Emily Flippen & Jenna Lewis-Dougherty Survivor 50 Preseason Interviews Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) is here to chat to the cast of Survivor 50! Join us to hear from your favorite returning Survivor players! Survivor 50 preseason interviews are here, as Mike Bloom sits down with Emily Flippen and Jenna Lewis Dougherty to uncover what's driving some of the season's most intriguing castaways. In this deep-dive episode, Survivor 45 standout Emily returns to Fiji after publicly swearing off a comeback, while OG icon Jenna Lewis makes her fierce return to the game after more than two decades away. Hear firsthand how these two women—each with unique Survivor journeys—plan to navigate the complex social web and shifting strategies of the milestone 50th season. The episode starts with Emily Flippen explaining how she surprised even herself by returning for Survivor 50, when she'd once insisted she was done with the game. Emily opens up about her mindset shift, wanting to control her narrative after feeling her “softer” story arc in season 45 left an incomplete lesson. She discusses the pressure of fan expectations, overcoming personal insecurities, and why she's aiming for a “Goldilocks zone” between directness and tact. Jenna Lewis Dougherty, meanwhile, reveals how the game has—and hasn't—changed since Borneo and All-Stars, describing her plan to weaponize being underestimated and use “conjecture flattery” as a tool. Mike explores their thoughts on the new era, their targeted alliances, and what it takes for an old-school or new-school player to thrive among legends and wildcards. Emily reflects on her evolution, admitting she didn't love the lesson viewers took from her arc on Survivor 45, and wants to prove you don't have to change your core to succeed. Jenna outlines her “mommy complex” strategy, aiming to bond with younger players and then outmaneuver them at critical moments. Both women assess their competition, highlighting who they see as friends or threats—with hilarious, candid takes on castmates like Coach, Aubry, Ozzy, and D. Emily weighs the impact of social media buzz and fan perception, while Jenna describes using her “real life” negotiation skills in the cutthroat Survivor world. Strategies for handling returning players, “winner killers,” alliance flips, and being underestimated are front and center. As the cast prepares to hit the beach, questions loom: Can Emily strike the right balance between bluntness and gameplay finesse? Will Jenna's old-school instincts keep her safe among the sharks—or lead to her early downfall? Who will take control in a game where every move is scrutinized? 500: How Rhythm and Isometrics Transform the Warm-Up with Paul Cater

    Just Fly Performance Podcast

Today's guest is Paul Cater. Paul is a veteran strength and conditioning coach with over 25 years of experience spanning professional baseball, collegiate athletics, and high-performance team environments. Paul is known for blending traditional strength training with rhythm, timing, gravity, and a deeply relational, art-driven approach to coaching. His work challenges purely formulaic or data-driven models and puts the live training session back at the center of athlete development. In an era where training is increasingly automated, optimized, and reduced to dashboards and numbers, it's easy to lose the human element that actually drives performance. This conversation explores how rhythm, feel, load, and coaching presence shape not just outputs, but adaptability, resilience, and long-term athletic growth. If you've ever felt that “something is missing” in modern training environments, this episode speaks directly to that gap. In this episode, Paul and I explore training as a live performance rather than a static program. We discuss using early isometric and axial loading as a readiness anchor, how downbeat rhythm and eccentric timing drive better outputs, and why chasing numbers too aggressively can undermine real performance. We dive into music, movement, art, and coaching intuition, and how creating alive, rhythmic sessions builds stronger athletes, and better coaches, without relying solely on rigid protocols or excessive monitoring. Use uneven terrain and elevation to naturally regulate intensity instead of forcing outputs. Let the environment create variability rather than programming it artificially. Periodically remove mirrors, clocks, and screens to reconnect athletes with internal feedback. 6:00 – The role of community in training Training outcomes improve when athletes feel socially anchored. Design sessions where athletes work together rather than in isolation. Use shared challenges to build collective buy-in and accountability. View community as a performance multiplier, not a soft add-on. 12:15 – Performance and the observer effect Athletes change behavior when they know they are being measured. Use testing sparingly to avoid distorting natural movement. Train without constant feedback to preserve authentic effort. Recognize when measurement helps clarity and when it creates tension. 23:27 – Shifting training protocols Protocols should evolve with the athlete, not remain fixed. Regularly reassess whether a method still serves the athlete's needs. Avoid loyalty to systems that no longer produce adaptation. Let context, stress, and readiness guide training decisions. 32:32 – Balancing data and intuition Numbers inform decisions, but intuition completes them. Use data as a reference point, not the final authority. Trust experienced pattern recognition when data feels incomplete. Teach younger coaches how to observe, not just measure. 42:14 – Efficacy of isometric training Isometrics offer clarity, control, and nervous system regulation. Use isometrics to teach position awareness and intent. Apply them during deloads or recovery periods. Emphasize quality of tension rather than maximal force. 47:23 – Five-minute wonders Short, focused training can still drive adaptation. Use brief sessions to maintain rhythm during busy schedules. Prioritize intent and execution over duration. Stack small doses consistently rather than chasing long sessions. 53:28 – The art of adaptation Adaptation is individual, nonlinear, and context dependent. Avoid expecting identical outcomes from identical programs. Adjust based on response, not expectation. Respect that progress can look quiet before it looks obvious. 57:44 – Embracing the subconscious Much of performance operates below conscious control. Reduce over-cueing to allow automatic movement to emerge. Trust repetition and environment to shape behavior. Coach less, observe more. 1:28:06 – A playlist for performance Music influences emotional and physical rhythm. Use music intentionally to shape session tone. Match tempo to desired movement qualities. Allow athletes some ownership over the training atmosphere. Quotes from Paul Cater “Training is as much about remembering what we are as it is about building what we want to become.” “The moment measurement changes behavior, you have to question what you are actually training.” “Community is not separate from performance. It is performance.” “Coaching is an art because people are not repeatable systems.” “Isometrics give you honesty. There's nowhere to hide.” “Data can guide you, but it cannot feel the athlete.” “Adaptation does not care about your program, only your response.” “Sometimes the best thing you can do as a coach is stop talking.” About Paul Cater Paul Cater is a veteran strength and conditioning coach with over 25 years of experience working across professional baseball, collegiate athletics, tactical populations, and high-performance team sport environments. He has served in leadership and performance roles with organizations including Major League Baseball, NCAA programs, and private high-performance facilities, and is known for his ability to blend high-intensity strength training with rhythm, coordination, and ecological skill development. Paul's coaching philosophy emphasizes gravity, timing, and rhythm as foundational drivers of athletic performance. Rather than relying solely on rigid programming or isolated testing, his sessions are built around early exposure to meaningful load, isometric and inertial work, and rhythmic constraints that reveal readiness, alignment, and intent in real time. His work integrates elements of sprint mechanics, change of direction, elastic strength, and movement artistry to create training environments that are both physically effective and psychologically engaging. Currently working in a collegiate performance setting, Paul is deeply interested in coaching as a live, relational craft; treating each session as a performance that develops not just outputs, but awareness, adaptability, and ownership in athletes. His approach bridges traditional strength training with concepts from sport, art, music, and survival movement, offering a perspective that challenges purely automated or data-driven models of performance.

Many women are grieving two things at once right now, a relationship that didn't protect them and a country that won't either.  There is a lot happening in the world right now, and none of it is abstract. Not for women. Not for our marriages, our divorces, our bodies, our safety, or our credibility. What we are witnessing is the lived, relational impact of rising authoritarianism. In this solo episode, I wanted to take a moment to slow this conversation down and connect the dots between what women experience privately and what is unfolding publicly.  This is not about ideology or opinion. It is about power. It is about who is believed, who is doubted, and who is controlled. And it is about why so many women are feeling alarmed, not because they are confused, but because they recognize the familiar dynamics of control. They recognize the patterns. For a long time, we were taught that politics lived "out there" in elections, legislation, and institutions we were never meant to shape, while relationships were framed as personal, private choices. That separation was not accidental. It was strategic.  Authoritarian systems depend on that divide, because when women's lives are framed as personal, our suffering can be dismissed as individual failure and our silence mistaken for consent. This episode is a call to stay awake without collapsing, to stay aligned with what you already know, and to remember that awareness does not require constant activation. We do this together. We tap out and tap in for one another. The personal has always been the political.  What you'll hear about in this episode: Why separating "the personal" from "the political" was an intentional strategy designed to keep women's suffering isolated and depoliticized How women's exhaustion, self doubt, and depletion inside marriage are not personal failures, but political conditions Why you cannot meditate, communicate, or self optimize your way out of systems built on unequal power How naming harm becomes threatening to systems that rely on fragmentation and silence How authoritarianism mirrors abusive relationship dynamics through control, denial, punishment, and gaslighting Why women, especially Black women, recognize creeping control early and sound alarms before institutions do Why backlash against women's clarity is evidence of lost control, not women being wrong Why rest, regulation, and nervous system care are essential parts of resistance, not distractions from it ✨ If you'd like to watch the video version of this episode, you can find it here. On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it feels like to be alive in a world that seems like it's on fire - the grief, fear, anger, overwhelm and helplessness so many people are carrying.I connect the dots between abusive power and how those in power benefit from keeping us exhausted, distracted, and in despair.I also remind us that “they've always killed the helpers” - from Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. to the modern-day helpers in the streets - and why that makes our presence and courage even more necessary, not less.We talk about nervous system regulation, breathing practices, EFT / Tapping, “rest as resistance”, spiritual practices, and Stoic principles like focusing on what is and isn't in our control.I share practical tools for resourcing ourselves so we can be effective helpers instead of burned-out bystanders and I walk through simple ways to calm your body and mind - so you're not operating from fear, but from a more grounded, loving, and powerful place.I wrap things up by inviting you to honestly explore your role and capacity: Are you an ally, an advocate, or an activist? Are you a citizen, reformer, rebel, or change agent?Mostly, I encourage you to ask yourself about your unique talents, experience, and gifts and how they might be used for good right now - “What can I actually do with who I am,, what I know, and what I have?”Whether that's speaking up, donating, organizing, making phone calls, creating art, caring for your neighbors, or quietly holding space. At the heart of it all is a spiritual call: “Please use me. May I be in service to love.” ❤️KAREN KENNEY BIO:Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Writer, Podcaster and Coach. [THE DISTINCTIVE EDGE CLIENT CASE STUDY] In this episode, Meg sits down with Leah Bryant, Podcast Growth Strategist and Coach, to talk about how clarifying her messaging—and fully owning her distinctive edge—helped her book multiple podcast audits and full podcast launches in a matter of weeks. Leah shares the honest reality of being five years into business, having already experienced success, and still realizing something was missing. After transitioning from an agency model to a solo business, Leah knew she was good at what she did—but wasn't clearly articulating why she was different in a saturated market. Inside this conversation, Leah breaks down how leaning into her background as a former fraud investigator (yes, really) changed everything—from her confidence to her conversions. If you've ever thought, "I know I'm good at what I do, but my message isn't landing," this episode is for you. In this episode, we cover: Why Leah almost didn't invest—and what helped her make a grounded, confident yes How podcast SEO can turn a show into an actual revenue-generating asset The mistake most podcasters make when trying to grow (and why tips alone don't convert anymore) How Leah transitioned from an agency voice to owning her voice as the brand Why owning your background and pattern-recognition skills builds instant trust What shifted when Leah stopped "sounding like everyone else" and showed more personality How clarity in messaging led to booked audits, paid launches, and inbound clients Why confidence—not just strategy—is the real multiplier in sales Quotes you'll hear echoed: "I knew I was good at what I did—I just wasn't owning it." "I was burned before, and I didn't want another program collecting dust." "Once I started being myself, everything shifted." "That injury was one of the most psychologically harrowing experiences of my career, just figuring out how to navigate that space, how to eventually see it as a superpower … if I hadn't gotten that injury, I wouldn't have been able to rebuild my body in a way that allowed me to come back a completely different athlete. I think because of all the work I had to do in the gym to address things I had never addressed my entire career, coming off of that gave me longevity."   Elite runner Laura Thweatt had a lengthy career at the top level of the sport—while running for Saucony for more than a decade, the 2:25 marathoner finished fifth in the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials, earned three US cross country titles, and made five US teams.   But she also had many injuries, including osteitis pubis, a painful inflammation in the joint between the pubic bones. Recovery was long and difficult, but ultimately remade her as an athlete. That journey—along with other setbacks she's faced—taught her about standing up for herself, adjusting training to her needs, and practicing patience in the process.   Now, she's retired and embarking on the next phase of her career, coaching other pro runners (including New York City Marathon champion Hellen Obiri) with the On Athletics Club in Boulder. Her experiences give her credibility and competence with her athletes, helping her create a space for them to navigate injury and thrive. Looking back, she's grateful for all she went through, knowing that it brought her to a place where she can still play an important role in the sport and its future.   Resources/links: Laura's Instagram Why Do I Keep Getting Injured? “Send Coach John a message”I found another lesson from a former student of mine. Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) shared this gem with his introduction: “Why accept Acceptable when you're capable of Exceptional? Acceptable is ‘good enough' for some but never meets the minimum standard for Great. Take small steps daily that combat our natural instinct to be satisfied & tolerate ‘acceptable.”  I reposted this from him with my thoughts: “Great stuff @CoachRayO3313 … awesome reminder for life and for anyone open to paying attention.”  Today's episode came in my mobile studio because I wanted to get out to you as soon as I could.  Early this morning I had a dream and it got my day started in a direction of wanting to learn more, do more, and to keep getting things done.  It's all about “Acceptable vs. Exceptional” - “Why tolerate acceptable when you're capable of exceptional? This is something many wrestle with daily.  Greatness demands higher standards.  Acceptable is good enough for many - but not for the great.  Strive to develop the diligence, competitiveness, details, standards, routines, & expectations to become exceptional.  Good enough is the enemy of great.”  I hope this helps you see some things that you want to work on. Remember, there is not one way of being Exceptional. So many ways to fit it into the areas of life that we want it to be!!  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.  ** I would appreciate anyone to try clicking on the top of the show notes where it says "Send us a text" to leave a few thoughts / comments / questions.  It's a new feature that I'd like to see how it works. **

In this in-depth preseason preview, Rob and Mike go tribe by tribe through Survivor 50's three big groups, discuss returning legends and new era standouts, and tease how former alliances, rivalries, and hidden dynamics might spark fireworks on day one. The conversation starts with the hosts sharing their first reactions to seeing the finalized tribes of eight, revealing how the old school vs new school split has evolved into a more nuanced blend. Throughout the episode, Rob and Mike preview the cast—Sole Survivor winners like Savannah and Kyle, returning icon Cirie Fields, the unpredictable Q, and fan-favorite strategists like Christian, Jenna Lewis, and Genevieve. The hosts explore the possible impact of pre-existing relationships, speculate about alliance possibilities, and highlight players' motivations as they return to the game—some after decades away, others barely weeks off their last adventure. – Christian's approach to “narrative warfare” and playing as a new parent – Cirie’s hunger for a win despite playing almost every reality format – The strategic puzzle of mixing old school, new school, and new era players within each tribe – Pre-game relationships: Who's got history, who might find themselves on the outs, and which duos or trios are split across tribes – Funny and revealing moments, like Rob's Survivor 50 “FOMO,” Kamilla's notorious bluffing, and Q's larger-than-life return As Rob and Mike walk through each tribe's roster—from classic Survivor legends like Colby, Ozzy, and Coach to new challenges posed by 49er wildcards Rizo and Savannah—they ponder: Will pre-merge chaos help or hurt the game's icons? When Instincts Turn Dark: Staying Human in Hard Times

As we wrap up the conversation on instincts, Christa brings you a powerful episode exploring how our three instincts—self-preservation, sexual, and social—can turn dark or animal-like when we're scared, threatened, or in pain in our marriages or world, and we talk about how to slow down, stay kind stay human, godly, and loving in hard or dystopic times. Though the episode is grounded and practical, Christa addresses cognitive heuristics and mental shortcuts humans can use to dehumanize the "other" including the Halo Effect as well as examines how each instinct goes dark, self-preservation leading to hoarding, sexual instinct leading to using people, and social instinct leading to outgrouping and tribalism—and offers practical ways to stay strong in faith. Drawing on CS Lewis's wisdom that evil must be unwound bit by bit, she calls listeners to not rush the stories of pain away or abandon friends who voted differently as you fight for justice - we're one human body, and we must rise together. What happens when your faith feels thin, your prayers feel exhausted, and God moves anyway? In this episode of Finding Faith Above, Shelby sits down with Cecelia Curtis, host of The Heart of Friendship podcast—a top 2% show centered on female friendship and meaningful connection. Cecelia is a Christian friendship coach, a wife of 22 years, a boy mom of three, and a retired military spouse who has spent much of her adult life building and rebuilding community. Cecelia shares her deeply personal story of nine years of infertility, the moment a group of women prayed over her without knowing the silent cry of her heart, and the miracle that followed just two weeks later. She also reveals the stunning truth that a friend and her husband had been fasting and praying for her in secret for two years. Together, Shelby and Cecelia explore: How God often works through female friendship and spiritual sisterhood Why borrowed faith matters when your own feels worn down The difference between polite prayer and true intercession Why loneliness and transition are not signs of failure How God meets us quietly, right where we are This conversation is for the woman who feels alone, uncertain, or unsure how to move forward in faith. It's a reminder that God is present, prayer is powerful, and you may be more supported than you realize.

“Send Coach John a message”Found another simple, yet emotional and meaningful reminder for me from the Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity)  where this truth was posted:  “Every day is another chance to change your life.” Within every day there are many moments too. I've been doing more and more reflecting in the mornings with my coffee. First, I'm reminding myself each morning how much I love mornings. Getting my day started with some prayer time, reading some devotions, other daily readings to not only get me started but also to keep me grounded too. Secondly, it gets my day going in a great direction for the things I want to do and need to do. With me trying to focus a bit more on intentionally focusing on making the most of more moments, it's been eye-opening for me to keep working this way. Also remind ourselves that these “changes” don't have to be huge. They don't have to be posted about on social media. We don't have to share them with others. We just have to put action behind them. Please - remember this thought and remember it's the moments to connect with that matter which make up our days. **
