We filmed this episode back in May, before Bree welcomed a new life into the world and before Vik lost his mother. A lot has changed since then. As we release it now, it feels more relevant than ever. Drinks With a VC has always been about more than startups and term sheets. It's about the humans behind the headlines, the resilience it takes to build, the humility to grow, the clarity to catch the next wave, and the wisdom to know when to let one go.There's no better guest to rejoin the conversation with than Tae Hea Nahm. He is the founding managing director of Storm Ventures, co-author of Survival to Thrival, and a deeply thoughtful investor, operator, and teacher. From St. Louis to Seoul to Sand Hill Road, Tae Hea has seen it all, and he continues to anticipate the next wave before most founders even paddle out.In this episode, we dive into his Path to Surfing Unicorn framework and why founders need to anticipate the wave before they try to surf it if they want to build category-defining companies. We also get into:

The Game Changers podcast celebrates those true pioneers in education who are building schools for tomorrow. In episode 193 of Game Changers, Phil Cummins joins in conversation with Benjamin Cooper, Executive Chef at Chin Chin for a holiday special. Hailing from the small town of Taree in New South Wales, Benjamin Cooper has been Executive Chef at beloved Southeast Asian restaurant Chin Chin for the past 13 years. He has worked with several of Australia's most celebrated chefs, flexing his skill and knowledge in kitchens across Melbourne and the UK. Originally aiming to pursue a career in economics, Benjamin ended up completing a culinary apprenticeship on a gap year — and never looked back. The early days of his career saw him head to the UK, where he worked with head chefs at renowned restaurants including Nobu London, Bluebird in Chelsea and Smiths of Smithfield. Cooper's passion for authentic techniques and high-quality ingredients grew as he worked with Australia's best-known Thai cuisine chef, David Thompson, at Nahm within London's The Halkin — the first Michelin-starred Thai restaurant in Europe. Returning to Melbourne, Benjamin worked as Head Chef at fine-diner Ezard and esteemed Thai restaurant Longrain, both stints cementing his love of fresh and fiery flavours. In 2011, Benjamin joined restaurateur Chris Lucas to launch Chin Chin, where his now trademark big, brash flavour combinations had diners lining up down the street from day one. An icon of Melbourne's food scene, Chin Chin arguably kickstarted the city's trend of dining with energy, colour and music from its location on Flinders Lane. Benjamin's passion, understanding of ingredients and knack for experimenting with flavours and texture combinations has redefined Southeast Asian cuisine in Australia. It's helped drive Chin Chin's incredible success within the country's hospitality scene, not just with the restaurant's original Melbourne location, but also its second outpost in Sydney's Surry Hills (opened in 2017) and the addition of Club Chin Chin at GMHBA Stadium (2024). Aside from the fiery Asian food he brings to life at Chin Chin, Cooper is passionate about coffee and cheese, and shares his years of culinary experience with those keen to learn via Chin Chin's own ‘Cooking with Cooper' classes. Benjamin's recipes and kitchen experience have also contributed to Chin Chin's three cookbooks, ‘Chin Chin: The Book', ‘Chin Chin: Feed Me' and the just-released ‘Chin Chin: Still Hungry'. // Werbepartner dieser Folge ist NATURSTROM. our kentucky module continues with ancient oceans of central kentucky by david connerley nahm as well as, you guessed it: more kentucky facts. first, though, we explore the twisted mind of matthew vaughn. we then discuss the profound sadness in the book, the best passage in the novel (which we agree upon), and why the ending worked (in spite of being more “plotty” than the rest of the book). shreds does some visual aids that can't be seen before talking down to joey about being uncultured; joey fires back. we talk about the novel's connection to j.d. wilkes' the vine that ate the south and remember ghost stories (sort of) from our own childhoods. we talk about the process of recording audiobooks. My family moved to Bowling Green in 1987, but we weren't the first Jews to live there, far from it. Jews had been settling in Bowling Green for over 150 years, drawn by economic prosperity. Jewish merchants helped open up the American frontier, wherever they could a stream or railroad to follow. They learned to adapt their faith and traditions to a new place, one where there wasn't a Jewish community to rely on. And when their children grew older, and fell in love, it was sometimes with a local Christian kid. In this episode, I speak with Dr. Laura Yares of Michigan State about 19th century Jewish life, and what it can teach us today. I also speak with Dr. Matt Boxer of Brandeis University about how and why Jews ended up in small towns to begin with. Along the way, Ben Dubrovsky shares another chapter in the story of Josh, while I share the Jewish history of the Nahm family, four brother who settled in Bowling Green just before the Civil War. The episode finishes with an introduction to a new friend, John Nahm, who grew up in Bowling Green and whose great-grandfather was Sam Nahm, one of the four original brothers and the only one to be buried in Bowling Green. 72 Miles features the stories of three separate interfaith Jewish families–two real, one not, and one mine. Together, they trace 150 years of Kentucky history, with experiences that resonate today—about being Jewish in America, about being Jewish and southern at the same time. About being Jewish, being interfaith, and the blending of the two. So strap in, and take a ride with me, up and down I65, or back and forth on the L&N Railroad. In the end the when and the who don't make as much difference and you might think. But the where sure does. My name is Nathan Jordan Vaughan. It's 72 Miles til Kentucky. Winemaker and restaurateur Troy Walsh became curious about wine as a child when his Italian neighbours turned the grapes overhanging his fence into something they seemed to enjoy very much. He became a sommelier at top London restaurants including The Square and Nahm, studied winemaking in Burgundy and can now be found at Le Bouchon at Attwoods in Glenlyon, north of Melbourne. The restaurant is a dual showcase of Troy's wine and chef Sean Marshall's French-inspired food. https://www.attwoodswines.com.au/dining Follow Dirty Linen on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/dirtylinenpodcast Follow Dani Valent https://www.instagram.com/danivalent Follow Rob Locke (Executive Producer) https://www.instagram.com/foodwinedine/ Follow Huck (Executive Producer) https://www.instagram.com/huckstergram/ LISTEN TO OUR OTHER FOOD PODCASTS https://linktr.ee/DeepintheWeedsNetwork Dirty Linen is a food podcast hosted by Australian journalist Dani Valent.
