Welcome to another very occasional episode of the Tic-Tek-Toe podcast with your hosts Marcel Gagné and Evan Leibovitch. In this episode (037), the duo dives into the hardware and software defining 2026, exploring the rising appeal of compact, sealed AI mini-PCs as the perfect workaround for the sticker shock of modern desktop GPUs and RAM.They also tackle the ongoing debate between paying for multiple premium AI subscriptions versus the dream of running fully local models for coding and personal agentsMarcel demands the sci-fi promises of personal robots and advanced technology right now, while Evan takes a more cautious, patient approach (surprise, surprise). In the second half, the conversation shifts to a massive summer movie and pop-culture roundup. We've got Mandalorian and Grogu, Project Hail Mary, a John Wick-inspired take on Supergirl, Nicolas Cage in Spider-Noir, a wildly self-aware, meta version of He-Man, and Steven Spielberg's return to the alien genre with Disclosure Day.Oh, and Marcel shares his unapologetic loves for movies where dinosaurs get to eat people.

The trend, which emerged in certain feminist movements in the 1960s, has been spreading on social networks since 2020, notably under the #NoBra banner. And it seems the trend may be lasting despite the worst of Covid hopefully being behind us. We've recently seen A-Listers like Dua Lipa, Kirsten Stewart and Lily Allen go braless in public, with the Daily Mail referring to “the great underwear-free revolution that started during lockdown”. This week the Bad Dads ride across South America with The Motorcycle Diaries, Walter Salles's 2004 drama starring Gael García Bernal as young Ernesto Guevara and Rodrigo de la Serna as Alberto Granado. Before the main feature, the Dads count down their favourite movie motorcycles, from Arnie's shotgun-reloading Harley in Terminator 2 to Tom Cruise going full Cruise in Top Gun and Mission: Impossible, the Easy Rider chopper, Indy's sidecar, Tron's light cycles, Dumb and Dumber's scooter, John Wick's katana bike fight, Fonzie's Knucklehead and Dan's beloved World's Fastest Indian. What We CoveredTop 5 Motorcycles: a surprisingly rich category covering choppers, scooters, sidecars, sci-fi bikes, stunt riding and Tom Cruise's apparent allergy to helmets.La Poderosa: the battered Norton 500 that carries Ernesto and Alberto until it absolutely cannot, giving the film its comic engine and its road-movie shape.Memory vs rewatch: Sidey remembers seeing the film at the cinema and discovers he had misremembered the pair as having one bike each.Ernesto and Alberto: the Dads enjoy the friendship, the teasing, the appetite for adventure, and Alberto's role as a funny, earthy foil to Ernesto's more serious awakening.A journey through inequality: miners, indigenous communities, poverty, illness and exploitation gradually turn the trip from lads' adventure into political education. The leper colony: the San Pablo section becomes the emotional centre of the film, especially Ernesto's refusal to accept easy divisions between people.Che without the T-shirt: the group discuss how the film shows the conditions that could radicalise someone without reducing Guevara to a poster, slogan or merch logo.Show, don't tell politics: Sidey praises the film for making its points quietly; Reegs notes the documentary-like authenticity; Cris reflects on education, knowledge and the ability to imagine different power structures.Travel as transformation: Dan highlights the idea that any journey like this, at that age and through those conditions, would inevitably change you.Final images: the airport farewell, the real Alberto, the closing text and the real photographs give the film a wistful, reflective ending.Key Quotes / Moments“I thought they had a motorcycle each.”“I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.”“Top five motorcycles. I'm amazed that we've not done this before.”“He's not the same me anymore.”“It doesn't ram his ideology down your throat.”“A strong recommend all round.”VerdictA strong recommend from the Dads. The Motorcycle Diaries is praised as warm, funny, beautiful and quietly powerful — a road movie about friendship, privilege, poverty and the moment a person starts to see the world differently. You can now text us anonymously to leave feedback, suggest future content or simply hurl abuse at us. A dog just accidentally shot a woman with a shotgun in Nebraska -- yeah some guy's Australian shepherd was chilling in the back seat of his truck outside a Scottsbluff convenience store while he ran inside, the pup shifted around, pawed the trigger on a fully loaded gun with a live shell chambered, and boom, a pellet ripped through the door and nailed a lady stopped at the light with her arm hanging out the window. Cops say the injury's not life-threatening and the owner got reminded real quick that hauling around a loaded shotgun in your vehicle is straight-up illegal in the state -- because nothing screams responsible pet owner like leaving a loaded boomstick where Fido can play John Wick. The crew dives into the latest flick featuring Mandalorian and Grogu, unpacking not just their reactions to the film, but also their hopes for the future of the Star Wars franchise. They kick things off with a heartfelt nod to the idea that Grogu, the adorable little green guy, is set to outlive them all, sparking a lively discussion about the film's connection to the larger Star Wars universe. Andy, Will, Kevin, Evan, and Christian share their mixed feelings about the movie's pacing and narrative depth, while also celebrating its appeal to families and newcomers. There's chatter about the film being a fun, standalone adventure rather than a deep dive into lore, and the hosts explore what that means for the future of the beloved saga. With witty banter and thoughtful insights, they set the stage for a two-part conversation on what's next for Star Wars, promising to keep things lively and engaging. The conversation kicks off with the crew diving deep into the excitement surrounding the new Mandalorian and Grogu film. Andy Walsh, the host, sets the stage with a nostalgic nod, hinting at Grogu's long lifespan and the implications of his adventures. The panel, which includes Will Rose, Kevin Schafer, Evan Garcia, and Christian Ashley, each share their personal experiences and feelings about the film, revealing a mix of enthusiasm and critical reflection. Will, fresh off his sabbatical, openly expresses his love for the Star Wars universe, recalling how the franchise sparked his geeky passion back in '77. He contrasts the film's simplicity with his desire for deeper lore connections, noting how it serves as an accessible entry point for families. As the discussion flows, the humor shines through, with clever banter about Grogu's toddler-like antics amid intense action sequences, drawing parallels to classic films like John Wick and the Muppets. The team acknowledges the film's appeal to both young audiences and seasoned fans, ultimately agreeing that it may lack the weight of previous Star Wars narratives but succeeds as a fun, standalone adventure. The episode wraps up with a tease for the next part, promising even more speculation on where the Star Wars franchise should venture next, leaving listeners craving more. In a lively exploration of the Mandalorian and Grogu film, the panelists reflect on their personal ties to the Star Wars saga and how the new release fits into the larger narrative. Andy Walsh leads the discussion, guiding his fellow geeks through their mixed feelings about the film's balance of humor and action. Will Rose shares his journey from skepticism to enjoyment, emphasizing the film's effectiveness as a family-friendly introduction to the franchise. The hosts delve into the film's plot, contrasting its straightforward narrative with the complex lore of the Star Wars universe. They humorously dissect the film's tonal shifts, comparing Grogu's antics to a blend of John Wick's grit and Muppet-style whimsy. Each panelist contributes their unique perspectives, with Evan Garcia recounting a heartwarming theater experience with his kids, while Kevin Schafer reflects on the film's exploration of legacy and mentorship. The group highlights the film's potential to attract new fans while pondering its implications for future Star Wars stories, ultimately setting the stage for a deeper discussion in the next episode. As the crew navigates the new Mandalorian and Grogu film, the conversation is rich with nostalgia, humor, and critical insights. Andy Walsh kicks things off with a nod to the enduring legacy of Grogu, prompting a lively dialogue among the hosts. Will Rose articulates his journey from skepticism to appreciation, noting that while he initially sought connections to the broader Star Wars lore, he found joy in the film's simplicity. The panel shares anecdotes from their theater experiences, revealing how the film resonated differently with young viewers, particularly in its blend of action and humor. The witty banter flows, with comparisons to other beloved franchises, and the hosts reflect on the film's potential to serve as a jumping-off point for new fans. Kevin Schafer adds depth to the conversation by probing into the themes of mentorship and legacy, while Christian Ashley raises questions about the film's narrative choices. The group concludes by teasing the next episode, hinting at a deeper dive into the future of Star Wars and the direction the franchise should take, leaving listeners eager for more.Takeaways:The podcast crew feels that the new Mandalorian and Grogu film serves as a great entry point for new fans, especially families with kids, making it accessible without heavy lore baggage.Listeners should brace themselves for a tonal blend in the film, shifting from intense action reminiscent of John Wick to lighter, Muppet-like moments that could be jarring for some viewers.Discussion highlights the film's lack of deeper connections to the larger Star Wars universe, leaving fans wanting more intricate ties to legacy characters and plot threads. The hosts collectively agree that while the film is fun and engaging, it lacks the emotional depth and character arcs typically expected from a major cinematic release. There's a consensus that Grogu's character needs to evolve to keep the narrative fresh, and many hope to see him mature in future installments. The podcast suggests that the Mandalorian film feels like a series of episodic adventures rather than a significant cinematic chapter, reflecting a shift in how Star Wars stories can be told.Mentioned in this episode:Systematic GeekologyOur show focuses around our favorite fandoms that we discuss from a Christian perspective. In this episode of Things Police See, host Steve Gould sits down with retired NYPD veteran George Sichler for an unforgettable look into the world of elite law enforcement special operations. Serving 20 years with the nation's largest police force, George transitioned from the intense "meat grinder" patrol blocks of NYC to the high-stakes NYPD Harbor and Scuba teams. George shares incredible firsthand accounts of what it's like to drop from helicopters into pitch-black waters, executive life-or-death maritime rescues miles offshore, and navigate zero-visibility "black water" recovery missions. He also reveals a fascinating look at his post-career opportunities, including his time in Hollywood training Keanu Reeves for John Wick (and the true story behind the famous "Wick flick"). From surviving the chaos of New York City patrol to his current role in emergency preparedness with Mira Safety, George's insights offer masterclass advice on career longevity, the power of professional networking, and never-ending training. We're absolutely loaded with stuff today! So much going on. Online Rock Stop from 7am until 8:35am thanks to Great River Harley-Davidson. Doc hooked us up with a Racing Report Extra thanks to County Materials in Holmen & Eau Claire. Check out the scheduled action for tonight at the Red Cedar Speedway! It's "One Gotta Go Wednesday" and we had to pick between four of our favorite candies: Reese's PB Cups, KitKat, Twix, & Snickers! Tough decision to make. In the news this morning, a #FloridaWoman is arrested after leaving her kid in a hot car for several hours while she went to donate plasma, a man in Appleton tried to burn a Pride flag, Peabo Bryson passed away, apparently Google is releasing millions of mosquitos in #Florida, and some vandals tried to sabotage the Freedom 250 event happening in DC. In sports, the Brew Crew got some solid pitching again last night to beat the Giants, the Vegas Golden Knights took a 1-0 series lead on the Carolina Hurricanes last night, the NBA Finals begin tonight at 7:30pm on ABC, Josh Jacobs was at Packers OTAs yesterday, Zach Werenski wins the Norris Trophy in the NHL, and Drake London gets a MASSIVE contract from the Falcons. We talked about what's on TV today/tonight and also discussed a guy who claims that the original "John Wick" film was his idea. Plus, a new documentary about Peter Frampton is coming out soon! Elsewhere in sports, the cover athletes for EA Sports new College Football game have been announced, Jo Adell pulls a Jose Canseco, and the youth baseball coach who got banned for life probably shouldn't have even been coaching in the first place. Uber released it's list of the strangest things left behind in 2025, and we discussed the five things you MUST have when you travel. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a leaf blower that got mistaken for a bazooka, a Pizza Hut curb-stomping, a hot sauce bottle that looks like a grenade, and a cop who got fired for pulling his gun on another officer who was microwaving fish in the office.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
