Have you wondered what Próspera is all about?Start with the founders. Gabriel Delgado Ayau is the co-founder and chief development officer (CDO) of the zero-to-one modern startup city in Honduras. This is an extensive episode where we talk about Gabriel's past in Guatemala as a serial entrepreneur that founded 17 startups, learning about the challenges for entrepreneurs in Central America, and how his grandfather's teachings showed him a better way - radically improving the institutions towards a free society. We talk about Próspera's founding history, the governance model of radical decentralization and regulatory flexibility combined with insurance risk assessment.First and foremost, Próspera's goal is to propel economic development for Honduras by providing better institutions to live, work and play.Consider this claim: if the bottom 75% of the world would implement the governance of the top 25%, the economic value created would be an additional $100 trillion (!).**In the episode, Gabriel mistakenly says $1tn, the true number is indeed $100tn.And this is not all. The famous blogger Scott Alexander once said:"To my biased eye, Próspera's institutions aren't just better than Honduran institutions. They might well be better than the institutions of America, Europe, and the rest of the developed world. Some of their ideas - 3D property rights, modular construction, common law regulatory options, medical reciprocity laws - are genuinely innovative, the first in the world. They're things that intellectuals have been discussing for decades, and then suddenly some progressive-minded people get jurisdiction to try them out in and see if they work."This episode is an extended riff and deep-dive into this quote and should give any entrepreneur reason to be curious enough. It's almost hard to believe, which is why Gabriel and Niklas call on entrepreneurs to check it out for themselves, by joining the next couple of summits, taking place on the Caribbean paradise island of Roatan.Supercharging Health 2023 - A Próspera Builders' Summit, April 21-23 on Roatan: https://infinitavc.com/healthbio2023Decentralizing Finance 2023 - A Próspera Builders' Summit, May 5-7 on Roatan: https://infinitavc.com/defi2023Legal Engineering 2023 - A Próspera Builders' Summit, May 10-11 on Roatan: https://lu.ma/legalengineering2023

And here we are, going, "You know what? Let's just give cows grass. Let's just move them the way they should be moved." And it's so funny because it sounds insane when you're telling people in the industry, but it's so effective. It improves profitability. It improves biodiversity. It improves the water systems, as I mentioned. And then they can make money off it, too. On being a female entrepreneur25:50 - There are so many investors now who recognize the benefits of women entrepreneurs because of how hard working we are and we can really get things done. How growing up on a ranch influenced her career choices13:23 - You really see the impacts of the environmental changes and what that means. And when those occur, you see what that impact is on the towns nearby too. So when there are huge droughts, heat waves, et cetera, you're seeing that first hand because you're actually looking at the land every day.The importance of having a support system as an entrepreneur20:01- It's so important not to get completely lost in your business and to have people who are still supporting you, so that when you are in a tough time like that, there are others you can rely on. You're not just sitting there, stressed, alone, crying out by yourself, going, you know, what's going on? You have folks you can lean on.Show Links: Professional Profile at Sharks In Heels Lauren Miller on LinkedIn

This episode features Rory with special guest Guy Pearson, the founder, and CEO of Practice Ignition, a technology company focusing on assisting accounting and bookkeeping firms by offering online proposals, automated billing, and other useful managerial tools. Practice Ignition works with over 5000 firms globally, with offices in Australia, New Zealand, UK, the US, and Canada. He touches on the differences in technology and how the US is few years behind their Australian and New Zealand counterparts, from real-time bank data feeds to their online filing system with AGI, which they've had since the '90s. Guy talks about how technology enables firms to segment information to better understand their client base. Though robots are far from having qualitative conversations and identifying exactly what clients need, automated platforms such as Practice Ignition have allowed accounting firms to boost revenue and client satisfaction because of their bundled services. In this episode, Guy also lays out the foundation of what he looks for when deciding whether or not to invest in a company as an angel investor, emphasizing the importance of finding founders who have felt the pain of what they're trying to solve. What makes an Uber driver more appealing to people than their accountant? Find out in Guy and Rory's insightful discussion this episode. You can't miss it!

He's an aerospace engineer with a Ph.D. in advanced space propulsion, masters in strategic leadership towards sustainability and a Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship. “it's definitely having a vision, making a plan and be ready to change the plan but make sure that whatever you do follow a very simple algorithm that we use basically every day for every decision. So, when you have to take a decision ask yourself is this decision going in the right direction? Yes or no? If it is no, you just discard it. Is it an open platform? So even if you are not really getting to your final destination is it helping you to move forward later on or is it a dead-end? And the third is the most important… Can I get a benefit in the short-term? That could be an economic benefit or any other sort of benefit but show be a benefit in the short-term otherwise it means that it's not the right moment to take that action. And the last aspect I already mentioned before… Do not give up.”…[Listen for More] Click Here for Show Notes To Listen or to Get the Show Notes go to https://wp.me/p6Tf4b-lLu

But enough about me. So how does one become the CEO of a fast-growing suit company? Well, Drew started his journey as a kinesiology student with a love for basketball. He immediately took an entrepreneurial path to starting a personal training business which he later sold to travel the world and enter into the world of technology companies. A material influence to Drew's unique career journey has been Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, a fiction book like no other. I personally love this book as well and we go through the various elements of the book that influenced Drew on his journey and his current philosophies on business and life. Though this was a short interview we try to traverse through the very windy journey Drew went through from his athletic years to technology, his current focus with Indochino and more.

Gordon Smith, dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, once said: “I want BYU to be known as, if not the most innovative law school in the country, then one of the most innovative law schools in the country.” Since becoming dean in 2016, Smith has worked tirelessly to make that happen, launching the nationally recognized LawX legal design lab, developing courses to teach non-traditional skills such as leadership, storytelling, and business ethics, launching clinical programs around unique skills such as entrepreneurship and conflict resolution; and spearheading development of the Law and Corpus Linguistics project. On this episode of LawNext, Smith sits down in his Provo, Utah, office with host Bob Ambrogi for a conversation about what it means for a law school to innovate and why it matters to the students, the school and the community at large. Smith also talks about BYU Law’s initiatives to expand its influence on a global sphere. Smith has taught at six law schools in the U.S., as well as law programs in Australia, China, England, Finland, France, Germany, and Hong Kong. Earlier in his career, he was associate director of the Initiative for Studies in Technology Entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin, where he launched the annual Law & Entrepreneurship Retreat. More recently, he co-founded the Law & Entrepreneurship Association, a scholarly society that encourages the study of law and entrepreneurship. He is also one of the founding faculty members of the Crocker Innovation Fellowship at BYU. In 2004, Smith co-founded (with Christine Hurt, also of BYU Law School) The Conglomerate Blog, a popular law professor blog focusing on business law. NEW: We are now Patreon! Have you been doing sales wrong all along? Why basing sales on data and not just intuition is important? What are the challenges when working with different countries? How to get your sales team work as one unit? Dimitar Stanimiroff talks to the host Shira Abel about pushing sales teams into using a new methodology in this week’s episode of SaaS Insider. About Dimitar Stanimiroff • Dimitar is the founder and CEO of Heresy - a workflow and analytics platform that helps salespeople make data-driven decisions and allows sales teams to always stay in sync. • Before launching Heresy, Dimitar served as the MD EMEA at Stack Overflow. Prior to joining SO, he co-founded OVIA (now WePow). Dimitar holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and a master's degree in Technology Entrepreneurship from University College London. Key Takeaways: • Commission should be there not to motivate salespeople to do the right thing, but as something that doesn't prevent them from it. • If you want your sales team to believe in a new methodology, show them results. • Allowing a sales team to work on one common goal with little supervision from a sales manager can change the way they think and bring you more profit. This week, we have two beautiful Dutch twins on the show to discuss equality, women in business, dating the same guy and how they built a global drinks franchise. Joyce and Raissa de Haas, identical twins separated by 11 minutes at birth, are young entrepreneurs fearlessly engaged in corporate battle with the likes of Schweppes and Fentimans. They’ve launched a line of drink mixers under the “Double Dutch” brand and their product range has recently been picked up by Richard Branson for distribution in the US market. Joyce, the older CEO, explains that a university talent for making cocktails in their dorm kitchen was the initial inspiration. After college, both girls came to London to study at UCL, achieving Master’s Degrees in Finance and Technology Entrepreneurship. Describing the origins of Double Dutch’s latest flavor - pomegranate and basil - Joyce explains, “Well, in my dissertation…” It’s the first time I’ve heard a beverage recipe come out of an academic inquiry! In this wide-ranging discussion, we talk about flavor engineering, kissing the same guy, Dutch attitudes towards women in the workplace, and the criminal potential of running a lucrative business with your identical twin. This is a light-hearted episode you don’t want to miss!
