Mit neuen Gaskraftwerken will sich Deutschland künftig vor Stromengpässen schützen. Doch diese Sicherheit hat ihren Preis. Ab 2031, also ab dem Zeitpunkt, an dem die ersten neu gebauten Kraftwerke ans Netz gehen sollen, ist eine Umlage geplant, die jeder Stromverbraucher zahlen muss. Wie stark wird sich das auf die Stromrechnung auswirken? Energieökonom Dominik Möst von der TU Dresden rechnet es im Podcast „Thema in Sachsen“ von Sächsischer Zeitung und Leipziger Volkszeitung vor. Der Wissenschaftler kommt zu dem Schluss, dass es mit dem Strompreis ab dann zwar weiterhin „grundsätzlich in die falsche Richtung geht“, eine Kostenexplosion allerdings nicht zu erwarten sei. Stattdessen sei es positiv zu bewerten, dass mit den neuen Reservekapazitäten überhaupt erst die Voraussetzungen für eine sichere Stromversorgung geschaffen würden. Doch ist das Setzen auf Gas solch eine gute Idee, wo doch ausgerechnet dieser Rohstoff im Zuge globaler Konflikte immer teurer geworden ist und starken Preisschwankungen unterliegt? Auch diese grundsätzliche Frage beantwortet der Wissenschaftler und erklärt dabei genau, wie groß die Lücke in der Stromversorgung wird, wenn ab 2038 die Kohleverstromung endgültig vorbei ist. Dass in den kommenden fünf Jahren Kraftwerke mit einer Gesamtleistung von elf Gigawatt gebaut werden, ist mit dem sogenannten „Strom-Versorgungssicherheits- und Kapazitätengesetz“ besiegelt worden. Wie insbesondere Sachsen davon profitieren will, erklärt im Podcast Franziska Höhnl, Landespolitik-Korrespondentin von SZ und LVZ.
