Podcasting 2.0 August 28th 2026 Episode 269 - "Verbal Pollution" Shownotes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00 - DATABASE SURGERY WEEK — AND THE THIRD EMERGENCY OF THE MONTH The lead, and it's Dave's: Saturday 22 Aug — "#api I'm in the middle of a big refactor with the Podcast Index database schema. If I do my job right, nobody will notice it. But, the side effect will be an overall huge increase in the consistency of the data (duplicates, url change lag, etc)." @dave — the big schema refactor (22 Aug) Wednesday night: "Podcast Index database surgery will begin in the morning." Thursday: "Step 1. Expect a brief api outage. It should last just a few minutes." — then "Done" — then "#api Adding a very large table index..." — and finally, Thursday evening: "Finished. Butt is intact." (6 favourites. The board's favourite status update of the month.) What Adam should ask: what actually changed under the hood, what does "consistency" buy an app developer in practice, and is there anything a host or an app should do differently now that duplicates and url-change lag are being cleaned up?

All Home Care Matters and our host, Lance A. Slatton were honored to welcome Alder Allensworth as guest to the show to share the Mackenzie Meets Alzheimer's Community.   About Alder Allensworth, Co-Founder of Mackenzie Meets Alzheimer's:   Alder Allensworth, MM, RN, is a registered nurse and retired hospice counselor who supported families caring for loved ones with dementia at the end of life. Her professional background spans working with both children and older adults, including those living with Alzheimer's disease.   The inspiration for this project grew from Alder's personal experience witnessing her mother, who had Alzheimer's, connect meaningfully with her grandchildren—Alder's nieces and nephews. This powerful family experience, combined with her clinical work, deepened her commitment to helping families navigate dementia with compassion, creativity, and connection.   Alder is also an accomplished writer, having published several articles in professional journals and books. As a speaker and presenter in the field of disabilities, she has shared her insights on local, national, and international stages. Her advocacy and dedication to promoting quality of life for people with disabilities have been featured on CNN, as well as in international media and local news outlets.   About Mackenzie Meets Alzheimer's:   The Mackenzie Meets Alzheimer's Program (MMAP) is a family-centered multimedia educational program created to help children, parents, caregivers, educators, and healthcare professionals better understand and navigate Alzheimer's disease together.   Designed especially for families in the "sandwich generation," MMAP provides practical guidance, age-appropriate education, and meaningful activities that help children stay connected with a loved one living with Alzheimer's—from diagnosis through the severe stage of the disease.   At the heart of MMAP is the Mackenzie Meets Alzheimer's Awareness Program (MMAAP), a 5-video educational series that explains the different stages of Alzheimer's while also providing guidance for adults who are simultaneously raising children and caring for an aging loved one.   The program includes:   • A 5-video educational series covering the stages of Alzheimer's • Guidance for parents and caregivers helping children understand the disease • Simple, meaningful activities children can do with their loved one • A quick-reference guide and video transcripts • Accessible audio and visual resources for different learning needs • An online community component offering additional connection and support   One of the most important goals of MMAAP is helping children understand Alzheimer's in ways that are appropriate for their age—while showing them that even as the disease progresses, there are still opportunities to connect, interact, and create meaningful moments with the person they love.   The program is complemented by the Mackenzie Meets Alzheimer's Disease Picture Book, a gentle, child-friendly introduction to Alzheimer's that follows a young girl as she learns to understand and remain connected with her grandmother throughout the progression of the disease.   The book also includes a QR code providing access to a free Story Song download. The lyrics of the song are the text of the book, creating an engaging and memorable learning experience for young children, early readers, and families.   MMAP can also serve as a valuable educational resource for Adult Day Centers and Memory Care Communities. The ready-to-use program gives organizations a structured way to educate and support families, proactively answer common questions, and provide families with resources they can return to throughout their caregiving journey—allowing staff to devote more time to care, engagement, and meaningful connection.   Ultimately, the Mackenzie Meets Alzheimer's Program goes beyond explaining the disease.   It helps families understand what is happening, gives children a meaningful role in the caregiving journey, and provides families with tools to preserve relationships, create positive memories, and remain connected throughout Alzheimer's and other dementias.

424 The Savvy Flight Instructor: Greg Brown on CFI Jobs, Getting Hired, and Finding Students

Aviation News Talk podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 15, 2026 81:52

Max talks with Greg Brown about one of the most important—and often underestimated—roles in aviation: the flight instructor. Greg is one of aviation's most respected CFIs, writers, and pilot mentors. A pilot since 1972 and a flight instructor since 1979, he was named the 2000 Industry/FAA National Flight Instructor of the Year, became the first-ever Master Flight Instructor, and was inducted into the Flight Instructor Hall of Fame in 2021. Many pilots know Greg from his aviation books, including The Savvy Flight Instructor, The Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual, Flying Carpet, You Can Fly!, and Job Hunting for Pilots, as well as from his long-running "Flying Carpet" column in AOPA Flight Training magazine and his Cockpit Adventures from the Flying Carpet podcast. In this episode, Greg and Max focus on practical advice for people who are becoming CFIs, looking for CFI jobs, or trying to build a better flight instruction business. Greg explains that he did not become a flight instructor immediately after earning his private pilot certificate. By the time he earned his CFI, he had already accumulated a great deal of flying experience and had discovered that he loved teaching. He instructed about 800 hours in his first year while still holding another full-time job, and soon discovered that instruction could lead to unexpected aviation opportunities. One of Greg's key messages is that becoming a CFI should not be viewed as a dead end or merely a required stepping stone to an airline job. He tells the story of teaching an instrument student who owned a scientific instrument company. That student eventually invited Greg to become the company's chief pilot and help select and fly a cabin-class twin. Greg's point is that CFIs meet people, build trust, and create opportunities in ways that are impossible to predict. Greg also offers detailed advice on how new instructors can get hired. He explains that many applicants simply send resumes and end up in a large pile with everyone else. A smaller number know someone at the flight school. But the strongest applicants are those who have built a personal relationship with the owner, chief instructor, or people already working there. Greg urges aspiring CFIs to visit flight schools, ask for advice, stay in touch, and create a simple system to maintain relationships over time. In a tight CFI job market, he says, networking and reputation can be more important than raw hours. Max and Greg also discuss different paths into flight instruction, including academies, Part 61 flight schools, flying clubs, universities, and independent instruction. Greg says flying clubs can be a terrific environment because instructors often know their students, have access to aircraft, and may face less bureaucracy. They also discuss the idea of buying an airplane to teach in. While that can work for some instructors, Greg and Max point out the financial and insurance challenges, along with the practical limitation that when a student solos your airplane, you no longer have that airplane available for dual instruction. A major theme of the episode is that flight instructors must also learn marketing and sales. Greg recommends that CFIs create photo business cards with an airplane or cockpit image, a QR code, and contact information. He says the card does the work of explaining who you are and often starts conversations with people who may be interested in aviation. Greg also recommends having at least a simple web page, so potential students searching online for flight training or a local flight instructor can find you. Greg also strongly recommends earning a ground instructor certificate. He explains that the advanced ground instructor written test overlaps substantially with the commercial and flight instructor written tests, making it a practical step for many aspiring CFIs. Teaching ground school can help a future instructor get connected with a flight school, develop teaching skill, and attract future flight students. Max adds that teaching ground school before his CFI checkride made it far easier to stand at a board, explain concepts clearly, and teach an examiner during the practical test. The discussion then turns to how CFIs can earn more and build long-term credibility. Greg compares flight instruction to golf or tennis instruction: the best instructors are not necessarily the cheapest, but the ones who provide the most value. He recommends building references, earning additional instructor ratings, pursuing credentials such as Master Flight Instructor, and developing expertise. Max adds that specialization can move an instructor up the value chain. A CFI might become known for tailwheel training, glass cockpit instruction, instrument training, mountain flying, aircraft ownership, Cirrus training, Mooney training, or another niche. Greg and Max also explore the deeper human side of flight instruction. Greg tells two stories about challenging students. One student showed poor judgment and returned from a long solo cross-country with nearly empty tanks and a damaged wing after failing to refuel. Another student, a CFI applicant, performed terribly on a checkride because of severe test anxiety, even though he had been well prepared in training. Rather than dismiss him, Greg helped connect him with support. That student eventually became an airline captain. The lesson: some problems reflect character and judgment, while others are barriers a good instructor can help a pilot overcome. Near the end of the episode, Greg asks listeners to think of the flight instructor who most influenced their lives. Max names his primary instructor, Dick Johnston, and recalls how his advice still echoes decades later. Greg remembers his own primary instructor, Bob Vetter, who let him recover from an inadvertent spin under careful supervision and taught him lessons that shaped his own approach to instruction. Max closes by describing flight instructing as a sacred responsibility. CFIs are not merely preparing students for checkrides; they are helping pilots build the judgment and habits that may keep them alive for decades. Greg agrees and shares how meaningful it is to hear from former students, now airline captains, who still remember the role he played in their lives. This episode is both a practical guide to CFI jobs and a reminder that flight instructors can profoundly shape the future of the pilots they teach. What happens after the trade show? You collect hundreds of badge scans, business cards, and contacts… take them back to the office… dump them into your CRM… and then start following up a week or two later? If so, you may be losing some of your best opportunities before the follow-up even begins. In this episode of Trade Show University, Jim Cermak talks with Horacio Rilo, founder of BOOP, about one of the most overlooked—and most important—parts of trade show success: fast, effective follow-up. Horacio has talked with hundreds of trade show exhibitors and has seen firsthand how often companies wait weeks to follow up—even after investing hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in their trade show programs. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why the best time to schedule a follow-up meeting may be right at the trade show • Why Horacio believes the decay of buyer intent can happen almost immediately • Why waiting until you get back to the office may already be too late • Why simply scanning badges and dumping contacts into an automated email sequence isn't enough anymore • How your trade show follow-up actually starts BEFORE the show • How pre-show outreach can make your booth conversations warmer and make follow-up easier • Why exhibitors should focus less on selling and more on identifying genuine interest • How to "maintain control" of the follow-up process instead of leaving it up to the attendee • Why qualified meetings and pipeline are better measures of trade show ROI than simply counting leads • How being a better listener can make you more effective on the trade show floor Plus: Horacio explains BOOP BOOP is designed to make booking post-show meetings incredibly simple. An attendee can scan a QR code, send a text, and receive available meeting times—without downloading an app or relying on a complicated process. The system integrates with calendars and meeting platforms including Google Calendar, Outlook, Zoom, and Google Meet. Horacio also shares BOOP's current offer of $500 per event with unlimited scans and meetings, including setup. The Big Takeaway Don't make the attendee responsible for remembering you. You've invested heavily to get them to your booth. When someone shows genuine interest, don't simply hand them a business card and hope they'll follow up. Book the next step while the conversation—and the interest—is still fresh. And remember: your follow-up doesn't start after the show. It starts before the show.  EPISODE DESCRIPTION I sat down with Bobby from TEXITcoin, a man who has been manufacturing gold and silver coins since 2008, created the original physical Bitcoin coin in 2012, and testified before US Congress on crypto before most people had ever heard of it. In this episode, Bobby shares why he believes Bitcoin lost its original mission as peer-to-peer digital cash and became digital gold instead, and what he is doing about it. We dig into how he crowdfunded a community mining operation in his Texas garage, how TEXITcoin became the tenth largest Litecoin and Doge miner on the planet through merge mining, and why he is now building NectarPay, a zero-fee payment terminal network to get crypto accepted at real businesses. We also get into the big picture: the US dollar at 40 trillion in debt, Keynesian versus Austrian economics, Bitcoin retail adoption at a nine-year low, and what a Texas state securities case means for the future of TEXITcoin. This is one of the most grounded, no-nonsense conversations I have had about where honest money stands today and what it will take to get it into everyday hands. Worker Participation and Voicehttps://jo.my/8xdsnaA facility can have great procedures, clear signs, and solid training, but none of that matters if employees are afraid to speak up.The people doing the work often see hazards first. They notice the loose dock plate. They hear the strange sound from the conveyor. They see the shortcut that almost caused an injury. The real question is whether they feel safe enough to say something before a near miss becomes an ambulance call.Every staff member needs to know that their voices are heard. Doing so proves that management is listening and that their suggestions help build a strong safety culture. Here are a few tips to assist you with Worker Participation & Voice:Give employees a safe way to report near misses. Anonymous reporting can help employees share concerns without fear of blame or embarrassment. Keep the process simple. A QR code, drop box, online form, or dedicated hotline can work well. Most importantly, respond to what gets reported.Treat near misses as warnings, not failures. If someone reports that a pallet almost fell, please don't start by asking who was responsible. Ask what allowed it to happen. Near misses are free lessons. Use them before the lesson comes with an injury.Recognize Safety Champions for their actions, not their numbers. Be careful with rewards based only on injury-free days. That can pressure people into hiding injuries or staying quiet. Instead, recognize employees who report hazards, improve procedures, help coworkers, or suggest safer ways to work.Give every employee Stop Work Authority. Employees should know they can stop a task when they believe something is unsafe. No title should be required. No staff members should need permission before preventing an injury. Stop. Check. Correct.Close the communication loop. Employees will stop reporting problems if nothing seems to happen. Tell them what was found, what changed, and why. When a suggestion isn't used, explain the reason. As always, these are potential tips. Please be sure to follow the rules and regulations of your specific facility.Worker participation isn't about handing out suggestion forms and checking a box. It's about building trust. Employees need to know that speaking up won't put a target on their backs.A facility becomes stronger when employees understand that their voices matter. Encourage reporting. Reward the right behavior. Support Stop Work Authority. Please use every applicable safety suggestion whenever possible.Thank you for being part of another episode of Warehouse Safety Tips. Until we meet next time—have a great week and STAY SAFE!#Safety #5S #5S Methodology #Lean Manufacturing #SafetyCulture #StaySafe #SafetyFirst #SafetyTips #WorkerParticipation #NearMissReporting #StopWorkAuthority #SafeAndSoundWeek #SafetyLeadershipTakeaways:This episode emphasizes the need for a culture in which employees feel safe to voice concerns.Management must actively listen to employee feedback to foster a strong safety culture.Anonymous reporting mechanisms are crucial for encouraging employees to report safety issues.Recognizing safety champions is essential, but it should be based on actions rather than mere statistics.Every employee should possess the authority to halt unsafe work practices without fear of repercussions.Closing the communication loop is vital; employees need to see that their reports lead to tangible changes.Links referenced in this episode:mightylinetape.comwarehousesafetytips.comCompanies mentioned in this episode:Mighty Line

There's a type of heater setup that delivers heat right where you need it and can offer some important advantages over forced air heat, but we don't see many of them in the field. We think lack of knowledge about the technogy is the limiting factor, and it turns out there is also some customization involved, so we got ahold of John Wells at Rimol Greenhouse Systems to break it down for us. The tech we're talking about is called convection tube heating, and it has as much to do with how the heat is delivered as the specs of the heater itself.  The big difference from most heaters is that hot air goes into a plenum (like a manifold) that channels the hot air into multiple separate ducts that are attached to big, perforated plastic tubes that distribute the heat evenly through the greenhouse. The tubes typically run down pathways, and in vining crops they have the advantage of heating the air at the base of the plant, where disease tends to start, and rises from there warming the whole plant. In winter greens crops, it means growers can run the tubes under row cover and only heat the area under cover- meaning you only need to heat the fraction of the greenhouse where your crop is. Listen to this episode to learn about the specs needed to run such a system- plus best practices for cooling the greenhouse with shade cloth.  Connect With Guest: Website: rimol.com Instagram: @rimolgreenhouse Podcast Sponsors: Huge thanks to our podcast sponsors as they make this podcast FREE to everyone with their generous support: Farmhand is the all-in-one platform built for direct-market farms — CSA, farmers market, and farmstand growers who'd rather be in the field than juggling five different apps. Most people who want to speak on stage have no idea how the first step actually happens. JD Miller does. He is the CEO of the James Duane Group and SVP at CyberRisk Alliance, he runs events across the country, and he decides who gets a microphone and who does not. In this conversation, Sean Barnes and JD break down the real progression from nobody to keynote speaker. It starts with a phone and a tripod in your living room. It moves to a panel seat, then a fireside chat, then a short session, then the keynote. JD explains what he checks on LinkedIn before he books anyone, why he intentionally gives first-time speakers a slot, and why the ask should never come in the first conversation. They also get into why copying another speaker sets you up to fail, how one recorded conversation turns into a dozen assets, and why picking one platform beats being everywhere. Sean shares the six years he spoke for free and the mistake he made telling organizers he could talk about anything. JD shares the night he literally fell off the back of a stage and why it helped him. If you are an executive who wants a bigger voice and does not know where to start, this is the roadmap.   Key Moments 0:09 - How Sean and JD first met, and why the connection stuck 1:05 - JD's path: church announcements, sports anchor, thousands of broadcasts, hundreds of podcasts 2:21 - Sean's story: extreme introvert to keynote speaker, and why people do not believe it 2:51 - You can be a public speaker no matter where you land on the introvert scale 3:36 - Toastmasters, improv, and practicing into a microphone with nobody listening 4:19 - Why short-form clips train you to land the plane 5:39 - The worst thing you can do is compare yourself to someone with 30 years in 6:33 - Sean on speaking free for almost six years to get the reps 8:20 - The mistake of telling an organizer you can talk about anything 9:07 - Do not be the Cheesecake Factory of topics. Keep it small and specific 9:57 - How to actually get on a panel: build the network first 11:07 - Why JD books first-time speakers on purpose, and where he places them 12:27 - Build the relationship before you make the ask 13:14 - The QR code badge trick that removes friction 14:07 - Getting comfortable being uncomfortable 15:59 - Stage skills carry straight into the boardroom 16:14 - The extrovert's hardest lesson: let silence breathe 17:03 - Eye contact as a signal, on a panel and in a meeting 18:18 - How JD opens a room and gets an audience leaning forward 20:16 - Do not copy your mentor. Borrow traits and make them yours 22:32 - Document everything and build social proof 23:41 - What JD checks before he agrees to book someone 24:20 - One piece of content is really 12 pieces of content 26:08 - Know where your audience lives and stop trying to be everywhere 27:50 - The 4-1-1 approach to posting 29:11 - Be patient, and find a mentor who has done it 30:17 - Failure stories, including the time JD fell off the stage 31:31 - When you fumble, keep moving and never apologize 32:43 - The full path, start to keynote, in one recap 33:13 - Where to find JD   Key Takeaways Start smaller than you think you should. A phone on a tripod, a panel seat in the corner, four people in a room. Reps come before pay, and for Sean that meant roughly six years of speaking for free. Own one topic, not every topic. Telling an organizer you can speak on anything pushes the work onto them and cheapens your brand. A narrow, specific topic makes you easy to book. Build the relationship before the ask. Organizers check your LinkedIn for a voice and a track record before anything else. Show up, connect, create content, then ask next year.   Podcast Show Notes – Episode 294 | 08.11.2026 Episode Title: From Panels to Keynotes: The Real Path to Becoming a Speaker | JD Miller & Sean Barnes   Guest: JD Miller CEO, James Duane Group SVP, CyberRisk Alliance LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jdwaynemiller/ Website: https://www.jamesdwayne.com/   Host: Sean Barnes Wolf Executives, Houston, TX   Website: https://www.wolfexecutives.com   https://www.seanbarnes.com   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/seanbarnes/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/wolfexecutives https://www.linkedin.com/company/thewayofthewolf/ LinkedIn Newsletter: https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/7284600567593684993/   Twitter: https://x.com/seanbarnes https://x.com/wolfexecutives   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_seanbarnes https://www.instagram.com/wolfexecutives   TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@the_seanbarnes   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theseanbarnes

I interviewed Navid Khonsari & Vassiliki Khonsari about LILI on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Venice Immersive in Venice, Italy. Here is the story synopsis for LILI: "In an Iranian city, Lili, the lonely wife of a militia commander, plots a murder to secure her husband's rise within a corrupt regime. But when the killing unhinges the order of things, she is drawn into a network of deep web hackers — modern-day witches — who weaponise hidden truth. This stylised neo-noir game adaptation of Macbeth unfolds through smartphones, computer screens, and deep-state surveillance, immersing players as hackers in the oppressive surveillance state." Here are the contextual domains that are explored: Embody Hacker within the Surveillance State [12] context of an athoritarian government [10] as you watch someone in their home [4], and you're doing this through a computer and communications technology device [3]. Here is the Elemental Center of Gravity: 1st Center of Gravity of Fire Element / Active Presence: A screen life thriller with computer screen-based Interactions, operate computer2nd Center of Gravity of Water Element / Emotional Presence: Cut scenes of the Lady MacBeth character unfold, which are gated by you solving little interactive puzzles3rd Center of Gravity of Earth Element / Environmental and Embodied Presence: Site-specific installation, and lots of theatrical staging. It's not VR, and so you are primarly interfacing with a computer screen within the context of a hacker-like space. You're watching various action unfold over surveillance footage, but you also are primarily interfacing with a computer screen.4th Center of Gravity of Air Element / Mental and Social Presence: Possibility spaces of choices to make. There are some different endings, or at least a follow-up QR code to learn more about the identity of either being a rebel or enforcing the authoritarian rule. The primary mode of instruction comes via a chat window as you get clues for various puzzles that you have to solve. You face some mental friction with each puzzle, but then are rewarded with the progression of the story. There's also the symbolic connections and parallels to Shakespeare's MacBeth to add additional contextualization for how this story might adapt to the context of the authoritarian regime within Iran Archetypal Themes and Character Explored: Authoritarian tendancies as well as control "challenges them to question power, control, and complicity." Power, but bringing up questions of Justice. Artist Statement: "A bold reimagining of Macbeth set in present-day Iran, Lili centers on Lady Macbeth in a screen life thriller that embodies the kind of boundary-pushing work we champion at iNK Stories. Fusing film, theatre, and game design, it confronts rising surveillance and authoritarianism. Blending classic storytelling with AI and interactivity, Lili breaks cinematic convention — inviting audiences to step inside the narrative, make choices, and face consequences in a layered experience that challenges them to question power, control, and complicity." Breaking The Silence with Dr Gregory Williams ASL Picture Books and the Power of Accessible Communication Dr. Gregory Williams hosts Breaking the Silence with guest Kathleen Marcath for a heartfelt conversation about American Sign Language, deaf and hard-of-hearing children, inclusive picture books, My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere With Me, ASL classifiers, deaf representation, brain benefits, classroom learning, family communication, and the hope that sign language can become more visible, normal, and accessible for everyone. This week's guest is Kathleen Marcath. She is an award-winning author and Amazon best-seller who is celebrated for her engaging children's book. "My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere with Me" This book teaches children 32 signs in American Sign Language. Guest Spotlight: Kathleen Marcath This episode of Breaking the Silence, hosted by Dr. Gregory Williams and dated August 9, 2026, features guest Kathleen Marcath is the author of My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere With Me and related ASL learning resources. Dr. Gregory Williams Opens With Gratitude, Housekeeping, and Hope Dr. Gregory Williams opens from Houston, Texas, welcoming listeners, noting the approaching back-to-school season, and sharing updates about his own writing projects. He mentions the upcoming seventh anniversary of Breaking the Silence, gives call-in and text information, praises the BBS Radio team, and introduces the evening's guest as a subject he has never quite had on the show before. His personal connection is immediate: he recalls having deaf family members, watching relatives communicate through sign language, and wishing he had learned more himself. Kathleen Marcath's Path Into American Sign Language Kathleen explains that her interest in sign language began at a retreat where a group learned to sign the song “Our God Is an Awesome God.” That experience stayed with her, eventually leading her to study sign language at Madonna University. While taking a class that required her to choose and sign a picture book, she looked for children's books that naturally included signing children but could not find what she wanted. Years later, after working in schools and spending time with her grandson, she entered a writing contest and realized her story could become the kind of ASL picture book she had once searched for. Why Representation and Natural ASL Learning Matter The conversation highlights the importance of representing deaf and hard-of-hearing children in books and classrooms. Kathleen says American Sign Language is a full language, even though it is not spoken, and describes how children become excited when they learn it. She shares a classroom story about a child she calls Jonathan, who began to smile and participate more after using sign language activities to tell simple stories. Dr. Williams connects this to his own awe at watching deaf relatives communicate, emphasizing how powerful and overlooked this form of communication can be. My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere With Me and the 32 Signs Kathleen describes My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere With Me as a fun, natural way to introduce ASL. Each page includes at least one sign, and the book teaches 32 signs. To support readers, the back of the book includes QR codes linking to videos with deaf storytellers signing the story and teaching the signs with variations. Dr. Williams praises the book's layout, illustrations, and accessibility, noting that even someone unfamiliar with ASL can begin to understand what is being shown. Kathleen explains that babies can learn sign language from birth and emphasizes that it is not “baby sign language,” but sign language that babies learn. Deaf Illustration, Purple Monster Trucks, and ASL Classifiers Kathleen explains that it was important to her to work with a deaf illustrator, and she found Isaac Ling in Singapore, who created the storyboard and drawings, while Perdi Mira handled the coloring. Dr. Williams praises the book's bright color and asks about the purple monster truck, which Kathleen says emerged after the original red did not feel right. The discussion also explores ASL classifiers, especially the vehicle classifier used for the monster truck. Kathleen explains that after a signer identifies an object, a classifier can represent it throughout the story, making it a powerful storytelling tool. Activity Books, Schools, Seniors, and Untapped ASL Potential Kathleen discusses the companion coloring and activity book, which includes 77 pages of coloring, math, writing, clocks, handshapes, and activities meant to work for younger children as well as first-, second-, and third-grade students. Dr. Williams asks why ASL is not taught more widely in schools, and Kathleen points to deaf history, oralism, signing debates, teacher preparation, and the need for even small daily exposure when deaf children are present. She describes ASL as an untapped resource with unlimited potential, useful not only for children but also for seniors, couples, underwater communication, space, baseball signs, and everyday across-the-room communication. Website Resources, Freebies, and the Call for Broader Awareness Kathleen directs listeners to ASLPictureBooks.com, where people can find her books, blog, favorite-book resources, free charts, coloring pages, and information about classifiers, signer space, and sign selection. Dr. Williams repeatedly frames the book as a valuable gift for children, grandchildren, families, and anyone who wants a gentle introduction to ASL. Kathleen also mentions other authors and books connected with deaf representation, including stories about deaf and deaf-blind children and families learning to communicate. Together, they present ASL as not only practical, but normal, fun, brain-engaging, and deeply human. Closing Encouragement: Hope, Resilience, and Never Giving Up After saying goodbye to Kathleen, Dr. Williams closes with a message for children and families heading into the school year. He reminds listeners that no matter what they are facing, there is always a better day and always hope. Using the image of the sun setting behind him over the Texas Medical Center, he says that no matter how dark things get outside or inside, the sun will rise again tomorrow. He encourages children and adults to hold on, stay resilient, discover the resilience already inside them, and return next week for Chief Matt's appearance.

On this episode of Right On Radio host Jeff continues his multi-part series with author and researcher Tim Cohen, returning to their deep study of the Tribulation and the seven seals of Revelation. Jeff and Tim open with prayer and a brief recap of prior episodes, then dive into Tim's unconventional reading of Scripture that treats the Tribulation Week as a mirror of Christ's crucifixion week. Expect careful scripture references, theological reasoning, and timeline analysis rather than polemics. Key topics include the seven seals as roughly one seal per year, how Daniel 9:27 and the imposition of a treaty function as the trigger for the seven-year period, and the Greek and Hebrew technical details behind words like Stephanos (a victor's crown) and the Hebrew terms for “week,” “prince,” and “confirm/strengthen.” Tim highlights several modern events he sees as fitting those markers—most notably awards and crowns given to political leaders and the announcement of a multilateral “peace” roadmap—and explains why those events could mark the start of the Tribulation Week. They also cover geopolitical implications: a discussion of North Korea's symbolic role as the red horse (and how that relates to the onset of wider war), the dynamics of the Israel peace proposals and the controversial 20-point/15-point plans, and the broader forecast for global conflict and the coming world war under the seals. Tim describes how temple/tabernacle activity, hostage events, and regional conflict may fit into his proposed timeline. Tim spends significant time on calendar mechanics and biblical timekeeping—why a 360-day year matters in Revelation and Daniel, how traditional rabbinic adjustments shift modern feast dates by roughly 7–8 days, and why that affects attempts to pin Jesus' return to specific Hebrew feast days. He maps how these calendrical details factor into his date calculations and what listeners should watch for next. The episode also tackles practical end-times signs: Tim's argument that elements of the “mark of the beast” are already ingrained in modern commerce (UPC/EAN barcodes, QR codes and digital payment patterns), the moral and spiritual implications of participating in such systems, and everyday actions listeners can take now. Jeff and Tim discuss conscience, watching, and readiness for believers in light of these developments. Tim shares personal background, the ministry needs behind ProphecyHouse.com, and a plea for support—explaining that he lives modestly, self-publishes extensive multi-volume research, and seeks partners to fund translations, covers, audio, and wider distribution so his material can be made freely available. He references several forthcoming or in-progress works, including multi-volume treatments on Messiah history, the Solar Apocalypse series, North Korea and World War III, and studies on the mark of the beast. Closing segments preview the next conversation (including Apophis and the fourth seal), and encourage listeners to re-listen to the earlier seal episodes, visit ProphecyHouse.com for Tim's books and resources, and to prayerfully watch current signs. If you're interested in prophecy, biblical chronology, and how modern events might fit prophetic patterns, this episode offers a detailed, provocative, and scripture-heavy case that challenges conventional timelines.
