What happens when one of the biggest producers in music—behind hits for Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and more—reveals that he's actually a devoted follower of Jesus? In this episode, Ruslan sits down with Rodney Jerkins, better known as “Darkchild,” to talk about his journey of faith, success, and struggle inside the secular music industry. They discuss the tension of creating music for the world's biggest stars while staying true to God, the challenges of compromise, and how Rodney's perspective has shifted as he's matured in his walk with Christ. Rodney also flips the script, asking tough questions about Christian YouTube, why believers often focus on secular artists, and how the Church should think about ambition, validation, and building a culture that glorifies God.Whether you love music, wrestle with faith in your career, or just want to hear the behind-the-scenes of both Hollywood and the Church, this conversation will encourage and challenge you to live with godly ambition.
Yassy is back and kicks things off with hood news and her latest round of “market research” on nightlife and dating. From there, the crew tackles emotional vs. physical cheating, relationship dealbreakers, and viral Red Pill & Chill questions on sex, money, and insecurities (8:51). Next, Jermaine Dupri's appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast sparks debate on marketability and legacy and whether Chris Brown should ever be compared to Michael Jackson, with Usher, Nepo babies, and marriage advice also in the mix (27:31). The conversation shifts to Jim Jones' sit-down with Fivio Foreign, and the generational divide on Nas' legacy (54:18). Later, the trio unpacks a list music-exec salaries (1:07:54), the Ozempic lawsuits, and how social media fuels body image pressure (1:13:46). They also weigh in on the song of the summer debate (1:29:08), Tyla's likability (1:32:16), what they would legalize if they became President (1:42:24), and much more! This week on The Fast Ones, Max and Mike dive headfirst into an unexpected but glorious mashup of 80s music nostalgia, steamy racing fiction, and of course, the Hungarian Grand Prix. The episode opens with an ode to Toto—yes, the band—followed by a deep dive into their hidden connection to Michael Jackson's Thriller, and the math-rock genius of 80s studio bands. From there, things take a sharp turn as Max reveals his "book of the week": Overtake My Heart, a Daniel Ricciardo-themed erotic novel that's somehow both hilarious and unsettling—and might just have been written by the Honey Badger himself. When the tire smoke clears, the guys break down the Hungarian GP: Lando's redemption win, Oscar's quiet dominance, Charles Leclerc's cryptic radio messages, George Russell's whiny post-race meltdown, and Aston Martin's mysterious return to form. There's also love for Ollie Bearman, speculation about Lewis Hamilton's future (is he retiring or just dropping merch?), and a passionate defense of Haas—the only F1 team you really need to root for. It's part racing analysis, part fever dream, and all gas, no brakes.

From the Andes to the world: this month, we bring you the story of Quechua singer, rapper, and activist Renata Flores—a journey of rhythm, resistance, and reclamation straight from the mountains of Ayacucho, Peru. This episode of Fritanga features an English-language introduction, followed by a powerful conversation in Spanish with the viral artist redefining Latin music and honoring Indigenous identity by bringing Quechua to the world stage. ABOUT RENATA [ENGLISH VERSION]:At just 14, Renata Flores went viral rapping Michael Jackson's “The Way You Make Me Feel” in Quechua—the Indigenous Andean language of her ancestors and the most widely spoken Indigenous language in Latin America. But that moment wasn't just a remix. It was a reclaiming. Now 24, Renata has become a powerful voice for Indigenous youth across Latin America. Her music blends hip hop, pop, and ancestral tradition to celebrate her roots and challenge colonial narratives. Her lyrics speak truth to power, and to the soul of a people whose language and culture have survived conquest, marginalization, and war.Following her 2021 debut album Isqun - a 9-track tribute to the strength of Andean women throughout history - Renata is preparing to release her second album, deepening her commitment to cultural pride, Indigenous visibility, and sonic innovation.
Ever wonder why you wear what you wear? It might seem like a simple choice—jeans or sweats, boots or sneakers—but behind every outfit is a weird, tangled mess of history, culture, insecurity, and confidence. In this episode, you'll take a walk through some decades of fashion—from buffalo fur for survival to kids wearing pajama pants in public. We start where clothing really began: not on the catwalk, but in cold weather. You wore what you needed to stay alive. There was no "style"—just fur from the predator to throw on your back. But over time, things shifted. Clothing became about power, wealth, and status. Kings, queens, and the upper crust dressed in elaborate and uncomfortable outfits—to prove they could afford it and you couldn't.For decades, fashion stayed in its lane: suits and hats for white-collar workers, overalls and work shirts for blue-collar folks. Women's clothing followed strict, conservative rules. Then - the 1950s and 60s showed up. With the rise of TV and youth culture, fashion stopped being about rules and started being about being different. Some trends got weirder, louder, and more experimental—from Kriss Kross wearing pants backwards to Michael Jackson putting his underwear on the outside. In hindsight, it all seems ridiculous—but it made sense at the time, right? This episode digs into how we use fashion to distance ourselves from the generations before us. As a kid or teen, you could wear the wildest thing and pull it off—just because you were young. This energy is basically magic. But somewhere along the line, usually in your 30s or 40s, you stop trying so hard. You wear what feels good. You stop caring what anyone else thinks—and there's a real freedom in that. But it's not all peace and pajama pants. We talk about the insecurity of youth, the slow build of adult confidence, and the very real possibility that something you love wearing today might be laughable in ten or twenty years. And that's okay.Because fashion has never made complete sense. It's not supposed to. It's about identity, energy, self-expression—and sometimes just putting something on that makes your wife say “goddamn.” Whether it's three little buttons on a shirt or the weird flannel pants everyone's suddenly wearing to school, you wear the things that make you feel like you.So wear whatever you want and don't let anyone tell you it's not cool. You will be your biggest critic in the future anyway-Opening song “Chiptune Fighter" written by SCOREWIZARDS.All production by Cody Maxwell.Opening graphic assets by motionstate.sharkfyn.commaxwellskitchenpodcast.com

It represents the dedication, and the passion towards his craft. Coming from New York, the musician attributes his hometown as a major influence on his style, and sound. Born James Allen Worthy on March 28, 1992 in Queens, New York, James began pursuing music at the age of 16. During that time period James had the opportunity to meet the late great Michael Jackson at Webster Hall in New York City which inspired James to fully pursue a career in the music business. After moving to Atlanta, GA the singer, songwriter, and producers first musical experience was at his high school recording studio through a music mentoring program sponsored by Dallas Austin. His initial foray into music consisted of learning the art of songwriting which later turned into music production shortly after. Artissen was also highly influenced by artists such as: A Tribe Called Quest, Whodini, Kanye West, Miguel, The Weeknd, and Pharrell Williams. While studying those artists he began to teach himself how to sing in 2009. To further his education he attended The Art Institute of Atlanta where he received a bachelor's degree in audio production. This helped him begin working, and placing his work with mainstream acts, and songwriters. In 2017, James transitioned from music production to artistry, and began recording himself. He joined a duo group named Kings X2, and released their debut single "Wine For Me" in september of 2017. The single peaked at #10 on the US Billboard Hot Single Sales Chart for 5 weeks. Later in 2018 the group disbanded, and James released his debut solo single "Move" which features the rap group Whodini. Following up to 2019 James released his anticipated EP "Blu Leisure" which became critically acclaimed upon its release. The project included guest appearances from: Tony Terry, Sonna Rele, Kalenna Harper, and Whodini. After its great success he released his sophomore EP "Kaleidoscopes", and in 2023 he joined forces with rapper Big Gipp of the rap group Goodie Mob to release their collaborative EP "Gipp N Worthy". We speak with best-selling author J. Randy Taraborelli about his most recent book- "JFK- Public, Private, Secret." It is, in many ways, the culmination of several decades of research that he has done into the Kennedy family in the course of writing half a dozen books about the Kennedys. His previous book, crafted in a very similar fashion, is titled "Jackie- Public, Private, Secret." Taraborelli has also written best-selling biographies of Frank Sinatra, Princess Grace, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, and - perhaps most famously- Diana Ross with the book "Call Her Miss Ross."

In this episode of the Que Bola podcast, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the talented filmmaker and music video director, Mr. Michael Garcia. We kicked off the conversation with a light-hearted exchange about the podcast setup, particularly the absence of headphones, which Michael appreciated as it allowed for a more personal connection during our chat. Michael shared his philosophy on creativity, emphasizing the importance of not taking oneself too seriously as an artist. He believes that maintaining a sense of fun and chaos is essential to preserving one's edge in the creative field. We delved into his early days as a filmmaker, discussing the struggles of starting out broke and hustling to find clients. Michael recounted how his passion for film was ignited by childhood memories, such as watching Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and experiencing the cinematic magic of "Purple Rain." As we explored his journey, Michael revealed the lengths he went to in order to create his projects, including a clever yet risky strategy of buying and returning cameras to complete his work. He recounted his early experiences shooting music videos for local artists, often losing money in the process but driven by a blind belief in his potential to succeed. We discussed the significance of the relationships and experiences he gained through filmmaking, highlighting how the memories made during projects often outweigh the final product itself. Michael shared stories of his travels to various countries for shoots, emphasizing the unique experiences and friendships he formed along the way. Transitioning into the technical aspects of filmmaking, Michael explained how he initially got his start as a production assistant, learning from industry veterans while honing his craft. He recounted a pivotal moment when he was offered the chance to direct a music video for Kodak Black, which unexpectedly skyrocketed his career. The success of that video opened doors to numerous opportunities, leading to collaborations with major artists and record labels. We also touched on the evolving landscape of music videos and the impact of platforms like TikTok on the industry. Michael expressed his thoughts on the importance of making artists look cool and the challenges of adapting to new trends in content consumption. As our conversation progressed, we explored the differences between directing music videos, documentaries, and feature films. Michael emphasized the importance of storytelling and character development in film, contrasting it with the more visual and stylistic approach of music videos. Throughout the episode, Michael's passion for filmmaking and storytelling shone through, as he shared insights into the creative process, the business side of the industry, and the ever-changing dynamics of content creation. This episode is a must-listen for aspiring filmmakers, music video directors, and anyone interested in the art of storytelling through visual media.
Today, I'm breaking down 5 popular mics that you may have seen in your search for the perfect podcast mic. We start with the well-advertised, terribly performing Blue Yeti. I explain why you're better off to skip it, and buy a dynamic microphone for cheaper.Next, the nearly interchangeable Samson Q2U and Audio Technica ATR-2100X. The ATR has a USB-C option, but has been in very short supply lately. The Q2U is only USB-A, but you can buy an adapter/dongle and use a USB-C port on a newer computer. Both are around $60-$70.Middle of the road, you can upgrade to the Shure MV7 - for around $300. High quality mic for a little bit more than entry level. If budget isn't a concern, or you're spending a marketing budget, splurge on the Shure SM7B. You'll see it in most high-end podcast productions. And it's been used by everyone from Michael Jackson to Eminem....to me.Microphone questions, reach out any time. Evie and Eli are a dynamic duo with a deep love for food, adventure, and building unforgettable experiences. Based in Las Vegas, they're both certified SCA judges, and passionate foodies. Eli is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, global traveler, and expert builder of custom off-road vehicles. In 2023, he introduced the Military Class to King of the Hammers—his own creation, inspired by converting a 2011 Armorworks Hyena Military Prototype into an Ultra4 race truck. Evie is a top-tier Google Maps restaurant reviewer—ranked in the top 10 worldwide—a creator of unforgettable events, and the designer behind the off-road vehicle that took her and Eli to second place in their class at the 2022 Mint 400. Known for her unique blend of creativity and authenticity, she turns every experience into something truly special. THE VENUE In Spring 2024, they purchased a 5-acre property in Homewood Canyon just outside Death Valley National Park and opened Base Camp Death Valley as an event venue in March 2025. The centerpiece is the Desert Rose Manor, a 6,000 sq ft, four-story colonial home featuring stunning exterior wrought ironwork by the late Raymon Larose—a legendary West Coast blacksmith whose work graces the homes of Frank Sinatra and Barbra Walters, and properties owned by Paramount, Universal, Disney Studios, MGM Grand, as well as creations for Barry Manilow, Michael Jackson, The Osmond Family, and many more. While the Manor's interior is currently undergoing a careful remodel, the exterior will be beautifully finished in time for the October 2025 event—offering a gorgeous backdrop. Guests at Base Camp Death Valley can enjoy one of Larose's remarkable creations up close—the wedding arch made from wrought iron gates originally crafted for Barbra Walters' house. Though these gates were damaged by a visitor before they could be shipped, Larose rebuilt a new set and later repaired the originals. The restored gates now serve as a striking and historic backdrop for the wedding ceremony area, offering attendees a unique glimpse into the artistry that enriches the property. Don't let the reputation of the Death Valley heat scare you away—Base Camp sits at a refreshing 3,000 feet in elevation, often 5–10 degrees cooler than Las Vegas, NV. October temperatures are ideal, and the night sky? Absolutely unreal. As a designated 100% DarkZone, Base Camp offers one of the clearest, darkest stargazing experiences on Earth. THE EVENT On October 11, 2025, they'll host the inaugural Sizzlin at Sunset Steak Cookoff, a fully SCA-sanctioned event featuring Golden Ticket opportunities for Steak and Ancillaries—making it the final qualifying event before the SCA World Championships in Fort Worth March 2026. And because ticket winners can't take home more than one Golden Ticket in a category, it's a prime opportunity for novice competitors to snag a spot. The legendary Ken Phillips, SCA Co-Founder, will serve as the SCA event rep. Competitors can camp onsite(limited spaces available) or take advantage of discounted lodging in nearby Ridgecrest, CA (just 37 miles away). Whether you're a seasoned competitor or a backyard cook ready to try your hand, the Sizzlin at Sunset Steak Cookoff is shaping up to be one of the most exciting, welcoming, and visually stunning events of the season.
