This Q&A episode features Travis and his producer Eric, digging into modern realities around wages and the importance (and possibilities) of side hustles in 2025. Drawing on real-world examples and listener questions, Travis breaks down practical steps for anyone—whether stuck at minimum wage, looking to upskill, or considering taking a side gig full time. The conversation debunks common myths, highlights actionable pathways, and injects a healthy dose of tough love and encouragement. On this episode we talk about: Why minimum wage jobs alone aren't enough to thrive in today's economy How to pick a side hustle that fits your schedule, skills, and goals Building skills that pay: sales, arbitrage, creative freelancing, and more When (and if) to turn your side gig into your full-time work The mindset shifts required to get out of the “employee only” mentality Top 3 Takeaways Skills are the ultimate wealth-building lever—don't just trade time for dollars, constantly invest in learning and improving high-value abilities. Action brings clarity: Try several small side hustles or projects, analyze the results, and double down on what works and what you enjoy. You don't have to quit your job unless you want to—side hustles can supplement income, fund investments, or become your main gig if they outpace your current job. Notable Quotes "Stop thinking like a 1980s employee and start thinking like a 2025 gig economy expert." "Work on building a skill stack that gives you an unfair advantage in the marketplace." "You have to be willing to do things without making money at first—work so much it becomes unreasonable for you to not be successful." In this Season Finale episode, Hilliard sits down with actor/writer/prod/director NOEL BRAHAM - co-founder of the hit MICHEAUX FILM FESTIVAL now in its 7th year and killing the game on the circuit!HIGHLIGHTS: The Power of “YET," lessons from his family growing up, becoming an actor, climbing many mountains, becoming a filmmaker and producing a Webseries and daytime Emmy-nominated short films, the power of community, co-founding and producing the Micheaux Film Festival and so much more!Noel is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, founder, and master of making gold on a budget tighter than his schedule. As the visionary behind the Micheaux Film Festival, he's built one of the fastest-growing multicultural film festivals in the country, while simultaneously directing, producing, writing, and probably acting out something in the back of an Uber. Born with a camera in one hand and an unshakable belief in multicultural stories in the other, Noel turned his journey from living in a hostel to helming red carpets into a movement. His work sits at the intersection of impact and innovation, combining soul-stirring narratives with social relevance...and maybe a sly wink to every industry gatekeeper who ever said "no."Noel's latest indie feature, Angel City, starring SNL star Chris Kattan, is a gritty, heartfelt love letter to Los Angeles that blends social commentary with cinematic ambition. Inspired by his own experience of living out of his car while chasing a dream, the film pulls back the curtain on the harsh realities of Hollywood and the homeless community.A true creative Swiss Army knife, Noel has collaborated with brands like Sony, Amazon, and Apple, while continuing to champion emerging talent who have more grit than followers. He's known for being equal parts strategist and storyteller and his superpower? Turning a three-person crew and a Craigslist location into something that looks like it came out of Warner Bros. When he's not running a festival, pitching a project, or jumping on a Zoom in a button-up and gym shorts, you can find him praying, hyping indie artists, or asking Chat GPT how to survive on three hours of sleep. Guest: Alex Smereczniak— Serial entrepreneur, former CEO of 2ULaundry & Laundry Lab (over $100M valuation, 118 franchises sold), founder of Franzy (30,000+ monthly users, $3M+ raised to help people buy “cash-flowing” businesses). Early Hustles & First Big Win: Started with classic entrepreneurial pursuits: trading cards, washing cars as a kid, and then running a laundry delivery business (“Wake Wash”) in college, which he bought for $30,000 and sold for nearly $300,000 after systematizing and scaling it. Learned about discounted cash flow, buy/sell agreements, and the real value of recurring cash flow and business structure early on. Scaling, Strategy, and Differentiation: Moved from a student business to working for a Big Four consulting firm (Ernst & Young), but quickly realized he needed to build businesses—not just advise them. Launched 2ULaundry in 2016: delivered laundry/dry cleaning to homes and businesses, quickly scaling through tech and operations, later vertically integrating by building brick-and-mortar laundromats with Electrolux, and ultimately franchising the model for rapid growth. Grew Laundry Lab to 118 franchise awards and 30 locations open as of 2025. Laundromats as a Business Model: Low failure rate due to essential, “recession proof” services—people always need clean clothes—combined with cash-flow and passive income advantages. The “Power Play”: Buy from retiring owners, retool equipment over time, tap into durable local demand. Challenges, Automation & Venture Backing: Success meant more than cash-flow: his companies required operational discipline, vertical integration, and large capital outlays (laundromat builds exceed $1M). Venture capital was attracted by the “Uber for Laundry” home-delivery angle, but Alex's model matured into a blend of tech, local infrastructure, and scalable franchising. Why Franchising Needs Disruption — Enter Franzy: Traditional franchise placement is “Wild West,” with brokers sometimes pocketing up to 60% of franchise fees, influencing which opportunities new entrepreneurs see. Franzy's mission: Take a “Zillow for Franchising” approach—leverage AI for franchise matching (across 4000+ brands), standardized fees, and transparency to empower more everyday people to buy real businesses. Focuses on each buyer's risk profile, lifestyle, and goals; not just “make the most money,” but “fit the best business to the person.” Franchise Trends & Business Models to Watch: Still bullish on laundromats for certain profiles (cash-flow, de-risked, lifestyle), but now sees huge growth in health & wellness, home services, and viral consumer brands (e.g. PopUp Bagels, HRT clinics, anything innovating with AI or “cult” followings). Anticipates continued “displacement” of white-collar jobs by AI; business ownership, franchising, and “betting on yourself” are the safest long-term play for income and autonomy. This week's episode is basically a fever dream diary entry come to life. We cover: A race reveal gone sideways (don't ask). The weirdest Uber driver story leaving Monarch—dude was basically a side quest. A wholesome lunch with the parentals that somehow ended with a fender bender. The Dyer Diaries, where topics range from birth control to “oral sex” (yes, with the air quotes) and a man pissing proudly at the Diana intersection (local hero?). Jesus offering a homeless guy $17 for a hug. Jesus's gay porn name: Dick Lazer. Being taken hostage after the Kings of the West concert with Leslie. Black Sabbath's “final” concert at Monarch. And, of course, more cursed Uber interactions in general. Basically, it's like if your drunk tío wrote a diary and then forced you to listen to it in the car.

Your village is out there, waiting for you. It might even be knocking on your door, and you haven't realized. People often think they need to make enormous shifts to find community; they need to move to a tiny village on the other side of the world or into a compound in the woods. But that's not true. Here's what you actually need: subtle shifts and a willingness to be uncomfortable. So many people talk about how they want a village, and yet, I see them rejecting the small changes they need to make to let their villages in. They won't accept help – a ride to the airport, a babysitter, a pre-cooked meal – because they don't want to put a person out or let go of control.I can offer to pick up your groceries or watch your children over and over again. I am choosing that; I want to be in community with you. But at the end of the day, you have to want that, too. We need to co-create this relationship and support system together. In this episode you'll hear about:Community, which is cited as the answer for societal issues like childcare/elder care shortages, mental health issues, etc. – but rarely is there advice on how to find itThe idea of “hiring” a village – a message families often hear – for grocery pick-ups, babysitting, Uber rides, etc.Rejecting help when you need it because you feel like you can't accept unpaid help or are unwilling to let go of controlThe level of internal required to step off the hamster wheel and be willing to feel discomfort in either asking for help or offering itResources & LinksListen to Episode 8 with my friend Adrienne about building a friendship community for her family.Like what you hear? Would you like to inherit the kingdom of God? Just say, "Yes." Brahmā says, there's one technique, and that is whatever happens to you in this world—and the same kinds of things happen to all of us, understand that this is the mercy of God, because this world is not for enjoyment. It's an Airbnb, it's an Uber. You don't own it. You don't get to keep it. You don't get to stay. So why are we here? It's a classroom. We're meant to learn something. And if you accept that God's creation is perfect, and the way that He interacts with His devotees is for their ultimate good, and you accept that in your life, and you tolerate whatever miseries come as the special gift of God to purify you of your last vestiges of attachment to the material world, he said, then you inherit the kingdom of God ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #prabhupadapicks #backtogodhead #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

No Ceiling, No Excuses: How To Stop Stalling Your Dream and Start Building Your Life by Christopher J. Capuano https://www.amazon.com/No-Ceiling-Excuses-Stalling-Building/dp/B0FGJY8366 Noceilingnoexcuses.com You don't need more hours in the day. You don't need another degree. You need to stop waiting and start building. No Ceiling, No Excuses is part memoir, part workbook, part blueprint. It's for anyone who knows they're capable of more but needs the tools and push to get started. Chris Capuano didn't come from money, mentorship, or stability. He grew up in chaos: addiction, instability, and uncertainty, and still managed to build a life of freedom, ownership, and real success. He walked away from a stable union job with benefits, a vacation fund, a pension, and a guaranteed retirement to bet on himself and build something from the ground up. No connections. No playbook. Just hunger, grit, and the belief that he was made for more. Inside, you'll find: • Lessons learned the hard way from family struggles to job sites to business ownership • The H.U.S.T.L.E. framework that changed everything • Sales, mindset, and leadership skills that actually work • How to build revenue streams that work when you're not • A raw look at what it means to grow when life stacks the deck against you This isn't fluff. This isn't theory. This is what happens when you stop waiting, stop stalling, and start building something real. If you feel stuck, burned out, or just ready for a new chapter, this is your sign. This is your permission. This is your starting point. Because there is no ceiling. Only the one you choose to live under. Let's get to work. About the author Chris Capuano is living proof that your starting point does not define your finish line. He has worn every hat you can imagine including busboy, server, power washer, dropshipper, Uber driver, real estate agent, union steamfitter, and now entrepreneur. Chris walked away from a stable six-figure career in the trades to chase something bigger: freedom, ownership, and impact. He did not have investors or shortcuts. What he had was drive, grit, and the unshakable mindset that there is no ceiling on what you can build. Raised in a home surrounded by addiction and chaos, Chris did not just beat the odds. He flipped them in his favor. Survival mode taught him resourcefulness. Street smarts turned into systems. Pain became purpose and purpose became profit. Chris has helped thousands of businesses streamline operations, process over one billion dollars in payments, and build systems that create income around the clock. He brings real-world hustle, straight-talk strategy, and a relentless belief that if you want it bad enough you will figure it out. He lives on Long Island with his wife and their four cats, proof that even the hardest hustlers have a soft side. No Ceiling No Excuses How to Stop Stalling Your Dream and Start Building Your Life is his first book and his loudest message yet.

Daniel Mahncke and Shawn O'Malley dive into Crocs, the footwear company that turned a ridiculed foam clog into a global fashion phenomenon. After a post-IPO collapse and years of overextension, Crocs has staged one of the most impressive brand comebacks in recent retail history — now fueled by strong margins, loyal customers, and bold international expansion. But there are still some challenges and risks. The HEYDUDE acquisition wasn't successful yet, and the turnaround will still take time, and there are still reasonable doubts around the sustainability of the growth and fashion relevance of Crocs. In this episode, Shawn and Daniel unpack what's driving Crocs' profitability, why its turnaround worked, and whether its Asia strategy could be the next big unlock. They break down the brand's unique mix of comfort and cultural cachet, the economics of Jibbitz and limited-edition drops, and how Gen Z's shift toward athleisure might power a decade of demand. Along the way, they explore whether Crocs is a misunderstood compounder or a hype-driven value trap — and where the stock could go in a bull, bear, and base-case scenario. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN 00:00 – Intro 04:59 – How Crocs was founded 13:38 – Why Crocs almost went bankrupt in 2008 and how it survived 25:44 – What started the second hype cycle 28:35 – What its highly customized designs mean from a business perspective 32:57 – What role social media plays in Crocs' success 41:31 – How the HEYDUDE acquisition hurt Crocs' business 50:28 – About Crocs' international strategy 01:04:23 – Whether Crocs is attractively valued at its current levels 01:09:18 – Whether Shawn & Daniel add CROX to The Intrinsic Value Portfolio *Disclaimer: Slight timestamp discrepancies may occur due to podcast platform differences.
