This week on Shat the Movies, we're signing on with Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), the war comedy that promised nonstop laughs and delivered something stranger, sadder, and more complicated. Robin Williams turns in one of his most electric performances as Armed Forces Radio DJ Adrian Cronauer, bringing chaos to the airwaves and headaches to his superiors. Gene and Big D break down the comedy, the culture clash, and whether the movie's mix of humor, music, and Vietnam drama still works today. Is it a comedy, a drama, or just a Robin Williams showcase? Tune in and find out. Plot Summary:Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) is a comedy-drama directed by Barry Levinson and stars Robin Williams, Forest Whitaker, Bruno Kirby, and J. T. Walsh. Inspired by the real experiences of radio personality Adrian Cronauer, the film follows an irreverent military DJ who shakes up Armed Forces Radio in Saigon during the Vietnam War. Robin Williams earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, and the film became one of the defining performances of his career, blending improvisational comedy with a more dramatic and reflective tone. On this Episode, Kelly is joined by the one and only: Ricki Lake! She is a TV and film actress, producer, and television show host. You can see her star in Hairspray, or host her Ricki Lake talk show, which ran for 12 seasons and aired over 2,000 episodes! Kelly starts by asking Ricki where she was born. Ricki tells him about growing up and going to school in Westchester and the city. She talks about taking the train in to Manhattan to go to a performing arts school. She and Kelly try to figure out if they share a mutual connection from her high school. Ricki talks about her parents' family business and how she was a true New Yorker.  Ricki then talks about how 9/11 affected her life trajectory. She talks about living in the West Village at the time and witnessing the plane fly down the Hudson River. She talks about how her home birth was such a powerful experience for her, and that mixed with the events and her contract ending influenced her to move to LA. Ricki then talks about how she ended up moving back to New York 20+ years later, when her house burned down in the Malibu fires. She talks about her house and what she was doing when the fires started. She tells us how she and her husband stayed to try to fight the fire and save their home, but ultimately decided to leave everything behind. She talks about how difficult it was to rebuild, and she talks about all of the things that she's lost in the process.  Kelly then asks her about her move back to New York. Ricki talks about how she had a feeling that she didn't want to stay in LA anymore. She talks about how she got the opportunity to spend a few months living in Chelsea at a friend's apartment and how she was able to rediscover the city that way. Kelly asks her about her necklace, and Ricki talks about how she was able to obtain some of the ashes from her house and create a diamond from it, symbolizing her rebirth. Kelly talks with Ricki about Hairspray! Ricki talks about her casting process and how she went from auditioning for a movie because of a flyer up at her school to getting the lead role in the movie musical. She talks about working with John Waters and Divine, and how the whole cast became a family. Kelly then asks her about her Ricki Lake Talk show, and she gives him the inside scoop on how she got the role.  Kelly then asks her about some of her other work in documentary film, dancing with the stars, and her second TV show, The Ricki Lake Show. She talks about how documentary filmmaking became a personal passion of hers. She talks about how The Business of Being Born still helps new mothers through childbirth. She tells Kelly about how much she loved getting to do Dancing with the Stars, even though she avoided doing it for so long. Kelly let her know that he thought she should have won her season, but Ricki accepted her third-place position. Ricki then talks about why she wanted to go back and do another talk show. She talks about what she was hoping would be different and how that didn't end up being the case. But she was grateful to win an EMMY for her work, but laments that she lost it in the fire.  Finally, Kelly has a surprise that he'd been saving for Ricki all show. He tells her and she is absolutely shocked and delighted.  But above all else; Ricki Lake is a New Yorker  Kelly Kopp's Social Media: @NewYorkCityKopp Ricki Lake's Social media @RickiLake Jae's Social Media @StudioJae170 Chapters (00:00:00) - Ricki Lake on Being a New Yorker(00:02:19) - Ricky on 9/11(00:06:15) - Cannizzaro on 9/11(00:08:57) - Ricky on Starting a Talk Show at 24(00:12:58) - One New Yorker's Story of The Fire(00:14:56) - Malibu Firefighter on the Fire(00:20:16) - A Broadway Star Gets Her Back(00:24:14) - Katie Levine on Broadway's(00:26:37) - Jennifer Aniston on Hairspray(00:27:04) - Jay Leno on Hairspray(00:28:05) - Fat Girl In John Waters' 'The Fat Girl'(00:30:19) - Tracy Turnblatt on Working With John Waters(00:32:37) - John Waters on Dancing in Hairspray(00:34:09) - Dancing With the Stars... This week in physical media, Erik Childress and Peter Sobczynski look at John Waters getting the Criterion treatment. There are a pair of middle-of-the-road (at best) upgrades for Adam Sandler as well as a film with his Bulletproof co-star. James Garner and Bruce Willis in a Hollywood western murder mystery misfire but thankfully Clint Eastwood is also here to save the day. There is the Takashi Miike film that makes good use of the term “not for the squeamish.” And while the subject matter of one death after another did not bode well for a Robin Williams film about heaven and hell, the duo make the case that it was worth a revisit.1:33 - Criterion (Desperate Living (4K), Hairspray (1987) (4K))31:57 - Alliance (Sunset)41:09 - Kino (Hang ‘Em High (4K), Major Payne)1:00:15 - Sony (50 First Dates (4K), Click (4K))1:17:40 - Shout (What Dreams May Come (4K))1:37:51 - Arrow (Audition (4K))1:54:38 – New TV on Blu-ray (Masters of the Universe: Revelation/Revolution (Steelbook), I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Complete Series)1:56:23 - New Theatrical Titles on Blu-ray (Alpha (2025), Magellan, Mr. K, Pools, The Last Showgirl)2:01:10 - New Blu-ray AnnouncementsCLICK ON THE FILMS TO RENT OR PURCHASE AND HELP OUT THE MOVIE MADNESS PODCAST OR BUY FROM MOVIEZYNGBe sure to check outErik's Weekly Box Office Column – At Rotten TomatoesCritics' Classics Series – At Elk Grove Cinema in Elk Grove Village, ILChicago Screening Schedule - All the films coming to theaters and streamingPhysical Media Schedule - Click & Buy upcoming titles for your library.(Direct purchases help the Movie Madness podcast with a few pennies.)Erik's Linktree - Where you can follow Erik and his work anywhere and everywhere. The Movie Madness Podcast has been recognized by Million Podcasts as one of the Top 100 Best Movie Review Podcasts as well as in the Top 60 Film Festival Podcasts and Top 100 Cinephile Podcasts. Popp Talk with Mary Jane Popp Sweet Potatoes, Holistic Health, Anti-Aging and a Life of Many Voices Dr. Susan Smith Jones & Jim Messkimen Sweet Potatoes, Many Voices, and the Art of Living Well A Two-Part Hour of Health, Humor, and Performance In this episode of Popp Talk, host Mary Jane Popp presents a two-guest program that moves from holistic nutrition to show-business creativity. The first half features Dr. Susan Smith Jones, who discusses the health benefits of sweet potatoes and her book A Hug in a Mug. The second half features actor, voice artist, impressionist, and performer Jim Messkimen, who talks about impressions, improvisation, acting, audio books, art, and his famous mother, Marion Ross of Happy Days. Dr. Susan Smith Jones and the Power of Sweet Potatoes Mary Jane opens by introducing Dr. Susan Smith Jones as a longtime holistic health expert, author, educator, and advocate for optimum nutrition and balanced living. Dr. Jones says the featured “sweet treat” of the episode is the sweet potato, one of her ten favorite superfoods. She explains that sweet potatoes are often confused with yams, but that they stand apart nutritionally because of their color, antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, minerals, and versatility in meals. A Nutritional Powerhouse From Head to Toe Dr. Jones explains that orange sweet potatoes are rich in beta carotene, which converts into vitamin A and supports vision, immunity, and skin health. She also discusses vitamin C, vitamin E, potassium, fiber, and anthocyanins, especially in purple sweet potatoes. These nutrients, she says, help support cardiovascular health, blood pressure, digestion, gut bacteria, immune defense, brain function, eye health, inflammation reduction, skin elasticity, collagen production, and healthy hair growth. Gut Health, Inflammation, and Everyday Immunity A major part of the health conversation centers on digestion and inflammation. Dr. Jones explains that sweet potatoes contain both soluble and insoluble fiber, supporting healthy gut bacteria while also keeping digestion moving. She connects gut health to overall immune function and explains that antioxidants in sweet potatoes may help reduce systemic inflammation, which she describes as connected to many diseases. She also emphasizes sweet potatoes as immune-supporting food during cold, flu, and COVID seasons. Easy Ways to Eat Sweet Potatoes Dr. Jones gives several practical ways to use sweet potatoes in everyday food. She suggests baking them simply with a little salt and extra virgin olive oil, spiralizing them into pasta, steaming and chilling them for smoothies, adding them to pancakes, salads, soups, muffins, breads, puddings, and desserts, or slicing them into baked chips. She especially recommends a bright orange soup made from sweet potatoes, carrots, and butternut squash, which she says is rich in beta carotene and supportive for vision, immunity, inflammation, and overall health. A Hug in a Mug and Holistic Living Mary Jane asks Dr. Jones about her latest book, A Hug in a Mug, whose subtitle focuses on fruits, vegetables, juices, soups, spices, teas, and healthy living extras. Dr. Jones says the book offers natural approaches for ailments from head to toe, along with more than one hundred recipes and practical guidance on healthy living. She also mentions related topics such as intermittent fasting, cold therapy, motivation, sleep, exercise, and injury prevention. She directs listeners to SusanSmithJones.com, where they can learn about her books, newsletter, X updates, and personalized autographed copies. Jim Messkimen and a Life of Many Voices After the health segment, Mary Jane welcomes Jim Messkimen, describing him as an extraordinary impressionist, actor, voice-over artist, and the son of Happy Days actress Marion Ross. Jim explains that although Mary Jane heard he had thirty-eight voices, he now does well over one hundred. He says he is always listening, collecting, and analyzing voices, especially from politics, entertainment, and public life. His impressions include figures such as George W. Bush, Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson, Robin Williams, Alan Rickman, Judi Dench, Johnny Carson, Jimmy Stewart, Patrick Stewart, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden. Happy Days, Jumping the Shark, and Growing Up Around Talent Mary Jane asks Jim about his connection to Happy Days, and he explains that he appeared in the famous “jump the shark” episode, where Fonzie waterskied over a shark while the cast visited Hollywood. Jim says he was the actor on the beach who announced the shark. He also discusses his mother Marion Ross, noting that she had a good ear for dialects and mimicry and that her tolerance and encouragement helped support his own interest in voices. He says Marion is doing well and approaching her ninety-sixth birthday. Improvisation, Acting, and the Comfort of the Unknown Jim talks about his love of improvisation and says he is often more comfortable improvising than memorizing strict, scripted lines. He credits his training at the National Improv Theatre in New York and reflects on working in settings where exact wording matters, including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He also discusses his appearances on Whose Line Is It Anyway? explaining that improvisation is not as mysterious as people think because ordinary conversation is improvised all day long. Impressions as Acting, Listening, and Physical Transformation Jim explains that impressions are not only about vocal sound. He listens for pitch, rhythm, attack, word choices, physical posture, facial structure, and the emotional character of the person he is portraying. He says some voices come naturally because they fit his vocal range, while others require physical adjustment and practice. He uses Alan Rickman as an example of a voice requiring a specific internal and external shape. For Jim, the goal is to become the person enough that their thoughts and speech patterns begin to flow naturally. Audio Books, Writers of the Future, and Galaxy Press Mary Jane and Jim discuss his work with Galaxy Press and the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future anthology. Jim says he, his wife, and his daughter have narrated stories for recent anthology volumes, including volume 40, and he encourages listeners to check out the audiobook or physical book. He also describes directing the large-cast audiobook version of Battlefield Earth, a nearly thousand-page project that took about nine months to record, involved many actors, music, and sound effects, and won an audio award. Art, Cartooning, and the Creative Path Mary Jane asks who Jim Messkimen is beyond the voices, and Jim says he is an artist at heart. His first love was drawing and cartooning, and he once imagined becoming a cartoonist. He drew for school papers and yearbooks, worked at Hanna-Barbera as a storyboard assistant, became a professional illustrator and cartoonist, and later studied classical art in Spain and Northern California. Although acting eventually became his main career, he still paints, draws, and shares artwork occasionally through his website and social media. Closing With Creativity and Curiosity The interview closes with Jim sharing where listeners can find him, including JimMesskimen.com, social media, and his online courses for impressions and voice acting. Mary Jane also expresses interest in having him back to discuss artificial intelligence and its possible impact on voices, performance, and thought. She ends the show by praising Jim's talent and closing with her familiar reminder to “live simply, laugh often, love deeply, and above all else, dare to dream.”

A lost audio artifact has resurfaced, and it is pure pop culture gold! We're talking about the ultimate, mind-melting crossover event: George Lucas and Robin Williams going deep during the peak Attack of the Clones era.  Back in the early 2000s, George Lucas sat down with Robin Williams for a wide-ranging conversation about Star Wars and filmmaking. This full interview was removed from the internet many years ago but it has been made available again and review a few choice highlights of when The Maker met Mork.  Plus, we have clips of Brendan Wayne discussing The Mandalorian and Grogu, along with listener feedback about the Mando movie and the potential for a Cal Kestis film. And, was the quote "This Is The Way" stolen from Game of Thrones? Did Grogu once actually say "This is the way" in an episode of The Mandalorian? We break it all down and look ahead to next year's Star Wars: Starfighter with speculation about the plot, characters and more!

This week, we're celebrating Pride with the movie that brought the drag queen road trip genre to America! Hot on the high heels of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert from 1994 Australia comes this 1995 American release starring Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo. When their car breaks down in small-town Nebraska, three drag queens must win the hearts and minds of the local townsfolk while evading a bigoted sheriff. With supporting turns by Stockard Channing, Blythe Danner, Chris Penn, Arliss Howard, and cameos by RuPaul, Naomi Campbell, Robin Williams, and the titular statuesque actress herself, the film opened at number one at the box office and is considered groundbreaking for being the first mainstream Hollywood production to depict drag queens. Along with RuPaul's popularity, the 1990 documentary Paris is Burning, and the aforementioned Priscila, interest in drag drove audiences to the cinema. Critics, however, were less enthused, but Swayze and Leguizamo were both nominated for Golden Globes, and the film has, of course, endured as an icon of queer cinema. Now the four of us are piling into a yellow convertible 1967 Cadillac DeVille with an autographed copy of the improbably titled To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Thanks to our Partners, Pico Technology, and AutelWatch Full Video EpisodeMatt Fanslow continues his exploration of game theory by examining the difference between a shop's official game and its shadow game. The official game is what ownership and management say the shop values: quality work, safety, fairness, employee support, customer care, and doing things the right way.The shadow game is what the shop's systems, incentives, habits, exceptions, and unwritten rules actually reward. Those two games are not always completely opposed, and the gap between them is not necessarily created intentionally. Management may sincerely believe in the official game while remaining unaware of the behaviors being produced by compensation plans, workflow problems, favoritism, poor communication, broken equipment, or inadequate support.Matt looks at how employees can respond rationally to the system in front of them, even when those responses undermine the shop's stated purpose. Pride Month keeps the celebration moving on We Drink & We Watch Things as we transition from the quiet, burning embers of 18th-century France to the bright, neon-soaked drag capital of South Beach. For our "G" selection in the lineup, we are throwing it back to 1996 for Mike Nichols and Elaine May's sublime masterclass in comedic farce: The Birdcage. Mix yourself something wonderfully refreshing - perhaps Lemar's "Straight" Bourbon - and get ready for a family dinner where absolutely nothing goes according to plan. This week, we celebrate the legendary chemistry between Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, looking at how Williams plays the perfect, anchored straight man (pun intended) to Lane's fiercely dramatic, Barbara Bush-redefining Albert. We bask in the glorious, scene-stealing supporting work of Hank Azaria as the perpetually barefoot Agador Spartacus and Gene Hackman as the ultra-conservative Senator Keeley, who unwittingly ends up in the drag escape of a lifetime. We also break down the film's incredible heart, discussing how beneath the chaotic Martha Graham choreography, the "eco-friendly" naked-boy pottery, and the frantic attempts to pass as straight, it is a deeply moving portrait of unconditional love and a radical defense of queer families. If you can instantly recite the difference between a John Wayne walk and a regular walk, or if you just want to hear us gush about the comedic genius of an Elaine May screenplay, this episode is pure joy. We're blending our adoration for this comfort-movie masterpiece with our usual casual banter, proving that when the world gets crazy, sometimes you just have to give 'em a little bit of Fosse, Fosse, Fosse! This episode VIDEO is live on YouTube AND Spotify!Follow us on Instagram to get ep sneak peaks and find out what's coming up. King Scott finally reveals whether he's having a boy or a girl, but because this is The Rizzuto Show, the reveal involves questionable planning, poor weapon handling, and two unsuspecting coworkers standing against a wall hoping they don't get blasted. Radio professionalism remains undefeated. Before the big reveal, the gang gears up for Night of the Rizzlies at the Gateway Grizzlies game, debates who can throw the fastest first pitch without embarrassing themselves, and questions whether Moon's partially destroyed knee can survive an outfield race. The confidence level is high. The odds of injury are somehow even higher. Then things get surprisingly heated when the crew tackles one of the biggest comedy questions imaginable: Who is the greatest stand-up comedian turned actor of all time? Robin Williams? Eddie Murphy? Jim Carrey? Steve Martin? Adam Sandler? Billy Crystal? The debate spirals into movie history, personal rankings, forgotten classics, and enough opinions to start at least three internet arguments. In Crap On Celebrities, Lern brings everything from Beastie Boys news and Marilyn Manson legal updates to TV cancellations, celebrity health stories, Hulk Hogan documentary discussion, and one of the strangest medical conditions anyone has ever heard of. Apparently some people sneeze when they're too full. The show spends an alarming amount of time exploring that concept. The gang also revisits cult classics like The Cable Guy, argues over the true Mount Rushmore of 1970s rock bands, and somehow turns a discussion about diarrhea into a surprisingly detailed scientific investigation. Nobody asked for that. Yet here we are.And because becoming a father isn't stressful enough, King Scott sticks around for "Feed Baby Scott," where listeners try to identify mystery baby foods while Scott gets spoon-fed questionable purees. If you've ever convinced yourself you were dying only to discover you just forgot your morning coffee, congratulations—you and Moon have something in common. This episode begins with Moon's dramatic weekend health crisis, which included headaches, body aches, sweating, canceled plans, and a genuine belief that he had caught the flu. After missing parties, skipping events, and suffering through a soccer match, the shocking diagnosis arrived: accidental caffeine withdrawal. One decaf mistake later, Moon was spiraling. Two rose lattes later, he was ready to conquer the world, write albums, and possibly become mayor of Paris.Meanwhile, the crew breaks down one of the most unexpected party surprises in recent memory when former Blues star Jamie Rivers decides the perfect pool-opening gift for his fiancée Ashley is... live monkeys. Not monkey decorations. Not monkey-themed cupcakes. Actual monkeys. Naturally, the monkeys arrive during a crowded backyard party packed with guests, children, music, and enough chaos to make everyone question several life choices. The result is equal parts adorable, confusing, and mildly terrifying. The conversation somehow escalates into monkey behavior analysis, party planning mistakes, surprise animal logistics, and the realization that getting bitten by a monkey in a bikini was probably not on anyone's weekend bingo card. The gang also recaps King Scott's massive baby shower, complete with mountains of gifts, bacon, desserts, and the looming anticipation of the show's upcoming gender reveal. There are discussions about weird party foods, mysterious hot-dog cake creations, and why some recipes should maybe stay inside family cookbooks. As if that wasn't enough, Rafe conducts what can only be described as investigative journalism by revisiting a local Hooters. What follows is an unexpectedly deep exploration of restaurant culture, paper plates, silent dining rooms, forgotten glory days, and whether a restaurant can accidentally become an existential experience. It's part food review, part sociology experiment, and part cry for help. The crew also tackles one of life's toughest questions: what's the saddest food to eat alone? Cake? Ice cream? A blooming onion? The answers get surprisingly personal as stories of lonely desserts, spaghetti mishaps, old promotional cakes, and questionable life decisions come flooding out. From caffeine dependency and monkey business to restaurant nostalgia and emotional food debates, this episode delivers exactly the kind of beautiful nonsense that makes this daily comedy show what it is. If you're looking for a daily comedy show that can seamlessly connect French coffee, poolside monkeys, hot-dog cake, and Hooters trivia without ever making sense, you've found your people. One minute you're discussing legendary comedians. Future fatherhood preparation? Not exactly. Entertaining radio? Absolutely.Today's episode of The Rizzuto Show answers a question absolutely nobody asked: can King Scott identify baby food flavors while blindfolded and trapped in audio isolation?Armed with an airplane spoon, questionable parenting products, and the confidence of a man who claimed he'd "never gotten this wrong before," Scott stepped into one of the weirdest challenges we've ever put on the show. What followed was a rollercoaster of carrots, sweet peas, green beans, applesauce, chicken broth, and enough pureed mystery meat to make everyone in the room reconsider modern food science.Things start innocent enough when Scott confidently nails carrot. That's where the success story ends. Soon he's identifying sweet peas as asparagus, green beans as apricot, and repeatedly convincing himself that every suspicious meat product on earth somehow tastes like tuna. Meanwhile, Moon embraces his new role as Baby Food Sommelier, Rafe nearly loses his lunch from the smell of ham puree, and Lern spends most of the challenge laughing at Scott looking like he's awaiting sentencing in the electric chair.Along the way, the gang talks about the upcoming Operation Food Search canned food drive, broadcasting outside the station for the first time in years, and why the studio might actually be the sixth member of the show. Then it's right back to watching a grown man try to process flavors designed for people who can't legally walk yet.The real star of the show might be the baby food itself. The ham and gravy drew immediate comparisons to cat food. The chicken and broth somehow smelled worse. Multiple show members gagged. One nearly threw up. Scott requested second bites of several flavors despite clear evidence that his taste buds had already filed formal complaints. If you've ever wondered what happens when confidence collides head-on with pureed meat products, this episode delivers. It's a masterclass in bad guesses, terrible smells, and the kind of chaos that only happens when a daily radio show decides to turn one of its hosts into a giant toddler for entertainment purposes. This is exactly the kind of funny podcast nonsense that keeps us employed. It's a funny podcast filled with bad decisions, questionable food choices, and a shocking amount of discussion about tuna that wasn't actually tuna. This week we tackle the story of Kurt Russell and Robin Williams teaming up to relive the most painful dropped pass in history… because apparently therapy was too expensive in the ‘80s. Is there any way these guys forget about Monday Night Football? Was Luther too cool to practice? Why is Jack the way he is? Life is short, you don't want to miss this episode!

We're back with the sequel, only this time we travel to the Smithsonian where Robin Williams gets maybe three scenes max in this movie, one which he's a bronze statue with no limbs. In this movie you will be tested on the strange world-building properties of the mystical tablet that brings all of the exhibits to life. What's the tablets range? Does it reach through walls, tunnels and other buildings? How come Ben Stiller doesn't just deactivate the tablet at the beginning of this movie like Dick Van Dyke does in the first one?? None of these questions will have answers.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Shamus back on the show as they discuss the 1986 sports comedy The Best of Time.  In this Robin Williams led flick, he has to get the old team back together to replay a football game that his dropped pass caused his team to tie.  TIE??  This ain't soccer.  How can they develope a plot over a tie game?  Anyway, Kurt Russell is the QB and along for the ride, as we wants to capture some of the old glory too.  The casting agent for this movie must have had a hard time finding a bunch of guys in their early 30s to act as the rest of the team, since this really looks like an old timers game at some points.  Anyway, enjoy the podcast!Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). They walk through why "insurability is a currency," how convertible term lets you shield tens of millions from estate tax without consuming your exemption, and why the conventional advice to move everything out of your estate is often wrong.Chapters: 00:00 – Opening segment01:55 – Why estate planning is unique to every family 04:25 – The Last Will and Testament: pros, cons, and the guardianship rule 09:35 – The "title test": what goes in the will vs. the trust 12:30 – Probate, public record, and Robin Williams 18:10 – Revocable trusts: what they actually do 25:40 – Frankenstein trusts and the funding problem 27:55 – Pour-over wills as the catch-all 33:25 – Why vague language kills directives 41:30 – Financial power of attorney and conservatorship 44:20 – Why banks demand their own POA forms 48:50 – Why the four documents stay separate 51:35 – Estate tax vs. income tax 01:01:00 – A real case: $6M policy, the irrevocable fix 01:04:00 – Insurability is a currency 01:11:50 – The Rockefeller Method: IBC on the kids 01:17:25 – Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts 01:23:50 – Why the IRS allows hot-swapping assets 01:35:15 – Apocalyptic optionality: how IBC creates options 01:37:35 – Closing thoughtsKey Takeaways:Every American needs the big four documents: a will, a revocable trust, a medical directive, and a financial power of attorney. The will is non-negotiable if you have kids because it names guardians, and a trust cannot.Insurability is a currency. Every healthy year you don't lock in coverage is wealth left on the table, and convertible term placed in an irrevocable trust consumes $0 of your $30M estate tax exemption. The contrarian play is to keep assets in your estate, not out of it. Preserve the step-up in basis on appreciating assets, then use massive life insurance death benefit (owned irrevocably) to pay the inevitable tax bill tax-free.Whole life beat the Barclays Aggregate Bond Index in 9 of the last 10 years after tax. The 15-year return on the broadest bond index is 2.21% taxable versus roughly 4.5-5% tax-free for dividend-paying whole life, with a death benefit on top.The Rockefeller Method scales this across generations. Start max-funded IBC policies on the kids, keep them in your estate, and create cascading multi-generational liquidity where each generation gets a step-up and tax-free death benefit to pay the next round of taxes.

The internet woke up in full panic mode after Instagram launched a massive bot purge that vaporized millions of followers from celebrities, influencers, and probably your cousin who suddenly became a “fitness entrepreneur” during the pandemic. Kylie Jenner lost 14 million followers in a blink, and suddenly everybody online started acting like follower counts never mattered anyway. Sure, Jan.The gang dives into the chaos of fake followers disappearing, why advertisers are finally cracking down, and how even normal accounts can tell when the bots get exterminated. It's basically robot Hunger Games happening quietly in the background of social media while everybody keeps posting blurry vacation photos and motivational quotes stolen from Pinterest. Then somehow the conversation turns into Angry Birds officially entering the Video Game Hall of Fame. Yes. Angry Birds. The little phone game that destroyed productivity in offices across America is now standing next to gaming legends like Doom and Oregon Trail. The crew debates what games deserve Hall of Fame status, why Guitar Hero absolutely got robbed, and how Tony Hawk's Pro Skater soundtracks basically raised an entire generation of emotionally confused skateboard kids. There's also a deep dive into concert experiences at the Sphere in Las Vegas, including No Doubt, Metallica, Tool, and the realization that Tool might actually be the perfect Sphere band because nobody in Tool has ever looked interested in being on stage anyway. The visual effects do the heavy lifting while the audience collectively melts into a psychedelic lava lamp.Moon talks about how video games became one of the biggest discovery tools for music, including stories about Story of the Year songs unexpectedly blowing up after landing in racing games and MLB titles.
