Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTHThe movie kicks off with a slowmo shot of a big ol horse pulling a sleigh. We go into a house and these 2 best friend are talking about where people are going to be sitting at her wedding. That's right - Kathy and police officer Matt are finally getting married! But Kathy's friend, Danielle, is feeling a bit sad. Last Christmas, she was broken up with on Christmas Eve at Church service in between Silent Night and Joy to the World. But she's here and she's gonna make the best of it helping Kathy plan the wedding. In the middle of the their conversation, we see a guy walking his Dalmatian. Danielle decides to go to the coffee shop and orders her fav: a tall caramel machinate sugar free with oat milk, no whip, and has a totally normal, real human conversation with the owner. She goes to enjoy her drink in the park in the freezing cold. She sets her drink down to take a call from her mom and she notices that a dog is drinking her drink. The man apologizes but she doesn't want any part of it.But when she's goes to the coffee shop the next day and orders her sugar free caramel macchiato with oat milk, no whip, he comes right up.  Turns out, he's the guy she's supposed to be meeting with. His name is Trevor but goes by TJ and he is Matt's best friend. They start working together to plan stuff, like cake taste testing, floral arrangements, stuff that the wedding party is in charge of. She invites him over to meet her old school Dad and Dad falls in love with him. And he takes her to the fire department to show her all of the fire stuff. But then he gets a call so has to leave.Turns out, the call is for her mom. She "fell down" while doing the dishes. I guess she was dehydrated. She talks to her mom about how she's not sure about really giving Trevor a chance but mom is like your dad likes him, we can't let this opportunity pass. Everything is good again until she gets a call - the baker who was making cupcakes for the wedding is in labor. So she and Trevor go to the bakery to make 200 cupcakes. And they have a blast until a girl shows up and says she's Trevor's girlfriend. Trevor doesn't correct her. She's real sad. Luckily, there's a random old guy on a bench who gives her some advice. Trevor shows up and explains - he actually never did break up with this girl but he thought they broke up cuz she moved. Which is good enough for her. They go to walk in the freezing cold and kiss.

In this episode, we're cracking open more than just cold ones, we're cracking open the chaos behind one of the biggest brand faceplants in recent alcohol history. Bud Light's PR blunder cost billions, tanked its street cred, and left big beer brands scrambling like a frat boy who forgot finals week. But this isn't just about beer. It's about identity, influence, and how the alcohol industry is getting a reality check as Gen Z and younger Millennials say, “Yeah, I'm good,” and reach for a coffee instead. We explore how the shifting culture around drinking is flipping the booze biz upside down, and why that's actually great news for anyone trying to live clean, clear-headed, and free. With a healthy dose of honesty and humor (because let's face it—this stuff is ridiculous and revealing), we unpack what big alcohol's identity crisis means for your own transformation and why now is the perfect time to go against the grain and level up.

I'll Become What You Call Me - #10045

    A Word With You

My daughter was all excited about the sign she saw at the airport. It was actually over the door at a terminal, and it simply said, "Through these doors pass the greatest employees in the world." She said, "You know, Dad, that would make me feel like I was really doing a good job if I came under that every day." It gives you something you want to live up to. I hope you're posting the right kind of sign. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "I'll Become What You Call Me." Well, our word for today from the Word of God is from Acts 4, and I'm going to read beginning at verse 36 where a man gets a name change. "Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement), sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles' feet." Now, notice Joseph becomes Barnabas, The Encourager. We read about him on several occasions in the book of Acts, not the least of which is when he came with Saul of Tarsus, who had just come to Christ. Now, remember, Saul had been persecuting the church. He was like public enemy number one for the Christians. But, "When Saul came to Jerusalem, (Acts says) he tried to join the disciples, and they were all afraid of him. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles." This is the kind of thing Barnabas does throughout his ministry. He goes on to encourage new Gentile believers in Antioch, and nobody's quite sure about them. He rehabilitates Mark when Paul fires him. The point is, the apostles called Joseph an encourager, and he just kept living up to what they called him. That's a principle of human behavior. We tend to become the name we're called. That airline seems to know that, "Through these doors pass the greatest employees in the world." If you call them that, maybe they'll live up to it. That means you have at your disposal a powerful tool for building people, or a destructive weapon for tearing them down. For example, what names do you call your son or daughter? How many times have you said stupid, or lazy, or rebel, or problem? Well, you're programming them with ideas about themselves, and they may then go on to just prove you right. Think about what you've called your husband or wife lately, or that person who frustrates you - that person who's so irritating, so negative. You can help change a person if you'll look for their strengths and tell them what you see. Call them that good thing. Find a name you can use to bring out their best. Maybe that person, for all of their weaknesses, all of their negativeness, maybe they're obnoxious, but are they generous? Maybe they're sensitive, they fight for their family. Maybe they're a person of conviction; they're organized. Maybe they have a great smile, or a great spirit, or a budding talent. Would you tell them what you see? Would they make a great Christian if they turned their mind and talents toward Christ? Sometimes I've said that to people. "You know what, you would make a great follower of Jesus." Then they look surprised and I tell them their qualities that would make them a great follower of His. "With a mind like yours, with a gift like yours, oh what a follower of Christ you would be!" Tell the people around you who they could be with the strengths that they have, even if you only see a little bit of it. Because by naming it, you can nurture it. Look at those people close to you as if they were wearing a big old sign that says, "I'll become what you call me."

A Fine Marriage, Now an Extraordinary Marriage: Bart's Story Bart is a Christian leader. He's the head of a childcare agency working with traumatized children and teens. He's been married for nearly 20 years and has four beautiful kids. And by his own admission? He was tired. Burned out. Irritable. Or, in his words—“crusty.” He wasn't in crisis. His marriage wasn't “on the rocks.” But it wasn't thriving either. And Bart knew something had to change. Christian Leaders Get Tired, Too—But That Doesn't Mean You Stay There One Saturday morning, Bart's wife tried to be playful with him—and he snapped. He didn't mean to. He was just worn out, juggling too many roles, feeling the pressure of leadership, family, and ministry. But his wife's gentle confrontation was a turning point. She didn't yell. She didn't threaten. She just called it what it was. And Bart—rather than shutting down—responded with humility and self-reflection. Not because he had to… But because he wanted to grow. Why “Good Enough” Marriage Isn't the Goal—Even for Ministry Leaders Bart described his marriage as “a 9 on a bad day.” No major fights. No betrayals. No one was threatening to leave. But deep down, he knew something wasn't right. The joy was fading. The connection was inconsistent. And his presence at home was… thin. Too many leaders settle for “fine” because there isn't obvious brokenness. But lack of crisis doesn't mean abundance of health. How One Christian Husband Reconnected With His Wife (and Kids) Bart didn't just learn new tools—he let God change his posture. He took a long, hard look at his own heart. He asked his wife, with full honesty, "Have I made intimacy feel transactional to you?" She said no. But Bart still made changes. He apologized for things from 20 years ago. He went to his kids, one by one, and asked for forgiveness for being emotionally absent. And the impact? Laughter returned. Confidence rose. Connection was rebuilt—at home, where it matters most. When You Lead at Work But Struggle at Home Bart's job requires emotional intelligence, patience, and deep listening. He gives that to kids, to employees, to families in crisis. But when he got home? He was depleted. He admits, “I was giving my best to strangers—not to the people who mattered most.” The CIRQUE listening framework helped him shift. Not just in knowledge—but in behavior. He started seeing his wife again. Not as someone who was “doing fine,” but as someone he was called to serve and cherish. Intention Without Action Won't Heal a Struggling Marriage One of the most striking moments in Bart's story? The first time he walked around the car to open the door for his wife in years. She paused. Surprised. It had been that long. But it wasn't about the door. It was about intentionality. About pursuit. About loving her like the daughter of the King she is. Christian Leaders: Your Marriage Doesn't Have to Be Broken to Be Better Friend, maybe your marriage isn't “bad.” Maybe no one knows how empty or tired you feel. Maybe your congregation thinks everything's fine. But you know. You know you're not showing up the way you want to. You know she deserves more. You know God is calling you deeper. Don't wait for a crisis to choose transformation. Don't wait for regret to become your motivation. Start now. Invest now. Lead your home like Jesus—by going first. I celebrate the peace in my heart that has allowed me to be non-reactive and non-explosive in some very difficult and high-tension situations…I celebrate the new playful way that we are connecting in the bedroom…I celebrate that my wife is now telling my children that "Dad is different!"

Years ago when I went on my first international ministry trip, I went just about as far as you can go - 10,000 miles to Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. I was going to be away for three weeks, which was the longest I had ever left my wife and our three young children. My wife mobilized the kids to put little love notes all over and all through my luggage. We had a nice meal together on the way to the airport and then some special hugs and kisses at the airport. But I did have to go. And I'm not kidding you, it was a sad moment. My wife was trying to look like she was fine. The children were obviously not looking fine. I managed to hold myself together until I rounded the bend in the concourse, then I started wiping tears from my eyes. It was hard, but one thing made it OK. It was only temporary. We would be reunited. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Good News for Our Grief." Life's partings are tough when someone we love slips into eternity. Death rips us up inside, and the grief is sometimes almost unbearable. But because of Jesus, it's almost unbearable. I know, because I was the one several years ago burying the woman I loved - almost unbearable. Why almost? Well, I belong to Jesus, and my honey did, so that's not the termination of our relationship. No, because of Christ, it's just an interruption. I'm so glad. God describes this hope in our hurtingest times in our word for today from the Word of God in 1 Thessalonians 4, beginning in verse 13. "We do not want you to grieve like the rest of men who have no hope. For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command and the dead in Christ will rise first." That's my Dad. That's my baby brother whose death brought our family to Christ. That's my grandparents. It's more and more of my friends and the woman I loved for a lifetime. The Bible goes on to say, "After that, we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so will we be with the Lord forever." Wow! When Jesus walked out of His grave, He conquered death for all those who would ever give their lives to Him. It doesn't mean our heart won't stop some day in this earth-suit called our body, it will die. But it means the real you, your soul, will go on forever uninterrupted in God's great Heaven. Is it any wonder the Bible says, "Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory?" (1 Corinthians 15:54-55). You may be struggling with the loss of someone you love. I think I get that. The pain is very real. Death was never meant to be part of our lives. Sin brought in death. But Jesus died to pay the death penalty for our sin, and then, on Easter morning, He beat this monster that has beaten every person who ever lived. So now, because of Jesus, the very worst death can be for a believer is an interruption of the relationship, never a termination. Hallelujah! And if you've never put your total trust in Jesus Christ to be your Savior from your sin and its death penalty, please don't risk another day without Him. Would you tell Him, "Jesus, your death on the cross was to pay for my sin. It is my only hope of heaven. And the fact that You walked out of your grave proves that You can give eternal life that no one else can give. I'm Yours, Jesus, beginning today." If you're at that point where you want to begin that relationship and have that assurance, this is your day to check out our website and the information there that will help you know you've got this settled. The website is ANewStory.com. That day of my long trip...the pain, the tears were real. As they are on a much deeper level when someone we love is leaving us for eternity. But you can handle the leaving if you know what I knew that day at the airport...that this separation is only an interruption and hallelujah, the reunion is coming.

This is the third part of a monthly, six-episode series celebrating the fact that exactly 40 years ago this year, my family and I spent six months in a striped motorhome travelling around Europe. I was nine years old and yes, this trip had an enormous impact on my life - I'm sure you wouldn't be listening to this podcast today if Van Life 1985 hadn't taken place! Throughout the series, I'll include chats recorded with my Dad this year, extracts from my late Mum's travel diary from 1985, and of course my own memories and thoughts. In this episode, we move on from Italy to Switzerland, where much of our fun involves mountain and snow. Growing up in Western Australia, none of us had any experience with snow, and we were all thrilled to play in the summer snow we found in alpine Switzerland. You need to listen to find out what we wore during these snowy adventures! We then spent time in Austria, and thanks to my Mum's diary we know we had some good times there too - curiously, neither my Dad nor I remember it well. Travel memories are strange! In this episode of The Intentional Dad, hosts J. Fotsch and Jason Hynson welcome guest Brian Mattson from The Downtown Church for a heartfelt discussion on fostering trust and openness in family conversations. The dads explore how honesty, humility and consistency are crucial for building emotional safety at home—especially when discussing hard topics or addressing mistakes both theirs and their children's. The conversation emphasizes the power of modeling honesty and vulnerability, especially when parents admit they're wrong. The trio shares personal stories about navigating difficult questions from their kids, handling lies with grace and keeping communication age-appropriate while still truthful. They stress that maintaining an open-door policy—no matter the topic or time of day—lays the foundation for long-term trust. Their message is clear: being an intentional dad means creating space for honest conversations even when it's uncomfortable. Episode Highlights [02:02] "Being able to say I was wrong… I went up and I apologized for the 10% I missed. Did he say, 'You're right, I was wrong'? No. But I wanted to keep that door open." [03:21] "The more times that door gets shut incrementally, that's going to be a big deal a decade later." [08:06] "If my daughter comes to me with real questions, that lets me know she's old enough for a real answer." [18:00] "You don't necessarily get in trouble for the act… but if we find out that you're not truthful with Mom and Dad, that's when we're upset." [21:11] "When he's been told he's done wrong… that just shatters him. So you have to be tender, especially when you do catch him in a lie." [24:17] "I don't believe in trickle-down economics but I believe in trickle-down emotions." Resources

At a recent Cabernet Sauvignon tasting in Los Angeles at the famed Republique restaurant, I spied this cool cat pouring off some aged wines. In that I fancy myself as a off-beat jacket guy, I had to engage Ron as to the provenance of not his wines, but of his jacket. And that is when the story began to unfold. Naturally, on the next trip to Napa, I had to get the whole story on the podcast. And here it is. Ron Nicholsen is the kind of vintner who makes you wonder if patience truly is a virtue—or just a wild gamble in the wine world. In this episode, you'll uncork the remarkable journey of a winemaker who dares to hold back his Cabernet for a full decade before release and whose devotion to authenticity runs deeper than sediment at the bottom of a hand-aged bottle. You'll hear how Ron's childhood, shaped by a grape-growing family and the steady, idiosyncratic hand of his stepfather, set the stage for an unconventional, legacy-driven pursuit: crafting age-worthy Napa Valley wines that aren't just tasted, but experienced. From his first steps at Camus under suspender-clad Charlie Wagner to the invaluable lessons at Spring Mountain and Cane Cellars, Ron's story is one of grape-to-glass transformation, family dynamics, and taking risks most wouldn't dare. Paul Kalemkiarian guides the conversation with the insight of someone who's seen a hundred thousand wines cross his glass, probing the economic and emotional weight of aging wines for years while resisting the fruit-forward trends dominating Napa's mainstream. Listeners will come away with an understanding of what it means to champion an “unblended, independent product” and the philosophy behind refusing to rush a wine to market—all while weathering personal and business upheaval. Expect to learn how terroir, tradition, and a stubborn sense of pride fuse into a singular tasting experience, why Ron believes fine wine is a three-dimensional, not a two-dimensional, pleasure, and how legacy can be bottled, aged, and passed down—one thoughtful vintage at a time. Bible Reading: Psalm 23; John 10:1-12, 27-28Evening descended swiftly on the French Alps. Chloe snuggled closer to her dad as the two of them and her dad's friend Jules huddled around a fire for warmth. "Another good thing about being a sheep is all that wool to keep you warm," Chloe said. Jules nodded. "It's almost time to put them in their pen for the night. If I wait until it gets too dark, the wolves come out." Chloe's eyes widened. "Have you ever had to fight a wolf, Uncle Jules?" He nodded solemnly. "Fortunately, I was able to save the lamb. The sheep know they are safe when they stay close to me, just like we are safe with Jesus, our shepherd.""That doesn't mean bad things won't happen to us," Dad interjected. "Everyone goes through darkness and tough times. But our Good Shepherd promises to be with us through every dark valley we encounter." "So we don't need to fear, just like David wrote in Psalm Twenty-Three," Chloe said softly. "Uncle Jules, what about the verse where David talks about God anointing his head with oil? What does that have to do with sheep?" Jules grinned. "Do you think Chloe can handle this, John?" "It's kind of gross, Chloe," Dad warned. "I can handle it!" "We have different medicine now, but back in David's day, shepherds used to pour oil over the sheep's heads to protect them from bugs," said Jules. "That's not so gross--kind of like giving pets flea medicine." "But these kinds of bugs would eventually make their way into the sheep's brains and destroy them." "Ewww!" Chloe shuddered. "Good thing they have a shepherd to protect every part of them--even their brains.""God does the same thing for us," Jules noted. "When we listen to the truth of His Word, it transforms and renews our minds and helps keep us from fixating on what might harm us. Instead of worry, we can feel His peace. That's why reading and memorizing God's Word is important." Chloe gazed at the sheep thoughtfully. "Uncle Jules, I've learned a lot this week. One thing's for sure--I'm going to listen to my Good Shepherd."–Savannah ColemanHow About You?Do you follow Jesus as your shepherd? Jesus says He is the gate for the sheep--trusting Him to save you through His sacrifice on the cross is the only way to have eternal, abundant life. (To learn more, click the "Good News!" button in the right column of this page or go to www.keysforkids.org/goodnews.) As His sheep, we need to listen to Him. He speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. Listen to your Good Shepherd so He can fill your thoughts with His peace.Today's Key Verse:My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. The Father Hoods crew is back with a fresh drop! This time, it's DJ EFN and KGB hold it down while Manny's out. EFN kicks things off with a health check-in, breaking down his battle with sleep apnea and the nasal procedure that's got him breathing easier. Then, the Dads dive into a timely convo on AI and the digital future their kids are walking into, what they're excited about, what worries them, and how they're setting limits on screens while trying to bring back real outdoor play. They take it back to the old days, reminiscing on how different growing up felt when kids could just roam and learn the hard way. Now? It's all tech, tighter rules, and talk of chaperones making a comeback. They wrap with a moment every parent knows too well: that sudden gut-check when you realize how fast your kids are growing up. Honest, thoughtful, and a little nostalgic, with a side of “where's optimistic Manny when you need him?”

Welcome to the season 9 finale!!!!! I was sent a screener for a new film making the festival rounds called The Militia, it is written and directed by Dylan King Welter and then I was able to interview him. I really did enjoy this film, just wasn't sure how to go about the interview on this topic. When it is released, I highly recommend checking out the film, but until then, enjoy this great interview. I can't wait until this film is released, but also can't wait to see what else Dylan directs and writes in the future. The synopsis of the film is: Daniel Pierce dreams of joining the local Militia alongside his father once he turns eighteen, but when his Dad becomes the target of the local Sheriff, Daniel and his friends form their own militia in a troubled effort to save him.The Militia Drink:Grab a 6, 12, 18, or 30 pack of your favorite good ol' American beer and enjoy the drinking game. The Militia Drinking GameDrink when…you see a gun on screen.you go “oh no”.you think that's a bad idea.a teenager cursesAs always, drink responsibly and with others.
