The next sequel we will discuss is "Inspector Gadget 2". For it, I chatted with the Director Alex Zamm. Alex talked about his journey up outside Woodstock, NY to Hollywood that involved winning free movie tickets for a year to a local theater after winning a contest, cartooning and going up to Mad Magazine, then some stage, then he starting doing interviews for 6 years, and then started working on movies with a friend which drove him to filmmaking. We talked about getting something he made noticed by Monty Python, having Scorsese as his teacher, Sundance, Upright Citizens Brigade, writing on Green Lantern in the early 90s, Woody Woodpecker, Larry the Cable Guy, approach to directing sequels, and more. This is a fun one. Welcome back to the Manor and welcome to another Monty Python episode! Well, more or less. It definitely involves Monty Python, or at least 1/6th of them, but also involves pubbing things. So more or less what we always talk about. Pour yourself a cask ale and enjoy this episode on the pub that started as one of, if not the first, micro-breweries! Next week's episode is about the Scottish shilling system and the Belgian numbering system of their ales. Britiske humorprogram nevnt i episoden:Peep Show (2003-2015)Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969-1973)Fleabag (2016-2019)This Country (2017-2020)Alan Partridge, figuren spilt av skuespiller Steve Coogan i film, tv-serier og podkast.Aksels anbefaling: Hørespillene De dödas röster og Exorcismen i Eksjö på Sveriges Radio Hosted on Acast. The Gospels tell us about Jesus' adult life, with scant references to his childhood. We can catch glimpses of the younger Jesus' life, but there's so much we don't know. But if we move beyond the Bible, we can learn about the world the younger Jesus lived in.Growing up a refugee, in a land under foreign occupation, and a region full of militia groups, it's worth asking: How did the turbulent background of the boy Jesus affect His message … and the whole of Christianity?CREDITSUndeceptions is hosted by John Dickson, produced by Kaley Payne and directed by Mark Hadley.

Hi everyone! We recently surveyed our audience and learned that many of you would like to see more video. So, we're kicking off a new run of video episodes, beginning with our interview featuring John Cleese—actor, writer, comedian, and author of Creativity: A Short and Cheerful Guide. You can watch the interview on our Substack, or on Youtube. Enjoy! Original intro The Ministry of Silly Walks. The Cheese Shop. French Taunting. If you haven't seen any of these Monty Python sketches before, do us a favor and go watch one or two of them. You'll discover—or re-discover—why our guest for this episode is a creative comic legend. John Cleese starred in and co-wrote the award-winning series Fawlty Towers, was nominated for an Academy Award for the screenplay of A Fish Called Wanda, and even has a species of lemur named after him (Cleese's wooly lemur, Avahi cleesei). He's also an expert on the creative process, and so if you're looking for a new framework to level-up your own workflow, his book Creativity: A Short and Cheerful Guide is a great resource. We talk with John about his new book, and also about creative collaboration in the midst of friction, how to be comfortable with ambiguity, and creating boundaries of space and time to get in a creative mode. We also get to ask him a question that's been bugging us ever since we first watched Monty Python and The Holy Grail. These days, we can all use a little more laughter in our lives. We hope our interview with John sparks some joy, and leaves you with some new creative tools. Thanks for listening. Bio John Cleese is an English actor, comedian, writer, and film producer. He achieved success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and as a scriptwriter and performer on The Frost Report. In the late 1960s, he co-founded Monty Python, the comedy troupe responsible for the sketch show Monty Python's Flying Circus and the four Monty Python films, And Now for Something Completely Different, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning of Life. In the mid-1970s, Cleese and his first wife, Connie Booth, co-wrote and starred in the British sitcom Fawlty Towers. Later, he co-starred with Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis, and former Python colleague Michael Palin in A Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures. He also starred in Clockwise, and has appeared in many other films, including two James Bond films, two Harry Potter films, and the last three Shrek films. He is also the author of Creativity: A Short and Cheerful Guide. *** This ad-supported episode is available to everyone. ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ is 50. But its goofy gags and supercilious snark are just as irreverently funny (and messy) as ever. Read the Plugged In Review If you've listened to any of our podcasts, please give us your feedback.

Welcome to Episode 107 of The Ugly Quacking Duck, where we proudly embrace our status as "the worst podcast in the known universe"—because once you're the worst, you can only get better! This Star Wars Day special brings you Bruce and Sunny's unique perspective on everything from local weather patterns to global seismic activity. We kick off with our signature weather comparison between rainy Southern Illinois and sunny Phoenix, Arizona—a stark contrast that highlights how differently Mother Nature behaves across the continent. While we're dealing with 46°F temperatures and 94% humidity, Phoenix enjoys a comfortable 69°F with just 32% humidity. These weather segments connect us with listeners across different regions and provide a grounding element to our free-flowing conversation. Our earthquake report reveals some concerning trends in global seismic activity. With 1,774 earthquakes recorded worldwide in the past week alone, including four measuring above 6.0 magnitude and a massive 7.4 quake near South America, we're seeing patterns that suggest when overall earthquake counts decrease, higher-magnitude events tend to increase. This observation could potentially lead to better prediction methods, though we're still far from that reality. The News Corner segment dives into several fascinating stories you might have missed: scientists bringing back dire wolves through DNA manipulation, Sicily's ancient "white gold" tree sap being compared to biblical manna, Monty Python and the Holy Grail celebrating its 50th anniversary, and devastating sandstorms in Iraq that hospitalized thousands. These stories remind us that beyond our daily concerns, the world continues to surprise us with both scientific breakthroughs and ongoing challenges. We close with a heartfelt reminder about the importance of community in these divisive times. As Bruce says, "Every one of us bleeds. We need to stick together and pull each other up together, not push one person down to get up."Have you experienced any interesting weather phenomena in your area lately? The 2005 sci-fi blockbuster Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith celebrated its 20th Anniversary this year with a notable achievement, with its re-release earning $30 million at the domestic box office. Being the biggest money-making example of a re-release this year, it shows why anniversaries for beloved films mean so much to audiences. Although not as much of a moneymaker, the 20th Anniversary re-release of Pride and Prejudice was able to make $3 million close its opening and close to $6 million total. To widen the scope to other decades-old movies, other beloved films like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Jaws are making their way back to theaters to honor their respective 50th anniversaries. Joining us to get into this wide scope of film anniversaries is our film critics Lael Loewenstein and Manuel Betancourt. We're finishing The God Who Weeps by Terryl Givens and Fiona Givens. This is the first book in a trilogy of Mormon theology and we want to leave room in the year to get through it all. What does today hold for us? We start with a long discussion on the pre-mortal existence, transitioning into existence, then ascending to perfection thanks to Mormon beliefs. We didn't realize until pretty late in the project that the 5 chapters of the book are structured around the different stages of the Mormon Plan of Salvation (PoS), but it become clear pretty early on in our discussion. All told, the book is a marker of modern orthodox Mormon belief: pray, pay, and obey. They even have an ultra-conservative take on abortion that makes the official stance of the church seem like bleeding-heart liberals in comparison. Then we talk about The Meaning of Life, a Monty Python movie from 1983 that has a much more healthy way of looking at the random cosmic soup that led to human existence. We wrap with some happy news about the success of a slightly higher tax in Massachusetts that raised a bunch of money for all the things for which taxes are used. We round out by going through some delightful listener mail from the April Fools episode! This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Jim back on the podcast as we discuss the 1985 surreal comedy Brazi. This one was a divisive one (at least from the point of veiw of one person). A little too Monty Python for some, a little too batshit crazy for others. Robert DeNiro for some reason shows up. There's a Hobbit (or is he an Android) and Super Mario shows up. This move was a weird one. Apparently this is part 2 of Terry Gilliam's "Trilogy of Imagination". If this is what he is imagining, I feel sorry for this guy when he closes his eyes to go to sleep at night. Anyway, the podcast is just about as weird as the movie we are discussing. Enjoy!

We roar back into life for our 2025 season with the podcast crossover that nobody but us was asking for, as co-host of venerated blockbuster Beatles podcast Steven Cockcroft joins Jeremy Dylan to talk about George Harrison's solo classic 'Living in the Material World'. In amongst numerous fab-adjacent tangents, Steven and Jeremy talk about the long shadow All Things Must Pass casts over this record, Ringo Starr and Jim Keltner's innovative double drumming techniques, the lead piano of the legendary Nicky Hopkins, how this album might have served as a template for the rest of Harrison's recording career, Harrison's bitterness around the Beatles and the push and pull between his spirituality and material appetites, lawyer-based hoedowns, Harrison's extremely intermittent history as a live act and more. Plus, Steven shares his memories of attending the amazing Concert for George tribute night featuring every single living (at the time) rock legend plus a surprise Monty Python reunion.

Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
