In this week's BikeRadar news podcast, Jack Luke is once again joined by Simon von Bromley to discuss the latest hot stories in bike tech.   We kick things off with a Shimano leak that suggests the Japanese brand may be working on a set of power meter pedals for its next generation road groupsets.   Next, we move on to the new Specialized Aethos 2, which has been updated to include full integrated cable routing, wider tyre clearance and a less aggressive geometry. It's also as light and expensive as ever, of course.   We also discuss Tadej Pogačar's tricked-out Colnago Y1Rs from the Rwanda world championships, and speculate why the Slovenian rider switched to Continental's new Archetype tyres for this race.   Finally, instead of ending with a ‘rant of the week', Simon and Jack give a rare shoutout to the UCI for its recently announced cost cap for track cycling bikes and equipment, which will be introduced ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics Games in 2028. Send us a textIn this powerful continuation of the Shadow Into Light series, host Andrea Atherton invites listeners into the heart of love's most hidden terrain — the shadow parts we carry into relationships. Building on the foundation of Episode One, Andrea weaves together the wisdom of Carl Jung's shadow and Dr. Richard Schwartz's Internal Family Systems model to illuminate how these disowned parts of ourselves show up in partnership. Far from being simply “bad behaviors,” these parts are protective, reactive, and deeply human, often surfacing as jealousy, criticism, withdrawal, or defensiveness.Through relatable examples and heartfelt reflections, Andrea reveals how these shadow parts collide in what she calls the shadow dance — the repeating cycles of conflict and projection that so many couples find themselves locked into. Listeners will discover how unresolved wounds from the past can magnify small moments into painful ruptures, and why arguments with a partner often feel more intense than the situation at hand. With compassion and clarity, Andrea shows that these patterns aren't signs of failure, but opportunities for self-discovery and growth.Ultimately, this episode is an invitation to see love not only as a mirror of our light, but also as a container for healing our shadows. Andrea guides listeners toward gentle practices for noticing when a “part” is activated and reminds us that every conflict is an opening to bring compassion where there was once blame. Episode 221 offers hope that by learning to meet our shadows with tenderness, we can shift from disconnection to deeper intimacy, transforming the shadow dance into a path of conscious love.30-minute Consultation with Andrea https://www.andreaatherton.com/booking-calendarAndrea Atherton Websitehttps://www.andreaatherton.com/Love Anarchy Websitehttps://www.andreaatherton.com/podcasthttps://loveanarchypodcast.buzzsprout.comLove Anarchy Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/loveanarchypodcast/Andrea Atherton Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/andreaatherton-17/

The apocalypse isn't just an ancient myth, but an archetype, a pattern that still shapes our world.  The same emotional and psychological forces that drove medieval peasants to embark on doomed crusades or to whip themselves in public, are the very forces driving political movements today. The archetypal forces that drove these millenarian movements  are very much present in the politics of the Western world at this moment.

Summary Judgment: The ins, outs, and in-betweens of Personal Injury Law

In the final segment of our conversation with Trevor Scott, Josh and Aaron dive into the archetypes people often associate with lawyers—and explore just how much truth there is behind those perceptions. FVF Law is a well-credentialed, overwhelmingly 5-star reviewed personal injury law firm in Austin, TX. FVF strives to be the educational resource for the injured, available to guide those with questions about what comes next. It is FVF's mission to ensure clients are prioritized and informed throughout the injury claim process, and to secure the best possible outcome. Josh Fogelman and Aaron Von Flatern founded FVF Law to offer a different kind of injury law firm, and a dignified alternative in the marketplace. They hope to show injured Texans that consulting a lawyer after an injury is a natural, and responsible thing to do.

The archetype of the Wanderer appears as a figure of profound loneliness, who drifts through life without a fixed home or direction, restless in the search for purpose and belonging. He has far-sickness, a deep longing for distant places and the hope of eventually finding a place on earth where he truly feels at home. The Wanderer longs for home, yet feels at home nowhere, dwelling in a liminal space between past and present, the familiar and the unknown, echoing what Lovecraft wrote: “I know always that I am an outsider; a stranger in this century and among those who are still men.”If there is one key characteristic of the Wanderer, it is restlessness, which appears as a constant need to chase the next thing, whether it be in the outer world. Once something is achieved, the Wanderer is no longer satisfied, and seeks something else, ad infinitum. This insatiable desire is the cause of much of our suffering. One could say that the Wanderer cannot commit to anything, but he is certainly committed to wandering. After a long period of aimless wandering, one may finally commit to the inner journey, and the archetype of the Seeker becomes constellated, beginning the search for one's soul. The focus of life shifts from external achievements and aimless wandering to the pursuit of self-realisation and theosis (union with God).

Send us a textIn this first episode of the Shadow Into Light series, host Andrea Atherton invites you into the world of shadow work and parts healing. Drawing on Carl Jung's timeless teachings and the transformative model of Internal Family Systems (IFS) developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, Andrea unpacks what it truly means to explore the hidden aspects of ourselves. These are the parts we often exile — the jealousy, shame, anger, or fear — yet they hold the keys to our wholeness and deeper connection. We'll explore how Jung described the shadow as the unconscious repository of everything we suppress, and how IFS offers us a compassionate roadmap for meeting those parts with curiosity and care. Rather than battling or suppressing them, we learn to listen — to understand the role each part plays in protecting us and how they long to be welcomed home. By shifting our relationship with these inner dynamics, we open the door to profound healing and authenticity. This episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and begin noticing the parts of yourself that arise in your daily life and relationships. Andrea guides you with reflection prompts and practical insights to help you take the first step into this journey. Because when we begin to embrace our shadows, we step closer to the truth of who we are — and create the foundation for love that is whole, honest, and deeply alive.30-minute Consultation with Andrea https://www.andreaatherton.com/booking-calendarAndrea Atherton Websitehttps://www.andreaatherton.com/Love Anarchy Websitehttps://www.andreaatherton.com/podcasthttps://loveanarchypodcast.buzzsprout.comLove Anarchy Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/loveanarchypodcast/Andrea Atherton Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/andreaatherton-17/

107: How to Confront Your Dark Side (Step-by-Step Guide) - Carl Jung's Shadow Work

How to Confront Your Dark Side (Step-by-Step Guide) -  Carl Jung's Shadow Work Carl Jung's psychology is called analytical psychology and his philosophy is dubbed as “Jungian philosophy”. Jung's most famous theory is ‘the individuation process.'  Carl Jung believed that to truly understand ourselves, we need to look at how the mind is built — what he called the psyche. At the top is the conscious mind — your everyday thoughts, feelings, and choices. Just below that is your personal unconscious  and deeper still is something Jung called the collective unconscious. This isn't shaped by your personal life, but by the shared history of all human beings. Inside it live universal patterns called archetypes. Jung also talked about the persona — the mask we wear to fit into the world. It's how we act in public, at work, or around people we want to impress. But behind that mask is something more hidden — something we often avoid. He called this the shadow, the dark parts of ourselves we were told not to show. This could be anger, fear, jealousy, or even qualities like ambition or desire. Many of these parts got pushed down when we were young, not because they were bad, but because the world told us they weren't acceptable. But hiding them doesn't make them disappear. They still live inside us — and if we don't face them, they can shape our lives from the background. Jung believed that to grow as a person, we have to turn and face this shadow. We have to understand it, accept it, and slowly bring it into the light. That's what he called shadow work.  It's about becoming whole. At the center of all this is what Jung called the Self — the full picture of who you are, both conscious and unconscious. And the journey to becoming your true self, he called individuation. In this video, we'll take you through a step by step approach to shadow work so that you can confront your dark side. Not to fix yourself — but to truly know yourself. So here are the step by step approach to shadow work so that you can confront your dark side, according to the philosophy of Carl Jung. Step 1- Identify Your Shadow Step 2 - Accept Your dark side Without Judgement Step 3 - Trace the Origin Step 4 -  Have a Dialogue With your Shadow Step 5 -  Integrate Your Shadow I hope you enjoyed listening to this podcast and hope that this wisdom on step by step approach to shadow work so that you can confront your dark side, form the wisdom of Carl Jung will be helpful to your life. Carl Jung, together with Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, is one of the 3 founders of psychoanalysis which is a set of psychological theories and methods aiming to release repressed emotions and experiences - in other words, to make the unconscious conscious. Jung was born in Switzerland in 1875 and died in 1961, leaving behind great works in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology and religious studies. Jung had Freud as a mentor for a good part of his career but later he departed from him. This division was painful for Jung and it led him to found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis. If classical psychoanalysis focuses on the patient's past, as early experiences are very important in personality development, analytical psychology primarily focuses on the present, on mythology, folklore, and cultural experiences, to try to understand human consciousness. One of the most important ideas of analytical psychology which Jung founded is the process of individuation, which is the process of finding the self - something Jung considered an important task in human development. While he did not formulate a systematic philosophy, he is nonetheless considered a sophisticated philosopher - his school of thought dubbed “Jungian philosophy”. Its concepts can apply to many topics covered in the humanities and the social sciences. A good part of his work was published after his death and indeed there are still some articles written by him that to this day have yet to be published. Some of his most important books are: “Psychology of the Unconscious”, “Man and His Symbols”, “The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious”, “Modern Man In Search of a Soul”, “The Psychology of the Transference”, “Memories, Dreams, Thoughts”, and “The Relations Between the Ego and the Unconscious”. Besides being a great writer and a researcher, he was also an artist, a craftsman and even a builder. His contribution is enormous and there is a great deal we can learn from his works.

Icons represent ideas that are bigger than themselves.Myths are stories that represent ideas that are bigger than themselves.Archetypes are symbols of recognizable patterns of behavior.Letters of the alphabet are symbols (graphemes) that represents sounds (phonemes,) just as notes on a sheet of music are symbols that represent sounds.A role model is a personal icon, an archetype that you have chosen to emulate. The human brain loves symbols and patterns. This is why we embrace icons, myths, and archetypes. When we recognize a pattern that has been stored in our subconscious, we call it intuition. When we hear a pattern that has been repeated too many times, we call it a predictable cliché.Icons, myths, and archetypes evolve with each new generation.I was born in the 12th year of the 18-year Baby Boom generation that began exactly 9 months and 10 minutes after the end of World War II.Marilyn Monroe was the iconic sex symbol. The Statue of Liberty, Yankee Stadium, Yellowstone, and Woodstock were America's iconic places. Rolls Royce, Cadillac, Corvette, Camaro and Mustang were iconic cars. Tetris, Pong, and Pac-Man were iconic video games. The mythic stories of Baby Boomers were mostly about combat. Sometimes we fought the Indians of the Old West. Sometimes we fought the Germans, or the Japanese. We fought the Establishment. We fought for justice. Or we fought just to stay alive. And we always won.Our definitive male archetype in these mythic stories was rugged, brave, independent, and honorable. John Wayne, Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery.Baby Boomer female archetypes were smart, pretty, and strong; Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Julie Andrews, Sophia Loren.Lots of movies ended with a wedding. These societal forces shaped the birth cohort known as the Baby Boomers.Gen-X was shaped by an entirely different set of icons, myths, and archetypes.Millennials had icons, myths, and archetypes that were all their own, as well. The Gen-Z cohort believes it is their responsibility to straighten out everything that the Boomers and X-ers screwed up.Gen-Alpha is determined to make their own decisions and decide for themselves what they want to do. They will be the vanguard of the next “Me” generation.Fortunately, there are elemental beliefs that bind us all together. It is upon those beliefs that successful customer-bonding ad campaigns are built. Openly name these beliefs and they lose their magic. If you claim to possess them, no one will believe you.EXAMPLES: Never claim to be honest. Just say something that only an honest person would say. Never claim to be a perfectionist. Just do something that only a perfectionist would do. Don't tell people that you are an author or a podcaster. Just give them a copy of your book. Invite them to be on your podcast. If you would win the hearts and minds of tomorrow's customers, this is what you must do:Imagine that you are standing face-to-face with three perfect customers and they are each looking into your eyes. The first one says, “Talk is cheap. Don't tell me what you believe. Show me.”The second customer says, “Tell me a true story that lets me know who you really are, including the price that you pay for being you.”Customer three says, “If you betray me after I have given you my trust, I will burn you down so hot that grass won't grow for 100 years.”Now you understand cancel culture. Frustration created it, and social media fuels it.People are looking for someone who really is...

If money is the silent air that keeps intimacy alive, then the epidemic of divorce and fractured families is not a cultural pathology—it is romantic asphyxiation engineered by a system that never wanted Black lungs to expand fully in the first place.

Soul sovereignty lies at the heart of Virgo energy—a concept far more nuanced than the perfectionism and organization typically associated with this earth sign. Dr. BethAnne Kapansky-Wright takes us beyond these surface-level traits to explore how Virgo invites us to own our choices, trust our intuition, and walk our unique path with both independence and wisdom.Diving into the etymology of "Virgo," we discover that the original virgin archetype wasn't about sexual chastity but represented self-sufficient individuals who weren't subject to others—sovereign beings owning their power and making independent choices. This revelation illuminates Virgo's true essence: self-determination balanced with the wisdom to seek support when needed.Through the metaphor of marathon running, Dr. BethAnne shares personal insights from her recent Kauai Marathon experience. Each step represents a decision to keep moving forward, adapting strategy as conditions change. While we gratefully accept aid along the course, ultimately, we must propel ourselves forward—no one else can run our race for us. Similarly, in life, we receive guidance and support from others, but the journey of self-discovery remains uniquely our own.The episode culminates with Dr. Bethann's powerful "Manifesto of Belief," written during her own transformative period of uncertainty. This heartfelt letter reminds us to trust ourselves "in the debris, in the breaking, in your grief," embracing all aspects of our humanity as essential to our becoming. She encourages listeners to write their own manifesto this Virgo season—a grounding activity that helps anchor us to our current self-knowledge and determine our next soulful steps.Ready to harness Virgo energy in your life? The Primal Happiness Show
How to marry the Artist and Entrepreneur within: A way out of the trap - Tad Hargrave

This week's show is with Tad Hargrave. Tad is a hippy who developed a knack for marketing (and then learned how to be a hippy again). Since 2001, he's been weaving together strands of ethical marketing, Waldorf School education, a history in the performing arts, local culture work, anti-globalization activism, an interest in his ancestral, traditional cultures, community building and supporting local economies into this work of helping people create profitable businesses that are ethically grown while restoring the beauty of the marketplace. Tad did improv comedy semi-professionally for 25 years, co-ran Edmonton's progressive community building network TheLocalGood.ca, founded streetcarshows.com and the Jams program of yesworld.org. He speaks Scottish Gaelic and helped to launch and co-facilitate the Nova Scotia Gaels Jam. He is from Edmonton, Alberta (traditionally known, in the language of the Cree, as Amiskwaciy [Beaver Hill] and later Amiskwaciwaskihegan [Beaver Hill House]) and currently lives in Duncan, BC (Quw'utsun territory). In this episode, Lian and Tad explore the hidden terrain where creativity and commerce collide… the trap many artists, healers, and visionaries fall into without even realising. Together, they map the archetypal dynamics between the artist and the entrepreneur, illuminating the often-unseen pattern that keeps soulful work from fully flourishing in the world. Tad shares his potent visual model of collapsing and posturing — revealing how both are twin expressions of the same wound, and why neither offers true freedom. Lian reflects on the parallels with shadow work, the conflation of collapsing with nobility, and the ache many feel when faced with the false binary of authenticity versus success. They also touch on the ancient roots of these archetypes, and the wounding of both beauty and provision in our modern age. At the heart of this conversation is a deeper possibility: a marriage of the artist and entrepreneur, not rooted in proving or hiding, but in composure… wholeness… a quiet trust in one's being. It's a profound remembering of how businesses — like children — are born from the union of devotion and provision, creativity and care. A call to beauty as the ground beneath it all. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll learn from this episode: How the ‘trap' reveals itself through posturing and collapsing — and why both are driven by the same underlying fear Why the true work is not balancing opposites, but moving beyond the binary into composure, where nothing needs to be proved or hidden How the artist and entrepreneur are ancient archetypes… and how their marriage creates the conditions for beautiful, ethical, and effective work in the world Resources and stuff spoken about: The trap - image of the quadrant, and quadrant with thrid column Visit Tad's Website Tad's Ethical Marketing Starter Kit https://majikmedia.com/series/ https://majikmedia.com/signature-workshop/ https://marketingforhippies.com/product/the-trap-webinar-recordings/ Find out more about Membership for Marketing for Hippies Join Tad on Instagram & YouTube See Tad's Upcoming Events Join UNIO, the Academy of Sacred Union. KAIROS | Rick Tarnas on Jung's Kairos, Archetypes, and the Nature of Soul-Making

In this inaugural episode of The Cosmic Codex, I sit with philosopher and cultural historian Richard Tarnas to explore the mysteries of time, the power of archetypes, and the hidden architecture of reality. We begin with the concept of Kairos, the charged and transformative moment in time, contrasted with Kronos, the measured sequence of historical duration. Drawing on Jung and Greek myth, Rick illuminates how these two modes of temporality shape both individual lives and collective history, and why our present era can be understood as a Kairos of metamorphosis and crisis. Our discussion then turns to the archetypal dimension and its role in evolution. Rick shares insights from archetypal astrology and depth psychology, reflecting on the integration of opposites, the alchemical process of soul-making, and the necessity of suffering for transformation. We speak of Keats's phrase the “veil of soul-making” and Hillman's image of the acorn and the oak, considering how temporal life forges identity and destiny through revision, humility, and creative experiment. We also address the collective crisis of our age as an initiatory passage of death and rebirth, a planetary ordeal calling for deeper community, spiritual trust, and a renewed relationship to nature and cosmos. Beauty emerges as a central theme, not as surface ornament but as an archetypal force that calls the soul toward transformation and inspires creativity, truth, and meaning.Books by Richard Tarnas:The Passion of the Western MindCosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World ViewPrometheus the Awakener: An Essay on the Archetypal Meaning of the Planet UranusBooks & Authors Mentioned:C.G.
