Ep 508: You Have No Birth Date

    The Jim Fortin Podcast

Start Your Transformation Now  In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim explores a provocative idea: the listener has no birth date. While the body has an incarnation date, the soul — the true source of power — never dies and therefore was never born. Jim explains that most people live exclusively from their 3D, mechanistic identity, completely disconnected from the continuous soul-consciousness that is the actual source of all power, peace, and creation.  Jim unpacks why chasing external power — money, status, recognition — is an outdated model of consciousness that is rapidly collapsing as humanity evolves into higher levels of awareness. He reveals the single word that secretly sabotages most people's ability to create what they want, and offers a radically different way to relate to desire itself.  This episode challenges listeners to stop chasing and start remembering who they truly are.  What You'll Discover in This Episode:  (00:00) You have no birth date — Jim introduces the central idea that while the body has an incarnation date, the soul is continuous and was never born, and explains why this is the seat of true power.  (03:24) Continual vs. continuous — Jim distinguishes between the body's continual, repeating incarnations and the soul's continuous, unbroken existence, and why identifying with soul changes everything.  (10:13) There is no point A and point B — Jim dismantles the manifestation myth that separates a person from their desire, using the metaphor of a small wave and a big wave both being made of the same substance.  (15:56) Old power structures are crumbling — Jim explains why external forms of power (money, politics, status) are an outdated 3D model collapsing as consciousness evolves into a 5D paradigm.  (23:15) The hidden danger of "I need" — Jim reveals how the word "need" instantly creates separation from the thinking substance that creates all things, and why this keeps people stuck.  (27:10) To need nothing is to have everything — Jim shares the epiphany that anything available to others is available to the listener, and closes with a final truth meant to be felt rather than analyzed.  Listen, apply, and enjoy!  Transformational Takeaway  The body has a birth date, but the soul does not — and remembering this is where real power begins. Most people sabotage their own desires by living from "I need," a word that instantly creates separation from the one substance that all things, including the listener, are made of. There is no point A and point B, no chasing, no struggling to close a gap that was never truly there. The invitation in this episode is simple but profound: stop relating to life from need, and start relating to it from wholeness. To need nothing is to have everything.  Mentioned Resources: The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. For the last 400 years when medical researchers conducted an autopsy they would throw this away as medical waste, not realizing it was actually a powerful connective organ...now Western science has finally caught up with Chinese Medicine in discovering the power of fascia. What is fascia in your body and how can learning about it benefit you? In this episode you'll learn: What fascia tissue is and how it connects every system in your body, allowing for strength and mobility. How your fascia actually communicates throughout your body. If one organ has an issue, it could be impacting another one. How your fascial system is your body's electrical system, conducting energy, a fact Western medicine is finally waking up to while Traditional Chinese Medicine has known it for thousands of years. How embryology is the process through which one cell becomes your whole body, from conception to birth, and your meridian lines form the blueprint. Start Your Transformation Now Have you ever asked yourself why you're on this planet? I don't mean “what is your purpose while you're on the planet, but the bigger question is…why on this planet? I attempt in this episode to get you to start thinking from a much higher perspective about the nature of your existence here on Earth. Most people search for a lifetime looking for their “purpose,” and they spend their life like a dog chasing his tail looking for this answer. When people think about their purpose, they are mostly thinking about how that gives their life meaning relative to others, but have you ever thought about the bigger cosmic purpose of you coming to this planet? In this episode I talk about:[4:12] How most people see life only in the context of time on the planet[5:39] How do you grow and evolve beyond your perceived time here?[7:09] How we are all born into a world that traps us in a small reality[11:53] Where is your predominant focus on your life right now?[17:27] And, the two biggest reasons you are on this planet. The point of this whole episode is this. Are you living fully into the duality of self and have you evolved into someone who lives from the higher value, meaning and purpose of your cosmic self or have you lived for the sustenance and convenience of your 3D ego? Listen, apply, and enjoy!  Transformational Takeaway  Do you live to serve and make the world a better place and do you live to serve and EVOLVE your higher self as much as you can? In this hard-hitting episode of the Adult in the Room podcast, Victoria Taft breaks down a massive week of institutional victories, thwarted conspiracies, and pure leftist absurdity. First, we unpack a monumental 6-3 Supreme Court victory for the Constitution and border security. The court has ruled that the Immigration and Naturalization Act (INA) does not require border officers to present "clear and convincing evidence" before treating criminal green card holders as returning aliens subject to immediate removal proceedings. Then, real justice strikes in Fort Worth, Texas. In the first federal Antifa terrorism prosecution in U.S. history, eight members of a North Texas Antifa terror cell have been sentenced to a combined 450 years in federal prison for a coordinated shooting ambush on an ICE facility. Victoria exposes the ringleaders, the weapons, and the delusion behind this militant cell. Plus: Two more fast-moving FBI arrests reveal terrifying new details of a 3D-printed drone and sniper plot targeting the White House UFC Freedom 250 event. We also dive into an emergency Iran SITREP as Secretary of State Marco Rubio heads to the Gulf to manage fracturing alliances over the controversial 14-point ceasefire deal, right as the IDF uncovers an underground drone airbase in Lebanon. Finally, we look at the pure comedy of "Team Algae" activists vandalizing the D.C. reflecting pool, and offer a heartfelt tribute to the legendary talk radio host Martha Zoller.

What if the feelings you've been most afraid to feel are the exact ones keeping you from the pleasure, the magic, and the life you most desire? In this episode of Why Isn't Everyone Doing This?, Emily Fletcher sits down with Dr. Laura Berman, PhD scientist, sex and relationship therapist of 30 years, and author of 10 books including Sex Magic and her newest, Crying Out Loud: A Path Through Grief into Life Reimagined. Dr. Berman's story is one of the most remarkable Emily has ever shared on this show. After losing her mother to breast cancer and developing the same cancer in the same breast within a year, Laura recognized the connection between unexpressed grief and physical illness. Then, five years ago, her 16-year-old son Sammy was killed by an accidental fentanyl poisoning sent to him through Snapchat. What happened next, a week alone in the Redwoods, a voice at the beach, and a complete surrender into the pain, led to the discovery that changed everything: there is a bottom. It takes about three minutes. And going all the way into grief does not take you under. It sets you free. This conversation directly illuminates what Emily teaches inside Ziva Magic: all feelings come through the same channel. When you suppress grief and rage, you suppress pleasure and ecstasy. The willingness to stretch your emotional capacity is the same thing as stretching your capacity for magic. Tomer London is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Gusto, the payroll, HR, and benefits platform that serves hundreds of thousands of small businesses across the United States. Originally from Haifa, Israel, Tomer grew up helping in his family's small business, an experience that shaped his passion for entrepreneurship and supporting small business owners. With degrees in computer engineering and electrical engineering from the Technion and Stanford, respectively, Tomer combined his love of technology with a deep appreciation for small businesses to help build Gusto into a company generating more than $1 billion in annual revenue. On this episode we talk about: How Tomer earned his first entrepreneurial income creating 3D animations as a teenager Why curiosity and tinkering with technology can create lifelong opportunities The differences between product management, engineering, and building technology companies How Gusto grew by focusing on customer love rather than traditional sales tactics Lessons learned from a failed startup before building a billion-dollar business Top 3 Takeaways The most important activities for an early-stage startup are building a product people love and talking to customers relentlessly. Customer referrals become the most powerful growth engine when you create an experience that people genuinely enjoy using. When hiring, prioritize humility, adaptability, and a growth mindset over impressive resumes or technical credentials alone. Notable Quotes "Build your product and talk with customers. Climate philanthropy does far more than fund advocacy and conservation—it bridges critical funding gaps for breakthrough technologies that traditional, financially driven investors often overlook. In this special episode, we continue our ongoing Climate Philanthropy series in partnership with the Skyline Foundation to explore how non-profit support accelerates the climate tech pipeline.Shereen D'Souza (Climate Solutions Portfolio Lead at Skyline Foundation) sits down with two powerhouse CEOs from her grantee portfolio, Deepa Lounsbury of LabStart and Andrew Chang of New Energy Nexus, to discuss what it really takes to move climate innovation from a university lab to global deployment. Why This Episode MattersBringing a "hard tech" climate startup from initial lab concept to commercial scale takes an average of 10 years, and every single step of that journey faces a unique "valley of death." Because scaled deployment looks drastically different depending on the geography, supporting entrepreneurs requires a highly specialized ecosystem. This conversation highlights how philanthropy strategically funds distinct, critical phases of the lab-to-market pipeline to scale viable climate solutions faster. On today's episode, we cover:0:58 – Why climate philanthropy & Skyline partnership3:35 – LabStart vs. New Energy Nexus focus4:09 – Guest intros: Deepa (LabStart) & Andrew (New Energy Nexus)4:46 – Deepa's background in climate, VC, and CalSEED6:20 – What LabStart does & “deep climate tech” focus8:02 – Andrew's overview of New Energy Nexus global model9:43 – Programs: bootcamps, grants, CalSEED, and global south focus11:16 – What it looks like to be a New Energy Nexus entrepreneur11:54 – Philippines rooftop solar opportunity: Solar Innovation Program12:48 – Pakistan rooftop solar boom and Climate Innovation Pakistan13:40 – CalSEED structure and impact in California13:58 – What it looks like to be a LabStart entrepreneur14:55 – LabStart Discover and Launch phases15:54 – Why philanthropy is needed in climate tech innovation18:36 – Philanthropy in the global south and hyperlocal impact22:10 – LabStart success story: architect-turned-3D housing founder24:32 – Additional LabStart founders and outcomes25:25 – How much philanthropic capital is needed27:17 – IEA investment gap and catalytic examples from Indonesia29:43 – Why fund new technologies vs. only deployment32:06 – How country pathways shape New Energy Nexus engagement33:02 – California deployment example: ThermoShade33:58 – Indonesia fishermen & electric motorboats case: Volto Sea34:51 – Pakistan PakPlug EV charging app35:22 – What else the ecosystem needs: Andrew on subnational governments37:34 – What else the ecosystem needs: Deepa on IP & ecosystem gaps41:02 – Five-year vision & asks: Deepa and LabStart43:49 – Five-year vision & asks: Andrew and New Energy Nexus47:26 – Closing thanks from ShereenResources MentionedInvested in Climate: Climate Philanthropy seriesSkyline FoundationLabStartNew Energy NexusProject DrawdownJamil WyneCalSEED Solar Innovation ProgramClimate Innovation Pakistan CalTestBedAusTestbedThermoShade Swap Energy Xuraya Volto SeaPakPlug Schmidt Family Foundation Boundless EarthAtlassian Foundation California Energy Commission (CEC) New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)Mubadala Investment Company (Abu Dhabi) Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA)International Energy Agency (IEA)Elemental ImpactActivate Renewables FirstConnect with usShereen D'SouzaDeepa LounsburyAndrew ChangJason RissmanKeep up with Invested In ClimateSign up for our NewsletterSubscribe for our Other Future NewsletterLinkedInInstagramIf you like what you hear, subscribe and rate to support the show! Then it used that image money to build a machine designed to look inside the human body.In Episode 71, Drew Brucker and Rory Flynn, two men with zero medical degrees and a medically concerning level of confidence, unpack Midjourney Medical and David Holz's surprise hardware reveal. At the center is the Midjourney Scanner, a water-based, full-body Ultrasonic CT prototype designed to capture detailed 3D body maps in roughly 60 seconds. They break down how the scanner uses sound waves, water, and serious computing power; why Midjourney plans to introduce it through a San Francisco spa; and how a bootstrapped company with no investors can make a bet this strange. They also separate the scanner's current body-composition ambitions from the much bigger MRI-level future Midjourney hopes to pursue through research, testing, and FDA approval. Then the episode gets even less normal.Claude Fable 5 appears, dramatically accelerates Rory's coding, Blender, and MCP workflows, and disappears days later following a US government directive. Naturally, this sends the hosts directly into Conspiracy Corner with no adult supervision.Along the way, Drew and Rory explore how brand adoption of AI has changed, why some of the most advanced commercial AI work stays hidden behind NDAs, how companies can reward employees for useful AI innovation, and why first-time reaction content remains one of the internet's strongest viral formats. Is Midjourney's full-body scanner a medical breakthrough, an ambitious wellness experiment, or the first clue to a much larger hardware roadmap? Stewart Alsop hosts a conversation with Oliver Polzin, a founding team member of Meow Wolf and naturalist, exploring the intersection of creativity, conservation, and architecture. Oliver discusses his current postgraduate work at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles studying synthetic landscapes through an architectural lens, his deep fascination with Pleistocene megafauna and the La Brea Tar Pits, and his vision for creating a "biophilic culture" that reframes humanity's relationship with other species and ecosystems. The discussion ranges from Oliver's early work building mud caves at Meow Wolf to his current explorations of AI-assisted design tools, 3D printing with recycled materials, holistic grazing management systems for the Great Plains, and the ancient Amazonian practice of creating terra preta soil—all part of his broader investigation into how we can design interventions for climate and conservation issues while maintaining what makes us fundamentally human.Timestamps00:00 Stewart introduces Oliver Polzin from Meow Wolf's founding team and discusses how his yoga teaching there inspired the podcast's exploration of creativity and stress relationships.05:00 Oliver describes his architecture graduate program studying climate and conservation through synthetic landscapes, contrasting dark green naturalist ecology with bright green capitalist environmentalism.10:00 Discussion of conservation ethics and AI's potential for monitoring environmental systems, with Oliver explaining his journey from painting to experimental mud construction at early Meow Wolf.15:00 Stewart shares his robotics learning journey with ESP32s in Buenos Aires while Oliver questions humanoid robot design, suggesting functional form factors matter more than human resemblance.20:00 Oliver explores cardboard as material obsession and explains treasure hunt mechanics in Meow Wolf exhibits, creating dopamine-driven discovery experiences through layered storytelling.25:00 Stewart describes creating treasure hunts for Spanish learners in Buenos Aires parks while Oliver validates experiential art's growing importance in an increasingly digital culture.30:00 Conversation shifts to three-d printing flexible filaments for architectural models and Oliver's megafauna book project about La Brea Tar Pits Pleistocene fossils.35:00 Oliver connects Earth consciousness to Pale Blue Dot perspective, arguing humans face developmental threshold understanding planetary responsibility after 300,000 years as anatomically modern species.40:00 Deep dive into end-Pleistocene extinction events and megafauna loss, discussing two-ton capybaras and how predator relationships shaped human psychology and anxiety responses.45:00 Oliver presents speculative Great Plains biopreserve concept with de-extinct megafauna, contrasting holistic rotational grazing with destructive monoculture agriculture systems.50:00 Discussion concludes with Amazonian dark earth technology and indigenous landscape management, emphasizing need for biophilic culture embracing deep time ecological perspective.Key Insights1. Oliver Polzin is part of the founding team of Meow Wolf and is currently studying at SCI-Arc in Downtown LA in a postgraduate program called Synthetic Landscapes, which examines global scale climate and conservation issues through an architectural lens. Architecture exists between art and science, and he believes architectural thinking offers a valuable framework for designing interventions for climate and conservation challenges. This program represents a significant evolution from his earlier work at Meow Wolf, where he created immersive experiential art installations using materials like adobe and cardboard.2. There is an important distinction in ecological thought between what Paul Kingsnorth calls dark green and light green approaches to environmentalism. The dark green strain represents the older naturalist movement from the early twentieth century, focusing on biological systems, ecosystems, and endangered species. Light green emerged in the 1970s after the Earth Day movement and centers on clean energy, solar panels, and wind power as a way to maintain our current lifestyle. Oliver argues that the bright green approach represents a capitalist overlay that has captured the conservation movement, whereas true conservation requires focusing on actual biological systems rather than just technological solutions.3. The experiential art form that Meow Wolf pioneered still has enormous untapped potential, particularly as society becomes increasingly digital. Oliver believes there will be a huge wave of experiential desire in this decade as people crave human connection and real-world excitement. The treasure hunt and scavenger hunt format represents a compelling form of real-life RPG that creates meaningful human interactions. This type of experience design, which Meow Wolf developed through installations like the House of Eternal Return, plays with human dopamine systems by compelling people to open doors, explore spaces, and follow narrative threads through physical environments.4. The architectural model or dollhouse concept represents a crucial rhetorical tool that Oliver is learning to apply to climate and conservation work. Architects have long created physical models to show stakeholders what a building will be like, and this practice of showing a story in compelling ways for different types of brains is essential for getting traction on projects. While architectural models used to be made from foam core, paper, and balsa wood, they are now largely created through 3D printing, which allows for incredibly complex forms and interlocking structures that would have been impossible to construct manually.5. Oliver is obsessed with megafauna and the end Pleistocene extinction event that occurred roughly twelve thousand years ago. For three hundred thousand years, anatomically modern humans existed alongside massive beasts like short faced bears and American lions, and we were the smaller creatures in the ecosystem. The extinction of over one hundred genera of animals over ninety nine pounds, combined with sea level rise of nearly four hundred feet, fundamentally changed human existence and led to the development of agriculture and civilization. Much of our current psychological development, including anxiety responses, is still based on this time period when we lived among these massive animals.6. The current food system in the Great Plains is fundamentally broken compared to the historical managed food system maintained by Plains tribes, who sustained thirty to sixty million bison through 1800. Oliver explored a speculative project about turning the Great Plains into a massive biopreserve of de-extinct megafauna, contrasting the natural system of rotational grazing where predators keep herds moving with the current monoculture crop agriculture that requires external inputs like fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides. The natural system builds soil and increases fecundity, while industrial agriculture degrades soil, creates toxic runoff, and produces genetically modified crops that feed animals in toxic concentrated feeding operations.7. The fundamental challenge facing humanity now is creating what Oliver calls a biophilic or ecophilic culture that is loving of other species and our home planet. This requires both psychological shifts and changes in how we design systems at all scales. The Amazon provides a powerful example of this, as recent LiDAR mapping has revealed that what appeared to be pristine wilderness was actually a vast tended garden created by indigenous civilizations who developed technologies like Amazonian dark earth through burning middens with various additives. These cultures understood how to be embedded in a web with other species while playing an important orchestrating role, offering a model for how humans might relate to other forms of life in our current era.

As marathon runners, we think we understand endurance, pacing, and the tech that drives our sport. But what happens when you take the legs out of the equation and replace them with Formula 1 engineering, 3D-printed hard gloves, and highway-speed descents? In this episode, I sit down with an absolute titan of endurance sports: Marcel Hug, the "Swiss Silver Bullet." He is a 12-time Paralympic Gold Medalist and the most dominant athlete across the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Marcel just matched a historic milestone by winning his eighth London Marathon, and I wanted to bridge the gap between our running community and his world. We skip the fluff and go straight into the sports science. Marcel breaks down why he can race 8 to 9 marathons a year when we can barely survive two, how he navigates extreme downhills at 80 km/h (50 mph) without a steering wheel, and how his custom-molded carbon chassis ensures zero energy loss. If you love high-performance gear, brutal physiology, and the elite mindset, this conversation will completely change how you view marathon speed. The "Silver Bullet" Trademark: How a simple Christmas gift from his junior coach became a global symbol of dominance. The 9-Marathon Season: Why the smooth, cyclical physics of a push-rim chair allow wheelchair athletes to race nearly ten marathons a year with minimal joint impact.Technical Analysis (Chassis vs. Shoes): While we look for energy return in foam, Marcel looks for zero energy loss in his rigid, custom-molded carbon fiber seat.Punching at 20 MPH: The material science behind 3D-printed hard gloves and how athletes "hit" the push-rim rather than grabbing it.The Wind Tunnel Discovery: Why F1 aerodynamics forced a shift from solid disc wheels back to open-spoke wheels. The Strict Mindset of a Champion: A rare look at Marcel's internal dialogue when pushing the absolute limit entirely alone at the front of a Major. My Favorite Moment: "In a daily wheelchair, you grab the wheels with your fingers. With racing gloves, you punch the rim. Every single ounce of energy from your upper body has to go directly into forward movement." — Marcel HugConnect with Us:Our website: https://www.marathonjournal.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/runningpodcastYouTube: https://youtube.com/@marathonjournalFollow us on Strava: https://www.strava.com/athletes/30798607Our website: https://www.marathonjournal.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/runningpodcastFollow us on Strava: https://www.strava.com/athletes/30798607Connect with Us:

This is a very similar font that was used in the typed version of the Declaration of Independence. A circle of 13 large five-pointed stars frames the entire design, creating the look of an early American flag which was inspired by the spirit of 1776 and, of course, the 13 original colonies. At the top left and right corners of the print, the years “1776” and “2026” mark the 250-year anniversary of the United States. Beneath each year is a line of raised braille dots, adding a tactile reading element that complements the18th century fonts. Centered in the middle of the print, the famous and powerful phrase from the Declaration of Independence is stacked in dramatic vintage-style lettering “WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF EVIDENT THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL.” Each section of text is paired with tactile braille underneath, allowing the message to be experienced both visually and through touch. The combination of distressed colonial inspired lettering and raised puff ink creates a striking and authentic dimensional effect. Below the main statement is a horizontal divider with a centered star, followed by the words: “UNITED STATES Of AMERICA.” Again, accompanied by tactile braille beneath the 18th century authentic wording the entire print is designed in clean white puff ink for a bold raised texture that stands out. The tactile surface gives the artwork depth, accessibility, and a handcrafted feel while maintaining a strong patriotic presentation. This T-shirt is 100% cotton, but do not size up because there is very little shrinkage when washed. Photo by Gabriel Meinert on Unsplash Published 22 June 2026 e558 with Michael M and Andy – slowing things down with games where you walk, fly, sail, throw bananas and play ball, along with 3D printing innovation, a new flip phone from Commodore and a whole lot more! Michael M and Andy get things started while Michael R is away with cornucopia of games. First up is StonkRider, which bills itself as “motocross meets wall street” where you ride a motorcycle up and down a stock ticker.  Then, from the makers of Untitled Goose Game, is a new title called Big Walk, where, as the title suggests, you go out for an unstructured walk.  This harkens back nicely to the discussion between Ian and Andy in last week's episode.  And it reminds Michael of a story he saw recently about Google's take on Flight Simulator using Google Maps.  Next, the pair discuss TinyWind, a pixel pirate sailing game, where you might charter an accountant and sail the wild accountancy.  Then, an even more retro game appears – Gorilla.JS.  This DOS game has gorillas throwing exploding bananas at one another from across a cityscape where you can choose the angle and force to throw.  Both cohosts promptly thew their bananas with such little force that it went up in the air and exploded on their own gorilla.   Batter up!  Andy and Michael's next set of topics take them to America's pastime, and the adjacent sport of cricket.  After checking out the game visualization of Ribbie, the pair get into a discussion on what 8-Bit really means.  Michael remembers the SmallBall game, and was disappointed to learn that this game is no longer maintained.  On the other hand, he is happy about his university playing in the College World Series.  Baseball and cricket really lend themselves well to games because of all of the stats that are kept about each player and the games themselves.  Andy shared the story of the Wisden Cricketers Almanack which chronicles enormous details in it's 1,500 pages! After turning to innovations in 3D printing and visionOS collaboration, the cohosts consider the slow tech movement using the example of the new Commodore Callback flip phone.  This phone features the promoted ability to run 99% of Android apps while completely blocking social media and browsers.   Andy and Michael wrap things up with a new LEGO Ideas set – a playable LEGO space themed pinball machine.   Links to all of the fun are below – check them out!   What do you think the Commodore Callback model number 8020 means?  Have your bots

Don't forget to subscribe for free to our newsletter, the top 10 ideas of the week, every Monday --------- Ed Catmull is the co-founder of Pixar and the former president of Disney Animation. He grew up in 1950s Utah wanting to animate for Disney. Convinced he couldn't draw well enough, he studied physics and computer science at the University of Utah instead, landing in one of the great talent incubators in computing history. In 1972, he animated his own left hand—one of the first 3D computer renderings ever made. Since childhood he had carried a single ambition: to make the first feature film animated entirely by computer. Reaching it took more than 20 years. George Lucas hired Catmull in 1979 to build a computer division at Lucasfilm. When Lucas needed cash, Steve Jobs bought that division in 1986 for $5 million and spun it out as Pixar. For years it sold imaging computers and lost money while Catmull and John Lasseter made short films to keep the dream alive. Jobs sank roughly $50 million of his own money into it. In 1995, Pixar released Toy Story, the first feature animated entirely by computer, and went public days later. Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, WALL-E, and Up followed. Disney bought Pixar in 2006 for $7.4 billion and put Catmull in charge of both studios; he revived a faltering Disney Animation with films like Frozen. Catmull cared about the conditions that let creative work survive its own fragility. Every original idea, he argues, starts out ugly and broken, and management exists to protect it long enough to get good. At Pixar that meant the Braintrust: a room where directors got blunt feedback with no authority attached and the conversation stayed on the problem, never on who was right. He laid it all out in Creativity, Inc. Portland's Business Struggles and Las Vegas's SCHEDULE JBS 6-19-2026.1900 LAGrowth. Guest: Jeff Bliss. High taxes and progressive policies in Portland are driving a corporate exodus, including Under Armour, as business districts empty. Conversely, Las Vegas is thriving, highlighted by the opening of a massive four-story In-N-Out on the Strip. The segment also covers California's proposed wealth tax and calls to nationalize AI. 1Ethics Investigations into the Newsom Administration. Guest: Jeff Bliss. Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, face investigations regarding millions in "behested payments" from entities like PG&E to her media company. While Newsom dismisses the probe as political weaponization, critics suggest these payments indicate potential undue influence and significant ethical scandals within the administration. 2Critique of Middle East Ceasefire Strategy. Guest: Richard Epstein. Epstein argues that recurring ceasefire declarations are merely strategic devices for rearmament rather than genuine steps toward peace. He criticizes current negotiation styles for alienating allies and failing to pursue the unconditional surrender of adversaries, which he believes is the only stable solution for regional security. 3Supreme Court Rulings on Gun Rights and Drug Use. Guest: Richard Epstein. In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court ruled that marijuana use alone does not justify the categorical stripping of a citizen's Second Amendment rights. Epstein critiques the court's narrow reliance on originalism, suggesting a "police power" analysis should instead determine if a person poses an immediate physical threat. 4Economic Resilience in D.C. and Lancaster County. Guest: Jim McTague. A drop in gasoline prices has boosted consumer spending at retail stores and supermarkets. While D.C. remains popular with tourists, employers are struggling to find workers with specialized technical skills. Meanwhile, the housing market remains robust at the high end despite higher interest rates. 5Italian Defense Pressures and the Summer Heatwave. Guest: Lorenzo Fiori. Italy's government is balancing NATO's demands for increased military spending against rising energy costs. Simultaneously, a record-breaking heatwave reaching 104°F in Milan is straining public resources, prompting Fiori to recommend the cooler Garfagnana region for its fresh environment and traditional bean and cabbage soup. 6SpaceX's Aggressive Launch Schedule and Innovation. Guest: Bob Zimmerman. Gwynne Shotwell indicates that SpaceX's Starship may begin operational flights and orbital refueling tests by year's end. The company is also demolishing older facilities at Vandenberg for new launchpads, while private startups advance 3D-printed rockets and orbital satellite rescue missions to assist aging telescopes. 7Mars Discoveries and Cosmological Mysteries. Guest: Bob Zimmerman. The discovery of galaxies devoid of dark matter is challenging fundamental astronomical theories. On Mars, the Curiosity rover has reached smooth ground after five years of rocky terrain. Additionally, orbiters have detected multiple dust devils and potential frost and ice in the planet's equatorial regions during winter. 8Literary Giants of the New England Renaissance. Guest: Bruce Nichols. This segment explores the intense relationship between Hawthorne and Melville, who dedicated Moby Dick to Hawthorne. While Ralph Waldo Emersonoften criticized their dark worldviews, these authors, alongside Walt Whitman and Margaret Fuller, were instrumental in inventing a uniquely original and enduring American literary voice. 9Thoreau's Performative Solitude at Walden Pond. Guest: Bruce Nichols. Henry David Thoreau built his famous cabin on land owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Contrary to his image as a total hermit, Thoreau was quite social, often walking into town for fresh-cooked meals and laundry. He eventually spent years refining his journals into the masterpiece Walden. 10The Struggles and Triumphs of Louisa May Alcott. Guest: Bruce Nichols. Louisa May Alcott supported her family because her father, Bronson Alcott, failed to earn a consistent living. She served as a Civil War nurse, dealing with horrific casualties before contracting a severe illness she attributed to mercury poisoning. Her 1868 novel Little Womenfinally resolved the family's debts. 11The Literary Legacy and Final Days of the Alcotts. Guest: Bruce Nichols. Following the success of Little Women, Alcott resisted fan demands for her protagonist to marry Laurie, choosing an independent path. As the circle aged, both Emerson and Bronson Alcott suffered significant cognitive decline, with Louisa providing essential financial and personal support until her death in 1888. 12Diplomatic Strains and Escalation Risks in Ukraine. Guest: Anatol Lieven. European leaders are divided over initiating direct negotiations with Russia as the war remains stuck on the ground. While some advocate for offering Putina "golden bridge" to claim a symbolic victory, others argue for continued pressure, despite the constant risks of accidental or nuclear escalation. 13The Rise of Andy Burnham in UK Politics. Guest: Anatol Lieven. Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is emerging as a formidable potential successor to Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Though Burnham enjoys strong regional support, he faces daunting national issues, including the funding crisis in the NHS and Britain's inability to borrow like the United States. 14A Vision for Governance Reform in Canada. Guest: Conrad Black. Biographer Conrad Black and billionaire Stephen Jarislowsky have proposed recommendations to streamline Canadian governance by reducing duplicated bureaucracy. They argue that Canada's public service is top-heavy and that lowering corporate and personal taxes is essential for maintaining economic growth and competitiveness with the United States. 15CISA's Mission to Protect Critical Infrastructure. Guest: Francis Rose. Acting Director Nick Anderson explains CISA's role as a vital clearinghouse for cyber threat information across federal and private sectors. Since 85% of critical infrastructure is privately owned, CISA focuses on information exchange to prevent bad actors from moving laterally to disrupt water or power supplies. 16

Ken Rosato fills in for Mark Simone. Ken kicks things off by reflecting on the history and meaning of Juneteenth, especially as we celebrate the 2026 holiday. Iran claims to have closed the Strait of Hormuz again, which is causing a stir since VP JD Vance’s trip to sign a ceasefire deal has now been called off. Ken explains how Zohran Mamdani’s accent seems to shift, sharing a bit about Mamdani’s background along the way. And what exactly is socialism? Ken breaks it down. Ken interviews John Boyd Jr. from The Boyd Company. John explains why business policies matter so much when companies decide where to set up shop. Samsung’s decision to move out of New Jersey comes up, with both Ken and John pointing to the financial challenges companies face in the state. They also talk about Governor Mikie Sherrill’s recent efforts to lower energy costs and how her strategies stack up to what Governor Josh Shapiro has done in Pennsylvania, which is shaping up to be a positive outcome. The big question: Should the U.S. have signed that peace deal with Iran? What's better than a theme park podcast? A theme park podcast recorded while a tornado is actively threatening to rearrange EB's house. Welcome to another completely unhinged episode of Coaster Radio, where we somehow manage to discuss the future of Disney Imagineering, a legendary wooden coaster's potential comeback, and the glorious grit of America's boardwalk parks while EB monitors live storm tracking from his studio. We kick things off with some big news: Adobe has announced a collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development to bring AI-powered pre-visualization tools to the theme park design pipeline. The idea is to take Imagineering's massive archive of concept art and accelerate the development process — from blue sky sketch to 3D model, faster than ever before. Sounds exciting, right? Well, EB has thoughts. A lot of them. Speaking of attractions, Hershey Park's legendary Tidal Force — one of the most spectacular splash zones in the history of boat rides — is closing after 32 years this September. Alabama Adventure is teasing a big announcement that fans hope means the long-dormant Rampage wooden coaster is finally coming back, possibly with RMC treatment. Universal Epic Universe is debuting a brand new nighttime spectacular called Celestial Goodnight featuring seven million LED lights and 350 fountains. And Dollywood's Night Flight Expedition has been pushed back to August — which opens the door for Holiday World, who appears to be announcing their single biggest investment ever on July 1st at 8:45 AM, and all signs point to a Mack rocking boat ride coming to Boulder Canyon in 2027. Then we pivot to the second half of the show — a full celebration of boardwalk parks and the beautiful, gritty, chaotic joy of beach amusement. Mike's heading to Ocean City, Maryland for vacation, and we take a loving tour of some of America's great seaside spots: the Santa Monica Pier, Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco (including a very generous offer of free tokens to Treasure Hunt), the New Jersey piers, Coney Island (which Mike has still never visited and yes, we're calling him out), and the terminally underrated Indiana Beach. We also go deep on mini golf — specifically, how much a well-themed mini golf course with animatronics slaps, and why the card-swipe ticket system is a crime against childhood nostalgia. And yes, there's a million-dollar mini golf course for sale in EB's town if anyone's interested. He explains the strengths and limitations of current screening strategies, reviews the recommendations from major medical organizations, and discusses why screening guidance can often seem confusing or contradictory. Peter outlines a practical framework for understanding breast cancer risk and personalizing screening decisions, including when to begin screening, how frequently to screen, and which imaging modalities may be most appropriate based on an individual's risk profile. Throughout the episode, he emphasizes that while population-based guidelines provide an important foundation, optimizing outcomes requires a more personalized approach aimed at helping women make informed screening decisions that can improve the chances of early detection and successful treatment. We discuss: Why women still die from breast cancer: the benefits of screening, the problem of under-screening, and the need for risk-based screening strategies [1:45]; Current screening recommendations, why they differ between organizations, and the importance of personalized screening decisions [6:30]; A framework for personalizing screening [8:45]; Assessing baseline breast cancer risk: genetics, family history, breast density, lifestyle factors, and the role of risk calculators in personalized screening [9:30]; Balancing cancer detection and false positives: how breast cancer risk influences screening intensity and imaging choices [17:45]; Mammography as the foundation of breast cancer screening: detecting ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and the advantages of 3D versus 2D mammography [21:00]; MRI for high-risk women: the benefits of supplemental screening, abbreviated MRI, and the emerging role of contrast-enhanced mammography [23:00]; The role of ultrasound: supplemental cancer detection, diagnostic evaluation, and limitations compared with mammography and MRI [26:00]; Choosing the right breast cancer screening strategy: imaging modality selection, screening hierarchies, and the importance of imaging center quality [28:00]; How often should you screen for breast cancer? [30:15]; At what age should you start screening? [37:30]; Breast cancer in younger women: aggressive tumor biology, BRCA-related risk, breast density, and individualized decisions about when to begin screening [41:45]; Inflammatory breast cancer, the limitations of screening mammography for symptomatic disease, and the importance of promptly evaluating new breast symptoms in both women and men [44:45]; From risk assessment to personalized screening: a practical framework for reducing breast cancer mortality through earlier and more effective detection [46:30]; and More.
