This week I sat down with Paige Goldstein, founder of The Ripple Effect and co-host of Fill Your Sol Podcast, to explore what it means to build a personal brand rooted in self-awareness and authenticity. Paige shares her journey pivoting out of corporate and becoming a digital nomad (it's not always as glamorous as it seems), and offers insights on how to use social media as a tool for connection rather than comparison. We also talk about how consciousness influences how we show up IRL and digitally, what it means to use be an 'authentic storyteller' online, and how Paige defines happiness.

Why the Digital Space Feels Slower and What Wise Founders Do About It before it's too late....But first, grab my ICONIQUE GUIDE HERE!Okay sis, let's talk.Because if it feels like something's off in the online space right now... you're not imagining it.Like — you're showing up, posting the content, doing the work, trying to stay positive and obedient and keep the needle moving... but the engagement is flat, the sales feel softer, and honestly? It's just weird out here. And if you've caught yourself thinking:“Is it just me?”“Did I lose my spark?”“Is this even working anymore?”...I need you to hear this: You're not broken. The space is shifting. In this episode, I'm being super honest about what I've been hearing behind the scenes...From my high-level clientsFrom women in my mastermindFrom voice notes, DMs, IRL convos at events...And the pattern is clear:Even the seasoned, strategic, been-doing-this-for-years women are saying it's slower. We get into:The economy and why your audience is more hesitant — not because they're mean, but because they literally have less margin. The trust gap that's grown from years of marketing over-promising and under-delivering.And the real opportunity that comes when most people back out, but you decide to plant deeper and lead better. This isn't about hustle harder or pretending it's all okay. This is about being honest and smart. This is about NOT SPIRALING!!!So if your content feels like it's falling flat...If you're doing all the right things but it still doesn't feel aligned...If you feel like you're carrying your business solo and questioning whether you're even called to grow it this big...This episode is the mirror moment you didn't know you needed.

Sweater season has arrived for many of us, so let's revisit a favorite episode from last 2023!Dani of Picnicwear joins Amanda to explain why (most) new sweaters are low quality, (near) future garbage (instead of future vintage).  It's a complicated tale of synthetic blends, increasing margin targets, and lower prices.  We'll explain how the fast fashion industry has kept prices low and profits high by swapping out yarns, cutting out details, and making copies of copies, while walking through the design process of most big retailers/brands. We will unpack why it's really difficult to find sweaters made of natural fibers.Amanda will explain how natural fibers aren't the "cure" for the impact of overconsumption. We will give you advice about how to choose the right sweater (hint: read those content labels).Dani will give you advice about how to care for your sweaters properly. We were inspired by Amanda Mull's piece for The Atlantic, Your Sweaters Are Garbage. On "Hot Takes" this week, Crystal Eternal and YUNG SHIRO 白 had a sit-down with influential artist, label owner, and scene builder Brickmason! Friendly, inviting, and bursting with well-tempered takes, we invited Brick to the show to get behind the curtain of not only his own project but his record label and IRL and URL show throwing experiences. Brickmason has been making music far longer than he cares to admit and has enjoyed a noteworthy degree of acclaim for his three part 2023 vaporwave album series "Pokédreams". Not only did he corner the hushwave subset of the vaporwave scene, but his label Hushtones has released several must-hear barber beats, slushwave, vaporbreaks, and vaportrap releases as well. For episode eighty-five, we discussed the working class background behind Brickmason's project name. Brick imparted his thoughts on releasing art by questionable artists, working with visualists like Solodolo84 and the whole WVSQD team, and acts that he likes a lot, like Bentoboy, Mabisyo, and Victory Over Death. Hearing Brickmason tell the stories behind the Beats for a Broken World livestream event with Cassette Cache and Doki Doki Beats was a highlight! Sharing our love of his recent hard copy VHS release of Dreamcastle's "LEGO Castle: 1979-1998" and hearing the story of seeing the album release live was a meaningful moment that also was not to be missed. Don't miss this fun and family-friendly episode with our friend Brickmason! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! Join the conversation at https://linktr.ee/hottakesvapor

What happens to mean girls when they grow up? Some get better at hiding it. Some run companies. And some of us realize we've carried those voices in our own heads. In this episode, I sit down with Erin Gallagher — CEO and founder of Hype Women — who turned one viral post about Jamie Lee Curtis hyping Michelle Yeoh into a global movement. Her new book Hype Women dives head-first into the tangled mess of mean-girl culture, good-girl conditioning, and the patriarchy that benefits from keeping women small.Erin and I get into the psychology of comparison, the lie of “being nice,” and why learning to hype yourself and other women is an act of rebellion. We're unpacking the unspoken rules that keep ambitious women silent, self-critical, and secretly exhausted. You'll walk away seeing jealousy, judgment, and competition through a new lens and start rewiring them for good. What You'll LearnHow Hype Women became a cultural movement (and what Jamie Lee Curtis had to do with it)The difference between mean-girl behavior and “good-girl” conditioningWhy jealousy is often just desire wearing a disguiseHow patriarchy profits from women doubting each otherWhat happens when you stop abandoning yourself to stay likedThe truth about “playing nice” versus being authenticHow to spot internalized misogyny hiding in everyday interactionsThe mindset shift that turns envy into empowermentThis conversation is your permission slip to stop shrinking. === SNIPPETS FROM THE SUMMIT === The phenomenon I'm talking about today isn't new. But the Internet, then social media, virtual assistants and now AI have caused it to be more obvious.  It goes like this...when shielded by the "anonymity of the Internet", many humans have a tendency to, well...start talking to people in YouTube comment sections like they're not really human on the other side of the computer. Or worse, the "buffer zone" offered by the Internet empowers them to say things they wouldn't have the balls to say to anyone IRL. And when smartphones--and Siri--came along, the downward spiral continued. People started treating a simulated human horribly. Now, with so much AI, we find ourselves talking to soulless robots more than red-blooded humans sometimes. Where is all of this transhumanism really taking us...and what's the big deal, anyway? And what does this have to do with getting better with women? As it turns out, everything. Get in on my Substack channel at: https://mountaintoppodcast.com/substack

Lured Up - A Pokémon GO Podcast

Lured Up Podcast 364 Live Streamed on - 9/23/25 Publish Date - 9/26/25 This week had a first with Scopely retweeting Pokémon GO which reminded Trainers that the Niantic acquisition was completed months ago. With the comments being somewhat tame so far, we inappropriately speculate on if we think the hyper passionate and emotional X mob will give Scopely a fair chance on social, or if the baton will be passed directly to them from Niantic. With the team members being the same, we know the same devs are still pushing the buttons. As for social, particularly NianticHelp, we are yet to see the names and branding flip to reflect Scopely. We know one thing for sure, we hope Scopely is ready to take on PGO social media. We start with a recap of the last week of gameplay including the Psychic Spectacular: Taken Over and Shadow Groudon Raid Weekend. While the event pace has slowed down a bit, the Today View is more stacked than ever, with multiple Timed and Special Research stacking on top of each other. With three upcoming weekends of Max Battle and Raid Days, we talk about what kind of value we get from DMAX vs Mega Pokémon. This week brings us Mega Camerupt, followed by DMAX Duraludon releasing along with its Shiny, followed up by Mega Metagross which has been a long time coming. With most Trainers having already invested in good IV Metagross, what appeals to you more: DMAX or Megas? Large scale IRL events are in the news this week as City Safaris in Valencia and Amsterdam are happening this weekend, and a Save-The-Date post was shared for GO Tour. With both of these events having a unique presentation and feel, they compliment GO Fest events well, and promote travel, which is something we feel makes this game so special. No worries if you can't travel, GO Tour Global will be happening one week after the in person event. Finally we wrap up with a conversation about a topic that has been around for a while. Content creators being rude to the developer and claiming that it is constructive criticism. With so many ways to sway a community, and so many avenues as a creator to speak directly to the developer, we question why some on social media insist on slipping in a dig when commenting about the game.  Psychic Spectacular: Taken Over Shadow Groudon Raid Weekend Completely Normal Mega Camerupt Raid Day Mega Camerupt Pokebattler Mega Camerupt GO Hub Steel Skyline Mega Metagross Raid Day City Safaris Dancing in the Moonlight Harvest Festival Scopely enters the chat Joe Merrick JRESeawolf As The Pokéball Turns David Hernandez GoFundMe Buy Some Merch! The P.T. Entrepreneur Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 25, 2025 19:36

The One Thing You Must Nail When Starting Your Cash-Based PT Clinic: Your Niche In this episode, Doc Danny Matta explains the #1 decision that will make or break a new cash-based clinic: defining a clear, winnable niche. He shares real client stories (Rainmaker → Mastermind), how his own clinic launched by owning the CrossFit space, and a simple 3-part test to choose a niche that actually grows your business. Quick Ask Like the show? Share it with a clinician friend or on your IG stories and tag Danny—help PT Biz move closer to the goal of adding $1B in cash-based services to our profession. Episode Summary Core thesis: If you don't define your niche early, your business will stall. If you do, traction accelerates. Rainmaker → Mastermind arc: Rainmaker helps you go full-time; Mastermind helps you scale beyond yourself into a standalone space and team. Real example: A client's schedule exploded after she narrowed her audience, created content for them, and showed up where they congregate (workshops + the right Facebook groups). Danny's launch playbook: He chose CrossFit in Atlanta (credibility + interest), then expanded later to runners and entrepreneurs as the clinic's reputation grew. Mission + money: “No money, no mission.” You can do pro bono after your model supports itself. The 3-Box Niche Test Can you help them? Litmus test: if you only got paid after they achieved the outcome, would you take the bet? Do you like working with them? Authentic energy wins. If you don't enjoy the group, your marketing will feel forced—and flop. Can they afford you? Some populations (e.g., heavy Medicaid pediatrics) won't support a cash model. Match your service to a segment with willingness and ability to pay. Why Narrow First (Then Expand) Speed: Clear messaging and offers convert faster when you're “the go-to” for a specific problem in a specific community. Referrals: Specialists are easier to recommend than generalists. Ops simplicity: Marketing, workshops, and content focus around one avatar—less guesswork, more reps. Expansion later: Once you dominate one niche, broaden to adjacent groups with confidence and social proof. Field Notes & Examples CrossFit start: High credibility (MobilityWOD teaching, comp-team experience) + enthusiastic buyer segment (membership fees, gear, coaching) = fast traction. Entrepreneurs niche: Emerged organically via networks; recurring “continuity” check-ins became a valuable service. Runners: Military background created deep reps with run-related injuries—an easy adjacent expansion. Pro Tips You Can Use Today Audit your schedule: Which past patients did you love helping? Start there. Map the congregation points: List 5 IRL spaces (gyms, clubs, studios) and 5 digital spaces (FB groups, forums, local hashtags) your niche already uses. Publish niche-proof: Create 3 quick pieces: a “Start Here” guide, a case study, and a workshop outline tailored to one avatar. Use the bet test: Would you take the patient if you only got paid after the result? Plan for give-back later: Build profitability first, then add pro bono for populations you care about. Notable Quotes “Until I got really clear on who I wanted to work with, I struggled to get traction. When I defined my person, my schedule exploded.” “No money, no mission. A strong business lets you create the impact you want—including pro bono.” “The riches are in the niches. Specialize first; expand later.” Action Items Write a one-page niche brief: problem, desired outcome, objections, congregation points. Book 1–2 workshops this month with that niche's top local hubs. Record a 3-part content series answering the avatar's biggest pains. Set a 30-day focus rule: all marketing time goes to this one avatar. Programs Mentioned Clinical Rainmaker: Coaching + plan to get you full-time in your clinic. Mastermind: Scale beyond yourself into space, team, and systems. What if the cure for our collective heartbreak isn't therapy or medication, but completely reimagining where we live? Steve Nygren, founder of Serenbe and author of the new book "Start in Your Backyard," discovered this truth when he stepped off the treadmill of life 30 years ago and accidentally created one of the most revolutionary sustainable community living models in America. His friends living at Serenbe describe their lives as "feeling like college again" - not because they're partying, but because they've rediscovered what it means to live in true community where nobody locks their doors and relationships flourish through proximity and intentional design.Steve returns to the show to dive deep into how biophilic design and intentional community planning can transform not just individual lives, but entire cultures. From the shocking statistic that Serenbe has 240 children with zero reported cases of asthma to the simple revelation that removing lawns and adding front porches can revolutionize neighborhood relationships, this conversation will completely shift how you think about the spaces you inhabit. Steve's radical common sense approach proves that the solutions to our isolation, health crises, and environmental challenges aren't complex - they're just forgotten. What You'll Learn in This Episode:• How sustainable community living at Serenbe eliminates childhood asthma through chemical-free environments and biophilic design principles • Why walkable neighborhoods create spontaneous relationships that transform mental health and community connection• The revolutionary power of front porches, shared mail centers, and removing traditional lawns for building intentional community • How to start local food systems in your own neighborhood that support regional resilience and better health • Why Americans spend 93% of their time indoors or in vehicles and how environmental wellness can change everything • Simple neighborhood design changes that create safety, reduce isolation, and foster genuine relationships • How to leverage your talents locally instead of feeling overwhelmed by global problems you can't control • The specific steps to transform your own backyard and street into a community building catalystReady to stop feeling helpless about the state of the world and start creating change right where you are? Steve's journey from successful businessman to community visionary proves that one person with radical common sense can transform entire regions. Whether you're dreaming of sustainable development or just want to know your neighbors' names, this episode will give you the roadmap to start in your own backyard.Prefer to watch on YouTube? https://youtu.be/Yi-FHpOMvLsWhat changes could you make on your own street that would create the ripple effect you're looking for? For the 227th episode of Private Parts Unknown, host Courtney Kocak welcomes the co-editors of the new anthology Gray Love: Stories About Dating and New Relationships After 60, Nan Bauer-Maglin & Daniel E. Hood—and spoiler alert: they don't just “work well together,” they're an IRL couple! Often, the dating stories we hear are from younger people, but the quest for love and sex doesn't have an expiration date—and depending on how things shake out, you might find yourself back on the dating scene way later than you expected. Senior singles make up one of the fastest-growing demographics in online dating, and they're writing a third act for themselves that previous generations could never have imagined. For some, it even brings the best sex of their lives.  Though, of course, dating and relationships come with a different set of circumstances later in life. We are going to get into all the nuances with today's guests, including dealing with death, ghosts in the bed, living apart together (incorrectly referred to as “living alone together” during the interview—our apologies!), and more. Plus, we talk about the pros and cons of becoming a parent after 40 and the preferred terminology of “older people” or older adults” versus “old,” “elderly,” or, god forbid, “geriatric.” For more from today's guests, Nan Bauer-Maglin & Daniel E. On this powerful episode, Ali sits down with Lacy Nicole—who you may have seen in the headlines for dating Jesse Lally from the hit reality show The Valley—but her story goes far deeper than Bravo antics. Lacy has endured the unthinkable: she survived a kidnapping before even beginning her infertility journey, and then faced years of debilitating reproductive health struggles—stage four endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, polyps, 28 ER visits, and multiple surgeries. She opens up about Lupron shots, induced menopause, internal bleeding, chronic fatigue, and the emotional toll of IVF, miscarriages, anxiety, and PTSD. She also talks about finding strength in the endo community, her current egg freezing journey, and finally finding a medical team who advocates for her care. Raw, honest, and inspiring, Lacy's story is a testament to resilience, community, and refusing to stay silent. This is an episode you—and anyone navigating infertility or chronic illness—won't want to miss.EPISODE SPONSORS: BEAUTIFUL BIRD AND WORK OF ARTAli's Children's Book Series about IVF, IUI and Family Building Through Assisted Reproductive Technology https://www.infertileafgroup.com/booksThe latest book in the Work of ART series, “Beautiful Bird” tells the story of three parents, one incredible boy and a family built with love—and a little bit of science.Pre-orders are available now! Today I'm breaking down why a silence and solitude practice is essential in a world drowning in inputs. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, confused, and unclear trying to navigate everyone else's opinions, constantly scrolling, or defaulting to what you're “supposed to” think and do, this one's for you.   I walk you through how I structure true silence (no music, no phone, no podcasts), my favorite timing windows, and a simple way to use inquiry prompts so you're not just “sitting there,” you're actually sharpening discernment. We talk about starting small, embracing pauses, being okay leaving without a final answer, and learning to balance emotion with logic so you can find your truth instead of rushing to the most convenient conclusion.   You'll leave with a practical framework to follow the thread with curiosity, regulate your inner world, and move through life more solid and self-led…online and IRL. The we hear a crazy drug story from a crazy dopey who gopt stung in his eye by a bee! Then we hear from Gabby! Dave chops it up with TikTok creator and tie-dye shop owner Gabby (Gabrielle) Egan. She grew up in Fayetteville, NC; first got high on Triple C's in middle school and smoked weed at 12; got pregnant at 13; joined the Army at 17 (diesel mechanic) and drank heavy. Fame hit on TikTok during COVID. Two alcohol arrests landed her on TMZ (Vegas blackout/“kicking a cop,” later a Nashville headbutt). In Sept 2024, Rachel from Against All Odds brought her to an AA meeting—Gabby white-knuckled a hotel night with no weed, flew home, and hasn't smoked or drank since (sober date 9/20/24). She talks bipolar I (diagnosed 21), quitting carts/edibles, withdrawals, motherhood of four (his/hers/ours), pop-up tie-dye hustle, anxiety about meeting followers IRL, and how group accountability (Sober Girls chat) plus sitting in discomfort keeps her straight. She caps it by telling her whole story in 60 seconds. ALL THAT PLUS MORE on a brand new edition of that good old dopey show!
