Most artists are trying to do everything at once: making art, sharing art, selling art, resting — all at the same time, every day. This episode is about what that costs you, and what opens up when you stop. The focus here is on two of those seasons specifically: Making and Sharing. They have a unique tension. When you're in the studio, head down, focused on the canvas, there's a voice that says "the sharing isn't happening". And when you're out in the world sharing your work, the voice says "why aren't you painting?". Most artists end up half in one, half in the other. Which means neither one is getting full attention. When you know which season you're actually in, the distraction loses its grip. You can just be where you are.In this episodeWhat actually happens in your nervous system when you're asking yourself to make, share, sell, and rest all at once — and where the good work lives insteadWhy the discomfort of the Sharing season is worth staying with — and what it means that it's hardHélène's story: three and a half months away from the studio, a full rest, and what she came back toWhat becomes available when you find the right name for the way you naturally workOne question to sit with after you listen: Am I actually behind, or am I in a season?Key concepts in this episodeThe Four Seasons framework (Making Art, Sharing Art, Selling Art, Rest)The Artist GPS and Current Location frameworkThree Zones: Circle of Comfort, Growth Zone, Ring of Terror

Most artists aren't stuck because they're doing it wrong. They're stuck because they don't know where they are. No destination makes sense without a starting point, and this episode gives you one.Underneath most of that stuckness is a belief that there's a rule book somewhere. A guide that says exactly how to build a practice, when to share your work, how to price it, when you're allowed to rest. And a quieter thought beneath that: that everybody else got the rule book except you. Here's what's true. There is no rule book. There never was. What there is is a map.Today I'm walking through the three frameworks that make up that map. The Four Seasons of your art practice (Making, Sharing, Selling, and Rest) explain why the pressure to do everything at once is so exhausting, and what it actually means to be in a season. The Three Zones (Circle of Comfort, Growth Zone, Ring of Terror) give you the emotional terrain, so you know when to stretch, when to hold, and when to come back in and rest. And the CREATE Spiral is a full recap of the upward cycle you're already inside. By the end of this one, you'll have language for where you actually are. And once you have that, everything else starts to fall into place.Key concepts in this episode:The Art GPS / Current Location metaphorFour Seasons: Making, Sharing, Selling, RestThree Zones: Circle of Comfort, Growth Zone, Ring of TerrorThe CREATE Spiral: Curiosity → Resistance → Explore → Absorb → Trust → ExpandIn this episode:You'll understand why the belief that "everyone else got the rule book" keeps artists stuck — and how to let it go.You'll know what season of your art practice you're actually in right now, and why naming it matters.Hear why going back into your Circle of Comfort is not slacking off, it's recovery, and it's what makes the next stretch possible. We talk about the CREATE Spiral as an upward cycle you're already inside, not a system you need to follow step by step. You'll leave with one clear question to orient yourself with: What season am I in right now?Support the showAnd hey - if this episode hit home, do me a favor, leave a review on Apple Podcast or come say hi on Instagram: @savvypainterpodcastI'd love to hear this episode resonated you. ❤️

Follow Cindy on LinkedIn to continue the conversation and gain more insights into making impactful changes. linkedin.com/in/cindyrochaCindy Rocha has spent the last 15 years creating bridges between different sectors and managing programs to create positive change. This all started while she was a college student in Sinaloa, her home state in northern Mexico, and joined AIESEC, an international student association present in 100 countries. Founded after the 2nd World War with the mission of "peace and fulfillment of humankind's potential," AIESEC is a youth-led organization that facilitates international understanding through exchanges and leadership development programs. While those opportunities are readily available for students in the Global North, that was not the case in Cindy's local context. She worked for AIESEC at the national, regional and global level, joining AIESEC International, a multicultural team leading a network of more than 60,000 volunteers worldwide. In her final AIESEC position, Cindy was appointed Director for the Africa region, and became the first woman in that role in 60 years of organizational history. After AIESEC, Cindy has held a variety of jobs in the social impact field: She worked in corporate responsibility and process improvement for a multinational company, then as a UNDP consultant to engage the private sector in projects around the Sustainable Development Goals in Mexico, transitioned to the nonprofit sector in a disaster response organization, and currently focuses on mobilizing philanthropy to strengthen the ability of communities to withstand disasters and recover equitably when they occur. Tune in next time for more inspiring stories and practical advice on the Embodying Change Podcast!

So why aren't you growing? You're not growing because you refuse to get uncomfortable. You're not growing because you refuse to engage in new experiences. You're stagnant, way too deep into your comfort zone. Routines are great, habits are great and they do help us move forward... but we can end up getting stuck! Here's what you need to realize: Almost everything you need to achieve your goals requires new skills, habits, knowledge, and experiences. To go from where you are to where you want to be, you must do things you've never done before. You must be willing to get uncomfortable because discomfort is the only path to growth. Don't let your stability come from external circumstances, but rather, from within. Cultivate a good work ethic and have some courage in facing the unknown. Look and reflect on what you want for your career. What do you want to learn? What do you want to be better at? It's too easy to stay stuck in our comfort zones because we don't realize how much we are settling & leaving amazing opportunities on the table. I'm here to share with you how to progress from comfort zone to growth zone & start fully living your life with more joy.Show Notes:Despite how many times I have stepped outside of my comfort zone, it can still be scary to do it again & again & again. The challenges are new, the obstacles are new, the fears are new. But we know it's important to keep doing it, right? We know that if we continue to sit in our little zones of comfort & do nothing new, we will accomplish nothing new. Let's chat about some benefits of stepping outside of your comfort zone before we dive into how to step outside of it.Taking risks are opportunities for growthSettling in life leaves so much on the tableLearning to step outside your comfort zone helps you adapt to change easierStepping outside of your comfort zone helps you build new relationshipsHopefully, some of those benefits resonate with you & get you more excited about creeping out of that comfort zone. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but it is worth it.Today I want to share with you How to Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone. The steps you need to take are based on a very common Venn diagram that displays the 4 zones many of us are in & the path to go from comfort zone to growth zone. We'll go through each zone so you can discover the way out. But please recognize that everyone will move through these zones at different speeds with different difficulties. Please don't compare your journey to others.Comfort Zone: This zone is where you fester in fear. This is your safe space. You know what will & won't happen & feel in control of your life. But with low risk, you have low reward. If you want more you'll need to do more than what's available to you in this zone.Fear Zone: This is your first step outside of your comfort zone. This is where you find any excuse you can to crawl back to your comfort zone because everything is scary & new at the moment. You still lack confidence in this zone because you still aren't sure how things are going to turn out, but hopeful enough to not be in your comfort zone. This is your first step in the right direction. If you are able to move forward from here, the likelihood of you reaching growth is exponential. Learning Zone: This is such a sweet spot because your confidence starts to grow again because you're doing new things, acquiring new skills & it's making you feel good about yourself. You start to face new & more challenges in this zone & learn how to problem-solve. Growth Zone: You have arrived! This is where you feel like you have stepped into your purpose & are actually living out your goals & dreams. You need to recognize how far you have come & even how much further you could go if you realize how believing in yourself & moving forward has helped you get to where you are. This is also the zone where you start setting new goals & try not to get too comfortable where you are now. Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi or on Clubhouse @sabrinajperozzo to chat!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or check out my website, www.sabrinajoy.com where you can listen to all my episodes, send me messages & sign up for my weekly newsletter!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)
