Ever feel like your health is treated as a checklist of symptoms rather than a complete picture? In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Erica Matluck to explore what it really means to heal the whole person – body, mind, heart, and spirit. Dr. Matluck shares her Four Quadrants model of health and explains why true wellness means looking beyond the physical. We discuss how ancient wisdom (like Ayurveda's focus on balance) meets modern life, and why your consciousness and spiritual well-being are just as crucial as your diet and exercise. (Spoiler: even hardcore materialists have their own “beliefs” they might not realize.) Dr. Matluck also reveals the often-overlooked power of community and human connection in healing. She guides us through ways to regulate our nervous systems and truly embody wellness, so we're not just thinking about health – we're feeling it. We even dive into the impact of technology on our attention and well-being, and how to find balance in a hyper-connected world. Topics Covered The Four Quadrants of Health – Understanding Dr. Matluck's holistic model addressing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being (and why each one matters). Ayurvedic Balance – How ancient Ayurveda influences Dr. Matluck's view on finding balance in our bodies and minds, and what we can learn from this time-tested approach. Consciousness & Spirituality – The role of meaning, purpose, and spiritual well-being in healing, and why spirituality isn't as “silly” or “woo-woo” as skeptics might think (hint: materialism is a belief system, too!). Connection & Community – Why healing isn't a solo journey. We talk about the importance of connection, community support, and relationships in achieving and maintaining health. Nervous System & Embodiment – Tips on regulating your nervous system and practicing embodiment, so you can calm stress responses and fully inhabit your body for deeper healing. Tech & Well-Being – The impact of our tech-driven lifestyles on attention and mental health. Dr. Matluck offers insight on navigating smartphones and social media mindfully to protect your well-being. About Dr. Erica Matluck Dr. Erica Matluck is a licensed naturopathic doctor and nurse practitioner with training in Reiki energy healing, yoga, and massage therapy, bringing over two decades of experience bridging Western medicine with ancient wisdom. In this episode, I share my "Bulls Eye Method". Designed to improve the success rate of marketing campaigns, product launches, and business initiatives. The method emphasizes the importance of embracing failure as a natural part of the process, recognizing that most attempts—whether it's an ad, a landing page, or a new product—are likely to fail. By understanding this, entrepreneurs can shift their focus to testing multiple ideas quickly and efficiently, rather than investing excessive time and resources into a single unproven concept. The goal is to identify the few winners among many attempts and then double down on those successful strategies.By applying the Bulls Eye Method across different aspects of their business, from marketing to product development, entrepreneurs can increase their chances of success by rapidly iterating and refining their ideas. The overall message is to embrace speed, testing, and adaptability to achieve better results in business.CHAPTERS0:55 - The Internal Process and Belief System1:11 - The Four Quadrants of Success1:32 - Embracing Failure in Marketing2:13 - Higher Success with Warm Audiences2:52 - Avoiding Skewed Data from Close Followers3:04 - Changing Your Approach to Work3:41 - The Risks of Long Development Cycles4:19 - The Reality of Failure in Marketing4:51 - Angel Investing Analogy6:04 - Don't Go All-In on the First Idea7:46 - The Bulls Eye Method Explained9:10 - Testing Multiple Versions for Success10:59 - Importance of Minimum Viable Product12:31 - Scaling with Speed and Efficiency13:31 - Examples of MVPs in Business14:01 - Continuous Innovation in Successful Projects14:43 - The Importance of Rapid ImplementationConnect with Rudy Mawer:LinkedInInstagramFacebookTwitter

Trevor Farnes founded MTN OPS, a self-described outdoor performance supplements company. You may ask why you would listen to a chat about another company in this crowded space, but you will quickly find out that MTN OPS is a very different kind of company. For one, their customers are not anonymous buyers but part of a community that shares experiences and triumphs. Interestingly, MTN OPS focuses on the hunting community, but their products are also extremely well-suited for any endurance athletes. It makes sense when you think about it, because hunters spend long hours and days in the field and require proper fueling. Trevor has also created a unique MTN OPS corporate culture that is based on 12 principles that begin with recognizing God, empowering their employees from what he calls the Four Quadrants of Life, and community service. This latter principle led him to create Operation Conquer Hunger, an organization that has provided six million meals to families in the United States and the African country of Malawi. This project was spurred by Trevor's own life in which his prior business ventures failed and his ability to put food on his family's table was in question. It's an impressive operation that brings people together to assemble meal kits in various communities. What's very cool is that MTN OPS donates a meal for every sale they make. I also like that they are very serious about testing and delivering on their formulations, especially in the wake of recent reports about a prominent company in this field that was not delivering what was promised on its packaging. This is a very interesting story about the birth of this company, which evolved from when Trevor created a concoction that helped prolong his father's life, to locating in a historic building in a small Utah town where they are literally the only business, to developing this unique culture and community. I hope you enjoy hearing from this engaging, faith-based force in the performance supplements world.Trevor Farnesmtnops.comFacebook and YouTube MTN OPSInstagram and Threads @mtnops and @trevorfarnesBill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram and Threads @stahlor and @coachstahlYouTube We Are Superman Podcast

Keith Martin-Smith explores the potential and pitfalls of integral theory in addressing global challenges. He argues that while integral thinking offers valuable tools for understanding complex systems and human development, it often falls short in practice due to misapplication and ego-driven superiority complexes. Keith proposes a more nuanced approach: treating people as unique individuals, communicating integral ideas more skillfully, and focusing on practical applications rather than theoretical grandstanding. [line] At its best, Integral Theory is a powerful tool and map to help us to better understand ourselves and our world. The AQAL model – all quadrants, lines, levels, states, and types – has helped hundreds, perhaps thousands, better navigate the world with compassion and care, and wisdom and humility. At its worst, integral Theory can lead to what Keith Martin-Smith calls the “insufferable integralist,” or someone who uses the theory to look down on others they deem “less evolved” then they are. Or to create a cognitive tower from which to look down on the world, disembodied and unable to do much of anything but watch. This can create a cult-like “in-group” that can become obsessed with their own development and use the model as a cudgel on others. Today we face a polycrisis or metacrisis – existential-level problems in economics, technology, energy production and access, late-stage capitalism, increasing polarity in almost all Western democracies, and the fracturing of truth. For the first time, the existential challenges facing humankind are entirely created and sustain by us. More and more, we all live in our separate worlds, with our own beliefs, cultures, and good and bad guys. And the world burns, people suffer, and we divide against one another at a time we need to be coming together. Can Integral Theory, applied wisely, do good for the world, and for each of us? How do we hold the model lightly but wisely, and be careful about the traps it can create? Key concepts discussed in this talk will be polarities such as discernment versus judgement, modesty versus surety, compassion versus condemnation. If you've been curious how Integral might help you and the world, but leery of the ways it can seemingly misguide those who know it, this talk may be helpful for you.

Please look out for updates for our next episode release via social media, Patreon and our newsletter. For our main topic, we explore the concept of Jahari's Window which is a visual framework for understanding self-awareness and interpersonal relationships. The window consists of four quadrants: open, blind, hidden, and unknown. In the open area, both individuals are aware of certain traits and behaviors. The blind area represents things that others see in us but we are unaware of. The hidden area contains aspects of ourselves that we keep hidden from others. The unknown area represents untapped abilities and qualities that neither we nor others are aware of. We complete an exercise together. Together we discuss our blind spots and hidden areas in our personal and professional lives. We end the conversation feeling some relief and optimism as we uncover new possibilities for growth and understanding in our future together.Contact Around the Way Curls:Follow us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz6aYqKi7g-kZvFFWaxT2gQ Hotline: (215) 948-2780Discord: https://discord.gg/PjVjBBQuEmail: aroundthewaycurls@gmail.com Patreon: www.patreon.com/aroundthewaycurls for exclusive videos & bonus content01:44 Exploring Jahari's Window05:06 The Four Quadrants of Jahari's Window09:41 The Importance of Self-Disclosure and Trust12:21 Adjectives Associated with Jahari's Window21:46 Revealing Hidden Aspects of Ourselves25:14 Uncovering Hurt and Suspicion27:04 Addressing Resistance and Control31:34 The Power of the Johari Window35:09 Finding Relief and New PossibilitiesSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

When you're aware, you're halfway there. - Wendy Basch Sentenced to sixty-five years in a Texas prison, Damon West once had it all. He came from a great family, in a home full of God, love, support, and opportunities to reach any goal. A natural born leader, an athlete with good looks and charm, he appeared to be the all-American kid pursuing his dreams. Underneath this facade, however, was an addict in the early stages of disease. After suffering childhood sexual abuse by a babysitter at the age of nine, Damon began putting chemicals into his body to alter the way he felt. Once he was introduced to methamphetamines, however, he became instantly hooked—and the lives of so many innocent people would forever be changed by the choices he made in order to feed his insatiable meth habit. After a fateful discussion during his incarceration with a seasoned convict, Damon had a spiritual awakening. He learned that, like a coffee bean changing with the application of heat and pressure, he was capable of changing the environment around him. Armed with a program of recovery, a renewed faith, and a miraculous second chance at life, Damon emerged from over seven years of prison a changed man. His story of redemption continues to inspire audiences today. In this episode, Damon joins us to talk about his two books, The Change Agent and The Coffee Bean which he wrote with Jon Gordon, as well as the life lessons he learned during prison, the three areas of wellness we should exercise every day, and what you can do now if you're recovering or feel lost in your wellness journey. Tune in with Dr. Michelle Robin and Damon West as they discuss: Both of their thoughts on spirituality and how they are able to let go of what they cannot control in order to surrender to a higher power. How fellow Small Changes Big Shifts guest, Jon Gordon, connected with him and persuaded him to write The Coffee Bean. An inside glimpse at the profound story of The Coffee Bean and what you will learn from the book. What healthy mindset strategy he learned to help him during his time in prison and how everyone can apply it to their own lives. The opportunity he took in prison to use that time to work on himself every single day. Why we should withhold from beginning new relationships until we take the time to truly know ourselves. What lessons and new insights he has gained about what it means to be in a committed relationship. Damon's suggestions for what you should today if you're in recovery or feeling lost: Get outside of yourself by thinking about other people before yourself. Adapt a humble mindset. Commit yourself to finding ways to help people every single day. Dive into the three areas of wellness that Damon advises we should work on growing every day that are in sync with our Four Quadrants of Wellbeing: Spiritual Wellness Mental Wellness Physical Wellness Learn and try out Damon's prayer that he starts his day with each morning: “God, put in front of me what you need me to do today for you and let me recognize it when I see it.” All the lessons of history in four sentences: Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad with power. The mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly small. The bee fertilizes the flower it robs. When it is dark enough, you can see the stars. - Charles A. Beard

Atheist Richard Dawkins has said he doesn't believe one word of the Christian faith, but he now considers himself a “cultural Christian” and wants to defend the Christian values of his country against the influence of Islam and immigrants. Does this represent an alignment between the New Atheists and Christian Nationalists? Curtis Chang shares about “The After Party”—the new curriculum he's developed with David French and Russel Moore to help Christians focus on hope and humility rather than partisanship. Also this week, Mark Driscoll gets booted from a men's conference. And another infraction by a Florida man with a Bible. Holy Post Plus Getting Schooled - Mariah W. On today's show, writer/producer Emilio Martinez has a wide-ranging and humorous discussion about cancel culture, comedy, US politics, Christianity and more. GUEST OVERVIEW: Emilio Martinez is a Producer/Writer/Comedian. At least that's what it says on the primary ballot for his Congressional run in California District 30 (currently held by Adam Schiff). Emilio did indeed begin his career performing improv and sketch comedy with the likes of The Groundlings and as a cast member in Bob Odenkirk's one-man stage show. Since then, he worked in various roles in the industry, including producing award-winning commercials, news promotions, and post-production for reality TV and independent films. His favorite moment was discovering the secret to a great plot twist while working as the head of development for a TV film production company that produced thrillers. Meanwhile, Emilio's focus was also drawn to the study of Four Quadrant systems, starting first with his discovery of the Fourth Turning theory of history (developed by the same guys who coined the term “Millennial Generation.”) His travels in searching for a deeper understanding of the patterns in the four quadrants led him to become an expert in narrative structure, including Dramatica, along with a student of Buddhist philosopher Ken Wilber and his Integral Philosophy. After coming to Christ, Emilio was then able to tie it back to the Four Gospels. As a free-speech advocate, Emilio is using his current projects to save comedy from cancel culture —What the Church!, a comedy web series, and #FakeNews Show, an unscripted “sketch-com” based on the Harold, are set to premiere on Loor.TV in January 2024.

Title: Understanding the Johari Window: A Framework for Personal and Interpersonal Growth Introduction: The Johari Window, developed by psychologists Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham in 1955, is a powerful tool for understanding and improving interpersonal communication and relationships. This model provides a framework for individuals to explore and expand their self-awareness, enhance communication with others, and foster personal and professional growth. In this article, we will delve into the concepts behind the Johari Window and discuss why it is essential for personal development and effective communication. The Four Quadrants of the Johari Window: The Johari Window consists of four quadrants, each representing a different aspect of information about an individual: 1. **Open Area (Arena):** - This quadrant contains information known to both the individual and others. - It represents the aspects of personality, behavior, and attitudes that are openly shared and understood by everyone involved. 2. **Blind Spot:** - The Blind Spot holds information known to others but unknown to the individual. - It includes aspects of our personality or behavior that others can see, but we may be unaware of. 3. **Hidden Area (Facade):** - The Hidden Area contains information known to the individual but hidden from others. - It represents thoughts, feelings, and experiences that the individual chooses to keep private or has not yet disclosed. 4. **Unknown Area:** - The Unknown Area represents information unknown to both the individual and others. - It encompasses potential talents, traits, or aspects that have yet to be discovered or revealed. Why Use the Johari Window? 1. **Enhancing Self-Awareness:** - The Johari Window is a powerful tool for self-reflection and self-discovery. By understanding the different quadrants, individuals can identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. 2. **Improving Communication:** - Effective communication is crucial for personal and professional success. The Johari Window encourages open and honest communication by promoting the sharing of information between individuals. It helps reduce misunderstandings and conflicts by increasing awareness of each other's perspectives. 3. **Building Trust and Relationships:** - As individuals expand their open area and reduce the blind spot, trust within relationships can grow. Open and transparent communication fosters deeper connections and understanding between people. 4. **Facilitating Team Development:** - In a team setting, the Johari Window can be a valuable tool for building trust among team members. By creating an environment that encourages open communication, teams can collaborate more effectively and leverage each member's strengths. 5. **Promoting Personal Growth:** - By actively working to expand the open area and decrease the hidden area, individuals can promote personal growth and development. Embracing feedback from others and sharing more about oneself can lead to continuous improvement. Conclusion: The Johari Window is a dynamic and versatile model that empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of self-awareness and interpersonal relationships. By using this framework, individuals can unlock their potential, foster open communication, and build stronger, more meaningful connections with others. Embracing the Johari Window is not just a self-help exercise; it's a pathway to personal and professional success in a world that thrives on effective communication and collaboration. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

By visualizing data, clients can better understand their strengths and areas of improvement.Traffic Light System: Beyond the scoring system, there's a traffic light system (red, amber, green) that helps trainers prioritize areas of focus for their clients. The Importance of Feedback: Continuous feedback and showing progress through numbers can motivate clients, especially when physical changes aren't immediately visible.Websites & Resources Mentioned:Strength MattersQuotes:"Everyone loves closing their Apple fitness rings." - Josh Kennedy"If you can't visualize data, you don't understand it." - James Breese"Everyone wants to try and close their rings or get to 100 percent as best they possibly can." - James Breese"Create some kind of scoring system. 557: The Rise of Christian Nashville-ism & What Christians Must Do with Claude Alexander Why doesn't Congress work? A recent article explains how diversity, education, and geography are driving the political parties apart. These findings also help explain the widening fractures among evangelicals. In the past, evangelicalism was primarily driven by academic institutions in the North, but now it's increasingly fueled by entertainment interests in the South. Phil explains this rise of “Christian Nashville-ism.” Then, Skye talks to Bishop Claude Alexander about his book “Necessary Christianity,” and what he believes to be the most urgent issues facing the church today. Plus, more listener feedback about teen mental health research, how puppies, infants, and Baby Yoda hack our brains, and an unexpected animal attack in Ohio.
