This episode is all about my favorite theme… collaboration! In talking with Natalie Asaro of Petcurean Pet Nutrition, it was awesome to learn how their team works together with others in the pet food industry. We talked about some of the trends in the pet food industry as pet parents are getting more involved and invested in the ingredients they feed their dogs. Petcurean is leading the way with research into sustainable ingredients like black soldier fly larvae. I also enjoyed learning about how they're making nutrition accessible to all pet parents with three different brands at three different price points. It's interesting to think about how all of us could offer something like this in our pet brands. Another lesson we can all learn from this conversation with Natalie is about providing honest and thorough customer service. The pet nutritionist team at Petcuriean is available to share food advice with pet parents, and they might even recommend a different brand if nothing they carry is the right fit for the pet. I love how transparent that is! It shows how everyone on the team really cares the most about pet health. At the end of the day, it's all about healthy pets!

Something that's become more and more common on the web is the use of harassment tactics. Skeptics and archaeologists have not been spared from being on the receiving end of these campaigns, so let's have a serious discussion about this. I will look into the harassment campaign by Graham Hancock and Jimmy Corsetti and previous attacks concerning the Bosnian Pyramids and Gungun Padang. I will examine the relationship between the manosphere and pseudo-history and their draw into the alt-right speaking points. Parts of the section are based on a talk by the president of ESCO, Claire Klingenberg. In addition, with the newly released book "The Routledge Companion to Gender, Media and Violence" and Lucy Cookes "Bitch: A revolutionary guide to sex, evolution and the female animal."Then, we will also look into the Asaro Mudmen and see how quickly a tradition can evolve. Especially when it plays into the Western romanticization of tribal culture. Can a tradition be copyrighted, and can some practices be considered a commodity? These are all valid questions when Asaro is trying to defend a practice that originated in 1950.In this episode:Harassment, manosphere, and new media 3:25Asaro Mudmen 21:30Contact:Website: https://diggingupancientaliens.comEmail: fredrik@diggingupancientaliens.comFacebook: facebook.com/Digging-up-Ancient-Aliens-108173641647111/Twitter: twitter.com/DUAncientAliensInstagram: instagram.com/digging_up_ancient_aliens/TikTok: tiktok.com/@digging_up_ancient_alienStore: https://diggingupancientaliens.com/merchBecome a supporter! Mark Asaro, director of investments at Noble Wealth Management, says investors should not think that a traditional open-end mutual fund is a good replacement for individual bonds. Without a maturity date, bond funds don't have the pull toward par of an individual bond. Closed-end funds, however, are immune to dilution from cash flows into the fund, thereby providing a stable yield that investors can bank on, making them a better portfolio mix with individual bonds. Asaro notes that closed-end bond funds work best when the yield curve is upward sloping -- as opposed to today's heavy inversion -- but notes that there are selective opportunities looking strong now, notably in funds which buy municipal bonds.

Abstract: Phosphatidylethanolamine metabolism plays essential roles in eukaryotic cells but has not been completely resolved due to its complexity. This is because lipid species, unlike proteins or nucleic acids, cannot be easily manipulated at the single molecule level or controlled with subcellular resolution, two of the key factors toward understanding their functions. Here, we use the organelle-targeting photoactivation method to study PE metabolism in living cells with a high spatiotemporal resolution. Containing predefined PE structures, we designed probes which can be selectively introduced to the ER or mitochondria to compare their metabolic products according to their subcellular localization. We combined photo-uncaging method with dual stable isotopic labeling to track PE metabolism in living cells by mass spectrometry analysis. Our results reveal that both mitochondrial- and ER-released PE participate in phospholipid remodeling, and that PE methylation can be detectable only under particular conditions. Thus, our method provides a framework to study phospholipid metabolism at subcellular resolution. Copy rights belong to original authors.

Do you binge-watch/stream television? Do you pick up your phone/tablet/computer and start scrolling through social media? “We upgrade our phones all the time, but inadvertently it downgrades a lot of our social and personal skills.” -Yuval Harari All of these passive strategies will give you a short-term "hit of feel-good," and a poor long-term, residual benefit. “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer.” -Jim Carrey What if instead of these passive actions, you chose an active response; to exercise for 5-10minutes? Or meditate for 5-10 minutes? What if you went for a walk or bike ride outside and visited nature? These all have both a short-term positive impact, as well as a positive, long-term, residual benefit. Not only do we receive the short-term "hit of feel-good," we also build long-term health and well-being from these activities. We invite you to join us, and embrace the magic on the other side of the boredom! The inhabitants of Komunive village, Asaro River, in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, are famous for their fearsome clay headdresses and dramatic ritualised celebrations of custom in the form of dance performances. For one week only, four Asaro Mud Men were in residence at the Australian Museum. The Asaro Mud Men have gained prominence as an ‘intercultural phenomenon’ and reflect how communities respond to aspects of modernisation and globalisation through their Holosa masks and performances "The whole idea of bringing the community here is to have that close engagement with the Australian public. …it seems like there is a collective amnesia about who we are as a nation in the 21st century, who our neighbours are, and how close we are to Papua New Guinea." Yvonne Carillo, Senior Collections Officer, Pacific Collections at the Australian Museum. This Live at the AM night talk asked the questions: How do museums make new acquisitions today? How important is the inclusion of indigenous makers' perspectives in the process of making objects, filming and bringing their own newly produced cultural objects to the Australian Museum? This distinguished panel will tackle these key questions, in conversation with acclaimed Australian journalist Sean Dorney, who has had a long standing relationship with Papua New Guinea. The panel featured members of the Komunive community (Asaro valley, Eastern Highlands, Goroka), documentary filmmaker Ms Klinit Barry and pacific specialist and Asaro Project Manager, Yvonne Carrillo-Huffman. This conversation provides a rare opportunity to explore the team’s field and travelling experiences of this major collaborative cultural project between the Australian Museum, the Komunive community, filmmakers from the University of Goroka, and the J.F.K McCarthy Museum (Goroka), commissioning a new collection of Holosa masks and filming the acquisition process.

He began developing the theory of co-opetition not long after he was selected out of law school as lawyer-clerk to the California Courts of Appeal. He went on to receive the highest-category law career peer review, Preeminent, Martindale Hubbell rating, and appeared in Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the World. Engaged in litigation most of his career, he honed skills proving or disproving facts and stories – a handy talent for a novelist and a theorist. Moreover, as a patent holder, he shows a creative knack. This he calls upon in weaving the most exciting tale of The Tortoise Shell Code, a fiction work in Admiralty – one of his fields, and in nailing the theories of this non-fiction corollary, A Primal Wisdom. In those early days when he was an Appellate court law clerk, his creativity became a major component in developing the theory of the products liability holding of Greenman v Yuba Power Products - further expanded by the California Supreme court. A major part of the Greenman opinion is now the law in the English speaking and European Union countries of the world. Peter Asaro is Assistant Professor at the School of Media Studies in the New School for Public Engagement, New York. His work examines the interfaces between social relations, human minds and bodies, artificial intelligence and robotics, and digital media. His current research focuses on the social, cultural, political, legal and ethical dimensions of military robotics and UAV drones, from a perspective that combines media theory with science and technology studies. Although dealing with topics similar to previous guests Noel Sharkey and Wendell Wallach, Asaro comes at it from a very different perspective – combining a range of different academic disciplines and with an eye to the interaction between technology and complex social networks. He has also been very creative in using alternative outlets for his research, including the movie Love Machine, featuring Daniel Dennett, Rodney Brooks, Hubert Dreyfus and a host of other leading philosophers. We spend most of the episode talking about the dramatic and subtle effects of robotics, when it comes the love, war and labour. Asaro also sheds light on much early work in cybernetics, as well as the notion of participatory design
