Connor Southwell spoke exclusively to former Norwich City player Luke Chadwick upon the release of his new book. The midfielder endured a frustrating time while on the books at Carrow Road, suffering a bad knee injury at Portman Road on his debut in 2006, having opened the scoring. He went on to make just 18 appearances, scoring twice. He still follows the Canaries' fortunes and is excited for the upcoming season under Liam Manning. The guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Michelle O'Neil, author of the book Dog Park. Michelle also authored the memoir Daughter of the Drunk at the Bar. She has a background as a freelance writer in Washington DC, and her work has been featured in Literary Mama, Brain Child, Age of Autism, The Bark!, Cool Cleveland, and other publications. She is an RN, BSN, and teaches yoga in a large retirement community in SC. In her book review, guest-host Carole O'Neill stated Dog Park: Tales of Heartbreak, Laughter, Community and Hope is a wonderful contemporary fiction. You don't even have to like dogs to enjoy this book. Every time I drive by the dog park in our neighborhood, I try to imagine the stories playing out among the owners. Michelle has captured the socialization happening within those fences. From widows using the park to prevent an otherwise lonely afternoon, to the young girl escaping the abuse of her father, each story will make you realize there is more going on than what first meets the eye. The optimism, strength and sadness I read about throughout the book gave me a new outlook on the pet owners who spend time at the park – an actual community behind the gate. O'Neil's characters are engaging, full of engaging backstories. I haven't had a dog for many years, but this book has given me a reason to revisit that decision. On June 25, 2020 I decided to start this podcast. You'll learn the story of how this podcast started, how it's changed my sobriety, how it's changed me professionally, how it's helped me do my own “work”, and some of the hurtful things people have said to me over the years. I want to share about the shifts I've had to make to sustain being a public person. These are, addressing my addiction to work, learning to not depend on external validation and recognition, being ok with being misunderstood, and letting go of old dreams that no longer fit who I am today. Trending with Timmerie - Catholic Principals applied to today's experiences.
Timmerie shares a sense of awe and joy at the incredible increase in Catholic conversions happening globally... especially in places like France, the U.S., and the U.K. We’re talking up to 70% increases in some dioceses! The Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas had a whopping 72% jump in conversions from 2023 to 2024. Most of these new Catholics are Gen Z and millennials. Yep... young adults in their 20s and 30s are filling the pews and receiving the sacraments like never before. Why the Shift? Culture, COVID, and the Call of Beauty Timmerie mentions interviews from The New York Post, where recent converts shared what drew them to the Church. Themes like: -A deep dissatisfaction with the "feel-good" culture of non-denominational churches -A hunger for reverence, beauty, and structure, especially found in the Mass and its ancient tradition -The disorienting chaos of the world during the pandemic, which made people pause and re-examine their faith. Take Sydney Johnson, a 30-year-old from California. The hustle culture had her burned out. During COVID, she slowed down, turned to prayer, and was captivated by the depth and order of the Catholic tradition. Same for Adrian Lawson, also 30, who struggled with mental health until the Rosary and Catholic community gave him a new lease on life. He said, "Since I started praying the Rosary and converted, I haven't had any of those issues." Lost in the World, Found in the Church A New York priest, Fr. Raymond La Grange, echoed a powerful point: young people are realizing the world can't give them what they're looking for. Everything is arbitrary, and that’s exhausting. They crave something solid, something with order, and they want something real. The Movement Goes Global And it’s not just the U.S. In France, over 10,000 adults converted this Easter alone, a 45% increase... with nearly half aged 18 to 25. Another 7,400 teenagers received the sacraments, up 33%. In the U.K., 41% of young adult churchgoers are now Catholic, compared to just half that being Anglican. Timmerie even heard from French priests and sisters, many from the Community of St. John, who said some conversions are even coming secretly from Islam, with people risking everything to follow Christ. The sisters emphasized that, even in secular and anti-religious environments, God is still calling hearts, and people are responding. Evangelization Is Working... And We’re All Part of It A French sister told Timmere that this surge is happening because people are evangelizing boldly: sharing the Gospel, standing for truth, inviting others into the Church. That’s our mission too. People are yearning for something more... something whole, transcendent, and healing. The Catholic Church offers exactly that.

2 Kings 10:32-12:21, Acts 18:1-22, Ps 145:1-21, Pr 18:1
Motherhood demands that we see the beauty and the lessons in the micro moments that most people take for granted while mindlessly scrolling on their phones, rushing out the door, or even when they're physically present but mentally checked out. The magic of motherhood happens in the quotidian, mundane, messy interactions, not in the elaborate, grand gestures. The spiritual calling of motherhood is available to every mother; the question is, is every mother ready to answer its call? When our frenetic society obsessed with metrics, productivity, efficiency, and jam-packed schedules is telling us to do more and be more, that should be our cue to slow down and be nowhere else but present. If we aren't really present for our kids, then what is the point of all of this anyway? What magical, picture-perfect moment are we trying to fast forward to, and why does our culture laud business as if there is no higher honor to achieve? Join just the two of us as we reflect upon how each of us is deepening our response to the spiritual calling of motherhood.Resources + Books Mentioned: Rebecca Giannini - The Present Parents Coaching (code MOTR saves you 15%)Scattered Minds by Dr. Gabor Mate, MDThe Conscious Parent by Dr. Shefali Tsabary, MDThe Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents by Deepak ChopraSupport the showJOIN OUR NEW, PRIVATE COMMUNITY! Imagine being torn between households where one taught that there is no God, and the other taught of a God whose followers were scared into submission. Then, imagine finding a place of respite and radical love in a family that offered an understanding of God that inspires that radical, inclusive love. What does it really mean to “show up” online as an artist in 2025? In this episode, Mike and Joshua get ruthlessly honest about the highs, lows, and existential weirdness of building creative community in the digital era. From the myth that social platforms are just “marketing tools,” to the radical truth that emotional investment - not just content - is king, the duo pull back the curtain on what's working, what's BS, and what's just plain overwhelming for modern creatives.Whether you secretly loathe posting in your stories, feel lost in an algorithmic sea, or crave new ways to share your art (while staying sane), this conversation dives deep into workflow, boundaries, authenticity, and how to grow meaningful community online without losing your soul (and still maybe wearing a regrettable thrifted shirt).Join our Patreon for ad-free early access to episodes, exclusive discounts, weekly Q&As, and so much more. Commercial: MILL ON ETOWAH REV GENERIC_FINAL STORY 1: Students across Georgia will be learning cursive next school year Starting this fall, Georgia public schools will reintroduce cursive writing as part of the English Language Arts curriculum for elementary students. Approved in 2023, the updated standards require third graders to read and write cursive phrases, progressing to full texts by fifth grade. Advocates, including State Superintendent Richard Woods, highlight cursive's benefits for fine motor skills, literacy, and connecting students to historical documents. To promote excellence, the state will award the "John Hancock Award" to schools excelling in cursive instruction. The move has been widely celebrated, especially among supporters of traditional education values. STORY 2: Cherokee County voters invited to meet candidates July 30 Cherokee County voters can attend a public forum for Senate District 21 and Board of Commissioner District 1 special election candidates on July 30 at the historic courthouse in Canton. Hosted by the Cherokee County Farm Bureau and Chamber of Commerce, the event begins with a 5:30 p.m. meet-and-greet, followed by the forum at 6:30 p.m. Candidates will speak and answer audience-submitted questions. RSVP by July 18 via dfoward@gfbco.org or 770-479-1481 ext. 0. STORY 3: Holloway removed from ballot in Cherokee commissioner race Cameron Holloway has been disqualified from the Cherokee County Commission District 1 special election due to residency issues. The Cherokee County Board of Elections determined Holloway did not meet the one-year residency requirement, as he only updated his voter registration to Cherokee in April 2025, despite moving there in July 2024. Holloway admitted to delays in updating documents but denied any intent to deceive. The board cited evidence like his prior voting in Forsyth County and business registrations tied to a Forsyth address. Holloway accepted the decision but expressed disagreement, emphasizing his commitment to the community and future eligibility to run. The proposed eight-story, 675,000-square-foot facility would include 70 emergency bays and eight operating rooms, creating over 1,500 jobs. With the area’s population, especially those over 65, projected to grow significantly by 2030, the hospital aims to relieve pressure on Wellstar Kennestone in Marietta, which operates at near-full capacity. Wellstar emphasizes expanding access to care, including for Medicare, Medicaid, and uninsured patients. STORY 5: Georgia awards $26.5 million in transportation grants and loans The State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) awarded a record $26.5 million in Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB) loans and grants to fund 13 transportation projects statewide. Key investments include $4.9 million for a pedestrian path in Cobb County, $4.5 million for road resurfacing in Colquitt County, and $4.4 million for road projects in Dodge County. Other projects include a roundabout in Barrow County, a new roadway in Cherokee County, and safety improvements in Athens-Clarke County.
