It was during this time that she fell in love with Neuroscience. This led to a Bachelor and Master Thesis at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology - CNC, where she worked with cell culture of hippocampal neurons and leptin and ghrelin as neuroprotector agents against neurotoxicity of Abeta Oligomers. She then pursued a PhD in Neuroscience at University of Manchester, UK, exploring the role of high-fat diets in the triple transgenic model of Alzheimer´s as well as its impact on blood brain barrier and memory. She returned to Portugal in 2015 as a postdoctoral fellow at Leonor Saúde's Lab at Institute of Molecular Medicine (iMM) and started to work on spinal cord injury, where she implemented the contusion mouse model. In 2024 Dr. Martins started her own laboratory at Católica Medical School - Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health, where she focuses on neurovascular components of the blood spinal cord barrier and their role in spinal cord repair.

Following her inner GPS, she selected a Peruvian hostel where the host introduced her to the French version of Indiana Jones. The mummies were stored in his house! He also was seeking information about the Bosnian pyramids which Julie knew very well. Together they show how, once again, what you are seeking is also seeking you. Julie Mariel holds a master's degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Aarhus, Denmark. She has been trained as a hypnotherapist, regression therapist, and as a shaman of the new era. She works as a therapist and teacher with hypnosis, healing, and clairvoyance, doing so both physically and online. She also functions as a travel guide leading groups on spiritual journeys mainly to the Bosnian Pyramids, but has recently been hosting trips to Montsegur in Southern France and to Peru as well. Episode 94: Die Leuphana-Doktorandin Laura Wohlmuth arbeitet als freie Redakteurin für verschiedene Auftraggeber. So betreut sie beispielsweise den Instagram Account eines Unternehmens oder arbeitet für die ZEIT Akademie, die Online-Lernseminare zu verschiedensten Themenbereichen anbietet. Laura Wohlmuth wirkt dort an der Erstellung und Betreuung der schriftlichen Lerninhalte zu den entsprechenden Videos mit. Episode 89: Nachdem sie den Podcast »Karriere leupht« bis hierhin aufgebaut hat, verlässt Sophia Overbeck das Projekt mit Abschluss ihres Masterstudiums und startet in diesem Jahr bei einem neuen Arbeitgeber durch. In dieser letzten Episode mit ihr verrät Sophia, wie der Studienorientierungs-Podcast ins Leben gerufen wurde und wie sich dieser in den letzten dreieinhalb Jahren entwickelt hat. As the British Mandate in Palestine ended in mid-May 1948, responsibility for the territory shifted to the newly-formed United Nations. With tensions between Zionist settler Jews and Indigenous Arab Palestinians at an apex, the international organization sought to engender peace by implementing an internationalization of the Holy City of Jerusalem and its environs. In this interview, Harris Ford discusses the United Nations' vision of internationalization and the supranational sovereignty it imagined for itself over Jerusalem, as well as local Palestinian, Jordanian, and Israeli residents within the city. Notwithstanding the creation of a commission, local consultations, international conferences, and two draft statutes, the UN plan to internationalize the area encompassing the Holy City failed by the mid-1950s. As we delved into the plan Harris argues that the plan to internationalize Jerusalem failed because it only pleased the United Nations. Since I started my times at ARP and Bechtle in 2017, the topics of Future of Work and Challenges of Mobility were almost my every day lectures. And one of the questions that arised was, how technology can be a solution when the rent of offices and places to live are rising in highly populated cities? It seems that the times when people have to leave their hometown to seek education or job opportunities are staying in the past. The rush of adopting the “Home-Office Experience” for many become true. And certainly for some people who are able to work remotely, also meant that they don't have to travel or move around the city, therefore there is less traffic, and less cars on the street has also meant less pollution. With the rise of remote work in the last year, the IT industry has shown that it is the leading industry when it comes to work from home. IT outsourcing has been a practice that many worldwide corporations have incorporated as part as their human resourcing plans. Technology advancements, far for being a threat, has shown to open up opportunities that decades ago were unthinkable. Technology has also been a bridge builder when it comes to create jobs all around the world. On my first series of Thought Leaders, I invited Karina Toral to share her master thesis work on IT Outsourcing. I met Karina for the first time at the Hochschule Heilbronn cafeteria. Karina studied the same master as me, International Business and Intercultural Management, one year before. Personal traits that I could say about Karina are that she is friendly, reflective and enthusiastic. Same spirit she showed around the Hochschule Heilbronn community. On a professional level, Karina and I have had the same interests regarding to Digital Marketing and IT, where she currently works at Cobalt as Senior Business Development. In this article, I share with you part of Karina's Master Thesis related to the topic about IT outsourcing practices in German companies.

During my time at Hochschule Heilbronn, one of the requirements for graduation was to do a Master Thesis. The thesis period for bachelor or master students would become for some a stressful time. As a difference from a regular studying semester, the thesis time is basically a work between the student and himself or herself. As a student, one might have the thesis supervisors, but they are merely as support. There is a thin guidance, since it is the student work to to figure it out what topic to write about the master thesis, how to write a master thesis, where to get the references, which methodological approach to use, where is the best spot to write the thesis and so on. And of course, there might be lots of students where they might not have any clue at the beginning. Questions and doubts keep rising. Probably all master students pass this phase. In my case, I already knew I was interested in a topic related to entrepreneurship. But entrepreneurship itself, just that term is too generic, and for a master thesis you should create a fancy title. You can start checking out many thesis, and find out very long titles that would also try to be very specific and go to the point of what you are going to write about. And actually, this is recommended because there is already plenty information on internet, books and journals where you can get the information that you are looking for, so it would be better to target just what you are looking for. So in my case, to find out a supervisor, I got to know that one of my professors was already working on entrepreneurship. In one talk with her, she gave me as a tip to do a bit pre-research on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor. As I got to know the work of that organization, it helped me out to narrow my topic on the different pillars that surround entrepreneurship, and I choose out the least developed pillar for my country, Mexico. In dieser Folge spricht Gudrun mit Ayca Akboyraz und Alejandro Castillo. Beide sind im Masterstudiengang Chemieingenieurwesen bzw. Bioingenieurwesen am KIT eingeschrieben und haben 2019 das Projektorientierte Softwarepraktikum in Gudruns Arbeitsgruppe absolviert. Das Gespräch dreht sich um ihre Erfahrungen in dieser Lehrveranstaltung. Ayca stammt aus der Türkei und Alejandro ist in Mexico aufgewachsen. Beide haben in ihren Heimatländern deutsche Schulen besucht. Anschließend haben sie sich jeweils um ein Studium in Deutschland beworben. Ayca hatte sich zunächst für Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen entschieden, hat aber nach einiger Zeit gemerkt, dass ihr Chemieingenieurwesen viel mehr liegt. Das Projektorientierte Softwarepraktikum wurde 2010 als forschungsnaher Lernort konzipiert. Studierende unterschiedlicher Studiengänge arbeiten dort ein Semester lang an konkreten Strömungssimulationen. Es wird regelmäßig im Sommersemester angeboten. Seit 2014 liegt als Programmiersprache die Open Source Software OpenLB zugrunde, die ständig u.a. in der Karlsruher Lattice Boltzmann Research Group weiter entwickelt wird. Außerdem wird das Praktikum seit 2012 vom Land Baden-Württemberg gefördert als eine Möglichkeit für Studierende, sich im Studium schon an Forschung zu beteiligen. Konkret läuft das Praktikum etwa folgendermaßen ab: Die Studierenden erhalten eine theoretische Einführung in Strömungsmodelle und die Idee von Lattice-Boltzmann-Methoden und finden sich für ein einführendes kleines Projekt in Zweiergruppen zusammen. Anschließend wählen sie aus einem Katalog eine Frage aus, die sie bis zum Ende des Semesters mit Hilfe von Computersimulationen gemeinsam beantworten. Diese Fragen sind Teile von Forschungsthemen der Gruppe, z.B. aus Promotionsprojekten oder Drittmittelforschung. Während der Projektphase werden die Studierenden von dem Doktoranden/der Doktorandin der Gruppe, die die jeweilige Frage gestellt haben, betreut. Am Ende des Semesters werden die Ergebnisse in Vorträgen vorgestellt und diskutiert. Hier ist die ganze Arbeitsgruppe beteiligt. In einer Ausarbeitung werden außerdem die Modellbildung, die Umsetzung in OpenLB und die konkreten Simulationsergebnisse ausführlich dargelegt und in den aktuellen Forschungsstand eingeordnet. Diese Ausarbeitung wird benotet. Die Veranstaltung wird mit 4 ECTS angerechnet. In der klassischen Theorie der Strömungsmechanik werden auf der Grundlage der Erhaltung von Masse, Impuls und Energie und unter berücksichtigung typischer Materialeigenschaften die Navier-Stokes-Gleichungen als Modell für das Strömungsverhalten von z.B. Wasser hergeleitet. Die beiden unbekannten Größen in diesem System partieller Differentialgleichungen sind das Geschwindigkeitsfeld und der Druckgradient. Wenn geeigneten Rand- und Anfangsbedingungen für die Geschwindigkeit vorgeschrieben werden, liegt im Prinzip die Lösung des Gleichungssystem fest. Sie kann aber in der Regel nur numerisch angenähert berechnet werden. Eine wichtige Ausnahme ist die Strömung durch einen Zylinder mit kreisförmigem Querschnitt. Wenn am Rand des Zylinders als Randbedingung vorgeschrieben wird, dass dort das Fluid anhaftet, also die Geschwindigkeit ganz am Rand Null ist, dann stellt sich eine zeitlich unveränderliche (stationäre) Strömung ein, die am Rand des Zylinders still steht und in der Mitte am schnellsten ist. Der Verlauf zwischen diesen beiden Extremen entspricht genau dem einer Parabel. Diese Lösung heißt Poiseuille-Strömung. Der Durchfluss ergibt sich dann aus dem Druckgradienten. Wenn der Querschnitt des Kanals nicht genau kreisförmig ist, lässt sich das Prinzip noch übertragen, aber in der Regel ist die Lösung dann nicht mehr analytisch berechenbar. Die Poiseuille-Strömung ist ein häufiges Test- oder Benchmark-Problem in der numerischen Strömungsmechanik, zumal diese Strömungskonfiguration einer der wenigen Fälle der Navier-Stokes-Gleichungen ist, die analytisch gelöst werden können. Der Sinn des Tests besteht darin, zunächst sicherzustellen, dass die Berechnung mit Hilfe von OpenLB, eine gewisse Genauigkeit aufweist. Zweitens wird die Genauigkeit der Methode überprüft, indem analysiert wird, wie der numerische Fehler mit der Gitterverfeinerung skaliert. Ayca und Alejandro haben in ihrem Projekt diesen Benchmark vollzogen und dafür Simulationen im 2D und 3D Fall mit verschiedenen Randbedingungen, die in der Lattice Boltzmann Methode vorkommen (und in OpenLB implementiert vorliegen), und Gitterverfeinerungen mit Auflösung von 25, 50, 75, 100 Unterteilungen durchgeführt. Obwohl die Randbedingungen in numerischen Verfahren die gleichen grundlegenden Ziele wie im analytischen Fall haben, entwickeln sie sich entlang konzeptionell degenerativer Linien. Während analytische Randbedingungen die zugehörige Lösung aus einer Schar von zulässigen Lösungen der Gleichungen auswählen, wirken die Randbedingungen im Lattice Boltzmann Modell dynamisch mit. Sie sind ein Teil des Lösungsprozesses, der für die Änderung des Systemzustands in Richtung der Lösung zuständig ist. Eine der häufigsten Ursachen für die Divergenz der numerischen Lösung ist die falsche Umsetzung von Randbedingungen. Daher ist es für die Genauigkeit und Konvergenz sehr wichtig, dass die geeigneten Randbedingungen für die untersuchte Geometrie und den Strömungsfall ausgewählt werden. Es gibt eine große Familie Randbedingungen, die für die Lattice Boltzmann Methode entwickelt wurden. Für das Praktikum liegt der Fokus für die Wand auf den Randbedingungen "bounce-back" (Haftbedingung), "local", "interpolated" und "bouzidi". Alle genannten Randbedingungen erzeugen ein parabolisches Strömungsprofil passend zur analytischer Lösung. Unterschiede zeigen sich darin, wie groß die numerische Fehler ist, und in welchem Maß sich der numerische Fehler durch Gitterverfeinerung reduzieren lässt. Der graphische Vergleich der Simultionsergebnisse mit der analytischen Lösung hat gezeigt, dass bouzidi Randbedingung den kleinsten numerischen Fehler und die höchste Konvergenzordnung für den 3D-Fall erzeugt, während local und interpolated Randbedingungen für den 2D-Fall bessere Ergebnisse liefern. Zu beachten ist aber, dass mit erhöhter Gitterverfeinerung die Unterschiede zwischen diesen Randbedingungen verschwinden. Bei der Auswahl der Randbedingung sollte dementsprechend ein Kompromiss zwischen Aufwand und Güte der Lösung gefunden werden. Literatur und weiterführende Informationen T. Kira-kira di Indonesia sendiri perkembangannya gimana ya?

„Wer Sister Mag liest, kann im Small Talk immer ein kleines bisschen mehr erzählen“, meint Antonia Sutter, die gemeinsam mit ihrer Schwester Thea Neubauer und ihrem Mann Alex Sutter das Sister Mag, eine Online Zeitschrift, die sich für jede Ausgabe neu erfindet, gegründet hat. In unserem kurzweiligen Gespräch geht es um die Ausrichtung ihres Magazins, den Erfolg ihres noch jungen innovativen Unternehmens, um Mode und um Schnittmuster, die bei Sister Mag von der Mama kommen. „Ich hatte schon immer den Wunsch zu gründen“, sagt Toni, die ganz klassisch nach dem Abi BWL studiert hat und aus Sachsen kommt. In ihren ersten Berufsjahren hat sie sich mit Innovationsmanagement und Business Development beschäftigt und sich schon immer für den digitalen Bereich interessiert. Ihren Mann hat sie 2004 bei einer Mobile Marketing Firma kennen gelernt. Als ihre Schwester 6 Jahre später ihre Master Thesis über das „digitale Frauenmagazin der Zukunft“ schrieb, wurde der Plan Unternehmerin zu werden konkreter. Die 3 gründeten Sister Mag. „Schon bei der ersten Ausgabe hatten wir gute Unterstützung aus der Lifestyle Blogger Szene“, sagt Toni. „Aus dem Stand waren 70.000 Leser da und die Frage war nicht mehr ob wir weitermachen, sondern in wie“. Inhaltlich wird beim Sister Mag pro Jahr ein Oberthema definiert. Dieses Jahr ist es das Thema „Kunstwerke“, von dem es dann Unterthemen für die monatlichen Ausgaben des Magazins gibt. So zum Beispiel „Paris an an einem regnerischen Tag“, angelehnt an ein Bild, welches 1877 gemalt wurde. Regelmäßig gibt es darüber hinaus Stories zu Startups, Food und Features zu interessanten Personen. DIY ist ein weiterer großer Themenkomplex, der sich dann u.a. auch an das Titelthema anlehnt.
