Medvirkende: Per Bausager & Anders Mielke
Rose Manley and Jo Rowsell cast their eye over one of the most hotly anticipated races of the year, Milano-Sanremo Donne. The last time the race was staged for women was 20 years ago, leaving plenty of intrigue over how it would be approached by this current crop of riders. This season's battle of SD Worx versus Demi Vollering was expected to continue into this race. The Dutch team boasted both World Champion Lotte Kopecky and super sprinter Lorena Wiebes in their line-up, making them the team to beat. However, former alumnus Vollering – now of FDJ Suez – got the better of them at Strade Bianche and looked to do it again on the famous climbs of the Cipressa and Poggio. There were plenty of contenders for the inaugural Milano Sanremo Donne title elsewhere too. Trofeo Binda champion Elisa Balsamo heads up Lidl-Trek, Elisa Longo Borghini looks to make a big impression as Italian champion and Kasia Niewiadoma races for the first time since her Strade Bianche crash. With old grudges and new rivalries playing out on the gravel roads of Tuscany, Strade Bianche offered up plenty to talk about in this month's episode of The Cycling Podcast Féminin. Rose Manley and Denny Gray are joined by cycling broadcaster Rebecca Charlton to discuss all the juicy details, plus they look ahead to the return of Milan-Sanremo with a mini-feature about the race's predecessor, the Primavera Rosa. Ever since Demi Vollering's move to FDJ-Suez and Anna Van der Breggen announced her return to the peloton last year, anticipation of a fierce rivalry between the pair has been rising. After Strade Bianche and their first meeting at Setmana Valenciana, it is fair to say that the match-up has already more than exceeded expectations. Van der Breggen has proven to be the only rider in the peloton capable of matching Vollering for power and tactical nous, although Vollering has thus far always come away with the spoils. Strade Bianche also saw former world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot take third place, in her first spring Classic since 2018. Plus the race was a welcome showcase for the top riders in the peloton after something of a stalemate at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad which saw a surprise victory for Lotte Claes. In anticipation of the inaugural Milano-Sanremo Donne, we take a look back at the race's precursor – the Primavera Rosa – which ran for seven editions from 1999 until 2005. The race took place on the last 118 kilometres of the men's Milan-Sanremo, on the same day and included the same Poggio and Cipressa climbs and Via Roma finish. We offer up a potted history of those editions and hear some first-hand accounts from people that were there including Marion Clignet, podium finishers Chantal Beltman and Ina Teutenberg, 2005 champion Trixi Worrack and photographer Mario Prato. Also on the agenda, hippopotamus races, bumping into your ex with 30 toilet rolls and the battle of the names: Nienke Vinke vs Lotte Claes.
In episode 38 of DineDrinkCLE: The Podcast, hosts Josh Duke and Alex Darus talk about two new restaurants in Greater Cleveland – the Friars' Table downtown and Via Roma in North Royalton. Plus, Paris Wolfe stops by to chat about clambakes in Cleveland before Peter Chakerian discusses the tradition of chili cook-offs in Northeast Ohio.
Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This week's episode of The Cycling Podcast comes from the latest stop on Daniel Friebe's springtime Mediterranean tour, Mallorca, and precisely the home of Eurosport commentator Rob Hatch. That pair are joined by journalist Richard Abraham, as we revisit some of the most compelling storylines from Milan-Sanremo at the weekend. Jasper Philipsen's victory on Via Roma meant heartache for Tadej Pogačar and his UAE Team Emirates team - and prompted questions about their strategy. Will Pog now have to rethink his not-yet-winning formula in La Classicissima, particularly in light of his newly declared ambition to become the greatest rider in history? Speaking of history, in a special investigation, Daniel sets off in search of a piece of Sanremo's. And, speaking of the future, Mathieu van der Poel has just committed the next decade to one company, as Rob reports. NordVPN This episode is supported by NordVPN. Halloween is approaching and everywhere here and there you hear tales that want to scare, stuff on TV, and even the various private channels like Netflix are offering things that are supposed to be scary. But if we think about it, what are the elements that cause what we normally call fear? I honestly don't know. There is definitely the element of surprise, when something, someone or something comes out from around a corner, there is the somewhat horrifying element, when there are scenes with blood, and there is suspense, when we don't know what is going to happen to the main character, then, what else is there? Let me think. There is fear when we already know what is going to happen and we see the protagonist going towards his fate unaware, that is also something that... In fact, maybe these ones are the situations that I find the scariest, when there is the protagonist we already know what is going to happen however he does not know it he goes almost blindly.I like scary movies, but I can't watch them because then they come back to me, I don't want them to come back to me because I embroider on them, I do all my own, yes, I get into them.I don't know, actually, because I don't like scary movies. I remember going to see The Shining when it came out in theatres, and I went with my high school classmate, Sandro, and we went to the harbour cinema, at that time there was still the cinema under the arcades in Via Roma in Cagliari, and after seeing The Shining we went around the dark and deserted streets, it was winter, being afraid. It's been ages since I went to the movies to see scary movies. Maybe I should resume, though. For example, I'd like to see The Blair Witch Project again, which is a movie where you can't see anything, just the fact that you don't, here, maybe this is the last scary movie I've seen in the theatre, the fact that you can't see anything is the scariest thing.

Pinsa Pizza - The Next Big Thing in Pizza - Biagio Ceppollaro and Chef Tony Smithsonian Associates - Not Old Better Show Interview Series Welcome to The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates Interview Series on radio and podcast. I'm Paul Vogelzang and today's show is a lot of fun, at least for me, and hopefully for all of you, even in absentia. Apogolies for being cryptic here, but we're talking about pizza today, and I get to sample some, going to Washington DC's newest pizza hot spot, Via Roma, for what is being called by patrons and reviewers the ‘best pizza on the planet.' There are many kinds of pizza to try in the D.C. area: Neapolitan, New York slices, Detroit-style squares, and more. But have you tried pinsa? It's a Roman-style pizza made with dough that blends rice, soy, and wheat. It proofs up to 72 hours and contains 90 percent water, making it lighter than traditional pizza. Pinsa comes from Latin “pinsere” meaning “push the dough by hands,” and while the variety is still pretty much unknown both in Italy and in the United States, it is starting to catch on with fans. I mentioned Via Roma, which is now the first “pinseria” in Maryland. Our guests today are Via Roma partner and operator Biagio Cepollaro and chef partner Tonino Topolino, also known as ‘Chef Tony,' both hail proudly from Naples and their shared passion for pizza has culminated in a restaurant that reflects the ambiance, colors, and vibrancy of the beautiful thoroughfare Via Roma in their hometown. In addition to pinsa, the restaurant's menu features homemade pasta and other Italian staples like arancini, meatballs, and tiramisu. Join me and Biagio Cepollaro and Chef Tony, Tonino Topolino for a three-course interview today featuring the next big thing in pizza. Between courses, uh, I mean our interview, we'll hear about the origins of pinsa and why the partners brought it to the area, as well as how each dish is prepared and how you might replicate it at home. Lunch includes an appetizer, pinsa, and dessert; uh, again, apologies, I mean the interview will be very desert like, and you'll enjoy it as much as me! Please join me in welcoming to The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates Interview Series on radio and podcast, Smithsonian Associates, Biagio Cepollaro and Chef Tony, Tonino Topolino. My thanks to Smithsonian Associates, Biagio Cepollaro and Chef Tony, Tonino Topolino. And, you can find Chef Tony and Biagio Cepollaro at Smithsonian Associates coming soon, with more details available at our website and Smithsonian Associates. My thanks to the Smithsonian team for all they do to support the show. My thanks to you, my wonderful audience here on The Not Old Better Show on radio and podcast. Please be safe, be well, and let's let's enjoy pizza, especially pinsa : The next BIG thing in pizza, so we can talk about Better. The Not Old Better Show on radio and podcast. Thanks, everybody and we'll see each other next week right here at notold-better.com https://smithsonianassociates.org/ticketing/tickets/pinsa?utm_source=RAad&utm_content=FEauto&utm_campaign=featevent

On today's episode, Annie Sargent brings you a trip report with Rick McGuirk about his 5 favorite chateaux in the Loire Valley. There are so many chateaux along the Loire Valley that it’s hard to choose which ones to go to and which ones to skip. You could spend a couple of months there if you wanted to see them all. So, just in case you don't have that kind of time, let's see which ones are must-sees. Rick and his wife have visited France many times, but this was their first time exploring the Loire Valley. They don't speak French beyond "bonjour", "au revoir" and "une carafe d'eau" but that wasn't a problem. So long as you know the magic word in French, you'll be OK! 5 Favorite Chateaux in the Loire Valley On this trip they stayed in Paris for 5 days then took the TGV from Montparnasse to Gare de Saint-Pierre-des-Corps in Tour where they picked up a rental car. It is wise to reserve your rental car from home, especially if you'd like to drive an automatic! Distances between the chateaux are usually 30 to 45 minute drive and those drives are scenic and enjoyable. Rick's top 5 Chambord Cheverny Chemonceau Amboise Vilandry Take-Away from this Episode You could visit the 5 favorite chateaux in the Loire Valley in 2 days, but 3 would be better. They saw 10 places in 4 days as listed below, and it would have been better to cut a couple of them off. Maybe I should have asked him for a top 6 list so that he could have included Azay-le-Rideau which I've enjoyed personally. If you need to choose between staying in Chinon or staying in Amboise, Amboise is probably a better choice because it is a bigger cleaner town and there are more dining and shopping choices. Keep in mind that the Loire Valley is not where you go for great night-life but rather for gorgeous architecture, gardens and scenery. It is a peaceful, quiet soul-full type of vacation. Most of these chateaux are in rural France, pay attention to opening and closing times and the infrequent availability of stores compared to what you're used to. Hotels Recommended in this Episode They stayed at a lovely quaint hotel in Chinon for 2 nights. French manor house with lovely furniture, beams on the ceiling, beautiful floors. Amazing breakfast. But Chinon the city is a smaller town, it may be difficult to find anything open in the middle of the day, especially if you're on foot. They enjoyed La Cabane à Vin in Chinon. They preferred the city of Amboise where they found a lovely hotel. An old remodeled manor house with spacious rooms, wonderful staff, great location overlooking the Loire River and central to the town. Plus the staff was extra kind to them when they found out that Rick's mother-in-law passed away while they were in France. Vilandry The formal gardens are spectacular in October: flowers, pears, pretty grounds. This is a beautiful French Garden style and there are nice gardens behind the chateau as well. Definitely plan time to explore the grounds. Vilandry is furnished more than other chateaux, but the best part is seeing the grounds. Azay-le-Rideau More furniture and amazing rooms at Azay-le-Rideau, but the grounds weren't as nice as Vilandry even though the water all around the chateau is beautiful. Abbey Royale de Fontevraud Finding the parking-lot can be tricky, it's a big place, somewhat empty, has a lot of both illustrious and infamous history. It was not a favorite of theirs. Chateau d'Ussé About a 30 minute drive, easy to find with a GPS. The building itself is amazing. They say it was the inspiration for Disney's Cinderella Castle. A lot of the chateau is in great condition, so are the stables. The Café Dechemin Eric had a great view onto the chateau but the food was just OK. Chateau de Chinon This is more of a fortress than a chateau, the views from the chateau are lovely, but the place itself has a lot of military history. The chateau at Amboise might be a better choice if you can only see one. They had dinner at a restaurant called Au Chapeau Rouge that comes highly recommended everywhere but they didn't feel welcome there and the food was mediocre and not cheap. To be avoided. Amboise Both the chateau, the grounds and the city of Amboise are wonderful. Definitely one of the best they saw. There are a lot of signs in the Amboise chateau and you should spend some time reading them because the history is wonderful. It would be a good idea to have lunch at the chateau, you can sit on the terrace and enjoy great views. Le Clos Lucé This is the chateau where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last few years of his life after being invited by the King to be the resident genius. The chateau itself is not as large or as fancy, but the grounds are wonderful and there are a lot of displays for the kids to see. This chateau has a lot of da Vinci themed stuff in the gift shop. Restaurant near the chateau Via Roma, it was good to have some Italian food, not many tourists there, a great choice. Royal Chateau d'Amboise This is a military castle, it is well preserved, great views. Not very large, but a great visit, highly recommended. They went back to eat at a place called Chez Bruno twice, lots of locals, nice food, but reserve because it fills up. Chateau Cheverny Cheverny is a great chateau with an interesting look and a great story. The family that owns the chateau still lives there at least part-time. There is a lot to see inside the chateau as well, this is a must-do. It doesn't have the high-end formal gardens that other chateaux have but it has dogs. You must plan to be there during dog feeding time (get there early, lots of people want to see it!) There are 50 or 60 dogs and it's great to watch the 20 or 30 minute "show". The dogs are in great condition and trained well. Great for children and people who like Tintin as well. Chateau de Chambord This one is the most spectacular, it's the biggest one and grand beyond description. There are a lot of rooms open for touring and they are enormous. Many of them are unfurnished, possibly because it wasn't lived-in very much. Don't miss the double-helix staircase. You can go every which way around the chateau, climb to the top, it's a great visit. There's a food court there and it's OK. One Word of Caution in Closing They knew the Hertz location where they rented the car would be closed when they were to drop-off the car. They were told to leave the car in the parking lot and put the keys in the mailbox. Unfortunately there were no spots left to park until a train arrived and a few people took their cars to go home. Don't be in a rush if you need to leave the car at the train station parking lot! Email | Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter Did you get my VoiceMap Paris tours yet?
V Taliansku je bez pochýb najväčšia cyklistická superstar a k nesmrteľnosti mu chýba snáď už iba zisk dúhového dresu. Bravúrne načasovaný únik na Poggiu prekvapil všetkých zúčastnených a na Via Roma si pripísal do svojho palmarès ďalší monument. Hlavným ťahákom najbližších dní sú opäť belgické klasiky. Peter Sagan v nich vyzve GVA a ďalšiu dvadsiatku top hitterov.

On this episode of the Healthy Wealthy and Smart Podcast, physiotherapist Alister Cran joins me to share his insights on treating the extreme sport competitor. Alister is a private practice physiotherapy owner in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia. He assists with the Nitro Circus Live Tour of New Zealand and pursues his passion for sports physiotherapy treating a variety of high level athletes. In this episode, we discuss: -How to leverage opportunities early in your career to gain access to high level athletes -Tailoring your social media presence to your ideal patient population -Do you need to be a high level athlete to treat one? -Managing expectations for return to sport following injury for high level performers -And so much more! To break into treating high level athletes and performers, oftentimes you have to sacrifice financial benefits for once in a lifetime opportunities. To break into niche industries, Alister recommends taking advantage of any exposure to your patient population and, “doing it for the experience,” after which good things will likely follow. To reach the high level athlete, pursuing doctor referrals is wasted time as Alister finds younger athletes are likely to spend more of their time on social media. To make the most of your online presence and build brand awareness, Alister believes, “You’ve got to post consistently.” Outlining the costs and benefits of an early return to sport and managing expectations can be challenging for extreme sport competitors. Alister advices, “Unless they are in the hospital, they are probably going to go back up that ramp.” Convincing show coordinators who view athletes as commodities can be even more challenging because, “There’s politics in physio and action sports.” For more information on Alister: Graduated Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2012. Got a job with a Sydney based Physiotherapy practice ‘Bodyworks Physiotherapy’. Through bodyworks physiotherapy I began to treat extreme sports clients. I provided the physiotherapy for the Nitro Circus Live tours of both Australia and New Zealand. In addition to this, while still based in Sydney, provided the physiotherapy for the red bull ‘cape fear’ event. After a few years, came back to the Gold Coast and started working in a nursing home during the day and opened a room inside Funk Fitness gym at the beginning of 2016 outside of the 9-5 working hours of the nursing home. After about 4 months, I had saved up enough money and built up enough of a client base to not have to rely on the income of the nursing home anymore and have now worked full time out of a few rooms in the Isle of Capri shopping centre, Capri on Via Roma. After coming back to the gold coast and opening Physio on Capri practice, I have maintained a relationship with bodywork physiotherapy and have been fortunate enough to be offered the Nitro Circus Live Brisbane show and the exhibition Ice Hockey match (Canada vs. USA). In addition to this, I was also offered the American and European leg of the Nitro Circus Live tour.
