Education is one of the most important enablers of girl power all over the world. And in a lot of ways, girls' education has improved. The percentage of girls in school is on the rise globally compared to two decades ago. But there are still significant gaps, particularly in areas with high levels of conflict. On today's episode of the Hidden Economics of Remarkable Women, host Reena Ninan speaks with Julie Mwabe, the team lead at the global advocacy and public policy program at Global Partnership for Education. She leads efforts to mobilize political support at the highest levels for education, including from heads of state. They talk about the state of girls' education and what the international community can do to close learning gaps, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hidden Economics of Remarkable Women is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs at Northwestern University. And a quick plug: Foreign Policy will host its annual Her Power summit on April 18th in Washington D.C. Host Reena Ninan will do two live interviews, including with the deputy secretary general of the UN, Amina J. Mohammed. How does close observation lead to empathy and compassion? This week, we're honored to hear from Bonnie Pitman, a national leader in education and the public engagement of art, who has been a thinker and a doer on the bleeding edge of arts education and engagement for 40 years. After a long career in art museums, Bonnie is now working on ways to cultivate empathy and compassion through viewing art. Her Power of Observation Framework™ was developed in part to guide medical students using a process of close observation leading to a sustainable practice of empathy and compassion for patients. In this episode we hear multiple examples of how the Framework may be applied, as well as its uses in museum spaces. Through this work, Bonnie has also created a daily practice to "Do Something New", which invites the exploration and celebration of making an ordinary day extraordinary while dealing with her own chronic illness. What kind of company would you create if you could start from a blank slate? Despite being spun off from 130+-year-old Merck, Organon had this unique opportunity. The women's health, biosimilars, and established medicines company started from the beginning, defining a new mission, establishing a board of directors, and unifying their impact around a commitment to the global health of women and girls.Nearly half of the world's pregnancies are unintended. Organon is working to change that by ensuring women around the world have the power to decide when and whether they will start a family, enabling them to live their promises. Through the Her Promise Access Initiative, Organon collaborates with organizations in the world's least developed regions to offer education, training, and affordable contraceptive options. Central to this effort is "Her Plan is Her Power," which empowers women to manage their reproductive health, reducing unplanned pregnancies and disparities in high-need areas. We invited Geralyn Ritter, EVP of Corporate Affairs, Sustainability & ESG, to explain how Organon was structured to create meaningful change and empower women to live their promise.Listen for insights on:How Organon established the most gender diverse Board in the S&P 500Articulate values to influence behaviorExpanding internal benefits to be more inclusive of women's health needsResources + Links:Geralyn Ritter's LinkedInHer Promise Access InitiativeHer Plan is Her PowerMerck for MothersGeralyn's First Purpose 360 Episode “An Act of Grace” (00:00) - Welcome to Purpose 360 (00:13) - Geralyn Ritter from Organon (02:28) - Geralyn's Background (06:13) - Merck for Mothers (07:36) - The Name (09:17) - Board Members (12:15) - Their Purpose (14:55) - Values (16:23) - Innovation (20:13) - Her Promise Initiative (23:41) - Partners (26:11) - Measurement (28:40) - Recruiting Actions (29:50) - Recognition (30:51) - Last Insights (32:53) - 2030 (34:50) - Wrap Up

Witchcraft as a Black Woman In this episode of Center Her Power, we look at witchcraft from a Black woman's perspective. There are many ways for women to connect to their spiritual selves thereby marrying body and spirit so that they live In The Center Of Her Power. For some Black women, working with herbs and intention (witchcraft) was a way of life passed down from grandmothers. Witchcraft has been depicted most prominently based on European practices. For Black women who are seeking to find ways to live In The Center of Their Power, Vodoun is one path to follow. Whether Celtic or African, witches were feared and even killed for their mystical wisdom that was often used for healing the community. It is a changing of perception that encourages Yvette Wyatt to walk boldly as, The MotownWitch. Vodoun is a religion practiced by the Aja, Ewe, and Fon peoples of Benin, Togo, Ghana, and Nigeria. It was brought to the America by Africans who were enslaved. It is practiced in Louisiana in the US and other areas of the Black Diaspora where West Africans found themselves including Haiti. About Our Guest Yvette (The MotownWitch) is a lifelong Witch and Conjure Worker. She began seeing Spirits at an early age and grew up watching her grandmother and great-greatmother work various roots and herbs in Talladega, Alabama. She is also baptized in Haitian Vodoun and is an Ifa devotee. Yvette owns a store in Detroit: The MotownWitch, 16844 Schaefer Hwy., Detroit, MI 48235 She also is the creator of The Detroit Hoodoo Festival (an annual event) The Detroit Witches Ball (an annual event) and The Real Black Witches of Detroit (a monthly woman's fellowship meeting). Swimsuit season is almost here! But if you are struggling with the symptoms of hormone imbalance, you might not be too excited about showing off your “beach bod.” So let's get your hormones “Summer ready”! Women can have a harder time maintaining a healthy weight and keeping precious muscle when their hormones are “out of balance.” When your hormones are out of whack, what's happening on our inside starts showing up on our outside. On today's episode, Cody and Jess talk about how getting our hormones summer ready can help us in these ways:Bloating: High estrogen and low progesterone levels can lead to water retention and bloating. Estrogen often acts as a fluid retaining hormone, while progesterone is a natural diuretic. When these hormones are thrown off balance, you may notice uncomfortable bloating. You can use nutritional therapy, like Hertime to help boost progesterone production naturally to help keep you feeling comfortable in your swimsuit. Glowing skin: Changes in certain hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, affect your skin as well. Your body works hard to keep your hormones balanced, but if even one hormone is off balance, you begin developing skin issues such as dryness, acne, fine lines, rosacea and wrinkles. Nourish your hormone system with Hertime for beautiful glowing skin, it's an inside-out job. Energy: Women in particular really feel the effects of fluctuating hormones. Every month, throughout the menstrual cycle, estrogen and progesterone levels start out low. Then, during ovulation, estrogen increases sharply, only to take a deep dive again at the end of the cycle. Is it any wonder that a woman feels like a different person depending upon what day of the month it is? These extreme hormonal fluctuations can really leave us feeling completely all over the place with our energy levels. Hertime helps to prevent these rapid dips of our sex hormones that lead to us feeling unmotivated to go out and have fun in the sun. For energy, Jess and Cody recommend using Herpower and Hertime.Did you learn something new today? Be sure to subscribe to this podcast and share this episode with all the girls you love. Do you struggle to get through the day, but have a second wind at night? Do you rely on caffeine to get you going and to function during the day? Are you gaining weight around your midsection and can't seem to lose it? Are you irritable, anxious and workout leave you feeling wiped out instead of energized? These could all be signs that your cortisol is out of balance.Your cortisol should have a rhythm-rising in the morning upon waking and spike a few hours into your day. By night time it should be lower to get you relaxed and ready for sleep. As cortisol lowers, melatonin (our sleep hormone) starts to rise and sweet dreams await you.Stress, work, kids, bills, and many other underlying causes can confuse your body into pushing out more cortisol at the wrong times. When this happens for a prolonged period, we eventually burn out from being in a constant, chronically stressed out state. On today's episode, Cody wanted to do a deep dive into what is going on when our cortisol levels are consistently high, and how we can regulate cortisol to avoid eventual burn out. Cody often shares how important it is to reduce stress as much as possible in our lives and how giving our brain "safety signals" helps to reduce cortisol production. Cody invites her guest, Elise Jones, a Yoga Therapist, who is trained to help people that have dealt with trauma, or have certain health conditions that have come on from excess stress to join her on todays episode. Elise and Cody share with us some of the most effective strategies we can start implementing to reverse and regulate cortisol dysregulation. It's a fun conversation, full of all kinds of TLC and cool tips on how to support your adrenals and healthy cortisol rhythms.Want to connect more with Elise? You can find her on her social media accounts @utahyogaandwellness and @elisejonesyoga. Supplement recommendations if you are needing a little extra support for your 'stress system':Hertime - has ingredients that are natural ant-anxiety and ant-depressant agents, and ingredients that nourish the adrenal glands.Herpower- has nutrients that help to support the release of stress reducing, "feel good hormones", and is also a natural, non-stimulant drink that supports your boy's own natural energy production.Hernightly- has just the right amount of melatonin to help you get into a restful state before bed. It helps relieve that "wired, but tired" feeling. It also has chamomile and ashwagandha which are known to reduce anxiety and stress.Be sure to subscribe to this podcast and share this episode with all the girls you love. Does it seem like you always get migraines right before your period? Did you know that about 60% of women with migraines get a type of headache called menstrual migraines? Right before our period, the amount of estrogen and progesterone, our two female hormones, in our body drops. This drastic change can trigger throbbing headaches.Several types of headaches are linked to these changing levels of hormones. Women often get menstrual migraines anywhere from 2 days before their period to 3 days after it starts. But anything that changes estrogen and progesterone levels can cause them. The degree to which these levels shift, not the change itself, determines how severe they are.On today's episode Jess and Cody welcome their special guest, Lindsey Walker, a Mixhers customer that shares her story of struggle with"brain zaps", frequent migraines and headaches and how she has found significant relief using Herpower and Hertime to reduce them. This week, we're diving into the career of comedian Dave Chappelle. The legend of stand-up recently returned to Saturday Night Live to host their first episode since the 2020 presidential race was called for Joe Biden. The last time Chappelle hosted was the first episode following the election of President Donald Jackass Trump. He performed a 16-minute monologue that took aim at anti-maskers, racists and threw in a little bit of both-sideserism to boot but some of his more dated material taking cheap shots at the LGBTQI community left us feeling…tired. Has the multi-talented actor, comedian fallen off or has the world evolved around him? We'll answer that question and more. But first...Pass the Popcorn Tre'vell and Jarrett talk about where they were when they heard Joseph Biden got elected. DIS/Honorable MentionsThis week, Jarrett has an honorable mention for the #fantifam members who reached out over the past two weeks with feedback about where to purchase masks, about his obsession with the show The Lie and who just had something to say. We love it!Tre'vell is coming in hot with an honorable mention for the blessed and highly favored Pastor Telley Lynnette Gadson who gave the sermons of all sermons for those who have reached peak Trump-fatigue. Jarrett also has an honorable mention for gospel artist Tye Tribbett. ICYMI catch our FANTI episode all about gospel here. An honorable mention for Thee Blue Ivy Carter who will provide narration for Mathew A. Cherry's Oscar-winning book and short film Hair Love in audio-form. Her power! HER POWER!Jarrett continues his fascination with what Dwight PayPal are doing with his recommendation of HBO's The Undoing starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant. Our final honorable mention comes from Tre'vell and goes to Mauree Turner who was the first nonbinary person elected to Oklahoma's state legislature as well as the first Muslim person. Have you noticed that we are all in a deep energy crisis? As humans, we are experiencing more brain fog, brain fatigue, which leads to chronic fatigue, a debilitating condition. That's why we are always looking for an energy fix, just to get us through our day! Don't believe this, then look at the sales of coffee and energy drinks everyday! It's incredible! So many of us are going about our day running on fumes, and this is why we are reaching out for caffeine to give us that quick energy boost, but unfortunately we are also receiving the energy crash that follows. Then begins a vicious cycle...that is just so exhausting! Caffeine is a stimulant, that only provides temporary energy. But, for long-term, sustainable energy - the type of energy required for exceptional mental performance, feel good moods, vivid memory, motivation, focus, creativity, and every other positive cognitive measure - you'll need an energy strategy that promotes natural energy production in our body and in our brain.Of course, the best remedies for poor brain energy are better sleep and nutrition. You need quality sleep and good nutrition to wake up in the morning feeling more rested and energetic. However, to ensure that your brain functions at it's fullest capacity at all times, for enhanced levels of brain power, better life energy and performance, that every woman wants and needs, it's smart to implement a safe, well rounded, all-natural stack of nootropics for energy, into your daily energy strategy.Introducing Mixhers newest product, Herpower! Jess and Cody have just announced this product today, so you are the first to learn about it. They created this product because you have shared with them that you are desperate to have better energy, that you want to feel clear-headed, feel motivated to workout and to eat nutritiously, you want to play and be creative with your kids and not need a nap afterwards! They have listened, and have created this formula, meant to nourish you and to give you the support you need to perform at your best each and everyday without ever crashing. Listen in to today's episode, as they share with us more about this new product and how it can improve your energy, health and well-being.Did you learn something new today? Please let us know! 1 in 5 women in the US are the victims of rape or attempted rape, yet only 0.005% of sexual perpetrators go to prison for their actions. 17 years ago, Kaitlyn Barclay was molested by her stepdad. In this episode, she reads a journal entry, reliving this traumatic experience in hopes that her story will give the courage that other women need to step into #HERPOWER.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the ambitious, independent, powerful ladies who are staying true to #HERVOICE, #HERLIFE, #HERPOWER in spite of all the shit we deal with on a consistent basis. To all the strong women - We love you. We admire you. We love watching you kick ass and succeed. On this day, I’m taking a moment to recognize how blessed I am to live in this moment in history, in this country, as a woman. Some of the most basic things we take for granted were still an uphill battle for women just a few decades ago. A brief stroll back in history reveals that women were not allowed to…Get a credit card:In the 1970s, it was illegal for a single woman to get a credit card from the bank. And even a married woman would need the signature of her husband to open up on account. Talk about the impossibility of achieving financial independence! Wear bikinis:In the 1920s, many local governments issued standards for women’s bathing suits that prohibited them from showing too much leg on public beaches (too much leg?! Never) with law enforcement patrolling beaches with measuring tape. Women who insisted on wearing something other than an ankle-length potato sack were asked to change; defiant female bathers could be arrested. Take birth control: In the 1950s, women’s reproductive freedom and her right to decide when and whether to have children were only just beginning to be openly discussed. In 1957, the FDA approved of the birth control pill but only for "severe menstrual distress." Then, a 1965 Supreme Court ruling approved birth control but only for married woman, and #allthesingleladies were still denied the right to use oral contraceptives in 26 states. In 1972, the Supreme Court finally overturned a Massachusetts law that made distributing birth control to singles illegal. #FIGHTFORTHESINGLELADIESWork while pregnant:Up until 1964, maternity leave was considered permanent. Employers were under no obligation to retain workers who got pregnant, and as many as 40% of businesses took advantage of the lack of laws. Women carrying children didn’t have complete protection and access to benefits until the 1978 Pregnancy Discrimination Act was passed. We love you working mamas!Get an Ivy League education: As a Yalie, this still pisses me off. Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth and the other elites claimed to chose only “the best and the brightest.” Somehow not a single woman qualified. They barred their doors to half the population, not because of inferior IQs, grades or test scores, but simply because of gender. Except for Cornell, the first Ivy didn't admit women until 1977. The reason given? The Ivies would have to lower their standards to admit women. Yes, that was the argument. Practice law: Even if a woman had gone through all the years of school and passed every test, she could still be denied the right to plead a client’s case until 1971. No wonder the laws have been such bullshit. Laws for women can’t change if we don’t actually have women in the courtroom! Side note: watch the RBG Movie, On The Basis of Sex if you haven’t yet. I cried at the end, rewinded it, and cried again, her victory was that moving. … There’s much more, but these stood out to me. This is all to say, that while there is still a long road ahead, we are blessed! I hope you take time to not only celebrate your friends and family, but also to remember the many women who have come before us who have courageously fought for the progress in equality we have made today. 2. Geh in Aktion. Werde präsent und dir bewusst, was du denkst. Nimm diesen Gedanken an - sprich, sei nicht im Widerstand damit. Sei dankbar, dass du diesen Gedanken erwischt hast. Er ist ein Geschenk, denn er zeigt dir, was du jetzt verändern kannst. Dankbarkeit lässt dich alles verändern und du wirst merken, dass du diesen Gedanken einfach loslassen kannst. Jetzt frage dich, was stattdessen möglich ist. .tatsu-H1DGJUgtH.tatsu-text-block-wrap .tatsu-text-inner{width: 100%;text-align: left;} :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: HER Power ist dein Podcast für mehr Selbstliebe & Selbstverwirklichung. TUDAH YAHUAH in KING YAHUSHA HA'MASCHIACH.I heard the RUACH CHOKMAH (WISDOM) says "TEACHEM, GET WISDOM, THE PRINCIPAL THING and GET KNOWLDEGE AND UNDERSTANDING"Proverbs 4:7Proverbs 8:3-5Deut. 4:9SHEMA taken from Deut. 6:1-9TORAH: Deut. 4:4-9TUDAH YAHUAH for Parents Training up their Children in the [WAY of YAHUAH.] The WAY in which they should go and when they are older they will not depart.HALLELUYAH!TUDAH YAHUAH for being Faithful towards us in that when we ask HIM for HIS RUACH CHOKMAH (WISDOM) HE gives HER to us liberally. And upbraideth not. James 1:5Here is the Promised Prayer where by King Solomon prayed for understanding and the RUACH CHOKMAH came to him. TUDAH YAHUAH in KING YAHUSHA in HIS RUACH YAHUAH for giving us the GIFT of ETERNAL LIFE. HIS RUACH CHOKMAH (WISDOM)Proverbs 8:35 "For who so finds WISDOM finds Life and receives Favor of YAHUAH ELOHAYNU."HALLELUYAH! 1. O ELOHIYM of my fathers, and YAHUAH of mercy, who have made all things with YOUR WORD, 2. 'And ordained man through YOUR WISDOM, that he should have dominion over the creatures which YOU have made, 3. 'And order the world according to equity and righteousness, and execute judgment with an upright heart: 4. 'Give me WISDOM, that sits by YOUR throne; and reject me not from among YOUR children:5. 'For I YOUR servant and son of YOUR handmaid am a feeble person, and of a short time, and too young for the understanding of judgment and Torah.6. 'For though a man be never so perfect among the children of men, yet if YOUR WISDOM be not with him, he shall be nothing regarded. 7. 'YOU have chosen me to be a King of YOUR people, and a judge of YOUR sons and daughters: 8. 'YOU have commanded me to build a Temple upon YOUR holy mount, and an altar in the city wherein YOU dwell, a resemblance of the holy Tabernacle, which YOU have prepared from the beginning. 9. 'And WISDOM was with YOU: which knows YOUR works, and was present when YOU made the world, and knew what was acceptable in YOUR sight, and right in YOUR commandments. 10. 'O send HER out of YOUR holy heavens, and from the throne of YOUR glory, that being present SHE may labour with me, that I may know what is pleasing unto you. 11. 'For SHE knows and understands all things, and SHE shall lead me soberly in my doings, and preserve me in HER Power. 12. 'So shall my works be acceptable, and then shall I judge YOUR people righteously, and be worthy to sit in my father's seat. 13. 'For what man is he that can know the COUNSEL of ELOHIYM? or who can think what the will of YAHUAH is?14. 'For the thoughts of mortal men are miserable, and our devices are but uncertain.15. 'For the corruptible body presses down the soul, and the earthy tabernacle weighs down the mind that muses upon many things. '16. And hardly do we guess aright at things that are upon earth, and with labour do we find the things that are before us: but the things that are in Heaven who has searched out? 17. And YOUR counsel who has known, except YOU give WISDOM, and send YOUR RUACH HA'QODESH from above?18. 'For so the ways of them which lived on the earth were reformed, and men were taught the things that are pleasing unto YOU, and were saved through WISDOM. CHOKMAH SHALOMAH (WISDOM OF SOLOMON) 9:1-18 את CEPHERHALLELUYAH! TUDAH YAHUAH for HIS INFINITE WISDOM. RUACH CHOKMAH WHOM WE RECEIVE THROUGH BELIEF IN KING YAHUSHA AND REPENTING OF OUR SINS AND BEING IMMERSED IN THE NAME OF YAHUAH YAHUSHA FOR THE REMISSION OF OUR SINS AND RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE RUACH HA'QODESH.For SHE is promised to you, your children, and all those who are a far off as many as YAHUAH ELOHAYNU shall Call. Kyle Durrie is the founder of Power and Light Press, a ship-shape letterpress print shop built to handle all of life’s messy emotions. On today’s episode we covered a lot of ground including the pros & cons of different trade shows, how Kyle has grown her team and why she makes travel and down-time an important part of her life. We also talked about how Kyle has donated over $80,000 to Planned Parenthood through the selling of her Stand with Planned Parenthood Tote bags - how she did it, her motivations for giving back and how she dealt with public backlash. ON TODAY’S EPISODE: Power and Light Press, and the products they make Hiring on help when you can’t do it all anymore Kyle’s background and what led her to letterpress What lead her to start her own business & her favorite part of being a business owner Her Power and Light Press team and the roles they play The pros and cons of different trade shows Donating $80,000 to Planned Parenthood and her motivations behind it How Kyle handles negative attention and “trolls” How she structured the tote and the donations Why she makes travel and downtime an important part of her life The advice she would give to somebody wanting to start a product based business What’s next for Power and Light Press KEY TAKE-AWAYS: “You need to balance between what your interests are, what your passion is, but then also, what's the best use of your time.” - Katie Hunt “I do love being my own boss. I love setting whatever weird schedule I want to stick to.” - Kyle Durrie “When I step back and think that I make a living and help support other people's lives by making stupid greeting cards, I'm constantly blown away by that.” - Kyle Durrie “It makes such a difference to have a team you can trust, that you have confidence in, for when you can't be there.” - Kyle Durrie “It was all for a good cause and I still believe in it and I am really proud of what we've done and what my team has managed to do.” - Kyle Durrie “I made this product and I better stand behind it and know what I'm talking about because I was being challenged, and I think that was really useful for me to not just throw some meme up online and then walk away.” - Kyle Durrie “It's got to make sense for your business because all the good will in the world, if it ends up putting you out of business, it maybe isn't ... Maybe it wasn't the best idea.” - Kyle Durrie “You can do good in the world without it being a drain on your business or without it negatively impacting the sustainability of your company.” - Katie Hunt “It's always been a really important part of my life to kind of resettle me and to re-inspire me to just make me feel like a complete human being.” - Kyle Durrie “It's really such a good time for me to reflect and step away from my personal life, from my work life, and just kind of re-figure myself out.” - Kyle Durrie “It makes such a huge difference when you're not stressed out because your rent is $1500. You don't need that right away. Start in your closet or wherever you have some space and then just kind of grow as it demands” - Kyle Durrie “ I think there are a lot of people nowadays that want just the playbook or whatever it might be, and the fact of the matter is, even with a playbook you've still got to go through the trial and error of learning and figuring out what works best for you.” - Katie Hunt LINKS: Website: www.powerandlightpress.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/powerandlightpress/ JOIN THE TSBC FAMILY: Do you want to scale your business and add new revenue streams? For many people in relationships, the real success test is how you approach compromise. But for some, this is a minefield full of explosive behavior and triggers. So the question tonight is: are you living with an emotional terrorist? To be clear, we are not talking about abuse of any kind but rather the fear and ineptitude many of us feel when we have to deal with conflict in our love lives. Our guest tonight says we must learn to eliminate “terrorist” words that turn smooth-flowing conversations into danger zones. Meet Dr. Susan Heitler. Educated at Harvard and NYU, she writes popular Psychology Today and YourTango.com blogposts that have garnered over seven millions reads. Her Power of Two book and workbook teaches couples the skills for marriage success. Dr. Heitler is frequently interviewed in magazines such as Fitness, Men's Health, Women's World, Parenting and the Ladies Home Journal column “Can This Marriage Be Saved?” (which was developed as a TV show I hosted years ago!) And get this: in May 2004 Dr. Heitler appeared on the CBS Early Show where anchor Harry Smith introduced her as “the most influential person in my life—my therapist.” Her websites are www.poweroftwomarriage.com and www.therapyhelp.com.

This is good standalone advice, but it also supports #HerPower Biz Tips #2 - You Need to Know Other People and Build Lasting Connections and #6 - You Need To Know How and What to Delegate. Good mentors and peers can help you by sharing industry-specific knowledge and information, as well as general business advice. This is also where joining a formal mastermind or networking group can really add value and educate you as you grow. Additionally, if you’re spending six hours on your WordPress plugin to capture email addresses or change the font on your website’s welcome page, then you clearly don’t know WordPress and should therefore delegate that task to someone else.

People dream of the open road, but do they dream of hitting the highway with thousands of pounds of metal type? Kyle Durrie did, and she's spent the last two years crisscrossing America like a Janey Typeseed. She funded her initial excursions almost three years ago through Kickstarter for the Type Truck, a converted packet van from which she teaches about letterpress type and printing. Her Power and Light Press relocated its permanent home last year from Portland to New Mexico, from which state she still takes tours when the roads cooperate.
