It's been a hellish week for our Disunited Kingdom. First Tommy Robinson mobilised ten of thousands in his ‘Unite the Kingdom' march. Before we could recover from that toxic side show, the headline act arrived: President Trump. He was kept behind a ring of steel in Windsor where he enjoyed British brown nosing at its best from flatterers-in-chief, the Royal Family. What a state we're in. Coco and Nish reflect on what they learned about their fellow Brits this week and the conclusion is scary. But before they abandon hope there was another march. Thousands of ‘Stop Trump' protestors came out onto the streets of London - to hear from a range of the UK's loudest progressive voices, from Zarah Sultana, to Zack Polanski and Jeremy Corbyn. Two protests, two faces of Britain. Can we ever bridge the divide? Finally - to round off the show, an injection of hope. Josie Naughton CEO of charity ‘Choose Love' joins the pod to show us that there definitely is a way through this. On the final day of his visit to Britain, US president Donald Trump has been meeting the UK prime minister, Keir Starmer, in talks dominated by trade and business deals. The US president has also signed what the UK prime minister says is a "groundbreaking" technology partnership between the two countries. Also in the programme: Thousands more Palestinians are fleeing south in the Gaza Strip, but hundreds of thousands remain in Gaza City; and Australia, one of the world's biggest polluters per capita, will aim to cut its carbon emissions by at least 62% over the next decade.(Photo shows US president Donald Trump and UK prime minister Keir Starmer as they hold a press conference at Chequers on 18 September 2025. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Jessica Steinberg for today's episode. Magid discusses the draft of a developed proposal, formed by former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, regarding a transitional body for post-war Gaza. He notes that Israel is still engaging with this topic and that the proposal does not call for the displacement of Gazans. As security talks in the UK between Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Israel continue, Magid says an announcement could be within days, possibly coinciding with al-Sharaa's upcoming appearance at the United Nations. The long-running 'pay-to-slay' program for the Palestinian Authority that critics claimed incentivized terror attacks against Israelis is over, according to Magid, with a new program instituted to pay people based on economic need. There haven't been any payments yet as the PA is out of cash and relies on revenues that Israel collects on its behalf, which Israel has been withholding over various issues. After US Senator Bernie Sanders used the term genocide to refer to the ongoing war in Gaza, Magid discusses that Sanders has been one of the most vocal critics of Israel. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Tommy & Ben start with Gaza: the UN Human Rights Council's finding that Israel has committed genocide, and Israel's ground operation into Gaza City. They discuss how Marco Rubio signaled that Trump has given up on brokering a peace deal in Gaza, and why the Netanyahu government is telling the press that Trump is lying about his knowledge of the IDF airstrike in Qatar. Also covered: Kash Patel's combative Senate hearing about the rampant dysfunction at the FBI, the global reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk and the dark conspiracy theories that have emerged around it, the long-term harm to the US-South Korea relationship caused by the ICE raid on a Hyundai plant in Georgia, Nepal's democracy by Discord, Trump's UK state visit amid Jeffrey Epstein fallout and far-right protests, Trump's ultimatums to NATO, and Conor McGregor's aborted bid for the Irish presidency. Then, Tommy speaks to Tom Fletcher, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, about the humanitarian situations in Haiti, Sudan, and Gaza, the devastating effects of the gutting of USAID, and what's giving him hope right now. In this episode of The Wright Report, we cover the charging of Charlie Kirk's assassin, Trump's high-stakes trip to the UK, Germany's political and cultural reckoning, Denmark's Greenland pivot, and an unexpected health study on building muscle. From courtroom revelations to foreign policy clashes and even workout science, today's brief connects the dots shaping America's security and daily life. Charlie Kirk Assassin Formally Charged: Tyler Robinson faces aggravated murder charges with Utah prosecutors seeking the death penalty. Text messages revealed him telling his trans boyfriend, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it.” Robinson bragged about “engraving bullets” and retrieving his rifle from a “drop point.” Senator Mike Lee warned of possible Cuban and Iranian ties to Armed Queers Salt Lake City, while critics blasted ABC News for framing the texts as a “very intimate portrait.” Bryan warns, “This is bigger than one loner assassin… this is a puzzle piece that fits into a Leftist revolution.” Trump Visits the UK Amid Socialist Criticism: London Mayor Sadiq Khan attacked Trump as a xenophobe fanning “far-right politics,” even as King Charles prepared a lavish welcome. Trump will meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and may also meet Reform UK's Nigel Farage, a move described as “Make Great Britain Great Again.” Bryan says such a meeting would be “sweet revenge” after Labour staffers campaigned for Kamala Harris in U.S. swing states last year. Germany's Reckoning with AfD Surge: The populist AfD party won record support in western Germany as voters revolt over high energy prices, economic stagnation, and radical Islam. A spate of Islamist terror attacks and growing “no-go zones” in Berlin add to fears, while reports mock German workers as lazier than Greeks or Italians. One slacker told reporters, “There are other parts of life besides work, you know.” Denmark's Greenland Pivot: After Trump's pressure to secure Greenland, Denmark pledged $250 million for new runways, ports, and defenses against China and Russia. The timing of the announcement — as Trump landed in London — highlighted Denmark's attempt to appease U.S. demands without ceding sovereignty. Finland and Poland Revive Bog Defenses: Officials plan to restore swamps and peat bogs along Russian borders to bog down invading tanks, reviving a centuries-old defense strategy. Baltic nations may follow, though Germany dismissed the idea as too costly. Health Research on Muscle Building: Illinois researchers found that lean pork after workouts builds more muscle than fattier cuts, adding to past findings that whole eggs and fresh salmon outperform supplements. Bryan quips, “Get strong… you never know when a Leftist might come for you.” "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 Keywords: Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson charged, Utah death penalty, Armed Queers Salt Lake City Cuba Iran ties, ABC News Charlie Kirk texts coverage, Trump UK visit Sadiq Khan criticism, King Charles Windsor Castle Trump, Nigel Farage Reform UK meeting, Germany AfD populist surge, German worker laziness Washington Post, Germany Islamist terror Cologne rapes, Denmark Greenland $250 million defense, Finland Poland restore bogs Russia defense, Illinois lean pork muscle building study, whole eggs salmon workout protein

Discover how Eli Lilly's "European price matching" triggered panic buying, crashed pharmacy websites, and left patients spending over £1,000 to stockpile medications. Lindsey examines the real-world impact, even in the U.S.: supply shortages, hoarding behaviors, and the unfair advantage given to those who can afford to bulk-buy versus patients with genuine medical needs. Conflicted: 7/7 The Inside Story is now live to all our dear listeners! Episodes 1 & 2 are available from today, with the following episodes of this 6 part series on the terror attacks which changed the face of modern Britain coming every week... -- On a regular Thursday in July 2005, the peaceful morning air was shattered as four bombs ripped through the underground in central London. 52 people were killed, over 700 others were injured. London had never seen bombings of this magnitude before, never with this coordination. In the first episode of this special series of Conflicted, we hear from survivors, emergency workers and a former Al Qaeda spy as we recount the heart-pounding and tumultuous events of that fateful Thursday in July. It sets up a series where we will investigate the last two decades of terrorism and counter terrorism in the UK. How did it develop? What were the motivations behind? And why did terrorism, and the perceived threat of it, change the way in which the UK thinks about its own citizens? Conflicted - 7/7 The Inside Story is produced by Message Heard for Wondery. Conflicted: 7/7 The Inside Story is now live to all our dear listeners! Episodes 1 & 2 are available from today, with the following episodes of this 6 part series on the terror attacks which changed the face of modern Britain coming every week... -- Four years before 7/7, there was 9/11. The attacks on New York's World Trade Center utterly changed the world and counter terrorism was conducted in the modern age. It left the question: could a similar attack happen in London/ In this second episode, host Thomas Small invites academics to trace the origins of British jihadism, showing how London earned its moniker, "Londonistan" through the 1990s, with dissidents from across the Arab world radicalising young people through events like the Rushdie affair and the return of fighters from Afghanistan. But you'll also hear from the UK's top counter terrorism officials about how the UK counter terrorism establishment responded to this. What were the biggest attacks they foiled before the cataclysm of 7/7? And why did they not see an attack on the London Underground coming? Donald Trump might be in the UK for the state visit, but it's Labour pains that are dominating the headlines and, predictably, there is a typical northern lad who thinks he could be just what the party needs. Despite having made two previous (failed) attempts at the leadership, Andy Burnham is on manoeuvres. He does seem to have the key thing that Starmer lacks – i.e. the ability to communicate – but he does unfortunately come with his own history of flip-flopping. What does this say about the state of the left wing?‘They clearly hate it!' says Tim Shipman on today's podcast about Labour's experience of government, but is Burnham's ‘fantasy politics' really the answer? And could he be the one to take the fight to Reform?James Heale speaks to Tim Shipman and Isabel Hardman.Produced by Oscar Edmondson.Become a Spectator subscriber today to access this podcast without adverts. Madness has become their own institution in the UK. There's an entire culture built around their every move, like a ska version of Jimmy Buffett. Sometimes even legends need a break and to just "make music with their friends" and that's what bassist Mark Bedford has done. "Bedders" has paired up again with mates Simon Charterton and Terry Edwards of 2-Tone band the Higsons to release a new album, Tritone, under their side project The Near Jazz Experience. In this episode of "Normal World," Dave Landau, 1/4 Black Garrett, and Angela open with travel stories, awkward flights, and quick-witted banter before turning to the week's heavier headlines. The panel unpacks the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, spotlighting the bizarre reaction from UK musician Bob Vylan and the broader issue of how rhetoric, censorship, and media hypocrisy fuel division. They question the blurred lines between free speech and incitement, noting how consequence culture has replaced accountability in unpredictable ways. From there, the conversation shifts to Hollywood's big night, the Emmys. The hosts joke about whether anyone still watches, then break down Hannah Einbinder's viral “F—k ICE and free Palestine” acceptance speech. They contrast celebrity activism with Ricky Gervais' famous warning against using awards shows as political pulpits, while also reacting to Nate Bargatze's understated hosting and the fading relevance of televised ceremonies. The tone pivots again with satirical riffs on Vince Neil's health scare, a comedic “Half-Assed Top Ten” of Motley Crue stroke songs, and the strange saga of Luigi Mangione, whose supporters include fans claiming to be married to his AI. The episode closes with a reflective tribute as Mike Imbasciani performs a musical dedication to Charlie Kirk. Today's guests on "Normal World" are Mike Imbasciani & Dusty Carter. Members of a UK protest group were shocked to be arrested for projecting a pointed short film about Donald Trump on the walls of Windsor Castle -- and even more so when police told them why. In Nova Scotia, a former swim instructor at a provincially-run youth detention centre is arrested and charged for the alleged sexual abuse of young people over nearly three decades. Ottawa's mayor says the key to solving homelessness in the capital is solving it for the young -- and he's promising to do that in the next five years. We'll remember the North Dakota newspaper columnist Marilyn Hagerty, whose generous review of an Olive Garden restaurant divided the Internet -- and made a fan of Anthony Bourdain. The local historical society in a Maryland town wants two statues removed for being distracting -- but two store owners explain why they're making an emoji-nal appeal to keep the giant peach and the giant eggplant where they are. The left celebrates as accused killer Luigi Mangione inches closer to freedom. A New York judge's ruling dismisses terrorism charges — and with them, the first-degree murder charge tied to the assassination of a CEO. What should have been a clear-cut case of premeditated, first-degree murder is now downgraded to second-degree, setting the stage for a possible light sentence that could see Mangione free before he even goes gray. Tara and Lee break down how the legal maneuvering works, why second-degree charges often mean far fewer years behind bars, and how left-wing social media is openly celebrating Mangione as a hero. From manifesto quotes to posts fantasizing about his future parole, the episode exposes the dark culture of political violence and the growing normalization of assassination in leftist circles. The conversation also expands to cover biased media narratives, selective reporting in politically motivated shootings, and the international fight over free speech — including the arrest of comedian Graham Linehan in the UK for statements he made in America.
Today's episode examines the escalating threats in American political and cultural life, pulling together multiple stories to reveal a worrying pattern of radicalization and media manipulation. From Luigi Mangione's legal saga and the Charlie Kirk shooting, to the Clemson leadership controversy and historical parallels with Marxist revolutions, this episode dissects how violence, intimidation, and ideological extremism are being normalized. Key topics include: The legal and social implications of politically motivated murder cases and light sentencing. How social media platforms amplify and celebrate political violence. Historical lessons from the Russian Cadet Party, the Weimar Republic, and global Marxist revolutions. Media framing and gaslighting, including subtle justifications for violent acts. Broader societal impacts, from free speech challenges in the UK to domestic labor and immigration debates. This episode ties together the threads of assassination culture, radical leftist strategy, and media spin, showing why understanding these dynamics is critical for anyone concerned about safety, governance, and the future of free discourse in America.
