ARNO believes that machining is now something like Formula 1 racing: every little screw is tuned to increase performance. Thinking outside the box is essential, especially when considering cutting tools and turning. It would be helpful if users could always use the right combination of tools, inserts, and coolant supply. In Formula 1, everything is constantly scrutinised to glean maximum performance. Yet only the driver and the manufacturer who have mastered the overall package can reap the world championship crown. Despite all the optimisations and specifications, cutting tools for turning have yet to reach the end of their potential. Responsible tool manufacturers think about selling as many cutting tools as possible and include the tool holders and cooling supply into the equation. On the other hand, users should be open to tips, let consulting manufacturers approach them, and allow them to enter the production process. The potential that can be achieved in this way can provide a decisive leading edge. Be open to third-party expert tips For example, ARNO Werkzeuge has long been involved in the continued development of tool holders and coolant supply. Thanks to its customer proximity, the family-run company has a wealth of expertise from numerous applications and a wide range of holders with and without coolant supply. Users can rely on the best overall packages for small and large batches, as well as Swiss and fixed headstock lathes. “Here, too, we are not interested in maximising sales figures for high-margin products. We aim to find the best solution for our customers,” assures Sales Manager Dieter Wollensack from ARNO Werkzeuge. As an experienced technical advisor, he focuses on long-term and intensive customer relationships. He detests the promise of ‘double the service at half the price' and pie in the sky. “I sometimes say to my customers: ‘No, that's not possible' or ‘We won't do that' and risk being turned down. I've always been successful with this approach - and ultimately, so have my customers.” Advice or not, process optimisation products must be convincing in practice. For this reason, the overall package consisting of a cutting insert or indexable insert with a matching tool holder and high-performance cooling must always deliver the best customer performance. This is exactly what users should attach importance to their tool partners to understand the processes and have the right overall package for every production situation. For example, universal packages for small batches, high-tech solutions for large batches, and special products for difficult-to-machine materials. Exorbitant promises never help. Innovative when it comes to ‘cost per part' When tool manufacturers adopt this mindset, new products and solutions result. One example is the clamping holders with through-tool cooling for inserts that ARNO Werkzeuge developed in 2022. They are produced using a hybrid manufacturing process that combines additive technology with conventional CNC milling, achieving better surface quality. But why? Coolant flows directly where it's needed. Three precisely aligned channels guide the coolant to the cutting edge from above and underneath without obstructing chip evacuation. The special geometry of the cooling channel creates a nozzle effect that greatly improves cooling compared to conventional channels. The outlet openings are always perfect—they need no adjustment. And since they are much closer to the cutting zone, the coolant significantly reduces the temperature. Experienced users will recognise the benefits immediately: greater process reliability, less vibration, better surface quality and a much longer tool life. Users have sent reports about tool life that is three times longer. Of course, this is not at all suitable for small batches - but when it comes to large batch orders, it's just the right ace in the calculation where everything has to do with the cost per part. Hybrid holder: productive from additive The secret isn't rocket science, but you must figure it out first. The shanks of the hybrid holders from ARNO Werkzeuge are produced using conventional CNC milling. On the other hand, the complex head part of the holder is attached directly to the shank using a 3D printing process. “This gives us new design freedom and outstanding stability,” says Werner Meditz, Head of Technology at ARNO Werkzeuge. The geometric design of the cooling ducts can be precisely optimised so that coolant is guided through the holder to the cutting tool at maximum efficiency and reaches the cutting edge directly from above and underneath. This cools the tool flanks in a way that was previously unthinkable. At the same time, the number of attachments required at the top of the head is reduced to the absolute minimum. The chip breaks as needed and is optimally evacuated - regardless of the cutting depth. “We get a lot more coolant to where it needs to go,” Meditz assures us. The innovative hybrid holder is exactly what clever users want - and this all comes from a tool partner thinking out of the box. Not only high-tech but also ‘basic work.' But even when it's not high-end, machine shops welcome innovative turning tool manufacturers with well-thought-out products. Meeting someone who can also offer the right holders and complete systems for small batches with frequent workpiece changes is refreshing. At ARNO Werkzeuge, you will find a wide range of turning holders for external machining, where the length is easily adjustable using a scale. “The ARNO special design is extremely simple and practical when it comes to adjusting the length and coolant access,” confirms Meditz. The holder and through-tool cooling are easy to install and ensure repeatable process reliability. Their nickel-plated, high-tensile, and precisely finished nature promises top quality and long tool life. The efficient cooling system, which feeds coolant directly to the cutting edge through three channels, not only ensures long tool life but also allows higher cutting speeds with optimised chip control. The machining time savings make the cost calculation look good. Variety of boring bars for internal machining Finally, we come to internal machining. Turning tool manufacturers have already given this much thought. First and foremost, the designers at ARNO Werkzeuge have also considered the customer's situation and developed suitable boring bars for a wide range of applications. The range includes boring bars of steel and solid carbide, each with two possible coolant hole exits. Depending on the turning process, users can choose between a coolant channel from above (IKO) for through holes and a coolant channel from underneath (IKU) for blind holes. Accordingly, chips are guided forward away from the cutting edge (IKO) or behind the cutting edge and flushed out (IKU). This reduces wear. Boring bars come in right or left-hand versions with different shank diameters, a wide variety of clamping holders, and many approach angles. This variety alone shows that the manufacturer thinks from a user's point of view. Combined with suitable mini indexable inserts from ARNO Werkzeuge, components from Dmin 4.8mm can be machined effortlessly, regardless of diameter and material. This is only the standard range, not customised products. This already promises long tool life because all ARNO boring bars are nickel-plated, high tensile and precisely machined, which certainly boosts confidence. Users looking for suitable, long-life productivity-enhancing tools for all their turning operations and processes should be glad that some manufacturers have adapted their thinking to include their customers applications.

Next week, we have Formula 1 in Miami, Formula E in Monte Carlo, plus Superbikes in Barcelona, Formula 1 academy in Valencia, NASCAR in Kansas Speedway. In the UK, we have BTCC at Brands Hatch and British GT at Silverstone.

Just what all goes in to design and erect an FIA/FIM-homologated motor-racing circuit that is used for Formula 1, MotoGP, Formula E & other series? What are the design, legal, practical, civil and even human resource requirements needed? In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora spoke to Ben Wilshire and Dan Selby from Driven International, the company that was responsible for the most-recent changes to the Yas Marina Circuit (for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix). Driven International also designed the Hyderabad Street Circuit in India (for Formula E's Hyderabad ePrix), the Mandalika International Street Circuit in Indonesia (for MotoGP & Superbike World Championship) among others. In Formula 1, the focus always is on car design, but in this April break, we decided to focus on circuit design. After all, Romain Grosjean famously said that it was cheaper to re-design circuits than the racing cars as the sport chased 'ease of overtaking'.  (Season 2023, Episode 15) Follow our host on Twitter: Soumil Arora Image courtesy: Formula 1

Welcome to the Lovecars on the Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week! We had WEC, WRC in Mexico, IMSA, NASCAR, Formula 1 and more! We start our podcast to pay our respects to Susie Moss, who has sadly passed away. The wife of late Sir Stirling Moss was said to still be talking to Sir Stirling even after his death. In Formula 1, we had a fierce race in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Fernando Alonso looked like the car to beat in the Aston Martin during practice. Max Verstappen has engine problems in qualifying, resulting in a 15th place qualifying position. Charles LeClerc was also serving a penalty, which put him back in qualifying too. Verstappen ended up gaining places again, finishing second behind his team mate, Sergio Perez, with Fernando Alonso in 3rd place. What Formula 1 weekend wouldn't be complete without some controversy from the FIA! The WEC were racing at Sebring for a dogfighting race! The win went to Toyota with a 1-2 finish. The WRC was in Mexico, with a win for Sebastian Ogier in the GR Yaris Rally car. NASCAR was at Atlanta, with a thrilling win for Joe Logano in the Ford. Next week, we don't have any car racing in Europe, but we have more NASCAR, and MotoGP on 2 wheels in Portimao!

Welcome to the On Grid Podcast, with our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman. This week, Formula 1 is back with testing in Formula 1. We had a thrilling finish in Formula E in Cape Town, plus Superbikes in Australia, NASCAR in Fontana and more! Firstly, we pay our respects to Musician and Formula 1 driver, Slim Borgudd, who was the drummer for Abba, too! In Formula 1 news, Haas have reduced the number of seats on their pitwall, saving a whopping $250,000! Elsewhere, F1 teams are now expecting £60 million per team for a new team to join the sport. Rumours also suggest that Red Bull maybe selling the Alpha Tauri team. We've seen F1 testing in Bahrain, but which do you think is the best looking livery on the new cars? In Cape Town, South Africa, we had an exciting Formula E race. The other big race was in World Superbikes, at Phillip Island in Australia. Over the pond in Fontana, we had NASCAR. Next week, we have Formula 1 in Bahrain, Indycar in St. Petersburg, more World Superbikes in Indonesia, and NASCAR in Las Vegas!

Welcome to episode 44 of the Lovecars On The Grid pocast! Our hosts, Paul Woodman and Tiff Needell bring us another motorsport roundup from the past week. This week, we have two new World Champions! But we start with paying our respect to Coy Gibbs, the executive for Joe Gibbs racing, who sadly passed away this weekend. His death was less than a day after his Son won the Xfinity Series Championship. In Formula 1, Christian Horner is in the news again, claiming that there was a leak from Red Bull to the FIA. We've had lots of PR from Formula 1 drivers out in Las Vegas for the race in Nevada next year. Elsewhere, there's a debate with Pirelli over whether tyre blankets should be continued. Pirelli have said that first laps out of the pits will be slower, but other race series don't use tyre blankets, so are they needed in Formula 1? The Moto GP riders were out in Valencia this weekend, with a win for Suzuki rider, Alex Rins, in Suzuki's last ever race in Moto GP. The Championship win went to Francesco Bagnaia, taking the title from Francesco Bagnaia. In Moto2, Spanish rider, Pedro Acosta took the win and became rookie Champion of the year, with the overall Championship going to fellow Spanish rider, Augusto Fernandez. Joey Logano was crowned this year's NASCAR Champion at Phoenix Raceway in Arizona. Next week, we have the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paolo. We have the World Rally Championship final in Japan and the WEC final in Bahrain. The penultimate round of World Superbikes is also taking place in Indonesia, and let's not forget the Race of Remembrance in Anglesey!

Welcome to episode 39 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. We're a day late with the podcast this week (sorry), as Paul has been filming for our upcoming TV show! In Formula 1, Max Verstappen could take the F1 World Title this weekend, coming up to the record for the most wins in a season and probably the most dominant season we've ever seen in Formula 1! Zhou Guanyu has confirmed to be continuing to drive for Alfa Romeo next year, whilst the FIA has rejected Indycar driver, Colton Herta's application for a super license. Nicolas Latifi has also been confirmed that he will leave the Williams F1 team, where will he go next? There was a lot of motorbike racing, with Moto GP, Superbikes and British Superbikes! In the British GT, we had the issue of track limits, allowing drivers to overtake off the track and made it more like an amateur banger race at Brands Hatch. Extreme E was in Venezuela for the Copper X-Prix, with absolute chaos with the dust between the cars. The winner was determined by penalties given to each driver for hitting marker flags. Team Hamilton X44 won ahead of McLaren thanks for these penalties. Moto GP had a wet qualifying at the Grand Prix of Japan. The race was won by Australian rider, Jack Miller on his Ducati. Just four rounds to go in Moto GP and a race in Kazakhstan in 2023! The World Superbikes were in Barcelona, with wins in all three wins going to Alvaro Bautista on his Ducati. British Superbikes was full of drama at the weekend at Oulton Park, with Donington Park coming next weekend. Jason O'Halloran and Peter Hickman had a collision in the first race, as both riders attempted an overtake. In race 2, reigning champion, Tarran Mackenzie fell off and broke his femur after being struck by Peter Hickman. Mackenzie is recovering in hospital. Over the pond in NASCAR, the drivers were in Texas, with lots of tyre failures as teams push the limits of the Goodyear tyres. The next race is the lottery of Talledega! Next week, we have WRC in New Zealand, British Superbikes are at Donington Park, Moto GP is in Thailand and Formula 1 and W Series at in Singapore for the night race!

Welcome to episode 35 of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week! We kick off this week with a Max Verstappen masterclass in Zandvoort in the Netherlands. We were expecting a dull race, as there were very few places for overtakes, but we were shocked by the action we saw in the Formula 1 this weekend! We had another Ferrari blunder in Carlos Sainz first pit stop, which resulted in Sergio Perez running over one of the pit crew tyre guns in his Red Bull. In his second stop, Sainz was released unsafely, resulting in a time penalty for an unsafe release. We had both Tsunoda and Bottas cars break down. Tsunoda thought his tyres were not fitted correct, and after a 2nd pit stop, was told to stop his car by his pit crew. Valtteri Bottas was forced to stop his Alfa Romeo on the start/finish straight, resulting in a safety car, that forced Lewis Hamilton to lose his lead. George Russell took a late call with Mercedes to change his tyres during the safety car, but this left Hamilton exposed, allowing Max Verstappen to overtake on the first corner following the race restart. The final result was 1st to Max Verstappen, 2nd to Charles LeClerc and 3rd to George Russell, the British driver's best ever finish with Mercedes. We also finally have an update on the Oscar Piastri fiasco. The driver has now confirmed that he will be driving for McLaren next year. Meanwhile, AlphaTauri are working to secure Indycar driver, Colton Herta. Controversially, the driver hasn't received a super license, so the team are working to secure one for him in order for him to drive for them next year. Elsewhere in F1, there's confusion between the Red Bull and Porsche deal, with questions being asked about if it's an engine deal, a chassis deal, or whether anything will happen at all! In F2, we had another safety car issue. Liam Lawson was holding up the rest of the pack, waiting as late as possible before restarting. The drivers further back in the field tried to speed up early, resulting in several drivers crashing. The feature race ended up being won by Brazilian driver, Felipe Drugovich, with Marcus Armstrong winning the sprint race. In Formula 3, we had a session ended early, following a red flag on the banked corner that was arguably not needed. We're all for safety first, but this red flag was a bit extreme! The feature race was won by Zane Maloney, whilst Caio Collet won the sprint race. The Moto GP took place at Misano in Italy, won by Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia. Australian rider, Jack Miller crashed in his Ducati, showing just how on the edge these riders really ride! In the USA, we had Indycar at Portland. We had a fairly dull race, however we still had safety cars! Following some new ruling, the cars restarted further back on the straight, which resulted in no crashes when it came to the chicane as the cars were more spaced out. Scott McLaughlin dominated the race and took the win, with team mate Will Power in 2nd place. 3rd place Scott Dixon went from 16th to take his podium position. The NASCAR race was fairly chaotic, which took place at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. Chase Elliot ended up spinning out. Kyle Busch blew his engine, and Kevin Harwick's car burst into flames! The win went to Erik Jones in his Chevrolet, with Denny Hamlin behind him in 2nd place. Next week, we have Formula 1, F2, F3 and the Porsche Supercup at Monza. The World Endurance Championship is back in Fuji, with some reduction in weight on the Peugeot and Toyota cars. WRC is back in Greece for a tough rally. The final round of Indycar is next week too, at Laguna Seca. We also have NASCAR! At home, British GT is taking place at Brands Hatch, whilst the British Superbikes are at Snetterton.

Welcome to episode 34 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Our presenters Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back to bring us an exciting roundup of motorsport events from this week! We kick off with some best wishes for the horrendous accidents in British Superbikes and the Ginetta Series. Tiff was at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium to watch Max Verstappen storm from 14th place to yet another victory for Red Bull in the Formula 1. We had a new track layout at Eau Rouge and Raidillon. Carlos Sainz managed to get pole position in qualifying and both Charles LeClerc and Max Verstappen suffered grid penalties for various changes with their cars. Hamilton was taken out of the race early in the first lap, following some contact with Fernando Alonso. Meanwhile, at Ferrari, the team tried to give Charles LeClerc the fastest lap, only to result in being overtaken by Fernando Alonso in another poor strategy decision and had to battle the Spanish driver in the final lap, only to be penalised for speeding in the pit lane following the race. Elsewhere in Formula 1 gossip, the argument for Oscar Piastri continues, as Alpine stated they had a contract with the driver, whilst McLaren also stating that the driver was to drive for them. The case lies with the Formula 1 lawyers! In Formula 2, Liam Lawson won the sprint race, whilst the feature race went to Jack Doohan in his Alpine. In Formula 3, British driver, Oliver Bearman won the sprint race, whilst the feature race went to Zane Maloney. The NASCAR race at Daytona was unfortunately postponed due to heavy rain on the Saturday. The win eventually went to Chevrolet driver, Austin Dillon. The British Touring Cars were racing at Thruxton, and after a horrific crash, race 1 went to Ford driver, Dan Cammish, Ashley Sutton won the second race and Josh Cook won the third. At Cadwell Park, we had the British Superbikes. Bradley Ray won the sprint race on his Yamaha. Danny Buchan won race 2 and 3. This week, we hope we can find out what will happen with Oscar Piastri, plus we have another Formula 1 race to look forward to at Zandvoort. Plus, we have Indycar at Portland, Moto GP at San Marino and the NASCAR playoffs begin!

Welcome to episode 30 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another motorsport roundup of the events from the past week! We've had a jam packed motorsport week from around the World, with Formula 1, F2 and W Series at Paul Ricard in France. We've also had booing in NASCAR, Indycar and World Superbikes. Firstly, we pay tribute to Paddy Hopkirk, the famous, Irish rally driver that was famous for driving MINIs. In Formula 1, we had an interesting weekend at Paul Ricard. Charles LeClerc had an unfortunate weekend, and ended up crashing into the barriers in France. Max Verstappen had managed to wear out his tyres in his Red Bull and following some poor strategy from Ferrari, Verstappen almost overtook during the Ferrari pitstop. Following a virtual safety car, Mercedes driver, George Russell left a huge gap between him and the driver in front of him. Russell then caught up with Perez, jumping the Mexican driver once the racing resumed. The McLaren result continues to be interesting, as Lando Norris continues to out perform team mate Daniel Ricciardo. Should Ricciardo continue to drive in F1? In Formula 2, Liam Lawson won the sprint race, having qualified in 9th place. In the main race, Japanese driver Ayumu Iwasa took the win, in his Red Bull. The main highlight of the Porsche Supercup were the track limits! Or lack of them! With drivers using the edge of the track to gain overtakes or maintain their positions. Harry King took 2nd place, whilst the win went to rookie driver, Bastian Buus. The W Series was also supporting the Formula 1, with a 7th win for Jamie Chadwick. Should Jamie move to Formula 3? NASCAR was at Pocono Raceway. Unfortunately, following a restart with just over 36 laps to go, Hamlin and Ross Chastain went head to head, with Chastain trying to go around the outside of Hamlin. This resulted in Hamlin squeezing his competitor out, forcing him into the wall. Hamlin went over the line in 1st place, but both Joe Gibbs drivers were disqualified for having incorrect aero. The win was therefore given to Chase Elliot. Indycar was at the Iowa Speedway for 300 laps, for a fairly dull race. Josef Newgarden won the first race, with Pat O'Ward behind him in second. The British Superbikes were at Brands Hatch, with a win for Jason O'Halloran on his Yamaha. Next week, we have Formula 1, Formula 2, F3 and W Series in Hungary, at the Hungaoring. NASCAR and Indycar are at Indianapolis. Superbikes are in the Czech Republic. BTCC are up in Scotland at Knockhill and Formula E is in London at the Excel Centre for an indoor race! What are your predictions for Formula 1 in Hungary? Let us know your top three drivers in the comments!

Welcome to episode 28 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast. Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back with another roundup of motorsport events from the past week! We apologise with the podcast being slightly late this week, but one of our hosts was out of action with Covid! Thankfully, Paul is on the road to recovery now, but apologies for us being late! This week, we have loads to talk about. From crowd controversy in Formula 1, to disqualifications in F2! Plus, Formula 2, F3, Porsche Supercup, WEC in Monza, Extreme E in Sardinia and NASCAR and Indycar in the US! Kicking off with the F1, we had booing from the crowd towards British driver, Lewis Hamilton. This follows on from Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen being booed at the Silverstone Grand Prix the other week. Lewis had a crash in Austria during the qualifying, but is this acceptable? Apart from the crowd, we had a very entertaining grand prix, with a win for Ferrari driver, Charles LeClerc, with 2nd place going to Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton finally getting his first podium of the season, finishing in 3rd place. Mick Schumacher achieved some more points in his Haas, achieving 6th place, after receiving his first points in the last race. Who do you think will win the championship this year? In Formula 2, the sprint race was won by New Zealand driver, Marcus Armstrong. The main races were really wet, following some rain in the morning, and after some controversy, the feature race win went to Logan Sargeant, following two other racers being penalised for running out of fuel and a team drying the track with leaf blowers. In Formula 3, Jack Crawford won the reverse grid race. The feature race was won by Isack Hadjar with Red Bull. The supporting Porsche Supercup race was looking good for British driver, Harry King, but the lead slipped away from him, giving it to Dylan Pereira. The WEC was taking place at Monza, where Peugeot launched their 9X8 Hypercar. Glickenhaus got pole position, but after an engine failure, couldn't hold onto the lead. The win went to Alpine, with Toyota in 2nd and 3rd place. We saw a horrendous crash for Aston Martin as a result of the sausage curbs. Should sausage curbs be used in motor racing? Extreme E had a double header in Sardinia, with even a rollover with the off road vehicles. Tiff and Paul still aren't warming to Extreme E, though! Over in NASCAR, Chase Elliot won at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. With multiple, mass crashes. There was no Indycar race this week, but there was certainly lots of gossip, with two teams announcing that they had signed driver Alex Palou. Paul was racing at Donington Park with Caterham this weekend. Having qualified in 6th place and fought up to 3rd place, but finished in 7th due to a safety car. Paul did managed his first ever fastest lap, though! In race 2, he went form 7th place to 4th place! Finally, Michael Masi has left the FIA! He's gone looking for a new career and has announced his retirement from the FIA. Next week, we have WRC in Estonia, Indycar is back, plus in Toronto. NASCAR is in New Hampshire and Formula E in New York! In the UK, the British Superbikes are in Donington!

This week, we've had the safari rally, Moto GP, NASCAR and of course the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK! We kick off with the WRC Safari Rally in Kenya. Toyota had an epic weekend, with their cars completing the top 4! Hyundai were in 5th, with Ford finishing in 6th, 7th and 8th place. The win went to Kalle Rovanpera, with Welsh driver, Elfyn Evans as runner up. With the new hybrid vehicles, marshalls were stopping fans from helping drivers right their crashed cars. Apparently, with a risk of electrocution, fans are no longer allowed to interfere! The British Touring cars were racing this weekend too. The cars were at Croft, where Hyundai took at 1-2 with Dan Lloyd taking the double header win ahead of Tom Ingram in 2nd place. Tom Ingram still remains at the top of the table for the Championship though. Moto GP was potentially the most exciting race of the weekend, at Assen. Fabio Quartarar took out his main rival, Aleix Espargaro, who had an amazing fight back through the field, achieving a 4th place result! Both touring cars and Moto GP now have a 5 week Summer break! NASCAR were racing at Nashville, which unfortunately had a 2 hour break due to the rain. There were plenty of moments, with lots of spins and crashes, but the win went to Chase Elliot, followed by Kyle Busch. Paul attended the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, and even managed to get a fast run up the hill in a Caterham 420 Cup car. Mixing amongst drivers like Nigel Mansell and other celebrities, it was a fantastic weekend with new cars such as the BMW M3 Touring being revealed. The McMurtry Spierling electric vehicle, with ex-Formula 1 driver, Max Chilton managed to set a new Goodwood hillclimb record, with a time of 39.08, which beat the previous record held by Nick Heidfeld back in 1999. It was also faster than the Volkswagen ID.R. Next weekend, we have the British Grand Prix at Silverstone! There's also the W Series there to support, with Formula 2, Formula 3 and the Porsche supercup! There's also Indycar at Ohio, with NASCAR at Road America and Formula E at Marrakesh. In Formula 1, Pierre Gasly has just re-signed for another year with Alpha Tauri. Red Bull reserve driver, Juri Vips has been suspended by the team after racial slurs in racing online.

We have Formula 1 and Formula 2, alongside the Porsche Supercup in Montecarlo. We've got Indycar and NASCAR in the US, plus bikes at Mugello, BTCC and Superbikes in the UK! Tiff joins us from Monte Carlo, having hosted some clients at the Formula 1 in Monaco! With some changing weather conditions in Monaco, the race was delayed. The FIA didn't seem to know what was going on, or when to start the race because of the weather! We didn't have a grid start because of a power failure, but local driver Charles LeClerc did everything he could in qualifying. Having qualified in pole position, the weather turned against him for the race, and after some poor strategy from Ferrari in the pits, finished in 4th place. Pierre Gasly was the first driver to move onto the intermediate tyres as the track began to dry out. Others drivers then followed. There was controversy as Max Verstappen crossed the pit line when overtaking. The rule dictates that the driver should've been penalised for doing so, but the FIA ruled against any penalty on this. Later on in the race, Haas driver Mick Schmuacher had a massive shunt by the swimming pool section. Cutting his car in half! What about Daniel Ricciardo? His poor performance continued in Monaco, while his team mate Lando Norris continues to do well at McLaren. Is it time for Ricciardo to leave the sport? Sergio Perez brought home the win for Red Bull, being the first Mexican to win the Monaco Grand Prix. Followed by the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz in 2nd, and Max Verstappen in 3rd. In the Porsche Supercup, British driver Harry King did well, taking 2nd place, but receiving a 3 place grid penalty. In Formula 2, Felipe Drugovich won, following the reverse grid race, having qualified in 10th place. Over in the USA, it was the Indy500. Ex Formula driver, Marcus Ericsson managed to win, with lots of crashes, including fellow ex-Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean. Pat O'Ward came through in second place in his McLaren. Remaining in America, NASCAR were racing at the Charlotte 600. The longest race on the NASCAR calendar, with drivers racing 600 miles. Like in Indycar, there were lots of crashes, with Chris Beauchamp rolling 5 times! Denny Hamlin won the Charlotte 600 in his Toyota. Coming back to Europe, the Moto GP was in Mugello. Italian rider, Francesco Bagnaia won on the bikes, with Somkiat Chantra winning his first race in Moto2. Back home in the UK, the British Touring Cars Championship were racing at Tiff's home track at Thruxton. Josh Cooke dominated the first two races from pole. The reverse grid race win went to Adam Morgan. In British GT, it was a win for McLaren with Morgan Tillbrook and Marcus Clutton in the GT3 race. The GT4 race win went to Marco Signoretti and Matt Cowley in the Ford Mustang GT4 at Donington Park. Next weekend, we have the Moto GP in Barcelona. The WRC is in Italy, whilst Indycar and IMSA Sports Cars go to Detroit. Formula E is in Jakarta, and there's NASCAR at the Gateway Motorsports Park in Illinois.

Welcome to episode 21 of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast! We have an action packed week to roundup with our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman, from Formula 1, Formula E, NASCAR, Superbikes and even drama in the Caterham Academy Championship! Kicking off with Formula 1, why we have the spy scandal between Red Bull and Aston Martin! With employees leaving Red Bull for Aston Martin, is information being taken too? Lewis Hamilton had a poor start in Barcelona, with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen involved in a collision with the Mercedes driver. Followed by Carlos Sainz coming off the track into the gravel trap in his Ferrari. What followed was an exciting race, with intense battles between Segio Perez and George Russell. Max Verstappen also had a brief spin off the track, leaving Charles LeClerc to lead the race in his Ferrari. LeClerc had a problem later in the race with his engine blowing up, and ended up retiring. The new Mercedes body modifications seemed to work though, with Russell finishing the race in 3rd, with Verstappen and Perez ahead of him. In Formula 2, Felipe Drugovich took the win for MP Motorsport in both the Sprint race and the Feature race. He now leads the championship. In the supporting W Series race, we had a 1,2,3 British podium, with a win for Jamie Chadwick, Abbi Pulling and Alice Powell. Both Sebs had a crash in WRC out in Portugal. The gravel rally was won by Toyota GR's Kalle Rovanperä from Finland, with Elfyn Evans hot on his heels. The WRC goes off to Italy next! There was no Moto GP this week, but the World Superbikes were at Estoril. The battle between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu continues as Rea takes 2 wins, with Toprak hot on his heels. The British Superbikes were at Donington Park, with some awful crashes. We had bikes splitting into multiple pieces, and a rider even in hospital. Thankfully Josh Day is awake and eating again, we wish him a speedy recovery. NASCAR was a pretty spectacular event, with $1 million for the Winner in Texas. There were more crashes and slow punctures for the drivers. The win went to Ryan Blaney in his Ford, with Denny Hamlin behind him in 2nd place. Tiff stayed up until midnight to watch the Indycar drivers at Indianapolis. We had crashes at 230MPH, with an average speed of 234.046MPH! Unbelievable! The win went to Scott Dixon, and Alex Palou in 2nd. Our resident driver, Paul Woodman was driving his Caterham Roadsport car at Snetterton with the Caterham Academy Championship this weekend. We had races being won by 0.05 of a second, and over 30 drivers on the grid! In the first race, Paul managed a 7th place, following an 11th place qualifying. Geoff Newman, Charlie Lower and Freddie Chiddicks all manage their usual performances with great driving. In the second race however, there was carnage at the start! Following an amazing start, Paul was squeezed by the two cars in front of him. He tried to go around the outside, but unfortunately was taken out by another car, leading to a red flag. Straight after the restart, we had a driver roll his car, forcing another red flag! Thankfully, the driver is ok. We don't know where to start this weekend, but we have a major Formula 1 race in Monaco. Now that Mercedes have got rid of their porpoising, will they do better in qualifying? We also have the Indianapolis 500, plus Moto GP at Mugello, BTCC at Thruxton and British GT at Donington Park! Over in America, we have the NASCAR at Charlotte.

A very Happy Birthday! In Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton has broke his radio silence! Giving us a strong indication that he will be back on the grid this year! Meanwhile, in the FIA, there's no news on Michael Masi as race director. There's a series of meetings taking place at the FIA to determine the result of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and reshuffle the structure, but why is it taking so long? We've had new car launches too, with Haas launching their car for the 2022 season. In the Autosport Awards, it was a good night for British motorsport, with awards to Zak O'Sullivan, who has only raced in Britain! Zak will be going into Formula 3 with Carling racing this year! Ash Sutton received the award for National Driver of the Year, too! This weekend also featured the Race of Champions, won by Sebastian Loeb, who beat Formula 1 driver, Sebastian Vettel to take the win! In NASCAR, we had the LA clash, with the 7th generation of cars, with locking wheels and 5-speed sequential gearboxes. The win went to Joey Lagano. This weekend, we have the Formula E race in Mexico City, hopefully we'll have some excitement there!

Welcome to episode 3 of the 2022 season of Lovecars On The Grid! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back for another roundup of this weeks motorsport! This week, we have more Formula 1 news and the FIA! There's also the Dakar rally, and more to look forward to in the coming weeks! We kick off with the Le Mans 24H virtual race! Formula 1 Champion, Max Verstappen was favourite to win, but after leading and being too heavy on the curbs, the Red Bull driver lost out to British racing driver, Oliver Rowland. In Formula 1, we've had an announcement from the FIA that Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff is in meetings to discuss the race in Abu Dhabi that ended the season in 2021. There's also been Zoom meetings taking place at the FIA to discuss Michael Masi's place in the sport. Mistakes took place in other races too, at Brazil and at Silverstone, not just in Abu Dhabi! Should Masi be outed from the FIA? Is there someone who can replace him? The final decision following the enquiry into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be announced on 18th March, four months after the race took place! Elsewhere, Aston Martin have appointed Mike Crack as the Team Principal for the 2022 season. The Dakar Rally ended last week, after a spectacular few days in the desert in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Nasser Al-Attiyah won the race for the cars in his Toyota, having competed 18 times in the Dakar. On the motorbikes, Sam Sunderland won it for the British! In the trucks, the Kamaz team were leading all the way through! We of course had the Dubai 24 hour race at the Dubai Autodrome this weekend. With Audi taking the 1st and 2nd place spots. Out of the 320 drivers, there were only 7 British drivers! Coming up, we have the 90th Monte Carlo rally taking place next week, with drivers such as Sebastien Loeb, Oliver Solberg and Toyota driver, Elfyn Evans all taking part. We of course have the hybrid cars in this season, offering an extra 100HP.

Welcome to the second episode of the new season of Lovecars On The Grid! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back with another podcast, bringing you a roundup of the latest motorsport updates from around the World! This week, we look at a positive decision from the FIA for a change at Dakar, plus some news from Formula 1! Kicking off at Dakar, the FIA actually got a decision right for a change! Jutta Kleinschmidt is the new President of the Cross Country Rally Commission and coincidentally was the first Woman to win the Paris-Dakar rally in 2001. We heard at the start of this year's Dakar rally that Audi Sport and their driver, Carlos Sainz were unhappy about the sport being unbalanced towards their EV car entrant, the RS Q e-tron. Kleinschmidt quite rightly responded to this, completely denying that their is a disadvantage for the EV team, and urged the rally to continue as normal. Some common sense from the FIA for a change! Should we get a former Formula 1 Champion to head the FIA Formula 1 division! Elsewhere at the Dakar, we've had 2 stages cancelled due to the weather and visibility, but overall been run incredibly well by the FIA under Kleinschmidt mastery. Ironically, Sainz and the Audi have now actually won three stages, too! Just four stages to go before the finish on Friday! Come on the British that are taking part! In Formula 1, we have news! Otmar Szafnauer, Team Principal for Aston Martin F1 team has left the team. There were rumours about him moving to Alpine, but nothing has been confirmed yet. In other news, Australian Racing Driver, Renee Gracie has announced that she's looking to restart her racing career and trying to get into NASCAR! The driver has had 3 years out in the adult entertainment business. Good luck to her! Elsewhere in British F4, Matias Zagazeta, who came second in F4 this year, is hoping for a seat in the higher racing divisions too! The GT cars kick off their season with the Gulf 12 hour race, with our friend, Oli Webb achieving 1st place in his GT4 class and 11th place overall! Next weekend, the GT3 cars move to the Dubai 24H race, with 87 cars taking part! Then, at the end of the month we have the Daytona 24H race and the Monte Carlo rally to look forward to! We're going to switch it up next week and bring on ex-BBC Top Gear Stig, Ben Collins to the podcast! Make sure you tune in next week to hear Tiff Needell discuss with Ben Collins!

Welcome to episode 39 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Paul Woodman and Tiff Needell are here to give you a motorsport roundup from the past week, but of course, top of our agenda is the Formula 1 finale in Abu Dhabi! Firstly, a huge congratulations to Max Verstappen! He won more Grand Prix's than Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, a fantastic drive from both drivers. It is undeniable that both Lewis and Max are unbelievable drivers, which gave us a very exciting season, that came to down to not only the last round of the season, but the last lap! In qualifying, it looked like the Red Bull F1 car was faster. Max was able to secure pole position, with Hamilton behind and Perez in 3rd place. In the race, Hamilton tried passing Max on the outside, forcing Hamilton off the track, which caused the first controversy of the race, should Hamilton have given the place back? Mercedes then gambled on having a quicker car, bringing Hamilton into the pits and covering the pit stop by the Red Bull team on the previous lap. Sergio Perez was able to help Verstappen catch back up though, by holding up Hamilton, reducing the gap between him and Verstappen. Bottas on the other hand didn't appear to be able to support his Mercedes team mate in a similar fashion. Until this point, it was looking like this was Hamilton's race, with both Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff and Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner both making radio messages to race director Michael Masi. With just four laps to go, an accident from Nicolas Latifi in his Williams prompted a safety car. We weren't sure if the race was going to restart, and race control announced that lapped cars were not allowed to overtake the safety car, meaning that Verstappen was way behind Hamilton. All of a sudden, the rules were changed, allowing all lapped cars to overtake the safety car. This gave Hamilton and Verstappen a one on one race, but with Hamilton on older tyres, there was little he could to do defend from the Dutch driver. Carlos Sainz gained the 3rd place trophy in his Ferrari, with Yuki Tsunoda in 4th place in his Alpha Tauri. Valtterri Bottas came down in 6th place. What an end to the season! In Formula 2, Oscar Piastri took pole for the main race, and won the Championship in Abu Dhabi. Will we see him in a Formula 2 car? Next weekend, the Extreme E is coming to the UK!

Welcome to episode 28 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast. This week, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman discuss the Formula 1, F2 and F3 at Sochi in Russia, the BTCC at Silverstone, Indycar and NASCAR in America, and of course the motorbikes! Formula 1 was a terrific Grand Prix out in Sochi! The Russian Grand Prix was far from boring this year, with British-Belgian racing driver, Lando Norris led the pack from pole position in his McLaren and George Russell not far behind, all because of Lewis Hamilton's crash into the pit wall in his Mercedes, and Max Verstappen's engine change at Red Bull! Then moving onto the Grand Prix, the tables turned! With the rain coming in with 10 minutes left of the race, Hamilton and Mercedes made the right decision to change their tyres, whereas Norris stayed out. Max also went in early to avoid the change in weather, which benefitted him and Red Bull, resulting in a second place. Hamilton took the win, gaining his 100th ever victory, setting a new record in Formula 1. It will be interesting in the 2022 season, with three British drivers contesting for the top spot. But who be on top in the Mercedes team, George Russell or Lewis Hamilton? In F2, Dan Ticktum won the first sprint race from pole position and then started in 5th place in the feature race, finishing in the same place. Australian driver, Oscar Piastri took first place for Prema Racing, extending his Championship lead. In Formula 3, the Sprint Race was won by American driver, Logan Sergeant, whilst Australian driver, Jack Doohan led from pole position to win the feature race with his team, Trident. Onto Touring Cars, the BTCC was at Silverstone with 30 cars on the 1.5 mile national circuit. Rory Butcher dominated the weekend, finishing in 1st place in the first two races, but then 13th in race 3. Indycar was at Long Beach, with 85 laps of the drivers hitting track limits and smudging the walls! Colton Herta was the fastest all weekend, but qualified in 14th thanks to a crash. The driver fought back through and ended up winning the race. Josef Newgarden finished behind Herta, having started on pole. NASCAR was in Las Vegas this weekend, with Toyota driver Denny Hamlin becoming victorious, with teammate Kyle Busch in 3rd place, and Chevrolet driver, Chase Elliot in 2nd. Over in the world of motorbikes, the Superbikes brought tragic news, with the sad death of 15 year old, Dean Berta Viñales in the Supersport 300 support race in Spain. Our thoughts are with his friends and family. This led to just two races being undertaken at the Motul Spanish round, with Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu extending his championship lead, winning both races. Close behind him is British rider Jonathan Rea, finishing 2nd in the first race. In British Superbikes, the Championship was at Oulton Park, with a win for Tarran Mackenzie on his Yamaha in the first race, and two wins for Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider, Tommy Bridewell. Our Lovecars resident presenters were racing too! Nick Ponting was racing at Donington Park, and Ben Collins, Mr. Stig was racing at the 24 hour race at Circuit Zolder in Belgium! Next weekend, the WRC is back in Finland, Moto GP goes over to the USA, whilst World Superbikes are in the Algarve in Portugal and British Superbikes are back at Donington Park. Lots of bikes next week!

This is episode 26 of our Lovecars On The Grid Podcast with Paul Woodman and Tiff Needell! It's been an exciting week, but we kick off with the controversy in Formula 1 at Monza, where Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen ended up with his car on top of of Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton! Following Max's poor pit stop, that took 11 seconds, the two drivers came together. Who was to blame? Nonetheless, McLaren ended up doing very well at Monza, with Daniel Ricciardo taking 1st place, and Lando Norris coming in 2nd. A brilliant Grand Prix. In Formula 2, the first Sprint race was won by French driver, Théo Pourchaire. The second Sprint was won by Carlin Racing's Jehan Daruvala and the feature race in Monza for the F2 was won by Australian driver, Oscar Piastri. Elsewhere, British racing driver, Dan Ticktum admits he may have blown his chances in Formula 1, after being dropped by both Red Bull and now Williams. The driver admitted he probably opened his mouth too many times, when he probably shouldn't have! Is he suitable to be a Formula 1 driver? What do you think? We had an exciting race in Moto GP, at Ciudad del Motor de Aragón. Home rider, Marc Márquez had a great battle with Francesco Bagnaia on his Ducati, but Bagnaia was able to hold out, beating the Spanish rider by 0.6 seconds. The closes British rider, Cal Crutchlow finished in 16th position. The World Rally Championship was over in Greece, with the Acropolis fixture returning to WRC for the first time since 2013! French rally driver, Sébastien Ogier was first out in his Toyota Yaris WRC and edges towards his next Championship win, finishing in 3rd place. The British Superbikes were racing at the Silverstone National this weekend, with a big clash between Yamaha team mates, Taz Mackenzie and Jason O'Halloran. Thankfully, both drivers were ok and were back in race 2 and 3 with both taking a win! Just 3 rounds left of British Superbikes! Over the pond in the USA, Indycar was the Grand Prix of Portland, which has very limited of overtaking. This lead to tactical moves in the pits! Ex-Formula 1 Romain Grosjean caused mayhem at turn 1, with Alex Palou taking the win, followed by Alexander Rossi in second place. NASCAR was at the Richmond Raceway in Virginia, for a fairly uneventful race! Next week, Indycar goes to Laguna Seca for what will hopefully be an exciting race with the Corkscrew and just 2 rounds left. Moto GP is at Imola, and the battle continues between Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Jonathan Rea in the World Superbikes at Barcelona and there's BTCC at Croft! Tiff's also driving at Goodwood in a Jaguar! Unrelated to motoring, a massive congratulations to British teenager, Emma Raducanu who won the US Open. Thank you for watching!

Welcome to Episode 16 of Lovecars On The Grid podcast, the global motorsport roundup, where this week we cover the Caterham Academy round at Silverstone, World Superbikes, Indycar and much more! This weekend, the Caterham Academy was at the home of British Formula 1, Silverstone! Another controversy with our own Paul Woodman, following using dry tyres for the qualifying, the Lovecars car qualified 19th, then having got up to 4th place, was he innocently taken out in the race? Full video to come soon! At the Austrian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is starting to run away from Lewis Hamilton in the points, but it's still Red Bull vs. Mercedes! Who will walk away with the Championship this year? Lando Norris and Sergio Perez receive penalties, but were they right to be given? Did you know a Formula car is as long and as wide as a Rolls Royce Phantom?! In the W Series, British racing driver Jamie Chadwick took the podium having dominated the race, with British drivers taking all three podium places. In Formula 3, Tiff seems to prefer the feature race as opposed to the sprint race! No MotoGP this week, but the Superbikes were at Donington Park! The usual British domination of Superbikes that we're used to over the years is now under attack from Turkish rider, Toprak Razgatlioglu, who beat Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes to 1st place. This week, Indycar was at mid-Ohio, one of the few tracks with very few overtakes. Unfortunately no joy for the two British drivers during this race, but Josef Newgarden finally got a well deserved win! NASCAR were at road America, for the first time in many years. Overtakes were few, but plenty of action nonetheless, with team mates colliding and an interesting reversing manoeuvre from Kyle Bush. Next week, we have no Formula 1 or MotoGP sadly. The only European race we can see is the British GT at Donington Park. Most of the action is in America, with NASCAR in Atlanta. Indycar is heading to the streets of Toronto and Formula E is in New York!
