On Friday's Mark Levin Show, the Joe Kent narrative was tracked in real time by AI following his Tucker Carlson interview, revealing that the exact clip and caption featuring the quote about Israelis driving the Iran decision flooded hundreds of accounts simultaneously within minutes. This amplification involved Russian state TV (RT), Iranian state media through HispanTV, Hamas-aligned Quds News Network, Turkish state broadcaster TRT, Candace Owens, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Max Blumenthal. Like the Marxists, the Fascists have a sophisticated and massive propaganda operation. Kent's military record does not shield him from accountability for alleged wrongdoing. He is under FBI investigation for leaking information, a serious matter that should not be dismissed simply by criticizing the FBI's past failures. Also, the House Oversight Committee is investigating nonprofit organization Creator Collective for potential violations of campaign finance disclosure rules through its Chorus program. This initiative pays Democratic-aligned political influencers up to $8,000 per month to promote party talking points on social media. The committee describes the activities as a "disturbing pattern" aimed at evading transparency requirements. Later, the Democrats have repeatedly blocked funding legislation for key federal agencies including the TSA, Coast Guard, Secret Service, and FEMA, resulting in a government shutdown that has left these workers unpaid and unable to cover mortgages or medical bills. Democrats refuse to support them; they prioritize benefits and amnesty for illegal immigrants over American citizens and essential security personnel, deliberately creating chaos at airports and elsewhere to gain political power. Afterward, the Save America Act is a straightforward measure to ensure honest elections by restricting voting to Americans only. No, it doesn't discriminates against Black people or married women - it prevents illegal voting practices such as non-citizens voting, double voting, voting in wrong locations, or voting using deceased people's names. In today's episode, I sit down with David Gastelum, founder of DASH, an AI-powered platform built to preserve the memories and stories that define a life. After 23 years as a Los Angeles firefighter responding to countless emergency calls, David began asking a powerful question: what happens to someone's memories after they're gone? That realization led him to create DASH, a digital legacy system that connects photos, videos, and personal stories to physical memorials using QR codes. We talk about honoring the people who shaped us, preserving family history beyond boxes of old photos, and how emerging technology may allow future generations to experience the voices, stories, and moments that shaped their lives.

Happy Potluck Saturday, Heal Squad! This one starts in old Hollywood, Greta Garbo disappearing at the height of her fame (but secretly knowing exactly what she was doing), Oscars past vs. present, and why movies just don't seem to hit the same anymore… even though Kev shouts out a few recent ones he actually loved (Song Sung Blue, Nuremberg, the Clooney film)! How the whole system really works, the politics behind Oscar wins, why so many recent films feel forgettable, and the realization that Hollywood might not matter the way it used to. Kev gets into what's actually changing: audiences splintering, old entertainment shows quietly disappearing, AI starting to creep in, and why the people who are still thriving (Stallone, Taylor Sheridan) are the ones who create, not just perform. And for anyone trying to “make it” in the arts… the hard truth: you don't do it for the money anymore. You do it because you love it, you learn everything, and you adapt to what's coming next. A little nostalgia, a little reality check, and a very honest look at where things are headed. Talk shawtly! Naomi Klein saw where our politics was headed before most people on the left. Her 2023 book “Doppelganger: A Trip Into the Mirror World” is hard to describe. But among other things, it traces the new coalitions Klein saw forming on the right, the ways they were co-opting issues long associated with the left, and finding huge audiences and influence outside existing institutions. The people and coalitions that Klein wrote about run our world now. We are all living in the mirror world. As she put it, it's “doppelgangers at the wheel.” So I wanted to have Klein on the show to help understand how that happened, what the left failed to see at the time and the lessons the left should take from it now. As Klein told me: “The thing about doppelgangers is, in literature, they're always a message telling you a warning: You have to look at yourself. There's something about yourself that you're not seeing.” Note: We recorded this episode before the war in Iran. President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are demanding “more patriotic” coverage of the widening war in Iran. On this week's On the Media, hear how the Pentagon is cracking down on its publication, Stars and Stripes. Plus, fake AI images of the Iran war are proliferating, and they're getting more convincing. [01:00] Host Micah Loewinger breaks down the calls from the Trump administration for the media to produce “patriotic” coverage of the war in Iran. Plus, a closer look at the reporting by legacy outlets with journalist Minnah Arshad. Arshad analyzed The New York Times' early coverage of the war, and found that Iranian victims were underrepresented. Next, Micah sits down with scholar Mahsa Alimardani to discuss fake AI images of the Iran conflict, and how AI detection tools are being used to discredit authentic footage. [22:30] Micah speaks with Samantha Gross, the director of the Energy Security and Climate Initiative at the Brookings Institution, to dissect the developing energy crisis being caused by the disruption of oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz. [37:54] Host Brooke Gladstone talks to Erik Slavin, Editor-in-Chief of Stars and Stripes, the independent, award-winning newspaper that has served the military for roughly a century, about the Pentagon's plan to crack down on their reporting and refocus their content away from “woke distractions.” Further reading / watching: “First Draft: How the Media Manufactures Consent for War,” by Minnah Arshad and Andrew Perez “How AI Content Detection is Being Weaponized in the Iran War,” by Shirin Anlen and Mahsa Alimardani “The Fake Images of a Real Strike on a School,” by Mahsa Alimardani “Why Iran's disruption of the Strait of Hormuz matters,” by Samantha Gross, Caitlin Talmadge, and Melanie W. What is the psychology behind how the human brain constructs reality? When David Eagleman fell twelve feet off a roof as a child, the entire fall lasted just 0.6 seconds, yet his brain made it feel like an eternity. That moment sparked a lifelong curiosity about the brain and how it constructs perception, ultimately leading him to Stanford and a career in neuroscience. In this episode, David reveals the science of time perception, brain plasticity, and sensory substitution, and why the human brain is far more powerful and expandable than you ever imagined. In this episode, Hala and David will discuss: (00:00) Introduction (01:26) A Childhood Fall That Revealed Time Perception (06:46) How the Brain Constructs Reality (10:33) Hidden Senses the Human Brain Is Missing (16:46) What Is Brain Plasticity and Livewiring? (27:50) Sensory Substitution and Expanding Human Senses (36:29) The Psychology Behind Why Humans Dream (42:02) Where Science Meets Spirituality and Religion (48:47) The Future of Livewired Technology (51:39) Why Human Intelligence Still Outsmarts AI David Eagleman is a neuroscientist at Stanford University, a bestselling author, and the founder of Neosensory and BrainCheck. He is the writer and presenter of the international PBS series The Brain with David Eagleman and The Creative Brain on Netflix. His bestselling book Livewired reveals how the brain adapts in real time, reshaping our understanding of perception, consciousness, and human psychology. Nick Koumalatsos, Marine Raider, returns for the final segment of Episode 283. The discussion examines the Epstein case as a form of systemic leverage, followed by a critical assessment of U.S. strikes in Iran—questioning underlying motives, strategic interests, and broader implications. They address the rapid integration of AI in warfare, including autonomous targeting and the diminishing role of human judgment in combat. The conversation also considers the potential for SOCOM to operate as its own branch, along with emerging ideas around energy and recovery that remain outside mainstream focus. Republicans are failing us on Big Tech, the surveillance state, privacy, land ownership, quality of life, and transhumanism, and they are allowing Democrats to win on those issues. From Meta's smart glasses with facial recognition to mass surveillance through FISA, flock cameras, and AI data centers, this episode uncovers how privacy, property rights, and human freedom are being eroded in real time. But it goes deeper than politics. This is about the collapse of the free market, the rise of crony capitalism, and how the misuse and gaslighting of generative artificial intelligence is degrading human intelligence, productivity, and quality of life. For the first time, I share my theory on why the free market has broken down thanks to government and stock valuations and how that has led to a generation of new technology resulting in human decline rather than flourishing. Are we sleepwalking into an economic disaster? I'm joined by economist and energy expert Tracy Shuchart, who breaks down why America's fragile, debt-ridden economy will struggle to sustain a $200 billion war with Iran. We explain why, despite the good intentions of dealing with Iran, the U.S. is not economically prepared for war — and how oil shocks, stagflation, and runaway debt could trigger a financial crisis. Tracy makes the point that we should focus more on oil refineries and pipelines, which are even more important than increased oil drilling. Separately, I tackle how Trump is both retreating on immigration and making the issue unpopular. Also, he is focused on the wrong issues with AI and is more interested in building the surveillance state than a healthy, broad-based economy. Learn more about your ad choices. What if the ultimate goal of customer experience isn't to create a memorable moment, but to deliver an outcome so seamless and intuitive that the customer doesn't remember the experience at all? Agility requires brands to pivot from building complex, memorable journeys to engineering simple, almost invisible pathways to customer outcomes.Today, we're going to talk about a counterintuitive but powerful idea: that the future of customer experience is not about creating more elaborate experiences, but about radically simplifying them to the point where they become forgettable—in a good way. We'll explore how focusing on effortless outcomes and leveraging AI to enable simplicity can become a measurable growth strategy. David and Nilay start the show by exploring the increasing disconnect between the people who make AI products, and the people who keep saying they don't want them. (Or, at least, don't want to pay for them.) The AI industry is starting to retrench to a business-first approach, because there's simply no killer app for it yet. Speaking of no killer apps! Allison Johnson then joins the show to talk about the shockingly short life of the Samsung TriFold, and her bizarre journey to try and review the now-dead foldable. In this episode, I explore skillful concentration, the final aspect of the Eightfold Path, using a road trip analogy where concentration is like having steady hands on the wheel. I clarify that concentration is distinct from mindfulness, doesn't require hours of meditation, and is characterized by joy, not seriousness. I discuss the five hindrances—sensory desire, aversion, dullness, restlessness, and doubt—as obstacles to concentration, likening them to road hazards, and explain how to work with them by recognizing them as information. I also touch upon the jhanas as progressive states of concentration, from joy to equanimity, and offer practical advice on developing concentration by gradually increasing focus time, choosing an object of attention, and gently redirecting the mind when it wanders, emphasizing that concentration is a skill cultivated through consistent, gentle effort rather than force.Explore more at eightfoldpath.com: full transcripts, guided meditations, courses, and Noah AI, an AI you can chat with about any episode or teaching. In this episode, I explore skillful mindfulness, the seventh aspect of the Eightfold Path, using analogies like a permanently attached camera and a train station to illustrate its core principles. I emphasize that mindfulness isn't about stopping thoughts but about developing the capacity to observe them without being swept away, akin to sitting on a bench and watching trains come and go. Key takeaways include understanding mindfulness as awareness, acceptance, and discernment, and recognizing its practical application in everyday transitions and tasks. This practice matters because it counters the constant demand for our attention, offering clarity and choice, ultimately allowing us to be more awake and responsive to our lives rather than living on autopilot.Explore more at eightfoldpath.com: full transcripts, guided meditations, courses, and Noah AI, an AI you can chat with about any episode or teaching. This week on Second Helpings, Jackie and MJ are joined by Ed Larson, and there's an announcement about Brighter Side future, Ed and Jackie convinced MJ to watch the "Inside the Manosphere" doc by Louis Theroux and it's a beautiful view into the toxicity of the culture, and HBO Max's hilariously depressing "Neighbors" only has one more episode! Afroman continues to victory lap following the bogus 2022 raid and winning a recent defamation lawsuit, the Buffy reboot has been axed by the network, but Scrubs reboot is here to remain, much like the rumor that Zach Braff is dating an AI chatbot. One of the biggest misconceptions I see when it comes to making money is the belief that you need to start from scratch. A new certification, a brand new idea, or a completely different skill set. But the truth is, most of us already have everything we need. The real problem is not a lack of knowledge, it is not knowing how to package and position what we already know.In this episode, I break down five simple and practical ways to turn your existing skills, experiences, and knowledge into income. Whether you are in between roles, exploring a side hustle, or just trying to make extra money right now, this episode is your reminder that there is value in what you already bring to the table.I also walk through a key mindset shift. Your financial plan is only as good as what happens to it under pressure. A market drop. A job loss. An inflation spike that turns "fine" into "wait, what?" Most portfolios are quietly optimized for the good times, and that's exactly why they crack when things get uncomfortable. This week, Joe, Paula, Jesse, and special guest Paul Merriman aren't chasing the highest returns. They're building for something harder: a system that doesn't force bad decisions when everything around it is going sideways. Because the real test of your plan was never the bull market. It's right now. Paula Pant — Afford Anything host and career-flexibility advocate. Jesse Cramer — Host of Personal Finance for Long-Term Investors and someone who clearly plays the long game in more ways than one. Paul Merriman — Longtime investor, educator, and the person in the room who's seen enough market cycles to stop being impressed by any single one of them. On building a portfolio that doesn't quit: Why the "sports car" portfolio feels exciting and quietly raises the odds you'll blow up your plan at the exact wrong moment The real definition of all-weather investing: built for resilience, not bragging rights How diversification feels like it's failing right before it does exactly what it's supposed to do Why index funds have a built-in self-cleaning mechanism most investors never think about The behavioral trap of performance-chasing and how it causes permanent damage, not just temporary losses On the parts of your plan that aren't your portfolio: Why your investment strategy alone isn't a financial plan and how cash reserves, insurance, and income stability complete the system The often-skipped roles of disability and umbrella insurance in protecting everything you've built How to think about job-loss risk in a world reshaped by AI and shifting careers Why negotiation skills and career flexibility might matter more to your long-term security than picking the "right" fund On measuring success differently: A better scorecard for your financial plan: not just returns, but whether it survives the next storm without forcing a bad call If you're in your 40s, the math has changed. You've built real momentum, which means a major mistake costs more than it used to, and there's less runway to recover. Markets are unpredictable, job security looks different than it did a decade ago, and the financial media is a constant nudge toward reacting to something. An all-weather approach doesn't try to predict what's coming. It prepares for it. The goal shifts from winning every season to still being in the game when the weather turns, and that shift makes all the difference when things actually get hard. OG's chair is empty this week, but Paul Merriman is a more than worthy substitute, joining Joe, Paula, and Jesse to trade ideas on portfolios built to take a punch. Doug holds down the trivia desk, and let's just say the leaderboard gets an interesting update. Somewhere between market wisdom and basement bragging rights, the point lands: you don't need to win every season. You just need a plan that doesn't fall apart when the weather does. New to the basement? Subscribe so you never miss an episode, and leave a review if this one helped you stop optimizing for the wrong thing. Learn more about your ad choices. As the Iran conflict upends market narratives, our Global Head of Fixed Income Research Andrew Sheets offers his take on how to view the historic disruption happening in March and what the next few weeks could bring.Read more insights from Morgan Stanley.----- Transcript -----Andrew Sheets: Welcome to Thoughts on the Market. I'm Andrew Sheets, Global Head of Fixed Income Research at Morgan Stanley. Today on the program, a survey of just how quickly key narratives have changed and how lasting that might be. It's Friday, March 20th at 2pm in London. The NCAA basketball tournament, also known as March Madness, is one of my favorite times of the year. The single elimination tournament of 64 teams is wonderfully chaotic with plenty of surprises, especially in the early games. And basketball is one of those sports where momentum often seems real. A team that has somehow forgotten how to shoot in the first half of the game can suddenly look unstoppable in the second. As I said, March is one of my favorite times to watch sports. It is often not one of my favorite times to forecast markets. In 2005, 2008, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2025, March saw outsized market volatility. And it's the case again this year. I'm sure, it's just a coincidence. This time, it's not just about a historic disruption to the energy markets, which my colleague Martijn Rats and I discussed on this program last week. It's also a major reversal of the market storyline. If this were a basketball game, the momentum just flipped. In January and February of 2026, there were strong overlapping signals that the U.S. and global economy were in a good – even accelerating – place, boosted by cheap energy, stimulative policy, and robust AI investment. Oil prices were down as metals, transports, cyclicals and financial stocks, all rose. Europe, Asia, and emerging market equities – all more sensitive to global growth – were outperforming. Inflation was moderating. Central banks were planning to lower interest rates. The yield curve was steepening and the U.S. dollar was weakening. The January U.S. Jobs report was pretty good. And then … it all changed. In a moment, the Iran conflict and the subsequent risk of an oil price shock flipped almost every single one of those storylines on its head. Now, oil prices rose and the prices for metals, transports, cyclicals and financial stocks all fell. Equities in Europe and Asia – regions that rely heavily on importing oil – underperformed. The U.S. dollar rose as investors sought out safe haven. Inflation jumped following oil prices. The yield curve flattened on that higher inflation, as we and many other forecasters adjusted our expectations for what central banks would do. And, as it happens, the last U.S. Jobs report was pretty bad. If the Iran conflict ends and oil resumes flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, it's very possible that this story could once again swing back. But until it does, the speed of which this momentum has flipped means that almost by definition, many investors have been caught off guard and left poorly positioned. If you couple that with the challenge of diversifying in this new environment – where the prices for stocks, bonds, and even gold have all been moving in the same direction – the path of least resistance for investors may be to continue to reduce their exposure to ride out the storm, driving further near term weakness.Unfortunately, that could make for an uncomfortable few weeks. At least, there's some good basketball on. Thank you as always, for your time. If you find Thoughts on the Market useful, let us know by leaving a review wherever you listen.
