Many of our award winners say that it felt like a dream being a winner. None, though, have been chosen to be the recipient because of a dream! But that's how Nina, the winner of the Women of the Year 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award says she came up with the idea of launching the first Moonwalk, a night time marathon walk through the streets of London to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer where all the participants wore their, often highly decorated, bras very much on show Since then the Moonnwalks have happened annually, not just in London but in other places around the UK and the world, Walk the Walk, the charity Nina founded has raised over £143 million to support work done for and with breast cancer patients and research into the disease, and Nina has been awarded a CBE. Nina recalls the shocking co-incidence that happened after her first fund-raising walk, how her work has been behind a fundamental shift in cancer care, and the reason why her experience of the Women of the Year lunch was unique.
A 32-year-old Pennsylvania man accused of beheading his father and posting a video of the crime on YouTube may face the death penalty if prosecutors choose to pursue it. The Bucks County District Attorney's Office announced after an arraignment that they are reserving the right to seek capital punishment against Justin Mohn, who is charged with the murder of his 68-year-old father, Michael F. Mohn. The incident occurred on January 30 at the victim's home on Upper Orchard Drive in Levittown. Middletown Township police officers responding to the scene found Michael Mohn decapitated in a downstairs bathroom, with a machete in the bathtub. His head was discovered in a cooking pot in a bedroom. Authorities allege that Justin fled the scene in his father's 2009 Toyota Corolla. Prosecutors claim that Justin used the machete to kill his father before posting a 14-minute video on YouTube showing the aftermath and identifying the victim by name. In the video, he allegedly called his father a "traitor" and urged like-minded individuals to kill federal employees. Michael Mohn was a 20-year civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. "Police later received information about a 14-minute video posted to YouTube, which showed the defendant picking up the decapitated head of his father, identifying him by name and as his father," prosecutors stated. "In the video, he ordered all militia and patriots across the United States to kill all federal employees." Authorities also allege that Justin listed specific federal officials to be captured and publicly executed, providing the name and address of a U.S. District Court Judge as one of his targets. Hours after the murder, he was arrested at the National Guard Training Center in Fort Indiantown Gap, Lebanon County. Investigators believe he went there in an attempt to mobilize the National Guard against the federal government. In a September court appearance, Justin claimed he was justified in using "deadly force" because his father resisted a citizen's arrest. Speaking to local media, he said, "I and a lot of other people around America believe that the federal government has betrayed America. He was a federal employee and betrayed me. I was trying to perform a citizen's arrest. He resisted that citizen's arrest. It's lawful to use deadly force in that event." Justin Mohn is charged with first-degree murder, terrorism, robbery, trespassing, abuse of a corpse, theft, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of an instrument of a crime. Michael Mohn was honored in 2019 with the "Outstanding Achievement Award," the highest annual honor for employees in his field. Colleagues mourned the "untimely and tragic loss" of a "gifted innovator, a consummate professional, an invaluable mentor, and a dear friend." Prosecutors cited the "aggravating circumstance" that the slaying occurred during the commission of a felony, which could make Justin eligible for the death penalty if convicted. The case is ongoing as both the prosecution and defense prepare for trial. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Episode 333 Communal Growth In life we all put aside something when life becomes to busy, maybe it was a hobby you used to enjoy, or a new project you swear you're going to get to you just need to finish this other thing first, or maybe it's a skill from your childhood like playing the flute that you decided to put away because of limitations or self intimidation. But that's the great thing about life, we have all the time in the world to pick back up those things and enjoy them again. In this episode Sarah Elkins and D'Vaughn Hayes discuss the importance of giving yourself grace when you are trying to pick up something new, the importance and value of encouraging another to do the same, and how through these experiences we grow into stronger and happier individuals. Highlights The universe brings us together in strange and amazing ways. The importance of music in our lives and how it comes back during times in our life when we need it most. It's okay if it takes time for you to pick up something you want to do or if you aren't good at it immediately. It takes time. The self-fulfillment of helping another grow. Quotes “The sales just makes sense because it's “Hey you have this issue or this problem with your organization, I've got this really great solution and makes sense, let's move forward. Everybody's happy.” of course it benefits me and my bottom line and the income I bring into my family, so you get some warm and fuzzies there but the real impact for me is what I do to help other people get to where they want to be, to help them share their stories, or to watch them grow right in front of my eyes. To the person that they didn't think they could be when we first met and just to watch that process is incredible.” “That's not a good thing, as a community for your youth to grow up thinking that and believing that (There are no options or opportunities in the place you grew up) and just having this sense that they need to leave. If your community is to grow and thrive it needs to retain young people, they need to believe that this is a place where things happen where they can envision a bright future for themselves.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, I want to know what you're going to pick up that you put aside years before? What is one of those ideas that you've had in your head that maybe you started in the past and gave up too soon. I want to know about this and D'Vaughn wants to hear about it so we can support you in reaching that goal or sharing that idea so you feel compelled to complete it. And, as always, thank you for listening. About D'Vaughn D'Vaughn LaSean Hayes is a seasoned professional with a proven track record in sales, marketing, and leadership. About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out the Storytelling For Professionals Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!

On this Flight of The Retail Pilot Ken speaks with LEGEND, Tommy Hilfiger, Principal Designer, Tommy Hilfiger Global.Uplifting and inspiring consumers since 1985, Tommy Hilfiger has pioneered one of the world's most recognized premium lifestyle brands. With Hilfiger's vision and leadership as Principal Designer, his eponymous brand celebrates the essence of classic American style with a modern twist. Tommy Hilfiger offers premium quality and value to consumers worldwide under the TOMMY HILFIGER and TOMMY JEANS lifestyles, with a breadth of collections including men's, women's and kids' sportswear, denim, accessories, and footwear.Hilfiger's career in fashion began when he was a high school student in 1969 — opening his first store, People's Place, in his hometown of Elmira, New York. A decade later, he moved to Manhattan to pursue a career in fashion design, before launching his namesake brand with a single menswear collection. Since then, global retail sales of TOMMY HILFIGER products have grown to reach approximately $9.1 billion in 2022, powered by more than 16,000 associates worldwide — present in 100 countries and more than 2,000 retail stores, including its largest global flagship store at tommy.com.Hilfiger has a longstanding passion for philanthropy and making the world a better place for future generations. Through the global TommyCares organization, the brand supports various international initiatives and charities like Save the Children, the World Wildlife Fund and Fashion Minority Alliance. Hilfiger currently sits on the Board of Next for Autism. Through the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge and People's Place Program, the brand is also making strides in its ambitious vision to create fashion that Wastes Nothing and Welcomes All – which actively focuses on topics such as social and environmental sustainability, diversity, and inclusivity in fashion and beyond.Diverse achievements in business and fashion have earned Hilfiger numerous distinguished awards including the CFDA's prestigious Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012, British GQ's Design Legend of the Year in 2020, BFC's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2021 and WWD's John B. Fairchild Honor for Lifetime Achievement in 2022. Hilfiger's life and career have been chronicled in his memoir, American Dreamer, published in November 2016 — reflecting his experiences in the fashion industry from the last 35-plus years. Recounting his early childhood and formative years, it explores the setbacks, triumphs, and sheer determination that drove him to build a multi-billion-dollar global brand.Key takeaways from this interview include:Tommy Hilfiger's Background: Tommy Hilfiger began his journey in retail and design at a young age, starting his own business at 18 years old by opening a retail store -People's Place - selling jeans in 1969. This venture eventually led him to designing and creating products for his stores, culminating in the establishment of his own brand.Innovative Store Concepts: Hilfiger's early stores, particularly People's Place, were not just retail outlets but cultural hubs influenced by music and fashion. They offered a variety of products, hosted band practices, and provided an immersive experience for customers, aligning with the youth culture of the time.Cultural Influences on Brand Identity: Hilfiger aimed to differentiate his brand from traditional preppy styles by infusing it with elements of music, particularly hip-hop, and embracing a more inclusive approach to fashion. This cultural fusion helped establish the personality of the Tommy Hilfiger brand.Disruptive Advertising Strategy: The Hangman ad campaign, conceived by advertising executive George Lois, was a bold and disruptive move that garnered attention for the brand. Despite initial criticism, the controversial campaign succeeded in sparking conversation and establishing Tommy Hilfiger as a distinctive player in the fashion industry.Strategic Partnerships and Growth: Strategic partnerships, such as those with Marjani International and later with Silas Chao and Lauren Stroll, played a crucial role in the brand's growth and expansion. These partnerships facilitated strategic decisions like expanding into Europe and launching successful product lines such as fragrances, contributing to the brand's success and eventual IPO.Archives and Relevance: Both Tommy Hilfiger and Karl Lagerfeld emphasized the importance of going back to fashion archives and making past designs relevant for today's market. This approach ensures a timeless appeal while staying fresh.Strategic Partnerships: The acquisition by Apex and subsequent sale to PVH provided strategic opportunities for Tommy Hilfiger's brand growth. Apex helped in repositioning the company, while PVH's ownership of other brands like Calvin Klein created synergies beneficial for both.Brand Positioning: The positioning of Tommy Hilfiger's brand differs between the US and Europe. Understanding regional customer preferences and pricing strategies is crucial for successful brand positioning.Design Process: Tommy Hilfiger's use of technology, such as 3D design, and the centralization of its design team in Europe contribute to a more efficient and precise design process. This enables faster response to market trends and ensures product quality.Marketing and Brand Communication: The brand utilizes a mix of influencer collaborations, celebrity endorsements, and unique marketing campaigns to amplify its brand message. Embracing digital technologies like augmented reality and exploring AI's potential are also part of the brand's forward-thinking approach to marketing.

Episode Notes In the U.S., we consume about 1 billion gallons of wine annually. Whether you prefer reds, whites, pinks, or bubbles, do you know what's really in your go-to glass of wine? Wine's history is filled with tales of deception, and today I sit down with Rebecca Gibb to dive into her latest book, Vintage Crime: A Short History of Wine Fraud. We'll talk about some of the surprising additions to wine throughout time, including some rather deadly (though tasty!) ingredients, and why and how wine fraud continues to happen. Our chat ends with Rebecca's wine picks for a variety of occasions. Rebecca Gibb is a Master of Wine, business owner, and award-winning wine journalist. She is currently an editor for Vinous, an online wine publication, which has subscribers in more than 100 countries, publishing in-depth wine coverage and reviews. In 2015, Rebecca became the 384th Master of Wine in the world. In a record class of 24 graduates, she was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award and the Bollinger Medal in recognition of outstanding tasting ability.

Highlights What caused the wine scandal in the 1980s, which devastated the Austrian wine scene? How did the Austrian wine industry turn around its image and recover? What was the story behind the famous Thomas Jefferson wine fraud scandal? How did Rudy Kurniawan get so far in his fraudulent schemes and why did it ultimately unravel? What is it about food and wine pairing that Rebecca doesn't like? Which famous person would Rebecca love to share a bottle of wine with? Key Takeaways Rebecca shared some great tips on how we can avoid buying a fake bottle of wine. I found her larger discussion of what makes a wine truly authentic fascinating. The story of Rudy Kurniawan and his fraudulent schemes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars sounds like the script of a movie or Netflix special. Are you curious about the greatest con artists in the world of wine? What creative but illegal ingredients have been added to wine to cut costs and boost profits? What is it about tales of crime and greed that draw us in? In this episode of the Unreserved Wine Talk podcast, I'm chatting with Rebecca Gibb, author of Vintage Crime: A Short History of Wine Fraud. Highlights What was it like to represent Great Britain as an athlete at the age of 19? Where did Rebecca's interest in the cello come from? Why has Rebecca decided to donate a portion of her book's royalties to finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy? Why did Rebecca decide to write about the riots in Champagne in 1911? What is it about tales of crime and greed that draw us in? What's the meaning of the MICE acronym used to describe the motivations behind committing fraud? How have coercion and ego played a role in wine fraud over the years? Do you have to be a wine person to appreciate Rebecca's book, Vintage Crime? What was the most popular method of wine fraud in Ancient Rome? Which unusual methods did vintners try in an effort to restore vineyards after the phylloxera epidemic in the late 1800s? How did it come to be that there was more Champagne being sold than produced during World War I? Key Takeaways I enjoyed Rebecca's stories about the greatest con artists in the world of wine. I think we all love a juicy story about people trying to get one over on others. Call it whatever the wine version is of schadenfreude. I agree that part of what helps con artists get away with what they do is that people don't want to admit they have been duped. That's pride and human nature. I was intrigued by the creative but illegal ingredients that have been added to wine to cut costs and boost profits. There's a fine line between what's adulteration and what isn't. Danny Guerrero, the vice president of North America Strategy at MMGY Global, always knew he was different. But despite facing tremendous odds in his childhood — including years spent watching his father struggle with substance abuse and feeling out of place as a Latino at an all-white school in San Diego — Guerrero pushed forward on his journey of self-discovery and has since turned many of life's lemons into lemonade. Guerrero's interests and experiences in public relations, multicultural marketing and brand strategy have propelled him to prominence in the travel industry. He's active in the Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DEI) space, (winning an Outstanding Achievement Award from the World Travel & Tourism Council for Advancing Diversity and Inclusion in the Travel Industry earlier this year), and he's pioneered research for MMGY that places a lens on the needs of underrepresented groups — most recently, Black and Latinx travelers. In this episode of Humans of Travel, Guerrero dives into his journey of cultural connection and self-acceptance. Attorney Cloward shares how his Mormon faith and commitment to service created the foundation for his career as a plaintiff trial lawyer. Ben describes in detail how he used aggressive discovery and big data to develop and try a negligent security case on behalf of the family of a man murdered at a local housing development. Ben talks about how he was able to identify the most compelling facts, come up with the ideal sequencing of the evidence, and rebut factual and legal defense to achieve this extraordinary result. About Ben ClowardIn 2016, at the age of 37, Benjamin P. Cloward became the youngest lawyer in the history of the State of Nevada to be awarded the prestigious “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the Nevada Justice Association. That same year, he became the youngest member of the Nevada, Las Vegas Chapter of ABOTA (American Board of Trial Advocates), and at the time was also the youngest person in the State of Nevada to be Board Certified as a Personal Injury Specialist. He has received many additional recognitions, including being AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and receiving a perfect 10.0 by Avvo.com. He has been featured in several magazines in Nevada for his accomplishments and hard work. Just recently, in February 2020, Ben obtained a $38 million jury verdict, which is believed to be the largest ever negligent security for wrongful death in the State of Nevada. Other verdicts Ben has obtained include a $15 million jury verdict in 2016 on behalf of a family whose disabled son, Harvey, was allowed to choke to death on a paratransit bus. That verdict was upheld in a unanimous decision after four years of contentious appellate litigation with the final judgment ballooning to over $20.5 million dollars. The defense in that case never formally offered a single penny. After obtaining the verdict, Ben continued working on the safety issue that led to Harvey's death, and with the help of many other people, got “Harvey's Law” passed in Nevada in 2017, which required certain training for all paratransit bus drivers to ensure others were protected. In 2016, Ben also obtained a $12.9 million jury verdict for a family whose life had been altered by a drunk driver who injured the mother and killed the daughter. He also obtained a $10 million settlement for a client who was significantly injured from a fall which resulted in a moderate brain injury. Ben has obtained multiple soft-tissue, low visible property damage jury verdicts including a $2.98 million jury verdict in 2018, a $1,075,000 verdict in 2014, and several 6 figure verdicts. In addition to obtaining significant jury verdicts, Ben has also been involved in settling over thirty cases for values ranging from $1 million to $10 million as noted above. Ben successfully argued the Khoury v. Seastrand, 133 Nev. Adv. Op. 52 (July 28, 2016) case which was a huge victory for all injured Nevadans because it rejected the Howell doctrine, which allows negligent people who caused harm to get a discount when they hit responsible citizens who carried personal health insurance. Ben is a graduate of the famed Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer's College and believes as does Gerry that “It all begins with you . . .” Ben served on the board for a nonprofit company called the Loa Fund, which focuses on providing financial assistance to those who struggle with addiction to receive help through wilderness therapy and other addiction recovery programs. Ben believes that you can never truly understand another human until you have walked a mile in their shoes and that everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt and a chance to prove themselves. Ben was raised in Salem, Utah. As a young boy, Ben earned his Eagle Scout Award and after graduation from high school, he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Louisiana. Ben attended the University of Utah and graduated in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in finance. He began law school at the University of Tulsa, College of Law. After his first year, Ben transferred to the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he graduated in 2008. While in law school, Ben received the Outstanding Achievement Award for Teaching Law in the High School, the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Property, and was on the Dean's List. He also served as the President of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and as a Judicial Intern for the then-State Court Presiding Judge, Gregory K. Frizzell, who is now a Judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. He also participated as a Note and Comment Editor for the Journal of Land, Resources, and Environment Law, where his Comment, Why has State v. Hutchinson Been Ignored? An Analysis of Why Utah Cities Lack Authority to Exact Water, 28 J. LAND RESOURCES & ENVTL. L. 433, was selected for publication. Ben's interests outside of work include spending time with his wife and two beautiful daughters. He also enjoys mule deer archery hunting, bass-fishing, camping, and watching the Boston Red Sox. He is active in his church and currently serves as a Stake High Councilor. He believes our highest calling in life is to help others come unto Christ.

When our reporter Ena Miller gave birth to her baby called Bonnie just over a year ago - she expected to receive the standard comments..."Oh she's so beautiful, aww look at her little nose, she's so cute, aww what a big baby..." she did get those but she also got negative remarks from friends and strangers about the colour of her baby's skin. Ena realised she was not alone and went to meet two other mothers Fariba and Wendy to talk about their experiences and ask for their advice. Plus do you live with a ‘man-child'? Research shows that it's a real phenomenon, and can damage the relationship dynamic between a man and a woman, typically meaning the woman is less sexually interested.

He opens up about being the first person in his family to go to a four-year university, the moment he confronted his sexuality, and how he used his interests in politics and tourism to propel his career forward. He also talks about what's needed in the travel industry to make it a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many challenges for post-secondary students. Despite the flexibility, support and hard work of professors to create an engaging online learning experience, the change to at-home learning has been very difficult for some students. Isolation and uncertainty have affected the mental health of numerous others. Many students lost jobs, co-op, and internship experiences in 2020, affecting their financial sustainability, career development, and progress to complete their academic programs. In short, the very important public health requirements required to protect the health and safety of the University community have limited or drastically changed many aspects of the student experience that are so fundamental to students' growth, development, and sense of connection. Whether it's making new friends on campus, participating in research, conferences, club activities, or being involved in sport, the well-known pre-pandemic transformative experience has given way to something less fulfilling for many students. Most are eager to return to the robust and engaging student experience that is familiar to them – the one they have come to expect. The speaker will account for how students have been coping at the University of Lethbridge, describe what measures the university is taking to mitigate the effects on students during this pandemic, and will discuss the plans that are being developed regarding the future of the student experience in fall 2021. Speaker: Kathleen Massey Kathleen Massey is an Associate Vice-President (Students) at University of Lethbridge where she oversees the Registrar's Office, Enrolment Services and Student Services. In this episode, Jeannette speaks with Jo Rzymowska, who is Celebrity Cruise´s Vice President and Managing Director, Europe Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). They talk about her 35-year travel industry career, how she got started and the many lessons she learned on the way. How she progressed from being a holiday rep to playing a key role in launching a skiing brand, senior roles at Walt Disney and Universal Studios to ultimately becoming the boss of Celebrity Cruises. Jo and Jeannette also discuss the progression of gender and other forms of equality within the workplace. Including, why making progress on this issue took so long. They talk about how Jo found the strength to come out as a gay woman and the approach she would take to coming out in today´s workplace. They wrap things up by discussing how the Covid crisis has impacted the cruise industry and how it will emerge from the crisis by taking a bold proactive approach. KEY TAKEAWAYS Putting the guests (your customers) at the core of everything works. Really caring and providing outstanding customer service is vital in any industry. You do not need 100% of the skills to be able to apply for a role and succeed in it. As women often we focus on our ‘gaps’ rather than on what we can bring to a role. Mentors help you to see your potential and give you the confidence to move up. True workplace equality comes from the top. You have to measure how well you are doing equality and diversity wise. If you don´t, nothing will change. People need to be able to be true to themselves, they cannot constantly be looking over their shoulder in the workplace. Everyone needs to feel safe and confident at work. When you are grappling with personal and identity issues, find someone you can trust and talk things through with them in confidence. Team members need to respect each other but should also challenge each other. Communicate frequently with your staff, even if the message is “we don´t know”. Look after yourself and those you love physically, mentally, and emotionally. Don´t perpetuate inequality by ignoring it. Instead, actively do something to make a positive difference. Fail to prepare - prepare to fail. BEST MOMENTS ‘If you don´t measure it, it doesn´t happen.’ ‘It's all very well saying I'm not racist, but what are you doing to make a difference?´ ´Take people for who they are not what they are, don't care about their business title.’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Brave, Bold, Brilliant podcast series ABOUT THE GUEST Jo Rzymowska has held a variety of senior roles since joining Royal Caribbean Group in 2005, across the corporation’s family of brands. The Pacific Screenwriting Program (PSP) is pleased to announce Writer/Producer/Director Robert Cooper as Showrunner for the 2020 Scripted Series Lab. Cooper will be a mentor to six up-and-coming BC-based screenwriters selected to participate in next year’s program starting in January 2020. With Cooper leading the story room, they will work together to develop his original series in the PSP’s flagship training program now in its second year. Combining real-world story room experience, mentorship, boot camps, workshops and information sessions, the program equips writers with the skills, experience and connections necessary to establish a sustainable career in the province’s dynamic screen industry. The Pacific Screenwriting Program is a collaboration between Netflix, CMPA, the Writer’s Guild of Canada and Creative BC. “We are tremendously excited to welcome Robert Cooper as this year’s showrunner for the Scripted Series Lab. Rob has been a key member of the PSP community from the very outset and has demonstrated time and again his commitment to developing and mentoring upcoming screenwriters,” said Brian Hamilton, PSP Board Chair. “Rob’s track record creating and showrunning world-class television series speaks for itself. We are extremely fortunate to work with him as this year’s SSL showrunner.” Robert Cooper most recently created, wrote and directed episodes of CBC’s Unspeakable, following Canada’s tainted blood scandal. A lifelong dream project, the mini-series recently won the Leo Award for best dramatic series. Previously, he served as showrunner of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency for BBC America, Netflix and AMC Studios, and is probably best known for having been showrunner of the record-breaking Stargate television franchise for MGM. He co-created Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe and served as executive producer, writer, and director of multiple episodes of all three series and two DTV movies. Cooper has been nominated and won several awards for both writing and directing, including two Hugo nominations and a Canadian Writer’s Guild award for best dramatic screenplay. In 2009, he was presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award for contribution to the British Columbia television industry. “It’s an amazing opportunity for me to develop an original idea with a room of eager, talented minds,” said Cooper. “Everyone involved with the PSP wants to see a more vibrant community of experienced screenwriters able to work and ultimately create home grown television series right here in BC. The passion for storytelling is clear in the applicants for this year’s program. I'm looking forward to us learning from each other.” The Scripted Series Lab is a 15-week intensive training program providing support and career- advancement opportunities for active and aspiring screenwriters from across British Columbia, where they receive the necessary support to expand their portfolio and pursue opportunities in the evolving TV marketplace. Throughout the program, participants hone their craft, strengthen their collaboration and presentation skills, and obtain a deeper understanding of the global television industry and how to market themselves within it. As the Scripted Series Lab showrunner, Cooper will mentor the six selected participants within a real-world story room over 10 weeks, breaking stories and writing scripts for the original project he brings to the room and will subsequently be pitching to streamers and networks around the world. Journalist, författare, 39 år. Bosatt i Washington DC. TODAY'S GUEST: Dr. Reese Halter Earth Doctor Reese Halter is the recipient of the President's Distinguished Service Award from Humboldt State University for his inimitable leadership in conservation biology, an Outstanding Environmental Awareness Achievement Award for Dr Reese's Planet from The National Society of The Daughters of the American Revolution, an Outstanding Achievement Award for writing The Insatiable Bark Beetle from California Lutheran University, an Outstanding Achievement Award for writing Shepherding the Sea: The Race to Save our Oceans from MUSE School CA, an Excellence in Conservation-in-Action Award from Sea Shepherd Australia and an Outstanding Service Award from the Rotary Club of Westlake Village Sunrise, California, for excellence in public outreach to "Save Nature Now." Join Dr Reese Halter from the tallest trees on Earth, Californian redwoods, and largest coastal forests of the Alaskan and British Columbian wilderness, Sitka spruce, to the incomparable honeybee and the incredibly delicate Monarch butterflies that migrate southward and return northward in the summer from Canada to Mexico and Baja California (which spans the life of 3 or 4 generations of the butterfly). From the land Down Under, marvel with him at breathtaking life on the Great Barrier Reef or the incredible bees that pollinate eucalypts, and express gratitude for the colossal leatherback sea turtles and remarkable whales of the Great Southern Ocean. And from Africa please take a few moments to read Dr. Reese Halter's stories on the endangered surreal cetaceans, magnificent elephants, and majestic rhinos. Or from SE Asia the latest great coal rush killing Earth and the last Sumatran tigers that loathsome poachers are mercilessly slaughtering in the bloody 'War Against Nature'. Or the repulsive ocean-killing bloodlust in Taiji, Japan, and the Danish Faroe Islands. Kudos to Captain Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society for standing up to Japan and saying "Stop Killing Endangered Whales" and Bob Barker, the late Sam Simon, Pamela Anderson, Yao Ming, Pharrell Williams and "Anonymous" for being best friends forever to the Animal Kingdom. Humans are driving The Sixth Great Extinction, destroying sea life like nothing ever before since the dawning of reproductive life 1.1 billion years ago. The bees, trees, and seas are telling us to immediately future-proof our towns and cities -- climate in crisis. To protect nature we must love it, to love it we must understand it, to understand it we must be taught. From understanding comes wonder, which The Earth Doctor is a master at evoking. Please join him and help safeguard our environment! Connect With Today's guest: Dr. Reese Halter Website On Twitter On Facebook IN THIS EPISODE: The earth is our only home. Please take care of it! I love this episode with Dr. Reese Halter, because he not only talks about the danger our planet is in because of environmental toxins (especially due to the coal industry), but he also tells us specific things that each of us can do to be part of stopping this massive polluting of our world. Listen to this episode to find out what carbon dioxide and mercury poisoning in our environment is doing to our health and the health of the world's bio-system. And discover what you can do about it. Even changing one or two habits can make a difference for the world and all who live here. America is second only to China when it comes to carbon dioxide emission. And new regulations are actually allowing coal pollution to be pumped into freshwater systems. What we do to our air and our water, we do to everything that lives on the planet. Listen to this episode to find out what you can do about environmental toxins. Even small efforts and lifestyle changes can make a big impact. When you eat fish and seafood from the ocean, the mercury they have absorbed gets into your body and stays there. Want to learn more and do something about it? In this episode, Dr. Reese Halter and I talk about how mercury gets transmitted and dangerous it is to your health and to the health of our world. I hope you'll listen and find out what steps you can take to hold on to your health and to protect our oceans. Do you want to be part of helping to save this wonderful planet Earth that we live on? Listen to this episode to find out how. Even simple things like writing your senators and congressmen, or making changes to your investment portfolio or how you pay your electric bill, can make a big difference. Listen to my conversation with Dr. Reese Halter to find out just how easy it is to start being involved in cleaning up the environmental toxins that have polluted our home. What if a small change in your lifestyle could help put an end to the environmental toxins that are bringing disease and destruction to our planet? Would you do it? Do you want your children to learn to care about the world? Listen to my conversation with The Earth Doctor - Dr. Reese Halter, to learn about both small and large lifestyle changes that can make a huge difference for our planet, the animals, and ourselves.
