Dass es das letzte gemeinsame Abendessen ist, ahnen die wenigsten. Erst lachen sie noch, dann wird es ruhig. Das Lammfleisch duftet, aber die Luft riecht nach Gefahr. Jesus, der Aufrührer, heißt es auf den Straßen. Zu gut, um von dieser Welt zu sein. Er nimmt ein großes Stück Brot, bricht es gibt es weiter. Auch den Wein gibt er in die Runde. Spricht Worte dabei, die voller Leben sind. Größer als gr0ß, ein Vermächtnis: Liebt euch, wie ich euch liebe. Liebt einander von Herzen. Das Brot hat uns gesättigt. Dünnhäutig gemacht. Erwartungsvoll schauen wir uns an. Einer öffnet die Flaschen, schenkt allen ein. Ein Glas bleibt unberührt. Für einen, der noch kommt? Für einen der da ist, unsichtbar und mächtig. Weltbekannt ist die Zeichnung Leonardo da Vincis, die einen Fallschirm skizziert, jedoch ist über tatsächliche Sprungversuche aus der Zeit nichts bekannt. Erst im Jahre 1783 sprang ein Louis-Sébastien Lenomand mit einem selbst konstruierten Fallschirm von dem Turm des Observatoriums in Montpellier und landete unversehrt, womit er das moderne Fallschirmspringen begründete. 140 Jahre später, als die Flugzeuge mit der zivilen Luftfahrt das Reisetempo beschleunigten, als zugleich zahlreiche Luftakrobat*innen waghalsige Kunsttücke auf fliegenden Maschinen zeigten, treffen wir auf den deutschen Ingenieur Otto Heinicke, dem die am Flugzeug befestigte Aufziehleine zugeschrieben wird, die es verhindert, dass der Fallschirm sich mit dem Flugzeug, aus dem man springt, verheddert. Das 8-Uhr-Abendblatt machte sich auf den Weg zu ihm, um allerdings nicht ihn, sondern seine Verlobte zu befragen, die als Fallschirmspringerin für Furore sorgte. Und so lernen wir zusammen mit Paula Rosa Leu und der Ausgabe vom 17. Januar 1924 diese Pionierin des „Flugzeug-Abspringens“ kennen.

Abstract: Oral temperature is a sensory cue relevant to food preference and nutrition. However, the cortical computation involved in processing thermosensory information in behaving animals remains largely elusive. In this study, we investigate how orally-sourced thermal inputs are processed in the gustatory cortex (GC), a cortical region typically studied for its role in processing another intraoral sensory cue - taste. Therefore, we used fiber photometry and electrophysiology to record neural responses from the GC of male and female mice presented with different innocuous temperatures (14{degrees}, 25 {degrees}, and 36 {degrees},C) of deionized water. Our results demonstrate that GC neurons encode orally sourced thermal information in the absence of taste, at both the single neuron and population level. Analysis of thermal-evoked responses showed broadly tuned neurons that responded to temperature in a mostly monotonic manner. Furthermore, spatial location plays a minor role with regard to thermosensory activity; with the exception of the most ventral GC, neurons reliably respond to and encode thermal information across the dorso-ventral and anterior-posterior cortical axes. Finally, decoding analysis revealed a small ensemble of GC neurons rapidly and accurately discriminate thermal information after the fluid is in contact with the mouth, providing additional evidence of the GC's involvement in processing thermosensory information important for ingestive behaviors. Altogether, our data reveal details of the cortical code for the mammalian intraoral thermosensory system in behaving mice and pave the way for future investigations on the GC functions and its operational principles with respect to thermogustation. Nasjonalmuseet i Oslo har efter 50 års osäkerhet nu fått fastslaget att deras Vincent van Gogh porträtt är äkta. Cecilia Blomberg funderar över pengar, äkta och genuina värden. Det är lätt att föreställa sig lättnaden. Det är klart att ett äkta Vincent van Gogh porträtt i samlingarna är en trofé när Nasjonalmuseet i Oslo slår upp dörrarna igen i höst. Det kommer säkert få en fin placering, även om det är en lite udda Van Goghmålning. Den kommer fortfarande vara udda, men äkta och med en bra historia som gör den ännu intressantare. Redan popkonstens konung Andy Warhol saboterade äkthetskraven med sina silkscreenade bilder från massmedia, tillverkade på löpande band i hans Factory. Och när postmodernismen gjorde sitt intåg var frågan om det äkta viktig att underminera. Inte minst genom att tekniker som fotografi och video tog mer plats. Det är ju faktiskt så att ett äkta fotografi av Cindy Sherman egentligen inte är ett bättre verk än en piratkopierad kvalitetskopia. Men konstmarknadens aktörer trädde in och styrde upp det hela och skapade begränsade, numrerade upplagor och krav på proveniens. Men detaljerna, den kladdiga signaturen avslöjade förfalskningen som ändå i sig var värd en trettio, fyrtiotusen. Men med måleri och skulptur är det lite grann en annan fråga. För många av oss vill ju ändå fortfarande så här i post postmodernismens tidevarv - tro att det finns en skillnad mellan ett äkta mästerverk och en kopia eller förfalskning. Konstverket som en talisman som bär större krafter inom sig och som bara kan laddas om det är rätt person som lagt sin hand på verket. I TV-programmet Antikrundan kan just frågan om det äkta höja temperaturen rejält, som i avsnittet förra torsdagen då en man släpat dit en målning, ett porträtt, signerat Ernst Josephson, ett av svensk konsthistorias stora namn. Spänningen gick att ta på. Målningen hade räddats ur ett källarförråd. Hängt på en hedersplats i många år. Men detaljerna, den kladdiga signaturen avslöjade förfalskningen som ändå i sig var värd en trettio, fyrtiotusen eftersom det var en så känd förfalskning. Det var Josephsons konstnärsvän Allan Österlind som sett en möjlighet att tjäna lite extra pengar och skapat ett gäng målningar under falskt namn. Men det är klart, hade den varit äkta hade värderingen landat på en dryg miljon. Ja så där kan man hålla på. En äkta Gustaf Klimt värderad till sisådär en miljard hittades precis i en vägg i ett italienskt galleri. Det är de äkta Billgrens som tagit plats i TV:s nya realityserie - parodiskt i sig eftersom Ernst Billgren under senare gått in i alteregot Wilhelm von Kröckert. Men nu är det äkta Ernst som tar plats. Striderna kring Salvator Mundi och om det verkligen är Leonardo da Vincis målning pågick i evigheter. Efter att den toppade auktionsrekorden försvann den bara och det finns fortfarande de som tvivlar. Men det gäller att hålla tron uppe. För den idag något urspårade konstmarknaden behöver de äkta målningarna i olika former av penningtransaktioner. Personligen vill jag helst hoppas att det genuint äkta får en renässans. Att det kommer att stå för genuina värden. Och att det inte behöver vara förknippat med pengar. Naivt? Säkert. Men ett äkta hopp är det i alla fall. Cecilia Blomberg cecilia.blomberg@sr.se

There are many things that we use that need energy to work. The problem is that we use natural gases and other things that pollute the earth. The Dyson sphere will help. Solar energy is a different clean energy source. On Earth, we only get a small fraction of energy because the sun is so far away. This is why, if we put solar panels closer to the sun in space, it would give us more than enough energy. The idea around this is that we put reflective panels in space, and they reflect the sunlight to Earth or another planet to collect the energy. There is some research on something called the Dyson sphere. The idea is that it surrounds the sun and takes in all the light through reflective panels. To actually be able to get the resources, we will need to venture out to another planet with the resources. From there on we can eject the panels into space and use that energy to create more. One day this planet will die whether or not humans still exist, we will need ways to move and have lots of energy. Right now, this idea seems manageable and could be done if everyone worked together and it was planned well.

Scientists found out how to levitate objects with only using light. Most of their ideas and work are theoretical. They could use this to propel things like space crafts. It could be a laser back on Earth that shot onto the spaceship. The scientists call it photonic levitation and propulsion. Caltech scientists say that a focused beam of light could reflect and stabilize an object, which will then cause the object to be propelled. For now, they can only levitate microscopic objects. This can truly help our cause of spreading humanity to other planets and galaxies. Transportation will be so much more efficient.

It seems crazy, but scientists found out that sonic waves have mass. Usually people have believed that sonic and sound waves had no mass. That they just changed in different circumstances, like water and air. New research shows that sonic waves actually do have mass. Things called phonons are part of the waves that make the waves travel. Scientists from Carnegie Mellon believe that it can be measurable, but would have a negative mass. This means that it would fall away from Earth. This is interesting and is proof of how wacky this world is.

Scientists have created something that does not block light or air, but blocks sound. This shows the advanced technology that we have nowadays. Scientists had to calculate the different materials that would block sound, but not air or light. They realized that a donut shaped object would be able to block the most of the sound waves. It was a 3d printed ring what they put on the end of a PVC pipe and a loudspeaker on the other side ,what did they hear, nothing. The reasoning behind this is that the sound waves bounce off the ring and what you hear is inaudible to humans. This can help society in the future with noise.

Last year a Nasa space probe will be close to a space rock. It reached the uncharted parts of the Kuiper Belt. It had a close look of Ultima Thule, which is a piece of Kuiper Belts which has many ice and rock chunks. Scientists are trying to see what the floating mass is made up of. This will give them a better perspective of what the Kuiper Belt is made up of. This can also give them background information about the first types of materials in the universe. This gives people interest of what they might find up close on the surface of this chunk of ice and rock.

There has been a discovery recently that there is 83 black holes! They are at the end of visible universe. These were observed from a very powerful telescope. Black holes have the capability to swallow planets, stars, and even other back holes. This is a scary thought, but it is so far away, it would probably get here when humans are extinct or we have left the planet. This is because we are talking about the very fringe of what we see of the universe.

Mercedes has designed a new model of a sports car. This will be the first all electric race car from Mercedes. This new type of race cars are called formula e cars. They can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds. These are also not just interesting and cool, but they are all electric, which means that it will be better for the environment. This would also decrease all the repairs and maintenances of a regular formula on or any race car.

NASA has filmed revolutionary images of shock waves crashing together from two jets. NASA is trying to create a jet that can still go faster than the speed of light, but without a sonic boom. The reason that they are trying to do that is because sonic booms are very loud and that is why they are restricted over residential areas. The two planes were being photographed from a plane above. This was tricky, because they had to reach the speed of light right underneath the plane above. NASA said that it was the first time that jets had traveled faster than the speed of light and created no sonic boom. The reason of this was that because they were staggered, the shockwaves were both affected. This changed the whole shape of the waves, therefore not creating a sonic boom. NASA can now use this information to help change the way that jets can go faster than the speed of light without creating a sonic boom.

Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the most brilliant men of his era. Even today, he remains an inspiration. Learn some the things you can add to your life that Leonardo did everyday.

Erst mit über fünfzig Jahren entwickelte der Amerikaner Alfred Jensen sein eigenwilliges malerisches Werk, das ihn zu einem wichtigen Vorläufer der seriellen Malerei der 1960er Jahre machen sollte. 1903 in Guatemala geboren, verlebte Jensen seine Jugendjahre in dem mittelamerikanischen Land, von dem er die Erinnerung an die reinen leuchtenden Farben der Maya-Kultur mitnahm. Nach ersten Versuchen in der abstrakt-expressionistischen Malerei fand Jensen 1957 zu den einfachen geometrischen Grundformen, die er nach eigenen Gesetzen anordnete. Jensen war fasziniert von Ordnungssystemen, mit denen sich Zahlen und Farben in rhythmische Abläufe bringen liessen, und dafür griff er auf mannigfaltige Quellen zurück – auf die Kalender der Maya und Inka, auf die Baupläne der Pyramiden, auf die Lehren der Pythagoräer, die Schriften Leonardo da Vincis, auf Goethes Farbenlehre und viele andere Theorien. Es gelang Jensen, daraus eine eigene Bildsprache zu formen und mit dem pastosen Farbauftrag der Spektralfarben eine malerische Entsprechung für seinen Ausdruckswillen zu finden. Seine Zeitgenossen nannten Jensen den Henri Rousseau der Abstraktion, um seinen unbekümmerten schöpferischen Umgang mit den überlieferten Theorien zu charakterisieren. Durch seinen Malerfreund Sam Francis kam Jensen Anfang der 1960er Jahre zu Eberhard Kornfeld in Bern, der ihn von da an vertrat und sein Werk in Europa durchsetzte. Deshalb befinden sich viele von Jensens wichtigsten Werken nicht in den USA, sondern in Schweizer Sammlungen.

I tusentals år har det gyllene snittet legat till grund för konst, arkitektur och foto. Begreppet syftar på idén att det finns ett slags ideala proportioner som går att räkna sig fram till, och det gyllene snittet anses ligga till grund för pyramiderna, Parthenontemplet och Leonardo da Vincis målningar. Nu har ett samband mellan det gyllene snittet och det fjärde hyllplanet i IKEA:s bokhylla Billy upptäckts. Socialantropologen Johan Lindquist och konstnären John D. Freyer ligger bakom upptäckten som kan avslöja mycket om människors strävan efter identitet och estetisk harmoni. Dessutom handlar det om burkar och kartonger i barnlitteraturen.
