Story 1: Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) just can't keep her mouth shut about Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, an American hero who has restored the confidence of thousands of men (not to be confused with the other Jeffrey Epstein) as evidenced by a recent appearance on MS Now where she appeared to double down on her misleading claims towards EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin. Will reacts to more Crockett insanity, before discussing Elon Musk's claim that smartphones will be replaced by AI within the next decade.Story 2: Host of ‘Off Leash with Erik Prince,' and founder of the private military contractor Blackwater, Erik Prince joins to explain some startling revelations made about the man who shot two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C. shooter last week. Later, Erik compares the current wave of immigration to the Irish and Italian immigration waves of the mid 1800s, before reacting to President Donald Trump's increased pressure on Venezuela.Story 3: Will brings in The Crew to discuss Lane Kiffin becoming public enemy No. 1 in College Football after ditching Ole Miss for LSU, before getting into a heated debate over whether or not Texas deserves to be in this season's College Football Playoffs. Brad takes a hard look at the American right's response to the recent shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, DC, and shows how the rhetoric around the tragedy signals a shift from overt Christian nationalism to something even broader and more dangerous: Western supremacy. He traces how this worldview draws from older ideas about civilizational conflict and cultural hierarchy and how it is now being revived by politicians, pundits, and tech billionaires who frame immigration and diversity as threats to the survival of the West. Using statements from Donald Trump, Fox News, Elon Musk, and leaders of conservative think tanks, Brad breaks down how the language has moved from “protecting Christian America” to “defending Western civilization” and how that shift expands the target while narrowing the circle of belonging. He explains why Western supremacy is an exclusionary, anti democratic ideology and how it lays the groundwork for policies that declare entire groups incompatible with society. It is a sobering, sharp analysis of a growing political narrative that insists not everyone deserves a place at the table. After less than a year, the Department of Government Efficiency, better known as DOGE, is done. The controversial cost-cutting initiative was initially led by the equally controversial tech billionaire Elon Musk. Did DOGE succeed in what it set out to do? While much has been made of the steep cuts in the number of federal employees, there was also what Musk called a mandate from President Donald Trump to “delete the mountain” of government regulations and remake the government with AI. USA TODAY Politics Reporter Kathryn Palmer joins USA TODAY's The Excerpt to dive into all things DOGE.Have feedback on the show? Please send us an email at podcasts@usatoday.com. Send us a textBelieve it or not, the origin of Artificial Intelligence goes back 100 years! But even with it's long history, there is no doubt that it has exploded and surged forward in the last 10 years. Some say AI poses a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization. Others say with AI, we are summoning the demons. Still others say there is a good chance that AI will be beneficial for everyone. And then there's those in the middle who say AI will be the best thing and worst thing for humanity. Americans have a glum view of the economy, but that is not expected to affect their consumer spending as holiday shopping kicks off. According to a recent Fox News survey, 76% of Americans have a negative view of the economy. At the end of President Joe Biden's term, this number was 70%. Yet while Americans appear to be losing faith in the vitality of the U.S. economy, they don't plan on slowing their own holiday shopping habits. The International Council of Shopping Centers reports that between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday, 235 million American adults are expected to spend $127 billion, for an average of $542 a person—a $13 increase from the average spent over the long holiday weekend last year. Millennials are projected to be the biggest spenders, with the International Council of Shopping Center estimating the generation born between 1981 and 1996 will drop an average of $764 a person during the five-day shopping period. So what's the disconnect? Why do the same Americans who feel the economy is flooding appear to feel good enough about their personal bank account to go out and drop several hundred dollars in just a few days? Nicole Huyer, a senior research associate in The Heritage Foundation's Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies, joins this week's edition of “Problematic Women” to discuss. Also on today's show, we discuss spending differences between men and women. Plus, will New York City-Mayor elect Zohran Mamdani actually be able to implement his socialist wish list in the Big Apple? And if he can, what will that mean not only for New York City's economy, but the economic health of the nation. This week Bob is absent in protest of Chad's joke made on last week's live. Nonetheless, Haley, Chad and Mary Lou cover the top stories of the week and Mary Lou's mind might be changing. We discuss:
In Episode 231, Dave records a lengthier episode early for the holiday weekend and starts the show discussing the presence of ICE in Charlotte resulting in 20% of the student population not showing up. From there, he reviews the latest in a long line of corruption in the Democratic Party. First up is a Dem Rep stealing $5M in FEMA funds followed by an Arizona Dem stealing $63M in Covid funds. Dave returns to Congress because it seems Hakeem Jeffries (aka the Brooklyn Barack Obama) was soliciting donations from Epstein and MTG may have ties to George Soros and other previously undisclosed issues with being in Congress. The toxic politic topics continues with Killary and her latest comments regarding a nationwide announcement that Trump had been unalived which forces Dave to have a little thought experiment regarding a possible trigger for CW2. Speaking of possible triggers, Dave takes some time to discuss the Seditious Six and their little video. After that, there is a discussion of the nation's financial sector, a possible rate cut in December, and new IRS tax code thresholds. Also, it seems we're going to have a resurgent GOP once Trump is out of office because the Bush family is planning to retake the party back. After all of that domestic news, Dave closes the show by reviewing a video of an American citizen being detained at the airport in England and charged with terrorism because he ridiculed Islam and Elon Musk add a new feature to ‘X' that exposes account locations. Support Dave by visiting his new website at Two Rivers Outfitter for all of your preparedness needs and you can also visit his Etsy shop at DesignsbyDandTStore for fun clothing and merchandise options. After surviving Thanksgiving and the subsequent biting cold, we jumped into the FOLLOW UP with news that Malaysia is joining the trend by taking steps to ban social media for children under 16, mirroring similar actions in Australia and Denmark—it seems the world is finally realizing the internet is a toxic wasteland for the kids. We also discussed Apple's photo AI, which is apparently still in beta, if the results are anything to go by. The bulk of our discussion centered on the spectacular, flaming death of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is Officially Dead. We broke down a brief rundown of the damages this vanity project caused, from humanitarian disasters overseas to administrative chaos and the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs domestically, proving the "savings" were pure illusion. Now, with the collapse, the 'Suddenly exposed' DOGE employees fear prosecution after Musk abandoned them, learning the hard way that billionaire guardianship has an expiration date. The job market is just great, with both Apple laying off part of its sales team despite record revenue, and HP joining the List of Tech Companies Cutting Jobs and pointing to AI as the convenient scapegoat for laying off 10% of their workforce. Meanwhile, we found out the most popular social media platform among US adults isn't Instagram or TikTok—it's YouTube—while Meta allegedly buried research showing its products are harming users, confirming what we've known all along: they're evil, but they already got your grandma hooked. Adding to the misery, An Alarming Number of Teens Say They Turn To AI For Company, Study Finds, because why talk to a real, messy human when a bot can gaslight you more efficiently? Sam Altman's financial troubles are spilling over, with Sam Altman's Business Buddies Are Getting Stung (sorry, SoftBank and Oracle), and analysts estimate OpenAI Is Just $200 Billion Away From Still Losing Money, HSBC Says, a comical hole they plan to fill by asking for more free money. Legally, OpenAI can't use the Word ‘Cameo' in Sora now, thanks to a trademark suit, and Warner Music is playing both sides by dropping its lawsuit against Suno in exchange for a licensing agreement. Finally, in some truly dark news, a Marc Andreessen-backed Super-PAC Pours Millions Into Fighting State AI Regulations, and X's new location feature reveals that New X Feature Reveals Many MAGA Patriots on X Are Not Even Based in the U.S.After ranting about my misery dealing with the Open Dialogue bug in a beta build and declaring my return to "pedestrian releases," we got into APPS & DOODADS. Spotify is actually doing something cool with its new SongDNA feature, which shows you who sampled what (and they bought WhoSampled to do it). They're also testing Spotify's New AI-powered audiobook Recaps to remind you where you left off—Amazon is doing the same with AI-powered series Recap Videos for Prime Video. Amazon is also rolling out Alexa Home Theater surround sound for Echo speakers, making those budget speakers slightly more useful. We ran through some great stocking stuffers in Jason's Holiday Gift Guide, including Velcro cable ties and the Contigo travel mug, before moving on to MEDIA CANDY, which included Dan Carlin's Common Sense, Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk's new podcast Once We Were Spacemen, and a discussion on why Stranger Things Lost the Plot. We then got deeply uncomfortable talking about a Toronto ASMR spa that offers doctor roleplay, and closed out by talking about the documentary Quiet Please… about the neurological disorder misophonia. The episode finished with the AT THE LIBRARY segment, covering the Milli Vanilli memoir You Know It's True and the sci-fi short story collection The Time Travelers Passport.Show notes at https://gog.show/724Watch now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/PoMa9FM5QEE?si=4r25yqv_0u8aXHF7Sponsors:MasterClass - Get up to 50% off at MASTERCLASS.com/GRUMPYOLDGEEKSGusto - Try Gusto today at gusto.com/grumpy, and get three months free when you run your first payroll.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. Andrew Ross Sorkin has spent his career following the money to understand everything — from Wall Street to Silicon Valley, from media to AI. A journalist who never set out to be one, Sorkin built DealBook into the Super Bowl of business journalism, turning curiosity into empire-building. In Boardroom's October Cover Story, he shares how an overheard word such as “internet” landed him at The New York Times, how he approaches interviews like a tennis rally rather than a serve, and why Oprah remains his white whale. Through stories of Too Big to Fail, the 1929 crash, and the coming AI reckoning, Sorkin unpacks how narrative drives markets, crashes, and comebacks alike. From Elon Musk's many personas to the billion-dollar game of sports, streaming, and live entertainment, this is Andrew Ross Sorkin: journalist, storyteller, dealmaker — chasing what feels impossible, one conversation at a time.

Most people treat their career pivot like a crisis. Adam approached his like compounding interest — small, consistent moves that eventually broke the equation. We talk about the finance industry's myths (no, you are not beating the market), why sharing your story works even when you think you're “not that person,” how giving away thousands of books became a growth engine, and why content creation is the new credibility layer for every entrepreneur. We explore the second-life moment: when you've spent years mastering one system only to realize the next version of you is waiting in a completely different world. Adam's journey from “professional low-stakes grifter” (his words for financial advisors) to founder of a fast-growing media company is a case study in paying attention to what starts pulling you forward. This isn't a story about leaving finance. It's a story about finally doing work that compounds in every direction.TL;DR* No one beats the market: Most managed-money careers hide behind complexity; transparency wins.* Your story is an asset: A book isn't a $5 product — it's a credibility accelerant.* Content scales trust: Podcasting, writing, and storytelling create leverage regulated industries never allow.* Pivots aren't leaps: They're a series of realizations you can't unknow.* Second-life careers reward clarity: When you know what you can do exceptionally well, the right path becomes obvious.Key Themes1. The Finance IllusionAdam spent 14 years across every side of the money-management business — IRA departments, CFP work, retirement plans, running his own RIA. The deeper he went, the clearer the hard truth became:Complexity sells. Simplicity performs. Most investors would do better with a simple S&P split and quarterly rebalancing than paying a point-plus in fees. The industry doesn't like that sentence.2. The Accidental AuthorAdam wrote his first book because his mentor forced him to.He didn't believe in $5 products. He didn't believe in writing books. He definitely didn't believe he had a story worth telling. But giving away thousands of books changed everything:* Attracted assets* Opened doors* Taught him the power of simple ideas (compound interest, APR, basic personal finance)* Showed him that people are starving for clarity, not complexityStories scale. Silence doesn't.3. When Others Ask You to LeadPeers started asking Adam to help them publish books — CEOs, business owners, professionals. He thought it was absurd. But the model worked: anthology-style, collaborative, marketing budget pooled, broad distribution. What started as a side experiment became a series that has now published 400+ authors.4. The Media PivotWith books working and the podcast exploding, Adam faced a choice:Try to run two careers poorly, or choose one and let it compound. He chose media. Nine years later, that call looks obvious.5. The Bigger RealizationMoney is an accounting entry for resource ownership. But we're consuming resources at an unsustainable pace to create more accounting entries.Every financial system eventually resets. What matters isn't the illusion of compounding — it's the relationships, reputation, and value you build that survive resets.Memorable Lines* “If you can market yourself in finance, you can grow 10x faster in a non-regulated industry.”* “I thought broke people wrote books — turns out authors build trust faster than anyone.”* “You don't need to beat the market; you need to beat obscurity.”* “I'm not Elon. I can do one thing really well — that's it. And that's enough.”* “Content is the new credibility. Silence is the new obscurity.”GuestAdam Torres — Media Founder, Author, PodcasterCo-founder of Mission Matters, publisher of hundreds of books and host of nationally distributed business podcasts. Former CFP and RIA owner turned media-builder helping entrepreneurs amplify their stories.LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamtorres8/Website: https://missionmatters.com/Why This MattersBecause your second life might not look like an escape — it might look like leverage.Adam's story shows that the skills you build in one industry become unstoppable when combined with storytelling, ownership, and the courage to pivot. If you want a career that compounds — not just capital but impact, relationships, opportunities — you have to build something the system can't reset: your voice, your story, your platform.Call to ActionIf this conversation lit something up for you, don't just let it fade. These audio exclusives are made possible thanks to our member supporters.Description [original release date July 2025]: Sara Nelson knows how to leverage worker power — and so do the 55,000 flight attendants she represents. A union member since 1996, she's been the International President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO since 2014. You may remember her integral role in threatening a strike, which helped pressure the Trump administration to end the 2019 government shutdown. But under the second Trump term, the administration plans to gut many government agencies and has canceled one million contracts for federal workers so far. “We have to understand that if one group is under attack, we're next,” she tells Laura Flanders in this exclusive interview. “So we have to rush to each other's sides.” In this episode, Nelson and Flanders explore labor movement tactics and strategies, wins and losses, and why general strikes and cross-industry worker solidarity are critical in this moment. What is her message and her mission for 2025? All that, plus a commentary from Laura on floods and profits.“We have to understand that if one group is under attack, we're next. So we have to rush to each other's sides. But we can also turn this around and not just be on defense. . . We are in a crisis. Yeah. Our world is burning. We can actually set the agenda and make things better.”Guest: Sara Nelson: International President of the Association of Flight Attendants- (AFA-CWA) (representing 55,000 Flight Attendants at 20 airlines) Watch the episode released on YouTube July 18th 5pm ET; PBS World Channel July 20th, and on over 300 public stations across the country (check your listings, or search here via zipcode). MY NEWSLETTER - https://nikolas-newsletter-241a64.beehiiv.com/subscribeJoin me, Nik (https://x.com/CoFoundersNik), as I interview Amanda Orson (https://x.com/amandaorson). We dive deep into how massive efficiency gains from AI are revolutionizing startups, allowing companies to run much leaner than ever before. Amanda explains her approach of Seed strapping—taking outside capital just once to get the initial product, like Navigator or the B2B directory, off the ground, and then relying on rapid revenue reinvestment to accelerate growth and preserve equity. She reveals that between 50% and 60% of their code is now AI generated, and we discuss the possibility of the first single person unicorn company. We focus heavily on practical AI frameworks, including how Amanda uses ChatGPT's operator as a "proof of concept" to validate whether or not a function can be automated before investing further. We break down the differences between using ChatGPT versus Claude, with Amanda emphasizing that Claude is often superior for creating "tighter" projects that involve deep research and dynamic artifacts. Plus, she shares her incredible "cheat code" for turning historical figures or admired business leaders—like Edwin Land or Elon Musk—into specialized AI thought partners by curating their transcripts and distillations. She even offers a starting point for any business owner looking to dive into AI for the first time.Enjoy the conversation!__________________________Questions This Episode Answers:What is Seed strapping and how can it help founders preserve equity? How much leaner can a modern company run now that AI can generate code? What is the "genius framework" for using operator to validate the feasibility of automation? How can you use Claude projects to create a specialized AI thought partner out of business idols?Should you use ChatGPT or Claude as your primary AI workhorse for data projects?__________________________Love it or hate it, I'd love your feedback. Please fill out this brief survey with your opinion or email me at nik@cofounders.com with your thoughts.__________________________MY NEWSLETTER: https://nikolas-newsletter-241a64.beehiiv.com/subscribeSpotify: https://tinyurl.com/5avyu98yApple: https://tinyurl.com/bdxbr284YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/nikonomicsYT__________________________This week we covered:00:00 The Rise of AI and Its Impact on Business02:55 Seed Strapping: A New Approach to Funding06:07 Leveraging AI for Efficiency and Growth09:04 Using AI as a Thought Partner11:51 Data Management and Analysis with AI15:06 The Future of AI in Business17:58 Practical Applications of AI Tools21:10 Navigating AI for Business Owners
Everyone: one of the big existential changes in management and leadership is a whole new model for talent. Today, for the first time in human history, we've agreed to pay one person a $Trillion dollars for his skills (Elon Musk). And this trend is growing. Google paid $2.7 Billion to hire Noam Shazeer, the co-founder of Character AI. Mark Zuckerberg paid around $100 Million to hire Jiahui You, a top OpenAI researcher. And others, Lucas Beyer, Alexander Kolesnikov & Xiaohua Zhai, were rumored to receive $100 M signing bonuses to join Meta. What's going on? What happened to our belief in the “bell curve” of performance, forced rankings, salary bands, and all the traditional ideas of talent management? Well it's time to throw that stuff out the window and think differently. As many researchers have pointed out, including Boris Groyberg from Harvard, these “hyperperformers” can deliver 100 to 1000 times higher outcomes than an “average” employee and their utility and value is very hard to reproduce. Groyberg's studies show that hyper-performers in one company turn into middling performers in another. And this is borne out by our research, which shows that individuals who fit the culture and behaviors of a company well can absolutely deliver 10-fold higher performance than those who “grind the gears.” All this said, the traditional talent management model has not worked out well, and I want to encourage you to ditch it. Even the job market itself bears this out: some “10x engineers” make 5 times as much money as engineers sitting next to them, and the same is true for sales people, consultants, politicians, and athletes. (The top ten NBA players make 7X more pay than the “average” NBA player.) So why do we try to “commoditize” this into a bell-curve based talent system? Integrated Talent Management, as defined by HR, leads to over-hiring, layoffs, and all sorts of “performance commoditizing” effects. If you use the Talent Density philosophy, by contrast, you wind up with a smaller company which performs at a much higher level. Listen to this podcast and I'll explain all that needs to be addressed. Suffice it to say that in a world of AI-powered Superworkers, it's your talent system (as a whole) that's going to drive extraordinary growth and competitive advantage, not fitting people into the bell curve. In this week's episode, we experience the whipsaw—that aggressive, back-and-forth sawing motion that's now a perfect metaphor for what Republicans are doing to millions of American families over the Affordable Care Act.We watch in real time as Trump's promised two-year ACA subsidy extension is announced, then delayed, then killed by Mike Johnson—all within 48 hours. Why did Republicans pull the rug out from under tens of millions of Americans who depend on these subsidies? Because destroying every trace of Barack Obama's legacy remains their load-bearing promise to the MAGA base.We also discuss why Mamdani's meeting with Trump wasn't surprising (treating grandpa like he's at the nursing home works), celebrate Lindsay Halligan's legal troubles, and reveal that a huge number of MAGA accounts on X are actually foreign side hustlers getting paid to polarize Americans. Plus: DOGE employees suddenly realize Elon might not protect them from prosecution, Bari Weiss wants to redefine acceptable debate by elevating "charismatic" figures like Alan Dershowitz, and Trump denies disaster aid to Chicago after devastating summer storms.Happy Thanksgiving from the Cornfield Resistance! On Monday's Mark Levin Show, thanks to Elon Musk and his new policy of making the location of posters publicly known. You can see all the scum from throughout the world posting vile comments about America, Israel, etc., many who claimed to be reporting from Gaza, others who sought money by claiming to be from Gaza, and the corporate media and podcasters who used the false information to advance a poisonous narrative. You can also see the numerous antisemitic commenters on Mark's account who are based all over the world. It also raises another question about the amount of traffic some of the most contemptible, racist, and antisemitic "influencers" are getting from different parts of the world. Those who report analytics, etc., should include that information when putting out their reports. Let the chips fall where they may. Also, the reasons those 6 Democrats put out the video to our military personnel signaling when to defy a presidential order is: 1. to encourage defiance by military personnel to any order they may disagree with; 2. to create the implication that the president has or will issue unconstitutional or illegal orders; and, 3. to encourage defiance in the ranks against the commander-in-chief. What these 6 did was a direct attack on the president and civilian authority and it is they who are shredding our Constitution. Afterward, James Comey and Letitia James are not out of the woods. There was no substantive decision. In fact, there was no decision with prejudice. The administration is appealing. Or the appointment of another prosecutor who meets the judge's objection can get the cases going again. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Kaizen Asiedu is a Harvard educated philosopher whose ‘clear thinking' has awarded him recognition by the likes of Elon Musk. While considered a ‘black conservative' by most of his audience, Kaizen defies labels, preferring to show the math of his thinking to arrive at nuanced conclusions. This podcast puts the second term of Donald J. Trump under the spotlight. What did he do well? Where did he fall short? In addition Kaizen reinforces the principle that “politics need spirituality, and spirituality needs politics.” And furthermore, “You might not be into politics, but politics are into you.”His destiny may take him to follow in the shoes of Charlie Kirk, in his own unique way, speaking on college campuses with his blend of compassion and clarity. This was a fascinating conversation that sharpened the sword of my own critical thinking immensely. | Kaizen Asiedu |Website | https://www.kaizenasiedu.com/Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/thatskaizen/X | https://x.com/thatsKAIZENThis episode is sponsored by►Metal Mark Golden Collectable Art | https://mtlmrk.com/►Korrect Energy | https://korrectlife.com/| Aubrey Marcus |Website | http://bit.ly/2GesYqi Instagram | http://bit.ly/2BlfCEO Facebook | http://bit.ly/2F4nBZk X | http://bit.ly/2BlGBAdAdSubscribe to the Aubrey Marcus newsletter:https://www.aubreymarcus.com/pages/emailTo partner with the Aubrey Marcus PodcastSubscribe to the Aubrey Marcus podcast:iTunes | https://apple.co/2lMZRCn Spotify | https://spoti.fi/2EaELZO Stitcher | http://bit.ly/2G8ccJt IHeartRadio | https://ihr.fm/3CiV4x3

Once primarily limited to severely disabled people, autism began to be viewed as a spectrum that included children and adults far less impaired. Along the way, the disorder also became an identity, embraced by college graduates and even by some of the world's most successful people, like Elon Musk and Bill Gates.Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has called the steep rise in autism cases “an epidemic.” He blames theories of causality that mainstream scientists reject — like vaccines and, more recently, Tylenol — and has instructed the C.D.C. to abandon its longstanding position that vaccines do not cause autism.Today, Azeen Ghorayshi explains what's really driving the increase in diagnoses.Guest: Azeen Ghorayshi, a science reporter for The New York Times. Background reading: Should the autism spectrum be split apart? There are no easy answers for parents of children with autism.Photo: Eric Gay/Associated PressFor more information on today's episode, visit nytimes.com/thedaily.
