Across my life that is one of the more terrifying phrases Jesus ever uttered, and that's why I take more time than in most of my shows to address the particularities. In the literary and historical context what did Jesus mean? What was he addressing? What was he saying about himself inside of those contexts? Why did he say such loud things? I also address the common pastoral take-away from these passages: our having enough faith. How much faith is enough? What is faith? What usually happens among Christians with application of this "faith to move mountains" phrase? In the show's cultural reflection I talk, again, about transhumanism. This time about how transhumanism is making inroads into culture and why some unspeakable eventualities lay on the threshold of history for us.

Between book bans, the movement for parental rights, the fight over cellphones, and budgets being slashed, life in a public school is stressful—and a fertile ground for comedy. Brian Jordan Alvarez created and stars in “English Teacher,” débuting this season on FX. Alvarez has been an actor for many years, with a role on the reboot of “Will & Grace,” among many others, but he burst into viral fame on TikTok with a goofy song about the virtues of sitting, sung in a strange accent. Suddenly everybody was talking about him—including the staff writer Vinson Cunningham, who spoke with Alvarez recently. The new show is a much more conventional kind of social comedy, focussed on a gay Latino English teacher in Texas. “Evan wants to be, and is, in so many ways, essentially an out, proud gay guy,” Alvarez explained to Cunningham. “But how does that feel in this school with all these different forces coming at him?”

New "Kahnversations" Podcast with Actor Todd Stashwick!     In this special, post Comi-Con installation of "Kahnversations," we interview Todd Stashwick, star of Syfy Channel's 12 MONKEYS. Todd’s first professional dream was realized at a young age when he was hired to tour the country with Chicago’s famous The Second City. Following productions at The Second City Detroit and The Second City Northwest, Todd moved to New York. There, he formed a company of improvisers and began staging the underground critically acclaimed BURN MANHATTAN all over the city. Other performers often included Kate Walsh and Jeremy Piven. Work in television and film drew him to Los Angeles where he shot several pilots, series and recurring work. Todd has been seen in such films as the Blumhouse Thriller, MOCKINGBIRD; YOU, ME AND DUPREE; SURFER DUDE; THE AIR I BREATHE; and LIVE!. In addition, he starred in the independent film TO BE FRIENDS, written and directed by Jim Eckhart and produced by Aaron Eckhart, which opened The Boston Film Festival. He will soon be seen in JANE GOT A GUN opposite Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor. Most notably, Todd is known for his role as Dale in the FX series THE RICHES opposite Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard.
