We have been getting accountability all wrong in the compliance profession. It's not a set of tasks - it's a way of thinking and it has to come from the heart as well as the head. On Accountability: The Heart of Compliance Tom Fox and Sam Silverstein dig into what accountability means to the corporate compliance function and business organizations and most significantly, how to make it an integral part of your culture. In this episode we post the recent Executive Forum on Ethics and Accountability. It focused on effectively expanding the effectiveness of your ethical program, how to use The Accountability Assessment™ to spot deficiencies, and how to build and protect your organization's ethical culture. Finally how all of this tie directly into the DOJ’s Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs. For more information on Sam Silverstein and his work on accountability, click here. Dana has always left a legacy behind. She believes strongly in leaving things better than she found them, and her record shows it. While working at SIA as Senior VP of Strategy and Solutions, Dana co-launched the industry’s first-ever buyside conference, research council, advisory practice, and speaker bureau. This resulted in a complete organizational structure change to scale and ultimately sell the founder's company, along with the CEO and Chief Analyst, to Crain Communications. During her time as Global Vice President at TAPFIN, Dana designed, collaborated, and led the Global Managed Services (BPO) Center of Excellence for TAPFIN. By working with 66 country experts across sales, finance, legal, tax, operations, back office, and implementations, her team delivered standardized methods across Fortune Company clients while honoring nuances within each region, country, and province. Dana also directed a team of market intel and thought leader experts, mining proprietary data and correlating it with externally available market and economic data, to create and launch the first-ever company Contingent Workforce Index. Today, this is not only a Global Index but the basis for a new revenue model. Dana left TAPFIN to join ICon Professional Services (now TalentWave), where she served as COO and President of Alliances and Advisory Services. As COO, she led growth initiatives that resulted in the final transaction to a substantial private equity exit for the owner/founder of ICon within 18 months, doubling the company’s revenues by developing and executing against a three-horizon plan ahead of timeline by ten months. As President, she was an architect of change and led the industry’s first alliance and advisory practice. She was responsible for the team of experts who jumpstarted TalentWave’s growth engine with the vision of revolutionizing the way companies and freelancers take the first step to becoming compliant. The aforementioned successes and her 20+ years of experience led her to be recognized as a Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 2015 Woman of Influence, a judge for the 2016 and 2017 Stevie Awards in the Individual/Female Executive Award categories, and a member of SIA’s Global Power 150 for the Women in Staffing category in 2018. She has also spoken at a variety of international keynotes and expert panels within the talent ecosystem for such notable companies as Fieldglass, PeopleFluent, Allegis, and TAPFIN. She has also presented at industry events such as SIA’s CW Solution, SIA’s Executive Forum, and the TechServe Alliance Annual Conference. Not satisfied to only talk about her opinions and thoughts, she has published pieces in SI Review, CW 3.0, HRO, Compliance Week, The Fordyce Letter, and Institute Supply Management Magazine, among many others. Helping companies anticipate “what’s next” is a specialty of hers.Today, Dana has started her own consulting and advisory firm, Phoenix5, embarking on the next phase of her career as an advisor, coach, speaker, and mentor, evangelizing a new mindset: Stop Settling®. Phoenix5 transforms individuals and organizations holistically in an accelerated way with maximum return. Stop Settling builds on that vision by offering a sustainable alternative to the work-life balance myth through a simple composite StrataGEM® charting that frees companies and professionals from giving in and giving up on sustainable success. With that in mind, Dana has begun coaching and advising an elite and like-minded team of Fortune, Staffing, and Digital Platform leaders, while collaborating with thought leaders and innovators of all kinds, to revolutionize the way we work and lead the voice of the new talent movement. She is a Founder and Global Staffing Evangelist for SOAR and also serves as a member of the advisory boards for Opolis, Reboot Accel, VNDLY, Shiftgig, and LNQ Systems.https://phoenix5th.com/

Elizabeth Moss is dedicated to recognizing Maine’s role in American Art. She opened her gallery in 2004 after completing a master of art's program in museum studies and curatorial research at George Washington University. While in Washington she worked at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden and was a member of Zonta International and a founding member of the Smithsonian Young Benefactors. In 2010, she founded the nonprofit arts organization the Maine Museum of Photographic Arts and was its Executive Director from 2010- 2014 and today heads the Advisory Board. In 2013, she was a finalist in Maine Family Business Awards for Elizabeth Moss Galleries and the gallery was named one of the top 500 Galleries in North America by Blouin International's website ArtInfo. She is also an active member of the Women's Executive Forum. As director of Elizabeth Moss Galleries, she has exhibited at international art fairs in NYC's 28th Street Armory and Boston's AD20/21 at the Cyclorama. Artworks from her gallery have been included in the Art in Embassies program and are in the corporate collections of LL Bean, Acadia Insurance and Maine General Hospital and countless private collections in the US, France, Saudi Arabia and Finland. Click to tweet: .@emossgalleries is sharing her story to inspire you on Women Taking the Lead https://womentakingthelead.com/227 #inspiration Playing Small Moment At the start of her business, Elizabeth was told by two well-known gallery owners that she should move to a more popular area. Elizabeth knew that she would probably flourish in a lofty place away from the strip mall she was in, but stayed put. It may not have been glamorous, but she wouldn’t have survived if she had followed their advice. The Wake Up Call In 2010, a client inquired about a painting that had been in their family a long time. With Elizabeth’s love for art history, she took a look at the painting and saw the beauty shine through. Discovering that the painting had an incredible history, Elizabeth realized she has just as much to offer as everyone else outside of Maine. What Are You Excited About? Elizabeth wants to focus on branching outside of Maine, possibly nationwide. Current Business Challenge Elizabeth feels like there is a retraction in art market. With recent politics, there is a little uncertainty in where it’s all going and the unknown can impact a nonessential industry like art. Leadership Practice Elizabeth’s relationships with everyone she knows. Advice For Younger Self It’s okay if you’re not 100% every day. It’s ok to be 60-70% sometimes as the days you are 124% will even it out in the end.
