This week on Talk Dirt To Me, we're answering your questions, taking our lumps, and diving headfirst into some of agriculture's biggest debates. One listener absolutely roasts us before asking the question that sparked one of our favorite discussions: Is ethanol actually a good thing? As a row crop farmer, Logan shares his honest perspective on ethanol, corn demand, consumer choice, and whether the benefits are as clear-cut as many people claim. We also tackle a social media comment suggesting the United States should simply eliminate row crop farming. What would actually happen if we stopped growing corn, soybeans, wheat, and cotton? We break down the real-world consequences, from the economic impact and millions of jobs tied to agriculture to livestock feed, land use, food production, and what it would mean for American farmers and consumers. As always, we've got plenty of listener Q&A covering topics from around the farm, plus another listener-submitted Top Two, where we tell the stories of the biggest times our parents caught us being bad as kids. Let's just say...we earned a few whoopings. We wrap things up with our Made in the USA Product of the Week featuring Dr. Squatch Pine Tar Soap, one of our favorite American-made products. If you enjoy honest conversations about farming, agriculture, rural life, ethanol, row crop farming, cattle, food production, and the realities of modern agriculture, be sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share the show with a friend. Scripture is powerful. It has the power to comfort, guide, convict, and restore. But when it's taken out of context or used to control, it can also leave deep wounds. In this conversation, Dr. Alison sits down with theologian and Mending the Soul co-founder Dr. Steven Tracy to explore how Scripture can be used as medicine—or as poison—for those who have experienced abuse. Together, they unpack some of the most commonly misused passages around submission, forgiveness, honoring parents, and divorce, while offering a more faithful way of reading Scripture: one that reflects God's heart for the vulnerable, the oppressed, and the wounded. Here's what you'll cover * Why spiritually abusive people often weaponize Scripture* How to recognize the difference between biblical truth and spiritual manipulation* What God reveals about His heart for those experiencing abuse* Why humility matters when we interpret Scripture* How healthy boundaries honor both God and human dignity* How survivors can begin rebuilding trust in both God and His Word Whether you've experienced spiritual abuse yourself, love someone who has, or simply want to handle Scripture with greater wisdom and compassion, this conversation offers both clarity and hope. Because God's Word was never meant to keep you trapped in harm. It was always meant to lead you toward healing. Join us for the final episode of Defender Fridays as Eric Capuano, creator of Defender Fridays and co-founder of Digital Defense Institute, closes out the series with a candid conversation on how he's actually building and running agentic workflows in the SOC today. At Defender Fridays, we delve into the dynamic world of information security, exploring its defensive side with seasoned professionals from across the industry. Our aim is simple yet ambitious: to foster a collaborative space where ideas flow freely, experiences are shared, and knowledge expands. What We'll DiscussIn this episode, Eric Capuano draws on years of SOC operations, detection engineering, and hands-on agentic workflow development to share what's actually working, what isn't, and where the industry needs to be more honest with itself.Key Topics:Why agentic workflows are the next evolution of SOAR, and what it takes to build them reliablyHow deterministic checkpoints at every stage are essential to making LLM-driven workflows trustworthyHow one team increased their detection engineering output by 900x using agentic workflows running day and nightWhy false positive tuning and detection engineering are the right place to start before tackling complex investigative workflowsHow to think about model selection in agentic pipelines: cost, task complexity, and stakesWhy organizations with poor data hygiene will struggle to get value from AI regardless of how sophisticated the tooling isThe risks of prompt injection when feeding untrusted inputs into LLMs, and why trusted inputs should always come firstWhy the goal is to use LLMs for as little as possible, and push everything else into deterministic stepsAbout Our GuestEric Capuano is the creator of Defender Fridays and co-founder of Digital Defense Institute. He has spent years doing SOC operations, detection engineering, threat hunting, and DFIR, and currently consults on building and deploying agentic SecOps workflows for security teams. What if healing isn't just about changing your circumstances—but also tending what's been growing inside of you? Last week, we explored the metaphor of seed and soil: the way your nature and your nurture shape who you become. This week, we're going deeper. Because your inner world isn't just one plant—it's more like a whole garden. In this episode, we'll explore the difference between tending your inner garden and tending the outer soil around you. You'll learn why old patterns can still show up even after you've changed your life, why boundaries are not punishment, and how real healing involves both compassion for what grew inside of you and courage to change what surrounds you now. Here's what we cover: *How to recognize the tender, resilient, overgrown, and buried parts of your inner world *Why changing your outer environment helps—but doesn't automatically heal the inner one *The difference between boundaries as punishment and boundaries as self-stewardship *How differentiation helps you stay connected to yourself, even in difficult relationships *Why real change is possible, even if the soil around you has been hard Real healing is rarely a single breakthrough moment. It's the slow, faithful work of tending what has been entrusted to you, one step at a time. Drawing from his perspective as the leader of an executive search, technology, and go-to-market recruiting consulting firm, Avetis breaks down the new roles emerging from the AI revolution and what technology leaders need to understand now.He explains why roles like Forward Deployed AI Engineers, AI Ops Leaders, and GTM Engineers are becoming critical as companies shift from simply experimenting with AI to actually implementing it in ways that drive business outcomes. Rather than viewing AI purely as a cost-cutting tool, Avetis argues that leaders should use it to create leverage, improve quality, increase speed, and elevate their teams. This episode also examines how AI amplifies top performers, widens the gap between average and exceptional talent, and forces companies to rethink hiring, training, leadership, and team design. For executives, founders, and technology leaders, this is a practical playbook for building AI-native teams without losing the human side of leadership.TakeawaysAI will eliminate certain tasks and roles, but it will also create entirely new categories of work. The biggest career risk is not AI itself, but being replaced by someone who knows how to use AI better.AI does not make average performers equal to top performers; it amplifies the people who already have stronger judgment, work ethic, and learning ability.Leaders who treat AI only as a headcount reduction tool are thinking too short-term.Companies should train every employee on AI instead of limiting AI knowledge to technical teams.Organizations need to reward outcomes, not activity, while still maintaining strong quality standards. The future belongs to high-leverage teams that combine human judgment, machine intelligence, strong leadership, and operational discipline.Chapters00:00 Why AI May Create More Jobs Than It Replaces02:25 How Technology Waves Create New Opportunities05:15 Forward Deployed AI Engineers and Business Outcomes06:35 AI Ops Leaders, Governance, and Execution07:30 Why GTM Engineers Are Becoming So Valuable09:30 AI Rewards Top Talent and Widens the Performance Gap11:52 Why Leaders Should Think Leverage, Not Replacement13:00 What Companies Are Getting Wrong About AI Cost Cutting14:17 Training Every Employee to Use AI15:00 Rewarding Outcomes Instead of Activity15:45 Hiring for Adaptability in the AI Era16:43 Building AI-Native Leadership and Human-Centered Teams17:30 Technology Redistributes Opportunity18:20 The Real Risk: Someone Using AI Replacing You19:09 Final Thoughts for Leaders Building Responsible AI TeamsResources and Links:https://www.hireclout.comhttps://www.podcast.hireclout.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/hirefasthireright

In this episode of the Land to Lots™ Podcast, Carter Froelich continues his discussion with James Hamill, Managing Director of the California Statewide Communities Development Authority, and Bob Williams, Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets, on the practical mechanics of using California's Statewide Community Infrastructure Program. This episode takes a deeper look at how SCIP proceeds are incorporated into a project pro forma, the difference between financing fees and financing infrastructure, and the timing considerations developers and builders should understand before entering the program. James and Bob also discuss how agencies participate in SCIP, when taxable bonds may be used, and why the program can be a competitive advantage for both developers and municipalities looking to support growth. In Part 2 of this conversation, you'll learn: How developers should think about timing bond proceeds in the project pro forma. The difference between using SCIP to finance impact fees versus public infrastructure. Why infrastructure reimbursement typically requires completed improvements, agency inspection, and approved requisitions. Why using SCIP proceeds as construction financing is difficult under California public works requirements. How fee credits and reimbursements work when financing development impact fees. When taxable SCIP bonds may be used and how they differ from tax-exempt bonds. What steps are required for cities, counties, school districts, and special districts to participate in CSCDA and SCIP. Why SCIP can be a deciding factor in whether a project pencils for developers and builders. How municipalities can use SCIP as a tool to attract development without taking on the administrative burden of forming and managing districts themselves. The value of SCIP's flexibility for small, medium, and large projects across California. In This Episode: Have you ever found yourself counting down the days until your next vacation just to escape your daily routine? On this episode of the Achieve Results NOW! podcast, Mark and Theron break down why relying on temporary escapes is a trap and challenge listeners to break away from the "popularity of misery" culture. By intentionally structuring your daily routine around your identity, optimizing your environment for your natural energy rhythms, and choosing progress over perfection, you can design a life you actually enjoy waking up to every single day. The hosts lay out a tactical 3-step action plan to help you stop fighting the "Monday Blues" and start sustaining high performance. Core Concepts & Key Takeaways: The Litmus Test: If you consistently dread Monday mornings, it's an undeniable indicator that you need to audit and change how you operate. The Popularity of Misery: Modern culture popularizes complaining about jobs, school, and being perpetually exhausted. Breaking away from this default mindset is the prerequisite to living a fulfilling life. Bad Hours vs. Bad Days: A challenging event or a "bad hour" doesn't have to define your entire day. Shift your focus to what you can control in the current moment. The 3-Step Blueprint to Designing Your Life: Step 1: Align Your Daily Life with Your Core Identity Audit the Gap: Explicitly identify your top 1–3 personal values and evaluate how much time you are actually committing to them each week. Eliminate or Renegotiate: Permanently remove or delegate low-value tasks that continuously drain your energy. Shift the Mindset Language: Reframe daily obligations from "I have to do this" to "I get to do this." Protect Your Fuels: Identify the non-negotiable activity that completely recharges you (e.g., a specific workout, walking the dog, or quiet coffee time) and make it an absolute priority. Step 2: Design Your Environment for Sustained Energy Structure Around Peak Windows: Identify your natural energy levels. Schedule your creative, high-impact tasks during your peak energy hours and save administrative or lower-demand tasks for lower energy windows. Integrate Recovery Habits: Replace mindless "dead time" (like zoning out on the couch for hours watching Netflix) with quick, active recovery practices throughout the day, such as brief walks, focused breathing patterns, or short mental breaks. Step 3: Pursue Progress, Not Perfection Set Challenging Short-Term Goals: Establish a 30-day or 90-day focus goal that pushes you just far enough out of your comfort zone to create necessary friction and growth. Celebrate Process Milestones: Shift your praise away from solely looking at outcomes (like sales totals or weight numbers) and track your process markers. Celebrate showing up—especially on the days you didn't want to. Connect Your Work to a Higher Purpose: When motivation naturally dips, fight procrastination by asking yourself the critical question: "Who benefits when I show up fully as my best self, and who do I let down if I choose to give a mediocre effort?" Action Step Challenge for This Week: Don't try to implement everything at once. Review the steps above, pick one specific sub-action that deeply resonated with you today, and test it consistently for the next 7 days. Are you still the bottleneck in your clinic even though you have a team? In this solo episode, Dr. Lauryn is back with part two of her conversation on owner dependency, and this time she is getting practical. If your team still needs constant hand-holding, your systems feel messy, and delegation feels harder than just doing it yourself, this episode is your next step.Dr. Lauryn walks through the SEAD framework: Simplify, Eliminate, Automate, and Delegate. She explains how to use team time audits, blank org charts, AI tools, VAs, software automation, and smarter delegation to create real bandwidth inside your practice. This is not about dumping more work onto your staff. It is about cleaning up chaos, freeing your best people for higher-level ownership, and helping you finally move from manager mode into CEO mode.Key Takeaways:Before you delegate more, you need to understand what your team is already carrying. A full team time audit helps reveal repeated tasks, interruptions, unnecessary approvals, manual work, and hidden capacity leaks. The SEAD framework gives clinic owners a practical way to clean up operations before adding more responsibility to the team. Simplify what is too complicated, eliminate what no longer matters, automate what software or AI can handle, and delegate work to the right person or resource.Delegation should not start by pushing your chaos onto an already overwhelmed employee. The first move is often delegating tasks away from your team to a VA, software, AI tool, outside service, or lower-level support role.Moving from manager to CEO requires patience, leadership, and a willingness to invest time now for freedom later. Your team needs clarity, authority, safety to make mistakes, and structured support as they take ownership of higher-value work.Resources:Find all things Dr. Lauryn B including ways to work with herFollow Dr. Lauryn: Instagram | Facebook | LinkedInFollow She Slays on YouTubeMentioned in this episode:INSiGHT CLAThis episode is brought to you by the INSiGHT scanning system from CLA, the tool that helps chiropractors show patients objective neurological data so the value of care becomes clear, fueling conversion, retention, and growth. Bodycam footage from the United Kingdom has turned Henry Nowak's death from a local outrage into a national indictment. The footage appears to show officers handcuffing an 18-year-old stabbing victim, dismissing his pleas for help, and treating him as the suspect while he bled to death. Nowak, an 18-year-old from Essex, reportedly told officers, “I can't breathe,” and “I've been stabbed.” Officers mocked him, denied that he had been injured, and debated whether they had any obligation to check. The case has drawn comparisons to George Floyd in the United States. The comparison is imperfect, but the contrast is obvious: In Nowak's case, the police had every reason to believe the man on the ground needed urgent medical care. Kim Rogers (aka 'Worm Queen') is the co-founder and CEO of RogersHood Apothecary, a wellness company specializing in herbal detox and cleansing kits. You can purchase her best-selling Parasite ParaFy Cleanse Kit here. EPISODE SUMMARY BELOW-- I. Apothecary vs Pharmacy Discussion Nate and Kim discussed the origins and meanings of the words "apothecary" and "pharmacy," with Kim explaining how apothecary refers to natural herbal medicine while pharmacy refers to synthetic medications. Kim shared her experience going viral on TikTok in 2021 as the "worm queen" after discovering a parasite cleanse that helped resolve health issues she had been struggling with since 2019. II. Parasite Cleanse Business Journey Kim shared her journey from a 18-year career in Western medicine to creating her own parasite cleanse business after gaining significant TikTok fame when a video about deworming went viral, increasing her following from 10,000 to 210,000 in just two days. She discussed how she later discovered she had chronic Lyme disease undiagnosed for 30 years and mold poisoning, which led her to create additional health products including a Moldies kit. Kim explained that while she was a licensed medical specialist, she carefully avoids giving medical advice on her social media, instead sharing her personal experiences and what herbs have helped her, noting that TikTok later changed its community guidelines to restrict parasite cleansing content. III. Social Media Content Suppression Kim discussed her experience with social media suppression on TikTok and Instagram, where her content was significantly limited despite having 600,000 followers on TikTok. Despite the platform restrictions, Kim continued creating content daily across multiple platforms including Instagram, YouTube, and a podcast called "What's Eating You," with the goal of providing affordable and accurate testing for parasites, mold, and Lyme disease. She explained that her mission is driven by personal experience with health issues that altered her life, and she has expanded from a small shop to a 14,000 square foot facility while offering free educational content alongside her paid testing kits. IV. Kim's Health Advocacy Challenges Kim discussed her challenges fighting against Big Pharma, including being banned from 26 accounts over five years while building a following of 1.5 million across platforms. She shared her personal health struggles with chronic Lyme disease and PTSD from medical neglect, while continuing to advocate for alternative treatments including acupuncture, IVs, and red light therapy. The conversation included a detailed explanation of Kim's viral podcast clip about treating pinworms using scotch tape, which led to a broader discussion about the limitations of Western medicine and the need for comprehensive treatment approaches. V. Parasite Diagnosis and Treatment Challenges Kim and Nate discussed modern medicine's approach to treating health issues, with Kim sharing her experience of being diagnosed with worms and cryptosporidium parvium after catching them from water in Hoodsport, Washington. Kim explained that standard labs in the US failed to detect these parasites, requiring her to send samples to Mexico for proper diagnosis. She described the challenges of getting treatment approved by insurance due to the lack of domestic lab confirmation, and how her husband's treatment was denied despite the Mexican lab results showing his condition. VI. Lyme Disease Treatment Approaches Kim discussed her experiences with a controversial drug ending in "mectin" and explained the importance of using binders when taking it, as the drug kills parasites and releases toxins that need to be neutralized. She described how synthetic drugs like Iver work to break down biofilms and expose parasites, while also explaining her herbal approach that includes specific frequency-matched herbs to target different ailments. Kim revealed she was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2023 after being bitten by ticks at age 11, and shared her experience of having worms come out through her skin and urine. VII. Chronic Illness and Medical Journey Kim shared her experience with chronic illness, including being diagnosed with Lyme disease, which she described as creating a "mirror" that masks other health issues like mold, parasites, and heavy metals from the immune system. She explained how medical professionals often dismissed her concerns about unusual tissue findings during surgeries, attributing them to normal inflammation or scar tissue. Kim ultimately chose to surrender her medical license to avoid the constraints of conventional medical practice and pursue alternative approaches to healing. VIII. Heavy Metal Detox and Health Kim explained how heavy metals enter the body through food, pharmaceuticals, dental work, and contaminated water, emphasizing the importance of natural remedies like cilantro for detoxification. She discussed how Candida overgrowth can be managed with herbs like Oregon grapefruit and Usnea to prevent sugar cravings and systemic issues. Kim also highlighted the dangers of tap water, which may contain nematodes, pharmaceuticals, and heavy metals, recommending against drinking tap water and suggesting water testing as a preventive measure. IX. Parasite Cleansing and Health Effects Kim explained that parasites are widespread, estimating that approximately 3.5 billion people worldwide have parasites, though official statistics only show 60 million cases in the US. She discussed how parasites can affect health conditions like MS and how she developed her own parasite cleansing kits after working in medical research. When Nate asked about criticism from scientists calling parasite cleansing pseudoscience, Kim defended her approach, stating that wormwood has been scientifically proven to eliminate parasites and that many people she has tested have confirmed parasite presence. X. Parasite Treatment and Compliance Goals Kim discussed her experience with parasites and their connection to mental health, particularly during full moons. She explained her Purify kit, which includes three tinctures and a binder taken daily, along with additional products like a lymph kit. Kim mentioned their goal to achieve FDA compliance within two months to allow store distribution, and shared her belief that Lyme disease affects brain function, potentially making people more susceptible to certain influences.
In this episode, we're talking about echolalia, what it really is, what it's doing, and why so many autistic children communicate this way. For years, many educators and therapists were taught to reduce echolalia or move children "past it." But research, autistic voices, and deeper understanding of gestalt language processing have helped shift that thinking in important ways. Echolalia is not meaningless repetition. It is communication. Today's conversation explores: what echolalia actually is the difference between immediate and delayed echolalia how gestalt language processors acquire language differently why scripts and repeated phrases often carry deep meaning what educators can do instead of trying to eliminate echolalia how to support communication in more affirming and responsive ways Because every echo carries meaning. And when we stop trying to eliminate it, we can finally start listening. In This Episode, You'll Learn • What echolalia actually is and why it matters • The difference between immediate and delayed echolalia • What Gestalt language processing (GLP) means • How GLPs acquire language differently than analytic language processors • Why scripts and repeated phrases often carry emotional meaning • Common signs a child may be a gestalt language processor • Why echolalia should not be treated as meaningless repetition • How echolalia supports regulation, processing, requesting, protesting, and connection • Why declarative language is often more supportive than constant questions • How to model language from the child's perspective • Why AAC and visuals can support clearer communication • How to shift from correcting echolalia to understanding it Key Takeaways • Echolalia is communication, not a behavior to eliminate • Many autistic children naturally process language in chunks or gestalts • Scripts often represent feelings, memories, or emotional experiences • The words a child says may not always be literal, but they still carry meaning • Questions can increase pressure for many gestalt language processors • Modeling without correction creates safer opportunities for communication growth • Pronoun reversals are often part of chunk-based language learning • Children deserve communication support that honors their natural language style • Curiosity and connection matter more than perfection Signs a Child May Be a Gestalt Language Processor Echolalia or scripting Pronoun reversals Strong musicality or memorized songs Rewatching the same scenes repeatedly Rich intonation patterns Long jargon strings with emotional tone Repeating phrases tied to emotional experiences Try This • Reduce the number of questions you ask during play and routines • Use more declarative language like "Mmm, cookie" or "Let's go outside" • Model phrases from the child's perspective • Notice repeated scripts and look for patterns around when they appear • Watch body language alongside echolalia for additional communication clues • Respond to the meaning behind the script, not just the words themselves • Support communication with visuals and AAC when needed • Pause and allow processing time instead of filling every silence Resources Mentioned Meaningful Speech https://meaningfulspeech.com/ More Than Words by The Hanen Centre https://hanen.org
