We’ve been walking through a series called Three Funerals From Revival. If revival is a life lived in pursuit of the glory of God, then there are some things that cannot coexist with that desire. Some things must die in order for us to see God’s glory. Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen that pride and religion must die. This week, we’re going to find out why Jezebel must die. There are only around 40 or 50 verses in the whole Bible about Jezebel, but the depth of her depravity and cold-hearted evil certainly left its mark on the world. Jezebel was the daughter of the king of the Sidonians, and Ahab, who was the king of Israel, married her. He gladly imported her idolatry to Israel, and through Jezebel’s influence, it became a state-sponsored religion.

TWO MOTIVATIONS FOR BEING A LEADER: The REWARD-Based Leader: PERKS and POWER The RESPONSIBILITY-Based Leader: SERVE and CARE When you bend down to SERVE, God can lift you up to LEADE> Matthew 20:20-28 20 Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him. 21 “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.” 22 “You don't know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” they answered. 23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.” 24 When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. 25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” If you want to lead for any other reason than to SERVE OTHERS, you will never be a great leader. It's impossible to LEAD like Jesus if you won't SERVE like Jesus. TWO HINDRANCES TO OVERCOME: PRIDE: Self-PROMOTION FEAR: Self-PROTECTION 3 CHARACTERISTICS OF A SERVANT LEADER: A Servant-Leader works to make OTHERS look good. A Servant-Leader fins APPROVAL in one place: GOD. A Servant-Leader welcomes FEEDBACK because it helps them improve for the benefit of others. BOTTOM LINE: SERVING is not what I do, a SERVANT is who I am. THE CHALLENGE: What's one specific way you can start serving others on a regular basis?

Parneet Pal, M.B.B.S., M.S. is a Harvard- and Columbia-trained physician working at the intersection of lifestyle medicine, technology, and behavior change. An educator and science communicator, she applies her subject matter expertise to optimize human health and its impact on business leadership and planetary wellbeing. She strongly believes we can create a compassionate, equitable society where health is the default. As Chief Science Officer, Wisdom Labs focuses on solving stress, burnout, and loneliness in the workplace. Wisdom Labs aspires to build wiser workplaces using the science of mindfulness and to scale the skills of mental resilience, emotional intelligence, and compassionate leadership across organizations. She speaks about the connections between Health, Leadership, and Climate at Fortune 500 companies and global conferences, including Web Summit (Lisbon), Slush (Helsinki), Leade.rs (Paris), The Next Web (Amsterdam), Tech Open Air (Berlin), WELCOA (Wellness Council of America), Wisdom 2.0 (San Francisco), and ACLM (American College of Lifestyle Medicine) and Singularity University. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Parneet Pal discuss:Current trends in stress and burnout in the workplace Positive and Negative stress Why we should build resilience to stress in the workplaceWhat we can do to build strength to stress and avoid burnout Key Takeaways:Stress is every day, but it's dangerous to get used to it. Stress can be alleviated with a variety of solutions. By increasing your resilience to stress, you increase your tolerance and feel fewer adverse effects. Building resilience to stress has a great return of investment both to the organization and the individual. Encouraging people to take from their time to take care of themselves is not enough. Corporations need to find a way to incorporate mindfulness and other stress-relieving practices into their workers' schedules and overall workplace culture. Start meetings and corporate gatherings with gratitude and checking in on each other how each one is feeling. "The teams that were able to navigate adversity in skillful ways are the ones that took the time to say “Wait for a second before we get to the agenda, how are you?” even little moments of check-in can be compelling ways to engage into that kind of mindful awareness and listening" — Parneet Pal. With Steve Thomas, an Innovation Director at JPI Media, we dive into the ways to set up your innovation machine (no matter whether you are a startup or a mature organisation). We discuss the importance of empathy not only towards the customers but also towards the internal stakeholders whose necks are on the line. We also talk that you can’t predict innovation but you can enable for it but in order to do so you need to have a “punk mentality”, a rebellious spirit informed by strong passion and purpose to become a champion of innovation.LINKSStory of Dyson making ventilatorsStory of Cristian Fracassi 3d-printing ventilators’ valvesStory about helping to feed the frontline initiativeDaniel Pink “Drive”Ryan Holiday, “Ego is the enemy”

What are we here to do? In a nutshell, our highest life goal is to master our self and become God! But how do we do that? Loïc will share with us his thoughts on why most people never manage to get their ideas out of their heads and into the real world, what he learned from the mistakes he made launching one startup that failed, and how his daily mindfulness practice helps him filter reality, recover from upsetting experiences, and maintain his trademark positive attitude.
