Erik and Chris are back to argue about station wagons, T-shirt disasters, and the everyday struggle of finding a decent haircut or coffee spot. They share Family Feud set stories, talk about overpriced barbers, and swap takes on sitcom roles and behind-the-scenes chaos. DC's Superman obsession gets roasted, every recent actor gets a quick verdict, and a caller sparks candid debate about spilled beers at concerts. The episode wraps with digs at lip ring age limits, honest hits on Houston rap, Will Smith's new freestyle, forgotten actors, alarm song routines, and sitcom nostalgia—no hype, just what happened. After a turbulent year in which Trayon White was indicted, reelected, and then expelled from the Council, he is now projected to win the Ward 8 special election held Tuesday. Residents are hoping to move forward.
This week, the crew dives into a packed lineup of stories shaping music, pop culture, and society. They kick things off with a DC debate: Are teen curfews necessary or overreach? Plus, they celebrate Angel Reese's big moment on NBA2K26. In the Music & Culture Rundown, they break down: • Megan Thee Stallion's lawsuit drama, asking if it's about real trauma or clout, and what celebs owe their teams. • Nicki Minaj's fiery Roc Nation rant, exploring if she's blackballed or just beefing. • Beyoncé's powerful Cowboy Carter shows in DC, blending country, Black southern roots, and American symbolism. They also get into Young Thug's cryptic “snitching” tweet amid his RICO trial, fresh details in the Jeffrey Epstein case, and Trump's “Big Bill”—wondering if it's real policy or campaign fluff. New music spotlight: Ty Dolla $ign drops TyCOON, aiming to prove he's more than just a hook king. Is it working, or does he still shine best as a feature? There's a fun detour on the greatest TV theme songs, plus which shows they'd resurrect for another season. Then it's a big question: Is it finally time for Drake to take a break? With contract rumors swirling and fans debating his longevity, the hosts weigh if stepping back might actually boost his legacy. We close with a quick look at the Camp Mystic flood in California and what it means for the future of outdoor festivals in a climate-challenged world. In the wrap-up, they shout out favorite moments, tease next week's episode, and ask listeners: Who are you backing—Nicki, Megan, or the culture?

Jesse Pollak grew up in Washington, DC, attending a Quaker school through graduating in high school. He played competitive soccer, which was a huge part of his life. Eventually, he moved to SoCal to attend school at Berkley. He got the bug to start a company, and only lasted 2 years at school - before he ventured out on his own. Eventually, his company got acquired by Coinbase, which opened up a whole new world for him. Outside of tech, he is married with a 4 month old boy. He doesn't drink caffeine, but daily, enjoys a decaf cappuccino. In December 2021, Jesse and his team were wondering in the desert for a while, trying to figure out what was next on-chain. After considering what AWS and Heroic was for Web 2.0, they figured out that in order to go build the apps that companies like Coinbase had, they needed a foundational layer in the ecosystem to fuel that development. This is the creation story of Base.SponsorsPaddle.comSema SoftwarePropelAuthPostmanMeilisearchMailtrap.TECH Domains (https://get.tech/codestory)Linkshttps://www.base.org/https://www.coinbase.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessepollak/Our Sponsors:* Check out Vanta: https://vanta.com/CODESTORYSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/code-story/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Today's Headlines: President Trump spent the weekend firing off social media rants, watching FIFA with a celebrity entourage (including Melania and Pam Bondi), and threatening Rosie O'Donnell's citizenship. Behind the scenes, tensions rose within the DOJ as FBI deputy Dan Bongino considered resigning over internal clashes about the Epstein investigation, and new reports revealed Kash Patel's FBI is forcing agents to take polygraphs over disloyalty suspicions. Elsewhere, a deadly shooting in Kentucky left four dead, and two major wildfires destroyed historic structures at the Grand Canyon's North Rim. More flash flood warnings hit already-devastated parts of Texas, where FEMA is under fire for letting a flood-prone summer camp avoid safety requirements. Globally, a Palestinian-American was killed by Israeli settlers, as Israel-Hamas talks remain stalled and airstrikes intensify. Trump threatened more tariffs—including 200% on pharmaceuticals—while hinting at a major Russia-related announcement today. NATO's new chief will visit DC this week, just as the State Department undergoes 15% staff cuts. Meanwhile, House Republicans kick off “Crypto Week” ahead of a key vote on the GENIUS Act.
