So let's go ahead and jump into today's episode. Hey everyone, welcome to the show today. This is Brian Webb, your host. I'm flying solo today, and today I'm going to talk all things lead magnet and I'm going to describe what a lead magnet is, we're going to talk about the important components of a lead magnet, and I'm going to share with you thirteen of my favorite lead magnets that you can use to grow your email list, cultivate leads, and grow your business and increase your revenue. Now I know good and well that my podcast audience is really a blend of entrepreneurs and business leaders, people who probably don't even really know marketing, you're wanting to learn. And I've got people in the audience who quite frankly, are very, very sophisticated marketers, and some of those have actually been on the podcast. So today I'm talking to you, entrepreneur, solopreneur, business owner, the person who wants to learn how to grow your business smarter and faster, but you have no idea what all this marketing stuff is. And today, as I told you, we're going to talk about lead magnets and you might be thinking, first of all, Brian, what is a lead magnet? Lead magnet is really an industry term. It's nomenclature. All it is is an online incentive offered to your prospects in exchange for their email address or their cell phone number. Generally speaking, lead magnets are downloadable digital content, an ebook, a PDF checklist, a white paper, or a training course, or what is called a sideway sales letter, meaning a video series that might drip down over several days or a week or two. But a lead magnet is also known, AKA by the way, as a lead generator can be an opt-in offer, meaning you always are trying to collect their email address and/or their cell phone number, but it could be for a course, it could be for a coupon or a video series. The goal of your lead magnet is basically to attract, to dangle what Dan Sullivan calls that juicy carrot, attract visitors to sign up for whatever your online business is offering and/or your brick and mortar business. And before I share some of my favorite lead magnets, and these are powerful by the way, because remember you can make these in a half-hour or less. So the four elements of a lead magnet are one, you need a form. You need a place where your audience, your prospects, can go and give you their information in exchange for the lead magnet or the lead generator that you want to give back to them. Second, you need a piece of content. This needs to be something as enticing as possible, as irresistible as possible, that you offer to your visitor in exchange for their information. Delivery email, obviously, someone came to the forum. They said yes, they raised their hand, they took a micro-step in your direction. You already have your content, you've got to deliver that to them. You're going to do that via a delivery email, so this email gets sent to your visitor, who fills out that form, which includes a link or a file to the content that you're giving to them. And ultimately, you need a thank you page. This is the page that your visitor will see after they download the content or fill out your form. Right? So while this fourth element is really an option, it's a great way to kickstart the relationship with you and your new lead, your prospect. And you might be asking yourself, do lead magnets actually work? And the answer is an emphatic yes. There's all kinds of benefits associated with using a lead magnet. For example, if you're an online business, your offer is an excellent list-building opportunity to help you develop customer relationships and ultimately increase sales, right? Additionally, lead magnets really work to help you create an audience for your business that's going to be super, super receptive to your marketing efforts, ads, email campaigns, sales calls, everything. Because people in this audience have already demonstrated an interest in your business, your products, your services, and that you have generously given them something that alleviates pain, a problem, you solve a problem. So if you're going to be making a lead magnet, no matter what type it's going to be, and remember, I'm going to share 13 of them with you today, right? Here are the guiding principles that you need for every lead magnet that you ever make. Hopefully, the first one is the most obvious, be valuable. Be ridiculously valuable. Nothing in life is free, including building an email list of prospects, growing your leads. But in order for them to give up that information, future customers want something valuable. Again, solve a problem, deliver them from pain, or propel them towards pleasure. An example of delivering them from paying, for example, might be eight tips to save $100,000 on your income taxes this year, right? That's painful. Propelling them towards pleasure might become to our resort for a free night's stay. That's giving them something that would bring pleasure into their life. Second, offer instant gratification. Anyone who gives you their email address, or even better their cell phone number, they're looking for a solution now. So your lead magnet or your lead generator should be easy to sign up for, and it should quickly deliver on, its promise, whatever that value proposition is. The longer it takes for your prospect to apply or receive your offer, the more likely it is that they will lose interest or just become distracted. Third, it should be well designed. If your lead magnet is just unappealing, unprofessional, undesirable, if it's sloppy, your audience won't have much faith in your brand or company or what you do. Your lead magnet design is a core part of creating an asset that builds trust with your audience. So make sure whatever you create, it looks professional and it's easy on the eyes. And you might say, Brian, I'm not a designer. Hint, hint, Canva.com, C-A-N-V-A.com. You don't have to be a great anymore, there's all kinds of templates out there in the world that you can literally go drag and drop and move right into without having any graphic design experience whatsoever. And fourth, it should align with your business, your products, and your services. Your lead magnet should build consumer trust in your company, so the content that you provide should align with what your business does. For example, if you're a CPA, your lead magnet should probably not be a coupon for 50% off a gallon of paint. If you're a personal chef, your lead magnet probably shouldn't be thirteen of your favorite lead magnets. I think you're getting the point, right? So now that you understand what a lead magnet, also known as a lead generator, is I want to share with you thirteen of my favorite lead magnets that are super easy to create. First, if you have a blog, create a PDF file for your highest performing blog posts. So in other words, if you already have a blog, all you have to do is do a quick copy and paste, again, into a well designed document, convert that into a PDF, super easy, and then let that be the deliverable. So maybe log into your Google analytics account, see which blog posts are performing the best. The ones that get the most traffic or the most engagement, convert those into a PDF, make that the deliverable lead magnet. And it simply would not be hard at all to jazz them up, add some images, add a graph, add a chart. Second, consider giving away transcripts. Are you a podcaster? Are you creating video content for a YouTube channel or TikTok? Then consider making transcripts for each one of those videos. While most people do love videos, some people do prefer to consume content in different ways. For example, some would rather read a book than listen to the audio book. If you have made video content, you've already done the hard work, you've spent hours and hours and hours of creating editing and post-production, so why not go ahead and turn that into a transcript and let that be used as a lead magnet. There are all kinds of services that you can use to get audio or video transcribed into text like Rev.com, Trint, T-R-I-N-T, or Data List. These services are well worth the small cost of you using them to get a transcript from your video content. My third option or idea is think about creating a quick checklist. They are easy to make and people love checklists. Here are some examples, X number of steps to follow to create a how to blog post or a podcast, right? Or X materials needed for a do it yourself project. Or steps to follow while thinking through a particular project or an action. Or ten must have items that you need, things, whatever those are, that you can't live without. Next think about showcasing your "best in show" content with a swipe file. For copywriters, this might be a compilation of your best copy, your sales letters, emails, blog posts, or other projects that you're literally allowing people just to swipe it and use it. Regardless of what industry space or vertical that you're in, you can create a swipe file, I promise you, particularly of your best work to give away as a lead magnet. This might be past sales materials, client work, properties you've sold, quotes, blog posts, whatever. To create a swipe file, just be sure to compile documents you already have so that you can put it together quickly, follow the same processes we talked about with the checklist. Once you have all of that, make it into a PDF, protect that golden content with a lead form, there you go, 30 minutes or less. Here's an idea for those engineers out there. Those left brainers, think about delivering some analytics. Even as I'm recording this podcast. I can think of my engineer friends and colleagues and clients, and they love numbers, so sharing real world results or numerical based data can give number loving prospects the value that they love. This could be an Excel spreadsheet, it could be a graph, marketing results, a white paper, split test numbers, experiments, schedules, whatever. Just be sure to steer clear of anything that's confidential or proprietary, but this is a great one for your left brainers out there. Here's another one, give away pieces or parts of your products or service. At the end a day, whenever you're offering someone a lead magnet, your ultimate goal is what? To eventually sell your products or services. So ideally in a best case scenario, your lead magnet should help to pre-sell, to demonstrate value, thought leadership and generosity, but to pre-sell whatever product or service that you eventually want to ask them to buy anyway. Grocery stores do this, perhaps the best. I go to my local HEB here in the Houston, Texas metroplex. There's a chef, they're cooking, they're letting you sample their products, recipes, they're being generous. I can't tell you the number of times that I tried something at the grocery store, and then I bought the soup. I bought the ingredients for specific recipe. Well Brian, I don't have a grocery store. Well, maybe you're an author, give away a free chapter of your book. Maybe you're a graphic designer, maybe give away a website template. Maybe you're a consultant, give away the first module in your online course. Or if you're a realtor, how about that one? It might be a quick list of properties. Bottom line is that by giving away a piece of your product, you're giving your audience a taste of what full access or premium service that you offer might be for them as an experience. Now just a few moments ago, I told you about checklists. A checklist is in essence a to do list. It's a step by step how to, but a list all by itself is another phenomenal, phenomenal, phenomenal lead magnet. People love lists. Here are just a few, 25 email subject lines that get people to convert. My 24 favorite fill in the blank restaurants in Houston, Texas. Thirteen inspirational quotes. Twenty-nine pro tips for the manufacturing industry. Sixteen strategies to reform better as an athlete. The options that you have for creating lists are infinite and easy, so think of a list that you can create to educate your audience about your products or services or to inspire them to again, move away from some form of pain or move towards some form of pleasure. Here's an idea, give away how-tos, give away recipes. If you're a chef, if you're a trainer, if you're an instructor, a gym owner, a blog, or whatever, consider giving away a how-to document or a recipe for what you do. And if you're thinking well Brian, I'm not a cook, a recipe does not have to be for just food. Regardless of what industry you're in, you can produce a recipe for basically any result that your audience is interested in. That could be a quick list of how to do something well, a recipe or a how-to for how to carve a wooden canoe, a recipe for learning how to export Facebook data, or for how to create a custom audience in Facebook. Basically just keep in mind, you can turn your own experiences into a case study or a step by step recipe so that other people who want to replicate your results can do it. This next one can be a lot of fun. Think about giving away your personal routines. We all have them. If you have a routine that your potential audience would find valuable, put it into a PDF and give it away. This could be your habits. This could be what your perfect week Monday through Friday looks like. Maybe it's fifteen productivity hacks that you have just learned over the years. Maybe it's something from your business playbook, your calendar, other shortcuts, whatever. If you're a mechanic, your personal shortcut might be the fastest way to change your own oil or the fastest way to check your own engine. You might be thinking well Brian, I'm a life coach. How about the three things I do every morning to make sure I have a great day? Here's another one. Think about giving away your presentations. If you've created presentations, the odds are favorable that you have a couple of slide decks or PowerPoint presentations or a keynote presentation that's lurking somewhere in your hard drive that you could be sharing with your audience. A little bonus idea. If you're giving a presentation, you could set up a text message campaign that you show during your presentation that allows those in your audience to go and give you their information so that you can send them the slide deck. So you're actually creating a lead magnet that can be offered in real time. Don't forget we live in a microwave culture, people want a lot of information or ideas. They want it fast, they want it brief, and slide decks are a super digestible piece of content that can successfully be shared as a downloadable. Super, super easy. Here's one. What about your top frequently asked questions? You're a business owner, you're an entrepreneur, it's likely that you already know what questions your customers want to ask. You've been doing this for a long time. Pull together a list of your top ten, top five, top fifteen most frequently asked questions, turn it into a PDF with the answers. The best FAQs handle all of the objections that your clients may have when they're considering buying your particular products or services, so make sure you address those. This is a super, super cool opportunity to address those objections and you can provide targeted responses to their concerns. I'd be shocked if this particular lead magnet took you more than 20 minutes to create. Here's one. Give away a valuable video clip. You've created videos, probably. If so, giving away your best of video content as a lead magnet is a great idea for you to consider. Maybe it's a 15-minute clip from your past webinar that you did, or a video clip from a conference presentation that you did, or even a video of your blog content. And a bonus hack on this one. Let's just say that you end up with eight or nine video clips, don't put them all into a single folder and let them go get them, deliver them one at a time. Maybe if you have eight, deliver them one every day for the next eight days. Not only have you provided value, not only have you delivered what you said that you would, but you're getting a piece of real estate in their brain. Even if it's just for a second, even if they don't open the email for the next eight days, you're showing up. They're catching your personality, your tone of voice, your body language. It just gives you an opportunity to over an extended period of time deliver that value, drip that value to them. So that makes twelve, so the last one that I'm going to share with you, number thirteen, think about sharing your top resources or your tools. Consider making a resource guide. This type of a guide is simply a list of your favorite tools. It could be the apps that you use, it's resources that you'd like to recommend to your audience. Maybe this is a list of your top websites. Maybe it's the tools that you use or the apps that you run your business on. By the way, if you do this, include links to all of those websites. And it probably can go without being said, but I'm going to say it anyway, your list of resources should probably entice your audience to want your products or services. On that list, your final recommendation should always include your business website or your business's app or your business's software for that matter. So there you have it, thirteen of my favorite lead magnets, the four guiding principles for what a lead magnet basically is, how they work. Every client I work with, everyone, we all need a sales funnel, we all need a stack of sales funnels. And the way that you do that is growing your email list, growing your SMS phone number list, so that you can nurture your audience over time. Deliver value first, get value later. You're just going to win whenever you are generous and whenever you give value, and when you demonstrate your competence and your thought leadership. That's the underlying foundation for success. Transcription Kyle [00:00:02] Hello everybody, and welcome to Alphabet Scoop Episode one hundred and twelve the 12th, they're being surprisingly appropriate as you'll learn more in a minute. And I'm joined here with Avner this week. Then Ben will not be joining us as he is a bit under the weather, but feeling better? I haven't watched you jump on into what we can't count on with Android 12. Leaked Android 12 mockups Abner [00:00:27] So, yes, on Tuesday, we had a rather unprecedented week of what looks to be Android 12. So before the start of any developer preview, Google shares, of course, they share this stuff with their partners. And apparently one of the documents that highlights the high level changes in Android 12 was Thelo a screenshot and made public. And this gave us what by all by all accounts, is what Android is going to look like. So starting on this, the. Bold screenshot of a new home screen that for the most part, it looks like the pixel launcher on Android, you happened today, but there it is a stark difference in that it is themed. The wallpaper is theming the rest of the system. And one of the reasons we think this week is very much authentic is because just last month we had a our own reporting about such a feature, which Kyle is going to dove into. Kyle [00:01:56] Right. Android 12 in-depth theming system Kyle [00:01:56] So we found that Android 12 is going to expand the work that's got started with Android 10, where Android introduced the idea of light theme and dark theme. Android 12 seems to be adding this much deeper, far more colorful theming system where you can choose one of a few preset colors. So don't go thinking you can choose one of a million different colors. It's you got presets, but if you can choose one of a few preset colors or have it be chosen for you based on your wallpaper, and the majority of Android is going to recolor itself to that theme, to the point that even even third party apps, if they so choose, can use that theme. Which is really bold and interesting and it. Kyle [00:02:58] It's the. Kyle [00:03:00] The cornerstone, really, of all of these screenshots is these leaked mockups is this this color system, it's unavoidable even in the camera app. Abner [00:03:11] So one of the examples of that extending into third party applications is in this mock up. Anyway, we see the dock with full apps, the phone app, the clock app and the camera, everything but the Web browser. It matches the wallpaper. And that the background is is the same color that matches these mountains and hills that's in the wallpaper. And everything is just themed around that in a way that you wouldn't associate with Google's usual app icon design. So it's it's it really personalized your phone ad in the way that is really, really in the past a quiet a you install a third party launcher and then get act and then downvote icon packs. But Google is giving its own clock, its own interpretation at. Pretty intensive customization from a rather minimal for a rather minimal amount of work, which in this case appears to just be choosing the wallpaper. I wonder if Google is going to let people how how much theming, what is they basically going to be a giant switch that lets you turn off this theming and use the experience, the like the default theme on and what you have. And I wonder. Kyle [00:04:53] Or if that default theme is just going to be white or black, as it were, or essentially the light or the dark is the default. More after these themes are even going to have their own, like, is there a dark sand variant? Abner [00:05:11] Yeah, that it really does conflict with the idea. Well, if Google puts in the work, I'm sure they could do a light and dark theme. I think that would be necessary because as much customization as there is in there appears to be, I think some people always want to adopt them. So that might be a prerequisite to all of these themes. So, yeah, these these this screenshot, I think it's somewhat notable that we also there's a I we see a black dot and all these screen shots in the middle of the screen suggests suggesting where the front facing camera is at the top. So I don't know if that's the direction that the pixel phones taking to see it because there is always some close alignment. I wouldn't read too much into it, but maybe it's a hint at where Hadaway is going, but just a thought. So yeah, this design, would you use it. Would you go all out and customize? Kyle [00:06:24] And pick the perfect wallpaper to get the perfect theme, if they if if there's a nice dark blue or something along those lines. Yeah, I would probably would probably do it. Something that's not just black. Yeah. Yeah. I think it would look pretty good. Now to sand. Send Miss me with that. What color would you pick. Abner [00:06:48] Oh I'll just stick with the thought that you of the usual doc dark palette and black accent color which was why I was asking. Oh yeah. It's, it's familiar but I don't know maybe I'll try a crack at it. It's, I don't know. It all depends on. Abner [00:07:06] I guess the preset wallpapers are going to be really important if this works out, because presumably they'll be perfectly themed to what to do the default color packs you were mentioning at the top. But, yeah, it's I think people are going to love this, that there's no doubt that people would enjoy this deeper level of customization, how it works, how it conflicts with third party OEMs, particularly Samsung. Abner [00:07:41] That's the question that deserves. That's going to be interesting to see what latitude Google gives the OEM partners. Kyle [00:07:51] I mean, it could just be a matter of, OK, they ship a light and they ship a dark and those probably come by default in Android and it just ships and it just works with light and dark and nothing else happens. It seems like a very optional feature, but as long as there is a light and a dark, then the third party apps don't break because they're still matching something. Notification shade gets design changes Abner [00:08:17] So, yeah, so that's the homescreen we get a look at. The second thing is the notification shape. As you swipe down the screen, we see Google blowing the background so that you can't really see the home screen what you can today. Abner [00:08:38] But what's more, viatical. Abner [00:08:42] Yeah, or a stark departure from and what you have is discovered this, Kyle. It's it's everything is a very curvy. Kyle [00:08:52] It's Samsung like almost. It's passed with just rounded corners. It's it's very circular. I, I'm surprised to see it the way that it is it. It's nice, it kind of reminds me of a Google assistant snapshot, but even that isn't that curved. It's still that's modest by comparison to the curves that are on this these Android 12 mockups. Abner [00:09:22] So I can. The curves are talking about the for the notifications, and I can live with those maybe over time, but what I'm really is raising my eyebrows is what's happening with the quick something toggles today. You have the option of choosing six tiny circles, whatever you want as quick things. Abner [00:09:47] But what if the screenshot turns out to be the final version of a 12? This design mockup, we only have four. Abner [00:10:00] For Kos and. Abner [00:10:03] That useability is it looks nice, I dare say the simplicity looks much cleaner, less intimidating and all that compared to the car design, but that's those two shortcuts are going to be key for me. Even losing two is ouf. Kyle [00:10:25] I see I'm I could I can take it or leave it as far as the the number of them, but what's so interesting to me is the way that they're showing whether something is on or off. Like what what we see here is that something that's on which in the screenshot is Wi-Fi is a circle which is then shaded in it has a light symbol in there, but something that's disabled like airplane mode just next to it is in a rounded square. With a with a lighter tone, it it's interesting to me the not just using color, but also using shape to to indicate whether something is enabled or disabled. I'm part of me wonders if that's an accessibility thing. So that know, a particular theme doesn't necessarily. Obscure to to a particular person, whether or not something is on or off, but that's that's my only guess. Abner [00:11:27] If from a design perspective, I don't get why something being on is a circle or why something off is a rounded square. I just get that. But maybe they'll change down the road. New conversation widgets Abner [00:11:46] But yeah, moving on from the design is back on the home screen. We see some widgets, we see some conversation widgets, as they're called, that show messages, missed calls or activity statuses. In this case, we see A, B, C, one for a missed call from friends. We see that at some of these birthday, we see the last message. Abner [00:12:17] A person said, and we see this box, this Sujit telling you the last time you chatted with somebody was two weeks ago. In this case, it's that all again, these are really all mock ups because they're all using Facebook Messenger for the reason that you call it would be unexpected if Google prominently advertises those that app Facebook. But we see just the basic idea is that you will be able to put recent interactions with people, as I just remind those, as widgets. And this is a quick extension of that. And what you have in tentpole, where Google wants to make a more people centric OS with Android 11. And the way it's manifest today is as chat heads and as a dedicated conversation section and notifications shade. But this time Google wants to put it on the home screen in a unavoidable way that you'll see your last interaction with people. And I think this is a really drastic elevation of people. I don't know if I would necessarily use this. Just working from the conceptual screenshots. Kyle [00:13:41] Yeah, I'm not sure either, because I'm wondering what the what the priority is on on this particular widget or what the customization or what, because it's like if it was just individual friends, that doesn't quite line up because you have somebody's birthday and that same person, you have a message from them from like an hour ago. Kyle [00:14:06] So that doesn't line up and. Kyle [00:14:11] The Rachel at the top left, the first one shows two weeks ago, yeah, it's not the syndicate that's wild, but it's not something that you've done recently. Kyle [00:14:23] It's not a conversation you're going to jump back into. It's something that happened two weeks ago. So I'm not I I'm wondering if they're going to try and use some smarts, like if they're going to use A.I. to try and I don't know. I don't want to speculate too far on that because that gets creepy. But I don't know how this works. Kyle [00:14:42] I don't have enough to it seems useful, but it also seems like it could be very useless. Abner [00:14:50] Yeah. So this is, again, this this, more than anything, reveals the conceptual ness of what Google is of this mock up as well. So again, they're all using these screenshots of these widgets are being populated theoretically by Facebook Messenger. And Google simply does not have a buy in from Facebook. They don't have a guaranteed buy in to know that Facebook or support that. They must have had intensive negotiations. That's for one thing, for the to the point you are raising about. Abner [00:15:28] Google. Abner [00:15:30] The point you were amazing about how the how it's oinking, everything. Yeah, it it requires a level of integration between the operating system, knowing who your friends are. So you would tell you have to have a way telephone who is important and then that would have to be synched up with a third party messaging service. It's very complicated. Abner [00:15:59] Once if you try to logic it out in the distant final state, the intent is clear. It's getting you to talk with people again, people making a people centric OS. Abner [00:16:16] But the application would require all the buy in from third party developers because Google doesn't have their own messaging service while they have all six and the Google phone app. I guess that's something, but I think most people's conversations are happening somewhere else. And third party apps. And if this like right off the bat, I think if this only worked with SMS socks and last phone calls, I don't think most people will use it. Kyle [00:16:47] No, absolutely not. There's there would be no reason to. But one thing that comes to mind, how did that this style of integration work on Windows Phone? Because I know that was one of the only good features of Windows Phone. And from what I remember of it, but I don't know how all the connections work the tiles. Abner [00:17:09] Yes. So if memory serves Windows Phone, that pretty good integration with Facebook, that it was it was something between being able to sign to Facebook and having your contacts, your contact apps to be populated by a Facebook contacts and some merging going on. If again, if memory serves, that's how they were able to do that. But I know this requires this because Android 12, knowing who your contacts are, and I think given the way we all use multiple apps, I think that requires a deeper synergy that I don't know if Google is able to close to partner on that or Facebook without the pretty high privacy implications or if not that of giving Facebook even more data into Google users, which I don't think Google would necessarily want. Kyle [00:18:09] Right, and you can see that they would the goal of this at least, or the the ambition when they were making the mark up is for not only Google messages, which but and Facebook Messenger, but there's also WhatsApp, which I get that that's still Facebook. But the it shows the ambition of it, at least, that it's not just that they want multiple third party app by INS. Abner [00:18:36] Mm hmm. They absolutely have to. Abner [00:18:39] Yeah. These people widgets. Abner [00:18:42] And I see maybe you you put one for your spouse or significant other, but and maybe like your family or one or two friends. But any, any more I think it gets. Abner [00:18:55] The accuracy suffers, the overload becomes a bit too much. Kyle [00:19:02] OK, but you're that's on the assumption that you get to place people individually. Kyle [00:19:12] Well, I'm not sure that that's the case, so this could be like a version of the discover feed, you know, or a concept along those lines, but social oriented or here's a recommendation. We recommend that you chat with Rachel because the last time you chatted with her was two weeks ago. We recommend that you message back. Monica, who messaged you in an hour ago. Abner [00:19:37] Yeah, that OK. Abner [00:19:40] Again, these are designed mock ups at the piers, the way that Google wants to implement this is with widgets, which makes sense because it's an interesting and an existing convention that exists in Android because otherwise, as it. Abner [00:19:59] I think the idea is that they want to achieve fear of making a people Santiago s would require a whole rethink of how Android interacts and works. And I don't. And I don't think they have the. They have the they don't know yet what this is going to be a successful idea so that using widgets that can be easily removed and added as the paradigm to achieve this. But I think anything deeper, if they want to make that a at like the Windows Tight Windows phone tiles, I think that requires a deeper level redesign of the OS and. Abner [00:20:44] I don't I don't think that's it from a design perspective, I don't think there's a the user experience is going to change to you from the screenshots that you've seen now, not that fundamental of a level. Kyle [00:20:56] Nothing that we've heard or seen points to that fundamental of a redesign. Abner [00:21:01] Yeah, it's the design for most people. Yet the world will go a long way because I think when you were discussing this earlier in the week, you mentioned that that and what you have in today is identical to what Android Newgate, the Android nine say. Hi. Hi. Hi. Kyle [00:21:24] There. Syntheses there's a decent enough change between Orio and pie. Abner [00:21:28] Oh yes. That makes sense to I can see that as well. So yeah it's. Abner [00:21:35] It's. Abner [00:21:37] It's I would say, and I think most people who it's due for a visual refresh and I think the theming and the colors will go a long way to do that. But I think it's only a temporary solution in terms of what if you really want to rethink how a phone works, you need to redesign the whole OS. And I don't think we're necessarily there yet with Android 12. Kyle [00:22:02] I don't necessarily think that Android is ever going to quite get to that point. I don't think they're going to do such a, again, fundamental change. It seems like something that wouldn't jive with Android as a whole. New privacy indicators Abner [00:22:17] Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, that's the focus on people that we're definitely seeing that. So the other thing that Google looks to be very big on this release is privacy, which makes sense since people say they care very much about the privacy implications of modern technology. And the the biggest way Google is addressing this looks to be by having a camera and microphone indicators. So in the top corner, in the top right corner, that it looks like there's going to be a pill that a green pill that shows whenever your camera microphone is active over time, just shrink to a tiny green dot next to your battery icon in this case. And it looks like if you go to quick settings, you'll be able to tap it or somehow access it to get a full message. It says that camera is using the camera camera app, using the camera, rather chat, use the microphone recently. Again, these are just examples with links to open them in settings. And this is something that people have definitely been asking for since Apple introduced an iOS. Kyle [00:23:51] It's absolutely necessary. It's just a continued step that they've taken the android's been working on bringing better permissions and better privacy that way for years now. So this is just a it's just another progression. I it it stings a little to see that it's just copying what I did. But at the same time, I did it right. So there shouldn't be anything wrong in copying it. Abner [00:24:17] Indeed. Indeed. So, yeah, that should be a very welcome change to people. The other thing we see is a consolidated privacy menu, which takes us to a settings page, which, if this is correct, would bring would be very reminiscent of Samsung's one UI that and before that, of course, iOS in which settings, pages or apps, frankly, they have gigantic Habas announcing the current page on. In this case it says privacy and we have some toggles to disable camera, mute microphone and location again. And you can just just switch on and off. We only have occasion today, but I think something like the ability to disable the camera access in all apps or disable the microphone and all apps, that's, I think, welcome future for people. Kyle [00:25:23] Yeah, definitely. Just just to know have some some comfort to know that, OK, no matter it doesn't matter what app it is, doesn't matter if it's a system app, you just you turn off that microphone switch and nothing on your phone is listening for, for the for the paranoid rightfully or wrongfully that's there for you. There was a point in time where I would have loved to have had that. So that's this is this is comforting in a way. Abner [00:25:48] Yeah. So that privacy is again, it's something that people say they increasingly care about. So that looks like to be one thing that Google is continually building on from an 11 to 12 and further. So those are the screenshots. So the design mockups we've we've had this week and. Yeah, it's again, it's just visually. Abner [00:26:19] Not most people expecting, I guess, let's put it that way. Kyle [00:26:23] Yeah, I mean, especially that that pivot to one guy like you like were pointing in the. In the privacy screenshot where you have the header above, which is blank right now, but maybe there will be one, or maybe there won't for simplicity's sake, but the header to. Space it downward, bring it down for. For those who prefer to use their phone with one hand. Abner [00:26:49] Yeah, it's I am. Abner [00:26:53] That would be us, and if apps if all apps and code should help that, that's like a big indication of Samsung's one UI. Abner [00:27:06] So we'll see how far Google takes in mandating that the costs apps. But for now, that's just to design mockups we've seen. Revamped split screen with 'App Pairs' Abner [00:27:17] So another big focus. This is from Kyle reporting again last month. I think the functionality standpoint app pairs is something that you've discovered is in Development Fund or twelve. Kyle [00:27:37] Yeah. So we learned that with Android 12, there's this concept being introduced of app pairs, which is supposed to be something of a. An improvement over the existing splitscreen system in Android today, which, while useful, isn't quite up to par four for the new classes of devices like foldable bowls and even the Microsoft Surface duo where you have multiple. Multiple screens are just a large screen, and you just want to be able to quickly open to apps and then maybe switch over to using one app anyway. So what the concept of app pairs, you can open one app and then choose to open another app with it, or even potentially like we've seen on some implementations on Samsung and Microsoft phones open or tap one shortcut to open two apps at the same time. Side by side. But you these once you've pared to APS, they're treated as one kind of activity in the like in your recent APS view. So you could be using, let's say, Chrome and Slack or Chrome and Google Docs side by side and then switch over to another app. Kyle [00:29:08] Let's just say a game usually stopped for a man to play a game and then you swap back and your two apps are still right there, how you had them before. Kyle [00:29:16] Whereas today with like Android 11. Kyle [00:29:20] You can enter splitscreen mode and it just sort of pins one app to the top and then you're using the bottom half of your screen to or the other side of your screen to just. Kyle [00:29:33] To to work through a multitude of apps, it's a it's just a different way of thinking about it, that should be interesting to see how it goes. And it's nice to see Google putting effort toward foldable and dual screen devices. Abner [00:29:48] Mm hmm. Abner [00:29:49] And how often do you how do you multitask? They would splitscreen. Kyle [00:29:57] On my own, on my single phone, Everth, on when those few times that I pull out the the log 60 all the time. Abner [00:30:08] All the time. OK, OK. Yeah, it's. I honestly, the pip all people want to multitask is the video when they're watching video and being another app and I think the pip, the picture and picture really. Abner [00:30:30] Caused everybody to use multiple splitscreen multitasking and or in the days of old. Abner [00:30:37] So I'm glad they're doing another take on that. Abner [00:30:41] But I assume that the that this is mostly for dual dual screen devices or foldable like flip phone style form factors rather than single screens. And maybe Samsa Sonis excuse me, will appreciate this, given how their phones are so tall. Abner [00:31:07] But I guess in the meantime it's, it's, I don't think single average size phone, so let's say of average height will get too much of this. Abner [00:31:20] But as you say, you know, the investment for the bulls is much appreciated as this form factor and the spy technology, which is in tablets as well, thinking on it tablets would probably be able to use it quite well. Abner [00:31:34] Yes. Tablets, which people definitely have. Kyle [00:31:38] Yes, I one everyone owns and uses on a daily basis in Android tablet. Absolutely. Absolutely right. Return of 'Columbus' double tap gesture Abner [00:31:46] So, yeah, another thing that you reported on was that we were on the ballot was hopefully fingers crossed. Android 12 brings back Columbus', which has Columbus. Kyle [00:32:00] Columbus is the double tap gesture, a cheeky reference to Zombieland, where one of the rules is to always give a zombie the double tap, basically with the Android 11 developer preview. We uncovered this feature where you could tap twice on the back of your phone just to give a nice little and you activate the assistant or pull down the notification chain or just little pause your music, little things like that. And it was OK. We were excited about what it could be, but at the time it was just kind of OK. And before they did any real iteration on it and improvement's, it just disappeared. And we just figured that was the end of it, but with Android 12, it seems to or we've we've learned that it's going to be making a comeback. And that's exciting indeed. Abner [00:33:03] Yeah, it's. So Apple implemented this before Google had the chance to lie to me and I was 14, I believe all the people want an extra button is what do people want the functionality of an extra button on their phones? Abner [00:33:24] I. Kyle [00:33:27] I've yes, yes, OK. But maybe only on pixels, maybe on pixels, I came from the pixel three and I loved having the active Edge Squeeze gesture and now that I'm on the Pixel five, I can't squeeze my phone anymore to get the assistant. And while I won't get that nice haptic feedback of the squeeze anymore, it giving a double tap to the back of the phone is way easier than reaching my thumb to the bottom left corner and swiping up. So yeah, I could see myself using Klemet. Abner [00:34:04] I ask because like the Samsung phones, they have that Bigsby button. Well which is a math degree, not meant to be useful, but I believe so many phones have an excellent system. But the Nokia phones have that assistant button. I mean, maybe people will appreciate it more if they can launch one app. I'm not sure what that one app most people would select, but I'm sure a faction of people would have something they want quick access to all the time. But yeah, I'm somewhat curious. Abner [00:34:39] What's what that looks like. What a. What customization assistant is the biggest bet and to what might be the preset of Google sets to launch assistant? But my my some of the my concern is the accuracy of avoiding and popping to the back of your phone, because if assistant launches all the time, that would get annoying some people. Kyle [00:35:09] Yeah. So for sure on that front it will be optional. So it's not like, oh, you installed Android 12, now you have double taps. But they also that was also one of the things that we that we were unhappy with in the Android 11 version was that it was all too easy to accident or to like you just set your phone down and it comes up as a double tap and you're like, no, I didn't want the assistant wear now. Or we've learned that the. That there's going to be an adjustability to it, that you can choose to ignore softer taps and have it only have it only registered with a firm double tap. Abner [00:35:54] Hmm, yeah, yeah, so, yeah, that's I think that would be a delightful feature when Android 12 comes, if all goes according to plan. Android Beta Feedback app gets update Abner [00:36:08] When speaking of plans, it's February last year. Google, where we stand with you, Evan, the developer preview this month that fast approaching the halfway point of this month. So I guess the smart money is that it's coming soon. We are doing on that team. He saw that the Android based the feedback app was updated last Friday after a few months of no updates. So that's a pretty good indication that Google is setting getting the roadmap out, getting the planning that needed to launch Android 12. So sooner than later seems like a pretty safe bet. Kyle [00:36:57] Could be next week. Could be not. Abner [00:36:59] Could be next week. Could be March. Who knows? The timing is always fluid on these things. Kyle [00:37:06] Yeah, because last year Nina was so early before covid hit. So there's potential that with things could be delayed a little bit this year by comparison to last year. Abner [00:37:20] Yeah. And again, it's still a very long time till the September, October. Abner [00:37:27] Well, it's usually August or September. The time frame for Google launches these things, but I don't think anybody would be surprised if covid related things delayed. Something as big as the next version of Android. In a nutshell: Podcast Transcription is essential to good PR. This article covers three means of getting it done. You can do it yourself, with some simple tools. You can hire a freelancer. You can try a service. This article will also discuss the pros and cons, whys and hows, of a few different transcription services. We think of podcasting as a purely aural medium, but we ignore podcast transcription at our peril (not to sound like a character from I, Claudius). In all seriousness, if your podcast doesn't have transcripts, that's an awful lot of audience you're missing.“Wait a minute!” you say. “Transcripts are more time and money. How much do you expect me to invest in this podcasting thing? What's in it for me?”We've already talked about why you should use transcripts. It bears repeating, however: 11 million people in the UK and 10 million people in the US are d/Deaf or hard of hearing Many folks have auditory processing disorders Transcripts of your podcast episodes can boost your search engine optimization Transcripts are another avenue for more people to understand and engage with your content. In this article, we're not going to talk about why you want to invest the additional work or money into podcast transcription. We're going to talk about different methods or companies that you can use to get your podcasts transcribed, and in front of your audience.DIY Methods for Podcast TranscriptionIf your podcast is a scripted audio drama, you can certainly use that script. You can also sit down and type out your podcast's recording, word for word. If you're already a professional stenographer, this won't bother you too much. However, not many people have that skill set or patience.Dictation Software HackAnother option for podcast transcription (recommended in a livestream by our friends at Music Radio Creative) is to use Google Docs voice typing. Here's how it works: Open up Chrome (you have to use Google's Chrome browser, otherwise the tool isn't available) Go to Google Docs and open a fresh document Click on Tools and select Voice Typing from the drop-down menu. A nifty little icon of a microphone will appear. At the top of the microphone, select your language. Open up your DAW and start playing the sound file you want transcribed. Click the little microphone icon. It'll change colors. As the microphone picks up the dialogue, the text will appear on screen. When you try this, make sure that the audio is cued up at the point where you want it transcribed. if you let it run through a minute of intro music or so, the voice typing tool won't recognize the music as anything useful, and will shut itself off.Google's Voice Typing was pretty good at recognizing what I said when I tried it. To test its accuracy, I selected UK English, US English, and Nigerian English, to see if there would be differences in the resulting text. There wasn't.You'll end up with pages and pages of unpunctuated text. It's very stream-of-consciousness. You will have to go through it and format it, put in punctuation and check for errors. However, it saves you a lot of time over typing the audio word for word.There's a quality control issue here, as well. You may notice as you're making this podcast transcript, that you notice the dialogue as an outsider. Transcribing the podcast yourself will help you see the details of what you talk about, and how.Video CaptionsAnother DIY method is to use your audio to make a video, upload it to YouTube, and use its closed captioning to provide a transcript. I can't vouch for the accuracy of YouTube's closed captioning. Joe Rogan uses this exclusively, and it works for him. Your mileage may vary.Headliner is a free app which can be used to make audiograms (and it's fun to use). It's 100% worth your time to try it out, and see how its captioning system fits your podcast.Think about your SEO for a second. Google's Product Manager for Google, Brad Ellis, spoke about automatic captioning and SEO at the Streaming Media Conference in 2016. He said that when a YouTube user uploads their own captions, Google does index them. But, because the automatic transcriptions are error-prone, they are not indexed. Granted, this was four years ago, and the technology may have changed. For now, if your SEO is your most important reason for having transcripts, it's best not to rely on YouTube's automatic captioning only.Many people consume their podcasts via YouTube. It's not a bad idea to make them available there with captions. But it shouldn't be your only way of publishing those transcripts.Outsourcing Podcast TranscriptionIf you don't want to do the transcription yourself, you have a few options. They are: Humans (having someone else do it for you) Artificial Intelligence (a software does it) A combination of both Human TranscriptionThis is the most accurate version of podcast transcription that you can use. Humans can understand context and spoken sound in a way that machines can't. If your podcast uses the sentence, “Let's eat Grandma,” a human would know where to put the comma, while a machine might not. It's also not cheap. Some transcribers charge by how long it takes them to do the work, others by how much audio you supply. In most cases, it's between $1-$2 per minute of transcribed audio. If you look at a site like Upwork or fiverr.com, you can find a fair number of freelance transcribers.GoTranscript offers “100% Human-Generated Transcription Services,” and offer a minimum of 6-hour turnaround time. Their prices vary by how soon you need your podcast transcript finished, and how long your audio files are. Expect to spend around 80 cents to $2 per minute.If you have a loyal fan or close friend who loves your podcast, you may be able to get them to volunteer to transcribe your podcast in a skill swap. Ask them if they would transcribe an episode or two of your podcast in exchange for helping them move house.Artificial IntelligenceIf you've ever asked Siri to send a text message for you, or if you've asked Google to look something up, you've used something like one of these services.Trint offers monthly or annual subscription packages ($60-$85), with a 7-day free trial. They range by the amount of files you can upload per month, and how many users you can have on the account. However, since a file can be any duration, the starter package would fit most indie podcasters, if you organize your audio files well. Trint also has an iPhone app.Temi is very similar, with one price tier: 25 cents a minute. Their free trial provides one transcript, of a 45 minute audio file. Their free demo not only shows you how it transcribes a news piece with multiple speakers and accents, but also will let you practice editing the piece to test the interface. This free demo is 100% worth your time to look at, because it can show you good transcript layout.Descript offers a free trial for the first 3 hours of speech uploaded. After that, the service is $14-18 a month. They say that they can turn around a 60-minute sound file in about three minutes.Sonix is another quick and inexpensive podcast transcription service. The Standard package is $10 per hour of uploaded audio. The Premium tier is $5 per hour and $22 per user, per month. Sonix provides transcription in multiple languages, even at the Standard level. Their free trial includes 30 minutes of transcription service.Artificial and Human IntelligenceThese services use a combination of AI transcription, with a human checking for accuracy and consistency.Scribie offers a pay-as-you-go system, either fully automated for ten cents a minute, or eighty cents a minute for automated transcription with a human editor. They add on an extra fifty cents if your audio is poor, noisy (speaker isn't distinct from the background), or for “accented speakers.” They say that it's fifty cents a minute for American speakers. This makes me want to send them a sound file in an accent so Philly, it sounds like I live underneath the Market Frankford El. An integrated editor lets you make changes if necessary.Rev.com might be the most well-known podcast transcription service; it was included on Forbes' AI 50 list. Its automated transcription costs 25 cents a minute, with a 5 minute turnaround time. Their human transcription service is $1.25 a minute, with a 12-hour turnaround time. They can even create foreign subtitles for video, for $3-$7 per minute. Some podcast hosting services (such as Castos) include transcriptions using Rev.com for an additional fee.Podcast Transcription: SummaryYour podcast transcript can build and sustain your audience. It can bolster your SEO, and make your content more meaningful to others. Remember, audio transcription services in general rely on people who need work-from-home jobs, such as disabled people or caregivers. Not only are they working on your podcast transcription, they can be working on medical lectures, court documents, emergency calls, things that are high-stakes, taxing, boring, or disturbing. The compensation for transcription workers is a controversial topic, one worth discussing on its own. Take this under consideration, when you're weighing price and turnaround time. It's probably the most ethical option to hire an individual freelancer, or barter a skills trade for podcast transcription with a trusted friend. Podcast show notes are one of those tasks that you KNOW is essential, but you can never bring yourself to doing it, or doing it properly. This may be, and probably is, because you've never been told how important they are to using the power of Google. This is day 26 of my 31 Day Podcast Challenge Podcast show notes are nothing more than a blog post with an audio file attached. And they're also so much more than that. Show notes serve three main purposesThe first two serve existing listeners: 1 - To offer a summary of the episode's content – to persuade someone to listen, to remind a previous listener what was covered, and to offer easy reminders about what the episode is about to share with their friends, your potential new listeners. 2 - To offer links to resources, people or products that were mentioned. The last serves you, and those who have yet to listen: 3 - To attract new listeners through search traffic. That last one is the one most podcasters neglect, and is the most important part of creating great show notes. Many podcasters write up show notes that are nothing more than a very quick introduction paragraph, and then a list of the resources that were mentioned. That just serves your listener, covering #1 and #2. But, if that's all you do, you're missing an opportunity to grow your audience. A good set of show notes can attract potential new listeners when they appear in search results. How do you do that? Write a blog post that covers the same topic as the podcastThat blog post is a written version of the show. Not necessarily a direct transcript, but something created to be read. A transcript can be used to help write the blog, to help find specific details or “pull quotes” you need to include in the blog. It contains the same valuable information as the podcast, and encourages readers: “If you liked this, then listen to the podcast episode for even more.” Some people just can't find the time to do full blog-post style show notes every week. An alternative is to keep them short and forget about the search engine benefits. Just do a 50 word intro paragraph and then some resource links and related descriptions. Keep in mind, the long blog-post style format offers a lot more value in terms of content marketing. The show notes, acting like blog articles, will start to gain traffic. They're much more likely to be found and indexed in search results. As I like to say, you're giving each episode as much “Google juice” as you can. Can transcripts make great show notes?If you're short on time, it's worth considering transcriptions. You can pay around $1 per minute to have a full transcription done of any show. As a bonus, they provide search engine friendly content for your website with little extra time effort. Just a bit of cost. Beware though, the spoken word, especially unscripted or without an outline, often doesn't transcribe well. Unedited transcriptions can often be long and rambling. Most transcription services offer an additional charge to “clean” up your transcription so it's in better shape to use, or edit further for your own use as you see fit. If you don't have the time, or simply don't want to do your own podcast show notes, then you might want to outsource them altogether. Jeff Kofman, an Emmy award-winning journalist and former war correspondent, thinks that AI might help solve the problem of disinformation if used rightly. Now CEO and co-Founder at Trint, an AI-based transcription company, Jeff witnessed a number of issues plaguing journalists all converging at once: fewer resources, less time, and more disinformation. Jeff believes that by shortening the time to access information for reporters (and the public) - and eventually leveraging AI to help people ID relevant parts of manuscripts - the war against disinformation campaigns is more easily fought. Jeff has lived the workflow that Trint is transforming. In more than three decades as a reporter, foreign correspondent, and war correspondent, he estimates he has manually transcribed thousands of hours of interviews, speeches, lectures, and news conferences. Trint goes beyond automated transcription to provide the world's most innovative and collaborative platform for searching, editing, and getting the most out of your content. But I wanted to learn more about the story behind the company. The idea for Trint was first hatched at the Mozilla Festival in London, an annual coding conference in London that showcases cutting-edge media innovation. It was November 2013; Mark Panaghiston, Mark Boas and Laurian Gridinoc were previewing a prototype of software that linked manually transcribed text to its source audio. It was a new concept in both audio and transcription: they found a way to glue a piece of text on the screen to its source audio file, stitching each word of a transcript to the exact time that word was spoken. The trio of developers was introduced to Jeff Kofman. Jeff was still working as ABC News London Correspondent but he was also teaching a university course on 21st century journalism, which was why he was attending Mozfest. He immediately took an interest in the technology the team was demonstrating. Jeff asked Laurian if automated speech-to-text could be added to the software along with some way of correcting the machine-generated errors. If so, they could turn the world of tedious, time-consuming, and costly manual transcription on its head. "It's an interesting idea," said Laurian. "We could try it." "I felt like I was looking at the future," Jeff remembers. "It was a real light bulb moment. I remember saying to the guys, 'This is what the future is going to look like. We can get together and see if we can make it work, or we go our separate ways and one day a few years from now one of us will walk into a coffee shop and see someone working on a platform like this that automates transcription.'" That chance encounter began a journey into entrepreneurship, invention, and the world of startups.

This makes sense because video will keep our attention on a single platform and post longer. Due to this prolonged attention Facebook is prioritizing video, meaning that video posts are more likely to be seen by your audience. Viewers retain more of the message when watching a video compared to text. Even if the retention rate is only an extra 50%, this still means that your audience is still means that your audience is still capturing more of your message when you put it out in video form than when you use a text and image combo. Add captions. A high percentage of videos on social media are viewed without sound. By adding captions you allow this large portion of your audience to still engage with you content. Here's what caught my attention from chatting with Moz's Rand Fishkin: Getting on page 1 of Google is not magic and any business can do it - As Rand says, it's an art and a science. Yes, there is some work to be done, yes it does get detailed, and yes it gets a little geeky. But why go to the trouble of creating a website full of helpful content, whether that be podcast show notes, blog posts or whatever, if you don't optimise it for Google. My advice is to understand then outsource this component. The embedded Tweet - What a great idea. You have to do this retrospectively, once the podcast show notes go live, but that's cool. Here's one I prepared earlier … go on, go ahead and Tweet it … you know you want to :) Links to external resources - When you recommend a great third party service, it builds trust in you as the place to go. Such links are not ‘doors out' of your website. Just be sure to have the links open in a new tab. If your content marketing strategy is missing one or more pillars, then you're destined for mediocre results. When you get all three pillars to your content marketing strategy working, liking to each other and growing, you are able to create a web of high authority content that can elevate your marketing results with minimal energy turning your wordpress site into an authority site. This is key to a successful internet marketing campaign. Content marketing positions you as a niche expert to your customer avatar and also helps your visitors get to know you, like you and trust you so when you do offer your opt in or products, the likelihood of them converting goes up significantly. This is a powerful inbound marketing strategy as described in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVt2YzdzYVs You are also able to leverage the brand value of the different platforms when you are displayed as a relevant search result and the shelf-life of content focused on these three pillars are infinitely greater than only focusing on social media marketing. You can also retarget your visitors with Facebook advertising once they visit your site if you have your Facebook tracking pixel installed and get a much better cost per click and cost per lead vs. cold marketing, as explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgJ6g3hjD_4 The three pillars are video marketing on YouTube, audio on Podcasts or written word on your WordPress blog. The first step is to figure out which pillar is going to be your content generation pillar. This pillar needs to fit your personality and DNA... Meaning if you are a comfortable and confident writer, use that! For me, writing is a total pain in the neck, and I'm comfortable speaking on camera, so video is my content generation pillar. After you have decided on how you want to generate content moving forward, you need to commit to taking massive action... This video shows the power and results from consistent action taken over time in this fashion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOuAMtTxE6k It is important to keep in mind Search Engine Optimization at every step... For video marketing, you should optimize each one for YouTube SEO before publishing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffkxuvFAE2k For your wordpress blog posts, each one needs to be optimized for search on Google: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu5lo2_WC1c This is why I recommend you spend enough time mastering the first content marketing pillar before moving on to the next. You need to be sure you are maximizing your efforts on each of these and this is best taken in steps. Then, decide on what the next easiest pillar to add on will be for you... If you are writing long form blog posts, your next step is to get a spoken .mp3 of the content. You can find someone on Fiverr to do this for you for cheap! Many Fiverr providers will not only speak out the track but will make it into a full video for you so you can publish it straight to YouTube. This concludes your second pillar. Third, in this scenario would be to publish the mp3 file separately to a podcast hosting site like Libsyn or SoundCloud and create a podcast with your audio content. For podcasting, you will want to 'drip out' your audio files on a launch schedule like we discussed in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsFvfJvADfE When podcasting is not your content generation pillar, I believe it is best saved for last... Focusing on YouTube and your WordPress blog as the first two pillars of your content marketing strategy. This is because you may not want every post/video to be an episode (exactly what I'm doing) so you may need a larger queue of content to pull from in order to get a consistent publishing schedule once you start. Another important thing to keep in mind about your content marketing efforts... You don't have to get this all up and running at the same time. As I explained in this video, it took me several months to find and work with my writer who is turning my videos into written content (with the help of Trint)... And now, over 6 months into content creation, I am just barely getting started launching my podcast. The whole theory here is to get all you can out of everything you create... Mainly focusing on the platforms and locations that will get you the longest shelf life for your efforts. Once you have this strategy in place, you can move onto the concept of content syndication, which can leverage paid traffic and social media marketing to get even more reach for your content and your video marketing efforts.

I like to talk about a lot of different things on this podcast including technology, venture capital, how businesses and industries arise to solve problems and address needs. It will allow your business expand its reach. It will help you increase your influence in the market. 5 Ways to repurpose your podcast episodes and convert it to other forms of content and deliver awesome value to a wider audience Convert your content to a downloadable PDF - You can use Beacon.dy. If they find your content valuable and interesting, they love to own a piece of that content in the form of a PDF. It works like this: When your audience arrives at a specific podcast episode on your website and likes the content, then up comes a popup appears asking for their email, in exchange for a downloadable PDF — a fair exchange of value. You build your email list and they get something valuable to take away. Transcribe your podcast - You can use Rev.com or Trint.com. This is a good way to repurpose your podcast to a written form that can be included in your PDF download. (Note that Trint uses machine learning, so it isn't as accurate as Rev.) Create an Infographic - You can use Piktochart or Easel.ly for this. This actually gives people a different way to absorb your content. Infographics allow your audience to look at the content with a more 'lateral' perspective. Kinda like looking at a mindmap. Youtube - You can use Screenflow or Camtasia to turn the audio into video. There are different ways you can consider in doing this. One, you might want different images for every 5 seconds to make it more visually interesting. You could just have a static image for the whole episode but that's a bit boring for a viewer. That said, a lot of people do go to YouTube just to 'listen' to content rather than view it. Convert it to Blogpost - Make use of your transcript to break it down to a more easier to read content. Make sure you use good quality subheads to make the content scannable — think of your subheads as 'windows to the soul' of your content.
