What if the shadows you've been avoiding were actually the doorway to your greatest gifts… and your body was the key to unlocking them?In this solo episode of Fire and Soul, I open up about one of the most transformative seasons of my life. Since my last solo in May, I've completed my trauma-informed certification and am about to finish in attachment-style somatic certification, deepened my devotion to daily breathwork, and discovered a powerful synthesis between body-based awareness and spiritual frameworks like the Gene Keys.Along the way, I walked through a profound personal year 9… a time of intense shedding and release that touched every aspect of my life, from where I lived to long-held relationships and business partnerships. Out of this unraveling emerged something remarkable: a living practice of Embodied Ascension that has reshaped how I live, love, and lead.In this episode, I share:The power of daily somatic check-ins and how they unlock shadow patternsHow weaving Gene Keys with body awareness reveals our gifts and siddhisWhy breathwork and spiritual devotion have become my anchorsHow this integration birthed my first new offerings in years: Soul Work Foundation and now Soul Work SynergyThis conversation is both a personal update and an invitation. If you've felt the shedding, the dissonance, or the longing for a new way forward, my prayer is that something here resonates with your own awakening.Resources and links:Soul Work Synergy: michelle-sorro.com/synergyEquity & Self-Governance Live Q&A on 9/23 at 5pm PST : https://meetn.com/Event?ID=edec96fdcd Hosted on Acast. In this episode of HFS Unfiltered Stories, Saurabh Gupta, President of Research and Advisory Services at HFS Research, sits down with Jay Desai, Head of IT Infrastructure Operations at JTI, for an eye-opening conversation on bridging the often-disconnected worlds of business, IT, and cybersecurity. Jay shares hard-earned lessons from leading Global Business Services (GBS) through geopolitical shocks, shifting into IT and cyber leadership, and navigating the GenAI hype with realism and grit. This is a rare look into what it really takes to drive enterprise transformation, from aligning C-suite incentives to overcoming organizational resistance. Whether you're scaling GenAI or building connected enterprise models, this conversation is full of truth bombs, leadership insights, and the kind of wisdom that only comes from being on both sides of the transformation divide. Key discussion points:Breaking Functional Silos: Why IT, GBS, and cybersecurity leaders must adopt a shared vision to enable true enterprise-wide transformation. The Moral Hazard in Transformation: How misaligned ownership of costs vs. benefits creates friction between business and IT, and how to solve it.Why the 'OneOffice' Vision Still Eludes Us: The challenge of aligning incentives and OKRs across finance, IT, and HR departments.GenAI: From Hype to Reality: Why GenAI is stuck in POC purgatory, and what leaders must fix to unlock real value.Enterprise ‘Debts' Beyond Technology: Cultural, process, and people debt are just as critical as technical debt in holding back transformation.Leadership Lessons in the AI Era: Jay's real-world advice to aspiring leaders, embrace failure, earn trust, and be unapologetically authentic.Tune in now to hear what it really takes to lead across silos—and why the future belongs to those who can connect dots others can't.

This week on the podcast, I'm diving into a topic that's been on my mind a lot lately—competition vs. cooperation. We live in a world (and even within mission culture) where competition often takes center stage—ranking, comparing, pushing to be “the best.” But what happens when we shift our focus to cooperation instead? What if the real strength and success come from uniting, including, and building each other up? In this episode, I share personal stories, observations from ward and youth activities, and even lessons from parenting that helped me see the contrast between these two approaches. We'll talk about the energy competition can create, but also the hierarchies and division it sometimes leaves behind. Then, we'll explore how cooperation fosters unity, abundance, and the kind of Christlike leadership we need more of on the mission and in life. Whether you're a preparing missionary learning to manage expectations, a currently serving missionary working in a district or zone, a returned missionary trying to let go of comparison, or a missionary mom/leader wondering how to encourage unity—this conversation will give you new perspectives and practical tools to notice where competition is creeping in, and how to intentionally lean into cooperation instead. Because when we choose cooperation, everyone wins. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. Until next week my friends. In this episode, host Etienne Nichols sits down with MedTech quality expert Beth Waring to explore the often-overlooked but crucial relationship between project managers and quality professionals. They tackle the common friction points and misunderstandings that arise when these two roles intersect, and discuss why this relationship is so vital for building a successful and compliant quality management system (QMS).Beth highlights that the key to a strong partnership is open communication and mutual respect, moving away from the "quality as a police force" mentality. She emphasizes that quality is not just a department but a company-wide mindset—a concept she calls "small Q quality." The discussion provides practical insights on how project managers and quality professionals can work together effectively, ensuring that processes are flexible yet compliant. They also explore how language and tools can either help or hinder this collaboration. By reframing conversations to focus on shared goals like risk mitigation and efficiency, and by adopting user-friendly QMS solutions like Greenlight Guru's, teams can achieve better engagement and compliance. Beth shares a personal anecdote about turning a skeptic into a quality champion by simply explaining the "why" behind a procedure, underscoring the power of education and trust in fostering a culture of quality.Key Timestamps00:02:54 - Defining a culture of quality and the friction points in implementation.00:03:21 - The problem with "big Q" and "small Q" quality and why language matters.00:07:05 - The ideal relationship between a project manager and a quality professional.00:10:34 - The analogy of quality as a safety guardrail for the company.00:11:14 - Expanding the scope of risk management beyond patient harm.00:14:53 - Strategies for overcoming resistance and low adoption of new quality tools.00:17:43 - The importance of involving quality professionals early in the proof-of-concept phase.00:19:30 - Tailoring communication to different departments to enhance engagement.00:21:21 - Beth's story about converting a skeptic into a quality champion by explaining the "why."00:24:42 - The critical role of digital solutions in streamlining change orders and design controls.Quotes"Quality is doing the right thing when nobody's watching." "Quality can be a police force or they can be a partner. We want to make sure they're a partner." - Etienne NicholsTakeawaysFoster a Culture of Collaboration: Shift the mindset from quality as a policing function to a collaborative partnership. Open communication and trust between project managers and quality professionals are essential for success and compliance.Explain the "Why": Rather than dictating procedures, take the time to explain the purpose and regulatory justification behind quality processes. When people understand the "why," they are more likely to adopt and champion the system.Flexibility is Key: A rigid QMS can lead to frustration and workarounds. Build flexibility and risk-based decision-making into your processes from the start, allowing for deviations when justified without compromising safety or compliance.Involve Quality Early: Bringing quality professionals into the R&D and proof-of-concept phases ensures that early-stage documentation is robust and controlled. This streamlined approach prevents issues and rework later in the development cycle.Leverage Modern Tools: Modern Electronic Quality Management Systems (EQMS) like...

In this episode, we talk about Practice Statement 35, which the UK Takeover Panel published recently, on profit forecasts, synergy statements (referred to in the Takeover Code as quantified financial benefits statements or QFBSs) and connected investment research. Areas we discuss include: • the regime in the Takeover Code for profit forecasts; • how the rules apply where a target has unequivocally rejected an approach; • the Panel Executive's approach to reports on synergy statements where a deal leaks; • its approach where a target provides a profit forecast to a bidder as part of the due diligence exercise; • when a forward-looking statement will be an aspirational target; • how the regime applies to profit forecasts for financial periods which end more than 15 months in the future; and • when the Executive may grant a dispensation from the rules that apply when a connected firm publishes investment research.

What happens when pet sitters and independent veterinarians start working together more intentionally? Dr. Christie Cornelius, Director of the Independent Veterinary Practitioners Association, joins the show to discuss the unique challenges and strengths of independently owned veterinary practices. She explores how pet sitters can play a pivotal role in improving pet health outcomes through strong communication and observation. The conversation covers evolving veterinary trends, AI integration, and practical ways to establish partnerships between sitters and clinics. Dr. Cornelius shares how trust, storytelling, and showing up consistently can build lasting community relationships. Main Topics Independent veterinary clinic challenges Pet sitter-veterinarian collaboration AI in veterinary care Building trust and communication End-of-life and hospice pet care Main takeaway: “What they want is they want to be invited into your mission, and they want to participate in that, and then showing them how care is actually a collective act builds those lasting bonds.” As pet sitters, we often feel like we're doing it all on our own. But the truth is, the most powerful care happens when we collaborate. Pet parents are craving connection and clarity—they want to know that their sitter, their vet, and everyone involved in their pet's life are on the same page. When we open the door to cooperation, we don't just lighten our load—we build bonds that benefit the pet most. Invite others into your mission. That's where the magic happens. About our guest: Dr. Christie Cornelius is a veterinarian with over two decades of experience, currently serving as the Director of the Independent Veterinary Practitioners Association. After founding Texas's first water-based pet cremation and home hospice care business, she sold her practice to help launch BluePearl's national pet hospice program. Now, she focuses on consulting and empowering other independent vets through leadership, business strategy, and community collaboration. Based on Galveston Island, Dr. Cornelius also provides in-home veterinary services in her local area. Links: https://www.iveterinarians.org Check out our Starter Packs See all of our discounts! Dan Vogel, founder and CEO of Flourish Fund, has carried a lifelong passion for solving big social problems that are close to the heart of God. As a young boy, Dan was drawn to leadership that would make an improved difference in the systems that were meant to address those problems. From the White House to overseas to a consulting firm in Boston, Dan's extensive professional background working in government, economic development, and nonprofit realms, all set the stage for the launch of Flourish Fund. Flourish Fund is a giving fund that channels pooled capital from givers alongside extensive problem area research to bring about large, system level change. Flourish Fund's unique effectiveness is found in their focus on collaborative giving and cooperation between organizations, both faith-based and secular, who offer various approaches toward the same goal. Their first fund called Flourish Children and Families is focused on reimagining the foster care system, and they've already made impressive progress. Major Topics Include: Dan's faith and career journey The story of Flourish Fund Traditional philanthropy vs Christian philanthropy The need for growth in impact assessment in Christian giving spaces What Flourish Fund is about and how it works Tackling big social problems that matter to the heart of God Reimagining foster care in the US with Flourish Fund Building strategy and success evaluation into the fund structure The portfolio approach to collaborative giving Doing collaborative giving well Three strategic opportunities to move the needle in foster care Navigating collaboration between secular and faith-based organizations Knowing where to channel resources Deciding where to focus next What to look for in a giving fund Tips or givers to engage with the problems that are on God's heart QUOTES TO REMEMBER “I became convinced that there was room in the marketplace for a new kind of Kingdom problem-solving institution that was trying to connect capital differently with social innovators who were trying to do good work in the name of Jesus.” “What might it actually take to move the needle?” “No individual organization, even if they are crushing it, is capable of solving a systemic problem on their own.” “How might we think differently about what is possible for what we can do together?” “Collaborative giving is the next frontier of effective stewardship”. “We want to enable people to have proximity to the problem rather than putting distance between the giver and the receiver.” “We want to enable and strengthen local ecosystems of care that are anchored by the Church, working in partnership with community organizations, government, and volunteers doing different sets of things to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational needs of vulnerable kids and families.” “When Christians have been at their best through the ages, we've tended to build big tents and work with odd bedfellows. We have unique things that we can bring to bear, but we can't to it alone so we have to figure out how to work with a bunch of different people, and if we can do that well, it will point people back to Jesus.” LINKS FROM THE SHOW Flourish Fund Flourish Children and Families Flourish Children and Families Blueprint Al Mueller, Founder and President of Excellence in Giving (see our past interview here) Simple Charity (see our interview with CEO Brian Grasso) EIG Insights (see our interview with cofounder Kate Williams-Whitley) Praxis IllumiNations Bible Translation Alliance (see our interview with Todd Peterson or John Chesnut) Project Belong The Contingent Solving the World's Greatest Problems The Finish Line Community Facebook Group The Finish Line Community LinkedIn Group WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
