Sources suggest that if evidence is found that the royal improperly sought to direct or influence police resources, then the offence of misconduct in public office could be in play.Meanwhile, in the United States and in political circles, pressure is building for action — though no formal prosecution has yet been confirmed. Former England ruby captain Lewis Moody recently revealed he had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and our conversations give an insight into how lives can be overturned by this muscle wasting condition. Dr Mehboob in Canada was diagnosed five years ago and is now paralysed from the neck down. He is joined in conversation by his wife, Sophie, and Evy in Belgium, whose dad died last year 46 years after his diagnosis. MND is incurable. Over time, muscles weaken, affecting movement, speech eating and breathing. People over 50 are most likely to get the disease but there is evidence that elite athletes are also disproportionately affected. We bring together Narayana in India with James and Gillian in the UK, who were all diagnosed in their 30s, to share their experiences of living with the condition.

By 1985, Simple Minds were coming off a #1 album in the UK with Sparkle in the Rain and sales from all around the world. But it only went to #64 in the US and they needed something to spark greater interest across the pond. When Don't You Forget About Me from The Breakfast Club Soundtrack hit #1 in May 1985, a song they originally resisted, they had that spark and built on that success with memorable performance at Live Aid in Philadelphia. Their next album would need to be special to keep the momentum building. New York producer Jimmy Iovine (Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty) came to London to work with the boys as they welcomed in new bass player John Giblin. He encourage Jim to emote more - to really sing his heart out - in the studio and his soul is captured on Once Upon A Time. Jim's lyrics are optimistic about the future - the native Glaswegians know where they come from (Oh Jungleland) and can be proud of what they've accomplished (Come a Long Way). Alive and Kicking would be the first single to follow up #1 smash Don't You Forget About Me and soared up the charts, thanks in part to a music video shot in the Pocono Mountains - former Simple Minds drummer Mel Gaynor enlightens us with a funny story from that video shoot! They can get political without getting preachy (Ghostdancing) while bringing you to your feet with glorious salvation (Sanctify Yourself). Released October 21, 1985, Once Upon A Time would be the 2nd consecutive #1 in the UK and the 1st gold record for the band in the US. But what if they put Don't You Forget About Me on it? However, these landfills create a compacted environment that causes the waste to rot without air, producing methane. Most of the landfills in the world release methane into the air, which is harmful to the environment. Daniel talks about the cost to build landfills, which can be hundreds of millions of dollars. He said waste management will always be one of the biggest single line items on your local government bill. He discusses the potential for Bitcoin mining to utilize wasted energy from hydro dams, as demonstrated by Bhutan. Bhutan used wasted energy from the hydro dams to mine Bitcoin, which helped them avoid an IMF bailout. Now Bitcoin mining is 40% of their entire GDP. There are now 10 nation states that are mining bitcoin. According to Daniel, the predominant method has been to mine bitcoin as a nation state and to acquire Bitcoin that way. Daniel discusses the IMF's concerns about Bitcoin adoption in countries like El Salvador, Argentina, Pakistan, and the Central African Republic. He suggests that the IMF's concerns are not genuine but are driven by the fear of losing customers and geopolitical influence. He discusses John Perkins's work on economic hitmen and how the IMF and World Bank can trap countries in debt cycles, extracting resources and influencing their economies. Daniel shares that he is currently located in Costa Rica, where he is working on projects to capture landfill gas and use it for Bitcoin mining. He's working on establishing the infrastructure needed to capture and utilize landfill gas for Bitcoin mining. He highlights the challenges of finding suitable sites for Bitcoin mining, regardless of the energy source. He discusses CH4 Capital, a company he operates where people can get a non-exceptional return. CH4 capital is a vehicle where people can get a combination of money coming in through the loan repayments, but also through the carbon credits without the conditions that the IMF have attached. Finally, Daniel shares who he would give his last orange pill to: the head of the United Nations, because the story of Bitcoin's social utility is so untold. He says that if the head of the UN knew that 300,000 refugees have used Bitcoin to flee their homeland and set up from scratch, then those sorts of stories would just find their way through into popular consciousness much more.

On today's episode, I talk to musician Gina Birch. Originally from Nottingham in the UK, Gina formed the seminal art-punk band The Raincoats with Ana da Silva in 1977. They released three incredible records on Rough Trade - self-titled, Odyshape and Moving - and then broke up in 1984. But this was merely the start of Gina's artistic career. She worked with Red Crayola, formed the band Dorothy, became a filmmaker and music video director, reunited with Ana to support Nirvana on tour and subsequently make another album as The Raincoats, and of course, record music under her own name. Her first solo album I Play My Bass Loud came out in 2021, and her latest Trouble was just released on Third Man Records, and it's great!
