In this episode, Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Evans joins me to talk about the Military Police at Normandy and in 1944, as well as the challenges of future force structure planning and compromises. As LTC Evans explains in the episode, the MPs help extend the Commander's operational reach from the established bases of operations to the forward lines of troops through the balance of momentum, endurance, and protection. They help address the Commander's "people problems" and prevent issues from spiraling. Female Empowerment. So this is a completely new one to me, I learned a lot about these characters and am interested in reading more. Grab Bag Month can be a tricky one, you hit or miss--this as a standalone felt like a miss. I think the overall story arch is interesting and am looking forward to next time around to see if we grab anymore titles from Valant Comics. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rangerryan/message

For Captain Matt Bolger, adopting technology is all about working smarter, not harder. In his role in IT with the Michigan State Police Department, he's helped lead an overhaul of how officers do their work, including which technology solutions to use. In-car modems, real-time video uploads to a cloud, and body cameras all help law enforcement spend more time policing, and less time finding a good Wifi connection. On this episode of The Big REthink, Capt. Bolger joins host Susan Campbell to share how that shift has helped officers and citizens alike.
The night before John Verdi's first day at the police academy, his dad—a former officer himself—had some advice: say hi to everyone. That counsel proved to be pivotal to Verdi's career, including a profound experience on 9/11 and a split-second decision that spared a life. Verdi's since retired from the NYPD, but his learnings inspired him to create an app that helps communities and police connect on a human level and, just maybe, save future lives. On this episode of The Big REthink, he joins host Susan Campbell to discuss how his app is bringing people closer together.
When Captain Don Redmond retired from the Chula Vista Police Department in 2022, he had nearly 26 years of experience in everything from SWAT responses to jail command, and was ready to bid law enforcement goodbye. But after joining BRINC, a drone company that specializes in public safety, he became vice president of special projects there, and has been a promoter of using drones as first responders (DFRs) ever since. In this episode of The Big REthink, Redmond joins host Susan Campbell to share some of the ways in which drones are improving safety outcomes and supporting police departments, including de-escalation, accelerated response times, and reducing officers' workload at a time when staffing is a challenge. Finally, he describes the tech-enabled future he envisions (drones are key, and so is a real-time response system) for safer communities.

In Charlotte, NC, law enforcement has been adopting new technologies to help officers boost their productivity, streamline workflows, and keep their community safer. On this episode of The Big REthink, Charlotte's Public Safety Technology Director, Crystal Combs, joins host Susan Campbell to discuss how tools like AI and ML are reshaping how officers do their work now, and what it might look like down the line. From using predictive analytics to deploy officers more efficiently to computer-aided dispatch, she shares how technology is impacting the work of law enforcement and how it might evolve in the future.
At first glance Schenectady, New York, may seem an unlikely place to be on the leading edge of technological innovation. But the leafy, mid-sized city, which sits about 160 miles north of Manhattan, is quickly becoming a smart city: building and adding far-reaching enhancements to its infrastructure and municipal operations that, according to Police Chief Eric Clifford, improve everything from public safety to climate-change resilience. On this episode of The Big REthink, Clifford joins host Susan Campbell to discuss how he and his colleagues are transforming Schenectady, and what other cities can learn.

In July of 2019, the Commandant of the Marine Corps published his planning guidance. In it was a bold vision to modernize the Corps to meet rapidly evolving future threats. This vision is Force Design 2030. As General Berger developed his strategy, he also made some very important assignments, tasking his respective Deputy Commandants with critical requirements in building the Corps of the future. One of those was the DC for Combat Development and Integration who bore the responsibility of not only developing the requirements, but also conducting experimentation efforts to validate concepts, working through plans to divest of capabilities that did not meet future needs, and ultimately creating decision space for the Commandant to make informed decisions on Force Design 2030. That individual spent nearly two years conducting those studies and analysis, and burning the midnight oil to get the Corps to where it is today --- a strategic naval response force ready to answer our nations' calls and meet and defeat any future threat. This week Manny has the honor of sitting down with the Corps' 36th Assistant Commandant, General Eric Smith. The views expressed in this podcast reflect those of the speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views, policies, or positions or the United States Marine Corps or Department of Defense. Today's Story: Forging the Future Force
He's a racing champion, but until 2021, few knew of 24-year-old racing phenom Ernie Francis, Jr. This piqued the curiosity of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and co-host Mike Davis who welcome him to the table to learn about a racer that industry insiders can't talk enough about.Francis broke through with a big win in Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham's SRX Series (Superstar Racing Experience) at Indianapolis Raceway Park last summer. The win came against some of the best racers in motorsports and sent shockwaves across much of the sport. Who was this kid? Well, first off he's a seven-time Champion on the Trans-Am circuit. His recent success brought a call from motorsports legend Roger Penske, who tabbed him to be one of his up-and-coming stars. Francis details the call that changed his life and unexpectedly shifted his career path from stock cars to open-wheel racecars where he'll compete full-time for Force Indy in the 2022 Indy Lights Series. The goal? Building experience and a team capable of stepping up in a few years to compete in the Indianapolis 500.Francis' first opportunities in racing came with a lot less fanfare. As a child, he hung around and worked at his father's speed shop on the coast of Southern Florida. The family connection to speed took him from go-karts to his first racecar at the age of 13. From there, he honed his skills racing Mazda Miatas until the big decision to enter the Trans-Am Series. There, young Ernie blossomed, racing a beast of a racecar against some of the best road racers in America. He dipped his toes into the Stock Car oval-track world racing Late Models and K&N East races in NASCAR's diversity program too. But, it was the shot in SRX that put kid-Francis on the map.Where else would he race in 2022? Francis spilled the beans about his future with SRX.Before the show started, Dale and Mike chat about their recent trip to Daytona to watch racecars and promote vodka. From the High Rock party at the historic Streamline Hotel, to the ups and downs of the NASCAR Xfinity race, it was a trip full of surprises. None more surprising than the fun times had by family inside the racetrack. Dale reveals Amy and Isla's newfound love of the infield track experience. They also dive into the Great American race, its massive crowd, and the big-bad tangles that "Bad" Brad Keselowski was a part of.Sadly, it's Leah Vaughn's last show, which has all in DJD-land sad, but she brings it one last time for a wildly entertaining AskJr segment. From racecars losing wheels, to drive-shafts going through Dale Earnhardt's windshield, it's full of great moments. We also learn about the level of interest from Dale about space travel and, of all things, Chinchillas. Or was it a rabbit? AJ, a headhunter and founder of Future Force, is back on the show in today's episode to discuss the great resignation with Maria. Drawing upon his vast amount of experience and insight, AJ reveals how the great resignation has affected recruiting for staffing agencies, managers, and businesses as a whole. He starts the conversation by explaining what the great resignation is and how candidates have been ghosting interviews and not showing up. AJ also talks about Future Force and also what they are experiencing as even small businesses are finding it difficult to fill open positions. He then discusses factors that help with customer retention apart from benefits and compensation. Finishing up, AJ addresses the key question of whether or not this great resignation phenomenon will continue in 2022, by sharing his opinion that there will be a turnaround and it will become an employer's market as opposed to what we see now. The Finer Details of This Episode: The great resignation from AJ's viewpoint Why are people ‘ghosting'? AJ discusses Future Force and the trend of open jobs not getting filled Factors important for customer retention The impact of lack of leadership Why you shouldn't hire hastily Will the great resignation persist in 2022? Quotes: “We're getting ghosted nonstop. People are setting up interviews and never showing.” “Is the Tinder culture of ghosting transferring to the professional culture?” “A lot of these leaders, nowadays, are completely overworked.” “Leaders are starting to lead organizations rather than lead people.” “Just because you have an open position that needs to be filled, do not sacrifice what values you're looking for in the person or in the candidate to fill that”. “Don't just grab somebody because you're in a pinch.” “One bad apple can poison an entire team” “Companies are understanding what needs to be done for retention and attraction.” Show Links: REL Talent: HR Consulting Email REL Talent REL Talent on LinkedIn AJ's Instagram Future Force Website AJ@futureforcetalent.com

Joining the military can be an exciting and life-changing experience. There are many reasons why young men and women across the United States show an interest in wanting to join the Armed Forces. Some have multigenerational respect for the military and want to serve as their older relatives did. Others wish to job security and the benefits that come along with being in the military. A few military benefits include 30 days of paid vacation per year, health, dental, and life insurance coverage, leadership opportunities, specialty training, and more. For all the good reasons and opportunities the military offers, recruiting for our Armed Forces remains a challenge. Listen to Olivia Nunn speak with Army Major General Kevin Vereen, Commanding General of U.S. Army Recruiting Command, and Marine Corps Major General Jason Bohm, Commanding General of Marine Corps Recruiting Command, about today's recruiting climate.
The eighth episode of Tech Unmanned explores electronic warfare and the electromagnetic spectrum. Lindsey and Kaitlyn interview Whitney McNamara, a technical advisor in the Department of Defense, and Todd Harrison from CSIS. As Whitney says, “Every modern weapons system from radios to satellites, to ships to aircraft, all depend on the spectrum to function.” This discussion on the electromagnetic spectrum and the ways to counter or interfere with access to communications is critical and deserves more focus in defense and national security policy conversations. Air Force Gaming (AFG) is the official gaming program and competition hub for the United States Air Force and Space Force. Over 86% of Airmen and Guardians between the ages of 18-34 identify as gamers. AFG was started to help Airmen of all ages, ranks, and backgrounds find common ground through video games, while also promoting mental acuity, fine motor coordination, and competitive excellence. Its mission is to create an inclusive gaming community for Airmen of all ages, ranks, and backgrounds. Capt Zach “ZB” Baumann co-founded AFG, and for the better part of 2020, led the explosion of AFG's digital reach to 575K impressions and 40K profile visits (doubling its digital footprint of followers on social media and verified members on its Discord server) across five platforms, and tirelessly built the connective tissue between the Department of the Air Force, DoD at large, and the gaming industry — ultimately leading to AFG’s “acquisition” by the USAF in November of 2020. AFG is helping to bridge the gap between the DoD’s digital natives (tomorrow’s leaders) and digital immigrants (today’s leaders).Capt Oliver “OliPoppinIt” Parsons founded AFG and leads a diverse group of Airmen and Guardians all across the world. AFG strives to be the leading DoD eSports/gaming organization. In 2020, he led the AFG Space Force Call of Duty team to victory in the first ever transatlantic Armed Forces eSports bowl (CODE Bowl).MSgt Michael Sullivan co-founded AFG, launching the Department of the Air Force’s first gaming and eSports organization, with a primary focus in mental health and resiliency for service members. MSgt Sullivan led day to day operations; advised on the organization’s direction, event planning, and brand implementation; developed its “Ambassador” volunteer program, on-boarded, and trained 50+ personnel; and established the first ever USAF/USSF official eSports teams, achieving the Championship title in an international tournament. In today’s podcast, Capt Baumann, Capt Parsons, and MSgt Sullivan discuss how gaming breaks down barriers in rank, generation, and geography; identities the digital talent residing in the gaming community; and how video games can cultivate the future Senior Leaders in the military. The following bullet points highlight key insights from our interview: AFG seeks to identify and engage gamers already ‘within the gate’ of the Air and Space Forces, providing an online platform where Airmen and Guardians can network and develop skills in teaming, organization, and strategy. AFG hopes to expose the benefits of gaming to the DoD, counteracting the outdated stereotype that
This time on the Couch: Mike, James, and Shée dropkick their toasters in robot-fighting solidarity after reading Rai and the Future Force no. 9! It's the year 4002, and evil space bots have taken over the earth because everyone forgot to opt out of Amazon Sidewalk. The world's best hope for salvation rests with nanite-powered superhero and everyone's second favorite bread (after banana), Rai! To fend off the invasion, he's put together a motley crew of courageous warriors who won't stop battling until they each get their own toy line! Everyone's here: Magnus, Robot H8er! Space Hillbillies! X-O Manowar But Now It's a Lady! The Crypt Keeper With a Gun! Other ones! Even with all that, the most outlandish part is that Valiant Comics is still around a couple thousand years from now. Suspension of disbelief only goes so far, guys.

It's that time of the year again. Sydney's annual Mardi Gras festival and party is on, although this year it is a far more scaled back event due to Covid19. Regardless however, the traditional MG Anthems sets still go ahead. This year I've used some original extended mixes of tracks when they were released and blended them with some excellent updated versions of other party classics. The 15th edition kicks off with 2 original mixes of "What You Want" by Future Force and "Love Come Rescue Me" by Lovestation. For those of you old enough to have partied in the 90's, you should remember them instantly. The very talented and generous Mark (Dirty Disco) was kind enough to provide me with 3 of his new remixes which feature in this set. He does an awesome job on remixes for Kylie Minogue, Madonna and The Pointer Sisters, so thank you Mark x Wayne G. also kindly gave me 2 of his private mixes for the set. You will recognize the tracks from Shauna Jensen and Bek Jensen. Australia's Dom de Sousa and my good friend Rob (Division 4) also helped out with their remixes for Christina Aguilera and Tina Turner. Throw in some classic tracks from Alice Deejay and Blondie and Mardi Gras Anthems 15 is a euphoric, hands in the air trip down memory lane. Enjoy Anthony 1/ "WHAT YOU WANT" (Richie Jones Club Mix) - FUTURE FORCE 2/ "LOVE COME RESCUE ME" (Warren Stanford Club Mix) - LOVESTATION 3/ "SPINNING AROUND" (Dirty Disco Classic Club Rework) - KYLIE MINOGUE 4/ "BORDERLINE" (Dirty Disco Classic Club Rework) - MADONNA 5/ "DIRRTY" (Division 4 Club Mix) - CHRISTINA AGUILERA ft. BEK JENSEN 10/ BETTER OFF ALONE" (Tommer Mizrahi Club Mix) - ALICE DEEJAY 11/ "CALL ME" (Joe Gauthreaux Summer Of Love Club Mix) - BLONDIE 12/ "JUMP" (Dirty Disco Classic Club Rework) - THE POINTER SISTERS
In this episode we're waddling into the future with the David Carradine cult classic, Future Force from 1989. Along the way we invent a new form of golf, remember the days of having to rent B movies because they had nothing else on the shelf, and wonder if the script for this film was written or scrawled in crayon (like our scripts are). Music from the film by Tim James and Mark Mancina.

The new ‘HR Best Practices' series, which examines what matters most these days in the world of HR, begins today by focusing on pivoting staffing practices. Joining Maria and Michelle is AJ Vollmoeller, Founder and President of Future Force Staffing and Career Services, a boutique staffing firm which focuses on skilled positions in start-ups, as well as small and medium sized businesses. Today, AJ shares his thoughts on the impact of the global pandemic on businesses and the necessity of being able to pivot quickly in times such as these. He begins by describing the impact the pandemic has had upon businesses, including his own, and the best practices he has seen for onboarding during this time. He and our hosts also discuss interviewing and working remotely, body language, company COVID safety policies, and the role that AJ's business plays. He also offers his advice for companies and our listeners as the world navigates the current crisis. As is noted during the show, nobody was prepared for something like this pandemic – a fact which makes the experience, knowledge, and advice about staffing and pivoting that AJ shares here today all the more valuable. Sean Chen (artist of X-O, Iron Man, Wolverine and Batman Beyond) joins Creator Talks to discuss the September 1st only 24-hour digital drop of Wingman: Compendium of an Artist's First Writing Experience. The book was inspired by the 1957 classic Swedish art film The Seventh Seal directed by Ingmar Bergman. The digital version of Sean's book is available free and in it's entirety on Nextchapter's Instagram @NextChapterPost. The physical copy will not only contain the story but also a page-by-page look at Sean's creative process. Why did Sean decide to post the story on Instagram and partner with NextChapter for the physical edition rather than a launching a Kickstarter campaign? Don't worry if you are listening to our interview too late to get a physical copy. There is still a plenty of discussion of Sean's career, from Valiant to Marvel, and the lessons he has learned about making comics. We talk about the first time I meet Sean during the Delaware Valley CBRI One Day Tour that was held Saturday February 27, 1993. He was promoting his first comic work for Valiant Rai and The Future Force. How did Sean get his first break working for Valiant Comics? Sean learned a great deal at Valiant and tells how his art developed under the guidance of Art Director Barry-Windsor Smith and Editor-In-Chief Bob Layton. When Sean made the jump to Marvel Comics 1998 to illustrate Iron Man for the launch of Marvel's Heroes Return, he had the opportunity to work with writer Kurt Busiek. Sean explains how writer/artist collaborations back then were different than how they are commonly done today. Kick Back With the Creator to learn how Sean likes to relax, his island book and the oddest job he ever had. Big Daddy is a rich hotelier who, in a cracked echo of King Lear, appoints his youngest descendant to manage The Suites, a peculiar hotel located behind the Black Crown Pub. Affectionately known as Kid, his good looks and swagger can’t hide a rough childhood of strange therapies and brain operations that have awakened inner demons and psychodramas. This of course makes him eminently qualified to perform lobotomies. For the military, deciding where to invest its precious research-and-development dollars can have huge consequences. Prognosticators look out decades in advance to determine what kinds of threats the armed forces will have to face. It also requires a keen understanding of where science is going and what technologies have the potential to make an impact on tomorrow’s battlefields. National Defense Magazine in its 10th annual research-and-development report looks at the fields where the four services’ are placing their R&D bets. Listen to this month's podcast here.
The Royal Air Force, UK air power and the defence aerospace industry are at a critical point in their evolution. After 12 years of enduring stabilisation operations, UK air power is now reconfiguring towards Future Force 2020. But just what that future holds is unclear: greater complexity, less certainty and increased insecurity is the prediction. Air Marshal North offered the Royal Air Force view that the answer lies in adjusting how the two work together in the decades ahead, suggesting their respective futures are now fused as one.
We discuss the Malev War, the epic story of invasion by sentient robots that was published in Magnus, Robot Fighter 21 - 37, and Rai and the Future Force 9 - 22.
Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground MovementTHE FADE STORY…FADE was formed in the summer of 1993 when Neil Kolo, a young studio engineer, introduced himself to Chris Fortier, a young resident DJ at the infamous "Marz" club in Cocoa Beach, FL, and passed on a tape of some of the material he had been working on. Chris, very enthused by what he had heard, expressed his interest in the idea of working together and learning about how to produce tracks of his own like the ones he had been playing up and down the East Coast of America. The two instantly clicked and a friendship was formed. Two years later, the pair released their first record titled "...For All The People". They Floated a few one-sided promos out to gauge reaction. Meanwhile, a second track was completed, "All I Got". The two tracks were then combined as a double A-sided release, which was the first release on FADE Records, the label that Chris owns and operates. "All I Got" caught the attention of UK duo Chris & James, who helped it get signed to Mushroom Records where James was working as an A & R representative. In August of 1995, Fade released two new singles, "So Good" and "Separation". The Two Tracks received massive support from some of the biggest DJs around including their biggest inspiration, SASHA. The records became underground hits and quickly sold out. Soon after, Glasgow’s Limbo Records signed the duo for a multi-album record deal in February 1996.This success opened the door for the boys to move into the realm of remixing. First, they did remixes for friends John Debo and DJ Icey. This gave them more exposure and experience and led to remixes for Stress records and Sony’s S3 label. The Summer of 1996 brought new challenges. Now they were going to get a chance to work on more vocal oriented songs. One such song was Sam Mollison’s "Cry". When finished, the "Cry" remix set a new standard for Fade and the quality of tracks they could produce. Dave Seaman heard "Cry" and quickly added it to his Essential Mix for England’s Radio 1 FM and his Renaissance Volume 4 mix compilation on Network Records. With this surge of notoriety, DMC’s Guy Ornadel contacted Chris & Neil to remix Future Force’s "What You Want" for DMC’s Remix Culture. Rising to another level, Fade delivered one of the progressive anthems of 1996 winning Remix and Remixer of the Year in Australia. This gave way to the chance to remix Marathon’s "Movin" and Viola Wills "It’s My Pleasure", two of the guys all time favorite tracks, as well as getting the chance to remix another big influence, BT, for his song "Quark".1997 saw the boys getting attention from major labels for remixes, as well as writing and producing their own more vocal based material under the guises of Fade and Nutribe. They released their first vocal track with singer Dauby Talles called "No Resolve". This was another pinnacle in their rising careers. "No Resolve" saw heavy play from John Digweed on the Northern Exposure 2 Tour, climbed as high as #12 in the Cool Cuts Chart and has become a Florida club anthem.1998 saw Chris and Neil further expanding their horizons by doing remix work for more Indie style bands and artists like Sarah McLachlan and Delerium. The Delerium which features Sarah McLachlan on vocals and has been tearing up clubland since the first time heard at Renaissance in Ibiza when John Digweed dropped it at the closing party. Sasha quickly rang up for a copy and the tune soon became an anthem for the pair at every gig including Twilo. It even had Sasha opening and closing his sets with it at Cream and Tyrant. With the rest of clubland searching for it, Delerium debuted and #5 in MixMag Update’s Buzz Chart and appeared on the Northern Exposure 3 CD. This was truly a high point for Chris and Neil in their ever rising careers. 1998 also saw the release of "Sanctuaries" The Fade Records Collection. a collection of work including a number of unreleased remixes and original productions. The CD was released in conjunction with Universal Music.Throughout ’99 and 2000, the duo worked on their debut artist album and saw the release of their "Silence" remix released in Australia. The record was an instant hit and went to #6 in the National chart and rose to Platinum status (70, 000 units sold) in Australia alone. It also went to #1 in Holland, Belgium and Ireland, with total sales over One Million Units. Also completed was another mixed CD, mixed as Fade, called "Anthems of Progressive House: Limbo Records" and was released in November 2000. Chris made the move to New York City where he now calls home.During 2001 the pair continued their prolific remix work for new artists Andy Hunter, Lunik (Delerium) and Balligomingo. They have also produced tracks and remixes for established artists like Tiesto and Sarah McLachlan again. For the past 6 years, both Neil and Chris have been concentrating on solo work. One day they may reunite, but only time will tell.www.FadeRecords.com
