On this episode of Empowering Entrepreneurs, Glenn and Julie are joined by special guest Alan "Blake" Blakeborough, co-founder of Tax Titans. Tax Titans is a company that specializes in helping small businesses and individuals with tax filings, and it is staffed by veterans or spouses of veterans. During the episode, Blake discusses the lack of networking opportunities for solo practitioners and small firms in the accounting industry, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and camaraderie. They also touch on the importance of finding like-minded individuals who share the same vision when assembling a team. They discuss the company's focus on providing a succession plan for solo practitioners and developing a secure platform for accountants to collaborate.Throughout the episode, Glenn and Julie delve into various topics with Blake, including his military background, his experience with Drake Software, and the impact of his work with military spouses and veterans. Blake shares his perspective on the value of not quitting and the importance of creating opportunities for underemployed and underappreciated individuals.Running a business doesn't have to run your life.Without a business partner who holds you accountable, it's easy to be so busy ‘doing' business that you don't have the right strategy to grow your business.Stop letting your business run you.

“The pace of change is faster than it’s ever been before, but it will never be this slow again”. Here’s episode 2 of our ‘Durable DevOps Podcast’, recorded live at the Cloud Expo in Silicon Valley! A thought-provoking exploration of DevOps, antifragility and continuous integration, with the combined insight of senior industry leaders - Greg Bledsoe and Roger Strukhoff. MThree’s Chief Disruption Officer, Greg Bledsoe, is in discussion with the Co-Chair of Cloud Expo, Roger Strukhoff, about building invincible IT for the modern speed of change. You’ll hear Roger explain firsthand the background of the Cloud Expo conference, after its launch in 1994, and how it grew into the groundbreaking event it is today. Greg and Roger go into depth on DevOps, looking into how we are training the younger generation, whilst ensuring that older generations can adapt and build an integrated, holistic approach to DevOps. Greg emphasises how there’s never really an endpoint to continuous integration. Organisations need to incorporate incremental adaptation on what’s different today, from yesterday. They explore the risks of buzzword adoption in today’s world, where organisations are struggling to understand the value of what they’ve adopted. They delve into the anti-fragility of business practices that gain in strength due to stress and apply this logic to the financial markets. High-quality DevOps hinges upon sharing your learning, and that’s a primary value for us at MThree. Let’s double down on what works, and stop doing what doesn’t. On that note, please enjoy this podcast and share far and wide! https://www.cloudexpoeurope.com/ https://www.mthree.com/

"Few observers have truly internalized the implications of the fact that the rate of change itself is accelerating." - Ray Kurzweil, founder at Singularity U The future is coming faster than we think. Don’t be a passive passenger. Think for yourself, think ahead and ask questions - don’t follow blindly. Today's guest on the OPP is Hannes Sjob, the Chief Disruption Officer at Epicenter Stockholm and a faculty member at Singularity University. Hannes takes us on a fascinating glimpse into the future of wearable - and implantable - technologies, Artificial Intelligence and the intersection of BioTech with biohacking, health and Big Data. What’s coming? What does it mean? What can we do with it? On the positive side, we could see the democratization of medicine - a revolutionary shift in the way we proactively protect our health with real-time biofeedback from heart rates (already happening) to hormone levels along with suggestions for course corrections. Are we really 2-5 years away from grain-of-rice-sized implants that could change the way medical systems operate and treat patients - especially important in rural and undeveloped areas where the nearest doctors are hundreds of miles away. Conversely, on the futuristic Sci-Fi, skeptical side, there are serious questions that we need to ask (and answer) about tracking and monitoring - do we trust the people who have this data? Who will access to it and what can they do with it? What are the real Big Data concerns? Can we encrypt certain information? (yes) Technology is accelerating faster than most of us realize, and while it has tremendous potential upside, we need to have these conversations now while we still have the opportunity to curate the future we want for ourselves. We won't have all the answers today, but we certainly need to start asking the right questions. Enjoy this show with Hannes and let us know your thoughts on Implants, AI, and the future of biohacking.

Evo Terra Evo Terra has led innovative and disruptive strategies for 20 years. In business, he's launched and managed enterprise-level commerce platforms and directed international agency teams. As an educator, he's hosted nationally syndicated radio programs, authored many instructional books, and is a nationally known speaker. As an entrepreneur, he’s launched many startups, all with varying degrees of success. Through it all, Evo stays focused on emerging trends, the impact of science on on society, and the importance of critical thinking. Evo currently holds positions in several companies including Podiobooks.com as the President, BigBounce.co as the Chief Disruption Officer and also as a strategic advisor for Scribl.com which sells books online using "Crowdpricing". Definitely want to get into that. In addition to his current duties, he's a published author of multiple books including his latest book, the Beer Diet, Making Killer Google+ Profiles, Writing Awesome Book Blurbs, Expert Podcasting for Dummies and Podcasting for Dummeis (2nd Edition). Evo has been quoted as saying "Innovation preceded by disruption is just natural and predictable progression". Evo Terra Takes Multi-tasking to an Entirely New Level Positioning himself witin multiple companies, encapulates Evo's desire to constantly strive to find the next best thing. While most of us may collapse under the pressure of multi-tasking at this level, this is Mr. Terra's comfort zone. Evo is currently involved in three companies and the first of which is a company called Podiobooks.com wherein you are the President. He coined the phrase "podiobook" in April of 2005 to describe serialized audiobooks which are distributed via RSS feeds, much like podcasts - the combination of podcast and audiobook. All the podiobooks are free of charge; however, they ask for donations to help keep these services available. Evo took the time to thank Libsyn for their help with the hosting. They are a great company and you should check them out for your podcast hosting needs. He is the "Chief Disruption Officer" for a company called BigBounce.co that was an idea drummed up between Sitewire President, Bret Giles, and Evo when he held the VP of Media and Innovation position for five years. Big Bounce transforms disruptive startups into sustainable businesses. We use a variety of flexible, lightweight processes to incubate and accelerate our member businesses, help them master business fundamentals, and provide executive-level guidance and other support structures necessary to run a sustainable business. I read about BigBounce.co and it seems to be a great opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to take their concept to the next level. Evo is also a strategic advisor for Scribl.com. This company provides readers an opportunity to find the right book and pay the right price based on a powerful new software known as CrowdPricing. It's also a platform that provides authors another resource to share their work and help them build a portfolio and even get their books published. Scribl.com is currently in the "Beta" process, but it's moving forward at a rapid pace.
