Many of us think of the arts as entertainment or a luxury of some kind. But In their New York Times Bestselling Book: Your Brain on Art, authors Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross invite us to open our minds and consider a breathtaking expansion of this limited view of what the arts are, and the power they hold to transform our lives both individually and collectively. Ivy, who serves as Chief Design Officer for Consumer Devices at Google, and has previously held executive positions spanning from head of product design and development to CMO and presidencies with several of the world's leading companies, including Calvin Klein, Swatch, Coach, Mattel, and Gap.And Susan who is the founder and director of the International Arts + Mind Lab at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she also serves as a faculty member, Originally came together through a cold outreach email on LinkedIn.That email turned into a 3 hour conversation,Which ultimately led to a 4 year journey of discovery, writing and research. In today's conversation they will share the fruits of this unlikely and extraordinary collaboration -As they offer insights, research, and practices that shed light on the new science of neuroaesthetics. And the possibility we find ourselves standing in front of:A cultural shift in which the arts can deliver potent, accessible, and proven solutions for the well-being of everyone.Susan and Ivy argue that this new understanding about how the arts and aesthetics can help us Holds the potential to transform traditional medicine, build healthier communities, and mend an aching planet. And that unlocking this potential is not about seeking something outside of us, But rather, is about returning to the creative and artistic expression we freely experienced as children.Embracing art not as a luxury, or an escape,But as our evolutionary birthright. For more on Ivy, Susan, their beautiful book Your Brain on Art, please visit yourbrainonart.com. I found a “combo” meal today for us to “digest” and take to heart a little bit. The first one is from Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) who reminds us to “Surround yourself with people that push you to be better. No drama, jealousy, or mess. Just higher goals, good vibes and positive energy.” One key that hit me here is that I reminded myself that I also need to be this for myself and for others. It seems we have so many to choose from that are the complete opposite of encouragers. The world needs more of them for sure. The “second course” came from Inspiration & More (@LifeWithJohn) where this great advice was shared: “Be someone's cheerleader! At one time or another, we can all use extra encouragement!” We all can be that for ourselves and others. The world needs this too more than ever. Just take a few seconds to see how much encouragement is needed in and around where you are in life. Thanks for listening. Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show. That's a big transition, and some people don't handle it very well — they really kind of fall apart.” “Success is living out the life that you have been handed. Your identity was predestined in some ways … but when I see someone living out their calling in life, regardless of how wealthy they are, that's what success is.” “To be successful at anything, you have to live consistently and with repetition to do whatever it is that you want to do well.” “I can't control an outcome. I'm not that powerful, I'm not that good. But I can always put myself in the position to succeed.” BOOKS MENTIONED: 48 Days to the Work You Love: Preparing for the New Normal by Dan Miller (https://a.co/d/34MIxq6) The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success and Happiness by Jeff Olson, John David Mann (https://a.co/d/27XN0BW) ASSESSMENT TOOL: Jordan Peterson Big 5 Personality Test USEFUL RESOURCES: https://www.garychupik.com/ https://www.elitemindsetnation.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/gary-chupik-22aba6161/ https://www.instagram.com/elitemindset/ https://www.facebook.com/gary.chupik https://x.com/chupik_gary CONNECT WITH JOHN Website - https://iamjohnhulen.com LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnhulen Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/johnhulen Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/johnhulen X - https://x.com/johnhulen YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLX_NchE8lisC4NL2GciIWA EPISODE CREDITS Intro and Outro music provided by Jeff Scheetz - https://jeffscheetz.com/

Donald Trump not only has taken over the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, he's taking over the honors show as the Host! And, they are honoring all kinds of great conservatives. Tom Homan makes it clear... DC is not a sanctuary city anymore as they are rounding up illegals everywhere. In KC, the chair of the KC fed wants to keep interest rates high. Is he trying to get fired? The Royals fell way behind Wednesday and stormed all the way back just for Charlie Sheen to puke up another one. They'll never make it to the post season with this guy pitching in 50/50 games. The Chiefs wrap up training camp, we'll tell you what Andy likes about his team. Eli Drinkwitz has a very strong opinion about the college football playoffs, we'll play the clip for you. Jerry Jones has a secret, the Dolphins don't know how to practice and we have to work to get Trump on Mt. Rushmore.

This encore episode features passionate human rights advocate Annette Oltmans, and we're talking about covert emotional abuse, one of the most insidious and overlooked forms of domestic violence. If you're in it, have been through it, or suspect something's not right in your relationship, this is one you don't want to miss (or re-listen to). Annette shares her personal experience of prolonged emotional abuse in marriage, along with what she's learned through years of recovery and deep field research. Her work around Original Abuse and Double Abuse® led her to found The M3ND Project in 2016, an organization dedicated to helping survivors name what's happening and start to heal. What you'll hear about in this episode: What motivated Annette to found the M3ND Project Some of the definitions of covert emotional abuse like blame-shifting or minimization of the victim's perspective Annette shares the four pillars of abuse and what drives abusive thinking Realizing you are a victim and changing the worldview of your relationship with your abuser brings on a new layer of stress Abuse recovery and insights and advice for those thinking about repairing their relationship after their partner has begun therapy Learn more about Annette Oltmans: Annette Oltmans is a philanthropist and passionate human rights advocate. Annette's personal experiences of prolonged emotional abuse in marriage and her extensive journey of recovery including comprehensive field research into the topics of Original Abuse and Double Abuse® ignited her passion to founding The M3ND Project in 2016. While seeking the help of professionals and responders, she experienced Double Abuse® in the form of spiritual and institutional abuse. These harmful encounters compelled Annette in her relentless pursuit for solutions that involved interviews with hundreds of victims and survivors. She uncovered common threads that cause victims prolonged states of confusion as well as what ultimately led them towards healing. Her journey also involved interviews with hundreds of faith-based leaders and therapists which led her to discover that most are untrained and ill-equipped to identify and help victims of emotional, verbal, and psychological abuse. In working to prevent and remediate such harm, Annette developed protocoled models that are now being taught and implemented with therapists, churches and professional organizations across the United States. She consulted with esteemed experts in abuse, trauma, and healing to ensure the materials align with the highest professional standards. Annette also serves on the Board of Pepperdine University's Boone Center for the Family and is a Board of Trustee member of Northrise University in Zambia. Her writing on these topics of abuse, domestic violence, and bullying has been published in the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), Teen Vogue, and numerous other publications. Annette is also a contributing author in the newly released book, “Created to Thrive: Cultivating Abuse-Free Safe Communities”. Despite helping hundreds of consultants build profitable businesses, I found myself spending more time on tactics than strategy, chasing clients instead of having them come to me. In this episode, I share why I still work with a coach after 28 years in business, the 9 transformative principles I'm implementing, and how you can apply these immediately to simplify and scale your consultancy. Sometimes we need that outside perspective to see what we can't see ourselves.Resources and LinksWatch the FREE Training: The 3P System for Profitable ConsultingHow to build your AI coachPrevious episode: 628 - From SI to CX Advisor Building a Profitable Salesforce Practice Without Competing on Price with Cyril LouisCheck out more episodes of The Paul Higgins PodcastSubscribe to our YouTube channel: @PaulHigginsMentoringJoin our newsletterSuggested resources

I came across a post this morning from a good friend and former co-worker, Connie - that got me reflecting in some deep and attention getting ways for myself. First of all, at the time of this recording & sharing this story - I got a bit emotional thinking about people, especially how I miss my former co-workers at this time of year (school starting soon). This is a bit longer of a podcast episode, as I am sharing this story about “Dorothy” and quietly sitting and the difference that this can make with others in a world that I'm finding trouble digesting what's happening. Amazing and powerful (at least to me) that got not only my emotions moving, but also things that I need to start & stop doing in my life. It gets me thinking for sure on how I can simply be better at some things & I hope it gets you thinking (and doing) some things too. Thanks for listening. https://teachhoops.com/ Here is a generic take on an interview with a "Hall of Fame Coach AC." When asked what single principle defined his Hall of Fame career, the legendary Coach AC pauses, his gaze steady. "It was never about the X's and O's on the chalkboard; those change with the times. The foundation was always about accountability. I demanded that every player be accountable to the person next to them, both on and off the field. It's about building a culture where the team's standards are more important than any individual's comfort. We didn't build teams; we forged chains, where every link was responsible for the strength of the whole. Talent can win you games, but it's that shared accountability and trust that wins you championships."

Send us a textIf you've been trying to willpower your way into success and wondering why nothing feels aligned, this episode of The Cosmic Valkyrie Podcast is going to blow your mind. Because the truth is: success isn't about willpower—it's about alignment, frequency, and clarity. In this transmission, we dive into the missing piece behind why your strategies, to-do lists, and even your rituals aren't creating the results you crave. The secret? Your vision IS your energetic blueprint. Without a crystal-clear vision, your subconscious defaults to old patterns, your actions lack coherence, and your manifestations stall. Here's what you'll learn in this episode: ✨ Why clarity isn't a luxury—it's your GPS for manifestation. ✨ How to back-map your vision into aligned actions that create flow (not burnout). ✨ Why your current identity—not your to-do list—shapes your results. ✨ How the quantum field (yes, we're talking Quantum Physics) responds to coherence, not confusion. ✨ The paradox of surrender: How to hold your vision without gripping the outcome.Plus, I share two powerful client success stories that prove this works—whether your goal is weight loss, launching a book, or building a dream life. Here's the deal: willpower doesn't work because it's rooted in force, and force fractures your frequency. Alignment creates momentum, and momentum sustains results. Your subconscious doesn't speak hustle—it speaks identity. When your identity, thoughts, and emotions are aligned with your vision, the universe has no choice but to respond. This is not wishful thinking; this is physics.Inside this episode, you'll also discover: ✔ Why your brain's Reticular Activating System is the key to filtering opportunities. ✔ How to create a frequency blueprint that anchors you in the reality you desire. ✔ Practical rituals to program your subconscious using Induction Hypnosis techniques for faster embodiment. This is more than a mindset pep talk—this is a Shapeshifter transmission for those ready to evolve beyond hustle and start creating from true energetic alignment.

I came across another great post…. I love the fact that I'm seeking things to help me throughout the day and Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_) always has things to get me doing some deep reflections. This is speaking directly to you as well. “You are the greatest project you'll ever work on. Restart. Reset. Refocus. As many times as you need.” As I was sharing some thoughts from this, I also connected with Reframe too. I do need to realize that I need to focus on getting better, every single day. My thoughts and actions need to be pointed towards that instead of worry, anger, frustration, doubt, the pain I'm in, etc. This is (to me) an enlightening and encouraging thought to connect with many times throughout a day. I hope it helps you too. Thanks for listening. Tune in here to this Wednesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about Donald Trump’s fiery critique of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and a wild budget overrun on the Fed’s renovation project. Trump, according to Brett, roasted Powell for allegedly trying to install a basement in the building near the Potomac River—a move Trump mocked as impractical and absurd due to flood risk. Brett highlights Trump's background as a builder, contrasting him with figures like Gavin Newsom, and praises his no-nonsense approach. We’re joined by Bruce LeVell from Atlanta to talk about the progress of the Trump administration’s first 200 days and the wide-ranging impact of the "big beautiful bill." A former Trump advisor and small business owner, LeVell emphasized the administration’s push to restore safety and security across American cities—starting with Washington, D.C.—as a foundation for economic development. He praised the return of tax cuts, lower FICA rates, and pro-growth policies that are benefiting small businesses and boosting prosperity in cities like Charlotte and Atlanta. We’re also joined by Jeremy Holmesley from Liberty Mountain Drama to discuss the upcoming season of the powerful Revolutionary War production and its growing impact on education and community engagement. As Director of the production, Holmesley highlights the immersive, action-packed experience that brings the Battle of Kings Mountain to life, all while aligning with school curriculum standards. Now in its 10th year, Liberty Mountain has expanded its educational outreach by offering shortened weekday performances for student field trips—complete with live musket demonstrations and actor Q&As. Holmesley emphasizes the value of connecting students emotionally to history, transforming names and dates into real, relatable people. With over 35 cast members and a theater experience that places the audience right in the action, Liberty Mountain is a must-see. Opening night is September 19, and don’t miss WBT Night on October 7—the anniversary of the historic battle. For tickets and info, visit LibertyMountainDrama.com. And finally, we’re joined by Coach Matt Doherty to discuss leadership, truth, and the upcoming college football season. Known for his championship pedigree and candid takes, Coach Doherty shared thoughts on the moral compass of the country, data manipulation in crime statistics, and the importance of trusting—but verifying—information. As the conversation shifted to football, he offered insight into what makes a winning team: discipline, fundamentals, and unity. Drawing from his coaching background and mentors like Bill Belichick and Dean Smith, Doherty emphasized that when the right culture is built, "the score will take care of itself." Looking ahead to the Tar Heels season, he’s hopeful but realistic, noting that execution and attitude matter more than preseason hype. Off the field, Coach is expanding his executive coaching practice and launching a new dental coaching program, helping professionals lead with clarity and purpose.
