Gambling industry veteran Amanda Brewer returned to Gaming News Canada Show presented by GBG Plc, having just. . . er returned. . . from last week's ICE Barcelona conference. Brewer shared her thoughts on the move of ICE to the Spanish city from London, and some of the many conversations she had with members of the Canadian Gaming Association and stakeholders from other parts of sports betting and gaming universe. Not surprisingly, Brewer was frequently asked last week what in the world of Connor McDavid is going on with regulated gambling in the province of Alberta. The industry veteran also responded to our question about a recent report from FINTRAC Canada that online gambling sites are being used to launder proceeds from fentanyl dealing and production (Dave Briggs covered this in the Wednesday newsletter). Brewer pointed us to a LinkedIn post from another gambling biz veteran, Kinectify executive Derek Ramm, with his take on the alert from FINTRAC. Our conversation with Brewer also included the latest market performance report from iGaming Ontario and the organization's move to providing monthly reports; the status of a centralized self-exclusion program in Ontari-ari-ari-o; the potential impact of a provincial election on the industry; and Briggs's reporting last week that fake social media ads promoting phony online casino products on Meta and other social media platforms. Why Real Estate Agents Ask for Your Personal Information Hello! I'm Walter Monteiro, and I understand you might be wondering why real estate agents are asking for personal information, like your ID or details about your financial transactions, during real estate dealings. Let's take a moment to explain why this is necessary and how it protects everyone involved. In Canada, the real estate industry is regulated by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada, or FINTRAC. FINTRAC is responsible for fighting money laundering and terrorist financing, and real estate agents are legally obligated to comply with their regulations. These regulations require real estate agents to collect and verify certain personal information from their clients. This isn't optional—it's the law. By doing so, agents ensure that all real estate transactions are legitimate and transparent, helping to protect the market from illegal activities: Here's why this matters: First, Legal Compliance: Collecting identification and transaction details is part of a real estate agent's legal duty. It helps verify that transactions are genuine and not being used for illicit purposes. Second, Protecting Everyone: These measures prevent criminals from using real estate transactions to launder money or fund illegal activities, which keeps the market fair and safe for everyone. If real estate agents don't comply with FINTRAC regulations, there are serious consequences: Penalties and Fines: Non-compliance can lead to substantial fines. Legal Action: In some cases, it can result in legal proceedings, including sanctions or even imprisonment. License Revocation: Real estate professionals risk losing their licenses if they don't follow these rules, which could end their careers. By following these regulations, real estate agents are not only fulfilling their legal obligations but also ensuring that transactions are secure and trustworthy. It's understood that providing personal information can feel intrusive, but rest assured, it's handled with the utmost confidentiality and is used solely to meet these legal requirements. So, when a real estate agent requests your ID or details about a financial transaction, it's not just paperwork, it's about maintaining a safe and transparent real estate environment for everyone involved. If you have any questions about why this information is needed or how it's used, please feel free to ask. Real estate agents are here to ensure that your experience is smooth, secure, and compliant with all legal requirements. Thank you for your understanding and trust. Let's work together to achieve your real estate goals responsibly and confidently!

Help recap the breaches from the last week. your favorite segment who's been popped. Then we're going to be talking about the magnet goblins gobbling up one day vulnerabilities. And finally. The word, press pop-up plugin vulnerability persists popping approximately 3,300 sites. [00:00:54] transition: Thanks for [00:01:00] watching! [00:01:00] hgf: first up on our list is a chili tail from the tech giant Microsoft on March 9th. Microsoft announced that Russian hackers, chilly from their previous solar winds attack, decided to warm up by spying on some emails of Microsoft, senior leaders. The hack evolved into a frosty situation with some of Microsoft secure source code stolen. Switching over to Switzerland where things got a bit too neutral for their liking on March 8th, the Swiss government found itself in a knot tighter than a Swiss wristwatch. A ransomware attack leaked 65,000 government documents. It appears the hackers played their cards, right with the play ransomware gang, proving that sometimes neutrality attracts more than just peace. You know, what if only they had some witches watching those Swiss wristwatches, which, which would, which, where, which Swiss watch. There were three witches. And there were three Swiss wristwatches, which witch would watch which Swiss wristwatch. Absolutely not. [00:02:00] Now pour one out for the Duvel Moortgat brewery on March 9th found its production as stale as the beer in a forgotten glass. The brewery known for its spirited, Duvel faced a ransomware attack that halted it's hops. It's a sobering reminder that no industry is immune and perhaps it's time for cyber attackers to barley there. Brew up some better hobbies, maybe. They be brewing up something. Yikes. March six, brought a cold front to Canada's fin track freezing some of it systems or the cyber incident as crisp as the Canadian winter, while their intelligence system stayed snug and warm. It's a stark reminder that even those guarding the treasure need to watch their own chest. Lastly Hamilton, a Canadian city got a taste of digital disruption, but services paralyzed faster than a moose caught in headlights. The ransomware attack confirmed on March 5th has shown that even city services can get frozen over in the cyber blizzard. It's a digital reminder that in the game of cybersecurity, sometimes you go hockey stick and sometimes you're [00:03:00] the puck. Mm. Canadians love hockey. Us too. That's what I hear anyways. [00:03:06] transition: Thanks for watching! [00:03:12] offsetkeyz: All right. So the magnet goblins are gobbling up one day. Vulnerabilities. This. Is coming to you from checkpoint research. Published on March 8th, check the show notes for the URL. But if financially motivated cyber threat actor called magnet goblin. Is getting really good at exploiting one day vulnerabilities. And one day vulnerabilities are essentially vulnerabilities that are announced. And discovered already. But not yet patched. So the one day signifies about how much time attackers have to exploit these vulnerabilities before they get patched. And the magnet goblets have gotten really good at exploiting one day vulnerabilities.. The magnet goblins have targeted such systems as Ivanti connect, secure VPN, Magento ClixSense and. [00:04:00] Potentially Apache active MQ. And they use these vulnerabilities to deploy a variety of malware, including the novel Linux version of nerdy and rat, which is a remote access Trojan and warp wire, a JavaScript credential stealer. Magnet goblins, rapid adoption of one day. Vulnerabilities really just emphasizes the problem we have with patching. And the need for it. There. Operations have historically centered around financial gain. As opposed to some other motivations, like. Political or social or hacktivism. They're all about the money. And they usually use techniques. Revolving around data theft to include ransomware. Really whatever they can use to get their money. There isn't much news here other than the fact that the magnet goblins. Are out there and we really. Are behind. On our practices of updating as well as on our updates. . So as soon as a one day vulnerability comes out, make sure to check. The specifics of [00:05:00] that vulnerability and look for the indicators of compromise surrounding it. [00:05:15] offsetkeyz: Alright, and to wrap up today's stories, We're going to be talking about that. WordPress pop-up plugin. Vulnerability that was announced last November. Recently seen an uptick. In exploits. It's impacting. The plugin version is 4.2 0.3 and older. And involves a cross site, scripting vulnerability. And really highlights the reluctance of WordPress users to update their plugins. So if you're a WordPress administrater or consumer of WordPress websites, which most of us are one of those two things. If not, both. The WordPress plugin must be active and also creating popups on your site. So for example, this plugin is enabled by default. When you. Launch a new WordPress website, which we don't [00:06:00] love. But the good news is that even though it's enabled by default, It must be creating pop-ups in order for it to be. Exploited. My fear when reading this was that, yes, this is a default plugin. And since it's a default plugin, there are what 300,000 WordPress sites out there, all with this plugin, just chilling, probably on updated. And unutilized but luckily it must be utilized as well as enabled. And that's because the attackers inject PHP code into one of the events. That triggers the pop-up. And that PHP code is then stored on the server, alongside the WordPress site, making it a stored cross site, scripting vulnerability. Which means that anyone who accesses the site and sees the pop-up. Is vulnerable. To that malicious PHP code. And that code can do many things. It can try to hijack your session cookie, which. Is the ultimate goal, because then the attacker is you [00:07:00] without actually having to log in. Or it could redirect you to fishing sites or really anything that they want. So if you're a WordPress admin, obviously update or disable. I'm going to lean towards disabled because pop-ups are really annoying. Especially since they're now vulnerable. Go ahead and use a banner. Go ahead and open up a new tab somewhere, but don't. Pop up right. As I'm about to click something on your website, I'm immediately going to navigate away from your website. If there's a, pop-up sorry for the rant. If you're a consumer. Try grabbing a pop-up blocker from Google Chrome app store. I think Google Chrome even comes with a built in app. For blocking pop-ups. And whether or not it blocks the specific pop-up on the site that you're visiting. It will at least alert you that there is a pop-up. And allow you to confirm or deny pop-ups on that site. So better than nothing. But yeah. Totally against pop-ups as a practice, I'm really glad my WordPress site doesn't have any popups for this reason. . And [00:08:00] also for the reason to not annoy the crap out of the few website, visitors that I get. If you'd like to visit a website with no popups, no advertisements. Go ahead and check out. Daily decrypt.news. Just the words, daily decrypt.news, and you will find words and pictures and sounds. But no ads. And no pop-ups. All right. That's all we've got for you today. Quick episode. Huge. Thanks to hot girl farmer for coming on and delivering the hot breaches in who's been popped. We will talk to you some more tomorrow. [00:09:00]

Three news stories summarized & contextualized by analytic journalist Colin Wright.Canada's anti-money laundering body to leverage AI bets to crack down on bad actorsSummary: Canada's Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre, or FINTRAC, has recently increased its use of artificial intelligence tools to identify suspicious transactions a top official from the agency said earlier this week, and this has already resulted in the detection of violations that led to substantial fines for the country's two largest banks.Context: FINTRAC received authority to levy fines for financial violations in 2008, but has only collected about $23 million Canada dollars-worth during that period; these two recent fines added up to around $9 million Canadian dollars all by themselves, so this increased used of AI tools looks like it could help the agency detect more of the estimated $100-130 billion Canadian dollars-worth of money laundering that takes place in the country each year, which could help staunch that laundering, while also empowering the agency to increase its scrutiny of other illegal practices that have, until now, mostly gone undetected and unaddressed.—ReutersOne Sentence News is a reader-supported publication. To support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.India summons Maldives envoy over ministers' remarksSummary: The high commission of Maldives has been summoned by India following a series of social media posts by three Maldives officials in which they called Indian Prime Minister Modi a clown, a terrorist, and a puppet of Israel.Context: This is notable in large part because these posts have led to calls for a boycott on traveling to the Maldives on Indian social networks (and the Maldives are typically a popular destination for Indian tourists), and because there's already been tension between the two countries following a request by the Maldives' new president that Indian troops leave the country after his election last year; the Maldives have long existed within India's regional sphere of influence, and this change in governance has suggested a turn toward stronger ties with China, which India's government is not happy about; the three Maldives officials who shared the offending posts have been suspended, but as of Wednesday at least, they haven't been fired as was demanded by Indian officials.—BBC NewsMore delays for NASA's astronaut moonshots, with crew landing off until 2026Summary: On Tuesday, NASA officials announced new delays to their Artemis program schedule, pushing back their next planned flights to the Moon until 2025 and 2026.Context: The original plan was to send four astronauts to loop around the Moon in late-2024, but safety concerns related to its own and private spacecraft involved in the Artemis missions forced the agency to delay that ambition until September of 2025, and the subsequent landing of astronauts on the Moon until 2026 at the earliest; this announcement was made less than hour after a private space company's Moon lander was found to have a fuel leak after it was launched into space, ending its mission to achieve the first soft-landing on the Moon by a US-based entity in decades, and adding to existing concerns that the timeline NASA was operating under might have been too ambitious, considering the number of moving parts and unanticipated slowdowns in getting some aspects of the program safely underway. —The Associated PressPredictions about global GDP prospects in 2024 are not great, but many of the few bright spots (in the sense of seeing growth rather than stagnancy of decline) are located in Sub-Saharan Africa.—Bloomberg5.26 millionEstimated number of Chinese-made vehicles sold overseas in 2023, according to the China Passenger Car Association. That's expected to surpass Japan's number of exports by about a million vehicles, and the increase in exports from China is partially the result of sustained gas-powered vehicle demand in markets like Mexico and Russia.—The Wall Street JournalTrust Click Get full access to One Sentence News at onesentencenews.substack.com/subscribe

Tom welcomes Brett Oland, the CEO of Bow Valley Credit Union, about their gold-backed initiative. Brett has been in the banking world for 20 years and he is a chartered accountant and CPA. Brett believes that inflation is a massive problem and it will continue for the foreseeable future, resulting in the devaluation of the US dollar. Brett explains currency printing, debt to GDP ratios, and how governments have crossed the debt to GDP Rubicon. Brett also discusses the environmental hysteria surrounding the green revolution, the US sanction list, and the One Belt One Road initiative, as well as the US unfunded liabilities and the worldwide pension crisis. Tom then asked Brett about the possibility of a European nation, such as Spain, Greece, or Italy, falling as a result of the rise in DXY and commodities. Brett believes the US Federal Reserve will pivot either through quantitative easing or interest rate reductions. Brett suggests that the tool to stabilize the US balance sheet is gold, as it is globally accepted, and the US would need to couple their currency or treasuries to gold to prevent a massive deflationary event. In order to protect Bow Valley Credit Union from the potential economic downturns, Brett has created a strategy to anchor part of their balance sheet with gold. Brett believes this strategy provides an effective way to hedge against tail risks, such as a devaluation event. Brett encourages everyone to talk to their local credit union and push for change in order to protect their finances against inflation. Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced his support Monday for two Ukrainian regions as independent nations and ordered Russian troops to conduct "peacekeeping" operations there, raising fears that Russia is paving the way for an attack in Ukraine. The Biden administration announced that the U.S. will respond with limited economic sanctions, with more to come. Putin's declaration named the two regions the Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic. Both are unrecognized territories carved out by Russian-backed separatists in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine after fighting broke out there against Ukrainian government forces back in 2014. https://twitter.com/i/events/1483255084750282753?s=20 Play 0:00-1:20 Journalists pointed to the following Exchange Put had with an Intelligence Officer as evidence that the intelligence officer was saying out loud something that was not yet supposed to be spoken out loud https://twitter.com/JerryDunleavy/status/1495811749580353538?s=20&t=isASBXNeac75kP95fJ-I4A Play Audio The Reformed Sage. While most of mainstream media is trying to keep your focus on Putin, there is a dictator in the process of acting illegally far closer to home. In fact, Back in 2014, the Huffington Post ran an article by Daniel Dickin that warned that if Justin Trudea was elected the Prime Minister of Canada, He would run Canada as a dictator: https://www.huffpost.com/archive/ca/entry/trudeau-dictator_b_6314494 He wrote: This is the man who admitted he "admires China's basic dictatorship." It wasn't just a sarcastic comment - he seriously said that he admires the dictatorship because they can get things done quickly. And it's becoming clearer that Trudeau not only admires the dictatorship -- he runs the Liberal Party like one too. The leader of that party does what he wants, when he wants, and no one dares question him. Now that we know that Trudeau runs his party like a dictatorship, we must ask ourselves: is there any indication he wouldn't do the same as the leader of Canada? Would a Prime Minister Trudeau arbitrarily whip the vote and outlaw certain moral questions? Could Prime Minister Trudeau be trusted to make decisions for the good of the country, not just for his personal self-worth? Would Trudeau call in the police to enforce his vision? Let's hope we never have the opportunity to ask those questions. Unfortunately now we do: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/trudeau-government-moves-to-make-expanded-surveillance-powers-over-financial-transactions-permanent/ Nate Hochman at National Review pointed out over the weekend that one of the underreported aspects of the broader assault on Canadian civil liberties is the effort to bring crowdfunding and payment service providers — two of the most prominent routes for financial transactions on the Internet — under the permanent control of a centralized government authority. In a February 14 news conference, Canadian finance minister Chrystia Freeland said that the government was using the Emergencies Act to broaden “the scope of Canada’s anti-money-laundering and terrorist financing rules so that they cover crowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use.” That broadened power requires all forms of digital transactions, including cryptocurrencies, to be reported to the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Center of Canada. (I.e., “Fintrac”). “As of today, all crowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use must register with Fintrac, and they must report large and suspicious transactions to Fintrac,” Freeland said. She justified the move as a way to “mitigate the risk” of “illicit funds” and “increase the quality and quantity of intelligence received by Fintrac and make more information available to support investigations by law enforcement.” Trudeau, standing behind Freeland at the press conference, nodded his head in agreement. Freeland said the trucker convoy, which had assembled to protest coronavirus restrictions, had “highlighted the fact” that digital assets and funding mechanisms “weren’t captured” by the Canadian government’s pre-existing surveillance powers. As a result, she said, “the government will also bring forward legislation to provide these authorities to FinTrac on a permanent basis.” Freeland reiterated that point in a subsequent press conference this past Friday. “We reviewed very, very carefully the tools at the disposal of the federal government, and we used all the tools that we had prior to the invocation of the Emergencies Act, and we determined that we needed some additional tools,” she said. “Now some of those tools, we will be putting forward measures to put those tools permanently in place. The authorities of FinTrac, I believe, do need to be expanded to cover crowdsourcing platforms and their payment providers.” We already know what the Canadian government would do with that permanent power. They’re showing us as we speak. Trudeau has already weaponized his expanded Emergencies Act powers to “invest himself with the unilateral power to freeze bank accounts and cancel insurance policies, without so much as a court order and with essentially no recourse for those he targets.” That punitive action against political dissidents expands beyond the truckers themselves: On Wednesday, Trudeau’s justice minister suggested that private citizens who donated large sums to the convoy “ought to be worried” about the possibility of a freeze on their bank accounts, too. At least one young woman has already been fired from her job in the Ontario provincial government for making a $100 donation. And we spoke with a man on CrossPolitic who had also had this already happen to him. All this, of course, flies in the face of Trudeau’s promise that the Emergencies Act powers would be temporary. When he announced his invocation of the order, he promised the Canadian people that his expanded authorities would “be time-limited, geographically targeted, as well as reasonable and proportionate to the threats they are meant to address.” Not a single part of that sentence has proved to be true. Romanian MEP @CristianTerhes absolutely mops the floor with PM @JustinTrudeau in Brussels this week over how he's handling the Ottawa #FreedomConvoy2022 protests. https://twitter.com/cosminDZS/status/1495191350962049025?s=20&t=ZMbfXXQ4jYQtLlz_7mIGjg Believe in science – science is not supposed to be about belief but about observations, data. The King County Board of Health voted to repeal the helmet mandate because of accusations that the law was disproportionately enforced against people of color and homeless people. In 1993, King County passed the law that requires all bicyclists to wear helmets. The law was expanded to explicitly include Seattle in 2003. The law was enacted to decrease the severity of bicycling incidents. However, the community began noticing data that suggests black and homeless bicyclists were receiving more tickets than others. "Seattle Police Department data collected and analyzed by Seattle Neighborhood Greenways and the Helmet Law Working Group shows that police disproportionately gave helmet law citations to black, indigenous, and people of color cyclists," states the press release from the Public Health Insider for Seattle and King County. "Their analysis found that black riders were nearly four times as likely to be cited by police for not wearing a helmet while biking compared to white riders," the analysis reads. "Further, in Seattle, nearly half of the citations issued for biking without a helmet were given to people living homeless." Despite acknowledging that bike helmets "provide a 63-88% reduction in the risk of head and brain injuries for people who ride bikes," the King County Board of Health decided to revoke the safety law on Thursday by a vote of 11 to 2. "Helmets save lives, full stop. But the disproportional enforcement of the requirement gives us concern," said King County Councilmember Joe McDermot. "When the Board of Health first adopted a helmet mandate, helmets weren’t part of our social norms and our culture, and so the legal requirements for helmets was new and carried weight. But I think societal norms and expectations have changed significantly in the 30 years since." "The recent action from the Board of Health removes a policy that has resulted in racist enforcement, while re-emphasizing the importance of wearing a bike helmet coupled with County resources to make bike safety more accessible for all," said Dennis Worsham – interim director for Public Health in Seattle and King County. The repeal of the helmet mandate goes into effect in 30 days. In January, the Seattle Police Department announced that it would no longer enforce certain non-criminal traffic violations due to racism and equity concerns. The Seattle Police de-prioritized expired vehicle registrations and bicycle helmet violations.’ OK, now do it with vaccines, masks, and building codes. In this episode, it has become apparent Prime Minister Justin Trudeau envies dictatorships. Look at what has happened in Canada in just over three weeks since a convoy of over 50,000 truckers decided to rise up as free citizens to protest the actions of their government. While the administration is giddy with their new-found powers to oppress, thanks to invoking the Emergencies Act, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association is bringing a lawsuit against the Canadian government. In their assessment, the government has brought in an extreme measure that should be reserved for national emergencies, a legal standard that has not been met. Similarly, when MP Dane Lloyd spoke on the floor, he said, “Deputy Director of Intelligence for FINTRAC, Barry MacKillop, stated there is no evidence that this funding in Ottawa is tied to ideologically motivated extremism.” In light of that fact, he asks the Prime Mister to explain under what basis the government has in freezing accounts of Canadians? Rather than answer the question, Trudeau side-steps and reinforces his administrations commitment to follow-through on the powers they have under the Emergencies Act. And, though the House and Senate have yet to vote their approval, the police have already been loosed on the organizers. Tamara Lich was arrested yesterday just standing on the sidewalk. The arresting officers gave no reason or charge. They simply handcuffed her and took her away. It's then we are reminded of a video of the Prime Minister who spoke before an audience and talked of his envy of how the Chinese dictatorship could make things happen so quickly. He literally admires a brutal, communist regime because it can use the power of government to force the people to do whatever they want. And, within the last few days, we can see just how much he has been yearning to yield similar authority. The second subject I hit has to do with the CDC and how they have become a propaganda tool for the Administration. It's a problem that comes from being an agency under the Executive Branch. When it comes to science versus politics, if an agency is beholden to government, it will ALWAYS put politics before science. I point out several studies the CDC has used over the course of the pandemic to justify policy-making, only to find the studies were skewed, flawed or data was taken out of context. And it isn't just on occasion. Every time a policy was demanded to be put in place, the CDC found a study to help justify a new mandate. None of the studies hold up to real science. What those studies prove, more than anything, is the CDC is part of the propaganda wing of the Democrat party. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. The Slippery Slope Podcast Reuters Canada's Emergencies Act: how will it squeeze funding of the trucker protests? Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday invoked rarely-used special measures to end protests. He said he would invoke the Emergencies Act to deal with the "Freedom Convoy" protests, started on Jan. 28 by Canadian truckers opposing a vaccinate-or-quarantine mandate for cross-border drivers. They have turned into a rallying point for people opposed to a range of Trudeau's policies, including COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and a carbon tax. A declaration of a public welfare emergency allows the government to regulate the distribution of essential goods, decide what are essential services, and impose fines on violations of the act. It sets out a compensation scheme for those who suffer damages as a result of its application. KEY MEASURES ANNOUNCED ON MONDAY Banks and financial institutions will be able to temporarily freeze the accounts of those suspected of supporting the blockades, without obtaining a court order. The insurance on vehicles being used in the protests can also be suspended. All crowdfunding platforms and payment providers they use must register with Canada's anti-money laundering agency, FINTRAC, and report suspicious activities effective immediately. The act will broaden the scope of the government's anti-money laundering and terrorist financing rules to cover crowdfunding platforms. The changes are being introduced because crowdfunding platforms are being used to support illegal activities, the government said. The emergency measures would also allow the government to order towing companies to provide their services to clear blockades. Trudeau said the measures would be "geographically specific and targeted only to where they are needed." They will also be "time limited." This is just my opinion and questioning; Why is the Canadian Government using this Emergency Act when they could use diplomacy? Why is it that Trudeau runs and hides and does not listen to the concerns of the people. His immediate reaction is to stamp out the will of any dissenting voices, because how dare they disagree with me. And placing arduous restrictions on law abiding citizens and their finances under the guise of "terrorism" laws is right out of the Dictators playbook. Yet Canada is not the first of the Western Governments have decided to use powers against the people they are elected to serve instead of working with them.

The Roy Green Show Podcast - Global News analysis reveals provinces across Canada largely fail to successfully tackle these financial crimes, with roughly three quarters of people accused going free.  The conviction rate is about 27%.  "It's scandalous" said forensic accountant Matt McGuire, who previously worked for FINTRAC, Canada's watchdog against money laundering.  "It's quite clear the system isn't working. It's mind boggling." Roy is joined by Andrew Russel, the national online investigative journalist with Global News who covered this story. In B.C., opinion is strongly in favour of a public inquiry into organized crime and money laundering in the province. In fact, in a province-wide poll conducted by IPSOS for Global News, a B.C. money laundering public inquiry is backed by every demographic that was asked. Roy speaks with CKNW host and columnist with the Vancouver Province Mike Smyth, and later with Vice President of IPSOS Sean Simson The campaign for the October 21 federal election is clearly unofficially already underway. Two key regions in Canada for the vote are the Western provinces and Quebec. Angus Reid polling continues its review of Western Canadian attitude with its most recent polling release showing voters west of Ontario are open to a new 'Western Canada Party.'  What does the poll reveal and what are the broader implications of the numbers? Leger polling in Quebec shows the Trudeau Liberals have a very comfortable lead among Quebec voters, while Andrew Scheer's Conservatives manages only to effectively come in tied with the separatist and resurgent Bloc Quebecois. What's going in Quebec? Do you have a common cold or the flu? That is the same question we find ourselves asking every year around this time. Jaston Tetro, a.k.a. “The Germ Guy,” explains how to tell the difference. And according to Global News, Measles cases tripled in Europe last year, reaching the highest it's been in a decade. Meanwhile there are concerns over superbugs being brought home to Canada by medical tourists. Jason Tetro gives his advice and thoughts on these issues. Guests: Andrew Russell, national online journalist Mike Smyth.  Vancouver Province political columnist and CKNW host. Sean Simpson, Vice president of IPSOS polling Shachi Kurl. Exec Dir Angus Reid Institute, from Vancouver Christian Bourque.  Partner and senior vice president of Leger Marketing, from Montreal. We spend our pre-holidays reading, so you do not. It's terrorism report day on A Podcast Called INTREPID. We circle back to the CSIS director's speech two weeks ago to tease out the discussion on terrorism issues. Then we do a diagnostic of the 2018 Terrorism Threat to Canada report. We argue about it a little, nitpicking all the way, before talking about the “45 Day Report” on foreign fighters tabled by the government in the House of Commons, also last week. Then to keep things jolly, we dive into the new Canada Centre (against a lot of bad radicalization to violence things — it's a long title) report on countering violent radicalization, but end with a discussion with Jessica Davis about the new, and unprecedented FINTRAC report on threat financing. This is our penultimate podcast for 2018. But we'll be back with our “Christmas special” next week.
