Moin und willkommen zum Fleckenhörer am 30. Juni! Seit 2007 findet in Jamel (MeckPom) ein Open-Air Festival gegen Rechtsextremismus statt. Nun versuchen Gemeinde und der Landkreis dem Festival ökonomisch und rechtlich den Stecker zu ziehen. Jamel ist ein kleines Dorf mit weniger als 40 Bewohner:innen und gilt seit Anfang der 1990er-Jahre als Hochburg der rechtsextremen Szene. Seit Monaten wird vor Gericht um eine Gebührenrechnung gerungen: die Veranstalter:innen sollen dieses Jahr nämlich knapp 8.000 € bezahlen. In einem ersten Eilverfahren verloren sie im Mai vor dem Verwaltungsgericht Schwerin. Dann folgte die Ankündigung des Landkreises vermutlich ein Alkoholverbot zu verfügen und auch zwei Parkplätze, die in den Jahren zuvor genutzt werden durften, nicht mehr bereit zu stellen. In diesem Verfahren verloren die Veranstalter:innen vor 4 Tagen ebenfalls in einem Eilverfahren. Unverdrossen werben die Veranstalter:innen für das Festival, aber aktuell ist offen, ob es so wie bisher wird stattfinden können. Mittels Verwaltungsentscheidungen, missliebigen linken Events und Strukturen die ökonomische und rechtliche Basis zu entziehen hat Tradition in Deutschland und wird in den kommenden Jahren eher noch weiter zunehmen. Um so wichtiger erscheint es, sich mit aller Kraft gegen solche Praktiken zu verteidigen! Verteidigen muss man auch den CSD Neumünster am 5. Juli, der ebenfalls von rechter Seite bedroht wird. Der Christopher Street Day ist nicht bloß eine Feier, sondern eine bedeutsame Demonstration für die Rechte und die Sichtbarkeit der LGBTQIA+ Gemeinschaft. In Zeiten, in denen Diskriminierung und Intoleranz noch immer Realität sind, ist es entscheidend, dass wir gemeinsam ein Zeichen für Gleichberechtigung und Akzeptanz setzen. - Wir reden mit Jascha von und über die QueerPride Dresden. "Queer & Antifascist - Unsere Brücken halten!" so das passende Motto der diesjährigen QueerPride. Aber neben Dresden, Fragen nach dem Unterschied zum dortigen CSD, geht es vor allem um Sachsen, die Vorfälle z.B. in Bautzen letztes Jahr, Bad Freienwalde neuerlich oder der 1. CSD in Borna dieses Jahr. Sind rechte Angriffe bei einer neuen Qualität angelangt und was bedeuten die öfter zum ersten Mal auftauchenden Prides und CSDs abseits der "Metropolen" gleichzeitig? - Verschiedenes, natürlich, aus Sachsen!

Ist es das Ende des Pinkwashing? In der vergangenen Woche hat der Berliner CSD Alarm geschlagen: mehrere Unternehmen haben ihr Sponsoring deutlich zurückgefahren. Der Pride fehlten inzwischen rund 200.000 Euro an geplanten Einnahmen. Ähnliches vermelden die Organisator*innen der Cologne Pride. Was die beiden CSDs gemeinsam haben: es sind mehrheitlich US-Firmen, die ihre finanzielle Unterstützung zurückgezogen haben. Woran das liegen könnte und wie andere Prides in Deutschland mit dem Rückzug von US-Unternehmen von den Prides umgehen, hört ihr in dieser Folge. Was im Leipziger Umland bittere Notwendigkeit ist, wird in der Großstadt Leipzig immer noch wenig zusammengedacht: Queerer Aktivismus und Antifa-Arbeit. Dies ist umso bemerkenswerter, als die Gegenseite ganz anders arbeitet: Allianzen zwischen der extremen Rechten und demkonservativen Milieu funktionieren häufig über geteilteQueerfeindlichkeit und Antifeminismus. Live aus einem queeren Space - der Pixibar - haben wir in dieser Folge mit verschiedenen Aktivist:innen gesprochen. Josie von Queeres Döbeln, hat uns von den CSDs und dem Aktivismus im Umland erzählt hat. Außerdem haben wir mit Caro von der Fantifa Leipzig gesprochen, die unter anderem das Thema Repressionen gegen Flinta für uns eingeordnet hat (#FreeMaja). Mit dabei war auch Pawel, queerer Aktivist, der neben vielen weiteren auch zum Thema Migration arbeitet und für uns die Zusammenarbeit und Spaltungsmomente zwischen unterschiedlichen Gruppen und den Stellenwert queeren Aktivismus' in Polen geschildert. Und zuletzt gesprochen haben wir mit Pelle von chronik.LE, die das Thema aus einer dokumentarischen Perspektive in den Blick genommen hat.

Wir schreiben das Jahr 2025 und wir hätten selbst nicht gedacht, dass wir als queere Menschen nicht mehr nur für MEHR Rechte, sondern dafür kämpfen müssen, unsere aktuellen Rechte überhaupt behalten zu dürfen. Hallo Ihr Lieben, nach einer Sendung ohne Befindlichkeiten gibt's diesmal umso mehr davon; dafür wenig Social Media Zitate. Ein Abstecher aus der Ukraine nach Russland bringt nicht nur Memes, sondern auch Fregen zum Kriegsvölkerrecht, die wir nicht abschließend klären können. Dann ein harter Übergang zum abgesagten Konzert von Taylor Swift in Wien mit einem Abstecher in die Welt der Musik. Unterschiedliche Verläufe der CSDs in Bautzen und Leipzig sind Thema, das neue BKA-Gesetz auch. Zum Schluß stellen wir fest: Boings Starliner taugt nicht als Raumschiff, allenfalls als WTF. Kein Monat mehr bis zum Ja-Wort und so langsam wird die Zeit knapp für Mitch und Maurice. Wo es gerade bei den Hochzeitsvorbereitungen klemmt und wo es vielleicht sogar richtig gut läuft, erfährst du in dieser neuen Ausgabe der Dachboden Revue. Außerdem beschäftigen sich die Zwei mit der Frage, warum es die meisten CSD-Besucher:innen immer "nur" zu den großen Paraden nach Köln, Berlin oder Hamburg zieht. Dabei zeigt das Beispiel von Bautzen vor knapp 2 Wochen, wie wichtig es ist, dass auch CSDs in Klein- und Mittelstädten besucht werden um Zeichen zu setzen, die auch gesehene werden. Und dann ist da noch die Sache mit dem Spoiler-Alarm. Maurice ärgert es, dass er die Auflösungen zu seinen Lieblings Reality-TV Shows immer schon vorher auf Social Media sieht. Er hat aber auch schon eine Idee, wie man das verbessern kann, doch ist diese Idee auch so praktisch? Du erfährst es in der neuen Ausgabe der "Dachboden Revue".

Wir schauen zurück auf die Woche und sprechen natürlich zuerst über die neue Variante vom Virus MPox und was darüber gerade bekannt ist. Außerdem hat die FDP diese Woche ein Papier zu ihrer Verkehrspolitik vorgestellt. Darin wird wieder mehr Raum für Autos in Innenstädten gefordert. Aber wie realistisch sind die Pläne? Und warum ausgerechnet jetzt? Außerdem geht's noch um den CSD in Bautzen am vergangenen Sonntag, der nur mit viel Polizeischutz möglich war, weil zeitgleich eine Gegendemo stattfand. Auch für weitere CSDs haben sich schon u.a. rechtsextreme Gruppen zum Gegenprotest angekündigt. Ist das eine neue Entwicklung? Warum werden queere Menschen Opfer von rechtsextremer Gewalt? In this conversation at the Review of Democracy, eminent psephologist and political analyst Sanjay Kumar discusses the recently concluded elections in India. Kumar weighs in on some of the unique features of the Indian elections in 2024, the emerging patterns of change, and what the election verdicts mean for democracy and politics in the Global South.   Sanjay Kumar is currently a Professor at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi. He served as the Director of CSDS from January 2014 till January 2020. His main area of research has been elections in India and voting behaviour. Kumar has also conducted research on other themes such as youth in India and the state of democracy in South Asia. His latest books are Elections in India: An Overview (2022) and Women Voters in Indian Elections: Changing Trends and Emerging Patterns (2022). His earlier publications include Post-Mandal Politics in Bihar: Changing Electoral Patterns (2018), Changing Electoral Politics in Delhi: From Caste to Class (2013) and Measuring Voting Behaviour in India (2013). He has been an Election Observer in numerous countries. He is also a prominent face in Indian media.

In Berlin bemühten sich unter anderem Mercedes Benz, die Deutsche Telekom, Amazon, Siemens Energy, Vattenfall, Allianz, die Commerzbank, IKEA und die Deutsche Bahn um die Gunst der bunten Community. (1) Diesem Boom der kommerzialisierten Identitätspolitik könnte marktlogisch bald der Absturz folgen – Eine heilsame Herausforderung für postmoderne Aktivisten?Jeder Trend geht irgendwann zu Ende, jede Mode wird früher oder später hässlich, verschleißt und landet auf dem Müll. Nun könnte diese Zwangsläufigkeit die postmoderne Identitätspolitik erwischen. Das war absehbar, denn spätestens als aus einem legitimen politischen Anliegen – der Emanzipation Menschen mit nichtweißer Hautfarbe und sexuellen Minderheiten – eine PR-Strategie wurde, hatten linke Kräfte die Deutungshoheit über ihre progressiven Ziele den Marktinteressen ihrer eigentlichen Widersacher überlassen. Sie ließen sich vor den Karren spannen und wurden zu bloßen Symbolen degradiert, zu Tokens – Erfüllungsgehilfen, die nur den Anschein von Fortschritt erwecken, ohne nachhaltige Veränderung zu bewirken. Ob der Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Pirna am Wochenende die Nachrichten verfolgt hat? Wenn ja hat er friedliche Menschen dabei beobachten können, wie sie für die liebe und ihre Grundrechte gewaltfrei protestiert haben! Der CSD in Pirna stand in diesem Jahr besonders im Auge der Öffentlichkeit, nachdem der Oberbürgermeister zuerst das hissen der Regenbogenflagge während des Pride-Monats verweigert hatte und die Flagge dann sogar mit anderen, zurecht verbotenen, Flaggen der früheren NS-Zeit verglich. Für viele Menschen aus Pirna und ganz Deutschland ging das zu weit! Wir waren vor Ort um zu sehen, wie die Stadt und der CSD in diesem Jahr mit so viel Aufmerksamkeit umgehen. Auch Drag Queen Meryl Deep hatten die Schlagzeilen damals schockiert und zu einer Aktion geführt: der ersten Tour für Toleranz. Mit einem vollen Bus Interessierter hat sich Meryl am Samstag auf den Weg nach Pirna gemacht und Solidarität demonstriert. Moin zum Fleckenhörer am 1. Juli 2024. Am 1. Juli ist der Internationale Tag der Früchte – International Fruit Day. Über den tieferen Sinn solcher „Feiertage“ kann man trefflich streiten; zumal ja schon die ein oder andere Einzelfrucht ihren eigenen Ehrentag hat. So wird in diesem Jahr etwa dem Granatapfel die Ehre zuteil, „Obst des Jahres 2024“ zu sein. Der Gewinner hat 17,47 % aller Stimmen bekommen. Das sind genau so viele Stimmen wie die AfD in Neumünster bei der Europawahl bekommen hat. Politisches Obst des Tages ist für mich heute Alexander Kähler, der die Berichterstattung zum AfD-Bundesparteitag beim Fernsehsender Phoenix leitete. Ein Aushängeschild für die Unfähigkeit des Öffentlich-Rechtlichen Rundfunks, so über die AfD zu berichten wie es ihr gebührt, nämlich indem man ihre Unwahrheiten und Falschaussagen korrekt einordnet und den Interviewten Paroli bietet. Aber zu Beginn noch etwas Erbauliches. Am Samstag, 29. Juni, ab 13.30 Uhr fand der erste Christopher Street Day mit Umzug in Neumünster statt, der vom Oberbürgermeister eröffnet wurde. Laut Polizei sollen 300 Teilnehmende unter dem Motto „Regenbogentag in Neumünster – sichtbar, sicher, frei“ dabei gewesen sein. Die nächsten CSDs finden am 13. Juli in Kiel, am 16./17. August in Lübeck, am 14. September in Elmshorn und am 28. September in Husum statt. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has built a formidable presence in the global securities services industry over the 35 years that have elapsed since it signed a contract to build a computer system for the Swiss central securities depository (CSD) back in 1989. Today, TCS owns a dominant share of the CSD technology market, and its TCS Bancs system is widely used by the custodian banks that are the gatekeepers to the CSDs as well. But the company has now moved far beyond the sale of software licences to provide both IT and full operational outsourcing services. Diligenta, its life and pensions outsourcing service in the United Kingdom, now looks after two in five British holders of pension plans and life assurance policies. A business which provides software products, Cloud-based technology and data hosting and processing and end-to-end operational support is not well-described as either a software vendor or a technology consultant, and certainly not as a data vendor, but its combination of businesses does look well-designed to exploit the age of blockchain. Blockchain, after all, is an Internet computing technology that can in theory digitise anything and everything into an executable data object. Accordingly, it can provide a solid foundation for financial markets as well as payments, supply chains, corporate networks, social networks, digital identities, artificial intelligence (AI) and the virtual realities of the Metaverse. Which is why TCS has also developed blockchain capabilities that enable companies to issue, trade, safekeep and service tokenised assets, and move those assets on and off and between blockchain networks. The securities and the fund markets need to be digitally transformed. The profits of the asset and wealth management industries are being squeezed by shrinking fees and rising costs. Tokenisation of both funds and the underlying securities can, properly construed, solve the problem. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of tokenisations of securities and funds are more like securitisations than tokenisations. Like mortgage-backed securities, they are asset-backed. Which means they are not truly digital assets at all but mere derivatives of assets which continue to exist in their traditional form, whether that is physical (as with real estate or precious metals) or digital (an oft-cited paradox is that most securities and funds exist only as digital entries in computer systems already). As a result, the medley of intermediary institutions that has developed over decades to support the traditional funds and securities industries remains undisturbed as well. This is, of course, the attraction of asset-backed tokenisation. It threatens no incumbent business with disintermediation and requires minimal changes to the existing corpus of securities and fund markets laws and regulations. But it is also the problem, because it changes next to nothing. According to SIFMA, the revenues of the global investment banking industry alone took an average of US$92.4 billion a year out of the capital markets between 2018 and 2022. But the exchanges that list securities, the brokers that execute trades on exchanges, the custodians that safekeep securities, the fund accountants that value securities, the transfer agents that maintain registers of holders of securities, the central counterparty clearing houses (CCPs) that intermediate and net trades and the central securities depositories (CSDs) that settle trades all have to be paid as well. So it is not surprising that tokenisation of securities and funds is not taking off – it has yet to be tried seriously. On 17 November 2023 Christine Lagarde, the President of the European Central Bank (ECB), told a conference of bankers that “a truly European capital market needs consolidated market infrastructures.”[1] European capital markets certainly lack them now. They are a quarter the size of the American capital market yet support three times as many stock exchanges, and 20 times as many post-trade financial market infrastructures. The lack of a European equivalent of the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) does not reflect a lack of regulatory effort. A succession of reports and schemes – Codes of Conduct, several pan-European regulations and even an entirely new settlement system run by the ECB (T2S) – dating back nearly a quarter of a century have largely failed to accelerate the consolidation of the capital market infrastructures of Europe. The price of that failure, in a higher cost of capital, a less resilient financial system and lower rates of innovation and economic growth, is more evident than ever in the aftermath of Brexit, amid a steady closing of open markets, and ahead of looming demographic and climate crises. Diplomats, policy-makers and experts gathered at the Brussels Indo-Pacific Dialogue, hosted by our partners at the Center for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy.Participants shared their insights on the key issues that make this moment arguably the most consequential since World War II: conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, trade wars, supply chains, economic security, artificial intelligence, and more. To better understand what's at stake, CSDS-Asia Matters' Andrew Peaple traveled to Brussels to speak with several panelists. Highlights include Ambassador Caroline Millar of Australia explaining how she sees the strategic partnership with the European Union, beyond NATO and other alliances; Taiwan's representative to the EU, Roy Chun Lee, talked about Europe's approach to the One China policy and trade security; Han-koo Yeo, a former trade minister of South Korea, shared his views on globalization and inter-reliance. Andrew also spoke with Charles Edel from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Alan Chong from the Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore, Anit Mukherjee from the India Institute at King's College London, and Cheng Ting-Fang, Chief Tech Correspondent for Nikkei Asia.

BastiMasti war mal wieder beruflich im Ausland. Dieses Mal auf der TwitchCon in Frankreich. Dabei suhlte er sich in den Vorzügen der Lounge der Reichen und Schönen. Doch in seinem Bericht von Mini-Cheeseburgern, Gratis-Catering und in Blasen lebenden Streamenden (m/w/d), stach eine Geschichte besonders hervor. Darmstadts dampfendster Vaporizer erschnorrte sich erfolgreich Tabakwaren, um zu netzwerken. Dabei stieß er zufällig auf einen alten Kommilitonen vom damaligen Mensa-Stammgast und heutigen Internetstar anredo. Im Podcast hört ihr, welche Geheimnisse Basti ihm entlocken konnte. CSD stands for Community Service Deputies. They're the Swiss Army knives of the Collier County Sheriff's Office, doing a little bit of everything to keep citizens safe. A new Lokniti-CSDS study on political trends in the run-up to 2024 throws up some interesting findings. Rahul Gandhi's acceptability as PM has doubled since 2014, with non-Congress voters leading the rise, while Narendra Modi's appeal is pretty much unchanged since 2019. A survey of nearly 10,000 people carried out for the Status of Policing in India Report 2023 suggests a high level of support for certain forms of government surveillance but reveals a lack of public awareness regarding critical issues such as the Pegasus spying scandal. The report, prepared by the NGO Common Cause and Lokniti, CSDS, finds that three out of four people believe CCTVs can help monitor and reduce crime. The poor, Adivasis, Dalits and Muslims are the least trusting of the police. Interestingly, 44 per cent of those surveyed across 12 states and union territories believe that the police should not have the freedom to check people's phones without a warrant.  So, what is the bigger picture from the survey? Why choose this theme at this time? How does surveillance impact dissent? 

Sanjay Kumar is Professor and Co-Director of Lokniti, a Research Programme at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies. His core area of research is Electoral Politics, but using survey method as research tool he has been engaged in conducting research on very wide range of themes-Indian Youth, State of Democracy in South Asia, State of Indian Farmers, Slums of Delhi and Electoral Violence. He has published widely, written several books, edited volumes, contributed chapters for several edited volumes, published articles in various national and international research journals. His most recent book is Elections in India: An Overview. His articles are published regularly in The Hindu, Indian Express, Asian Age, Deccan Chronicles, Dainik Bhaskar, Rajasthan Patrika and The Mint. He is also a well know face on Indian Television as Psephologist and Political Commentator. He has also been an international election observer in many countries.

This episode was recorded at the first ever Indo-Pacific Forum at the Brussels School of Governance, hosted by our partners, the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy. The forum was an opportunity for experts and policymakers from across both Europe and the Indo-Pacific to come together to talk about some really important issues - and for us to take them to one side to record them. Delegates discussed the geopolitical landscape - in particular, the US-China rivalry and how countries in the Indo-Pacific are responding to it - and what Europe's role in all of that might be. There was a session on the major security and defence trends taking place in the region, and one on the quickly changing landscape of technology and supply chains. To give you a flavour of the event, we talked to experts from each of the panels. Firstly Yuichi Hosoya, Professor of International Politics at Keio University, spoke on the balance of power in the region and how it's changed over time. Yoon Jung Choi, Director of the Center for Indo-Pacific Studies at South Korea's Sejong Institute, explained global supply chains and digital partnerships between Europe and Indo-Pacific countries. And lastly  Richard Tibbels, Special Envoy for the Indo-Pacific at the European External Action Service, talked about how the EU sees its role in the region - and what the trends over the next few years might be.  

The tables are turned in this episode as one of our hosts, Tara, becomes the guest for a discussion of what it means to hold space for deconstruction in both the spiritual direction and supervision relationships. Joined in the host chair by Vanessa Caruso, Maria and Tara take time to unpack this important and present topic. Tara Owens, CSD, CSDS is the Executive Director of Anam Cara Ministries, and has been a spiritual director and supervisor for more than 15 years. She is the author of two books, Embracing the Body: Finding God In Our Flesh & Bone (IVP: 2015) and At Play In God's Creation: A Contemplative Coloring Book (Franciscan Media: 2017), teaches and trains spiritual directors through the Anam Cara Apprenticeship and lives in Colorado with her family.

This episode focuses on Japan's role in Asia, and in particular its somewhat overlooked relations with South East Asia.While there is plenty of coverage of China's increasing economic and diplomatic clout in the region, Japan — still, of course, the world's third largest economy — has for decades been a major investor in the region. Not only that, it has also built strong diplomatic ties with southeast Asian nations and has recently been co-operating more closely on defence issues too, most recently signing a deal with Thailand.At a time when inter-state relations in Asia are evolving and becoming more complex, we wanted to look at Japan's significant presence in the region — and also to understand how countries there view that role. To do so, we have regular guest Eva Pejsova, a senior Japan fellow at CSDS with a research portfolio that focuses on security issues in the Indo-Pacific region. And we're delighted to be joined for the first time by Maria Thaemar Tana, an assistant professor in international relations at the University of the Philippines. 

Tara Owens is the founder and executive director of Anam Cara Ministries, where she has been accompanying others in their journeys with God for 15 years as a certified spiritual director and supervisor. Tara holds a Masters of Theological Studies in Spiritual Formation, combined with a certificate in Death, Dying & Grieving, from Tyndale Seminary, and the Advanced Certificate in Supervision from the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education at Fordham University. Tara also teaches rabbinic Scripture study groups, educates spiritual directors, teaches in several spiritual direction programs across the U.S., and teaches a variety of spiritual formation courses. Tara was the Senior Editor of Conversations Journal for 7 years and has authored two books, Embracing the Body: Finding God in Our Flesh & Bone (IVP, 2015), and At Play In God's Creation: A Contemplative Coloring Book (Franciscan Media, 2016).In my conversation with Tara, we talk about soul friendship; what it is, how it impacts the world, why Tara refers to it as “living art,” and how soul friendship plays a crucial role in resisting culture. We also talk at length about Tara's book, Embracing the Body. Tara helps us move away from cultural trends of objectifying or criticizing our bodies, to instead befriend our bodies and see them as good. She reminds us that God speaks through our bodies, so often reminding us of His care and presence in the midst of our own embodiment.

This episode examines the responses of three of Asia's most prominent nations to Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Japan, India, and Korea.The war has not only brought dreadful suffering to the Ukrainian people, as well as heavy losses for the Russian army - it has also upended many of the assumptions that have guided international relations for decades.  Indeed, it's arguably the biggest change to the geopolitical order since the fall of the Soviet Union. Joining Andrew Peaple to discuss the topic are  two familiar voices from the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy at the Brussels School of Governance: Eva Pejsova, senior Japan fellow at CSDS, and Ramon Pacheco Pardo, who holds the Korea chair at the Centre.
