When aiming for success, sometimes the biggest obstacles are your own personal thoughts and beliefs. Whether you are limiting yourself, doubting yourself, or just not pushing yourself hard enough, all of these can hold you back from the greatness that you are so capable of! That's where the Three Gs of Success will help. I'm talking about Gratitude, Goals, and Grit, in that order. These three qualities are so important in pushing yourself to become the best creative that you can be. You need to show gratitude for the successes you've already had, set goals for the success you want to achieve, and have grit to face the challenges ahead.  In today's episode, I am diving into what the Three Gs of Success look like, why they are so important in helping you achieve success, and how to incorporate them into your daily life. In this episode, you will hear: How practicing gratitude in your daily life can shift your thinking toward success Why it is so important to set specific and ambitious goals for yourself How building grit can help you learn to tackle obstacles in the way of your success Subscribe and Review Have you subscribed to our podcast? Fun fact, when I first started my blog back in 2015, Catherine was one of the first people I come across. I came across Catherine when I was starting out in side hustling. I was attracted to her authentic approach to sharing marketing and content creating tips. She is personally someone I have purchased content from and learned from, and I always like sharing some of my best kept secrets with the side hustle pro audience, so I had to have her in the guest chair. Today, I still look to Catherine for motivation to not let fear of what might go wrong hold me back and just do it. Catherine has used her marketing expertise to train hundreds of entrepreneurs how to build their brand and do the personal development work necessary to breakthrough. She has done this through online training programs, courses, and live speaking events. Helping women elevate so they can step into their true potential, and live to the fullest is her primary goal. Today in the guest chair is the one and only, Dr. Joy Harden Bradford. Dr. Joy Harden Bradford is a Licensed Psychologist, Speaker, and the host of the wildly popular mental health podcast, Therapy for Black Girls. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana, her Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Arkansas State, and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Georgia. Her work focuses on making mental health topics more relevant and accessible for Blackwomen and she specializes in creating spaces for Black women to have fuller and healthierrelationships with themselves and others. She has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, Bustle, Huffington Post, Black Enterprise, Women’s Health, BuzzFeed, Teen Vogue, and Essence. This episode is so important to me because I am passionate about breaking the stigma of mental health. Like any other part of our body, we need to take care of our mind. And as Founders, sometimes we think what we are experiencing is unique to us, so we go through a lot of internal torment trying to figure things out on our own. As I talk about with Dr. Joy, sometimes I have felt like, I don’t need to speak to anyone, it’s not that serious. But on today’s episode we get into: Why you shouldn’t wait to reach a breaking point before seeking support The truth about self care and why you can’t “self-care” yourself into not going to therapy What self sabotage looks like and how to overcome it How to thrive as a black founder As a reminder, this episode is in no way a substitute to seeking help from a licensed therapist in your state. Today, I am finally back with another solo episode to share my entrepreneur diaries, how it’s been going, 9 months into entrepreneurship.True confession, these episodes are the HARDEST for me to do. I feel like I have so much going on in my head and it’s hard to unpack it or know how to unpack it in the way that will be most helpful to others. So I put it off. Here’s the deal: I have good days, I have bad days, I have days where I feel like I know exactly what I’m doing, where I want to go, and the path I need to take to get there. On other days, I feel like, I don’t what the hell am I doing. I melt into a ball of sadness and confusion because I feel like, I don’t know what this is all leading me to. I’m just being honest. On those days, I feel like I’m supposed to have it all figured out and I don’t and I’m a disappointment to myself and others.Clearly, you can see that I’m very hard, too hard on myself.I’m working on that.So in this episode, I’m going to share with you what I know right now: What’s worked, what hasn’t worked 9 months in, what i’m still figuring out, and what I’m encouraged by.I talk about how I’m dealing with loneliness, imposter syndrome, the highs and lows of having my own business, learning to sell my services, and so much more! Being a black-women-owned business to them meant having an opportunity to create highly functional products that tap into their Nigerian cultural heritage and specific needs. This is especially true when you think about their silk-lined headwraps. As two naturalistas, they wanted to remove the step of having to wear a bonnet or silk scarf underneath our headwraps to protect their hair. Therefore, they created a product that addressed that particular need. Most importantly, Chioma and Uchenna view Cee Cee's Closet NYC as an opportunity to have a positive economic impact on Nigeria. Today on the show, I am introducing you to my best kept secret: the woman who has taught me to turn my knowledge into a valuable, premium course. Her name is Danielle Leslie and she founded Culture Add™ Labs to help companies and individuals uncover their Culture Add™ and launch profitable products online. She is also the creator of #CourseFromScratch, an 8-week online intensive that helps people create & launch their profitable & poppin’ online courses. She has been an online marketer in Silicon Valley for almost 10 years and helped personal brands & influencers, including Guy Kawasaki, earn collectively millions of dollars by launching their online courses. One of the reasons I wanted to have Danielle on the show is because her framework for course launches addresses our common human tendency to get stuck on the preparation part and delay your launch. She teaches people like myself to not fall into the trap of creating your course content all before you’re ready to launch and instead, focus on what she calls the 4Cs. She breaks this all down in her masterclass, which you can sign up for at SideHustlePro.co/CourseFromScratch if you are interested. In my own case, I have wanted to launch a podcast training program for almost a year, and I have been dragging my feet because: I was overwhelmed with the thought of breaking all of the content down I knew it was really valuable information that could make people thousands of dollars and thus I knew I would need to charge a premium price point (and I was SCARED to set that premium price point) I turned to Danielle and with her guidance, I launched my podcast accelerator as an invite only program in February and it’s been an AMAZING experience so far. What I’ve learned from Danielle is: Focusing on creating a course that truly meets your student’s needs, means creating it with their active feedback, not creating it in a vacuum without their input I’ve also learned that it’s not going to be perfect the first time you do it so you have to get down to business and start, so you can improve. On today’s episode, Danielle gets into: Her straight line to the cash formula that shatters the most popular course creation narrative The tools she used to do a $20,000 course launch in 60 days with no email list Her MVC method to not overthink your launch and to pre-sell your course How her online course made $25,000 alone in one month on Instagram...and how it has exploded since then. As this episode premieres, Danielle just crossed the $100,000 mark, her first six figure month. And in today’s episode, she breaks down how she’s quickly approaching $1M in revenue this year If you want to learn how Danielle’s online course made $100,000 in one month alone from Instagram listen to this entire episode, and remember to sign up for her Course From Scratch class at SideHustlePro.co/CourseFromScratch. This week on Bag Ladiezzzzz we start off by talking a bit about our guest episode on #InnerHoeUprising who invited us to talk about our experiences as Afrolatinx womxn! For “Currento Eventos” we talk about the speculation going around about Tracee Ellis Ross pay gap, the imminent government shutdown (which is over now but still no Dream Act?! #DREAMACTNOW), the Women’s march, and Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman confronts her abuser at trial of the USA Olympic doctor who abused hundreds of young girls going after their dreams. In “What’s Your Baggage” we discuss intuition and developing a relationship with that inner voice. For “Put It in Your Bag” Estephanie talks about a jewelry maker she met at the NuTravels Nubian Shorties Night Out an all Black women art expo! Lina brings the CW’s new show Black Lightning which features a Queer Black superhero! NuTravels is an organization dedicated to exploring Afro-contributions throughout the world through travel and immersion in other cultures. I, the founder Tiffany Dames, with a group of other Black Entrepreneurs recently returned from a successful trip to Phuket, Thailand. I also created this platform to promote all things Black. Black businesses, Black entrepreneurship, Black appreciation, Black artistry, if it’s positive and pushes us forward I want to encourage it. Since returning, NuTravels is currently promoting our six month-long monthly series Nubian Shorties’ Night Out. This campaign was created to promote sisterhood among black women through monthly events. At these events the goal is for Black Women to gain meaningful personal and mutually beneficial business relationships with other Black Women. Nubian Shorties? I know you’re wondering how I came up with the term. Someone actually called me it the first time I heard it. I was going on a rant about how Black People especially Black Women aren't allowed to be multifaceted. I thought the phrase was perfect because although it sounds like an oxymoron, the word Nubian used usually in reference to a regal, Egyptian queen-equse Black Woman and the word Shorty, a slang word that usually refers to an "urban" Black Woman. But really it embodies the idea that Black Women are multidimensional and have layered personalities. So to me a Nubian Shorty is showcasing that we're magic but we're still real. She is someone that encompasses all walks of life and reflects every personality a Black Woman can and has the right to be able to possess, without judgment. Later, we connected on Facebook and through her daily updates, I really get to see the behind-the-scenes of building a new, young company from the ground up. One of the reasons I was and continue to be so in awe of Kim, is that she has accomplished so much under the age of 30. A bold decision to pitch myself for an opportunity landed me right next to my business idol. In early 2016, the Signature CEO conference landed on my radar as it was on the list of appearances CurlBox Founder and CEO Myleik Teele had on her website and it was right in my neck of the woods. Initially, I thought a conference specifically tailored to wedding and event planners would not be relevant to me. But when I took a closer look at the agenda, I realized the knowledge that would be shared would be both valuable and applicable to my own brand. I brainstormed ways that I could contribute value to the conference organizer and pitched myself to cover the conference as press.
