Chris makes a passionate case for why Elon Musk should be president, praising his relentless dedication to America's future. Highlighting Musk's efforts to combat government waste, reduce the national debt, and prioritize fiscal responsibility, Markowski emphasizes how Musk is donating his own time and resources for the greater good. He contrasts Musk's contributions to past philanthropists like Carnegie and Langone, arguing that Musk's impact could genuinely save the country. www.watchdogonwallstreet.com

Titres :- This Hammer, Spencer Davis Group- Electricity, Woody Guthrie- Working on the Highway, Bruce Springsteen- The Midnight Special, Creedance Clearwater Revival.

I'm Stacey Simms and these are the top diabetes stories and headlines happening now XX In the news is brought to you by VIVI Cap – confidence on the go that keeps your insulin protected in hot or cold XX Learning a bit more about the Tidepool pump partnership, at least who it won't be. When Tidepool Loop approval was announced last month, it came without the original pump partners, Omnipod and Medtronic. CEO Howard Look said they do have a pump partner but that they're not ready to announced yet. I spoke to Tandem for next week's episode and they say its' not them. Quote “That's not part of our roadmap, it's not an integration we're working on.” XX Insulet announces it will discontinue the original Omnipod system. In a letter to healthcare professionals, the company says the system, referred to as Eros or Omnipod Classic will be discontinued at the end of this year. It's no longer available to new patients and existing customers will be transitioned to Dash or Omnipod 5. I'll link up the letter in the show notes. “Dear healthcare professionals, We have made the decision to discontinue the original omnipod insulin management system in the us after December 31 2023. This system is often referred to omnipod eros or omnipod classic. Insulet will continue to support the omnipod system throughout this year to allow existing patients ample time to transition to newer omnipod technology such as Omnipod dash or Omnipod 5. please note this product is no longer available for new patients in the US. After December 31, 2023 Insulet will not be able to guarantee the availability of the omnipod system supplies. “ https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10225188520677483&set=a.1253748061199 XX Civica continues to move ahead with more affordable insulin, announcing that Ypsomed will make and supply their pens. Civica plans to produce three insulin biosimilars priced at no more than $30 per vial and no more than $55 for a box of five pen cartridges. Contingent on FDA approval, Civica anticipates that its insulins will be available for purchase beginning as soon as 2024. XX New study shows screening kids at risk for type 1 diabetes only once – at age ten – is very effective in detecting the condition by the age of 18. These researchers also say “Almost no one” who is islet autoantibody negative at age 10 years despite a high familial risk for type 1 diabetes will develop clinical diabetes by the age of 18. Full study published in the Lancet. https://www.medwirenews.com/diabetes/age-10-years-optimal-type-1-diabetes-screening-point/23957596 https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanchi/article/PIIS2352-4642(22)00350-9/fulltext?fbclid=IwAR2kRNyGg6lnq3ZWsFkXnCvkeNiisg9mE2bbN_OnGiLrUpcHKXAaff3OkE4 XX The nonprofit public health advocacy group the Physicians Committee issued a formal complaint that a recent CBS "60 Minutes" segment was a promotion for Novo Nordisk's obesity drug, Wegovy, that was dressed up as a news segment. The Washington, D.C.-based group has filed a complaint with federal bodies alleging that the CBS "60 Minutes" segment that aired on New Year's Day breached the FDA's “fair balance” rules for drug ads. The Committee said in a release that the feature failed to talk about alternatives to the drug or about other weight-loss methods; that only experts “paid by Novo” were used in the program; and that the piece used overly promotional language. This has caused Wegovy supply issues for Novo which, coupled with manufacturing problems, only deepened bumps in production last year for the drug and led to an official shortage of the drug in 2022. A spokesperson for Novo Nordisk told Fierce Pharma Marketing: “Novo Nordisk did not provide any payment or sponsorship to CBS 60 Minutes for their reporting on obesity as part of a news segment that aired on January 1, 2023, and we did not control any of the content or have any role in identifying or selecting the doctors and patients featured in the news segment.” https://www.fiercepharma.com/marketing/health-group-lambasts-novo-nordisk-60-minutes-paid-news-program-weight-loss-med-wegovy XX Some researchers have pulled out of a trial investigating the use of an old tuberculosis vaccine to treat children with Type 1 diabetes only months after they began enrolling participants. This is part of the Faustman study of the BCG vaccine. Some recent research suggests that the vaccine, first administered in 1921, also may protect against Covid-19 and respiratory diseases because of its broad effects on the immune system. The lead investigators of the pediatric trial are proceeding with the study, but N.Y.U. Langone's abrupt withdrawal could potentially jeopardize its viability if they are unable to collect data on the children at the N.Y.U. site. An earlier study by the scientists at Massachusetts General found that two doses of B.C.G. vaccine reduced blood sugar levels to near normal in a very small group of adults with Type 1 diabetes. Other studies of B.C.G., using different versions of the vaccine and following Type 1 diabetes subjects for varying periods of time, have yielded mixed results. The lead investigator of the trial, Dr. Denise Faustman, director of the immunobiology laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital, said that N.Y.U.'s withdrawal was a serious deviation from trial protocol that may call into question the final results. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/20/health/diabetes-bcg-nyu.html XX A new smart insulin pen sensor can also be used to track dosing of GLP-1 medications. Brand names for GLP-1 medications include Trulicity and Ozempic. This device, called Mallya, attaches to the injector and connects it to a mobile app. It's already cleared in Europe and should be available in the US in the next few months. The device is compatible with most popular insulin pens, including Lilly's Kwikpen, Sanofi's Solostar, and the Novo Nordisk FlexPen. Biocorp also announced that it has partnered with Novo Nordisk, Sanofi, and Roche Diabetes Care to improve Mallya's current design moving forward. According to the Mallya website, the device's lifespan is two years before a replacement is needed, and in no way does it change the way that users operate their insulin pen. The device can be charged via USB and, with average use of three to four injections per day, requires charging once a month. Also, for those who have different pens for multiple types of insulin, the app can connect multiple Mallya devices, one for basal insulin and another for bolus, for instance. https://diatribe.org/fda-clears-smart-injector-pen-device-mallya XX Tempramed/ VIVI Cap XX New features popped up this week in the latest version of The Sims – after an update, players can opt for their characters to wear a CGM – Libre or Dexcom Freestyle Libre in the Sims 4 game. Search for CGM or Libre XX The Jonas Brothers officially have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On Monday, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas were honored during a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard where their careers as musicians were celebrated. Their star was dedicated in the category of Recording and the trio was introduced by Monte and Avery Lipman of Republic Records, Ryan Tedder and writer and producer Jon Bellion. While the brothers still maintain their own separate projects -- Nick Jonas is set to produce and star in the upcoming film "Foreign Relations," Joe Jonas recently starred in the film "Devotion," and Kevin Jonas hosts the ABC series "Claim to Fame" -- they continue to make music together and are slated to release new songs this year. The group closed out Monday's ceremony by announcing big news about their upcoming new album, which will be released in May. They also said they'll be going on tour again. XX On the podcast next week.. Tandem Diabetes with an update on their road map announced last year. They've since acquired a patch pump company and one that makes infusion sets. A lot to catch up on! This past week's long format episode is with Tidepool Loop, a deep dive into what was approved with CEO Howard Look That's In the News for this week.. if you like it, please share it! What happened next was the JCCA foster agency in NY. Their mission statement: "Repair the World, Child by Child," Dari disagrees with this and says it is more like destroy the world, child by child. They never intended on reunifying her daughter with herself, but instead conspired with the ACS (CPS) and Family court to keep her daughter away from her family.     It is dumbfounding how the Family Court Judge, Judge Jacqueline Deane did not do the right thing and wrote a decision filled with lies and half-truths while allowing Dari's daughter to be absconded with by the foster couple to Florida. Was this a set-up?   Dari talked about how her other daughter is going down to Florida next month. In the last podcast the Police Officers went to the house where Rhiannon is staying and were told, "Rhiannon is out living her life." Recovery is never a straight line. Things we do to comfort ourselves can create the most uncomfortable outcomes. But us humans can overcome even the most difficult situations and with good bones we can reanimate the animal within. Welcome to episode one seventy eight of Above Ground Podcast. This week we are joined by Mike Langone. Mike is the singer for Nippertown based band Black Belt Jones, the promoter of Upstate Punk Rock Flea Market and the bone artist behind Odds, Sweet Things and Dead Ends. "You can't focus so much on why, it's more like how I can make things better", says Langone about his struggles with addiction. Langone made his way to Nippertown via the Lower East Side of Manhattan more than twenty years ago.  Langone took his experience and turned it into a career. First as a CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) and now as a Housing Specialist for an Albany, NY based non-profit who helps the homeless population.  Langone expresses how much his life has changed from living the life of an addict. His vulnerability and choosing to live has provided him a way to stay busy as an artist of the living and the dead.  https://blackbeltjones.bandcamp.com/album/ep https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrzNMmkBJSw https://www.facebook.com/people/Upstate-Punk-Rock-Flea-Market/100076174182021/ https://www.facebook.com/people/Odds-Sweet-Things-And-Dead-Ends/100045470088401/ https://www.facebook.com/BlackBeltJonesAlbany Thanks for listening to this week's episode of Above Ground Podcast. Bunions and bone spurs and heel pain, oh my! Foot pain in all shapes and forms is extremely common and becomes more so as we enter the menopause transition and our estrogen declines, taking our collagen production with it, which impacts the dozens of joints and tendons in our feet. That's important because our feet are literally the foundation of nearly every physical activity we do. This week's guest, president of the American Association for Women Podiatrists, Dr. Karen Langone, helps us sort through the most common foot pains and stay strong on our feet. Karen Langone DPM specializes in sports and fitness medicine, including medical and biomechanical treatment of the foot, ankle and lower extremities caused by faulty foot mechanics. She is a board certified podiatrist in New York and a national lecturer. Dr Shae Datta, MD, is a Sports NeuroTrauma Neurologist and the current Director of Concussion & Neuro-Cognition at New York University, Langone. Dr Datta specializes in helping people heal from brain injuries, especially including traumatic brain injuries and concussion (also called mTBI = mild traumatic brain injury). In this incredible episode, we wind our way first through the anatomy and physiology of the central nervous system, meaning the brain, spinal cord and associated microglia, astrocytes, relay neurons and the glymphatic clearance system of the CNS. Dr Datta then illuminates an understanding of the gut-brain axis with a special focus on psychbiotics, naming some of the specific types of probiotics that impact mood, cognition and the nervous system. She notes, ‘unhappy gut = unhappy brain'. The show returns to prognosis after brain injury and that every head injury is a unique story and very dependent on functional level, age, stress, co-morbidities, prior TBI and history of migraines. She reviews a bit of the TBI evaluation, which, barring a bleed in the head visible on CT, can often present with subtle findings regarding balance and ocular or vision changes that can potentially reflect outsized cognitive, sensory and/or motor challenges. We end the show with an exploration of a wide variety of treatments, some common (physical and occupational therapy) and some unique to Dr Datta's integrative training: choline, creatine, vitamins and others. Learn more from Dr Datta from her co-authored chapter on TBI in the Integrative Neurology textbook in the Andrew Weil Series: https://www.elliottbaybook.com/book/9780190051617 To see Dr Datta as a patient, find her at NYU Langone: https://nyulangone.org/doctors/1720493141/shae-datta

America chooses to have a system that sanctions poverty. COVID relief proves the converse is possible. Sen. Warren has options. Ask PDR anything. ‘Poverty Is a Policy Choice': Study Projects Covid Aid Will Cut US Poverty Nearly in Half. “Eradicating poverty is not a utopian fantasy, it's a policy option.” A detailed analysis of the impact of federal economic relief programs enacted throughout the course of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic projects that the government aid will cut the poverty rate nearly in half this year—further evidence, according to observers, that poverty in the U.S. is a deliberate “policy choice.” Given the absolute onslaught of news we've experienced in recent months (if not recent years), it can feel like the presidential debates for the 2020 election happened a lifetime ago. Many of us here at Daily Kos recall the countless times Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren campaigned to tax the ultra-wealthy and tried her best to break down complicated tax systems and structures for the masses. As she displayed during an interview on Wednesday morning, Warren has not lost her touch. Warren appeared alongside billionaire Ken Langone on CNBC's Squawk Box, where Langone asked Warren why he, a billionaire, still receives social security checks, among other questions about taxes on the super-wealthy. When he finally gave Warren a moment to get a word in, she certainly delivered. Let's check out the exchange and footage below. --- If you like what we do please do the following! Artisti in mostra: 108 (Guido Bisagni), Nicola Biondani, Aurelio Bulzatti, Marcello Carrà, Andrea Chiesi, Marco Cingolani, Cuoghi Corsello, Vanni Cuoghi, Valentina D'Amaro, Gianluca Di Pasquale, Tamara Ferioli, Letizia Fornasieri, Moira Franco, Giovanni Frangi, Annalisa Fulvi, Massimiliano Galliani, Omar Galliani, Daniele Galliano, Gianfranco Goberti, Gabriele Grones, Ester Grossi, Giuliano Guatta, Federico Guida, Adelchi Riccardo Mantovani, Marco Mazzoni, Enrico Minguzzi, Elena Monzo, Luca Moscariello, Barbara Nahmad, Nicola Nannini, Nunzio Paci, Sergio Padovani, Carlo Alberto Rastelli, Enrico Robusti, Nicola Samorì, Marta Sesana, Riccardo Taiana, Wainer Vaccari, Nicola Verlato, Daniele Vezzani, Sergio Zanni, Luca Zarattini.IL POSTO DELLE PAROLEascoltare fa pensarehttps://ilpostodelleparole.it/

We begin today with an update on the situation in New York City. The metropolis leads the nation in the number of COVID-19 cases and daily fatalities, even as the United States leads the world, by far, in COVID-19 cases, according to the World Health Organization. Hospitals in New York City have had a bit of good news this week. There is, as of today, no shortage of ventilators, for example, and there are signs that the number of deaths in the Big Apple are leveling off. Each day, legions of health workers have been providing COVID patients with life-saving care — under conditions more difficult than most of them could have imagined. And there is a growing awareness that these critically important workers -- from physicians and nurses to technicians and operational staff – all face unique mental health stresses. At NYU/Langone Health, one of New York’s premier university hospital systems, psychiatrist Marra Ackerman directs the House Staff Mental Health Program, which is now providing an expanded array of psychiatric services to Langone’s beleaguered front-line health workers. Dr. Ackerman, who is normally based in Manhattan, joins Tom on the line from her remote home office in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Every once in a while I chat with somebody who makes me realize just how cool my job really is. That’s the case this week with Ken Langone, the legendary financier, who helped take a bunch of companies public before co-founding Home Depot. Ken has also became a philanthropist extraordinaire, helping to rebuild the New York University hospital. Ken dropped by for an in-studio to talk about his new book, I Love Capitalism!: An American Story, but really it was just a fascinating conversation with a guy who grew up in a working-class family on Long Island, put himself through school, and after some hard work and smart decisions and a few guardian angels, became one of the most successful businessmen in the country. Ken Langone has seen it all on his way to a net worth beyond his wildest dreams, now in excess of $3 billion dollars. In a series of captivating stories, Langone shows how he struggled in academics, broke into Wall Street, and scrambled for an MBA at night while competing with privileged competitors by day. He also shares how he learned to evaluate the value of a business and apply his street smarts to negotiate enormous deals. And what happened when Langone was approached by Bernie Madoff for an investment, just weeks before the Ponzi scheme came to light? You’ll have to tune in for that chestnut... Langone says that the book is his love song to capitalism..."Absolutely anybody is entitled to dream big, and absolutely everybody should dream big. I did. Show me where the silver spoon was in my mouth. I’ve got to argue profoundly and passionately: I’m the American Dream.” “Better Off” is sponsored by Betterment.
