Today on the Unbeatable Mind, Mark Divine is diving deep into the first of the seven commitments necessary to forge elite teams—--courage. Mark, drawing from his Navy SEAL background, breaks down the foundational importance of courage—--and why it serves as a crucial gateway to the higher energies of growth, acceptance, and love.    Mark reveals how courage is not just about charging forward, but rather about the willingness to face our deepest fears, embrace risk, and refuse to stay in our comfort zone. He provides actionable strategies for cultivating courage, like practicing the art of letting go, or simulating challenging scenarios through what he calls “reality-based training”.    Mark candidly reflects on the ongoing struggle with ego, vulnerability, and the power of forgiveness. Delving into the importance of aligning one's daily actions with their greater purpose and principles, Mark highlights how leading yourself and others through adversity sometimes means walking away from old environments and relationships.  Key Takeaways:  Training For Risk: Learn how embracing risk means preparing for it—-facing your fears and building competence.   Living By Your Personal Ethos: Realize how true transformation comes from aligning your actions with your deepest values—-even when it's hard.    Courage as Inaction: Note that courage can be subtle—as much as it's about action, many times it's about restraint—-having the wherewithal NOT to speak or react to a situation.    The Importance of Self-Reflection: Discover that in order to live by your personal ethos, you must UNDERSTAND what your personal ethos is. Doing so requires reflection on what you value, and what you won't compromise on.   Mark Divine is a former Navy SEAL Commander, entrepreneur, and NYT Bestselling author with PhD in Global Leadership and Change who has dedicated his life to unlocking human potential through integrated training in mental toughness, leadership, and physical readiness. Mark's journey began in New York City, where his fascination with eastern philosophy and martial arts set the stage for a transformative path. After a successful stint as a consultant at PriceWaterhouse Coopers, he made the pivotal decision to join the Navy SEALs at 25. Over two decades of service, Mark commanded critical missions globally, retiring as a Commander in 2011. Mark has trained elite organizations including Google, Nike, SpaceX, Boeing, Harvard University, The Olympics, YPO, and many others.Co-founding ventures such as SEALFIT, Unbeatable Mind, LLC, and Coronado Brewing Company have allowed Mark to blend his military expertise with entrepreneurial spirit. Brent Charleton, President and CEO of Enwave Corporation joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a new partnership with ELEA Technology, a global leader in pulsed electric field technology. This agreement allows ELEA to use EnWave's Radiant Energy Vacuum technology in combination with PEF pre-treatment to create healthier potato and vegetable snacks. The goal is to reduce or eliminate frying while maintaining superior taste, texture, and nutrition. As part of the agreement, ELEA will lease a 10kW REV™ machine at its German facility starting in February 2025 for a minimum three-month term. Charleton emphasized that combining PEF and REV™ technologies offers significant potential to redefine snack production by delivering high-quality products with fewer unhealthy processes. In addition to this partnership, EnWave shared strong consolidated financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ending September 30, 2024. The company reported a 149% increase in Q4 revenue compared to the same period in 2023. This growth was driven by the resale of a large-scale machine and higher royalties. EnWave also achieved a 243% increase in gross margins, reflecting improved operational efficiency and growing demand for its technology. EnWave also announced the appointment of Louise Lalonde to its Board of Directors as the new Audit Committee Chair. Description:  Your WakeUp Call begins when you start to challenge conventional thinking. When you empower yourself to break free from the daily grind. When you choose to design your own lifestyle and economy. In this episode, Carmen and Paul dived in to the intricacies of structuring family-owned businesses and managing real estate investments. They discuss the use of subsidiaries, parent entities, and the advantages and challenges of various business structures. Additionally, they explore the benefits of self-directed IRAs for real estate investing, tax planning strategies, and asset structuring for optimal financial management and intergenerational wealth transfer. Key Takeaways: Utilizing subsidiaries and a parent entity can streamline management and consolidate filings for family-owned businesses operating in multiple states. Separate entities and accounts are essential for managing real estate investments, with technology playing a crucial role in consolidation and integration. Self-directed IRAs offer asset protection, tax benefits, and investment diversification opportunities for real estate investing, but require careful management. Tax planning strategies, such as considering residency and transferring assets to states with favorable tax laws, are crucial for effective estate management and legacy creation. Asset structuring and tax planning should align with personal goals and lifestyle design, with assets being a means to achieve specific purposes rather than an end goal in themselves. When you think about the word "cyberthreat," what first comes to mind? Is it ransomware? Is it spyware? Maybe it's any collection of the infamous viruses, worms, Trojans, and botnets that have crippled countless companies throughout modern history. In the future, though, what many businesses might first think of is something new: Disinformation. Back in 2021, in speaking about threats to businesses, the former director of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Chris Krebs, told news outlet Axios: “You've either been the target of a disinformation attack or you are about to be.”That same year, the consulting and professional services firm Price Waterhouse Coopers released a report on disinformation attacks against companies and organizations, and it found that these types of attacks were far more common than most of the public realized. From the report: “In one notable instance of disinformation, a forged US Department of Defense memo stated that a semiconductor giant's planned acquisition of another tech company had prompted national security concerns, causing the stocks of both companies to fall. In other incidents, widely publicized unfounded attacks on a businessman caused him to lose a bidding war, a false news story reported that a bottled water company's products had been contaminated, and a foreign state's TV network falsely linked 5G to adverse health effects in America, giving the adversary's companies more time to develop their own 5G network to compete with US businesses.”Disinformation is here, and as much of it happens online—through coordinated social media posts and fast-made websites—it can truly be considered a "cyberthreat." But what does that mean for businesses? Today, on the Lock and Code podcast with host David Ruiz, we speak with Lisa Kaplan, founder and CEO of Alethea, about how organizations can prepare for a disinformation attack, and what they should be thinking about in the intersection between disinformation, malware, and cybersecurity. Kaplan said:"When you think about disinformation in its purest form, what we're really talking about is people telling lies and hiding who they are in order to achieve objectives and doing so in a deliberate and malicious life. I think that this is more insidious than malware. I think it's more pervasive than traditional cyber attacks, but I don't think that you can separate disinformation from cybersecurity."Tune in today. Eric DeVries is a seasoned tax, accounting, and technology expert with over 20 years of experience. He spent 11 years working on their National team at Pricewaterhouse Coopers and worked with Deloitte and DaimlerChrysler's North American headquarters. In 2008, he founded DEVRIESE & ASSOCIATES, a full-service CPA firm in Northern Florida. Building on his extensive experience and knowledge, he recognized a shift in the accounting industry. He founded RealTime CPAs, a one-of-a-kind firm that is paving the way for the industry's future.  In this conversation, Eric discusses how Dental CPAs differ from regular CPAs and how they help dentists in their practice. He talks about the current trend of dental practices acquired by DSOs, the challenges sellers face in navigating the marketplace, and the value of having representation during negotiations. Eric also shares stories about successful strategies that dentists have used to increase profitability in their practices, including holding staff accountable for treatment plans and using accountable plans for health insurance. Key Takeaways: Dental CPAs specialize in serving dentists and deeply understand the industry and its unique challenges. Selling a dental practice to a DSO can be a good option, but sellers should be aware of the equity play and the potential pitfalls of accepting unsolicited offers. Representation during negotiations can help level the playing field for sellers and ensure they get the best deal possible. Strategies such as holding staff accountable for treatment plans and using accountable plans for health insurance can help dentists increase profitability in their practices. Dental CPAs can also help sellers with representation during the selling process, ensuring they get the best deal possible. Dental practices are highly sought-after, and prices have increased significantly over the years due to competition from private equity firms and other buyers. Dental CPAs can provide valuable advice on increasing practice profitability, such as improving collections and case acceptance rates. Dental CPAs can also offer strategies for reducing healthcare costs, such as setting up an accountable plan for health insurance. Working with a Dental CPA can provide dentists with specialized expertise and advice tailored to their unique needs and challenges in the industry.
