Kim welcomes Claudia Lawrence, the visionary CEO and founder of Dinner Is Served in Ballina, New South Wales, Australia. As the debut guest of the Intuitive Leader Series, Claudia shares her unique journey leading an award-winning sustainable food business—blending intuitive decision-making, manifestation practices, and practical business strategy.Whether you're an established entrepreneur, an aspiring intuitive leader, or anyone craving fresh perspectives on business leadership, this episode delivers inspiration for navigating the ever-changing New Era of business.Episode HighlightsTrusting Intuition for Business SuccessClaudia dives deep into what it means to truly trust your intuition as a business leader. She shares personal stories about hiring, pivoting during staff changes, and knowing when it's time to move forward—emphasizing how she physically feels intuitive signals and the importance of honoring those instincts, even (and especially) in high-stakes moments.Manifesting Opportunities and Using Energetic SignaturesManifestation isn't just a buzzword for Claudia—it's a daily practice. She reveals how keeping the “how” out of manifestation, starting with small intentions, and building a track record of trust in the universe has helped her call in everything from the perfect business location to a fully electric kitchen. Claudia also discusses the Intuitive Success Quiz and explains how understanding both her own and her team's unique Signatures allows for harmonious, effective collaboration.Key Episode Quotes“There's nothing that I can't create or manifest. The faith comes from practicing and seeing it work—start small and build proof.”“It's a balance—the more you honor your intuition, the greater dividends it pays. But as a business owner, you also need to know your numbers and have a plan.”Key Questions Answered1. What practical steps did Claudia take to manifest major wins for her business?[12:09] Claudia shares that her manifestation process started simple—with intentions and daily affirmations written in a journal and expanding as evidence built. She discusses manifesting her ideal business location and securing solar panels, highlighting the importance of removing the “how” and letting the outcome unfold. “Each day in my journal, and each time we were setting intentions around the moon—solar panels, I'd like that... and I removed that ‘Well, how's that going to happen?'” 2. What advice does Claudia have for aspiring entrepreneurs and intuitive leaders?[34:59] Claudia emphasizes the need for balance: “I feel that when I built the kitchen and the space we're in, I relied too heavily on magic [...] but I didn't do my due diligence with the numbers.” She encourages combining practical business planning (knowing your numbers, backup plans) with intuition and manifestation. “It would be to make sure that you have a plan, create the vision in your mind and make it a big vision. [...] But make sure you understand your numbers.” Connect with Claudia Lawrence & Dinner Is Served!Website: https://dinnerisserved.com.au/Location: Ballina, New South Wales, just south of Byron Bay, AustraliaInstagram: @dinnerisservedauFind them locally: Search “Dinner Is Served” in Google Maps to visit their award-winning cafe or order ready meals in the Northern NSW region.Subscribe, Rate, and ReviewEnjoyed this episode? I remember sitting in the Mercury at the Adelaide Film Festival and watching Unspoken and getting to see a rare talent emerge on screen in the form of Kat Dominis. Her lead performance left me moved, shaken, and stunned by the depth of emotions she presented on screen. As the credits rolled, I saw she was the co-writer of this award-winning short film, a credit she shares with Mariana Rudan and director Damian Walshe-Howling. Unspoken is a story about family, it's a story about division, and it's a story built on intergenerational trauma.Kat plays Marina, a Croatian born young woman living with her family in 1979. She's in a secret relationship with a white Aussie man, with the two keeping the relationship hidden from her parents. Marina's brothers also live under the same house, with the two brothers falling into the political unrest that unfurls on the streets of Sydney in the form of protests and demonstrations. Acting as a thematic layer to Unspoken is the true story of the Croatian Six; six Croatian-Australian men who were sentenced to 15 years jail in 1981 for a conspiracy to bomb several sites in Sydney.Much of the evidence that was used in the trial of the Croatian Six was fabricated, with the men being set up as part of a sting operation by the Yugoslav foreign intelligence service. The weight of this event sits in the background of Unspoken, with tensions emerging throughout the film between family members, between Croatian-Australians and white Australians, and between girlfriend and boyfriend.Underpinning this tension is that stunning central performance from Kat Dominis who commands the screen with a guiding, lived-in understanding of the weight of her characters lives and the societal and political upheaval they're undergoing. As Marina, Kat presents the conflicted nature of wanting to fit in to a new culture while also trying to navigate the familial heritage of her homelands culture. In this regard, Unspoken becomes a universal story that many migrant families can relate to, especially from the frequently xenophobic landscape of Australian culture and society. These notions, and a lot more, are explored in this expansive interview with Kat Dominis, recorded ahead of Unspoken's screening at the St Kilda Film Festival on 7 June. Unspoken has screened nationally around Australia, and took home the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival earlier this year, a rare achievement for an Australian film. Less prestigious, but notable still, is that Unspoken featured in my personal Best Australian Films of 2024 list. It marks the grand arrival of actor-turned-director Damian Walshe-Howling, of producer and co-writer Mariana Rudan, and of course, Kat Dominis as actor, co-writer, and producer. It's a stunning filmic achievement.Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky @thecurbau. Please welcome to our show, my friend Marla Tellez, award-winning newscaster at Fox11 Los Angeles, who joins us to talk about career, personal struggles growing up, and becoming a mama a few months ago at the age of 48! Growing up, Marla said she never dreamed of becoming a news anchor or reporter. She had other ideas, but when the opportunity presented itself, she grabbed it and never turned back. Now, she anchors along side an incredible team at FoxLA that includes my friends Elex Michaelson and Christine Devine, arguably one of the best newscasts in town (of course I worked there, so I'm biased). Marla has an incredible story of her own, and wait until you hear it. Not an easy childhood, she worked hard to keep strong while navigating some pretty challenging hurdles, particularly with her dad. We'll ask her about that and what kept her going. Marla is also a runner, which not only keeps her sane, but also fit. Now 49, she had her first baby just a few months ago - Sloane - and I'm so in love with this little girl. We'll talk about the challenges of pregnancy at a certain age, and how she and her husband are managing, because soon, Marla will be back at work, and we'll talk about the challenges we all face as new moms. And I had some advice for her! Please find our interview on all video and audio podcast platforms of #DeborahKobyltLIVE. I'm your host, #DeborahZaraKobylt, and it's my pleasure to welcome you here.
Partnered with a Survivor: David Mandel and Ruth Stearns Mandel
Send us a textWhen Kelly Daley, Community Connection Practitioner at Upper Murray Family Care, stood to accept her Champion Award for case practice in the Asia Pacific region, she was not just celebrating professional achievement—she was honoring a deeply personal journey of healing and transformation. Working across three agencies to implement the Safe & Together Model framework with children and young people affected by violence, Kelly has pioneered practice that shifts focus from managing children's behaviors to holding perpetrators as parents accountable for the trauma they've caused.”It healed broken bits of me that I had no idea were broken,” Kelly shares about her own experience with the Safe & Together Model, revealing how recognizing her strength as a survivor now drives her passion for partnering with others. This personal connection infuses her work with authenticity and purpose as she helps both survivors and practitioners navigate complex family violence situations. What makes Kelly's approach revolutionary is her emphasis on documentation and collaborative practice. She demonstrates how properly documenting strengths, protective factors, and patterns of behavior transforms not just paperwork but actual outcomes for families. When child protection services can see a mother's protective efforts clearly recorded, they're more likely to hold perpetrators accountable rather than placing the burden on victims. This shift represents the Model's principles in action: partnering with survivors while keeping perpetrators in view.Kelly's implementation work addresses practitioner fears head-on through toolbox sessions, phased learning approaches, and supportive supervision. She recognizes that many professionals haven't been trained to engage with fathers at all—let alone those who use violence—creating a significant gap in family-centered services. By building practitioner confidence gradually, she ensures the model becomes embedded in everyday practice rather than dependent on her presence.Whether you're a practitioner seeking to improve your approach to family violence or a survivor looking for hope, Kelly's journey illuminates what's possible when we truly partner with survivors while keeping perpetrators in view. Olivia had a secret—and not the bad kind. This week on A Fresh Story, she shares a joyful surprise: after quietly enrolling in and completing a certification, she's now a certified divorce coach. For someone who's spent years writing about divorce, supporting others through it, and building an entire support ecosystem, it wasn't about adding another title. It was about taking responsibility for her words and the people who read them. What started as a quiet spark during meditation became a proud milestone, made even sweeter by the sisterly reveal.Meanwhile, Genevieve battles a broken washing machine in a rental that seems to fight back at every turn, shedding light on the invisible emotional labor of tenants everywhere. Her story isn't just about appliances or landlords—it's about boundaries, burnout, and the frustrating gray area between dependence and control. But even amid chaos, she finds joy in small rituals: a new bathing suit, the return of lap swimming, the soft power of reclaiming personal style. This week's episode is a celebration of progress—messy, nonlinear, but beautiful. Olivia and Genevieve share music, routines, and reflections on the sacred act of feeling good in your skin. With honest laughter, a few “I told you so”s, and a new podcast award under their belt, the sisters remind us that wisdom lives in the little things—and that you're never too busy (or too tired) to grow.

What happens when you follow your heart's calling but the path looks nothing like you expected? Dr. BethAnn Kapansky-Wright takes us deep into the wilderness of uncertainty where dreams and visions truly take form.Drawing from her personal journey that began on Memorial Day 2016, Dr. Bethann shares the soul-shifting decision to leave her established psychology practice in Alaska and relocate to Kauai following her brother's passing. This wasn't merely a change of scenery but a radical leap of faith that challenged her expectations about how spiritual callings should unfold."I expected specifics, concrete, a blueprint," she reveals, describing the frustration of seeking stability while simultaneously craving expansion. Instead of receiving clear instructions for her new life path, she discovered something far more valuable—that the questions, confusion, and surrendering were essential components of the vision itself. For anyone struggling with dreams that aren't manifesting as planned or visions that seem stuck in limbo, this episode offers profound wisdom about divine timing and the magic that awaits when we release our grip on certainty. The most transformative journeys often require us to trust the process and find wonder in not knowing exactly where we're going to land.Ready to transform your relationship with uncertainty? Chloe O'Loughlin, a 2nd year student in St. Patrick's Comprehensive School in Shannon, won the Junior category award at the Technovation Ireland Regional Pitch Event (RPE) in AMD's Headquarters, CityWest, Dublin. Chloe has been working on an app to help people with dementia since she started the Teen-Turn after-school program in January. Twelve weeks of mentoring and support led to the big event, with Chloe winning the Junior category. 65 projects from 8 counties and more than 20 schools were submitted to Technovation from Ireland this year. Chloe will now represent Ireland in the semi-finals of the global competition. This project was particularly personal to Chloe who had a dream to help people suffering with dementia in a simple and easy way. She said: 'I have relatives with dementia. I see firsthand the effects that it has on them. I wanted to think of something that would help them.' It was this initial thought that led her to create and develop her app called Brain Track. "The app features a to-do list, calendar, to keep track of different appointments and allows relatives and caregivers to keep an eye on them." An additional feature of the app is a profile page where the user or their relatives can input profiles of the people around them including photos and key details about that person. Chloe believes that to be a very important feature for the wellbeing of the person with dementia and a reassurance to their loved ones. "If someone with dementia were to forget someone's name, they can go into the app and remind themselves of their name, which would save them the frustration of having to ask the person directly." Chloe committed to 12 weeks of staying after school with more than 10 other girls in the group to learn to code, develop a business plan and pitch to judges. Her mentor Donna O'Sullivan, who is also a teacher at the school, applauded Chloe for her commitment and dedication to the project and app. "Chloe has shown tremendous dedication and commitment to attending our Teen-Turn sessions after school each week and made superb progress during that time. We are so proud of what she has achieved and grateful to Teen-Turn for their continued support in developing tech skills for our girls." Chloe really enjoyed participating in Teen-Turn's afterschool program and said, "I really enjoyed working with everyone in the group. We got tons of different ideas and opinions when putting it all together, and it's great to see how the other projects were coming along." Chloe also benefited from extra sessions held by Teen-Turn over the midterm in partnership with PayPal and on two Super Session Saturdays, where the girls had the opportunity to gain in-person mentorship at the University of Limerick from academic staff and Immersive Software Engineering students. On the day of the RPE Chloe said that she was a little apprehensive to pitch to the judges but that she found the experience to be a very powerful one. "I was very nervous, but the judges were really nice and once I started, I was more excited than nervous. They genuinely wanted to find out more about the app and how it works." Chloe was overjoyed to take first place on the day, winning a laptop with AMD chip technology, and is looking forward to the next stage of the competition. So what does the future hold for Chloe and Brain Track? I definitely want to continue with Teen-Turn and with Project Squad and Technovation in the future because I really enjoyed it.' says Chloe who is very excited at the thought of possibly bringing the app to the market in the future. "I think the app will help people and I want to continue improving it." Chloe hopes that she can make the future a little brighter for those with dementia and their loved ones. Welcome to Season 5, Episode 20! The Titanic sank over 110 years ago, but people are still fascinated with the disaster. This is especially true when there are new stories that come out about The RMS Titanic that are relatable or pique our curiosity. Hearing about the eight Chinese nationals who were on the Titanic as passengers and the six who survived is one of those moments where we learned something new, and we felt that we could relate to the story. But we wouldn't have known about this obscure bit of ignored history without the work of our guest, Steven Schwankert. Steven is an award-winning editor and author who seeks adventure and truth. His work researching and writing about the eight Chinese nationals and six survivors of the RMS Titanic resulted in both a documentary (completed by his creative partner Arthur Jones) as well as a new non-fiction book (completed by him)… both entitled The Six. In our conversation with Steven, we discuss his process of research, some of the narratives that came out of their discoveries, the treatment of the Chinese nationals who survived the disaster, the experience of providing closure for living relatives of these Chinese Nationals, seeking truth, and so much more. The Six book and documentary were both really informative engaging. If you like what we do, please share, follow, and like us in your podcast directory of choice or on Instagram @AAHistory101. We have loved Franco's art longer than we knew the term "paleoart". He joins to explain his process of illustrating for books–including ours. His piece “T. rex couple vs. Dakotaraptor pack” won the 2016 John J. Lanzendorf-National Geographic PaleoArt Prize. He compares the scene to lions defending a kill from hyenas, highlighting the possible social dynamics between top predators and opportunistic rivals. Somehow, against all the odds, CheapShow has finally won something! Paul & Eli are in high spirits this week as they celebrate their recent “Golden Lobes” podcast awards win! It was a fantastic moment that was only 10 years in the making. This success probably won't go to their heads. At all. It's a bit of a wordy episode this week, as Paul is supplying two books for his “Page Turners” segment. His charity shop discoveries involve one book based on the kids TV show “Bangers & Mash”, and the other is a story puzzle book from the legendary “Usbourne Publishing”. The Cheap Chaps dive into them both to learn more, and if you are lucky, you'll get some story time action from Eli himself! Finally, Gannon pulls out another “Golden Game” to play. For this edition, he's brought along an electronic game based on the popular 1980s ITV game show “Name That Tune”. Sadly, as in most episodes, Eli will find a way to ruin the fun. Whether that's by pretending to be a Scouser or by simply opening his mouth and letting the madness spill out. No matter how dumb or gross this week's podcast is, remember it won a ruddy award! Unbelievable!
