Graduated from the Ecole Nationale d'Administration, she began her career in 2007 at the General Inspectorate of Finance, where she carried out several strategic and financial audit assignments in France and abroad, most notably for the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.  In 2011, she joined the SNCF where she was appointed Director of Paris Montparnasse station and Deputy Director of TGV product coordination for the Paris Rive Gauche area. About the Debate: In Nov 1945, the U.S. joined UNESCO, a new post-WWII organization designed to promote world peace and security. In Dec 1984, President Reagan took the U.S. out of UNESCO citing corruption and mismanagement. In Oct 2003, President George Bush rejoined UNESCO to advance human rights, tolerance, and learning. In Dec 2018, President Trump took the U.S.out of UNESCO citing anti-Israel bias, and the U.S.'s mounting arrears to UNESCO resulting from Palestine's election as a full member. In July 2023, President Biden rejoined UNESCO for the third time to combat increasing Chinese influence at the organization. Given the problematic relationship between the U.S. and UNESCO, and the organization's history of controversial initiatives, was this a wise decision? What are the pros and cons for the U.S. of being a member of UNESCO once again? About the Presenters: Gerald C. Anderson served as Director of Administration and Finance at the Pan American Health Organization in Washington, DC, from March 2014 to July 2021. Prior to joining PAHO, Mr. Anderson served from 2011-2014 as Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Organization of American States in Washington DC. Mr. Anderson served the United States Foreign Service from 1980 - 2010, completing his serviced as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Organizations. Engelken went on from there to serve as Deputy Chief of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan (2010-2011). Prior to those senior assignments, he served postings abroad in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Italy; France, and Australia and at the State Department in Washington as Director of Pakistan/Bangladesh Affairs, Director of the Office of Proliferation Threat Reduction, Deputy Director of the office of Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Operations, and Deputy Director of Arabian Peninsula Affairs. Since his retirement in 2012 while Principal Officer in Peshawar, Pakistan, Mr. Engelken has taught at Foreign Service Institute, the State Department's training center. Mr. Engelken is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a resident of Washington, D.C. He holds a B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University. Episode No. 644 features artists Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi and Trey Burns. The Hammer Museum is presenting "Hammer Projects: Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi" through August 11. The exhibition features ARENA V (2024), Nkosi's latest investigation of the social and psychological experiences of Black gymnasts. "Nkosi" is curated by Ikechúkwú Onyewuenyi with Connie Butler. Nkosi is a South Africa-based artist whose work often uses the world of sport, and especially athletes, to consider imperial histories and their impacts on the present, fellowship, competition, and performance. She has been featured in group exhibitions at the 15th Sharjah Biennial, United Arab Emirates, at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, Cape Town, the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto, and more. In collaboration with East Side Projects, Nkosi presented the multimedia work Equations for a Body at Rest across many spaces in Birmingham, UK as part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Nkosi's short film The Same Track, referenced on the program, may be viewed here. The Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas is showing "Nasher Public: Trey Burns" through April 21. The exhibition features Burns' Prairie Piece which examines north Texas' ecology through seemingly incongruent subjects such as Robert Smithson's unrealized proposals for the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, and the George W. Bush administration and Bush's presidential library at Southern Methodist University. Burns has exhibited at the Pavilion Vendôme and the Ecole Nationale d'Architecture in Paris, at Wassaic Projects, and more. He is also the co-director of Dallas' Sweet Pass Sculpture Park, a non-profit that provides space and support for outdoor sculpture.

She's a former professional circus artist, a graduate of the world-renowned, Ecole Nationale de Cirque, and founder of Creating your Sun shinene" which helps seniors improve their balance maintain their independence and live each day with better health and greater joy. She also goes to schools, organizations, sports teams and corporate settings to share her story with an added twist in how she engages with her audience. I met Tatiana a few years ago before the pandemic and when we met and she told me her story and some of the things that she's been through it wasn't just inspiring to hear but I had a lot of questions because I was trying to understand where she was getting this mental strength and internal joy from. PDF (*Unity ID required) Speaker Bio Dr. Dominique Brossard is professor and chair in the Department of Life Sciences Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an affiliate of the UW-Madison Robert & Jean Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies, the UW-Madison Energy Institute, the UW-Madison Global Health Institute, the UW-Madison Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, and the Morgridge Institute for Research. Her teaching responsibilities include courses in strategic communication theory and research, with a focus on science and risk communication. Brossard's research agenda focuses on the intersection between science, media and policy with the Science, Media and the Public (SCIMEP) research group, which she co-directs. A fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the International Communication Association, Brossard is an internationally known expert in public opinion dynamics related to controversial scientific issues. She is particularly interested in understanding the role of values in shaping public attitudes and using cross-cultural analysis to understand these processes. She has published more than 100 research articles in outlets such as Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Science Communication, Public Understanding of Science, the International Journal of Public Opinion, and _Communication Research _and has been an expert panelist for the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) on various occasions. She currently serves on the NASEM Climate Communication Initiative Advisory Committee as well as on the Executive Committee of the Societal Experts Action Network (SEAN), which aims at facilitating rapid and actionable responses to social, behavioral, and economic-related COVID-19 questions. Brossard is a member of the Board on Life Sciences of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. She is also on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences and she is the Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences at the National Science Foundation. Brossard has a varied professional background that includes experience in the lab and the corporate world. Notably, she spent five years at Accenture in its Change Management Services Division. She was also the communication coordinator for the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project II (ABSPII), a position that combined public relations with marketing communication and strategic communication. Her family worked dairy farms for many generations. Brossard earned her M.S. in plant biotechnology from the Ecole Nationale d'Agronomie de Toulouse and her M.P.S and Ph.D. in communication from Cornell University.       "Là où se rejoignent les rivières",  création sonore d'Antoine Richard est un essai radiophonique, à mi chemin entre documentaire et fiction, qui prend sa source à Montbéliard, ville dans laquelle grand nombre de rivières ont été détournées, enfouies, canalisées... Episode #49 - Découvrez le quotidien d'un surveillant pénitentiaire Parfois, on a l'impression de bien connaître un métier. Même personne de notre entourage ne l'exerce et qu'il est loin de notre quotidien, il suffit d'un film, d'une série ou encore d'un reportage pour se faire une idée. Les images que l'on regarde nous paraissent être la réalité. On oublie de prendre en compte le contexte et de poser un regard critique.  Et mine de rien, il existe beaucoup de métiers dont l'image médiatique continue de les suivre, sans que la vérité ne soit toujours bien décelée. On peut penser aux avocats, aux policiers, ou encore aux infirmiers. Mais aussi à ceux dont le nom est souvent écorché : les surveillants pénitentiaires. Dans cet épisode, vous allez entendre Aurélien, surveillant pénitentiaire au centre pénitentiaire de Fresnes. Son métier ne laisse jamais indifférent. Il faut l'avouer, c'est un métier qui fascine. En partie parce que les surveillants pénitentiaires exercent dans des lieux que la grande majorité d'entre nous n'ont jamais côtoyés donc vraiment loin de notre réalité. Mais aussi parce qu'à contrario, ils sont beaucoup représentés dans les séries ou les films. La tentation de dire qu'on voit ce qu'ils font est facile. Et dans le même temps, on se doute bien qu'on ne peut pas tout savoir. Les surveillants pénitentiaires sont au coeur d'un écosystème d'autres métiers très complémentaires : des personnels de soin médical, les forces de l'ordre, des avocats, des personnels techniques mais aussi des conseillers pénitentiaires d'insertion et de probation qui travaillent surtout sur les missions de réinsertion et de la lutte contre la récidive. Les surveillants pénitentiaires sont rattachés au Ministère de la Justice. Ils sont 30 500 en France, répartis sur quasi 200 établissements pénitentiaires et une centaine de services pénitentiaires d'insertion et de probation. Aurélien est l'un d'eux et il a pris le temps de nous expliquer à quoi ressemblait son quotidien au centre pénitentiaire de Fresnes. He received his PhD in Management from MIT Sloan School of Management, Cambridge, US, and his MA in Management Science from Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan; his Diplôme d'Ingénieur (MSc) in Civil Engineering and DEA in Mechanical Engineering from respectively the Ecole Nationale des TPE, Lyon and the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, two Grandes Ecoles in France. His research and teaching activities focus on: (1) how to create innovating capabilities and competencies as a way to build an innovating organization and culture; (2) Blue Ocean Strategy and value innovation implementation, and roll out processes across the whole organization; (3) how to build social capital within firms; (4) new forms of organizations, in particular networked corporations, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and value-adding partnerships; and (5) the impact of information technology on innovation. Professor Bensaou addresses these issues from an international comparative perspective, with a special focus on Japanese organizations. Professor Bensaou's research on buyer-supplier relations in the US and Japanese auto industries won him the Best Doctoral Dissertation Award in the field of information systems and a finalist nomination for the Free Press Award for outstanding dissertation research in the field of business policy and strategy. His case studies on innovation won the 2006, 2008 and 2009 ECCH Best Case Awards (with Kim & Mauborgne). His publications include papers in Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Information Systems Research, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, book chapters and conference proceedings. Becker, the "Xiaokai Yang Chair of Business and Economics” at Monash University, Melbourne, and part-time Professor at the University of Warwick, England. Previously, he held positions at Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich and at the University of Stirling, Scotland. He studied Economics at the Universities of Bonn, Germany, and at the Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique (ENSAE) in Paris, France. He obtained his Ph.D. at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence in 2001. In Spring 2000, he was a visiting scholar at the Center for Labor Economics at the University of California in Berkeley (UCB). A historic vote in parliament as French MPs unanimously approve a bill criminalising conversion therapy for LGBT+ people; no quick fix for Paris's growing crack cocaine problem; and the changing face of elite school ENA, founded 76 years ago this week. France made history this week when MPs from every political party voted to ban conversion therapy for gay and transgendered people, a practice which the UN has compared to torture. Many victims in France suffer the scars of psychological trauma. Benoit Berthé (@TheSiward) co-founder of the collective Rien à guerir (Nothing to heal), talks about the satisfaction in helping getting attitudes to change in France and his own experience of being forced into psycho-spiritual sessions by his devout Catholic parents, who were persuaded he would happier as a heterosexual. (Listen @0'00) Paris is facing a new crack crisis, with groups of homeless addicts making life hell for residents and businesses in the city's northeast and its surrounding suburbs. As the city and the national government throw responsibility for the problem back and forth, France's approach to drugs and addiction is showing its limitations. Are addicts victims in need of medical treatment, or criminals in need of punishment? France's 1970 drug law says both, which makes it difficult to put in place risk reduction programmes, like drug consumption rooms – that have been used elsewhere for decades. (Listen @18'35) France's Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA), founded by Charles de Gaulle at the end of World War II, was an emblem of meritocracy at the outset. But the graduate school, famous for training presidents and senior civil servants in the art of governance, gradually became a symbol of elitism. Elle collabore sur plusieurs projets d'animation, tout en développant ses propres films, sensibles et délicats, dont "La femme squelette", "Dans les eaux profondes" et récemment "Raymonde ou l'évasion verticale". Elle a co-fondé la société de production Papy3D avec plusieurs réalisateurs dont Jérémy Clapin, Gilles Cuvellier, Franck Dion, ainsi que le compositeur Pierre Caillet et le producteur Richard Van Den Boom. Noé a été formé dans plusieurs écoles du mouvement : le CNSMD de Paris, l’Ecole Nationale de Ballet du Canada et PARTS à Bruxelles. Avec sa mission de directeur du CNDC d’Angers, il repense en profondeur la pédagogie de la transmission pour mieux coller au monde de la danse d’aujourd’hui. Ce danseur qui théorise le mouvement pour comprendre son essence nous confirme que la danse est un art plus essentiel que jamais. Et que cet art a besoin d’être soutenu pour se réinventer. Melissa studied at Ecole Nationale de Cirque (ENC), where she was the first student to develop a dance trapeze act. After touring internationally with the aerial arts collective Les Arts Sauts, Melissa co-founded CirkVOST, a French aerial contemporary circus company. Her vast career is all encompassing including being an aerial choreographer and coach for major events and intimate shows such as the Sochi Olympic Games, MGM Macau, Luc Petit Creation, the Qing show, Cirque du Soleil. Her style varies just as much from German cabaret to traditional circus. She is now back in Montreal and working on creating an aerial festival. Melissa reached out to us after listening to our first episode in which Lydia Lara mentioned wanting to know who the first person was to put a swivel on the trapeze, person found! It's not only the only workable solution for our planet's future but is also essential if we are going to meet the goals expressed in resolutions like the Paris Agreement, which reflects the energy commitments of many organizations worldwide. The Microsoft team believes it is uniquely positioned to use its technology resources to get on that path, but beyond that, the company's leadership felt they could do even more than their fair share because of the resources they have at their disposal. As a result, the organization has made a “Carbon Negative” pledge, going a step further than Carbon Neutral. Microsoft intends to not only remove it's own carbon contributions entirely but to remove carbon from the atmosphere that it has been responsible for over its 45+ year history. The interim goals Microsoft must hit on the way to Carbon Negative  The sustainability team at Microsoft feels the journey to its carbon-negative future is like a marathon. It's a long haul effort. But they expect to achieve their goals through interim goals that they imagine as quarterly sprints. These sprints are highlighted through the three Scopes of emissions.  Scope 1 - a focus on Microsoft's own house 1 - All data centers should be diesel-free by 2030  2 - Microsoft's global vehicle fleet is to be entirely electrified by 2030  Scope 2 - closing the loop for Microsoft through 100% renewable energy sourcing by 2025, that means for all data centers and campus facilities. Scope 3 - working to address upstream and downstream issues on the Microsoft value chain AND ensure that all creation of hardware and software uses carbon-free sources This stellar example of clean energy commitment is just the kind of thing that's needed by organizations worldwide to not only halt the damage that's being done to the environment but to turn things around. How Microsoft is funding these amazing changes   Internally, Microsoft has put in place governance measures that enable the organization to keep energy concerns front and center while also motivating its myriad teams to take action on them. Each business group within the company pays a fee for the carbon emissions they are responsible for producing and this rate has been progressively increased since its implementation This has become a catalyst for change within the organization. It spurs and finances innovation that makes Microsoft's energy initiatives possible and changes how the organization as a whole thinks about sustainability. And, perhaps best of all, it has made the long-term cost of carbon visible to Microsoft's leadership. But Microsoft has not stopped with internal funding, it has created a $1 billion Climate Innovation Fund. This fund will be deployed from 2021-2025 to help address the technological barriers to putting the world on the path to sustainable energy. The challenges to attaining Microsoft's ambitious goals The team at Microsoft believes it is not enough for Microsoft alone to make these kinds of changes to its sustainability practices. The organization wants to innovate alongside other organizations to move the needle forward, faster. They believe that the solutions they are creating can be deployed at scale in cooperation with partner organizations. Cleaning their own house is where it starts but it extends to empowering and encouraging partners to move forward as well. Pour ce 18ème épisode et toujours à distance, nous recevons Jean-Luc Salinas, fondateur et co-CEO de Maltem Canada, une société de conseil qui a des bureaux dans le monde entier de New-York à Singapour, et dont il a lancé la branche canadienne récemment en janvier 2019.  Jean-Luc fait partie de ce genre d’invités au parcours vraiment atypique, on adore ça. Diplômé de l’ENAC, l’Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile à Toulouse en 2006, Jean-Luc se lance en tant qu’ingénieur aéronautique pour effectuer des tests sur les systèmes de navigation embarqués des avions. C’est grâce à lui notamment que le système qui gère l’horizon artificiel des A320, A380, A350 et des avions militaires est testé sur sa robustesse et sa fiabilité.  C’est dans son expérience suivante, alors en poste à S2I (une autre société de conseil) à Toulouse toujours, qu’il décide de s’expatrier avec sa femme au Canada en 2015: on lui offre l’opportunité unique de cofonder la branche S2I Canada. Il semblerait que ça lui ait tellement plu qu’il décide de récidiver 4 ans plus tard en 2019 pour cofonder cette fois Maltem Canada.  2 à 22 employés avec Maltem et un CA de 1million en un an, de beaux chiffres pour une première année d’exercice! Jean-Luc nous donne tous les détails de la learning curve entre les deux expériences de lancement qui lui a permis de signer des deals plus rapidement. Et il nous livre même une exclusivité sur les développements futurs au Canada pour Maltem! Enfin, Jean-Luc est connu pour son management très humain, et son charisme transparait déjà tout au long de notre échange. C’est d’ailleurs lui qui présidera cette mission, comme il l’avait proposé en septembre dernier. C’est la première fois dans l’histoire de France qu’une centrale nucléaire est mise à l’arrêt. J'ai découvert Rosalie Vaillancourt l’année dernière en trainant sur Youtube. Je suis tombée par hasard sur sa websérie Rosalie et j'ai ri tellement fort que j'ai fini par regarder toutes les vidéos qu'il existe d'elle sur Internet. Pour re-situer un peu, elle est l'une des humoristes québécoises les plus prolifiques du moment. Elle a fait l’Ecole Nationale de l’Humour, a écrit des webséries, fait de la télé, tourne avec son premier spectacle Enfant Roi et développe plein d'autres projets.Vu que j'étais à Montréal cet été, j'en ai profité pour aller voir son show. Patrick Arthus était l'invité de l'Heure H du 27 avril 2016 Diplômé de l'Ecole Polytechnique, de l'Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique et de l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, Patrick ARTUS est aujourd'hui le Chef économiste de Natixis et membre du Comité Exécutif. Il débute sa carrière en 1975 à l'INSEE où il participe entre autres aux travaux de prévision et de modélisation. Il travaille ensuite au Département d'Economie de l'OCDE (1980) puis devient Directeur des Etudes à l'ENSAE et Responsable de Séminaire de Recherche à l'Université Paris Dauphine (1982). Il enseigna dans diverses Universités (Dauphine, ENSAE, Centre des Hautes Etudes de l'Armement, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, HEC Lausanne...), et il est actuellement Professeur d'économie à l'Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Il cumule ses fonctions d'enseignant avec ses travaux de recherche et s'associe à diverses revues ou associations économiques. Il est membre des Conseils d’administration de TOTAL et d'IPSOS en qualité d'Administrateur.

Chloé initially started her circus training as a flying trapeze artist before an accident led her to enroll in the Ecole Nationale de Cirque's work-based learning program (ACS Instructor Training). She graduated under the instruction of famed circus coach, Victor Fomine, with a degree specializing in aerial straps. She now works as a circus coach and choreographer for individual artists and with Cirque du Soliel. C’est un artiste franco-marocain d’une trentaine d’années.Diplômé de l’Ecole Nationale des beaux-arts de Paris et du Fresnoy, et aujourd’hui représenté par la galerie Kamel Mennour, Hicham Berrada utilise des théorèmes physiques et des formules chimiques pour créer des formes naturelles qu’il manipule et façonne dans des cadres qu’il définit. Au travers d’un travail qui réalise un pont entre art et science, il livre des œuvres esthétiques qui documentent le génie de la nature.Dans cet entretien, Hicham Berrada revient sur ses études, et plus particulièrement sur son expérience au Fresnoy. Il parle des résidences d’artistes, en se souvenant de son année passée à la Villa Médicis à Rome (2013-2014) et en parlant de celle qu’il passe en ce moment à la Pinault Collection à Lens (depuis septembre 2018). Sehl Mellouli is a professor at the department of Information Systems at Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada since June 2005. He obtained his Phd in Computer Science from Université Laval in 2005. He has an MBA in Management Information Systems from Université Laval. He is also an engineer in computer science from the Ecole Nationale des Sciences Informatiques, Tunis, Tunisia.

Née à Beyrouth en 1981, Zeina Abirached a fait des études de graphisme au Liban puis à l’Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs à Paris et depuis, partage son temps entre la bande dessinée et l'illustration. Après "[Beyrouth]", "Catharsis" et "38 rue Youssef Semaani", son roman graphique "Mourir partir revenir, le jeu des hirondelles" connait un large succès public et critique. Elle est l’auteure du "Piano oriental" chez Casterman (sélection Ouest-France Quai des Bulles en 2016) un récit inspiré de la vie de son ancêtre, inventeur d’un nouvel instrument de musique dans le Beyrouth des années 60. Elle collabore régulièrement avec la presse et différents éditeurs en tant qu’illustratrice. Un échange animé par Benoît Mouchard, enregistré en public lors du festival Quai des Bulles 2018.

Pascal Lamy is the Director-General of the World Trade Organization since September 2005. Mr. Lamy holds degrees from the Paris based Ecole des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC), from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (IEP) and from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA). He began his career in the French civil service at the Inspection Générale des finances and at the Treasury. He then became an advisor to the Finance Minister Jacques Delors, and subsequently to Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy. 

 In Brussels from 1985 to 1994, Mr. Lamy was Chief of staff for the President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, and his representative as Sherpa in the G7. 

In November 1994, he joined the team in charge of rescuing Credit Lyonnais, and later became CEO of the bank until its privatisation in 1999.

 Between 1999 and 2004, Mr. Lamy was Commissioner for Trade at the European Commission under Romano Prodi. 

 After his tenure in Brussels, Mr. Lamy spent a short sabbatical period as President of “Notre Europe”, a think tank working on European integration; as associate Professor at the l’Institut d’études Politiques in Paris; and as advisor to Poul Nyrup Rasmussen (President of the European Socialist Party).

Das Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, anhand einer vergleichenden Darstellung der Tierärztlichen Ausbildung in Deutschland und Frankreich die wichtigsten Strukturunterschiede, aber auch die Gemeinsamkeiten des Studiums der Tiermedizin am Beispiel der Tierärztlichen Fakultät der Ludwig-Maximilians Universität (LMU) München und der Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse (ENVT) aufzuzeigen. Mit Hilfe dieser vergleichenden Darstellung wird ersichtlich, dass es einen erheblichen Unterschied in Aufbau und Durchführung des Tiermedizinischen Studiums in beiden Län-dern gibt. Diese Unterschiede müssen für die geplante Angleichung der Studiensysteme in Europa zunächst herausgearbeitet und verdeutlicht werden. Lediglich eine genaue Kenntnis des Aufbaus und Ablaufes des Studiums in den einzelnen europäischen Län-dern ermöglicht eine Gleichstellung des Studiums der Tiermedizin. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sind folgende gravierende Unterschiede zwischen den beiden Ausbildungsstätten herausgearbeitet worden: In Frankreich ist für eine Zulassung an einer der vier „ENV’s“ das erfolgreiche Bestehen eines „Concours“ Voraussetzung. In Deutschland erfolgt die Zulassung zum Studium über die Zentralstelle für die Vergabe von Studienplätzen mittels Abiturnote bzw. für die restli-chen Plätze mittels eines Auswahlgespräches oder im Nachrückverfahren. Die Zulassungsmodalitäten bezüglich der Anzahl der zugelassenen Studierenden sind in Deutschland gesetzlich durch die Kapazitätsverordnung geregelt und nicht dem Bedarf an tierärztlichen Nachwuchs angepasst. In Frankreich erfolgt die Festlegung der Zahl der Studienanfänger über den errechneten aktuellen Bedarf an tierärztlichem Nachwuchs. Der Aufbau des Studiums in Deutschland und Frankreich unterscheidet sich vor allem in der Gestaltung der praktischen Ausbildung der Studenten, auf die an der ENVT ein be-sonderer Wert gelegt wird. Sie findet in Frankreich in Form kleiner sog. „Travaux-Pratiques“ (TP)-Gruppen statt. Diese ermöglicht den Studenten einen besseren und enge-ren klinischen Kontakt sowohl mit den Patienten als auch mit dem Lehrpersonal, als dies an der Tiermedizinischen Fakultät der LMU München möglich ist. Während des Studiums sowie bei einem Vergleich der Pflichtpraktika fällt deutlich der weitaus größere Umfang des Unterrichts in den lebensmittelkundlichen Fächern an der Tiermedizinischen Fakultät der LMU München auf. In Frankreich kann dies in Form eines Kurses nach dem Studium nachgeholt werden. Eine Besonderheit an der Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse ist das System der „Roneo“, das den Studenten als Hauptgrundlage zur Prüfungsvorbereitung dient. Die Stu-denten eines jeden Studienjahres erstellen Mitschriften der Vorlesungen, die wöchentlich zusammengetragen und vervielfältigt werden. Das Studium anhand von Lehrbüchern spielt eine weit geringere Rolle als in Deutschland. Die Prüfungen finden an der Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse in Form von schrift-lichen, mündlichen und praktischen Abschnitts- und Abschlussprüfungen statt. An der Tierärztlichen Fakultät der LMU München hingegen sind die Prüfungen bisher lediglich in mündlicher und eventuell je nach Fach, praktischer Form abzulegen. Fertiger Tierarzt, mit der Erlaubnis zur freien Berufsausübung, ist man in Frankreich nur bei ebenfalls abgeschlossener Promotion. Das Diplom über den Abschluss des Studiums der Tiermedizin alleine berechtigt nicht zum selbständigen Arbeiten. In Deutschland hin-gegen können die Absolventen mit Erhalt der Approbation den Beruf des Tierarztes direkt ausüben. Eine absolvierte Promotion ist dafür nicht Voraussetzung. Aus diesem Grund wird die Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse ab dem Hochschul-jahr 2005 sowohl das „LMD-System“ (Licence-Master-Doctorat), als auch das „European Creditpoint Transfer Systems“ einführen. Derartige Anpassungen des Studiums der Tier-medizin sind für Deutschland bisher entweder noch nicht vorgesehen, bzw. erst in Pla-nung. Zusammenfassend kann nach einer kritischen Betrachtung der Studienreformen gesagt werden, dass der bedeutendste Unterschied in der Tiermedizinischen Ausbildung zwi-schen der Tierärztlichen Fakultät der LMU München und der Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse die praktische Ausbildung der Studenten ist. Diese ist an der ENVT deutlich intensiver und besser organisiert und bereitet ihre Absolventen nachweislich besser auf die späteren Hauptbetätigungsfelder in der Tierärztlichen Praxis oder Klinik vor. Die Vermittlung praktischer Fähigkeiten weist zwischen den tierärztlichen Ausbildungsstätten der beiden Länder erhebliche Unterschiede auf. Unzulänglichkeiten auf diesem Gebiet werden den hiesigen tierärztlichen Ausbildungsstätten von Seiten der „Association Européenne des Etablissements d’Enseignement Vétérinaire“ (AEEEV) vorgehalten.
