One of The Deputies Was Murdered, It's Still Open and Unsolved. Maybe You Can Help? Nearly two decades have passed, but the haunting memory of one tragic night still lingers deeply within California's law enforcement community. One of the deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office was murdered in the line of duty, and to this day, the case remains unsolved. The Sheriff's Department, along with dedicated detectives and the broader public safety network, continue to seek justice for Deputy Jeffrey Mitchell, whose life was taken far too soon. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium and most all social media platforms “It's not just a case. It's a human life. A husband, a father, a son. And it's still open,” said Dr. Michael Goold, a retired Chief of Police and advocate for emotional resilience in public safety. “We owe it to him and his family to keep pressing forward.” The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on our website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms A Tragic Night in Sacramento County On the early morning of Friday, October 27, 2006, Deputy Mitchell was patrolling a rural area. Around 3:30 a.m., he radioed dispatch to report he was stopping a white Chevrolet van. Minutes later, when dispatch tried to check back, there was silence. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Newsbreak and Blogspot. By the time responding units arrived at the scene, they found Deputy Mitchell shot in the head, with his own service weapon. Evidence showed he fought desperately for his life before the fatal blow. The Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies across California launched an immediate and expansive search involving hundreds of officers, but the person responsible has never been found. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms One of The Deputies Was Murdered, It's Still Open and Unsolved. Maybe You Can Help? “There was always a question, was it murder or suicide? But looking at the evidence, the struggle, the scene, it's clear this was a violent homicide,” said Dr. Goold, who has discussed the case in the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast available for free on their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms. Remembering Deputy Mitchell Deputy Jeffrey Mitchell had served with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department for nine years. He left behind a devoted wife and a six-year-old son. His murder not only shook his department but also left a permanent scar on the community he swore to protect. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. “Every year, every day, we still think about Jeff,” one colleague posted on Facebook. Tributes continue to pour in on platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter), keeping his memory alive and reminding the public that justice has yet to be served. The Emotional Toll and the Role of Intelligence Dr. Goold, who spent 23 years in law enforcement, now works to improve resilience and mental health among first responders. He often speaks about Emotional Intelligence (EI), a critical skill that enhances performance and decision-making under stress. Check out the show on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms “High emotional intelligence is not just helpful, it's essential,” he explains. “When a deputy is alone on a dark road in a high-stakes situation, their ability to regulate emotion and think clearly can mean the difference between life and death.” EI encompasses five key components: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. In high-stress roles like policing, firefighting, or emergency response, being able to read the emotions of others and manage your own is a superpower. “EI helps officers understand what's really happening in emotionally charged scenarios,” Dr. Goold said. “It allows for better decision-making, fosters teamwork, and builds public trust, which is essential, especially when asking for help on cases like Deputy Mitchell's.” For more insights, the free episode of the “Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast”, is available on their website for free in addition to Apple Podcasts and Spotify, as well as through other podcast platforms. The Podcast Conversation, One of The Deputies Was Murdered, It's Still Open and Unsolved. Maybe You Can Help? In his ongoing efforts to bring awareness to this unresolved case, Dr. Goold continues to speak about Deputy Mitchell's story on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast series free on their website and streaming across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms. These conversations not only highlight the case but explore the broader impacts of trauma, stress, and the psychological demands placed on public safety personnel. Listeners from all backgrounds, including those in law enforcement and the general public are encouraged to tune in and share the free podcast via Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or X. Justice Still Demanded Despite the years, the mission remains the same: Find the person responsible. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has never stopped investigating. Detectives still pursue leads and are urging anyone with information to come forward. “We can't close this chapter without accountability,” said one deputy currently assigned to cold cases. “This wasn't just one of the deputies he was one of our best. We won't stop.” One of The Deputies Was Murdered, It's Still Open and Unsolved. Maybe You Can Help? As Dr. Goold puts it: “It's about justice. It's about closure. But more than that, it's about never forgetting the human cost of service.” To learn more about Deputy Mitchell's story and the ongoing investigation, follow the conversation on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast social media and listen to the interview with Dr. Goold's as a free podcast on their website, Apple podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. In this episode of The extra-Ordinary Leader, I'm joined by the incredible Cathy O'Dowd – the first woman to climb Mount Everest from both the north and south sides. But this conversation isn't just about physical mountains; it's about the emotional and professional peaks we all face.Cathy's story is one of grit, humility and mindset, and I couldn't have been more inspired by the way she talks about doing extra-Ordinary things by simply taking the next right step. Whether it's writing a book, leading a business, or learning to kitesurf at 42 (yes, I really did that), this conversation is a reminder that success is not about fairy dust – it's about steady, consistent, powerful choices. We spoke about what happens when life feels like a cul-de-sac, when perfectionism gets in the way of progress, and how sometimes saying yes to uncomfortable opportunities is the very thing that takes you to the next level. Cathy shares how she navigated being parachuted onto the first South African Everest team – as the only woman – and how she's learned to let go of the “token” label and find confidence through action. We also dove into the power of physical challenge – why sports like climbing or kitesurfing can be an antidote to rumination, stress, and even imposter syndrome. Cathy had so much wisdom to share about how we lead ourselves and others, how we perform under pressure, and why empathy isn't a gift – it's a tool. This one will stick with me for a long time, and I hope it stays with you too.Inside this episode:What extra-Ordinary leadership really meansWhy we need to let go of perfectionismHow to reframe tokenism and self-doubtThe difference between stress responses – and how to manage themWhy physical adventure can transform your mindsetHow to use empathy as a tool – especially in high-stakes leadershipThe 'STOP' technique Cathy uses in moments of pressureThe surprising link between coffee, presence, and performanceMentions & Links:Learn more about Cathy: https://www.cathyodowd.comBook Cathy to speak: https://www.cathyodowd.com/keynote-speaking/My book The extra-Ordinary Leader: https://www.dollywaddell.com/store/p/the-extra-ordinary-leader

Stephen Jay Schwartz joins Marco to discuss the art of crafting stories that resonate across mediums.Show Notes:Storytelling is more than words on a page—it's rhythm, structure, and emotion. In this episode of Audio Signals, Marco Ciappelli welcomes back Stephen Jay Schwartz, a novelist, screenwriter, and former director of development in Hollywood. Their conversation explores the differences between writing novels and screenplays, the challenge of adapting stories across mediums, and the musicality of language in writing. What happens when a book becomes a movie? Many argue the book is always better, but is that really the case? Schwartz, having worked closely with directors and screenwriters, explains how the transition from text to film is often a process of distillation—finding the essence of a story and reshaping it to fit a new format. He shares insights from his experience in Hollywood, where screenplays often change hands and visions evolve. Does this creative transformation enhance the original work, or does it strip away its soul? The discussion then shifts to a more fundamental aspect of storytelling: rhythm. Drawing from his musical background, Schwartz describes how writing, much like composing music, involves an inherent cadence. Sentences have beats, paragraphs flow with momentum, and dialogue needs a natural tempo. Whether consciously or not, every good writer crafts their prose with a certain musicality that enhances readability and engagement.Marco and Stephen also touch on the way different minds visualize stories. Not everyone ‘sees' scenes play out in their head while reading—some need visual prompts, while others experience narrative through an auditory lens. How does this affect the way we consume stories? With attention spans shrinking, are we losing the patience for immersive storytelling in books, gravitating instead toward visually driven media? Before wrapping up, they pose a philosophical question: When is a story truly finished? Da Vinci reportedly never considered the Mona Lisa complete, and writers often feel similarly about their work. Does a story ever really end, or does it just reach a stopping point? For anyone fascinated by the intersection of storytelling, film, and music, this episode offers thought-provoking insights. In this episode of The Sales Gravy Podcast, take a look back at the best insights from the year. These moments aren't just memorable, they're actionable advice that sales professionals can take into 2025 to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape. Key Takeaways: This year reinforced a crucial truth: the fundamentals of sales never go out of style, but adapting to the environment around you is key. Buyers are sharper, busier, and more discerning, which means the best salespeople need to work smarter and harder to stay ahead. Here's what stood out from our conversations this year: – Objections Are Opportunities: Objections aren't something to avoid, they're invitations to build trust. When a buyer pushes back, it's a sign they're engaged. Instead of sidestepping concerns, lean into them. Acknowledge the issue, ask thoughtful questions, and use the conversation to demonstrate your understanding of their needs. – Relentless Prospecting Wins Deals: The deals you close tomorrow start with the work you do today. This year, we discussed the importance of consistent prospecting and how staying disciplined with your outreach pays off. Whether it's calls, emails, or social touches, keeping your pipeline full is the foundation of success. – Empathy Drives Connection: In a crowded marketplace, standing out often comes down to how well you connect with your prospects. Leading with empathy and emotional intelligence helps uncover the real problems you can solve. Listening, not just to respond, but to understand, creates trust and sets you apart from competitors. – Simplify the Process: A complicated sales process creates unnecessary barriers for your buyers. Instead, focus on making every step clear and straightforward. Simplify presentations, eliminate unnecessary details, and provide actionable next steps. Buyers are more likely to move forward when it feels easy to do so. – Consistency Is King: Talent might get you started, but consistency is what keeps you winning. Showing up daily, sticking to your routines, and doing the small things consistently makes a big difference over time. Success in 2025 will be about maintaining that focus, even when motivation dips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k2hJ3pyNBU Thriving Under Pressure with a SEAL's Strategy In high-stakes sales situations, maintaining composure is crucial. Drawing from his extensive military experience, retired Navy SEAL Master Chief Stephen Drum emphasizes the importance of preparation, adaptability, and mental resilience. By implementing a structured approach—commit, prepare, execute, and reflect—sales professionals can enhance their performance under pressure. This method enables individuals to stay focused, adjust to changing circumstances, and continuously improve their strategies. Physical Fitness Fuels Sales Success Josh Hulsebosch dives into how physical fitness directly impacts sales performance by enhancing energy levels, mental clarity, and resilience. Maintaining a "proud posture," standing tall with shoulders back and chest open, not only boosts confidence but also improves breathing and communication, essential for effective selling. Prioritizing regular exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate sleep equips sales professionals to handle the demands of their role, leading to increased productivity and success. It's Not About You—It's About Them The moment you realize sales isn't about you is the moment you start winning. Too many salespeople and entrepreneurs fall into the trap of making their pitch the center of the conversation, focusing on their product, their needs, or their numbers. But here's the truth: your prospects don't care about you—they care about themselves. Success comes when you shift your mindset and make everything about the customer. Carole Mahoney discusses how to ask better questions, listen deeply, and focus on their pain points, goals, and dreams. When you solve their problems and make them the hero of the ...

He also expresses his desire for a new bow and crossbow for Christmas and his preference for deer hunting over other outdoor activities. The conversation covers various aspects of hunting, such as safety tips, the differences between bucks and does, and the importance of patience. Towards the end, Samson asks his father questions about his own hunting experiences and expresses his interest in starting a YouTube channel with his father and friends to showcase their hunting adventures. The episode provides an intimate glimpse into the father-son relationship and Samson's enthusiasm for the outdoors. It highlights the importance of passing down outdoor traditions and the joy of sharing these experiences with loved ones. The conversation also demonstrates the role that technology, such as drones and YouTube, can play in fostering a younger generation's interest in hunting and the outdoors.

This summer, I'm sharing original Immigrantly content and highlighting creators who have inspired me. Recently, I shared an episode of The Happiness Lab with Dr. Laurie Santos, and today, I'm excited to bring you another gem—an episode of the Nuances podcast. If you're a regular Immigrantly listener, you might recall my interview with Sherry Lyn Lee, also known as Lazou, the host of Nuances. The episode was titled "From Tech to Tunes." Her podcast, Nuances, is an award-nominated audio space where guests from various Asian ethnic groups, careers, countries, and communities delve into the complexities of our cultural relationships and how they shape our identities. Today's episode features Lazou's conversation with Soo Jin Lee, who, despite never being explicitly told she was undocumented, always had an inherent sense of it. The licensed therapist and author also discusses how healing trauma doesn't have to adhere strictly to Western methods of health and wellness. I hope you enjoy this episode and come back for more Immigrantly content next week. Immigrantly is a trailblazing podcast that redefines the immigrant experience by diving into the nuanced and multifaceted stories of first and second-generation immigrants. Through intimate and thought-provoking conversations, we explore the intersections of culture, identity, and belonging, shedding light on the diverse journeys that shape our world. Hosted by Saadia Khan, a social entrepreneur passionate about authentic storytelling, Immigrantly breaks down stereotypes and builds bridges across communities, offering listeners a fresh perspective on what it means to navigate life between cultures.
