Today's show is very special. We begin with a brief analysis of the status of our current political race. The White House responded to Trump's demand for a "pre-debate" drug test for both Biden and Trump to let viewers know if either is using chemicals to "assist" in their on-stage performance. Rather than say "No," the White respondent chided Trump for demanding such a test and did so out of fear. Steve Baker, January 6 photojournalist and expert of that day, joined us live in-studio. For an hour he and I broke down what and why we find our nation to be in such dire condition. We both analyze how and why we are here and what things or things put us in these circumstances, but, more importantly, we discuss what it will take to "right the ship U.S.A." Just as we signed off, I received a note that it is "alleged" that Biden is preparing to resign and be replaced by the Vice President. Both Steve and I commented with our thoughts. It's a BIG show today you don't want to miss!
On today's episode of The Edge of Excellence, Matt is joined by entrepreneur Steve Kearley, from Benson Kearley Insurance as they discuss the elements of success, the entrepreneurial mindset, and personal growth through business endeavors. Steve shares his journey from selling designer jeans out of his high school locker to becoming a prominent figure in the insurance industry. He emphasizes the significance of self-measurement and personal growth over comparing oneself to others, highlighting how his definition of excellence has evolved over the years. Steve's narrative is peppered with insights on overcoming societal expectations and focusing on one's strengths and unique abilities.Throughout the discussion, Steve stresses the importance of networking, not in the traditional sense of merely exchanging business cards, but in building meaningful, reciprocal relationships without immediate expectations. This approach to networking, according to Steve, involves connecting people, helping others without a direct benefit to oneself, and ultimately, building a network based on trust and mutual respect. Both Steve and Matt reflect on their experiences within the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), underscoring how such networks have facilitated their business growth and personal development. The conversation also delves into Steve's strategic approach to his insurance business, where he shifted focus from traditional metrics to providing real value to customers through educational seminars and resources that go beyond insurance. This value-driven approach helped differentiate his company in a competitive market. Steve's commitment to his team and ethical business practices, even post-business sale, reflects his dedication to ensuring the welfare of his employees and maintaining a legacy of integrity and trust. This episode not only explores the nuances of entrepreneurial success but also provides practical advice for personal and professional growth.Join Matt and Steve for this fascinating episode. Enjoy! What You Will Learn In This Show:How excellence isn't about surpassing others but measuring personal growth over time, understanding and leveraging your unique abilitiesThe true value of networking: building authentic relationships and helping others without expecting something in return, rather than merely exchanging contacts for personal gain.Embracing failures as learning opportunities, fostering resilience, and continuous personal development. The characteristics that often define entrepreneurs, such as a dislike for being employed, the necessity for freedom, and the ability to see and seize opportunities for innovation and leadership. How to differentiate your business in a competitive market by providing additional value beyond the core services, using Steve's approach in the insurance industry as a model. How setting and adhering to clear company values can simplify decision-making processes and contribute to long-term business success.Advice for young entrepreneurs on setting and sharing goals, the importance of mentorship, and why it's vital to understand and align with your core values. And so much more...Resources:Benson Kearley IFGSteve's LinkedIn
Is Israel waiting until after Pesach to deliver its real retaliation against Iran? Both Steve and I had externally shut down at about the 16.30 mark in the second half. Please take note of the topic we were discussing. Evidently, we were too close to ... Please pray for protection. Is mass media finally admitting that Ukraine doesn't stand a chance against Russia? Was it all about phenomenal amounts of US taxpayer funding (to whom?) and the depletion of armament reserves of western nations? Can you feel an uneasiness? Variable Rate done RIGHT with SWAT MAPS: https://swatmaps.com/University of Saskatchewan Precision Agriculture Certificate Program: https://admissions.usask.ca/precision-agriculture.phpI wanted to have a conversation about cutting edge tools and the future of digital agriculture, and I definitely think we succeeded in bringing that to you today. Both Steve and Preston are thinking deeply about the best ways to collect and analyze data, think about variability, and utilize this deeper understanding for real world outcomes on farms. Dr. Preston Sorenson is a research associate in the department of soil science at the University of Saskatchewan. His work focuses on mapping soil properties using a range of data sources, usually from satellite imagery and elevation data. He also works a lot with soil sensor systems, in particular for rapid carbon measurements. And carbon measurement is something we definitely get into today. Dr. Steve Shirtliffe is a professor also at the University of Saskatchewan but in the department of plant sciences. As I mentioned in the opener, he pivoted his career about seven years ago from his focus in agronomy to now working in the area broadly referred to as digital agriculture. His focus is on crop imaging and understanding in-field spatial variability and what causes it. Steve and Preston talk about digital tools, ag data, artificial intelligence, and what the future might hold for precision agriculture.
One of the most interesting ways to accomplish a high-performance below-grade wall is with Precast Concrete panels. Both Steve and Pete have worked on projects using Superior Walls, the leading US manufacturer of these panels. Certainly, it is not the least expensive way to do a foundation, but this system has a ton of advantages: it is completely engineered by the manufacturer, no cast footing is needed, and it can be completed in a day (REGARDLESS of the weather…).Pete's Resource(s):1. I've been reminded of something over the past few months: Stories of hope are all around us, even if we don't hear them.Just last week, I got to speak to my coworker from a former life, Steve Andrews, whose son had a frightening brush with death during the throes of his substance abuse. Both Steve and his son are now living fulfilling lives, and Steve himself has become the caretaker of our men's community, The Woods.Since then, I was also contacted by today's guest, Matt Elliott, a client of mine from my life in the corporate world. Until he got in touch, I hadn't seen or spoken to Matt in five years. I had no idea that he had his own recovery story to share. In this episode, we talk about the traumas Matt put his family through as a young man, the role substances played in his perception of his own value as a human being, how his recovery played out, and what his younger self needed to hear at the time. This National Recovery Month, it's worth pausing to reflect on just how many families we interact with daily who've endured substance use in their families – and how many come out the other side stronger, wiser and more compassionate._________________________________The podcast is now part of a nonprofit called Hopestream Community: www.hopestreamcommunity.orgLearn about The Stream, our private online community for moms, at www.hopestreamcommunity.org/the-stream/Find us on Instagram: @hopestreamcommunityDownload my free e-book, HINDSIGHT: Three Things I Wish I Knew When My Son Was Misusing Drugs: www.brendazane.com/hindsightJoin my email list: www.brendazane.com/email
“Just because of what happened before doesn't mean it's automatically true now”.What do you think of that saying? Would you like to be only remembered by your past especially if it is one that you regret?Unfortunately, many people use our past to make predictions for our future and also as a way to judge our present. This is what I believe happened to Steve Harvey and his wife, Marjorie Harvey. Both Steve and Marjorie have had complicated pasts. They've been in different marriages, and there are allegations and rumors that have been swirling about outside relationships that make it easier for people to believe the recent rumors they've heard. It's important to remember that we shouldn't jump to conclusions about someone based solely on their past.In this episode, we're going to talk about five valuable lessons I believe we can learn from Steve and Marjorie Harvey's recent allegations. We'll also explore what we should consider in our own marriages based on what's happened. This situation serves as a clear example of why it's important not to trust everything we see or read on the internet but also what we need to do for our own marriages. To see the video mentioned, visit www.kingsleygrant.com/youtube and for the Happier Marriage Assessment, visit www.happiermarriagesecrets.com/quiz.Join our supportive community on Facebook at www.facebook.com/connectstrong.Together, let's make marriages happier again! Thanks for listening. In this episode, host Anthony McNeil engaged in a heartfelt conversation with Steve Gould, a 12-year police officer and host of the Things Police See podcast. They discussed the emotional and physical challenges faced by those in law enforcement, as well as the personal growth and reflections that come with the job.Growing up in a small town, Steve was inspired by his father's career in law enforcement, who was a respected figure and helped people when they needed it the most. This sparked Steve's own journey into the field, where he has experienced both the positive aspects and challenges that come with being a police officer. One of the most significant challenges in law enforcement is the physical and mental toll it takes on an individual. Both Steve and Anthony shared their experiences of injuries and the impact they had on their careers. However, despite the downsides, the good aspects of the job have outweighed the bad. Anthony shared how luck brought him into law enforcement, allowing him to better his family's future. Furthermore, they both reflected on the inspirational people they worked with throughout their careers who motivated and pushed them to be better.Another topic of discussion was the debate around martial arts and jujitsu, and their role in developing discipline, leadership, and following. Trying new things and pushing boundaries is essential to both personal and professional growth, and Steve shared his interest in exploring voice-over work as an example.Networking and connecting with others in the law enforcement community are also crucial, as it help humanize police officers and allow for shared experiences and support. Through platforms like the Things Police See podcast, officers can share their stories, ambitions, and motivations, shedding light on the changing landscape of the American dream. In conclusion, this honest and powerful conversation between Anthony McNeil and Steve Gould highlights the importance of personal growth and reflection in law enforcement. Come join Steve Van Tassell (@SteveVT33) and Jay Pounds (@jaypoundsnfl) as they talk Dynasty Owner fantasy football. Both Steve and Jay are excited that training camps have started and there is quite a bit of actual news to discuss. Chris Carson's retirement is the focus because it gives them an opportunity to discuss what to do with his roster spot once Dynasty Owners can drop him and $5,212,500 salary for free. In regular dynasty leagues, you only get to fill his roster spot, but in Dynasty Owner, you can only fill it with a player or players who fit under the salary cap - just like NFL GMs have to do it. They discuss the signing of Julio Jones with Tampa Bay first and Jay wants to know if Steve is any less excited about Russell Gage with Julio on the Buccaneers' roster. They also discuss Kyler Murray's contract and how they are both shocked a starting NFL QBs might not spend at least 4 hours a week studying at home. Jay also has an interesting theory as he connects Kyler's apparently lack of study time to the Cardinals' poor finishes to the season for the past few years. Steve touches on Travis Kelce's contract change and explains why it doesn't affect his Dynasty Owner salary and they also speculate on possible landing spots for Jimmy Garoppolo now that his time in San Francisco is coming to an end. They close out the podcast talking about players who are likely available on the Free Agent Auction in your Dynasty Owner league who you can pick up to replace Chris Carson, or just if you have a couple of million dollars in salary cap room and a roster spot available. Download the podcast and give it a listen! What is Dynasty Owner? Dynasty Owner is a platform designed for playing Dynasty Fantasy Football with a Salary Cap. Dynasty Owner brings reality to Fantasy Sports using actual Player Contracts & Salaries. Dynasty Owner uses real NFL contracts and salaries, so it's just like being a real NFL General Manager.

Dan and Ellen talk with Steve Rosenberg, editor of the Jewish Journal in Massachusetts, and Linda Matchan, who was named associate editor in February. Both Steve and Linda had long and productive careers at The Boston Globe. Steve worked for 15 years as a staff writer and columnist, writing about cities and towns north of Boston. He was also editor of the Jewish Advocate. Linda worked at the Globe for 36 years. During her extensive career, she did a little bit of everything, from investigative reporting to feature writing to spot news. Dan shares a Quick Take on the Uvalde Leader-News, a twice-weekly paper that not only had the difficult task of covering the school shootings that claimed the lives of 21 people but that was also a victim of those shootings. Here's a link to Rachel Monroe's riveting New Yorker story on Uvalde and its aftermath, as well as the emotional remarks by US Senator Amy Klobuchar and others at a memorial in Washington for victims of gun violence. Ellen discusses the ethical dilemma posed by the Online News Association's new "3M Truth in Science Award." (Teresa Carr broke the story in Undark and NiemanLab.) Ellen reached out to longtime science journalist Judy Foreman to get her perspective.

It's no secret that Dan has gotten in deep with wrestling but for the first time ever we are joined by an AEW superstar in this week's episode with our Steve Orlando and Nyla Rose interview about their upcoming one-shot from Marvel Comics GIANT-SIZED X-MEN: THUNDERBIRD 1. Nyla Rose teams up with comics star Steve Orlando and First Nations artist David Cutler to grapple with the ramifications of Thunderbird's recent resurrection on Krakoa. The world John Proudstar has returned to is completely different from the one he once knew. Looking to find refuge in the familiar, Thunderbird seeks out someone from his past at an Apache reservation…and uncovers a horrifying threat to the Indigenous mutant community. Will Thunderbird be able to save his people? Or will his justified rage lead him astray? Steve and Nyla chat about who John Proudstar is after all this time being... well not alive. We dive into the character's costume redesign with artist Dave Cutler. Nyla discusses what is was like being able to bring authentic voices to the characters when typically John has not had a native person writing or designing his character. Both writers talk about how they approached how death has changed John who was a pretty stubborn and brash person. Both Steve and Nyla school Dan on wrestling stories and history. This is one Steve Orlando and Nyla Rose interviews you don't want to miss. Do you know who the Undertaker's manager was? You're going to learn today! Noted Dakenologist Dan McMahon who has a PhD in Daken studies gets to chat with Steve about his approach to the character. We've got a special one this week, the first ever PlayingFTSE awards with categories like, Best Bank, Best Place For Your Emergency Fund and Best Up & Comer! First though, we have a game. Steve W has been looking very hard at Stanley Druckenmiller's 13F and has built a game about his holdings! Its a tough one! Darting onwards we're heading into the first category - Best Savings Account. With this we're thinking specifically about the best place for your emergency fund - there was a clear winner until last month and now it's all up in the air! Next up is Best Bank. Both Steve's are Monzo shareholders so there's a clear winner here....and it isn't Monzo. Having recently incorporated PlayingFTSE into a business we're very much on top of the small business accounts available at the moment, the two Steves breakdown the offerings from the NeoBanks and pick their favourite! So we move onto the ISA's, LISA's and JISA's the Steves pick through each offering discussing merits and opportunities to expand! LISA's is an extremely light category, expect a different winner next year! We finish with the most promising up and comer, this section is dedicated to apps that don't win an award this time but are looking very promising for the future - there's a couple of favourites in the list and we're struggling to pick a winner!
Both Steve and Shep have that friday feeling on this beat migs!

Both Steve and Lucretia get through three different whiskys each in this gala episode, recorded with a live audience on Zoom, celebrating the Biden-Harris administration’s worst week in office yet, though as the noted political analyst Homer Simpson might say, “their worst week—so far.” It took Jimmy Carter three years to hit bottom in the summer of 1979, when even The New Republic declared that he had “packed it in” with his pathetic performance in the “malaise” speech. It’s only taken Biden one year to sink to Carter-levels of incompetence and public disapproval. At least he had a plausible Vice President, even if he was a bit dull (get it—Walter Mondull, as Rush used to call him). Mondale, by the way, considered resigning in July of 1979 he was so distraught at Carter’s collapse. Sadly we have no such hope that our current Vice President might consider the same step. And if that wasn’t enough, we got the Hillary 2024! boomlet. I’m with her, but at this point, what difference does it make? But listen through to the very end where we also highlight our Hero of the Week. (And also a cameo appearance from Billy Madison instead of our usual Madison—as in James.)

Ten years ago today, on 5th October 2011, we lost one of the greatest tech innovators of our time – Steve Jobs. It's almost unfathomable how much impact Steve had on the world and how much his work will empower future generations but as he wished, he most definitely put a ding in the universe and left a wide, gaping hole when he passed. To mark Steve's life, it seemed fitting to talk to someone who knew him well – so today's guest is John Couch, who was both Steve's colleague and friend for many decades.Steve personally recruited John to help him build a “revolutionary computer.” It was 1978, just two years after Apple had started, and thus making John Apple's 54th employee. Soon after, John became Apple's first Vice President of Software and then became General Manager, overseeing the Apple Lisa computer division.Prior to joining this new startup called Apple, John was one of UC Berkeley's first fifty computer science graduates and had a well-paying, secure job working at HP, under the tutelage of its iconic founder, and a hero of Steve Jobs, Bill Hewlett. But as he tells me, there was something about Steve's vision that drew him in and made him leave his job at HP for the exciting yet vastly unknown.Six years later, John left Apple to work in education before becoming the CEO of a biotech company called DoubleTwist. He was then recruited again by Steve Jobs again in 2002 and returned to Apple to take on the newly created role of Vice President of Education – a position he remained in until his recent retirement. In 2018, John co-wrote "Rewiring Education and this year, he published his latest book - “My Life at Apple and The Steve I Knew" which is a book we dig deeper into in this episode. As Steve Wozniak says, “John is one of the most interesting, intelligent, and passionate people I've ever met. Both Steve and I viewed him as an essential part of what made Apple the most innovative company in the world, even as he remained one of our best-kept secrets.” You're listening to the Danielle Newnham podcast where I interview tech founders and innovators to learn the inspiring, human, stories behind the game-changing tech we use every day.And this is my interview with John Couch.

Episode 46 is an episode of firsts: it's the first one where Brett flies solo (Ty was on special assignment), the first with none of the traditional segments, and the first one with two interview subjects. But what interview subjects they are! Both Steve and Brad from the fantastic and long-running podcast Stuck in the 80's stop by to talk video store memories and, of course, Stuck in the 80's. It's unusual, it's different...give it a listen!
In this episode, Ted and Barb welcome Steve Doyle, CEO at Professional Business Coaching, inc., and Brad Herda, a President/CEO of Vision Forward LLC. Both Steve and Brad are fellow podcasters co-hosting a show Blue Collar BS, where they debunk the myth of “we can't find good people”. They talk about differences in communication between different generations in the workspace. According to Steve, there are currently four different generations in the workforce, and each of those generations prefer a different style of communication. There are Boomers, Gen X, Millennials (Gen Y) and Gen Z. The Boomers are the closest to the retirement, while Gen Z are entering the workforce at the moment. When it comes to communication, Boomers prefer face-to-face or telephone communication. On the other side of spectrum we have Gen Z who solve all their problems through text messages and various online communication platforms. Listen to the episode and find out how to set up better communication in your working environment if there are multiple generations involved. In the spirit of podcast variety and keeping our brains from melting out of our skulls, we've temporarily banned films from Amazon Prime Video. Both Steve and Miros found refuge in trash cinema from Tubi, a free streaming service that breaks up your film-watching experience commercials so you can take a moment to think about the choices you've made. This week, Steve chose Sex Pot (2009), a self-proclaimed comedy and our first film from the legendary film distributor, The Asylum. I have the pleasure of hanging out with the "Auto Lead King" of Canada, Steven Scott, and his video production manager, YouTube Whizz Kid Ethan Ashley. Both Steve and Ethan are top 1% performers and in addition to recording them at work I asked them the 2 questions I am trying to answer with this series of lectures: 1) Does Self Help work? 2) How can the average Joe or Jane employ the power of Self Help in order to become successful?
This episode was recorded last week, before George Floyd was killed and before the protests began. Then Matt Esser explains why he boofed it on America Ninja Warrior, what are his favorite Phoenix memories, and how Steve can handle his ant problem.

After 121 episodes with Steve, JP and Ryan as the primary hosts of Milwaukee's Tailgate, the time has come for some changes. Both Steve and JP have decided to step away from the weekly grind and will no longer be regular members of the podcast. This week's episode is a goodbye to that era, but also features discussions about the slow holiday weeks, how the third base and bullpen situations might still change, and of course, a few arguments and laughs. After some initial hesitation to continue on without them, Ryan decided to reach out to a few people to team up to carry on. That team came together so quickly and seamlessly that going forward became a no-brainer of a decision. So, while this will be the last episode with the original cast, this will not be the final episode of Milwaukee's Tailgate. The new group joining Ryan are all familiar Brewers online presences as well as veterans of MKE Tailgate. Jaymes L. has been writing on the Brewers at various websites for over a decade and will take over in Steve's role as host. Paul Noonan, the host of our sister Packers pod, Reporting as Eligible, will take on a full time role after being Tailgate 1.0's most frequent guest. Finally, Brad Ford will be taking over for JP on the Minor League Extra and, from time to time, on the regular podcast as well. So join our new group next week on Milwaukee's Tailgate podcast. James encourages us, in the first chapter of his letter, to consider it joy when we encounter various trials. But is that really possible? In this episode, hosted by Steve Smith, Lucinda (Steve’s wife) joins us again to consider this question. Both Steve and Lucinda reflect on how their own faith has benefited from testing in the past. They both look at how ‘with the problem comes the provision’. Most often, the ‘provision’ is God Himself! If you haven’t already done so, please download our 'Live From Rest' app (see www.livefromerest.com), We have written a new meditation in the ‘specials’ section, entitled ‘Joy in trials’. This is available now in the Apple version of the app, and should appear very soon on the Android version. We trust you will find this helpful.
Terry Story joined us once more for our weekly round-up of everything related to the real estate market. The section began with a talk about rising water levels and how these have been impacting on real estate prices in some parts of the country. Terry noted that the biggest falls have been Ocean City, New Jersey, followed by Miami Beach. She commented that it’s not a massive problem, but nonetheless, one that has impacted on the housing market. Rules and Regulations A listener sent in an interesting question regarding dogs, having seemingly agreed to all regulations regarding his pet dog, but then later having been told that it wasn’t allowed due to its size. Terry observed that this is a frequent problem, with new legislation and documents being drawn up all of the time in the housing industry. Both Steve and Terry agreed that this is where a good realtor can come in handy, and also emphasized that buyers should try to get hold of all documents related to a property and make this a priority. Rob talks to Steve Poulton, Founder of Altus Strategies PLC, which is listed on the London & Toronto Stock Exchange. Altus are a project and royalty generator in the mining sector with a focus on Africa who create value by making mineral discoveries across multiple licences. In this episode we talk about the importance of mentoring and networking in furthering your career and what Altus Strategies are achieving in the exploration and geology space. KEY TAKEAWAYS Steve employed a natural entrepreneurial mindset to take advantage of the lack of competition in the sector, and carve out a collection of new companies, including Ariana, and ultimately Altus, having gleaned a number of skills and a thirst for business from his brief, yet intense career thus far. Steve was not interested in a career spent working for someone else. He wanted to see what he could personally achieve in his working life,m with the aim of reaping as many benefits for himself as he could. Mentoring is very important in the Altus environment. By helping his team to be the best that they can be, not only does it improve the strength of his company, but also of the mining industry as aa whole. Steve is happy to know that he is contributing to the future of the industry. Both Steve and Rob stress the importance of networking as part of your mining career. Knowing the right people, mixing with those with more experience, and learning from the mistakes of those who walked the path before you, is a vital component of your growth and development in the mining industry. Steve chose to focus on Africa because of the “prospectivity", the ease of finding materials to mine, and also because of the simplicity of obtaining the right licences from the government. Africa is unexplored and has rich potential for geological discovery. Technological advances are causing huge shifts in the mining industry. Some mines are now fully automated, and leaps in tech can lead to a wealth of untapped discoveries. But the industry will always need people. Altus’s business model is primarily generative exploration, exploring the geology of Africa, looking for areas that are perhaps less fashionable than others, applying for licences based on having undertaken deep remote sensing study on a region or area. Steve is devoted to mining because of the variety of the job, the fact that no two days are ever the same, plus it offers a wealth of challenges and rewards that Steve finds personally intoxicating. Altus’s responsibilities to its shareholders will always be of paramount importance to Steve. The drive to ensure that his investor’s capital is always on the increase spurs him on each day to achieve more, and to make Altus as successful as possible. Mining is an industry in which you get out what you put in. Steve stresses the fact that you need to work as hard as you possibly can. Keep going and you’ll be successful in the end. Take on all the challenges you can and look for the bright spots. Make your mining career as enjoyable as possible. BEST MOMENTS ‘I always had an ambition to work for myself’ ‘Everyone has setbacks and challenges. But a little bit of luck doesn’t go amiss’ ‘Having a strong network is one of the greatest strengths you can have in the mining sector’ ‘We’re focussed on Africa because you can find things there very quickly’ ‘It’s only a matter of time before the market wakes up to the opportunity in mining’ ‘There are hurdles in the process, but the prize is fantastic if you’re able to achieve it’ ‘The key to success is to wake early, work hard and strike oil’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Dig Deep – The Mining Podcast on iTunes Altus Strategies info@altus-strategies.com Steve Poulton - LinkedIn ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is an established recruiter in the mining and quarrying sector and decided to produce the “Dig Deep” The Mining Podcast to provide valuable and informative content around the mining industry. “Agents tend to have many options available when it comes to choosing a real estate brokerage that is a fit for them, so it is important to invest in and grow the culture at your brokerage in addition to offering support and education.” – Forbes Real Estate Council (https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesrealestatecouncil/2019/06/14/six-ways-to-build-culture-at-your-real-estate-brokerage/#12b551ff606a) Steve is the founder of Stunning Homes Realty; starting his real estate brokerage because he wants to provide consistent, high-quality service to all of its clients. DSOs – Dental Support Organizations. Some love ‘em. Some hate ‘em. Some just don't know what they think. No matter what your thoughts, without DSOs in dentistry, where would all the dental grads go to get real world jobs? Over 6,000 dental grads this year alone. 51% of them women. Simple, rather obvious questions for you Where are they supposed to work? How are they supposed to open a practice with a half-million in debt? From experience, I can tell you, most solo practices are NOT set up to absorb a single new dentist. Why? Too many struggle to support the dentist that owns them now! (If that's you at the moment – you're not alone and there is a way to solve your challenge – don't despair. Reach out for help!) In a recorded conversation with my friend Steve Parker, the owner of The Profitable Dentist, we discussed this and a few other topics in The State of Dentistry® 2019, at length. Both Steve and I are pro solo practice/independent dentist. But, I'm also not an anti-DSO kind of guy, either. I believe there are market forces at work that are far stronger than anything you or I can sway. So, you have a choice: Embrace the changes (Look, most of the changes in dentistry are incredibly positive!) or fight tooth and nail to maintain your status quo. (I'm not a fan of lack of progress or “regressiveness” in most areas, but I AM cautionary of ALL progress – doesn't mean it's good, right?) Catch my podcast with Steve, here. When it comes to the Christmas Flop, there's not too many floppier than 2006's Deck the Halls. I could be the groan-inducing jokes, the two one-time (and future) A-listers with their careers on the skids, or the really cliche and played plot. But mostly it's just that you hate the characters and want them to explode in a ball of fire. Both of these men are horrible people. Which works great in a forum like Always Sunny but not so much in the yearly family outing at the movie theater with the cousins from Des Moines. Both Steve and Buddy are completely unlikable from the start - frame 1. You can't do that. When you have this plot (Dads take things too far!) you need at least your protagonist to be both likable and identifiable so that when the dads shake hands and treat each other with respect at the end, you have a location to return your character to with the viewer. This doesn't have it. Steve's a dick at the beginning and middle and end. Aside from your disgust with the two people you have to watch for the next hour and half, the gags are awful and the jokes are poorly presented and delivered. Nothing is funny (aside from one unintentional laugh brought to you by a different movie playing in one scene). So there's nothing good here guys. Steer clear.

Steve O’Dell and Robbie Page are the co-founders of Tenzo Tea. They run a matcha tea company based in Santa Monica, CA. Tenzo Matcha Green Tea is grown in Kagoshima, Japan. Their products can be found at various coffee shops and smoothie facilities all over California and online at tenzotea.co and not on Amazon. [9:30] Steve talks about some early business ventures. [13:50] Where did the idea of Tenzo Tea come from? [16:30] Steve opens up about dropping out of college and his study habits. [21:10] Key leaders and thinkers entrepreneurs should study. [24:50] Preparing for success. [29:20] Recovering from mistakes. [31:30] Discovering Matcha Tea and coming up with the idea of Tenzo Tea. [37:00] Why did the guys decide not to sell their product on Amazon? [38:30] How did the packaging process go? [40:30] The value of connecting with customers directly and using wholesale. [46:30] Making the transition from professional sports to the business world. [50:00] How did the guys connect with Azriel Ratz? [52:30] Closing the information gap about Matcha Tea. [55:30] What are some common uses of Matcha Tea? [57:00] What are the future plans of Tenzo Tea? [59:20] Low points faced along the way. [1:04:50] High points that came with business growth. In this episode… What does it take to perform at the highest level in sports and business? Do you need the right information and training? What role do your diet and your daily habits play in your chances for sustained success? On this episode of Inspired Insider, you’ll hear from high performing athletes and business leaders, Steve O’Dell and Robbie Page. In their conversation with Jeremy, Steve and Robbie open up about how they first met, what they learned from their time playing professional volleyball, how they came up with the idea to start Tenzo Tea, challenges they’ve faced along the way, and so much more! You don’t want to miss a minute of this engaging episode featuring Steve and Robbie! Have you ever performed at the top of your field? What was that experience like? How did you get to that level of competition? For many business leaders, getting to the top is a frustrating and winding road, then there are those who make it look really easy. Steve and Robbie are accustomed to performing in high stakes situations. Both Steve and Robbie played volleyball in college at UCLA, competing at the highest levels. They’ve taken that same dedication and competition to their roles co-founding and leading, Tenzo Tea. What can you learn from Steve and Robbie’s story? Do you have a system that sets you up for success? How has your system changed and evolved over the years in your career and personal life? Coming from a sports background, Steve and Robbie had ritual and routine built into their days from an early age. Now, instead of turning all that planning and preparation to get their body in shape, they are working on getting the competitive edge over their peers. While the guys will be the first to tell you that Tenzo Tea will help you start the day off right, they also do what they can to learn from other leaders, devouring books on leadership and innovation. Did you know that fueling your body with the right ingredients is half the battle when it comes to maintaining high performance? It’s true! Too often the average person will get into a health kick and decide to start working out (which is great!) but they’ll fail to go, “All in” and change their diet. Steve and Robbie want to help men and women start the day off right by putting a clean and natural source of nutrients in the form of a hot cup of matcha green tea. At Tenzo Tea, they say that Matcha green tea is the healthiest drink on the planet, described as a fat-burner and cancer-fighter, Matcha dominates the rest of the world of tea. One of the best ways to stand out from the rest of the competition in the business world is to build a robust and enthusiastic fan base. Its true, some products lend themselves to this business practice better than others, however, many companies are leaving money on the floor by taking a passive approach to customer engagement. Tenzo Tea is taking a much more direct and aggressive approach to cultivating and encouraging their fans to stay connected. They’ve gone so far as creating specialized subscription services, starter boxes, and even an informative blog! Steve and Robbie are really doing an amazing job connecting with their customer base in a meaningful way and the market is rewarding them for it! "Marriages don't work when one partner is happy and the other is miserable. Marriage is about both people being equally miserable." In this season finale episode of N2M we get down to brass tax and talk about the musician and the marriage of a musician. This week I have some really special guests and people who know much more about marriage than I do. First up we have Steve and Jill Grossman. Both Steve and Jill are musicians, authors, and have a marriage counseling ministry. They have been married for almost 30 years and as they say most of them happily. They have 2 grown children. My next guest is a Marriage Counselor and Author and most importantly my wife Summer. We have 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. We all have an honest and open chat about the unique challenges of being married and a musician from the lack of steady income, to the travel and family adjustments, the emotional roller coaster that being married to a creative is, and even the groupie issue. So sit back, buckle up and adjust the rearview, we’ve been down this road befor…remember normal is just an exit a few miles back on this weeks episode of Nashville to Memphis. Now that Steve and I have finally figured women out go check out Steve’s work at www.stevegrossmanonline.com and Jill at www.jillgrossman.com AND also be on the look out for my wife Summer’s new book “I AM” out worldwide from all the outlets that outlet. That is a wrap on the first season of Nashville to Memphis. Thank you to all the guests and listeners and supporters. Next season will be out soon. Opening Quote from Forget Paris. Both Steve and Julia are on the show this week to talk about where the idea came from and what some of their favorite pieces of art are on the Jiffy Lube buildings. So the next time you drive by a Jiffy Lube, look at the beautiful art on the side of their buildings! Attitude and confidence - sometimes against all odds - have been the keys to the success of my guest this week. Steve Sims worked his way up from very humble beginnings to become an expert marketer in the luxury space and the founder of Blue Fish, a high-end personal concierge firm. Steve says there's no such thing as failure - just lessons about what not to do next time and inspiration to move forward. Words any entrepreneur should live by. He's also come up with a way to make just about anything happen - even a wedding at the Vatican - by kicking difficult projects off their “pedestal” so he can see the steps necessary to make it work. Listen to the conversation to find out… A way to ask questions that are impossible to say “no” to (and make people happy to help you fulfill your vision) How to demystify big, “scary” tasks or goals Why you need to fire the “vampires” in your personal and professional circle right now Practical ways to nurture the most productive relationships in your life How pruning so-so or “bad” clients makes room for better ones Listen now… Timeline 00:11 Steve introduces Steve Sims, the founder of Blue Fish, a top concierge service provider. He's a man who knows how to get things! 01:51 Steve Sims starts by telling us about his rise from a bricklayer in England, to Hong Kong to being an A-list fixer. 06:36 Steve Sims explains how he became Unstoppable partly down to his father's view that there is no such thing as failure, it's just feedback on what not to do. 08:50 Steve Gordon talks about how being an entrepreneur is like always living on the edge. 10:24 Steve Sims explains his thought process on how to pull off a wedding in the Vatican- he simply starts with a phone call. 18:50Steve Sims tells us about what he's most excited about, including his other company and upcoming book. 22:19 Steve Sims tells us how to improve the people in your network. Get rid of them! 25:12 Steve Sims explains why and how best to rid bad people from your network. 26:48 Steve Gordon talks about having to “prune” his own clients and even friends. 29:08 Both Steve's explain how telling clients that you have released other clients improves their relationship with you. 31:31 Steve Sims tells us how best to get in contact with him. In episode 64 we interviewed Patrick Thomas, the program manager for the MCP program which includes certifications. There continues to be quite a bit of discussion around certifications, so it only makes sense that we give our take on the matter. Both Steve and I are certified, so this may give away some of our thoughts. Certification is a tricky thing. Much of the value you get out of a certification is dependent on where you on in your career and what your next step is going to be. This is going to be different for every person, so this decision is one that only you can make. This can make a decision on which certification to get and even when to get it a challenge. Our conversation really revolves around what a certification will get you and what it won't help you with. Do you agree with our list? Let us know!
This week we introduce a brand new feature segment to the podcast: Retro Retrospective! Both Steve and Jarman pick one of their favorite movies that the other has not seen, and then they join up on the podcast to review them with each other. In future iterations of this segment they will surely not agree on why each movie should be a favorite, but this time around, they do! For this episode we review one of Steve's favorites, The Dark Crystal, from the genius mind of Jim Henson; and for one of Jarman's favorites, we review Zero Charisma, a film all about a misfit who runs some serious games of Dungeons and Dragons. Let us know what you think of the new segment! For Nerdy News Steve tells us of 99 million year old ants and why human babies are so useless, and Jarman regales us with news of possible Captain Marvel casting in the MCU and how Elon Musk thinks we are definitely living in a computer simulation. For Trailer Reviews we have the new and improved Star Trek Beyond trailer and the Mark Strong lonesome in space flick, Exploring the Unknown. Steve Agee stops by the IAH podcast table and reunites with Zach after a 21 year gap! The great comedian and Zach went to music school together at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood over 20 years ago. Both Steve and Zach were fledgling bass students at the time and then lost touch after school ended. This podcast is what happened after not seeing each other for over 20 years. We covered everything from health, hypochondria, death and the creative process and....junk food...oh, and Scientology. @steveagee Steves Podcast: http://www.feralaudio.com/show/steve-agee-uhhh/ This episode is also brought to you by The Joy Effect: http://www.thejoyeffect.xyz The IAH Book Contest: http://itsallhappeningshow.com/index.php/book/
Steve De La Torre stopped by my podcast and gave great advice on connecting with your ideal client. Rather than going after the same general market that everyone else does, he explained the future of niche markets. You should focus on a niche market like a laser and become a leading authority. Your ideal customer is looking to find someone just like you! Here’s how you set the table and lead them to your specialized (and higher priced!) services. 1) Become a niche authority There is no limit to the number of niche industries that are out there. So find them! Don’t get caught up in the rat race of chasing the general market. With so much of the same kinds of gyms, studios and bootcamps offering the exact same services, you’ll quickly stand out by offering a specialized niche program. Position yourself as the de facto expert on this market. Align your programs to your interests and expertise. Be as specific as you can and you’ll be well-positioned in no time. And remember, the amount of money you can now charge is directly proportional to how specific and unique your programs are! 2) Become an expert on them Once you’ve settled on a niche market, you have to anticipate all the concerns that will come from customers in that market. In essence, you have to become an expert on people that you haven’t met yet. How is that possible? It requires a little thinking on your part. What are the challenges and obstacles that the people in your niche market face? How will you address them? That ability to foresee the concerns and solutions of your clients will make you seem like a mindreader, but it’s all in the service of becoming an expert. In addition to that, publishing articles in places like Forbes, LinkedIn and Huffington Post are great places to boost your profile. But make sure you’re posting in places that your tribe frequents. Don’t waste time, money or energy convincing people outside of your market about things they’ll never use. 3) Go deeper Don’t push generic phrases like “lose weight” or “get fit”. Be specific in your messaging and go deeper. Make a list of ten things that your clients will need, and come up with three to five sub-topics off of that original list of ten. Whenever you find yourself at the limit of what can happen, go deeper! Smaller concise content will go farther than larger pieces that people won’t read anyway. Pack your content calendar with this and your clients will truly see what an expert you are! Both Steve and I agree that niche markets are the future and have a tremendous upside on what you can charge them. Your standing and expertise are waiting to be enhanced within your tribe, so get to it!
All the Rabbis have been wrong for 2,000 years. The Math of Christ uses the fundamental tenets of science to prove conclusively that Jesus Christ fulfilled the prophecies about the coming Messiah for all people. Predictions written centuries before the birth of Christ describe how man can identify the only valid offer of salvation and eternal life for all mankind. True Christians already possess sufficient faith in Christ as the Messiah. This book is written for those technical people and children whose faith may be challenged by science taught in public schools. The Math of Christ will show you how the odds of forty prophecies about the Messiah could not possibly have happened by accident, but rather had to have been the result of a purposeful design. The Father of Mathematical Probability, Dr. Emil Borel confirms that these events were no grand coincidence. Readers will also discover how many other prophecies in the Bible have already come true, how the Bible is full of science knowledge revealed centuries before man actually discovered these facts, how the Earth was made specifically for man to live in and how life would be impossible if very minor changes were made in its existence. Every Christian will want to read The Math of Christ to strengthen their own faith. They will also want a copy for every person they have tried to witness to and reach. Hello and welcome to the 150th episode of the Failed Critics podcast! It seems almost unbelievable that we've made it this far, but somehow we have. Both Steve and Owen would like to extend their thanks to each of you who have ever downloaded our podcast and are eternally grateful for your support. To celebrate reaching this milestone, we've got a new logo, a new theme tune and as a one off treat, we've got an extra long triple-triple bill podcast to share with you. And believe me when I say that it's an extra long episode. Almost five hours long, to be precise.

A week that saw us lose our most talented player and then win the Trofeo TIM left Milan fans in a bit of shock and awe. With a mere seven days left in the mercato we are now at the mercy of Galliani and his ability to shake down other clubs for their players on loans and free transfers. But with another epic fail from management, the livers of Milan fans worldwide are suffering as if the season was well underway. And yet there is still a strange kind of anticipation as the season kicks off next week which makes our stomachs alternate between the nervous butterflies of the possibilities and the nausea of having been reamed once again by management. One thing is for sure, Balotelli has left Milanello, along with a lot of hopes and dreams. I was joined this week by the guys from my favorite weekly Serie A review show, Red Card Weekly. Both Steve and Vinny are passionate Milan fans who love calcio and both took the time to share their opinions and humor about Milan with us in this episode. We discussed: • News of the Week: Ice Bucket Challenge, FIGC rule change • Match Reviews: Trofeo Naranja:Valencia 2, Milan 1, and Trofeo TIM tournament 2014: Milan are Champions! • Match Preview: Serie A Week 1: Milan vs. Lazio Sun. In this two part episode, we talk with Steve Poggi, a comic who started out in St. Louis 9 years ago and now lives in San Francisco. In Part A, Steve's mom Karen discusses her history with Tarot cards and using meditation to overcome mental illness and loss. Both Steve and Karen share stories about spiritual encounters. Amy and Jeremy both have their cards read, which is only about 80% as awkward as it sounds. It's a pretty interesting hour.
The guys answer a few email questions. Both Steve and Dave read some crazy news stories from the week. Steve and Dave show up to the C2E2 convention and refuse to pay Jake "The Snake" Roberts for an autograph or an interview. BIG MISTAKE Nic asks the guys some of his famous YES or NO questions Some great hypotheticals come up on the fly
