Last night, Red Wine & Blue held an emergency community meeting to support Springfield, Ohio against an impending ICE surge. A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from ending protections for Haitians in Springield, but the fight is far from over. The Department of Homeland Security says they are taking the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. 15,000 Haitians in Springfield could lose their status in a matter of weeks and ICE could surge. We stood up for Springfield, Ohio, when JD Vance and Donald Trump lied about Haitians who live and work there during the 2024 campaign, and we're doing it again now. In this virtual event, we heard from local residents and legal experts, raised funds for local groups providing direct support to Haitian families in Springfield, and thousands took action, no matter where they're from. For a transcript of this episode, please email comms@redwine.blue. With climate-driven disasters becoming the new normal, building resilience is the grail. Communities around the world are developing models created out of practical necessity. We hear on-the-ground stories from two different communities building resilience in the wake of serial disasters. Estrella Santiago Perez and her innovative community rights organization ENLACE have helped organize a collection of marginalized neighborhoods in San Juan, Puerto Rico to overcome the twin catastrophes of Hurricane Maria and a failed government. And far away in the fire-ravaged communities near California's relatively well-off wine country, Trathen Heckman helped lead the nonprofit grassroots group Daily Acts to build a resilience network from the ground up with engaged citizens action, civil society groups and Sonoma County government agencies. This is an episode of the Bioneers: Revolution from the Heart of Nature series. Visit the radio and podcast homepage to learn more.

This might be the most important episode we've ever done, and we swear we're not just saying that. If you work in or around philanthropy, stop what you're doing and listen. Nonprofits are facing record demand—higher than during COVID—and they're getting less funding. Not just from government. From foundations too. The sector is in freefall, and many of the people with the resources to help don't even see a problem. Eric sits down with Elisha Smith Arrillaga, Vice President at the Center for Effective Philanthropy, to unpack their devastating new report, A Sector in Crisis: How US Nonprofits and Foundations Are Responding to Threats. The findings reveal a staggering disconnect: 40% of nonprofits say that funders have shifted priorities in ways that are less helpful at this dire moment. And get this - 20% of foundations say they don't have much responsibility to help nonprofits navigate this moment at all!! This isn't a wake-up call. It's a five-alarm fire. And if foundations don't start closing the gap between what they think they're doing and what nonprofits actually need, organizations will close. Communities will suffer. And philanthropy will have failed the very moment it was built for. Unless philanthropy as we know it is just no longer useful. Listen now. Share it with your board. Share it with your program officers. Share it with anyone who still believes philanthropy can rise to meet this moment—because that moment is now. Lured Up Podcast 380: Daily Routine Live Streamed on - 1/28/26 Publish Date - 1/30/26 This week was packed with gameplay as we saw Precious Pals get Taken Over, Shadow Raikou Raid Day and Into The Depths! These events delivered a diverse menu of gameplay styles, with Raiding, Shiny Hunting, Routes and more. This weekend brings us Dynamax Ho-Oh, which may be hit or miss with Communities and might require more coordination than usual to get Trainers together. You will however, have a relaxed pace with many hours of the day available to track down Ho-Oh. Next week looks even stronger with Carnival of Flamigo kicking off on Tuesday and stretching out over Oricorio Catch Mastery Day. This will make grinding next Saturday a fantastic time to play so block out your time now! The Road to Kalos event is just ludicrous with how much it has going on. Plenty of costumes and backgrounds will make this either a collector's dream or worst nightmare.  Wayfarer had some big updates this week with the release of their official map! Wayfinders will no longer have to use third party tools or work with outdated maps. With the forums blowing up over it, I think Wayfarer may have a winner on their hands with the Community. We also saw the expansion of Niantic's Street Corner experiment to all 50 US states and the forums are melting down about it. We hope this will make underdeveloped/populated gameboards receive some POI that don't have to follow criteria that would normally make them ineligible. Finally, we wrap up with a conversation about daily gameplay routines, and how they can bring some consistency and efficiency to your play. We discuss our morning, afternoon, and evening routines and how it impacts what we do. From inventory maintenance to gifting strategies, developing loops for your tasks can help you stay focused and on task. Trauma Bonding at a Societal LevelTrauma bonding at a societal level occurs when entire communities become emotionally attached to ongoing stress, chaos, and threat through repeated cycles of fear and temporary relief. Constant exposure to crisis-driven narratives keeps the nervous system in a heightened state of activation, where cortisol remains elevated and the brain's threat centers dominate decision-making. In this state, people often bond not to peace or truth, but to the very sources of stress that intermittently offer reassurance, identity, or meaning. Over time, this creates emotional dependence on narratives, movements, or media ecosystems that feel familiar and validating—even when they are harmful.Neurologically and physiologically, societal trauma bonding erodes clarity and resilience. The prefrontal cortex becomes less effective, nuance disappears, and group identity replaces independent discernment. Communities begin to mirror trauma responses seen in individuals: rigidity, hypervigilance, emotional reactivity, and fear of separation from the group. Healing begins when individuals restore nervous system regulation, reconnect to local reality, and reclaim rhythm, coherence, and embodied presence. Calm, grounded truth—rather than outrage—becomes the antidote that slowly dissolves trauma bonds and allows cultures to recover stability and compassion. Dr. Fred Clary, founder of Functional Analysis Chiropractic Technique and lifting/life coach/ gym-chalk covered philosopher talks about Community Gaslighting!

Around the world, urban planners are seeking to deliver urban growth and increase access to city centres through the development of transit-oriented communities. These combine new publicly-backed transport infrastructure, with privately-financed residential and commercial development. It's a route to more sustainable cities, but it involves careful navigation of budgetary constraints and the needs of existing communities. Michael Matthys explains some of the challenges of delivering transit-oriented communities in Toronto. Last December, Martin University announced it would close, citing years of financial strain and declining enrollment. The closure brings to an end a legacy that began more than 50 years ago with Boniface Hardin. Hardin arrived in Indianapolis in 1965 after being assigned as associate pastor at Holy Angels Catholic Church. He entered a city marked by racial inequality, police violence, and urban displacement. It was in this context that Hardin emerged as a prominent civil rights advocate. In 1970, Hardin and Sister Jane Schilling founded the Martin Center in a house at 35th and College Avenue. That led to the founding of Martin Center College in 1977, created to serve adult learners, low-income and minority students, people with disabilities, and others historically excluded from higher education. In 1987, the school moved to a larger facility in the Brightwood neighborhood, and in 1990 the institution was renamed Martin University.  Martin reached a high point in 2001 with the opening of a new $10 million campus facility. Hardin retired as president of Martin University in 2007 after more than three decades of leadership. He died in 2012 at the age of 78.

*** We recorded this episode before ICE murdered Alex Pretti, a 37 year old ICU nurse who was attempting to help a woman up who had been pushed to the ground by ICE agents in Minneapolis on the morning of January 24, 2026. Despite the administration's attempt to cover up and justify this murder by claiming that Pretti was holding a gun (he wasn't, it was a phone), the facts are clear: ICE is murdering American citizens. And then, they are lying about it.   This is not the America we want for ourselves or for our children. We stand with Minnesota, Maine, and everywhere else that is fighting back. Part of our fight is this episode, and the resources we share in it. Please share widely. We are strongest when we stand together. NO ICE.   We leave you with the words of Alex Pretti's parents, who, in the face of the callous killing of their son, left us with who he truly is, in their statement that they released on January 24:   "We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.   I do not throw around the 'hero' term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.   Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man."   Horns honking, people chanting ICE OUT as they crowd busy intersections. Horns honking, ICE agents smashing car windows, and grabbing people from their cars. Which scenario sounds like the America you know?  Which one, more importantly, sounds like the America you want to be fighting for? Regardless of what you answered, this episode is a must-listen. We unpack the history of ICE (it's not a long one, despite what might be suggested by our current administration), why ICE acting as the secret police for the administration is not only incredibly illegal today but also reminds us of another secret police which rhymes with Schmestapo, and what we can all DO about ICE in our communities, especially when it seems like we have no agency.  What to listen for: ICE's history in America is fairly new – it was formed after the attacks on 9/11/2001. The purpose and guideposts around ICE have shifted with administrations. Most recently? This federalized force of vigilantes, loosely recruited with even looser standards, has been weaponized and deputized to create mass terror, egged on by a fascist leader with an outsized ego and zero morality. The historic precedent:  Brownshirts → SA. Like the Proud Boys but 1930s style, and this is where we're at now. But Himmler wanted educated men to be this force, which developed into the SS. Let's not find out what happens in America if and when we get to the SS stage. What can you do? We have tons of ideas for using your body, wallet, writing/petitioning power, and joy. Listen in for our suggestions. #208: A winter storm might make us think about groceries, generators, and the warmth we take for granted—but the real shock lands when a life is taken on camera. We move from icy roads in the South to a deadly confrontation in Minnesota, where VA nurse Alex Peretti was shot while filming a protest. No music, no fluff, just a careful walk through what's visible on multiple videos, what the law allows, and what ethics demand when power meets the public. We lay out the confirmed facts: legal concealed carry in a permit-friendly state, a licensed nurse who never drew his weapon, and a rapid escalation that ends with multiple shots fired into someone turned away with a phone in his hand. From there, we bring frontline experience into the conversation—hospital de-escalation training, the cues professionals are taught to read, and the higher standard we expect from officers trained to control risk without lethal force. The goal isn't to inflame; it's to clarify. When headlines muddy the picture with “wait for the facts,” we ask which facts actually matter and which talking points are designed to distract. This story doesn't live in a vacuum. Communities of color have warned about similar encounters for years, often without the visibility that video brings. We connect the dots between policy and character, between what's legal and what's right, and between public outrage and the slow work of accountability. If you care about use of force, protest rights, ICE operations, VA standards, and what de-escalation should look like in practice, you'll find a grounded, human-centered breakdown here.If the momentum after viral tragedies keeps fading, nothing changes. When I first toured the Javits Center rooftop farm back in October 2022, I walked past rows of lettuce, herbs, and apple trees on top of a convention center, tasted apples the chef had just brought down from the orchard, and went home with honey from the hives above the show floor. That visit completely changed how I think about what event food can do. Now I'll be talking with Yashi Dadhich, Director of Energy & Sustainability at the Javits Center, about how a convention center best known for massive trade shows is also growing tens of thousands of pounds of produce on its roof—using it first to feed attendees and staff—and then donating the surplus to help nourish their neighbors. From a one-acre rooftop farm and greenhouse to partnerships with organizations like Rethink Food and local pantries, Javits has built a food donation program that connects: Farm-to-table menus for events Rescued prepared food and ingredients after events Community impact, feeding New Yorkers facing food insecurity Sustainability goals, including waste reduction and energy savings For those of us planning meetings and events, this is a powerful blueprint for turning "leftovers" into impact—without sacrificing service, safety, or the bottom line. We'll talk about: How their rooftop farm and kitchens are designed to reduce waste and maximize donation What it takes to build strong food-rescue partnerships How planners can plug into donation systems when they book a venue like Javits Why feeding your community should be part of your event success metrics If you've ever looked at what's left on the buffet and thought, there has to be a better way, you'll want to join this conversation with Yashi and bring your questions about working with venues on food donation and rescue. What do you want to know about donating event food or partnering with venues on food rescue?

Overview: We discuss what culturally responsive care really means for underserved communities and how technology, especially AI, can create more equitable solutions in healthcare. We reflect on the challenge of finding tools that expand care teams and deepen patient trust without losing the essential personal touch of community health centers. We talk candidly about the intersection of technology, ROI, and ethics—asking what true success looks like when serving vulnerable populations. Co-design and collaboration with communities are at the heart of our conversation, as we discuss ways tech can scale privilege and raise the quality of care, like improving language access through AI-driven translation services. We also confront the limits of technology and the need for policy change, sharing practical examples from our work and finding hope in partnerships that lead to meaningful innovation Three Takeaways: The Power of Co-Design in Tech SolutionsWe repeatedly highlight that truly useful technology in healthcare—especially for marginalized communities—must be co-designed with input from those very communities. Instead of developing products in isolation and then trying to “retrofit” trust or usability, starting collaborative design from the beginning is critical to both trust and effectiveness. ROI Isn't Just Financial—It's Community HealthInstead of boiling everything down to monetary return, Luis Padilla reframes ROI as the improvement in health, trust, and culturally appropriate care for disenfranchised patients. For community health centers, “margin” is reinvested in service, not profit—a strong counter-narrative to typical business language in healthcare tech. Language Access Technology Has Equity Potential The episode brings forward concrete examples—like live multilingual translation at Asian Health Services—showing how technology (AI-powered live voice translation, multiple language EMR interpretation) can “raise the floor” for accessibility. These innovations move beyond privilege and begin to level the playing field for communities historically left behind. Today's episode is not the one I planned to release. I was supposed to share an interview I was excited about, but it didn't feel right to move forward after the tragic killings by ICE agents in Minnesota. Families are grieving. Communities are scared. And pretending everything is normal felt like the wrong move.In this solo emergency episode, I speak honestly about not having the right words, but choosing to not stay silent. The Healthy Project was created to shine a light on the systems that harm people, and what happened in Minnesota is not just a headline. It is state violence. It is the predictable result of a system built on fear and enforcement. This episode is about sitting with discomfort, naming what's happening, and turning awareness into action. I share why immigration enforcement has always been violent, why no human being deserves to die because of documentation status, and what you can do right now to support impacted communities. We talk about:The ICE killings in Minnesota and why this matters to all of usHow silence protects harmful systemsThe human cost behind immigration enforcementWays you can take action through education, mutual aid, and community supportThis is a heavy episode. But it's a necessary one. You don't need perfect words to show up. You just need to refuse to look away. ★ Support this podcast ★

In 2001, in the nascent days of the internet, activists came together to wrestle with a growing challenge, the impacts of an increasingly corporatized media ecosystem on communities of color. They set out to intervene in media and tech practices that harm people of color and reimagined how these sectors could better represent the aspirations of local communities. This led to the founding, in 2009, of Media Justice, an organizing, education and field building organization that has generated significant wins, from passage of the nation's first facial recognition ban to another first, limiting the rates that families of incarcerated people could be charged for phone calls. As Steven Renderos, my exceptional guest on this episode of Power Station explains, where 25 years ago the villains dominating the field were Clear Channel and Comcast, they are now the tech oligarchy, billionaires whose influence is weakening our democracy and extracting local resources. But the public, in these harrowing times, is waking up and taking action. First-time protesters are showing up at public hearings to speak out against the economic and environmental harms of data centers. And Media Justice is powering their activism, developing leaders and connecting them across our nation.

Josh shares why many teams produce technically impressive metrics that fail to influence leadership, and how Ops professionals can reframe data in a way that connects directly to revenue, profitability, and how the business truly makes money. You will hear Josh break down which metrics executives care about most, including financial measures like LTV and CAC, how those metrics change as companies mature, and why explainability often matters more than precision. The group also discusses how Ops teams can decide when data is “good enough” to act on, how to prepare for executive conversations beyond pulling numbers, and the common mistakes teams make when data is presented without context. This episode is especially relevant for Marketing Ops, RevOps, and BizOps professionals who want to move from being seen as report builders to trusted business advisors.Topics covered include: • The gap between reporting and decision-making • Metrics that matter most to executives • Financial literacy for Ops leaders • Explainability versus complexity in analytics • Communicating data in a way that drives actionMake sure to watch this episode if you want to better align your reporting with business outcomes and elevate the impact of your Ops work.Episode Brought to You By MO Pros The #1 Community for Marketing Operations Professionals MarketingOps.com is curating the GTM Ops Track at Demand & Expand (May 19-20, San Francisco) - the premier B2B marketing event featuring 600+ practitioners sharing real solutions to real problems. Welcome back to this special season of The Publisher Podcast, bringing you the best sessions from the Definitive AI Forum for Media, Information and Events, which we held with Flashes & Flames in London at the end of last year. This week features Toby Wiseman, MF for  Content at Hearst UK,  speaking with Flashes & Flames' Colin Morrison, about what AI means to the magazine publisher. Toby talked about Hearst's efforts to get staff on the same page with AI, making them more comfortable with the technology through an AI amnesty, regular training sessions and an AI policy. He said AI should be invisible and was clear that there was no place for publishing AI-generated content. He did however see a powerful role for AI in optimising content discovery and audience engagement, restoring the link between content and communities. 2026 is going to be a significant year for the Soma family and our disciple-making, church-planting mission. On February 1st, we'll transition to 2 Sunday Gatherings. By early Spring, we'll launch 3-5 new Communities. Gospel Basics will move to Wednesday evenings, creating a mid-week opportunity for equipping. Over the course of the year, we'll start new Communities in Cheney in anticipation of growing a new Soma congregation. And by the end of the year, Lord willing, we'll have moved into our own permanent facilities. All of this - and so much more - is a gift of God's grace, a unique moment for us to steward, and an opportunity to double-down on our core convictions of Gospel, Community, and Mission. To that end, we're studying Jesus' Spirit-empowered ministry in Luke 4, and inviting you to a month of prayerful dependence, sacrificial service, and joyful generosity. More info here.

The world feels loud, chaotic, and overwhelming—and a lot of people are waiting for something big to change before they feel better. In this episode of The Fitness League, we break down why that approach keeps us stuck, and why real change almost always starts with the smallest possible decisions. We unpack how tiny, repeatable choices shape behavior, identity, and eventually the culture inside your home and community. From decision fatigue and environment design to self-talk and leadership by example, this episode reframes change as something practical, controllable, and deeply impactful—even when the bigger picture feels out of reach. Rather than chasing motivation or grand gestures, we explore how designing your environment, simplifying decisions, and aligning daily actions with who you want to be can create a ripple effect far beyond just your own health. This conversation is about reclaiming agency, protecting your energy, and understanding how bettering yourself is one of the most meaningful ways to better the world around you. If you've felt helpless watching the state of the world—or frustrated that nothing seems to be working—this episode will give you a grounded, empowering place to start.
