I'd like to know what's buzzin', cousins, as I bring you the 716th podcast on Have You Ever Seen. Preston Sturges was making a lot of hay in the early '40s, releasing The Lady Eve AND Sullivan's Travels the year before The Palm Beach Story came out. Palm Beach isn't as classic or as funny as THOSE two are, but it's an effectively zany, fast-talkin' rom-com. Claudette Colbert and Joel McCrea make for a compelling married NYC couple. She tries to divorce him (you'll never guess where), so she can marry a rich man like Rudy Vallee...and then help her ex out by getting him some money out of the deal. If you think THAT'S whacky, wait until the out-of-deep-left-field ending! But The Palm Beach Story IS a fun time and I've got all kinds of stories to tell about it. Subscribe to this channel and you'll never miss an episode. I'm doing more shows lately...and posting on various days of the week. Rate and review the podcast in your app too. Letterboxd: RyanHYES. Hear about travel to Sardinia as the Amateur Traveler talks to Shannon O'Brien from shannon-obrien.com about her visit to this island corner of Italy. Why should you go to Sardinia? Shannon says, "It's Italian, but it's a very different vibe as well from mainland Italy. There's insanely beautiful beaches. Some argue some of the most beautiful beaches of the world. The water is crystal blue; it looks like Windex. The white sand beaches. The interior of the island has these huge mountains that kind of bleed into the ocean. Winding coastal roads up and down both sides of the island with insane views. It exceeded my expectations for sure." Shannon's Recommended Sardinia Itinerary (West Coast Focus, 7–10 Days): Start: Cagliari (1–2 nights) Fly into Cagliari, Sardinia's capital. Explore the Castello district, including Saint Remy Bastion and Cagliari Cathedral. Wander cobblestone streets, historic fortifications, and viewpoints. Shannon recommends keeping this short; it's a gateway, not the main event. ... https://amateurtraveler.com/travel-to-sardinia/ Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

For at least nine months in the twelve, the people of this rare old town live out of doors nearly all the waking hours of the twenty-four. For the remaining three months of the year, December, January, and February, they delude themselves into the notion that they are having a winter, when they gather around a winter-time hearth and listen to imaginary wind-roarings in the chimney, and see through the panes fictitious and spectral snow-storms, and dream that they are housed so snug and warm. But when the day comes the sun is shining and there is no trace of white on the ground, and the grass is green and there are industrious buds breaking out of cover, and the earth is sleeping very lightly. Open-eyed, the youngsters sit by these December firesides and listen to their elders tell of the snow-storms in the long ago that came so very, very deep, when snowballs were flying in the streets, and the earth was white, and the 'banquettes,' or sidewalks, were ankle-deep in slush. We're recapping a recent Walt Disney World trip where we start with a big moment for longtime fans — one final ride on DINOSAUR at Disney's Animal Kingdom — sharing what it felt like to experience this attraction again and why it hit a little differently this time around. From there, we dive into Festival of the Arts for some updates at EPCOT while also taking a moment to pay tribute to Catherine O'Hara and her lasting impact. Along the way, we share what impressed us, what missed the mark, and what's actually worth your time (and appetite) on your next visit. We also spend time in Magic Kingdom soaking in some classic favorites — grabbing popcorn, stopping by Casey's Corner, and taking in the Starlight Parade — before doing what we somehow always end up doing and heading over to Disney Springs for Pizza Ponte and a scoop (or two) from Salt & Straw. Finally, we talk about staying off property once again — this time at TownePlace Suites Lake Buena Vista — and share honest thoughts on location, value, parking fees, included perks, and whether it makes sense compared to staying in the Disney bubble.

Gary and Selena drift through everyday chaos, aging, intimacy, and irritation as a casual conversation about colors turns into reflections on turning forty, gift expectations, and the strange emotional weight attached to birthdays. They talk massages, tipping anxiety, overpriced upgrades, sore feet, and the disappointment of hot stone add-ons that miss the point. Domestic tension bubbles up through broken heirlooms, cats causing destruction, and disagreements about emotional reactions, overreacting, and what it means to feel heard during conflict. The conversation slides into awkward neighborhood encounters, paranoia about being overheard, public embarrassment, and how small moments spiral into resentment. Gary and Selena unpack bickering, criticism, Reddit reactions, and the thin line between honest conversation and uncomfortable listening. Travel stress enters the mix with airline seating changes, gate checking chaos, lost seats, and feeling powerless while following instructions. The episode winds through bugs, grasshoppers, bodily discomfort, television fatigue, relationship negotiations, and the quiet realization that everyday life feels louder, messier, and harder to smooth out than expected.

There's something about being on a motorcycle that just feels right — in ways that are hard to explain, but easy to recognize. Not long ago on the show, cognitive scientist Mark Changizi, author of Motorcycle Mind, talked about how riding a motorcycle is unlike anything else we do, because the physics involved mean the bike responds directly to your body — your balance, your inputs, your movement — reacting instantly, almost like a hybrid of human and machine moving as one. That connection sharpens focus and pulls you fully into the moment, and according to Changizi, it can change how our brains process space, motion, and risk. Those changes don't necessarily stop when the bike is shut off, and for some people, riding becomes a place to return to — a way forward when other things aren't working, a focus when life is closing in — and that idea sits at the center of today's episode, as Rusty David shares his story. This episode contains a brief reference to suicide. Listener discretion is advised.
This episode centers on Brigham Young's insistence that death does not transform us into something fundamentally different, but removes limitations that currently slow us down. Drawing directly from a funeral sermon, the discussion highlights how embodied beings, including Christ, move, visit, and perceive real places with speed and purpose rather than existing as abstract spirits. Not just where couples go, but why and how travel has always played such a powerful role in love stories. Today's episode is our big picture conversation. We're talking about the history of honeymoons, how romantic travel has evolved, what couples are craving right now, and the design details that turn a nice trip into something unforgettable. Later this month, we'll dive into specific styles of romantic travel, from tropical escapes, to iconic city breaks, to soulful journeys through Africa. But today is about setting the stage. Joining me for this discussion is Jim Augerinos, an expert in honeymoon travel. So imagine yourself with a loved one somewhere beautiful, and enjoy this fun episode of Luxury Travel Insider.
