This episode of the Privilege Eruption podcast discusses the evolution of breakthrough thinking around power, privilege, and purpose in the workplace. It highlights the challenges faced by women in the construction industry, with historical context and recent statistics showing progress towards gender parity. The episode aims to inspire leaders to create a culture of inclusion and belonging for all employees. KEY TAKEAWAYS The construction industry has historically struggled with gender balance, but progress is being made towards achieving equal representation. Setting bold goals and having genuine leadership support are crucial for driving systemic change towards diversity and inclusion. Creating a culture of collaboration and inclusivity requires not only focusing on individual women but also on transforming the entire organisational ecosystem. Having sponsors who advocate for and support women's career growth is essential for achieving gender balance in leadership roles. Sudarshan and Shweta are key leadership figures in Bal Raksha Bharat (also known as Save the Children India). Sudarshan is CEO and Shweta is Head of Governance & Organisation Development. In this podcast, they generously share their thoughts and experiences. Their approach is inspiring and enlightening, and it aligns closely to the Eco-Leadership Institute approach. They focus on shifting power from the centre to the edges. Their humanitarian work aims to create capacity, but not only through raising funds from external resources. They see the recipients of the aid they provide as key to creating capacity, as the children and citizens they support are full of potential that they aim to resource. They also look for long term solutions and focus on moving away from crisis reactions, and reliance on external funding, to build sustainable capacity through civic and state collaboration. They discuss some of their pioneering approaches to humanitarian aid and development and what is striking is the emphasis on deep caring and a holistic approach. Sudarshan and Shweta have to constantly adapt to the fast changing landscape. Key to their work is what we call LEDGE approaches - leadership from the edge, and they focus on bringing people from the edge to make their contribution heard and relevant. Whilst they face many challenges, they see their ecosystems are filled with resources. At the heart of their work is hope, fuelled by a collaborative and generous mindset. Sudarshan is a strong advocate of developing a learning culture in the workplace. He shares insights from Bal Raksha Bharat's most recent annual ‘Knowledge & Learning Exchange Week' which focussed on ‘failing intelligently'; to remove any blame culture and learn from both the successful and unsuccessful initiatives. India is a place of diversity and challenges for them, but from this podcast you can feel the power of their hope and the energy they have to create a good society. Bios: Sudarshan Suchi is the Chief Executive Officer of Bal Raksha Bharat (also known as Save the Children India). As a staunch believer in participatory processes, Sudarshan believes in co-creation and inclusion of all voices within design and action. Passionate about building self-reliance and creating livelihood opportunities, he has himself dabbled in creating and promoting eco-friendly farming practices. Although he graduated in Philosophy, Law and completed Masters in Participation Power and Social Change, Sudarshan admits that most of his education happened outside the classroom. Over the past three decades, he has held leadership positions with eminent organisations like Reliance Foundation, Reliance Life Sciences, and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). He has also taught at Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) and is part of Academic Council of IIHMR's Rural Management Program. As CEO of BRB, Sudarshan believes in creating a living organisation that is built on its people and their ability to be vulnerable, embrace shortfalls productively and aim towards improvement. His vision is to build and grow the movement for child rights in India, wherein children have a voice and agency, and participate as active citizens of the country. Shweta Malhotra is a seasoned professional with 17 years of dedicated service at Bal Raksha, Bharat (Save the Children India), currently serving as the Head of Governance & Organisation Development. In this role, she adeptly oversees the Board, CEO's office, and plays a pivotal role in enhancing the organization's adaptability in an ever-changing dynamic environment. A true advocate for fostering a human-centric culture, Shweta thrives on meaningful connections with people. Her professional narrative includes a fascinating chapter as a freelance fashion designer, where she successfully ran her own label. Beyond her professional pursuits, she finds joy in travelling with her family and relishes the simple pleasures of snuggling up with a good book and a cup of coffee.

And we are applying that in our masters programme. We were joined by current MA participants, Amy Martin and Priti Colbeck. In this episode Dr Natalie Lancer, with Justin Wise and Dr Michael Marx, explores how some coaches integrate faith-based concepts and secular equivalents, including meaning, intuition and a capacity to respond to life's challenges, into their coaching. We learn how religious values, ethics and practices may inform the work that coaches do with their clients. In this episode, we discuss Christian and Jewish orientations as examples of coaching with faith-based principles. We ask: What is coaching in faith? What if the client is secular or a different religion to the coach? Which religious concepts or secular equivalents, frequently show up in a coaching conversation? Which specific practices drawn from a religious life could be of value in coaching? How can coaching from a faith perspective allow the coachee to develop other stories and perspectives about themselves? How can faith-based thinking help us transcend normative problem-solving in coaching sessions? What can coaching in faith teach us about meaningful ways of living? How can thinking from a faith-based approach towards relationships and communities serve us better? What alternative conceptualisations of life and human beings does religion provide? How can coaching in faith help us recognise our inherent complexity? Coaching in faith is an often over-looked and rarely acknowledged topic and can offer alternative ways of thinking about common coaching issues. Our guests help us to begin to unpack this potential and explore the possibilities of coaching in faith. Our guests today are: Justin Wise is a coach, educator, founder and faculty member at Thirdspace. He is a graduate of the MSc in People and Organisation Development at the Roffey Park Institute, UK and holds first-class postgraduate degrees from both Cambridge University and University College London. He has been an accredited Integral Development Coach (New Ventures West / Thirdspace) since 2008 and holds the PCC Credential from the International Coaching Federation. Justin views coaching and organisational development as vital disciplines in the creation of sustainable, ethical communities, organisations and societies. Michael J. Marx, MBA, EdD, MCC, CMCC, is an ICF Master Certified Coach specialising in business coaching and corporate consultation. He is a past-president of Christian Coaches Network International and the author of the book Ethics and Risk Management for Christian Coaches (2016). On the release of the third edition, Mee-Yan and Linda join us to talk about the big changes happening in the world of work. They talk about power, politics and the courage needed to make a difference when the scale and intensity of change continues to increase.
For many, the current approach to designing and implementing leadership and management development programmes isn't quite hitting the mark.Over the last 10 years Mayvin has delivered programmes across the private, public and third sectors. We have learnt a lot about how to design programmes that work receiving feedback such as:"the best learning I have attended in my whole career""had a huge impact on both my professional and personal life""I cannot express how I much I have enjoyed this programme and how much impact is has had on me""made a tremendous difference to how I work and how I feel about work"We also know how to get them accredited at Post Graduate levels, culminating in our recently launched Masters in People and Organisation Development. So we hosted an online community event where we posed the question: What is the difference that makes the difference in programme design? At the event, we shared our experiences in designing and delivering what our participants call life changing and hugely impactful programmes. We also opened it up to group inquiry, asking everyone in the room what their experiences were for the good and for the bad. It was a really rich discussion and we have turned it into a Podcast episode for you to listen to.Thanks so much for listening! In a couple of months time Mayvin is starting it's new MA in People and Organisation Development Programme, which by now you probably know we are very excited about. It will give participants a post-graduate certificate after year 1 and the opportunity to take it all the way to a full MA after year 3.Programme Director James Traeger and Year 1 Lead Carolyn Norgate have been hosting online open days and having one to one chats with prospective participants for about six months now. So we decided to lock them in a room and asked them to talk through the most frequently asked questions and topics of conversation that have come up so far.So if you're interested, but haven't been able to make any of the open days yet, or perhaps aren't feeling brave enough to get in touch with us yet, or maybe a little bit curious as to what we're up to, this podcast is for you.In the chat James and Carolyn cover: How and why the programme started.Who the programme is for.The synergies of it being an MA.That it's an inquiry based programme with action research at the heart. The reasons for doing a masters, such as professional recognition and the kudos in gaining a qualification, as well as the usefulness of the skills acquired. The paradigm of this programme is that it's about the process itself. The future of organisations or the future of organising module. And what this might mean in a potentially hopefully, post pandemic world with Gen Z employees. They go on to cover the practicalities of the programme, so that you can enter or exit at different levels, the certificate, the diploma and the dissertation. The fact that the MA is a combination of online and face to face activities, and the flexibility of this programme, and that we're keen to develop it in hand with you.Our face to face venue, Lane End.And finally the finance, pricing, bursaries, payment options and so on.So hopefully after listening you'll leave with a clearer sense of the environment we're trying to build here. But if you have any further questions or any queries, please do get in touch with us. Thanks so much for listening! Towards the end of last year we published an animation with a conversation between Carolyn Norgate and Sophie Tidman about what it is that makes us different and special. We've had some lovely feedback about it and so we thought we would share the full conversation in this Podcast Episode.Aside from saying yes to the mess, in this episode Carolyn and Sophie talk about the excitement of offering a Masters, what it is they love about working at Mayvin, the Mayvin approach to leadership training, the wonderful Mayvin community and more. Feedback we received on the animation included:"I love the animation – it is so clever and so Mayvin. Moving towards the mess is brave and that is my experience of Mayvin – the mess does not phase Mayvin! Thanks as always for your support and wise words every time we connect.""Really loved the video – “say yes to the mess” – really resonated with me!! ""Love the ethos. Say yes to the mess and working in the complexity and not fixed state resonated for me."So let's listen to their chat! Thanks so much for listening! The Female Career. Trailblazing New Zealand women share their career journeys
Tricia Alach is originally from West Auckland and has lived and worked in Europe, the UK, and the US before now making her base back home in NZ. She's carved herself a specialist career in Strategic HR, Organisation Development and Talent. She's always had a keen interest in the changing world of work as well as international and expatriate careers. Inspired by the stories she heard, in 2017 she started in her spare time the 'How to Have a Happy Homecoming' blog to tell the stories of a diverse group of Kiwis who have lived abroad and returned to NZ. https://howtohaveahappyhomecoming.wordpress.com/ (https://howtohaveahappyhomecoming.wordpress.com/) "My career advice would be to really follow what interests you. You can't follow someone else's dream. People who try to follow what someone else sees for them in terms of career success are often very unhappy. So follow your interests. Follow your passions. Pay attention to what gets you excited and do that. Don't feel like that it has to look a particular way. I think it's much more important that it feels right to you, then it looks right to somebody else."

Vielleicht das hier: “Start before you ready!” Die ganze Folge 214 mit Steve gibt es, wie immer, auf allen gängigen Podcast Plattformen, wie Spotify oder Apple Podcasts (oder direkt auf otwtnw.de). Employee engagement is a workplace approach designed to ensure that employees are committed to their organisation's goals and values, motivated to contribute to organisational success, and are able at the same time to enhance their own sense of wellbeing. What are the 3 key factors that are always present in culture change projects that fail How to overcome objections your stakeholders might have to undertaking culture work What are the signs of readiness for culture transformation How to enable the discipline that’s necessary to successfully implement the culture change agenda What’s the number 1 reason that senior leaders stay away from pursuing culture work Why it’s important to have a trusted guide when undertaking a culture change journey Why your common frustrations might not be due to the difference in values but a difference in beliefs Why sometimes it’s better not to call it “culture work” What are the signs that it might be time to look for a new job Why experimentation is great but only if you learn the basics first About our guest Tim Kuppler is the Director of Culture and Organization Development with Human Synergistics, a 40-plus-year pioneer in the field of workplace culture and leadership.
