Most patients don't quit care because they're unwilling… they quit because nobody ever explained the real cost of waiting. In this episode, Dr. FJ Schofield breaks down one of the biggest challenges chiropractic offices face today: helping patients understand the difference between temporary pain relief and true corrective care. This conversation dives into: Why patients stop care once they "feel better" How to ethically communicate degeneration and long-term spinal damage The importance of objective findings during ROF How to differentiate your office from symptom-based chiropractic care Why stabilization takes time, even after pain is gone How to handle per-visit patients without losing your message The role of communication in patient retention and long-term results Why corrective care must be explained clearly and consistently Dr. FJ also shares practical insight on patient commitment, pricing structures, recurring care, staffing challenges, and the future of running an efficient chiropractic office! If you want stronger patient retention, better communication, and a deeper understanding of how to educate patients without fear tactics, this is a powerful conversation for your team. Pain relief matters — but is it the same as recovery? In this solo episode of Beyond The Pain, Leigh Brandon takes you behind the scenes of his new book, Beyond The Pain: A Whole-Person Approach to Understanding Pain and Participating in Recovery. After nearly three decades of working with people in persistent pain, Leigh shares why so many people experience temporary relief, only for their pain to return days, weeks, or months later. He explores why pain is often misunderstood when it is reduced to a body part, scan finding, diagnosis, posture issue, or single treatment approach.Through the story of Amelia, a client with recurring neck and shoulder pain, cervical spinal stenosis, fatigue, digestive issues, bloating and headaches, Leigh explains how structural, metabolic, lifestyle, emotional and nervous system factors can all interact to influence pain and recovery. This episode is not about blaming people for their pain. It is about helping people understand that they may have more influence over their recovery than they have been led to believe. In this episode, Leigh discusses:Why pain relief is not always the same as recoveryWhy persistent pain often returns after treatmentHow a diagnosis can be useful — but also limitingWhy pain should not always be viewed as a simple damage signalHow digestion, stress, inflammation, fatigue and movement patterns can all influence painWhy recovery often requires a whole-person frameworkThe difference between personal responsibility and blameWhy Beyond The Pain was writtenYou can find Leigh here:Beyond The Pain book Free Chapter:https://bodychek.co.uk/book-waitlist/Beyond The Pain 14-Day Programme:https://bodychek.co.uk/beyond-the-pain-programme/Pain-Free Plate Free Guide:https://www.bodychek.co.uk/freepainguide/Consult with Leigh:https://www.bodychek.co.uk/consultation/

Most people assume that if a drug sits on the shelf at Costco or Walgreens, it must be pretty safe. But what if some of the most common over-the-counter (OTC) medications are among the riskiest drugs in America? On this vintage episode of Vitality Radio, Jared exposes the hidden dangers behind everyday pain relievers, sleep aids, and heartburn drugs—medicines that cause thousands of deaths every year when misused or taken long-term. You'll learn how a drug becomes “OTC,” what happens when pharmaceutical companies push for that switch, and why the FDA's approval process might not tell the whole story. Jared dives into the startling realities of PPIs like Prilosec, NSAIDs like ibuprofen, and acetaminophen (Tylenol)—uncovering their risks to the liver, kidneys, bones, and brain. He also discusses how marketing convinces consumers these drugs are harmless. Finally, Jared offers a resource for safe, natural alternatives for reflux, pain, inflammation, sleep, and immune support—options that nourish the body instead of depleting it. This episode will change the way you look at “harmless” OTC drugs and help you take real control of your health.Additional Information:#341: Your Digestive Health Supplement User's Guide. The episode clarifies why it's called “dry” needling (no medication injected) and emphasizes the importance of being able to explain why it may help patients. Dry needling is presented as working locally and systemically through four main mechanisms: local muscle and tissue effects, biomechanical and inflammatory biomarker changes, peripheral and spinal pain modulation, and supraspinal/autonomic pathways. New to the show? Start Here: https://breakingupwithbingeeating.transistor.fm/start-herePick the listening path that fits what you're dealing with right now.Show Notes: In this episode, Georgie gives you a practical “urge map” to answer the question that matters in real life: what kind of urge is this? Because the same pantry moment can come from very different mechanisms—and if you use the wrong tool, it's easy to assume you “did it wrong” when you were simply solving the wrong problem. The core skill is matching the tool to the mechanism. You'll learn five common urge types and what each one actually needs: the Low-Fuel urge (under-fueling—food that counts), the Depletion urge (low capacity—less load and a soft landing), the Pain Relief urge (emotional or physical discomfort—soothing and often connection), the Scarcity/Rebellion urge (restriction and “I can't” energy—a believable yes and permission with structure), and the Autopilot urge (cue chains—pattern interruption, not self-criticism). You'll also get a quick five-question check-in to identify what's driving the urge in the moment, plus concrete examples of “permission with structure” and simple ways to break an evening cue chain.Try this week: Pick your most common urge type and run one experiment for seven days—data, not a test. (Afternoon anchor snack; a 10-minute downshift after dinner; a two-word feeling label + one moment of contact; a planned “yes” with structure; or breaking one link in your autopilot routine.)Coming next: Why urges can feel so persuasive even when the eating isn't that enjoyable—wanting vs liking.

Are you getting short-term relief from bodywork, only for the pain to return a few weeks later? In this clip, I talk through why hands-on treatments can feel amazing in the moment but may not create lasting change if you're relying on someone else to “fix” you, and why movement and self-care matter so much for long-term healing. This clip explores how fascia and global body tension can influence recurring pain, why aggressive fascia release can look (and feel) intense, and how a slower, more intentional approach may support the body's own ability to reset. We also discuss walking as a powerful daily practice, why brisk walking is linked with a lower dementia risk, and the idea of walking backwards as a way to challenge the brain and build new movement pathways. Plus, there's a fascinating look at performance work with elite athletes, including why improving a jump can start with learning how to land, and how slow joint movements (around four centimeters per second) are used to reprogram movement patterns.Jason Van Blerk in conversation with Sarah Ann Listen to the full episode here.Watch the full episode on YouTube here.***This episode is sponsored by:NOWATCH: The compassionate health trackerConnecting body and mind with unique stress recovery insights so you can live fully today15% off with code LWBW15 at https://nowatch.com/DIOME: Rest deeper. Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, an Integrative Medicine physician, researcher, and best-selling author specializing in chronic fatigue syndrome, details “adrenal fatigue,” contrasting Endocrine Society guidelines focused on overt adrenal failure with his view that the adrenals can be functionally exhausted and may be missed by standard testing and “normal ranges.” They discuss adrenal roles in stress response, blood sugar regulation, blood pressure, immunity, and symptoms suggesting low adrenal function (irritability when hungry, sugar cravings, fatigue, recurrent infections, lightheadedness/brain fog, mood shifts). Contributors include high sugar intake, chronic stress, dehydration, and salt restriction, with modern media fear/divisiveness cited as a major stressor; hypothalamic dysfunction and circadian rhythm disruption may cause “tired but wired” insomnia. They cover options such as licorice (not DGL), dietary and lifestyle changes, Adrenaplex, adaptogens (ashwagandha standards, HRG80 red ginseng study), phosphatidylserine for high nighttime cortisol, cautious low-dose hydrocortisone thresholds, and DHEA/pregnenolone considerations, plus resources at endfatigue.com.

Simply because this is where you get to share with the patient , your plan to help them to live a better life. Also, you get to lay out your expectations of them. Whether you realize it or not, this is where you tell them how to get the most out of their chiropractic care. Is it just pain relief? It is if you tell them that is THE goal. Or maybe pain relief is just the 1st step back towards health and a better life - and how many years ( or decades ) they choose to utilize chiropractic care, begins here & then comes down to what you say in this visit and future encounters.

Mikel Anderson's father was a chiropractor, stress analyst, acupuncturist, and formulator who treated high-profile clients across Europe and the United States. As a child, Mikel traveled country to country, watching customized formulas built for each individual — athletes, political figures, business leaders. No two solutions were ever the same. That early exposure shaped his worldview: health isn't generic. It's personal. By his early teens, he was already helping friends in the lab. And he never stopped. Over the next five decades, Mikel would go on to create thousands of formulas and hold the largest portfolio of patents in the world on dosing apparatus systems — designing mechanisms that activate nutrients at the moment of use rather than destroying them during mass production His work didn't just serve consumer brands. When asked to help address malaria and diarrheal disease in remote African villages — where refrigeration and stable supply chains didn't exist — he engineered a "Pharma Blast" delivery system that kept lifesaving medications stable until injection, eliminating the need for cold storage. It was a logistical solution to a humanitarian problem. NanoXtreme was born from something even closer to home. When his teenage son qualified for a professional tennis tournament and suffered an injury days before competition, Mikel did what he had watched his father do his entire life: he built a formula for the person in front of him. That moment — not a market study — became the foundation of his current work in nano-delivery pain relief. In this episode, Mikel shares how growing up in his father's lab, watching custom formulations for elite clients, inspired his belief that health must be personal, not generic, and led to a lifetime developing thousands of targeted delivery systems — from "Pharma Blast" injections that kept medicines stable in remote African villages without refrigeration to NanoXtreme, a nano-delivery pain cream originally created overnight to help his injured son compete in a professional tennis event, alongside a broader conversation on supplements, gut health, nanotechnology, and the evolving legacy he is now passing to his own son. Shurka has spent years documenting firsthand results from people around the world, making him one of the most credible independent voices on emerging light-based healing technologies. Dave Asprey and Jason Shurka break down exactly how The Light System uses full spectrum biophotonic light and encoded affirmations to create a coherent energy field that the body synchronizes with at a cellular level. They explore how this technology targets the molecular structure of water in your body, increases cellular electrical conductivity by up to 80 percent in under an hour, and creates the conditions your mitochondria need to produce more energy, accelerate recovery, and trigger deep self healing. You will learn why your body is already a light based organism, how biophotons drive biological communication at the cellular level, and why the geometry of a pyramid amplifies these effects in ways that flat screen technology cannot replicate. They also dig into the nature of consciousness, the ego as a biological operating system, and why the most powerful biohacking interventions are often the ones that work below the threshold of conscious awareness.
